  • US SC Day 20 NFD. Finished up FD yesterday but had to occupy myself late in the day. The evening is such a hard time for me. Always was the time when I raided the cupboard. Had a nice lunch today .. not too bad calorie wise. I fell apart when I got home and found a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. Oh well… tomorrow is another day.

    Day 20 Minnesota, USA FD
Not best FD but ok. Less than 600.
Haven’t had time to read posts. Best to everyone!! Stay positive about your futures!! You can and you will be in control in January. For now, you are enjoying your time with family and friends. I am trying to stay “good” and strong whenever I can. Actually, did a fairly good FD considering people who came by the house, etc.
When I am mindful, I do better. But also, when I tell myself I can eat “It” now or later, I do choose later. And sometimes I do eat it next day and sometimes I don’t. Good luck to everyone!

Day 21 New Zealand – NFD
Sorry B2TF, very hectic at work & home and still haven’t done my Christmas shopping! Haven’t managed a fast day for over a week, customers keep on bringing in treats. I haven’t given up, I like the feeling after a successful fast, but can’t see me being able to do much over the holidays. I have decided that I am going to do a 15.5 km fun run in March, so have started running (very slowly), so plan to continue with my new WOL. Merry Christmas to all. Thank you for your inspiration and helpful advise. xoxo

    Day 20|NFD|Toronto
Another meal out and gathering tonight; restraint exercised as best I could but reality of holiday, and dark days, weight gain is evident.

    Day 21 | Derbyshire UK | NFD

I can’t see my post for day 20 (NFD) probably forgot to press submit…doh!

Had a fabulous night’s sleep. First time I’ve had more than 4 hours for days. Feeling ready to take on my busy busy day! We have a leaking pipe which is dripping through into our hall way! The plumber is due to arrive st 8am so I really hope he can sort it. Both sons are now here and we have revived an old family tradition of going to the cinema when we come home for Christmas. My brothers and I always went to see James Bond when we were younger but this time my boys and I are going to see fantastical beasts and where to find them. I am so excited, I feel like a little girl again!

Good luck with everyone who is trying to fast or stay within TDEE we can do this, collective high fives and hugs xx

    Day 21 UK NFD

Family staying, a two week holiday with OH and me hosting, lots of cooking and all lovely but feeling slightly like a marathon so apologie if I am slightly awol. Yesterday was a disaster with no sense of tdee. Worse day by some distance before starting this WOL back in early September.

I really can’t do that every day for the next fortnight and need to claw back control. It feels very difficult at the moment. Determined to enjoy family time but without wrecking everything I have achieved. Sad to say it but there is a little bit of me looking forward to January. Hoping that little bit isn’t much bigger by then….

Good luck to all with the challenges of this happy season.

    Day 20 AuSA HI NFD
I did fast from 6:30pm last night to 2:30 this afternoon – I believe that made 20 hours. Not sure but probably went over 500 calories during next 4 hours. So I’m calling it NFD but certainly a fairly low calorie 24 hour period.

    Day 21|Pune India | FD

Day 20: Pacific NW USA, NFD. Longest stretch of NFD’s I’ve had since starting in May. This has been the first of 3 family Christmas get-togethers for us that revolves around food and fun. We are back to some semblance of normal tomorrow I will be able to fast tomorrow and Thursday before the second family group comes together for a week starting Sunday.

This thread will continue until the 31st for anyone who wants to check in through the end of December. Is anyone up for starting us off on a new year and a new thread in January? I think there’s a crowd of us that will want to continue.

    Day 21 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

I’m out for another Christmas meal today but I intend to just have that all day. Stepped on the scales this morning and I’ve put back my loss and more. I really need to step onto the scales on a daily basis but I’m not home everyday. I think I will have to take my scales with me when I stay over with my partner.

@northerndawn I will start telling myself I can eat it now or later.

@back2thefuture so glad that we are continuing until the 31st. Thank you so much for being our leader for 2 months.

    Stay strong everyone! xoxo

    Second post

Given the demands of the season, I think I will bow out now for December. Thank you all for your company and support over the last couple of months. I will look forward to catching up with your posts in early January for a renewed start. Take care everyone, enjoy your celebrations and look forward to 2017 xx

Day 21 Surrey UK NFD Just to say, I hope everyone has a peaceful and joyous festive season, especially since we are all so much stronger and can look to a January that will be a renewal of purpose for many of us. Isn’t it wonderful that we can still be mindful even though this time of the year it is so easy to go over the top.
I am leaving today for St Albans and won’t be back till the 10th January. Will definitely check in as often as is possible, but it may well be intermittent.
    Stay strong, all and everyone!

