  • Day 12, Cornwall UK, FD

Hello @onlyhermes – I remember joining this group as the heaviest last year. I scrolled through the spreadsheet thinking most people were lightweights! Months later things have changed and although I am not a lightweight yet, my progress is looking promising. Stick with it and this group will get you there.

    Day 12 – USA – NFD

Yesterday’s FD was a success, 493 cals. I am always tempted to jack it up to 800, but I know me….and I know the 800 cal. allowance will become habit and then I’ll get sloppy in those last FD hours and wind up with a CD.

Day 12 🇺🇸 (Texas visiting) NFD
Travel day went just fine yesterday and managed not to overeat any. Yeah for that!

DD here in Austin is a singer/performer, so other DD and I are going to the luncheon where she will perform today. Austin is quite a healthy city, so I expect the lunch will likewise be healthy.

Not sure I will be able to keep up on posts for a few days, but know I am with you all in heart and mind.
Yes, will-power and knowing you’re not alone is a big part of our WOL.

    Onward and downward.

Day 12, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

It is rainy, getting colder and there will be snow soon. 🌨 🌨🌨 My poor blooming peach tree!🌸🌸🌸
Well, I also blew the 2 last fast days. They morphed into CDs but staying under my TDEE.

Have a good Thursday everyone! ⚘⚘⚘

It has been a pretty tough week for me, struggling to get back on the wagon, but not given up! lol

    Day 12 FD Oregon USA

Didn’t really succeed with controlled NFD yesterday. There was a bag of pita chips involved.
Didn’t sleep well despite my magnesium and feeling hungry already this morning ON A FD!!
    😞😞
Sigh… don’t need my mojo following yours out on walkabout @debster251.
And I believe @daffodil and @ flourbaby we are stuck in the same bleak drizzly weather. So grey…

Going to focus on water today. Which I forgot to add in my earlier post from the accupuncturist… can’t be consumed all at once as something to do with kicking your kidneys into overdrive and they flush it all through. Has to be consistent through the day.
Aiming for 30 ounces AM/PM/EVE which will mean trips to the bathroom at night but oh well.

Day 12 – Atlanta, GA, USA – FD

Today is a surprise Fast Day and this will be my 3rd Fast Day in this week. I might break bit earlier may be around 4pm.

    Good Luck Everyone

    Day 12 – Massachusetts – FD

Eating lightly today as the festivities for my friend’s wedding this weekend start tomorrow! Really excited, but not exactly good for the waist, lol. What do I plan on eating today? I am not entirely sure, so this FD may end up a bit of a mess, but will try.

    Everyone enjoy your FD!

    Day 12 Second post.

A friend shared this and I wanted to share with you guys:

“There is no such thing as going back to square one; even if you feel like you are starting over, you are trying with more knowledge, strength, power and wisdom than you had before. Your journey never ended, it was marking time and waiting in place for you to find it and keep going. Your “mess-ups” do not define you, they add context and flavor to the complex individual that you are”

    Hi everyone!

I haven’t posted in a while, sorry! My week has been pretty good. First week resulted in 1,2kg weight loss, very happy about that. Had a fast day last Monday (498cals) and another one today (497cals).
Going into the weekend with the goal of tracking my calories, because even though they are NFD’s, I want to be in control. Last weekend it was very hard to track and although I didn’t gain much weight, it still didn’t feel right that I didn’t know how much I was eating.

    Added myself for the pocket list for today;

2nd FD. So far, so good. I’ve past my hunger period, usually around 3:00 pm. Still not getting my exercise in like i want.
@basyjames thanks for posting that quote. Feel better already.
Can someone tell me what is “pocket list”?

    Day 12 UK FD

Late post as super busy at work and also at home this evening too!
Managed another FD today and was so busy anyway, had no time to think about eating !

Day 12 – SW WA USA – FD

3rd FD of the week. A little hungry at lunch so had a partial boiled egg (some had escaped during boiling) & a couple of pieces of SF chocolate. Then made my “fauxbucks” at home – decafe espresso, nut milk, cocoa powder & stevia and headed back to school. Expecting to have some of the homemade chicken soup I made this week to finish out nutrition for the day.

