  • Day9 UK FD

Well yesterday came in at under 1100 calories, great apart from about 800 of them was junk! I was stuck in traffic on the way home so stopped at services on the M6. I was starving as I had avoided the buffet lunch provided by the organisers of my meeting. So feeling proud (and we all know pride goes before a fall) I’d had apple and strawberries at lunch. I thought I could have a sandwich as wouldn’t feel like tea when I got home. So temptation was there in the Marks and Spencer outlet. Boy did I give In to it. All the fresh food was reduced so I had a nice prawn sandwich followed by a chocolate brownie and a packet of crisps. When I got home I had a chocolate biscuit with a cup of tea! I felt horrible, heart was racing and I had really bad leg cramps in the night.

Looking forward to today’s FD now to get rid of all that crap in my body.
@okeydokey – good luck with the tooth. Having suffered something similar last month I know how it feels. @rahul1905, sending you a hug and positive thoughts.
@stevetoontaxidriver, I’m with you on stones, I see peoples weight posted here and have to do mental gymnastics to convert. Can’t get my head around Kgs at all. Pease pudding though- yuk is all I’ll say. One of mums favourites and memories of childhood meals trying to force it down.

    Day 8……Florida…..NFD

Back to the grid stone this morning. So you all will be getting less ramble from me. I’m trying for FD today but really not sure how it’s going to workout so, I’m putting NFD down

@dykask…… I think the majority of Americas restaurants and store really have the value of food backwards. It kills me because of the high obesity census. However, I also believe it a convenience thing too. Many of us, want to eat healthier but we are all over worked and under paid. A couple years ago, my company closed, so I was part of a lay-off and with money being tight, I started my garden to ensure we got enough healthy variety. It’s also why I only grocery shop monthly.
In recent years, I have also noticed the influx of so called diet foods taking over our shelves. It’s crazy the cost of these, yet people are buying them in attempts to be healthy.

I’m not sure who said they hide the fact that they are IFing. I completely understand not wanting to explain and beat off stupid comments but I have found majority of people just don’t understand IF. I used to hide it as well, then when people started noticing, I just started to educate them. Now, I don’t hide anything…. good luck to you all

    Okay well I’m off!

I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around

    Day 9, Belfast, NFD

Feeling great about not having had a drink since Saturday. I hope I can hang in there with the Pocket Winos until this Saturday.

We are quite skint (that is, poor!) this month due to a couple of booked holidays, so I’m raiding the freezer for dinners, which is probably increasing my NFD calories. Quiche, spuds and green beans last night…but, with no booze, perhaps it’ll all even out. Getting good swims in and walking the doggies too, so it’s all good.

My eldest step-daughter gave birth to a baby boy on Monday (grandchild #3). I’m a step-gran again lol!!

    Good luck everyone today!

😂😂😂 oh holy… i see now that the metric system is too easy, no fun. Maybe i should flip my scale from kg to lbs, so i can follow you guys 😂

    2nd post.

So after yesterday’s pig out I’ve lost 2lbs. How did that happen?
    @belfastsink congratulations 🎉

Day 9 – USA (Illinois – traveling to Utah) – NFD

Good FD yesterday, about 800 calories, mostly because I wanted to eat up some leftovers before leaving today for daughter’s in Utah. Hopefully can also meet up again with redrockgirl out there. Weighed in back at 158# this morning – right where I want to stay in maintenance.

Yes, many people do look at you like you’ve joined a cult with our WOL! @maayyaa just wait until they see your results, and they will be coming to you wanting to know your secret. More and more people are hearing about IF, though, and its success and health benefits.

@steve toon taxi driver — wow, what an impressive and albeit very confusing list of measurements!
@belfastsink – congrats on your new grand! I’m excited to see my 2 who are in Utah.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 9, USA, NFD

LindaSue, you nailed it: “It feels so good to be so good.” Always helps to remember this awesome feeling.

Hi Dykask – interesting observation about US vs Japanese food; from my experience I think you’re right. But I’d love to eat Japanese food so often I’d get bored with it!

I’m in Florida too, Bert1802, but I think you’re the only person I know with an eating-garden. It does surprise me why people don’t have a lot of fruit trees in their back yard. (We have not had much success with growing herbs – what is it about this climate?!)

