  • Day 26 – McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
    Day 25 – NFD
    Day 24 – NFD
My last fast day morphed into a NFD. We still have an eclipse guest staying with us and there is way too much “guest” food in the house. I’ve managed to eat and drink my way through most of it.
    Feeling discouraged. 🙃

    Day 26, Guildford UK, FD

    Miserable and hungry

    Day 26–ABQ–NFD

@coda, @debster; I would love to have chickens but you can’t really leave them on their own and I want to be able to go away for the weekend sometimes. Plus now that there’s no dog guarding the back we’re getting coyotes and raccoons again. Thank goodness my cat is a survivor! I’m considering the possibility of getting a beehive. There is a group in town that supports backyard beekeepers and it sounds promising.

@taraga; I was thinking about you yesterday; glad you’re still doing okay.

@rainbowsmile; sending a big cyber-hug out your way.

Today I am grateful that my week-long hormone headache is finally lifting. I am grateful for my pretty good health.

Day 26 – SW WA USA – NFD

Have been having a good week control wise so hoping to continue that so I can inch closer to my August goal of getting below 200 lbs again.

@daffodil2010 – I’m happy for your success. It’s exciting when we make progress!
@melf123 – you’re making great progress on 5:2! It is better doing it together, I agree.
@liathanail – good for you, dispatching more pounds!
@Taragan – I’m curious, why no water on your FDs?
@rainbowsmile – even on a FD, find something that’ll make you happy so you don’t feel deprived. It can even be a calorie free beverage or a few calories in it, that’ll seem like a treat. For me, I’ve been keeping iced coffee in the fridge and will create my “fauxbucks” not a true Starbucks, a popular coffee chain here. I use low-calorie nut milks like cashew or almond in it, some stevia. It’s quite yummy; cold in summer & hot in winter. Sometimes I add some baking cocoa powder in it to get my chocolate fix. Hopefully you’ll think of something and get a Rainbowsmile on your face. Sending cyber (((hugs))).

    Yes, together we are stronger!

    Day 26 California USA NFD

We’ve had houseguests since Thursday who will be here through tomorrow afternoon. So more eating than usual, but managed to be 136.6 or 62 this morning. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Thank you @keetseel and @anne Marilyn

Struggling a bit and hungry, I ate some ritz crackers.

Trying to get back to it.

Hang on in there @rainbowsmile! You CAN do it!

Day 26 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 NFD.
Never stopped all day and forgot to post. Day off tomorrow thank goodness need a break.

    Second post
@bert1802 my gardening friend. I hope the damage to your garden is not as bad as you thought. SongBirdMe I hope all is well with DD. May you all be safe.🤞
@rainbowsmile. We’ve got your back! You’re game as a badger for fasting on a Saturday. I’m adding to AnneMarilyn’s suggestion; slimline tonic with a slice of lemon and ice (no gin,of course). Hang on in there girl!

Had a day out shopping with family, stopped for coffee and they all had huge slices of my favourite carrot cake while I had a black coffee. So proud of myself!

A late check in from Norway

@debster251, the excel sheet i use for measuring/keeping track of my kcals, i just need it now in the beginning to get to know my kcal-intake. Im not tracking my weight or other measures there, those i put in the tracker on this forum. The scale is just to give me a hint wether I’m doing good or not on my kcal intake, even though my black jeans could be buttoned up, i dont visible see any difference in my body, and I’m not sure i use the measuring tape correct, or the best way… But i really did get excited when the black jeans fit so well on friday.

Since my Polar scale is so unstable (that i need to weigh 3-4 times in a row, to get the correct measure) i have ordered a new one, one that measures more than just the weight, just to keep an eye on things, that I’m not just losing muscles.
Maybe I’ve explained my self poorly, due to language differences, but i only step on the scale once a week….on the same day, and in the morning…. the “3-4 times” is within minutes in a row, due to the unstableness of the polar scale…

Day 26 NFD St. Louis USA

It’s a beautiful day here in the Midwest. Spent a couple of hours at a water quality education and workshop for kids and families with my youngest granddaughter. Planning to walk today and do some Nia which is a particular type of dance movement. Might be fun for some of you who enjoy dancing to check it out if you haven’t heard of it. I made gazpacho yesterday which I try to make a couple of times every summer. It’s such a refreshing healthy food. I bought a ninja with the food prep cup that made it so much easier.