@daffodil2010 – did you make your own magnesium spray, or is it a commercial preparation? I’ve not tried it but am waking up quite early recently & wondering if it might be good to give it a whirl.
@dingping – yes, celebrations are important! With the flexibility of this WOL, today can be a FD
@gnsaway – welcome! I wish you well on your journey!
@scribbleartist – congrats on loose leathers! I have ridden motorcycles for quite a while & I know how those vests usually fit. Good for you!
@songbirdme – how wonderful to be able to go hear your daughter sing in person! Enjoy!
@basyjames – TY for the quote about the journey!
@kaywesterman – a pocket list is a list that anyone can start to rally folks together for support of each other. Frequently it’s for a FD (Fast Day) or some are doing it for a planking challenge, some for B2B2B (Back 2 back fasting) and so on.
@onlyhermes – size doesn’t matter as cornish-jane and someone else mentioned. Everyone’s journey is different. I was one of the larger ones as I joined and have taken off 45 lbs but someone else ,@fatrabbit for example, who started at a similar place sailed right by me and reached her goal. I’m still working at quite a few more pounds. This supportive forum is a very good place to be! You found a great spot.

    2nd post

I am pleased with myself because I managed to have a very healthy light lunch with my friend, so my FD is still on 🙂

@amcmillian we all struggle from time to time, but its important not to give up because we definitely wont make any progress if we do 🙂

@mjrbcd44 I’m having one of those days too, feeling hungry since I woke up. Feel just now that the hunger has passed.

Thank you for sharing that quote with us @basyjames, I specially like the part about mess-ups not defining us.

@fitalora well done on 1.2kg loss in the first week, I wish I could do that 🐢. Keep it up 😀

    Day 12 UK FD

Today has been a real slog. I had my lunchtime apple about 10.30am and then obsessed all day about eating. I’ve drunk about 2 litres of water and I must have had about 8 cups of coffee/tea. I was really busy in work and normally on a day like today I hardly give food a thought.

Still I stuck to it and am ending the day slightly over 500 cals. I’ve stuck to no booze midweek and am planning on not drinking wine tomorrow night, so not arid April but trying to stick to 5:2 for alcohol days.

Like a lot of people I’m just waiting for spring to arrive properly, driving again today in pouring rain was not fun.

For all the new members, welcome everyone. You won’t find a more supportive group of folks out there to help you stick to this WOL.

Happy Thursday everyone. It’s almost the weekend.

    Day 13…NSW Australia…NFD
    8.10 am Friday
    (the 13th – Black Friday)

    Hi everyone

    Enjoying reading all your posts.
Still getting over a head cold so my FD’s are usually CD’s. Hopefully get back into it real soon!

Really pleased that I started 5:2 six months ago and can see and feel results – I spent too many years promising myself that ‘I’d lose weight before my next birthday’ and it never happened. My birthday in June this year will be different!

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    Still Day 12 –

@arelkade – as you enjoy day 13, I’m still on the 12th. Still heading out to teach a 3 hour adult ESL class this evening. I hope you get feeling better soon. I do appreciate your positive attitude day after day. I’m sure it will help you in your 5:2 journey.

    Day 10 Sarasota, Florida NFD
    Day11 CD
    Day 12 NFD

Day 13 – Japan – FD (zero calorie)

Today I’m 82.7 kg and I was under 82 same time yesterday. I’ve even missed my big breakfast between the two weigh-ins. That is just body weight … very fickle. Don’t let the scale drive your choices too much.

    Day 13 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

My FD kind of became at the upper 800 calories limit.
I was preparing food in advance for the impending arrival of my Dad today, and I was nibbling on bits and bobs as I was cooking. Only things like carrots and oat bran bread, oh and some walnuts (oh my, I have recently discovered how addictive they are), but yeah, way over 500.

Slight loss this morning but 2lbs still remain of Easter weight. And with the Main Man (Dad) arriving for the weekend there are chicken pies and roast beef dinners and trifles and apple tarts all ready 😄 But this WOL means I can enjoy this time with my father, and hop back on the wagon Monday

@Dysask I quite agree about the bouncing range. I weighed first thing this morning, went for a 30 min walk, lost half a pound, drank half a litre of water with ACV, gained a pound…..on it goes. It’s the clothes that fit better that gives the real results.

