Thank you for your medal, you take good care of everyone.

Day 4 Minnesota, US NFD Staying under TDEE. HIIT walk today, despite the humidity. Thank you for the medal, Coda! It’s a fun way to keep us motivated. Anaide, I hope you recover from your injuries quickly and soon are more comfortable. Good luck and stay strong, everybody!

    Australia – Day 5

Coda – Thank you for the special medal ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel very special having one all to myself which I am sure was the intention ๐Ÿ˜œ On another note, I applaud you for being able to keep track of everyone. It’s a tough job being the boss ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

Slimnhealthy – I thought Coda had disqualified me from all the chocolate bars I had to eat to get the golden ticket ๐Ÿซ lol!

A fasting day today. Feeling very constipated, so going to do a colon detox. Be on the toilet all day hopefully. (Sorry for the TMI) Hope everyone’s day is better than mine!! lol.

ETJ – I also have problems with constipation, but others have suggested the “apple a day” approach, and it really has helped me! I will sometimes have the apple even on my FD’s in the early afternoon then have my main 400-450 calories around 6 p.m. Most apples are around 80 calories. I have enjoyed a new variety in my grocery called “Envy” which is in the Braeburn family. It has just the right amount of sweetness and crunch for me.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Envy_(apple)

US SE Day 4 NFD. Thanks for the medal Coda. I’m starting a collection now adding it to my first one ๐Ÿ˜Š

    US Day 4- NFD

Thank you for the medal Coda! I’m going to say my goal for this challenge will be 3 lbs. lost. I would go for 4, but my birthday is next week and I will have cake! Right now a pound a week loss is amazing and a pound more than I was losing before the 5:2 and I am happy with it!

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 5: Thank you for my medal, Coda. It’s a lovely thought.
I’m usually trying to do 4:3, Rocky65, but in order to follow through with the buddy system, will do Monday and Thursday and weigh Friday morning. If it doesn’t seem enough, I may squeeze in a Saturday. When I started, FDs were easy but at present they are much harder. I’m trying to eat low carb high fat but struggling with portion size. Again, this was much easier 3 months ago. I went to a book club meeting this morning and refrained from the freshly baked muffins and apple tea cake. So I had 16 hours between dinner last night and lunch today. Broke my fast with some double Brie and bacon. Need some salad! I have an issue with planning. Feeling positive though about this 3 weeks. How are you coping?

So sorry. Just realised. I’ve been putting a k in your name, Rocy65. I went back and looked at your profile and it hit me.

Songbirdme – I will keep my eye out for the Envy apples – although we don’t get much choice in Oz. My preferred apple is a pink lady. I was right with constipation taking my Normacol – but then I ran out and haven’t been to the chemist for the past few weeks. I really need on eating days to eat the apple a day and maybe some prunes. I’m considering to see how my weight loss goes over a couple of weeks introducing an apple a day on my fast days. At present every other day I consume nothing but liquids, which is why I have to take the Normacol. I brought a big box today though and will see if I can get back regular.

California, USA Day 4. NFD today. Gave in to some scones with lemon curd that my friend made and brought to work today. My appetite returned today after several days of nausea, so I am sure I ate over my TDEE today.
Coda: Thank you so much for my medal! Thank you for your leadership and support.
Anaide: So sorry to read about your accident, I hope you are feeling better soon.
Wishing strength to everyone as we continue our journey. Good night.

    Croatia, Day 5, FD
    Weight: 79.3 Kg

Italy Day 5 bonus – NFD
Sorry i got all confused with the days Numbers, hope i’m right now.
Thanks for the medal coda, feels like a real achievement.
Anaide your accident sounds really nasty, hope you get better soon.
Nailed my Fast Day yesterday, felt great. So got to get my head round a healthy NFD, keeping under my TDEE. This for me is the most difficult part, we’ll see how it goes.

    Bonus day 5 uk
NFD today I had bread and cheese last night and am still full! OH has made a curry (always high cal!) for tonight so I’m planning to only eat when I get hungry so I will enjoy the curry later.