I’m interested in the body measurements skills that some of you have mentioned. I looked some of them up but was unsure. I’m open to suggestions for those of you who have experience and they found them helpful.

Was disappointed yesterday as when I got to my kettle bell class it had been canceled but I was unaware. Came home and did a 45 minute dance routine and got my 10,000 steps in.

All my best to all of you and me the fast be with you.

I have been in many places, but I’ve never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I live close so it’s a short drive. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I’m not too much on physical activity anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go and I try not to visit there too often. I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I’m getting older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenaline flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not. People keep telling me I’m in Denial but I’m positive I’ve never been there before! I have been in Deepshit many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there. I actually kind of enjoy it there.
So far, I haven’t been in Continent, but my travel agent says I’ll be going soon………….

    Day 27/NFD/Melbourne Australia
@steve toontaxidriver LOL just what I needed to brighten my morning
@rainbowsmile there is peace at the end of the rainbow. Just remember to smile. Hugs
@bert I do hope there isn’t too much damage.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone.

    DAY 27 Queensland Australia NFD
Happy Sunday! Thanks @daffodil2010 I will give it a go on one of my FD’s this week. Also congratulations to you!!!

@mia139 well done on your fasting!
@rainbowsmile I hope Sunday brings that smile back to your face. My gosh I could not attempt a FD on the weekend!
@steve toon taxi driver…HA HA!!! Thanks for that it gave me a good laugh!!!

NFD today. Saw ‘American Made’ yesterday and indulged in a chocolate/nut bar. Around 220 cal in that but think I would have stayed well under TDEE as ate little yesterday BUT then ended up having a couple/few/many wines last night. Have not shifted in weight at all though which is good and back on the wagon today pocket winos.
Hope everyone is well around the world….last week of August challenge and I’m looking forward to September challenge!

    Day 26 Vancouver Island
    NFD
@steve toontaxidriver That is really good, I’m saving that for sure!
    Happy Saturday!

    Day 26, US, NFD

    Hello all

Finally got around to watching that You-tube clip, thanks Quebecoise!

Did a speed read of posts so sorry that I’ve missed your names. I love gazpacho, so quick to make and tasty! Great travel stories, Stevetoontaxidriver – am definitely going to share that one with friends. Did someone mention Malteasers at the movies? We have a lovely old theatre near by we go to, with lino floors and velvet covered rickety seats. I want to roll Jaffas down the aisle everytime we visit!

    Still day 26 here –

My NFD is morphing into a FD of 800 or so. The Farmers’ Market didn’t have the folks who make gluten free yummy waffles or the crepe folks. So I just enjoyed a $1 and a real fruit frozen pop that a mom makes and sells, plus some hazelnuts from the coffee stand. Had a smidgen more when I got home. Saving the rest of my calories for supper of tacos salad w/o the tortilla.

@maayyaa – you asked about your measuring. You mentioned that you do it on the bed, I believe. Yes, standing up is recommended as far as I know. Then keep track of where you are doing the measuring eg. where you do the waist, hip etc. – I do 6 inches below the waist for the hips. Main thing is that you put it at the same area at each measuring.

@steve toon taxi man – what a chuckle! Thanks for the humor / humour for my afternoon and Onahealthyhigh’s morning.

    Day 26 North Wales NFD

    Day 27 Sydney FD

Last week of the challenge, let’s make it a good one.

@okeydokey — congratulations are in order for you! Yeah!!

    @stevetoon — adorable indeed!

