  • Hello,

Can anyone tell me if you can boost your weight loss by adding more fasting days?

I lost two stone initially following the 5:2 Principle which I was really happy with however after a two week holiday I have put on nearly a stone which has left me looking bloated. Can I fast-track my loss using this method?

    Thanks

    2 sides of the coin:
    1. more fasting days = bigger caloric deficit on a weekly basis
    2. more fasting days = more stress to the body (stress = cortisol = hunger). Bigger (weekly) caloric deficit = stronger hunger in general, harder fast days, risk of overeating / binge eating in your non-fast days. And you could lose the caloric advantage of more fasting days.

So you have to test it for yourself.

Wow, you basically gained one pound per day over a two week period. How much were you eating? Perhaps a better alternative would be to realise that you need to develop a pattern of eating that is sustainable for ever more rather than looking for a very quick solution? A pattern of eating that doesn’t change regardless of whether youre on holidays or not. Good luck with whatever pattern you come up with.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for your response.

I was very naughty, met with friends for lunch and drinks everyday (My weakness is Pizza and Wine = very bad for you) – plus didn’t go to the gym as I normally would.

I am always very careful so have no worries about eating habits, thought I’d let it go for my two weeks off as been working hard – however starting to regret that decision….

Wanted to give the first week back on plan a boost, thought adding another fasting day could help. I have no issues with hunger on fasting days. (As i schedule them at work so barely notice)

On fasting days I have an egg white omelette with veg for breakfast and grilled chicken and veg for dinner…. and I never binge on non-fasting days. (Thankfully I am fussy and pretty much eat the same on non-fast days as fasting days except I would have a salad for lunch with a Greek yoghurt and fruit)

I never eat any packet food except for the yoghurt as a rule and due to allergies avoid bread and pasta.

Guess my next Holiday at Christmas I will have to ensure I stick to the gym also to avoid this bloat.

    Hi unicorn:

You might check this out – you really can’t put on a pound of fat a day for two weeks: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/easy-on-easy-off/

    Good Luck!