Hi Fuvvie,Well done for resisting the bread and tea cake!
Maybe I’ll also try an extra fd as well!!
I did find it all much easier when I first started on May 1st! Although July was not good being the same weight at the end was good. (Though didn’t feel I deserved a medal as I didn’t lose!).
I feel that I’m back in a good positive place, not planning has also been my downfall. So that is a target.
I understand that HFLC is what we should be doing but I’m a bit concerned because I have such high cholesterol! I have LF ingrained in my head! I’m going to get my 3mths test done and see what it is, then do a strict HFLC for 3mnths and test again! I think thats the only way I’ll know for sure.
(If any one else has done this please advise!)

Looking foward to comparing weight loss on Fri, good luck Fuvvie!

ETJ well done on your special medal !!

I creeked my neck a few days ago, it really is annoyingly painful so haven’t done any Hit. Had enough so going to head to chiropractor asap! I can’t run since I twisted my ankle last month. I could do with a new body!!

    Good luck all!

    Day 5 Sussex, U.K.
NFD. For me. Meeting a friend for coffee and catch up.
Have a good day everyone. xx

Rocy65, This is getting spooky๐Ÿ˜ฑ I too have a wry neck and couldn’t drive because of it. My daughter cooked a red beef curry for dinner. It was absolutely delicious. I just read out the post to her and she said “My goodness. That is absolutely amazing”. We are on the same page in synch with each other๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜€
HollyLJ, it is so easy to get confused with the days. Usually I sign in around 7am and it’s still the previous day UK and quite different in USA. It does my head in sometimes trying to work out the number of the day counting up.
Anaide, I hope you make a sound recovery. It sounds like a nasty accident.

Surrey UK Day 5…I am now still in Stourbridge in the West Midlands and will be for the next three weeks. Absolutely necessary for me to stay in touch with all you lovely people. Coda, may I add my voice of thanks with the others for the medal….
I must go now, sorry! Completely snowed under here with commitments…haven’t weighed in a number of days, or had a fast day, but definitely watching what I am eating.

UK day 5. Second FD of the week for me , yesterday’s NFD went well, but mid week is usually quite good for me it’s the weekends when I relax a little too much, as this is such a short challenge going to aim for the same level throughout I’m going to pre plan my meals and keep drinks to a minimum

Hi all Wednesday 3 August day 5 (date + 2 = day we are on) and off course just as you are all getting to grips with this on Monday 8 August it will become day 14 ha ha. I said I would keep you on your toes. If you haven’t already mark it into a calendar then you have no excuses.

Rocy65 – you received a medal because you saw the challenge through to the end – others fell by the wayside. So you did deserve it -stick it up with pride!

So Anna6 and Coda are in the 5lb group

Rocy65 and Fuvvie have buddied up – I have a note of 2.8 kg which is about 6lbs is that correct?

Asweet0862 has set 3 lbs anyone joining her in that group?

Any other buddies out there – anyone going for 2 or 4 lbs? Make a commitment to someone other than yourself and see what you can achieve! If you don’t make your goal don’t worry there is no shame here – just as long as you give it a go! Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful!

Anna6 – my buddy ๐Ÿ™‚ – I fast Monday and Friday and have found on Wednesday I only eat either a late breakfast and evening meal or lunch and evening meal. I had to prepare myself mentally for my extended fast – reading some of the others who did this I thought if they can so can I. I planned a nice lunch on Thursday (feta cheese salad with lots of baby leaves, tomatoes, peppers, sugar snap peas and some pumpkin seeds with an olive oil, lemon juice and cider vinegar dressing. I had a stock of water and lemon slices and prepared a bone broth. Had the stock which I added some carrots, celery, parsley, leeks and cooked until vegetable were soft. I then strained the soup and added lots of pepper and rock salt. I had that for my dinner on Thursday and Friday and knowing Ciren2 was also doing it I gritted my teeth when I had my Winnie the Pooh numbly tum moments and carried on – visualising my success. I ended my fast on Saturday about 9 am but to be honest I wasn’t as hungry as I had thought I would be. I don’t think it is something I will do every week maybe once a month but for the 2 weeks bonus part I will plan for this Thursday 4th and the following Thursday 11th August.