@annemarilyn it’s a commercial magnesium oil sorry that I bought. I was browsing in my local health food store, saw it, remembered @flourbaby talking about it, and decided to give it a go. I will try and make my own sometime soon.

Oh and hey @annemarilyn and @scribbleartist …you are biker chicks too!!! 😄😄😄
I can tell you that I have motorcycle suits hanging in the garage in every size from UK size 10 up to and including size 18. Every summer I can measure my weight by which trousers fit me and unfortunately it was getting into bigger sizes each year. I have not been on out with DH on the bike since last September (weather too yuck) but I hope my cool and snazzy looking BMW red and grey motorcycle suit in size 10 fits this year. Actually, maybe that’s something to try on this weekend 🤓

Have a good Friday all xxx

    Day 13 – UK – Reading – CD

A successful FD yesterday and my weight is now the lowest it has been in about six years. Yeah! With summer just around the corner, this is a good feeling. And a remarkable result considering I only started the 5:2 after Christmas. Almost 10kg gone. @daffodil2010 – your house sounds like a good place to be this weekend – enjoy!

    Day 13, Newcastle UK, ?

Enjoyed a lovely lunch out yesterday with friends. No surprise that weight is up again this morning.

Time to get serious and stop faffing around. It’s another wet and miserable day, so after this morning’s treadmill session, I’m going to draw up a 6 week planner and pin it up in on the larder door.

‘A goal without a plan is just a wish’

    Day 13 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Friday 13th lucky for some, today I weigh in at a new all time low of 133.6 😃 Slow and steady 🐢 but then this isn’t a diet with a finish line but a healthy way of eating for ever.

    Happy Friday everyone!

    2nd post

@ktcaroline “summer just around the corner”! We’re still waiting for Spring in the frozen north lol!!

    Day 13, London, UK, NFD

Aiming to be mindful today after 3 mediocre FDs, but the Easter chocolate Malteaser bunnys & Lindt Lindor mini eggs were going cheap in Tesco yesterday ………………………………………. Just sayin’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@daffodil2010, enjoy a lovely weekend with your dad – memories to be made and savoured!!! My holiday with my mum meant eating outside of this WOL, but she would have felt uncomfortable if I had skipped meals or fasted, so the +5lbs was worth it and it’s all gone now anyway!!!

@annemarilyn I get my magnesium flakes from Amazon and the link below is pretty much the recipe I use except I add MSM, or methlysulfonylmethane for its skin tightening properties – so helpful on THIS journey!! It can be purchased ready-made and is called ‘miracle oil’ but homemade is sooo easy – 2 ingredients and the flakes will last a very long time (if you’re spritzing, but less as a bath soak though) as you’ll only need 10 sprays max/day.

    https://wellnessmama.com/5804/make-your-own-magnesium-oil/

Feeling quite positive at the moment, I’m sending some of this good mojo to those struggling right now……………… I’ve been there (and not just once), and if you just keep going, that pinprick of light ahead WILL get bigger, and Bigger and BIGGER!!!!!

    Day 12 UK NFD

Feeling much better today. Hopefully this cold is on its way out now.

Yesterday’s fast day was a success and I came in at 474 cals. I managed to get all my planned exercise done too however, I really struggled to sleep last night and as a result I am very sleepy today.

But I had my weigh in today and I am down another pound. 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I am pretty chuffed with that!! 😁

    Day 13 – London – FD

Managed a FD without the reward of a fish finger sandwich – yeh!

Thankfully @onlyhermes I did manage to get right back on it. Good luck with your 5:2 journey.

Going for a second FD today so accepting @flourbaby your ‘good mojo’ to get me through and swerve the remains of cake (it’s literally out of sight and on the top of my kitchen cupboard needing step ladders to reach it!!).

@annemarilyn – too true what’s life without the celebrations and the good times.

    Hello @gnsaway and congrats to @fitalora & @missybear.