Day 21 UK NFD Just too much going on right now that I’m not in the right frame of mind to contemplate a FD but I am being mindful and making some good choices .ill continue to contribute for a couple of days then taking a holiday

Back2theFuture Thank you for being our host for the last few months, you deserve a break x

Hope to see many of you in the New Year xxx

Hello everyone UK day 21 (not sure what day it will be) not sleeping well at the moment so am very tired. I know I said I would weigh every day and I did this morning but not putting it in writing lol as it has taken a jump up. Could it be the weekend catching up now?

Sarah57 feel free to pop in every now and then just to say hello.

Ciren are you still on course to lead us into 2017?

Songbird – you are welcome on this thread as long as you want. There is no reason why maintainers have to leave us other than if they wish to. It’s nice to have those who have achieved their goal to inspire those still on the journey.
    Take care x

    Day 21, London, FD

Everyone is busy, but checking in only takes a few minutes. I find it useful.

I will be in France over the hols, but I’ll try to log in now and again. I will not be avoiding the scales either, as I don’t want to start January with a shock ;-).

@back2thefuture – thank you so much for being such a wonderful host for the past few months, your effort is much appreciated.

If anyone is starting a January challenge, I will carry on posting, too.

Day 21 Sunshine Coast Qld Australia: NFD: Last lot of carol singing today. Indulged in a G&T this afternoon followed by a white lady. So will be way over TDEE. Finished decorating the tree and lit up a small tree down in the backyard. Big winds this evening as a storm front moved in. Very little rain though. Heaps of lightning providing a delightful light show. Youngest grandson (aged 3) was oohing and aahing at every sheet of lightning. It was a long way off so very little thunder. Lots of cooking today. Really eating too much. Looking forwards to the New Year when things will quieted down and bring a little more order into my life. OH leaving again on 1st January.

    Safe travels NorrieB.

Thanks for your continued words of wisdom NorthernDawn. Shall try and keep them in mind tomorrow. Really can’t leave it till the New Year to get back to basics.

    Day 21 UK FD

Right- whenever determined I usually start my sentence with the word right.

Right, today is going to be a FD!

Have been a bit lax lately and tempted by ” oh, it’s Christmas” and treated myself little but way too often. Nothing wrong with that, however not happy, therefore time to take the reigns back.

Also over ate yesterday and felt terrible, which the feeling will definitely help me through today.

Going on holiday on the 27th to Australia – trip of a lifetime for me. Sydney, Gold Coast, then Melbourne.
Therefore will continue on the thread till then. Weight in last day 27th. However the couple of 1lb I put on recently hopefully will be gone and I will be the same as end of November, a loss too much of a stretch I think oops 🙊

Then when back at the end of Jan will try and find u guys again. Love this group. Will we start a new thread? I liked the theme of “30 day November 2016 – challenge”. When I joined as it seemed one month at a time. ( I know we continued into Dec, but we were comfortable and happy). 😀

But what about “31 Day January 2017 – Challenge” or something unique to us like “Pocketeers and Fastonians” because the little pocket groups gave me an extra focus or goal to get to, I didn’t do all of them but challenged myself to some. Or we just keep this thread?

Obviously I don’t run the group but just wanna know how to find you all at end of Jan/ start of Feb, when I return. Happy to take a turn next year if required.

Ps before someone points it out, I know I can check in from Oz, however when on hols I want to just relax and have a good time and not sure I will have the time or wifi to check in everyday.

Right – warm water and lemon to start my day! Good luck all xxx

    2nd post

    1. Sorry about the lengthy first post. 2. Happy to carry on with this thread 30 day November 2016 Challenge if it’s easier, even though I recommended a new name. I’ve never set up a thread so haven’t a clue if it’s hard or easy. Just wanted to be able to find the same group that I’m comfortable with.

Also thanks to @back2thefuture for hosting and all words of wisdom.