@belmc — an Aussie WordsWithFriends friend said he saw “American Made” too. He’s the one who told me about 5:2, and he knows I can’t go to a movie without some popcorn! I find it funny that my theater webpage says it isn’t due to release here until mid-September. So, Australia is getting a jump on us Americans!

Can’t believe the August challenge is almost over! My OH went on his annual boy’s trip this weekend and for some reason I took this as an excuse to eat non-stop on Friday. I followed this eat-a-thon with a seafood buffet for dinner. Surprisingly or not, all the food I stuffed in my gob wasn’t satisfying and didn’t make me happy. In fact, I felt stuffed and tired.
So, yesterday was a FD and today I’m going to back it up with another FD 16:8. Hopefully, that will undue the damage from Friday and spur me on to eat healthy and not emotionally eat my body weight in chips and chocolate bullets.
On a positive note I did reach my first goal weight of 62kgs last week and have now moved my goal to 60kgs. I’m looking forward to seeing how close I am at the end of next week. I hope every else is feeling like the August challenge has been a success.
@basyjames please include me for the September challenge.

    Day 27 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 80.8kg

My workout yesterday really wiped me out. Maybe it was a bit extreme.

I didn’t mention this but my last fast day was much easier than I expected. I hope that trend continues. While weight mostly came back, my body looks better than before, firmer and a little more defined.

Been really tried this weekend but I’m not feeling bad.

    Day 26. Québec NFD

    @debster251
You can be proud of yourself, eating with other people and being able to control yourself, that’s a nice step towards your goal. A small piece of apple pie but no wine … Way to go ! Congrats to you my no sugar pall. On my side I must say that tonight I felt sooooo much like having a nice glass of wine but you came in my mind and I was able to resist and drank a glass of good fresh water. So you see, we ARE helping each other.
I am so looking forward to go on the scale tomorrow morning. My goal for August is 134 pounds and this morning I was at 135.2. I will do my very best to succed. A few months ago I went down to 130 and I want to go back there and even lower.

    @coda
you say you are a turtle …. Well sometimes I think I am a sloth, cause I am even slower ! Loll ! In fact I am kind of a sloth (the animal) at loosing but a sheetah at gaining Weight !!!

    Day 26. Québec. NFD

    @debster251
You must be proud of yourself, being able to eat with other people and having only a small piece of apple pie, no wine. That brings you closer to your goal. On my part, I really wanted a glass of wine tonight but I tought about you and I was able to resist. Had a glass of nice cool water instead. Thank you for not drinking wine cause it helped me to not drink wine !

    @coda
You say that you are a turtle when trying to loose weight. I could say that I sometimes feel I am like a sloth (the animal) when loosing but like a cheetah when gaining.

My goal for August is 134. I was at 135,2 this morning. I must do my very best to succeed.

Day 26 Massachusetts USA NFD Congratulations @quebecoise – you’re so close. Me too. I’m expecting to reach my goal no later than the end of September for sure. Going to Sicily in about three weeks. I’ll need all this discipline I’ve been developing for six months!

    Day 27 NFD Melb, Australia
Steve toon taxi driver, you are too funny! Very clever also.
Had a big bacon and egg breakfast, cooked by my thoughtful husband, and now a coffee. That will be it for me prbably till close to dinner time. I may have a piece of fruit before dinner but only if I’m hungry, I’m really trying to be much more mindful in my eating. I did eat my breadkfast slowly, savouring all the flavours, so that’s good I suppose??
Scales have continued to stay down and that’s another win. Hoping for a good FD tomorrow to cap off the month.
Rainbowsmile, thinking of you, sending a supportive hug your way xx
Keep going everyone, onwards and downwards!! (Love that saying!)

    Day 27 – UAE – FD (5th day of 9days b2bs fast)

Today, I did not wake up for my 4:30 am meal so it will be a few more hours with no food today, but I should be able to manage well.

Thank you @keetseel for thinking about me, I am doing very well 🙂

@annemarilyn the reason for no water during my fasting hours is purely religious and this 9 days b2bs is one of the optional fasting in Islam.