Wishing everyone a positive and rewarding day.
    Ta x

    Day 13 – Ireland – CD

I am still just scanning posts but hope everyone has a great day. Welcome @onlyhermes – weight is just a number… We are all different shapes and sizes so that number is just that…a number that relates only to you. Good luck as you adapt to this fantastic way of life!

Day 13 Stevensville Maryland USA CNFD

Woke up this morning so excited to step on my scale, only to find it didn’t move. Was hoping for another pound this week. I am at my goal weight but wanted to push for another 5lbs. I really can’t complain I am down 16lbs since mid Jan 2018. This WOL really is working and I will continue thru April, then May comes maintenance.

The best preparation for tomorrow is to be your best today. Happy Friday everyone.

    Day 13……Florida….FD

Yup, I’m trying it again today! I am getting better, one day I’ll hit a solid FD! Work in progress, a work in progress! I figure as long as I’m trying, the battle is slowly being won!
Wow!, there are 83 members in our little family. That’s a great support system, we have all created for ourselves!

Thank you all for your comments on my endings, I’m so glad that you all enjoy them. While yes, I could say something that says you can do it or motivating but I really believe humor can create a active smile all day long. Work those mouth muscles!

It’s that time of morning again, I must be off

Your riding a horse at full speed, a giraffe is next to you and a lion is chasing you…..
    What do you do?
You get your drunk ass off the carousel!

    Day 13, Gozo Malta, nfd

I’m allowing myself a glass or two of red wine Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Today it’s red snapper fish with simple rice salad. I’m taking only a small portion of the rice salad as I must be careful of what I eat during the weekend to make progress. This evening I go out with my sister in law for dinner.

Have a great Friday. The weekend starts today. Onwards and downwards dear folks.

Lucky Friday the 13th North Canton OH FD

I am so glad the week is coming to an end. Getting out of bed this morning was a struggle. I am aiming for a zero calorie fast today. I hope to incorporate at least one a month going forward.
I am also planning to try the magnesium spray sometime soon, thanks for the link @flourbaby.
@daffodil2010 enjoy the time with your dad; life is so precious.
Our new home is really coming together; pictures and paintings are finally up on the wall 🙂
I wish everyone the best weekend and I will see you all on Monday.

Day 13, NFD, Fast Fitness and Fast Strength day. Weight 167lb, BMI 26
Day 12, FD, no exercise but on my feet most of the day
Day 11, NFD, no exercise but on my feet a lot of the time

Finally, finally broken the psychological 12 stone barrier after a good FD yesterday. Exercise routine less than successful, but I have been busy this week with housework and baking cakes with a friend’s 7yo daughter. I hope it counts for something, because I practically have to peel myself off the bed in the mornings! At least I sleep well, thankfully.

@basyjames – I love your quote. Thank you for that.

@onlyhermes – believe me you are not the only one. I have been working hard to maintain the 5:2 WOE and a challenging exercise routine for 5 months now, and am only just approaching ‘ideal BMI’ range. You can see my progress on the spreadsheet, or look at my ‘Fatfingers’ thread. Keep at it, you WILL get there!

@dykask – you are certainly right about the idea that we have a weight range, rather than a fixed weight. That’s why I record my weight here on the tracker on the same day and time of day each week. That doesn’t put me off weighing myself every day though!

    Have a good weekend, everyone.

    Day 13 – UK – NFD

AGGGGHHHH! Had a great fast day yesterday and like @diana123 was so excited to get on the scale and see how big the whoosh had been….. put on 0.4lbs!

On the positive side I know it will happen and also to share that my meal last night was a lovely mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and celery mixed with Buffalo sauce, turmeric and a tablespoon of coconut oil – let stand for about half an hour then baked for about 20 minutes – YUM YUM!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Day 13, NFD, USA

I felt a strange lump on my body last night. Could it be…? Yes!! My hip bones are coming back!! I feel like I am getting to know my body in a whole new way. Can’t wait to meet my collarbone and ribs again…

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Day 13, Amsterdam – CD

OK so my FD yesterday turned into a CD and the same happened today. I didn’t eat breakfast but had a normal sized lunch (what IS that?!) and have therefore been feeling a bit rubbish about myself ever since. Gah.