    Day 21 / Melbourne Australia / NFD

Doing very well despite packing and not getting to bed till midnight, not really sleeping much and then getting up at 4:30 am to catch the 7 am flight from Coolangatta to Melbourne. I treated the extra hunger that evetuated as what I’d feel when fasting which gave me strength to eat mindfully. I even ate Thai dinner and completely passed on any rice and walked away from that meal with belly feeling happy and nourished. I also passed on the biscuits offered with cup of tea at mother in law’s but was easy-ish to do since used excuse it wasn’t gluten free. I love that excuse since no one else ever feels guilty chomping away as I sit there at peace and free of cravings. Also, have to confess the biscuits were packaged and so much less compelling than anything homemade. Mother in law is elderly and in aged care and she does miss baking for Christmas. It actually works for me! ….Less temptation!

    2nd post
@lynzm – I hope you have a fantastic holiday – maybe you could meet one or two of our group members from down under – not sure of the logistics, ha ha that would keep you focused. We will start a new thread (it was easy for December just to keep going as it meant we were not overwhelmed with new members). Don’t worry we will leave a link near the end of this thread so you can find us again – or click on my name and it will bring you to my profile, click on my replies and you can see the thread I am posting on, click on that and you have found your way back to us all. It will probably be along the lines of 31 day January 2017 challenge (if it ain’t broke). You can probably find us in active posts or recent posts as well, lol no excuse not to find us. Ciren did put a hand up for January but if like Santa she is taking a well deserved rest after all the delivering someone else will stand in I am sure. I’ll also keep you to your word lol for a lead sometime in 2017.

Definitely a NFD now – taking some pressure off and I can also do a fast day either tomorrow, Friday or Saturday – such is this wol

    Day 21…. Florida……. FD

Okay 3rd day attempt at a FD… I’ve decided, I’m going to keep attempting to do a FD, until I make it for a full day….. I’m going to do a full day, I just don’t know what day that will be….. lol
Maybe my sense of humor is a little fractured today but I find it funny that I can’t complete a full day. It’s not that I don’t want too but I’ve been so busy that I grab something pop it into my mouth, then as I’m chewing remember that I’m on a FD…. talk about absent minding eating……

I’m hanging out right here until the end of Dec…… although I’m not on the right path, I’m not laying face down on it either….. I’m actually 6 paths over in the yo-yo dieters lane… These people are nuts over here….. some people are laying down, some are offering me diet tips and one women keeps handing me a Herbalife shake….
At least posting keeps me some what focused on what I want to do and what I will accomplish…… one full solid FD!

I am in for continuing in Jan., each and everyone of you have a special place in my heart and I couldn’t imagine carry on with this WOL without you!
For those temporarily stopping and/or moving on, best wishes for the holiday season and a fantastic New Year. I hope to hear from you again real soon!

For those staying on until the end, no matter how bad or grand your day turned out…. let’s talk about it, laugh at it and try it all again tomorrow. Plus, I need one of you to stop these yo-yo dieters from offering me tips….. I was just told, that I need to drink a shot of apple cider vinegar when first waking up….. What the heck….. that sounds disgusting!

    Cheers!

    Day 21, Australia NFD

Really need to get back to better eating and hoping tomorrow is the day for it. Would love to make it a fd, but don’t know that it would work logistically. So am going to aim for a very mindful eating day. Will probably keep it to 16:8 as well.

Made it to Brisbane this afternoon so glad to have a couple of days to wind down, but it probably won’t be that easy!

Fuvvie, I think that would have been lovely to have done the trip solo. It was a bit of a joke with us that it wasn’t really a problem that I was driving all the way just the kids and I as at least I could do it my way! On the weekend we are heading to Moreton Island for six nights, then down to Burleigh for a week. We are hoping to make it up the coast for a day after that as we have family who recently moved to Buderim.

Bert, I love your new years resolution. I think it’s a funny thing as when we do put ourselves first even a little bit and focus on doing some things that are nourishing us in whatever way, we are actually much more useful to everyone else in the long run so it’s not even like they are missing out, we are just giving ourselves what we need. You are important and deserve to give yourself what you need.
Good luck everyone who is off for a while and also those still here. Thanks B2tf for running this double month challenge. I’m not really sure if I will be able to get on every day over the rest of the month, but will definitely drop by when I can. I’m planning to take a bit of a device free time when we go away on Saturday, not even sure what the connection will be like anyway, but want to just relax and spend time with my family and hopefully get them off their devices too! 😉

    Day 21– Colorado, USA– NFD

Today I’ve got a physical therapy appointment, then some last minute Christmas & grocery shopping to do. All that running around will keep me nicely occupied & away from fridge. May even make it all the way to dinner before eating again today.

