  • For years I have looked at my summer vacation pictures and sworn there would not be any like that next summer. I think this must finally be the year that it is true. I would like 15 kilo’s less, but 10 kilo’s would make me happy too. I did 5:2 last year for a couple of weeks and lost four kilo’s. This time I want to stick with it until I reach my goal and then maintain. Support is very welcome as well as similar goal seekers.
My first fast day starts tomorrow ( I had a couple of practice runs last week and feel ready!). Anyone joining me?

    Hello JohannaW,

I’ll join you! I’ve got the same loss goal and am working to about the same timescale as you. I’m aiming for 10kg (at least) by early August; I fly off on my hols on 4/8.

I totally related to your feelings of ‘no more holiday photos I’m ashamed of!’ Or that I can’t bear to show anyone. I’m as determined as you to do this. Fancy a 5:2 buddy to help each other reach our goal?

    Hello MsMoneyPolly,
Wonderful that you are going to look much better on this year’s vacation pictures too! Tomorrow is my second fast day – will be as good as the first one. All I need to do is plan, plan and plan a bit more. I must avoid temptation and keep my not-so-nice-last-year’s-vacation-picture close. Very good reminder of why I make good choices on my fast day.
    What is your strategy?
    Johanna

    Hi Johanna,

Apols for delayed reply. I’ve not been checking on this thread as I should.

How’s it going for you? My progress so far is a loss of 3kg since starting on 1st March. So Im very pleased and feel encouraged and motivated by this great start. My strategy? After some difficulty with getting through a day on 500cals at the start, I’ve found that for me it’s all about a filling and satisfying breakfast – organic jumbo oats porridge with berries or Greek yoghurt with berries – then I have an apple at midday and loads of water, green tea and Bovril (beef tea) to keep me going till teatime when i might have skinny soup (100 cals) with a Ryvita. I also try to eat cleanly and sensibly on my non-FDs.
I find that the FDs make you think twice about that bar of choc, glass of wine, piece of cheese. It’s true what they say in the FD book about educating yourself re your awareness of hunger and re-learning your own response to hunger. Being okay with being hungry for a little while. Also asking myself why I’m reaching for food. Am I really hungry or just bored, angry, doing it out of habit. So, just being better at listening to my body and reading my moods. So I’d say being mindful is a big part of my strategy.
    What’s yours?