Oh well. I hope to be able to bring it back with 2 150 cal FDs next week and being healthy tonight so it will in fact be under 1000 calories in total. My boyfriend comes home tonight after a week away for work (and I was in the UK for a week before that, so we haven’t seen each other for 11 days). We were planning to go out for dinner but I will cook at home instead 🙂 Going to make salmon teriyaki with broccoli, so should stay under. The wine is another story though!

Feeling accountable to this group is what is stopping me from going completely off the rails these last 2 weeks! And I fly to Florence next weekend which is UNDOUBTEDLY going to entail red wine and pizza… Argh! Must be better.

In better news, on Wednesday I got back into hot yoga and boy did my body burn yesterday – feels great (my abs are singing!)

Good luck to all fasters today, give me strength for better days next week please!!!

    Day 13 🇺🇸 *Austin, TX – NFD

Really enjoying time with our 2 youngest DD’s here in Texas. Keeping plenty busy. Hope I can catch up with posts sometime.

    Eating very healthily too.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 13 – Atlanta, GA – NFD

Had my annual physcials yesterday and still waiting for the results but my doctor was super impressed with my weight and she asked me how did i do it, First time ever i was not scared to go for annual physicals.

This Forum has been an inspiration for me and i have reduced from 168 pounds to 148 pounds since December though i only started participating in monthly challenges from February. Thank You each one of you

    Day 13, Virginia, USA- CD

Good morning everyone! Hooray for us. It is a wonderful thing to be committed to partnering with our bodies for health instead of fighting them, and antagonizing them, and treating them like annoying adversaries. Reading Dr. Fung’s Diabetes book, I continue to be amazed at how very wise and clever our bodies really are. Miracles, really. I have so much more respect for it now, and for myself.

2 pounds down from my fast day yesterday after having been a half pound up from my CD the day before. That seems to be how it goes, and my tracking line looks like a zigzag, but the trend is downward so that’s what counts. Thank you @cornish-jane, @jaifaim, @fatfingers for your inspiration.

Congratulations everyone, and have a great Friday!

@toddybear – I’m up a 1kg in my fast day. Clothes don’t account for a full kilogram … Weight is fickle, we are mostly water so small changes in hydration can make large changes on the scale. Still I only have 10 hours to go in my fast …

    Day 13 UK CD

Yesterday’s FD morphed into a CD, mostly bc I baked my weekly oat/yog/seed bread a day early bc my mother came to tea & i’m out tomorrow. She ate half a slice bc digestion issues and I ate *ahem* 300g!

Of course, having blown the FD I also ate my last Easter egg (all 35g of yummy dark chocolate) and THEN some instant rice pudding (cooked brown rice, plant milk, cacao, raisins, all spice, spash of honey). But didn’t beat myself up bc I realised it was still a CD under 1200 calories rather than an Actual Blow Out.

First day I’ve weighed & measured this challenge; weight is holding steady at 158 – a 2lb loss since March – plus 0.5″ from my hips & waist. Hoping that’ll do to keep me motivated to try to lose another couple of lbs this month and get below my 2007 weight at last.

@missybear congratulations on your all-time low!
@ktcaroline well done on your 6-year low!
@penz welcome back to those hip bones 😀 I’ve been enjoying putting my hands on my waist and leaning down onto my hips for the first time in a few years; looking forward to having a few ribs appear too
@mishty well done on that medical, what a wonderful result! It’s amazing how anxious we become about things, and how empowering it can be when we take the time to do something, and stick to it. I also started 5:2 in December and have gone from 178 to 158 🙂
Milestones are wonderful things, and sharing them encourages us all to know it’s possible:)
@basyjames loved your quote yesterday – it’s what stopped me feeling my FD had been a failure, and encouraged me to celebrate what I have achieved – thank you 🙂
@flourbaby thanks for the link to magnesium oil recipe – I’d been meaning to make some for ages and that’s a great hook. I can also make some for my mother who loved the epsom salt-based bathstuff I made for her but can no longer manage baths. Hope this might help with her aches & pains and sleep issues too
@daffodil2010 your food prep sounds wonderful. What a lovely gift to be sharing this time with your Dad, hope you have a lovely weekend together

I’ve had an awful headache and burning nerve pain the last 24 hours, usually signs of a virus not yet being fought off by immune system. Today’s been spent in bed thus far, going to get up and do some stretching, meditation and an hour or so of admin/planning for next week. Soup, bath & early night, hoping to bounce back for early morning community meeting.

