  • I am new to the forum and have been following the 5/2 since 20th May after a couple of friends suggested I try it!! I bought and read Michael’s book from cover to cover and haven’t looked back.Although not hugely overweight I have been unhappy with my weight for quite a while and as I’ve got older I’ve found I just haven’t had the willpower to stick to a weight loss regime..I am 64 and when I started weighed 11st (my heaviest ever!)for my 5ft 4.5″ height. Was concerned about the fat around my middle and my increasing size etc.weight had been creeping up pound by pound over the years- I even tried to ignore it!!Really pleased to say that in the 12weeks since I’ve been following it I have lost 15lbs to date and am at my lightest for years. Want to lose another few lbs…I fast or as I call it lo-cal on Monday and Thursday..I eat breakfast around 8am which usually consists of a small handful of strawberries and or blueberries followed by a small piece of toast with a scrambled egg and cups of tea. From the start I decided I’d allow myself tea and coffees during the day with just a very small amount of milk.I eat again at supper time around 6.30 and usually have a huge salad with prawns or a vege curry with pickle and either strawberries/blueberries or a nectarine. This after a bit of trial works for me. Some days I do struggle a bit but mainly if my husband is at home and I prepare a meal for him..I’ve found a way to lose weight and sustain it and although I haven’t lost more than 2″ from my waist and don’t appear to have the extra energy some people seem to benefit from, I am really pleased with myself so thankyou Michael & Mimi its just what I needed! Oh and I haven’t increased the amount of exercise I do, which is usually moderate walking a couple of times a week.

Hi pamplemoos, that’s great and welcome. I loved the book too, and will do 2 days a week eternally now. It’s great for maintaining my weight and giving my body a rest and it really is second nature to me as now I never struggle on fasting days. It gets easier, good luck

Thanks gemm, I agree with your comments looking forward to being able to just do a one day mainenance fast to see if I can stay at my lower weight…thats a little way off yet…at the mo I seem to be stuck and unable to take more off but will carry on the two days, make sure I don’t overeat on the 5 days and hope things improve…so far it has been a steady weight loss.