@penz……. we don’t have a fruit tree in our yard besides the lemon, that my OS bought my OH for Father’s Day, however, my neighbors have tons. I’d love to have an apple tree if the weather would allow it. We go through 10lb of apples a week. My YS loves apples.
About your herbs, have you tried an herb box? I think the sandy soil gives them a funky taste, but with those you’ve got to be careful they are temperamental. So, I’ve got all mine in a herb box which is off the ground. I’m over run with parsley and oregano…
another trick, try browning them inside too. I’ve grown zucchini in the house cuz it can’t take the heat.

Day 9, Hampshire, UK – NFD

Had my first successful August FD yesterday, it wasn’t easy as I was very hungry since I have not fasted in 10 days, I think I finished the day around 600cal which I am happy with.

Today was luckily a NFD for me as my Italian manager has returned form holiday with lots of bread, cheese, salami & bread- I’m not sure I could have resisted this on a FD. I had a little of everything with my small salad for lunch so not feeling like I over indulged. I plan to hit the gym later followed by grilled chicken and veg for dinner so should be a well balanced NFD.

Day 9 Akron OH 2nd B2B FD. @rahul1905 I feel your pain and I am sending you hugs as well.
@at thanks for the tip to adjust my TDEE. when I first started IF I set my TDEE to my goal weight which was 155 lbs. at the time, I was able to exceed that by dropping to 151 lbs.. I decided I really liked my silhouette at that weight ; its the slimmest I have ever been in my entire life. So that’s my new goal 151lbs, I don’t believe I ever readjusted my TDEE using my new goal number. Although my BMI is normal now, 151lbs places me right at the low end of my BMI.
So I will readjust and keep plugging away. I don’t expect the weight to fall off me like it did when I first started as I am currently at normal BMI, however I will enjoy the health benefits of IF while I work at getting to and maintaining my happy weight.

Days 6 to 9 all NFD

Apologies for lack of posts. I’m off work so not at a computer all day and it’s taken me ages to catch up. Day 6 turned into a blowout and Monday was planned as a fast but turned into around 1000 calories. Kept yesterday controlled too though so weekend damage has been undone and definitely felt better for the nearly fast on Monday. Haven’t managed a proper fast since I hit maintenance and am missing it, also missing the gym. Routine is all to pot though with school summer hols so will just let it flex I think and worry about consistent routine in September.

    Day 9 USA NFD
Ended up having a successful FD yesterday after not having success the day before-Yay small victories! Lots of exercise and avoiding food after 5:00 really helped. Took a new type of yoga class from a colleague of mine that featured a lot of planking, so I am feeling it this morning!

The imperial measurement system is extremely simple once you can distinguish between a wheat grain and a barley grain. Lol 🤣😁
Where would we all be without good old Google

I added sugars back in when I started IF last week. I don’t like them. Most don’t taste good and my body doesn’t feel good after eating them. Still, among the unpleasant sugars, dark chocolate and high-fat chocolate ice cream still please me!
I want to stick to my previous diet and just eat natural foods without the refined sugar; the problem is that it requires mental fortitude and will power. Once i’ve fasted, I want to reward myself with hedonic (pleasure) eating. I need to choose a different reward, such as going back to the regular satisfaction of hedonic eating of healthy food! I’ve found that “not wanting” the sugary food is better than wanting it and denying myself. A friend told me to think “I don’t want that” instead of “I can’t have that.” Going without sugar for a few weeks helps to get to the “not wanting” stage.
Welcome to those coming to Utah! Enjoy!

    fast day today!

    Day 9 – USA – FD

@belfastsink, congrats on the birth of your 3rd grandchild! @saffy420, good for you – you tricked your body by carbing up! @songbirdme, have fun with the grandkids and DD in Utah! @basyjames, I have a similar goal of 150 lbs., but I’m still 25 lbs away; glad you are at a good BMI. Mine is horrible at the moment: 35.7, but on this site, it’s 30.0! Can’t figure that one out.

Day 9, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Thanks for the kind words. I truly try to be a happy, optimistic person as I love my life and am grateful for it. But, never grateful enough.

Third fast day in a row, feeling great and stomach is flat as a pancake (okay, maybe a slightly fluffy buttermilk pancake). haha.. I happened to be smoothing my blouse and realized how much flatter and firmer my stomach area feels.

Ate at 6 last night, plan to eat nothing until 6 tonight then eat less than 500 calories. Tomorrow is my day out with friends and Friday is my day out with my husband which will include the Mexican restaurant but I truly feel that I will eat mindfully this weekend. I overdid it last weekend with all the company and didn’t feel good at all. Just picked at stuff but still it was more than I normally would eat.