When you decide not to surrender, that is strength – so be strong tomorrow is another day!!!

    PS

Rocy65 – just make sure fats are healthy fats.

Another couple of inspiring thoughts for you all to read as we approach the bonus part of phase 2.

Don’t count the days – make the days count!

Some people what it to happen, some wish it could happen, others make it happen!

    Our health is our responsibility.

Mind set is everything – so let us make the last few weeks count. Let us have a cheer from around the world – WE CAN DO THIS – have you been going to bed visualising your success? Do you think of attaining your goal as you brush your teeth? Get dreaming now as every step toward your dream today is a step away from your regret tomorrow.

Day 5, Cotswolds, UK: Fast day. Just back from my deliveries….drinking lots of water. Last ate at about 5.30pm yesterday. Next meal; breakfast tomorrow….I can do it….

    Ontario Day 5
Non fast day but a 16 8 day
Yesterdays fast went well until early evening, water all day and had first tomato from our garden on low carb toast plus a bowl of homemade soup (bone broth).
But I was starving later and ate melba toast and gouda cheese…so went over calorie alottment for sure but not surprised as just getting off long weekend and did enjoy a few excellent restaurant meals in Toronto. So eating low carb today, and this will suppress my appetite more setting myself up for hopefully successful fast tomorrow.
Did my early morning walk and ready for the day
    Enjoy

US, Day 5…FD. Hard boiled egg and coconut oil coffee.

Went out to a new neighborhood restaurant last night. We shared the most delicious salad of watercress, watermelon radish, pepitos and avocado. I had roasted eggplant with lentils and goatcheese. Took home half for tonight.

    Day 5, Quรฉbec

Hi Coda. I’m in for the 2 lbs group.

I want to fast today. So far so good. Drinking herbal tea.

    Bonne journรฉe x

Reporting Day 4: Pacific NW USA, liquid only FD

Reporting was tough yesterday as I woke with a huge headache, didn’t want to do any screen time and didn’t know if I would or could fast as it was second grandson’s “choice day” and he had quite an itinerary planned. I did make it through the day with only tea and water and electrolytes packet (the thought of coffee totally set me off) and miso soup for dinner. Walked the dogs with grandson and even got in a couple of HI hills. Felt better by bedtime and have woken with such a good feeling (36 hours fast) that I think I will see how much longer my body doesn’t feel like it needs to eat. I may wind up with a 48 hour liquid fast, or not. Now it’s up to listening to my body..

If I do fast until dinner today I think that means I will have a 4:3 week with my normal FD again on Friday. Coda, I’m working towards the goal of losing 5 lbs in 2 weeks from July 30 to Aug 13 (attending step son’s wedding). This is a big leap but I go along with what you said – set a big goal and even if I don’t quite make it I will probably have gotten further than if I had not set such a big challenge!

And you know, this could be a major self improvement in my mental attitude – I was so depressed in April I would not have dared to project out two weeks for fear of failure, I was just trying to put one foot in front of the other. 5:2 concepts have already been such a success for me combined with eating high nutrient “LC and not afraid of fat”, HIT and strength exercising and this daily get-together with my pals in our cyber cafe I think I can now feel confident that I will continue to have success!

    Day 5 – USA – NFD

Today was supposed to be a fast day, but I’m still not feeling great. My sore throat is worse and I’m tired. No other symptoms yet. I got some Zicam and I’m hoping that will help keep it away! I skipped my run this morning and slept an extra hour instead. Decided to have a NFD today. I’m not sure if I’ll try and make it up or only have one this week.

I’d be happy to make a goal of 3 lbs and buddy up with Asweet0862. I see we are at similar weights and are both in the US. Let’s do this!

Those that eat Miso soup: do you make it or buy it pre-made? I’ve only had it at a restaurant, but would love to have it at home. I have no idea how to make it.