    Georgia/USA/Day 21/NFD

    Day 21 USA (Illinois)

NFD today, heading off shortly to give my Wednesday piano lessons. The 3 families where I teach (home-schooled children) are all getting a bag of Clementines (Mandarin oranges) and just a small candy/toy item. They’re all pretty health conscious, but did want to find something sweet. My grocery had these on sale. Yeah!

I will do my best to make it through December on maintenance, but people keep throwing sweets at me! It can be hard to be impolite. 😉 MFP is helping though, even with a tidbit of candy added to my day.

For those leaving us for holiday time, stay strong! We’ve made it this far, so don’t give up now. A church friend said the other day she has gained 8 pounds back of what she had lost on South Beach Diet, giving up until January, and will start back at it again. I am not sure how to encourage her…

    Onward and downward!!

    Day 21,Gozo, Malta, NFD

Today is a nfd for me. I’m still maintaining and enjoying Christmas time.

Happy Wednesday everyone, Christmas is only three days away.

    Day 21 – Staffordshire UK – FD

I’m back, still not 100% well, but definitely on the mend. Feel well enough to try a Fast Day, and I need it. Scales say 155.2lb which is up 3lb from beginning of December. Not surprised as I’ve hardly moved these last couple of weeks. Glad to be over the worse before Christmas and hopefully can squeeze in a few Fast Days before we see in the new year.

    Day 21 | FD | Bucks UK

    Day 21: Gloucestershire, UK….another non-fast day.

    Day 21 WA USA NFD

I’m planning on making this a 16:8 day. My son & I will be having a time with my daughter & grandsons – our immediate family Christmas time today.

Snow has been cleared so we can get around quite readily today. It’s a beautiful winter wonderland here in eastern Washington.

It’s nice to visualize all the different places people are spending this Christmas time. One thing I’m enjoying is some extra reading of historical fiction Christmas short stories – what a treat!

    Day 21|NFD|Toronto

    Day 21 Minnesota, USA NFD
Beautiful day here, today. Around 40 deg. F, so actually 60 degrees warmer than Sunday morning, when it was -20F. Not sure what the wind chill was. Today, the snow is melting a bit and the sun is shining. Heading out to do some last minute shopping. Best of luck to everyone. Stay mindful! “Happy Winter” to the northern hemispherites (I hope it’s a mild and short one), and “Happy Summer” to you all in the southern hemisphere! Enjoy your summer and your Holidays! Wish I was there! Lol!

    2nd Post : Day 21 : FD

I had to cancel my Christmas lunch as some work came in that I needed to deal with. Tomorrow is my last day at work until the new year.

So, today turned into a fast day. I only have a couple of hours before I go to bed so I’m busily drinking herbal tea and water.

I’m hoping that this turns into a b2b fast tomorrow but will let you all know if that happens.

    xoxo

    Days 20 FD: 21 & 22 NFDs – Melbourne
FD good;NFD yesterday not so good – stayed away from bread, but got the evening munchies so had an extra snack of pumpkin seeds and cheese. Probably over TDEE for the day. Was craving bread, or actually toast, which has been a lifetime favourite food. I would like to stop eating it altogether, but it’s the last Frontier for me. Sugar not a problem; bread a major problem. Maybe I should aim for weekend bread consumption, only.

Sounds like many of us are having some struggles as Christmas nears, as we expected. Let’s just go easy on ourselves, be as reasonable as the situation permits, and occasionally unreasonable if the situation warrants it, knowing that there’s always tomorrow/next year!

Merry Christmas to all and especially – safe and comfortable travels to those on journeys – love and hugs to you all. B V

    Day 21 UK
    16/8 day. All good!
Thankyou for hosting Dec back2thefuture, great job!

    Good luck all!

    BTW
Have reported the Lopez post as I think it is sus. Didn’t open the link.

    Day 21….. Florida….. FD

Today went much better then yesterday…. so far so good on staying within 500 calories. Bit worried about dinner, the husband is making veal parm tonight. Gonna try to stay with in my calories.

Still looking to do another FD tomorrow but will see

    Have a good night

    Cheers

Day 21: Pacific NW USA, traveling FD. I find not eating while traveling to be very doable. The habitual meal times are already done away with and I just keep moving along. We said good-bye to some family members this morning and so the same now after reading some good-byes on our forum. To both I say, good-bye for now and just until the next hellos!

