  • DAY 13 QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA NFD
    whoops…. too much wine Friday night left me with a headache Saturday! So, sluggish all day. Lack of exercise in any way shape or from has seen the numbers on the scale go up! However a quiet night last night so feeling energetic today. Seafood festival is on today so will mosey on down to that for some fresh seafood and a long walk. Should be a low cal day today and a fast day tomorrow.

    Only managed 1 x FD this week , a first for a long time – going away next week so will be going for CD in a 6-8hr eating window……….

    Maintaining just below target weight despite lots of socialising this week – Pocket winos๐ŸทI have definitely not been behaving ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

    Day 12 – USA – NFD

    Second post: weigh-in: 176.4 lbs…..as expected, up quite a bit from last weigh-in. Not worried about it, as I haven’t had a proper fast day since I got my tooth pulled. It’s just healing well now, and having not had solids for a while, not caring about what I eat. I’m sure I’ll re-organize within the next week. Great aspect of this WOL!

    Day 12 Massachusetts USA NFD This week trying three 800 calorie days (including today) and one FD. I know I’ll end the week at the 6000 calorie mark, my plan for all of August. Curious to see if it works better than what I was doing. Stay tuned.

    Day 12, USA – Milwaukee, WI NFD

    Weekly weigh in today: -7 lbs, but 4 of these pounds were actually the result of getting a better, more accurate scale, so I really lost 3 this week (which I am still happy with). Thanks to those of you who gave me good scale information. I like the new one, and hope it continues to give me numbers I like. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @debster251 – Thanks for your thoughts about the FDs. I think I will try to follow your guidance with sticking to the program and trying to eat the 500 calories vs. water fasting, at least while I get used to this life again. The last time I did 5:2, I never ate on the FDs, but I tended to easily overeat on the NFDs. This week, I was able to stay under my TDEE on the NFDs, so this may work better for me. We will see as the month goes on!

    @onahealthyhigh You might be right, I should maybe try to eat something more substantial on FDs… the last time I did this I ate low fat cottage cheese and lots of raw vegetables, and I don’t think I have this reaction then . But his time I have a lot more weight to lose, to I guess I am a bit impatient ๐Ÿ˜‚ But you are right, this is NOT a diet but a WOL! I will try a new and different FD tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

    Yesterday was a fast day after all as I had forgotten that I needed to move things around after an earlier reshuffle because of the weather last week. After that I am the same weight I was at the end of July. So two weeks going sideways, but at least not up. It is taking three fast days and short eating windows every day just not to gain. No wonder I had become so enormous! Stress and hormones not helping… Still, I need to remember there is around 90lbs less of me than there was 9 months ago, a plateau can’t take that away from me.

    The scales are complaining about my Friday meal, so it’s time to knuckle down and despatch that couple of pounds.

    Had a very late night Friday drinking wine with my girlfriends so was off track yesterday. I confess to eating two, yes two, Cadburys Crunchie bars plus a packet of Tayto cheese and onion crisps in one sitting. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
    Hangover food. Not a good result on the scale today ๐Ÿ˜ก

    So today I am on a 16:8 but will eat up to my TDEE as its Sunday and my day off. Pocket winos…I am allowing myself wine (despite Friday night) but back on the wagon again tomorrow. ๐Ÿท

    I have also given myself shin splints which is agony. I walk every day but had started to do a couple of 30 second runs as high intensity training…..by Wednesday I noticed pain in my shin. As I work in a plant nursery and have to wear steel toe capped boots and I am on my feet all day, the pain got worse. So I am resting today with ice on my foot/shin. No walking today.

    Day 13 – SA – NFD

    I’ve been flat on my back with flu for the past 8 days. No fasting, apart from the first day of flu when I felt too nauseous to eat anything. I stood on the scale this morning and I’m down 6.7 lbs / 3.1 kg since I weighed myself about two weeks ago.

    I’m going to aim for one fast day this week, most likely Thursday. I also want to start cleaning up my diet again and get rid of foods that I know I don’t thrive on. Grains and sugar are the main culprits there.