California, USA, Day 5. I am feeling so much better today. Today was to be a NFD but I am switching to a FD. I am going to try liquids only for 36 hours now that the nausea has left. The scales show .5 lb wt loss but I really over ate yesterday. I am hoping a FD will make up for yesterday. I thought I may have had a gallbladder problem, but after throughly testing it yesterday by eating (bad) fat, I am happy to report that I am feeling good today. I took care of 2 patients yesterday with the same symptoms, so something is going around.
I will join in with Quebecoise for the 2 lb weight loss group. We are both fasting today. A 2 lb wt loss will get me into the 160’s range which is my goal for this challenge.

I am off work today but have to complete some continuing education requirements, so I am hoping to keep as active as possible in between the reading I have to do. Thanks to everyone for the posts. It really helps to keep me motivated. Wishing everyone a great day.

lisahawk, I have bought packets of instant for the office. At home, I sometimes make fresh with miso paste, seaweed and tofu.

Thanks to everyone who wrote me wishing improvements! I read all the posts!

It’s so good to know we have friends in many parts of the planet!

I am still in great pain, but I must improve soon.

I was with a lot of energy and health, doing many physical activities.

Now I am unable and still have to take remedies.

Next week I go back again to the fast.

    Hugs to all

    Gozo, Malta

Coda I don’t think I’m up to liquids only for 36 hours. I admire you and who does it. I’m fasting today. I had salad leaves with grape tomatoes and balsamic vinegar and 200g cottage cheese for lunch. Plenty of fizzy water with lemon juice and one black coffee and for dinner I’m having fish filled with tomatoes and capers baked with lemon juice with salad leaves nfd tomatoes. Sometimes I have chicken with veg for lunch or salad with smoked salmon for dinner on fast days. I found that if I don’t have breakfast it gets to be an easier fast day for me.

Back2 the future so you’re joining Coda and myself on the 5lb challenge? Welcome and we can do it.

I mean to weigh myself on Monday instead of Friday as I did for the previous July challenge.

Meanwhile I’ve been kept busy this morning by my nine month old grandaughter and sometimes helping my daughter and her son Alexander who are staying with us just now.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

Hi everyone! The last 2 days have been full of ups and downs.

Lost a very dear aunt (my mother’s sister) yesterday. Feel really sorry for her kids aged 20 & 22. They lost their father to cancer 7 years back and now their mother is gone too :(. It seems so unfair, but then what can one do in front of God’s will.

Came back home today (after the funeral), and did a pregnancy test – and I am expecting! Fasting sure is a miracle. I have PCOS and it took me more than 3 years to conceive my first child, and now been fasting for just a month and I conceived! Both stories not sinking in yet. Sad and happy both.

So I will not be posting anymore, since not on 5:2 now. Would definitely get back to this WOE later on. Just keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well (have had 1 miscarriage before first child).

Goodbye everyone! You all have been a great support!! You all ROCK!

Oh congratulations minimee. Please drop in every now and then and let us know how you are getting on. I hope all goes well and condolences on the loss of your aunt.

Anna6 don’t worry at all at this stage about an extended fast one day you will feel ready.

Ok so i have Quebecoise and Cizzy2 for 2 lbs

Asweet and lisahawk for 3 lbs

    Coda Anna6 and b2tf for 5 lb

And Rocy65 and Fuvvie for 6 lbs.

Anyone else for a bit of fun and healthy competitiveness?

MiniMee, what power evidence that fasting impacts our hormones. PCOS is a tough one to beat. Congratulations to you! ..and also my condolences.

Austin Tx- day 5 bonus ?

Im still recovering from trip so losing days.

I ate really healthy yesterday but maybe too much.

Fasting today. So hard with kids home in summer n feeding them all day.

Regarding hormones. I was sure i was around the menopause corner, but since i began fasting, my periods are more regular than before all peri-menopause symptoms! I know overfeeding is one of the main endocrin disruptors.

Day 5, Los Angeles. An aide and MiniMee, I’m sending good thoughts to you. My NFD today is going well so far. Nothing much to report. I’m hoping to be in the 5 lb club, but more likely it will be less. For unknown reasons, I feel myself being very tempted this week to indulge in more of the foods that I know I should, and usually do, avoid โ€“ carbs sweets savories (thatโ€™s just about everything!). I am staying strong, but just barely. So Iโ€™m sending out strength and determination to myself and anyone else here who may be needing them today. Letโ€™s do our best!