Every mistake is a learning opportunity

    Day 13 – Massachusetts – NFD

Well of course my plan for a FD failed yesterday because I didn’t have a plan! 🙁 Also my friend from Seattle was in town and of course we celebrated last night… All around definitely not a FD. This weekend is going to be crazy because tonight I have a bachelor party (both genders are invited, which is weird for me, but he is a close guy friend), Saturday I have a bridal shower, and Sunday I have a wedding. This will not be a healthy weekend! But hopefully with this WOL I’ll lose what I gain next week.

Happy Fridays to all! Enjoy your weekend (I hope you will be healthier than me), and keep on keeping on!

    Day 13 NFD Oregon USA

Good FD yesterday ending up around 650 calories.

Weight this morning same as last Friday. It’s been basically the same 3 pounds lost and gained for a few months for me now. Definitely hard not to be discouraged.
    Or rather disappointed with myself.

Off to see my #3 son at college this weekend while #4 tours the same place. 6+ hour drive both ways.😳😧

Take care everyone-have a great weekend.

“Have 🔥 in your soul and grace in your ❤️.”

    Day 13+14+15, Emden Germany, NFD

Day 13, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

Day 13 – SW WA USA – NFD

Will hopefully make a mindful eating day. Still dealing with some Easter/spring break indulgences though a few pounds have been dispatched this week.

@mjrbcd44 – I hear you on the bouncing several pounds. My body’s been doing that for too long. Hang in there! We can do this! Enjoy the college trip – maybe you can find some sun!
@daffodil2010 – enjoy your time with your dad fellow biker chick!
@ktcaroline – hooray for lowest weight in 6 yrs.
@Strawberriesandcream – gray & rainy here too. Love it when there’s a sun break! Will be looking for it. Your planner sounds like you’re putting into practice the quote you posted
@missybear – woohoo on new low! Also thanks for the reminder that this is a WOE forever
@flourbaby – TY for magnesium info
@catch87 – does your job involve a lot of travel? I wish you well as you work to incorporate this WoL.
    @mishty – what wonderful results!

Together we are stronger if we don’t give up!

    Day 13, Cornwall UK, NFD

The scales bounced back this week, and I am up 0.5kg to 80.8kg. But I had a good loss last week and have not been well this week, so I plan to disregard it! I can feel my fingers are puffed up and the medication might have influenced things. But I am starting to feel better, so should be back on track next week. That target of going below 80kg is so close…yet so far.

My little green dragon comes out when I don’t lose weight and others do. How childish is that! I am actually really pleased for you all out there, and I have enough confidence in 5:2 now that I know I’ll be joining you soon.

@arelkade, @sarahbob and @michelinme – hope you get better soon too!

@mjrbcd44 – best wishes in getting off your plateau.

    Day 13 – USA – FD

@bert1802, I agree: humor is the equalizer in life all over the world! @mjrbcd44, I also am playing with the 3 lb. weight range over the past month or so, but in my case, it’s because I’m only 10 lbs. away from goal and have been doing successful FDs and then rewarding myself by going against my 5 dry days/week commitment. Need to work on that. @penz, if you see any firm abdominals, will you let me know? I can’t find mine…it’s all still mush. @gnsaway, welcome! @basyjames, how exciting to finally have your home the way you want it! Enjoy! @flourbaby, your post was very uplifting, thank you! @Sarabob and @diana123, congrats on your successes! @mishty, great job! @missybear, yay for your new low! @toddybear, thanks for that recipe; I think I’ll try it on my next FD. @michelinme, you are going to have to think up a new name soon!

    Day 13 UK NFD

Scales today showed a loss so far this month of 2Kg!! Yeah! Having NFD today but decided to take oats to work and mix with water. Only 110 calories…then controlled dinner of veg and home made bolognese sauce and , small ,125 ml glass white wine. . So far so good.