    Day13 UK NFD

    Busy day yesterday, cleaning cottage for new guests. Our first “fortnighters” they not only brought the dog but their elderly cat as well! As usual they are a lovely family – we’ve been so lucky with our guests since deciding to rent out the cottage.
    As a reward for the hard work we walked to the pub (got the celebration dance on the Fitbit for hitting 10000 steps on the way home), my OH went for the steak and chips option and I had sea bass, it was lovely and under 500 cals. Pocket winos ๐ŸทI actually did it – yesterday was first glass of wine since last Sunday.

    Looking at Fitbit stats reminded me that I’ve lost 14 lbs since I got it on 17th June. That’s a stone in 2 months which included birthday celebrations, several Anniversary celebrations and a cruise holiday. Sometimes I get discouraged by the slow pace but that sort of put it into perspective for me. It shows this WOL works.

    Day 13……Florida…..CD

    So, yesterday maybe on purpose, maybe on accident, I did a 24 hour fast with only water, coffee and 2 diet soda/fizzy drinks. I had to work yesterday, it only a short day, so no lunch hour. I get out at two, run around until 3. Come home have a cup of coffee, look up its 4pm. No sense in eating now, I’ll be making dinner in a couple hours. 7:30pm, I sit down with the family for a proper meal. Okay, so it was carb loaded pasta dish with bread. But, I did my first 24 hour with liquids only!

    So, with that happening, I’ve decided to stay with 16:8 but go back own to the basics of 5:2. Let’s see what happens!

    @fatrabbit…… plateauing was I think was not as much difficult as it was frustrating for me but it made me realize a great deal about myself and this WOL. First was the great support system, we have in each other, and it’s true together we are stronger.
    Second, I am strong then I orginially thought. Even though, I was frustrated, I didn’t give up and cave in to food. So, I know the maintenance part will be easy!
    Although, I was on plateau mountain and the scales were not giving up anything good, my clothes were. I was still shrinking!
    Fat rabbit….. hold on you can do this !

    Okay, well only one day off before a long work week, so, I’m off to bring my house up to liveable standards.

    I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around!

    Day 13 – USA – NFD

    As predicted, Cruella gave me back the few pounds I lost while not eating because of my tooth extraction/sore mouth. Weigh-in Saturday was 176.4, up 3.8 lbs! I only had 1 fast day in the past 2 weeks, but now that I’m all healed up and eating regularly (and then some), back to the serious, but fascinating business of the 5:2 WOL.

    Great FD yesterday, lots of melon, water and salad to get me through the day, I’m feeling proud today and it never fails to surprise me just how easy ‘some’ FDs can be!!!

    Must make today a more controlled day than yesterday. Had a BBQ birthday party with daughter’s friends, and everything tasted so good. Maintenance is where I am, and I sure don’t want to gain anything back.

    Not weighed in as away for the weekend in Cardiff. Had a lovely steak dinner last night, so I’m probably not going to like what the scales tell me tomorrow but I decided I wasn’t going to worry and just enjoy the weekend away. Back to it tomorrow.

    Well I thought I had a CD yesterday until I got on the scales this morning and Iโ€™m up in weightโ€ฆ.gerrrr.

    Today will be another challenge as I have a card game scheduled with girlfriends this afternoon. Just an excuse to drink champagne and eat chocolate. What is a girl to do!!

    Iโ€™m not going to let the scales discourage me. I may have champagne and chocolate this afternoon but I will fast up to the event and not over do. Tomorrow I fast!!

    @saffy420 – Excellent job with limiting wine. A stone in 2 two months is a fantastic reward!!

    Day 13 Massachusetts USA I made myself swim this morning even though the sun was playing hide and seek. I always feel better when I do- our lake water is. cold and bracing. @fatrabbit I was on the most stubborn plateau for 3 months. I think I’m beyond it now but I won’t know until the 31st since I only weigh myself once a month. A shout out to all my dedicated companions!

    183lb on my weigh in day 1lb above goal might have something to do with the large amount of alcohol I had yesterday see where I am mid week.
    I’m never drinking again lol anyone else ever said these words ๐Ÿ˜ฃ.
    Heavy rain yesterday but it dryed up and the sun came out an hour before the wedding started which helped make it a lovely day.