Hi Micky42 do you want to start a 4lb group or join a few in the 5lb group?

    Gozo, Malta

Minimee condolences and congratulations dear. May you have a healthy baby.

Micky42 stay strong as you’re doing and the cravings will pass.

Thanks Coda. Today I had the meals as planned although I added some red peppers to the salad. I’m tired with all the babysitting but happy as I ate what I planned. The only thing is I’m not exercising and I’ll try the stairs tomorrow as I used the car for the village square to attend mass today.

    Good night everyone.

US SE Day 3 NFD… Hi Coda, I’ll try for 4lbs. Fingers and toes crossed!

Australia Day 6 FD. HUGE congratulations MiniMee, wha great news re the baby. I am sorry about your Aunt though. Xxx

    Day 5 USA (Illinois)

    Checking in – NFD today.

I have found I don’t sleep very well on nights of FD’s. Does that (going to bed with no food in your tummy) effect anyone else? So today, I had a nice egg and sausage breakfast, light lunch, afternoon cheese popcorn, and I’m still considering if I will eat any supper.

Coda – is the goal you are tabulating one for the whole challenge or just for this interim time? If it is the whole down to August 22, then put me down for 4 pounds please. I will be visiting my brother in California at the end of this challenge time, but I will try to post each day. Hope I can stay on track to keep losing!

MiniMee – so happy for you and the new baby, but sorry you have lost your aunt. I am sure your cousins will take comfort from you.

Day 5: Pacific NW USA, b2b liquid FD, going for 48 hours with 1Tbs. of cream in my ice coffee today, white tea and water till dinner.

Coda – I’m all about the rewards, thanks for the medal that goes along with the weight loss and return to health that you inspired!

Brighton – my boys tower over me and both married gals your height, but along with my size 0 daughter (didn’t even know there was such a size until she went down to 0 after her 3rd child) I’ve been the one to take up most of the room on our annual Christmas photo cards – but not this year!!

Anaide – healing thoughts sending your way, you will get over this bump in the road, that is bus in the road.

LS – your blood test results are a testament to 5:2 being about health! I’m so happy for your positive results! And that was an interesting profile of the lady in the article you posted.

LisaHawk – I buy dry miso packets that you add to hot water. They are so convenient for travel! I do read the ingredients carefully to find the “cleanest brand”. Do you have a recipe you could share K-lo??

MiniMee – sympathy and congrats, take care!

5 pounders – let’s do this, visualize 5, one pound packages of butter smeared all over your body (I know!), now visualize washing them away with your daily shower till they are all down the drain (Yes)!!

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 6: MiniMee, Your name lives up to your expectations. Congratulations and I wish you health and great joy. Condolences re your loss of a dear aunt. Such sadness for your cousins.
Coda, what a wonderful post full of very inspiring maxims. I’ll have to cut and paste them to keep them in my mind. My mind is like a leaky sieve of late.
Rocy65, I’m really feeling positive, fasting today, sitting with heat pack on neck. Hope your neck is improving. I’m going out for a walk shortly. Just a gentle stroll. It’s very windy and sunny for the most part. You are probably asleep as I write this or are you a night owl? I imagine you have summer time now, so that probably makes it midnight in UK.
B2TF, I love the thought of sitting in a cyber cafe with such an inspiring group of like minded people. I’m feeling really happy.

    Australia – Day 6

Hello. Well my bowel evacuation yesterday went well ๐Ÿ™‚ I was well and truly backed up. The good news is I weighed myself this morning and I am 1.3 kilo’s down! So down to 73.3kg. I won’t have that as an actual weight until I officially weigh in on Saturday, as I don’t weigh in after eating days. Today I am planning on doing school with the boys and then saddling up the pony for my kids to ride around on. They have art this afternoon and I am going in for a laser sauna. I had one last week as well. Apparently it is good for detox.