Wishing all well. Song Bird Me, I went to the website and loved your photo. You are so pretty and the colorful dress was perfect, just lovely for a summer concert. I have on a silver crinkly top with that type of sleeves today and just love it. The setting was gorgeous as well, what an amazing amphitheater. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a safe, fun trip !

    Day 9, Gozo Malta, fd

I’m fasting with my husband today who also wants to lose weight.

I’m 70 kilos this morning. I’m 3.6 kilos more than I was before the cruise. I’d like to be 64 kilos though again. So I’ll be fasting today and Friday this week at around 700 calories. I had only water until noon. So that must be a 15 hour fast.

Thanks Debster251 for the welcome. 36 years ago today I got married to my wonderful husband.

Have a great day everyone, onwards and downwards.

Day 9 Lancaster, PA 🇺🇸 FD

Only liquids so far today. Because I can’t eat solid foods, even cottage cheese is painful… I didn’t realize that I had to chew cottage cheese. I’m not able to eat all the wonderful veggies for salads I have in the fridge. To painful to eat. So basically yogurt and plenty of probiotics for me for this week. I will make some bone broth and cook the veggies down to soup✨ also for this week.✨😊✨
    @annemarilyn & @metatauta Thank-you for the encouraging words and powerful healing thoughts.✨
@metatauta. I’m wishing you a speedy recovery that goes well.✨
    @belfastsink ✨🍬🍼Congratulations on again being a step-gran!👼wishing your family well!✨
@saffy420 🤷‍♀️huh ✨Maybe staying active, keeps metabolism up and you lost 2lbs! 🎉Congratulations✨
@rahul1905 I can understand your pain and anguish. Hugs, Prayers and Wishing you well on ✨conceiving a beautiful baby 👶✨

    ✨ ☀️ 🌈✨Wishing everyone health and wellness!✨
✨Keep the faith and keep the fast!✨😊✨

Regarding the earlier question about Aldi’s – Lidl stores, I actually thought they were the same German chain, just different names at different locales. But, it appears they are rivals, Lidl working off of Aldi’s model but with bigger stores and their secret weapon, Heidi Klum’s clothing line – yeah, that will get me in there ! Not, but the crackers will. haha..

Here is a link to an article I just read,

    Day 9 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Lovely day out with DD 🌤- broke my fast from yesterday with brunch out before we spent a couple of hours window shopping and OK I admit it we did buy a couple of things………a couple of lovely tops from Joules for me 👚
Brunch was one slice of brown sourdough bread with, wilted spinach and button mushrooms sautéed with some harissa and a poached egg on top – delicious!!!

@anna6 – lovely to see you back and nice to hear that you enjoyed your cruise 🛳
    @lindasue – 😇
@maayyaa – the food you mentioned probably adds up to 1100cals at a conservative estimate…..
@daffodil2010 – well done on getting below that 11stone!
@bigviking – I totally understand 🍷and Kettle chips = lethal combination!! Just park that episode and dust yourself down and today is another day!
    @steve-toon-taxi-driver – 😁your post – not confusing at all!!!!!!!!!!!
@belfastsink – congratulations on the arrival of the arrival of your 3rd grandchild 👶step grandma!
@xrox – well done on getting that first August FD under your belt 👍
@songbirdme – enjoy your visit with DD in Utah, not forgetting those grandkids
@debster251 – thank you for looking after us this month 💐

I’m with the group that don’t hide the fact that I FAST – I share with anyone who shows the remotest bit of interest……..😀

Day 9 – McMinnville Oregon USA FD

Very stressful week with just about every piece of equipment in our house deciding it’s time to die. 🏚 💰 I let it all get to me….gerrrr.
On a positive note, I had a successful FD yesterday and I’m going to try a b2b today.

    Love reading all your posts.🌸

    Day 9, Emden Germany, NFD

Okeydokey, just wanted to say that I am so sorry you are hurting. Hopefully you will heal quickly, even before your produce spoils. – Yeah, that quickly!

Day 9, Mountaintop PA USA, NFD

I read on one of the posts about not eating until you feel really hungry. I usually eat sparingly on the NFDs as well as the FD’s. Yesterday the day after my Monday FD I took my walk, ate my usual waffle and fruit for breakfast and got on with a fairly busy day. I had a few nuts in my lunch bag and some apple slices and a clementine. Ate the nuts and that was it for the day. Never did feel really hungry enough for the fruit or a meal even though it was the day after the FD. This morning I was down another 1.5 lbs, which is what I usually do for the month. I am what I consider below my goal and it is a very different feeling to lose without really trying. I have never done B2B FD’s, but yesterday was pretty much one of those. Fast 5:3 IF continues to amaze me.