    Day 26 Canada FD

I haven’t felt hungry on the FD’s. Strangely missing the routine of meals but it’s all been relatively easy.

    Looking forward to continuing!

    Day 27, NFD, UK

We’ll be away from home until the 1st now, so I expect it will be NFDs all the way. I’ll post final weight on the morning of the 2nd, which will also be my start for September’s challenge.

August was not a good month, but I’ll get back on the rails next month!

    Day 27 Belfast NFD

It’s hard to believe that August is nearly over. Where did the summer go? I am going on a girlie weekend next Friday, and we traditionally shop on Saturday. I would like my weight to be as low as possible because it’s obviously the end of the month, but I hope to treat myself to a new pair of jeans if I can find a pair that make me look super skinny!
@taraga – you are the master of fasting!
@okeydokey – fantastic success this month!
@sirisan – I’ve never heard to Nia. I googled it and it looks great. I hope to add a dance class to my routine this autumn, perhaps ballet barre. I must see if we have a Nia class locally.
@maayyaa there was no criticism intended and I hope you didn’t take it like that. What I meant was that sometimes it is easy to get bogged down in statistics. You’ve made amazing progress up to date so keep it up! Your English is fantastic BTW.
@steve Toon Taxi Driver – Lol. You have to book a holiday in Credible, ‘cos seeing is believing!….
@quebecoise – I think I picked the wrong option, because I spent all day yesterday craving sweet things. Two glasses of Sauvignon blanc last night but no alcohol now until next weekend. How’s it going for you?
@keetseel – I don’t have the space for chickens and I don’t think my neighbours would appreciate it! I would love a dog, but I have a few travelling plans and it wouldn’t be fair. Once I get the travel bug out of my system, then I’ll maybe get a rescue dog.
@bigviking are you on holiday? If so, happy travels.

So, the scales have been jumping up and down between 10 st 13’and 11 st 1lb for the last two weeks. I can’t seem to jump the hurdle of getting below 11 st and staying there. That is my goal for this week. I hope to end the month with 10 st 13 or less on the scale.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

Hello all day 27 nfd co ni

    🤣🤣🤣 @@stevetoontaxidriver

Confession time nothing too bad but on a spur of the moment I had a hot cross buns with butter which brought me over my tdee. Didn’t have the salad as planned but just ribs and baked potato with grated cheese. Maybe if I had had the salad I would not have felt the need for the hot cross bun?
@taraga obviously you know what you are doing as fasting is so ingrained in your culture.

    Day27 UK NFD

Yesterday was busy getting the cottage ready for new guests/ cleaning after the last ones. I always feel I deserve a treat after that – yesterday’s was a slice of lemon poppyseed cake and coffee at the local vegetarian cafe. So tasty and probably thousands of calories but this WOL is great for allowing us to do that. Family meal later at my brothers to celebrate my niece’s birthday. Her boyfriend is coming as well, he’s brave to say the least! Seems only last week she was a baby, now she’s 19 at university and with a boyfriend. We live quite far from my immediate family so haven’t seen them for several months. I’m hoping they notice the weight loss and for a buffet meal. Means I can fill my plate with salad.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone. For those of us enjoying a bank holiday weekend, hope the weather’s nice tomorrow.

    Day 27, CD, UK

steak and egg for breakfast will hopefully keep me full for the majority of the day

    Day 27 – Woking, UK – NFD
    242.2lbs
A new low for me since I started on 22nd May. Getting below 17st is starting to look within touching distance. Went for a lovely walk on Horsell Common yesterday and had a good controlled day of about 1500 calories.
Planning a fast day for the Bank Holiday Monday.