Back2thefuture – Eww! I love the concept, but don’t want to visualise myself that way, haha. I do visualise every week the kilo down on the scales. How exciting about your sons wedding. It seems like a great incentive to lose weight. I am sure you will look amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

Songbirdme – I haven’t slept better. I was going to bed and would take ages to fall asleep and then would wake up a lot and not be able to go back to sleep. These days I go to bed and am out of it. Sorry!

Slimnhealthy – It is interesting that you say that. I have PCOS and my cycles have never been regular. Since starting this though, they are the most regular they have ever been!

Minimee – I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself.

Day 5 Minnesota, US 9:30 pm FD, under 360 cals. Completed bodyweight exercises and achieved my Fitbit goals. A hilly walk for 40 minutes, also, but no HIIT because of heat and humidity.

I’ll join the 3 lb challenge with Asweet and Lisahawk!

Glad everything “worked out” for you ETJ. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Minimee, condolences on the loss of your Aunt, and congratulations on your pregnancy. Stay with only healthy carbs, not refined, and good protein and healthy fats to keep a handle on the insulin, hormones, and PCOS problems. Best of luck to you and babe!

SongbirdMe, I also have difficulty sleeping, especially on the nights of fast days. Alas, I think it could be age. I’ve heard many post-menopausal women complain about it. I do sometimes save some of my FD calories so that I can have a little full-fat, Greek Style (no sugar) yogurt with a few blueberries, or some other kind of berries, to eat at about 7-8 pm. I feel like it helps me sleep. I generally eat supper earlier on other days; and I don’t always do this. I go with how my sleep patterns of the previous couple nights has been. If I’ve had trouble falling and staying asleep then I assume it will be worse after a FD, so then I have my late yogurt. My next meal is after noon, next day, as usual.
I have also used 100% real maple syrup (just a little) instead of berries. That’s naughty, I know, but I love it!

Stay strong Micky42! You will be so glad you did.

    Good luck everyone.

    Croatia, Day 6, NFD
    Weight: 79.5 Kg

    US Day 5- NFD

Good day today, might have gone over a little but not much.

    Italy Day 6 – FD

Coda – i’ll aim high and get together with Rocy65 and Fuvvie in the 6lb group please

Minime e – Congratulations on your pregnancy and condolences for your loss.

Day 5: Pacific NW USA (traveling), liquid only 48 hour fast today ended with Morrocan style Shakshuka and one egg. Even the grandkids liked it although they had other side dishes that I passed up. Today followed a pattern I’ve experienced before where the 2nd in back-to-back FD’s was easier than the 1st of the two. I had energy all day and nary a murmur or complaint. I ate light on purpose to break the fast as I think my body needs to rev up slowly.

ETJ – thanks for your thoughts that I won’t look like I’ve been poured into my dress! This next 5 lbs of stored fat – I see them melting away! Better yet I’m visualizing that I will feel good and have fun at the wedding! The festivities start in a week, the wedding in a week and a half. BTW, that’s when I see OH too! My kids appreciate Mom flying in for some grandbaby time but OH and I will be headed to a hotel this time next week.

NFD tomorrow for me. Good night or good day or good morning all!

So glad you are with us, HollyLJ๐Ÿค— It seems high but I have confidence we can do this. Hope the scales don’t let me down tomorrow. I meant to go for that walk this morning but managed to book a massage instead. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, they say. The massage hurt like crazy but the neck feels better for it this afternoon. Sitting with a hot pack now.

    Hi Coda
So sorry, but I’ve completely lost track. The last few days of my holiday I had no internet as my phone finally gave up the ghost and there are no re-charging points in a tent!
Can I jump back on as I really need to get back under control? Work is manic now I’m back, and until school re-starts the juggling of life is going to be stressful – I need a daily point that reminds me of what I’m also trying to achieve behind the scenes.
My weight today is 11st 10 – and I can’t remember what I was at the start of the 4 week challenge, but if I’ve got away with no weight gain then that’s a positive given how much it’s been going u and down over the various holiday activities!
Will hopefully have time later today to catch up with some of the posts.
    Mx