Thanks to all for sharing your insights and experiences.

@lindasue thanks for visiting our choir page And for the sweet compliments!

@okeydokey ugh…hope you get pain relief soon!

    Day 5 – Herts, UK – NFD
    Day 6 – Herts, UK – NFD
    Day 7 – Herts, UK – FD
    Day 8 – Herts, UK – NFD
    Day 9 – London, UK – NFD

It’s lovely catching up with everyone’s messages. Busy weekend – I forgot to have lunch on Saturday (so distracted – this is very unlike me!) then ate a recipe I was trying out for fast days for dinner, so all quite virtuous. I collected my OH from Heathrow on Sunday afternoon though, and we went out for a celebratory dinner…. Much less calorie-controlled!

I had an easy FD on Monday, unexpectedly – with the amount of limoncello consumed at the end of Sunday night’s meal, I thought it would be very tricky. Although he did not join in with a full FD, OH really enjoyed the prawn salad I made for dinner. So much carrot and greenery, it was piled high on the plate, plus lots of chilli heat and some luxurious king prawns – it’s a winner, and only 270cal.

Good Pilates class yesterday (ouch) but no long walk tonight – very heavy rain. And no more fast days this week – I should be doing one today because plans changed, but I’d already had breakfast and a cappuccino by that point… and also, RAIN. Out to an open air play tomorrow with friends (fingers crossed for better weather), all sharing a picnic. And hosting a meal on Friday night, so that’s that.

    @lindasue – I definitely identify with that energised/hyper feeling!

@coda – enjoy your horse riding in Co Antrim. My mum is from Ballymena, and I’m hoping to go over soon and re-explore all the places she showed me as a child – the Glens and Larne, and eating icecream in Carnlough Bay. Thanks for making me think of it all!

Day 9 – SW WA USA – FD

Doing 2 and maybe 3 FDs this week so will be a 5:2 or 4:3. We’ll see.
Planking is going well; building up my time. Will soon add in variations to the elbow plank.

@anna6 – Happy Anniversary! Enjoy celebrating.
@awilson – good for you for getting a successful FD in even in the midst of things going wrong
@songbirdme – I also found the FB page. What a lovely setting & fun summer dress! It’s funny that I thought you were a brunette, but now I know you’re a blond 🙂
@steve toon taxi driver – interesting info on weights in the UK

Have a great day everyone! Together we are stronger!

    Day 9 California USA NFD

Back down to 138.8 62.9 after the fiasco on the weekend with the potato chips. I have been in the 138’s for a couple weeks now, mostly due to a few days of eating mindlessly here and there, not a plateau. I really need to get into the 137’s!

@belfastsink – Congratulations on the birth of your new grandchild! I think once there are grandchildren they aren’t “step” anymore because you know them from tjphe get-go!

@okeydokey – Are you getting that tooth fixed this week? Sounds great for the weight loss, but not very much fun in general!

    @ Anna6 – Happy Anniversary!

    Day 8, London, UK, NFD
    Day 9, London, UK, NFD

Late check-in today, had a wonderful but emotional day yesterday for my dad’s funeral, the expected torrential rain and flooding never materialised, so I’m grateful for that.

I’ll play the remainder of the week by ear, but it’ll be 16:8 minimum.

    Day 9, Cheshire UK, FD
So today was my 4th FD since I started. I’m finding I’m less and less hungry on FD, or rather, I feel the hunger but don’t ‘need’ to eat. Today I’ve eaten nothing until the evening meal, which was quinoa, asparagus, mushrooms and cottage cheese. Sounds disgusting but tastes surprisingly good. Managing to keep below the TDEE on NFD, and also at or around the daily calorie level on Fitbit (which is usually around 1450-1500 cal depending on how much walking I’ve done).

    Hi all
Checking in. Monday was a FD. I went from a high of 155 lbs. (too indulgent of a weekend) to 153.4 on Tuesday and Wed. (today). Encouraged, I’m having another FD today. So far two eggs and coffee and not feeling hungry, for a change. Its 12:40 pm here (California) so hopefully I’ll just have a big salad with some protein tonight.

Day 9 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

    Day 3 NFD!

    D9 London, UK. FD

Just scraping in at 500 calories, 5th fast day since starting. Not seeing much change on the scales yet, but it’s only been 2 weeks soI’m staying committed and hopeful, as well as pleased with all the health benefits this should bring.