    Just starting out on 5:2, had all 500 calories at 6pm, smoked salmon and egg salad with strawberries as dessert.
    Lots of water and camomile tea throughout the day. Long walk with dogs in the afternoon.
    Feeling surprisingly energetic and not tempted at all……….pleased with this start as I was quite nervous about all day fast.
    Going to read about HIT now ๐Ÿ™‚

    Yeah, first fast day in two weeks and I’m really looking forward to it. Starting the day with a black coffee and will finish this evening with a huge bowl of chicken and vegetable soup. Lots of tea, water and a cup of miso will see me through the day. Planning to do 2 FDs this week but due to commitments later in the week will have to do a b2b, only the second one I’ll have done since starting 3 years ago next month!

    @steve taxi driver sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. Yes, I’ve said that many times. The longest I went was 6 months!

    @keetseel sounds yum. I’ve never heard of mujadeera, I’ll have to look it up.

    @awilson hopefully the gain will pass. Probably water weight or food in transit. As a serial weigher, weighing myself several times a day, I learned to understand the daily fluctuations in weight. The only weight I tracked was the one after my 2nd FD. Overall the trend was always downwards despite daily fluctuations.

    @saffy I know, we all want it gone today, but slow and steady is great. I can still recall the morning I hopped on the scale and saw my goal weight for the first time in years. Reaching goal had taken 7 months of steadily losing 1 to 1.5 lb per week. I look back now and know if I had been frustrated with my progress I’d still weigh 74kg or more. Hang in there, one fast day at a time.

    Pocket winos I made it. I had a small beer on Saturday and a glass of wine on Sunday. Feeling good. So my goal is no wine till Saturday.

    @fatrabbit Sorry to hear you’re feeling stressed. Is it finding your maintainance level or is life getting in the way? We’re missing your delightful tales from the sanctuary. You have so much support here so if there is anything we can do, just ask.

    It’s a new week, let’s do this.

    Day 13, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

    Hello all, finishing off my four day weekend with a nice fresh salad with cucumbers and tomatoes given to me by a lovely lady at church today. Had a much more controlled eating weekend especially compared to last weekend.

    Ready to start my first of three water only fasts tomorrow breaking the fast each day at 6 p.m. with a 500 calorie or less meal. Looking forward to the reset.

    Going back to read some posts, hope everybody is doing well.

    Day 14 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 82.7kg

    My goal this week will be to burn off 1 kg of fat. That is a bit extreme but I have about a week in which I can do extra fasting. I’m going to start tomorrow and just see if I can’t make it 100 hours. 100 hours won’t be enough to burn 1kg but it would be getting me into the ballpark. Probably can burn ~200 grams of fat per 24 hours once it gets going. I believe I have ~7kg of fat that I can easily afford to lose.

    Am trying to keep track of calories on NFD just to see and found I had an accidental FD on Saturday of 750cal, greater than my usual ~400cal for a FD but I’m choosing to be kind to myself. Skipping breakfast is helping. Also tried miso on the weekend, drank half a cup, I almost like it, it’s an acquired taste for sure!

    Day 14 | Sydney Australia | FD

    Well I guess that, for me, the past couple of weeks have been an exercise in “maintenance”. Having lost 18 kg in less than 3 months I’ve been going off the rails to a shocking extent on my NFDs for the past 2 weeks. The good news, if you can call it that, is that I’m maintaining my weight. I doubt that this is a healthy way of maintaining my weight though.

    At least I know what I need to do. And it isn’t like I’ve regained a heap of weight, thrown my hands in the air, and given up.

    My tenth wedding anniversary is on Friday and my wife and I are going to a buffet lunch in a hotel in the city to celebrate. I don’t think Friday is going to be a fasting day.

    And I’m off to Thailand for a couple of weeks this coming weekend. I don’t think I’ll be fasting. I will try to be sensible when it comes to eating and drinking…. stick to small servings of mango and sticky rice at least. I don’t usually gain much weight while I’m on holiday in Thailand because I tend to do a lot of walking around in the heat of the day. My fitness levels are reasonably good so I should be okay.

    Really need this FD after a savage weekend of wine. Up 3 pounds this morning. Serve me right. Yesterday was unplanned and no need for the excess. Feeling sorry for myself with shin splints so allowed myself rubbishy snacks.