Day 25 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 NFD.
In and around goal for 4 weeks now and bang on goal today. Maintenance seems to be working so far. Still doesn’t feel like a diet and even less so now I’m on one fasting day a week. I think the no calories between 22.00 and 12.00 is the key to my weight loss an control.
Booked a 15 day cruise for the 26th of oct,it can’t come soon enough after a year which has had a mixture of real sadness and joy. Can’t wait to switch off from my normal routine and chill out. Have a great day everyone whatever your doing and keep at it.

    Day 27, Wales, NFD

Enjoyed red wine Friday/Saturday – now on the Pocket Winos wagon until next weekend. The discipline of the daily sign in here is really helping me stay in control. August is flying by, soon be time for my monthly weigh in. I’ve decided to keep doing my FDs the same way for the rest of this month so that I can assess results for a month of the same eating pattern, then I will experiment and try a liquid only FD in September.

    Happy Sunday x

    Day 27 – Meath, Ireland – NFD
    August Goal: 149lbs
    Current Weight: 148.7 lbs 💋💋

Can’t believe it, but this morning weigh in showed another small loss and over the line for the August goal 🤗

It was a fairly controlled day considering I had to work until lunchtime, then lots of chores to do as DH was working until 9pm and things have to be done before our holiday. I therefore had an impromptu 12 hour fast between breakfast and dinner. I had a steak burger from our local artisan butcher with an egg white omelette with tomato, mushrooms, lot fat cheese and a sprinkle of coriander. Could not finish the omelette though the steak burger was delicious.

I did plan on opening a bottle of red wine to go with it as it was Saturday night after all…..but, a bit of a family crisis popped up on my family WhatsApp group and I ended up fielding questions and enquirers between my siblings. As I had put in an offer to drive somewhere I did not open the wine. Until later …… DH arrived home around 9.30, we had some homemade oatbran bread with cheese and ham, a glass of wine each, then off to bed! DH was up fir work at 3am hence the early night!

So a combination of family shenanigans, DH working, and being tired myself after working a 6 day week kept me away from the wine bottle.

And total shock this morning when I see 10 stone 8 and 3/4 pounds on the scale. Yay!!!

It’s definitely going to go up after today. Lots of important sport to follow today (Dublin vs Tyrone in the GAA semi-final plus the Silverstone Moto GP 🏁), there are plans for wine with DH for sure…..but hey, tomorrow is a FD so let’s go.

Very long post…but I am on a high here this morning. Oh oh oh, meant to say, I am wearing a navy shirt today which I could not get into a few weeks ago. No gape at the bust and no muffin belly either.

One other satisfying visual trick I did was measure my waist (38″) and then pull the measuring tape out to what I was 23rd July when I started. It was 42.5″ then. Stand sideways and look in a mirror and the amount of space between is very encouraging.

Have a great Sunday everybody. If I could bottle this feeling today ……..😄

@Stevetoon I am already in love with your humour, and in laughter for the great post. Going in to the gym for a spin. I am no longer in despair but in clover.

What a fabulous bunch of folks and every kindness has gladened my heart.

I got my D fins result, I pay 10% of the house value although to do so I will have to sell it and move on! At least it’s not 50%.

    Hi ho.

I did manage the FD yesterday so following it up with another one today even though it’s Sunday.

    Revenge bod on its way.

    Mari

@daffodil2010 I bet you feel amazing, well done you 😊

    Day 27……Florida…..NFD

Well the garden is salvageable, we only lost the cukes and cantaloupe. They are such fragile plants anyways. Eggplant had all it roots exposed which means I had some major dirt loss or it pack the dirt ever so tightly into the ground. Tomatoes and pepper just look a bit water logged and the beans are very droopy. Hopefully, we will be rainless with lots is sun the next couple days and everything will be on it’s way. I’m gonna have to replant the cantaloupe and cukes but when I got into the cub board would you know it, I’m out of cukes seeds. So, since I harvest my own seeds normally, it looks like a trip to the farm store is in order.

A bit surprised this morning with the scale, I’m down a lb but did nothing to provoke to go down. It probably won’t stay but such is life.