I did it lost 2ibs this week . It will get better and easier for me to follow ( happy dance )

Day 9 Massachusetts USA FD @flourbaby So sorry about your Dad.
Today had to be a FD but changed my pattern since I was meeting my sister for lunch. I had my “big” meal mid-day at a Mediteranean restaurant. We shared fish, vegetables, hummus, and a tiny bit of pita bread. I’ve got 70 calories left so salad it is tonight! My lunch was so healthy and delicious.

    @flourbaby
Thinking of you at this sad time.

    Day 9 UK FD

Posting late as just home after a busy day out! Made it a fast day and managed almost 27 hour fast. Have only had small green salad with ham and some berries and yogurt so pretty successful ! Kitchen now closed and in bed so no more food tonight. That’s the longest fast I’ve had and to be honest it was fine. May try that again and see if results are good.
Catching up on all today’s posts now.

    Day 9 – FD
    Day 8 – NFD

So far, so good. This will be only my 2nd FD since re-starting. I remember that after a couple of weeks, fasting became much easier, and I am hoping for the same experience this time. I’m full of black coffee and water today, and looking forward to a 500c meal in a couple of hours.

For those of you who have scales which measure all – fats vs. bones vs. muscle… which brand do you use? It is a purchase I want to make this weekend. I had a body mass scan done a couple of years ago at my gym, and found my ideal weight is about 25 lbs more than the doctor’s office charts indicate, as I have large bone and muscle mass. I was told that I would be too thin if I followed the mainstream charts. I’m not likely to ever be “too thin,” especially at my age, but it was interesting information. Has anyone else had this experience?

    Day 9 – ABQ – NFD

Here are questions for the forum:
As I’m nearing my goal weight, I’m wondering about all those formulas for ideal weight that people are talking about. Almost every formula puts me (at goal) way above ideal but those formulas tell me to be around 130 lbs (I’m 5’-6”), which I haven’t been since I was about sixteen years old. If I make it to 145 can I be done? I don’t mean done with the WOL but I mean with the weight loss part of it?
Does anyone have a source they trust? How did you all decide on your goals?

    And some notes:
@lilymartin –Hope your mom is feeling better now.
@maayaa—I was born and raised in Tucson. It’s a wonderful place but I couldn’t go back there to live—too many sad memories now that all the family has gone.
@dykask and @ Bert1802 —I can keep my food bills low here if I don’t buy: 1) meat, 2) fancy cheese, and 3) booze. Sigh. Brown rice, beans and veggies are pretty affordable, even sometimes the organics if you buy in-season or go to COSTCO. And if you avoid special diet foods!
@bigviking—Oh, wine, Kettle Chips AND Pringles? That sounds like self-sabotage! 
@saffy420—do you think your leg cramps were from the food you ate? Congrats on the weight loss, though.
@ Flourbaby—So sorry to hear about your dad.

    And finally, today’s report:
Had a successful (<800) fast day yesterday, but I’m incredibly hungry and tired now (I’ve already eaten over 1000 calories and it’s only 3:30). Shoulders aching in the night so no planks. Tonight is dance class. I always go feeling tired and by the end feel really good.

    2nd post–

@sydwil2–I have a Tanita scale and it tells you body fat %, bone mass and muscle mass as well as water %, Metabolism in calories, metabolic age, visceral fat and physique rating. I think it’s accurate within a few percent. The good part of having one is that you can really see how being a little dehydrated can throw off all the numbers. I try to take the numbers at least every other day to stay accountable and keep them on a chart provided by Tanita. It’s gratifying to see that, although my weight goes up and down by the day, the overall trajectory has been down.

    Day 9 – USA – NFD

Well, I planned a FD, but it turned into a NFD. Not sure if I’m going to make up with another FD this week. My extracted tooth that was pulled 5 days ago is healing. Until 2 days ago, all I had was liquids and very soft food. I had 2 real meals in the past 2 days and I don’t really care about the calories/carb content. I’m sure I’ll balance out soon.

@ keetseel….. as a once a month shopper. I admit, I buy meat, and enough cheese to bind the nation up…..lol. I don’t meal plan so much but I do recycle left overs. Okay, I know what your thinking recycle leftovers ?!? It my fancy way of saying I take left overs and make a new meal. Example…. meatloaf or burgers turn into chilli, left over roast chicken turns into enchiladas and soup, broccoli and cheese soup turns in to scalloped potatoes and so on. We don’t drink so, I don’t spend money on that and the only time we get a good sweet treat is Sundays. The rest of the weeks kids snack on fruits, veg and popcorn. With the garden, I spend around 150$ US dollars on food a month.
The key to spending so little, is I make just about everything from scratch. I buy every little processed food. Plus, we only order in or go out to eat once a month with a budget of only 30$.
Having a small food budget and being healthy it’s fairly easy once you get into the habit. I must admit, when I put this plan into action, my family thought I was nuts, and they thought they were going to starve. I really did not think I was going to make it, especially when the cupboards and freezer became sparse.
I also must admit, I did my June shop on the 20th and I didn’t go until the 7th of Aug.
and for Aug. I only spent $80.
Okay… well spilled enough of my guts for today. I just believe with a tight budget and healthy eating both can be done as long as your willing to put in the works

@flowerbaby : wish you peace today.

@keetseel : consider using skin fold calipers to measure your skin thickness on your abdomen. then a chart that comes with je calipers tells you your body fat %. although the calipers are accurate only if you use them correctly, as you measure over time, you’ll see a trend. because you are the only person who measures, you’ll get a measurement that is consistent. this adds to other measurements-weight, bmi, waist size-to give you a snapshot of your health.
in general, i think of you are able to physical activity without restriction and you feel good, you are healthy.

    Still say 9

    @flourbaby – (((hugs))) It’s rough losing a dad.

@bert1802 – I’m so impressed with your food budget. Think I need to rethink my habits. There’s just me & I spend more than that, I’m sure. I’ll plan on keeping track so I make every $ behave, as Dave Ramsey says.

    Day 9 – USA – NFD

Third post – @flourbaby, so sorry for your loss. (((hugs)))

    Day 10 – Tokyo Japan – NFD 80.8kg

79.6kg after a light workout. It is really hot right now since typhoon Noru pushed tropical weather. The Noru missed Tokyo but the tropical weather sure hit us.

@debster251 I use an Omron Body Composition Monitor with Scale, this one to be exact: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001803OS6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It uses a lot of factors to try and determine visceral fat. That actual number can be off but the direction is a good indicator. There are better devices, but that one is reasonable for the price.

The main problem with bio-impedance is you have to use it consistently at the same level of hydration otherwise there is a lot of variance. One can combine with skin fold measurements to get a better idea of body fat. Last August I was at 13% visceral fat and 24.5% body fat by the scale. I also had a DEXA scan and that put me at 10.7% trunk (mostly visceral) fat and 24.1% total body fat. So the scales was in the ball park but high on the visceral measurement. Ideally visceral fat should be no more than 7% for men. Everyone will have some visceral fat if you are healthy.

When I had the DEXA scan I was at 86.7kg. I was about 1/2 through healing my elbows so I was a little on the low side for upper body muscles. So my current body fat measurements are probably high. Skin fold becomes worthless when you get to the point that you are just measuring skin. There is a normal thickness to skin.

Anyway if you are going to use these types of methods you have to be a bit into the numbers. I have an BSEE (Electrical engineering degree) so I’m very comfortable with bio-impedance. It can be a good cheap method but very few people seem to understand how to use it correctly. Also scales that only measure through the feet are not normally accurate.

@bert1802 – Wow your diet sounds very healthy. Typically when I’m in the states I’m living out of a hotel. That is when I run into the difficulties eating healthy. If I move back I hope I can have a yard for a garden and some fruit/nut trees. At least if you have a place you can buy in bulk too. It just takes a little more effort. In Japan if you go into a 7-11 and buy lunch the odds are it will be a reasonable meal. You could go to the counter and order things like a corn dog (American dog is what they call it) or other fried foods but you have ask for them. In the USA what is sold in 7-11’s is mostly kind of scary.

@keetseel – Food isn’t really that cheap in Japan, it is just junk food is typically more expensive than healthy food. You can go into a McDonalds and get a big burger, fries and a shake but it will probably run you more than $10 USD or one can just grab a bento that is at least halfway healthy for around $5 USD. Cheese isn’t that great in Japan and it is horrible expensive but I still buy it. It typically runs a little more than $20 UDS / kg.

My ideal weight range for my height is 49-57kg which I think is pretty low but maybe I’ve been overweight all my life…
@keetseel I picked my weight goal of 60kg from my most consistent pre-pregnancy, fit weight as an adult. But I’m very flexible about it, really I am just trying to be healthy with IF and the discarding of fat is a very welcome side effect. I’m really curious to see where my weight will stop.

    Drink lots of water everyone!