Okay, well I’m off. DH has the day off, so we going to spend the day together and I’m gonna try to be electronics free.

I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around!

I think I will try the idea of no calories between 10 pm and 12 noon. I watched the video which said that if you keep eating every few hours you never give yourself a chance to burn off any fat. Seemed to make sense. Thanks for all the support everybody. I don’t write much but I read a lot.

Day 27, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

    Maintaining nicely. 😊
    Off for another hike. Yeah!🏞

Have a great Sunday everyone! 😊⚘😊⚘😊

    Day 27, London, UK, NFD

@steve toon taxi driver…. Too funny, and pretty much sums up my life…….. I’ll be sure to let you ALL know as soon as I have my first visit in Continence!!!! With this WOL I just need to avoid too many weekends away in Consistent!!!!

@taraga, I didn’t know there were optional times of fasting, It’s funny how completing challenges for other reasons (in your case, religion) than ‘just for myself’ makes all the difference, if I have an event to attend or specific clothes to fit into …. No problem, If I’m fasting just for me I’m quite capable of letting myself down (Hhmm, I think my self-worth needs an upgrade!!!), that’s why these challenges are a Godsend!!!! I really hate letting everyone else down when they’ve sacrificed and put so much effort in and in all honesty……………. This is by far the EASIEST thing I’ve done, that has worked, AND allowed me to be ‘normal’ beside the skinny people who live on biscuits, cake and fizzy drinks!!!!!

@bigviking, I’m with you, August was a bust, but……………….. we’re still here, keeping on keeping on. September is another month and I’ve still eradicated that initial 30lbs, my brain retraining has meant this hasn’t been painful and the step back onto the wagon isn’t a very big one!!!

@rainbowsmile………..’The return of the revenge bod’………… I like it!!!!!

Stay strong everyone, I’m skipping towards September already!!!!!

    Day 27 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Waking up to a nice rain here, and the scale was okay. Off to play piano at church shortly, so will grab some quick melon to have strength for the morning.

Hope I can catch up on posts later on. Onward and downward!

    Day 27 – USA – NFD

@rainbowsmile, glad that your situation is not as dire as you thought; @Daddofil2010, isn’t it wonderful to see the other benefits of 5:2 like the inches melting off? @bert1802, relieved to hear your garden was not a total loss and good idea to go electronics-free once in a while!

Day 27 NFD didn’t do very well yesterday – food wise ok , but pocketwinos and @coda I have to own up to having far too many beers, it was very hot and it was a great day down on the seafront with all the mods down for the weekend – got a bit carried away – putting it behind me and looking to finish the month in a more positive way

Day 27 – SW WA USA – NFD

Off to church to shortly but wanted to check in.

    @daffodil2010 – Hooray! you’re a tad below August goal. That’s wonderful. No wonder you’re on a high.
I think the food I ate yesterday is still in transit. Hopefully I’ll soon also be cheering again.

@rainbowsmile – I’m glad you’re doing better and that the D stuff is coming to an end.

@emma Taylor – yes, we pick up good ideas from each other on this forum. Many of us keep to an 16:8 or so; fasting 16 hours and having an 8 hour eating window.

Enjoy your Sundays! Remember together we are stronger.

    Day 27 – UK – NFD

@daffodil2010 – Incredible results, you must be over the moon, well done.

@rainbowsmile – go girl, you can do this, love yourself!

@steve toon taxi driver- loved your post, so witty

    Happy Sunday lovely people 🤗

    Day 27–ABQ–NFD

Even though yesterday was a NFD, I abstained all day because OH was taking me to dinner at my favorite restaurant. I ate an entire TDEE in one sitting and it was definitely worth it!

The bad news is, when I recalculated my TDEE for my new age, it dropped by about 30 calories. C’est la vie. Plus OH got me a fitness watch for my birthday so no more excuses. Onward and downward.

@Stevetoon : I’ve been driven in Sane quite a lot; so far have managed to find my way home after a while but you never know what’s coming around the bend.