Lynz – it is not difficult at all to set up a new thread, we’re just waiting for someone who wants to do it. In some of our past months the “leader” has chosen a theme, like more mindful NFD’s or exercice suggestions, or as I did, just a daily commitment to stay as close to our WOL with IF over the holidays.

Bert – never give up! Actually, Dr Fung has high praise for the benefits of ingesting vinegar (he doesn’t say anything about it’s usefulness as a household cleaner, however!)

MissMay – welcome back! That infection threw you for a loop, glad you’re over it!

Golden – edited your entry as you indicated, there’s always tomorrow!

BV – as others have said about the drinks allowance, you can save all your toast parties for the weekends!

Well, OH and I have a few days to get ready for our next lovies to arrive. We are indeed fortunate!

Depending on where you are on this globe, I send holiday or Christmas wishes to you on this longest or shortest day of the year!

    Day 21 Portugal NFD

Too much nice food in the house, as well as visitors … finding it hard to say no to the chocolates, nuts and other snacks. Tomorrow I will try a FD and be more in control of what I am eating. Had a long walk today so at least that was something.

    Day 21 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Started the day well – 1hr aerobic class followed by 1.5hr yoga session – 1 banana with plenty of tea and water – so far so good!

An evening pilates class – dinner out with the group – too much wine and kept picking at food – well over TDEE………

Out for dinner tomorrow again……….FD required on Friday before the weekend’s indulgences………

Must focus or the hard work will be undone – must remember that:-
PERMANENT RESULTS ONLY COMES FROM PERMANENT CHANGES IN DIET AND LIFESTYLES

Stay strong until the end of December fellow 30 Day- November 2016 Challengers – my personal aim is to remain at my ideal weight at the end of the month and not to be defeated by the festive season – I am stronger than that! What is your aim???????

US SC Day 21 NFD. Not doing too good with the 16:8 so hoping for a second FD tomorrow.

    Day 22 sunny West Australia
Yesterday’s FD went better than expected. Crazy busy at work so not time to stop. 24 hours between meals. Broke fast last night at dinner with an entree serve squid salad – delicious. Young nephew happy recipient of accompanying chips/ fries.
Today’s FD going OK. Went 17 hours and then had a chicken kebab for lunch. Not sure why I got it. I didn’t finish it and I wasn’t even hungry. Old habits ….
Interested to read that some people are not worrying about eating habits over the festive season.

Not being mindful is certainly how/why I became overweight/fat. I try to be mindful one meal at a time beginning NOW! I am trying to stay away from chocolates, nuts etc and telling myself it is only for this year. Next year at Christmas I can do as I please. But I don’t really see the point in my losing weight if I eat mindlessly over the next few weeks and end up back where I started!!
I agree with your sentiments AT – I am determined to make these changes permanent.

Looking forward to the full roast Christmas dinner which I am cooking with pudding, trifle, cassata and pavlova for dessert . Have been doing some Christmas cooking – but no licking the bowl this year.

WellRounded I agree that logging in only takes a few minutes. It is a very important part of the day for me . Keeps me on track and reminds me of what I am trying to accomplish.

Loubelles – you are SO lucky to be going to Burleigh. We used to spend a week there for some years when our son lived in the Gold Coast. It’s a beautiful place, very relaxed and we loved it.
B2tf – thank you so much for being ‘ mother hen’ and keeping track of us all. You did a great job and it was much appreciated. I’m happy to keep posting in 2017.
To those leaving and going on holiday – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
To those staying – look forward to hearing how the next few days go.

Day 22 Sunshine Coast Qld Australia NFD: Just quick check-in. Off to do chicken cacciatore for dinner. Only 3 adults and 3 children tonight. Much easier. Feels like we’ve been cooking for a cast of thousands. Happy travels. Happy staying at home getting on with preparations for Christmas. Bring it on.

    Day 21 USA Hawaii NFD
    18:6

    Day 22 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

Yesterday’s fast day was hard, the mince pies were calling to me, but I somehow resisted.

Going to go for a run later, which will hurt a bit after my inactive weeks. I’ve signed up for my first half marathon in March so the sooner I get back to running the better.

Thank you b2tf for the well wishes and for looking after the thread xx

UK day 22 NFD all going well , seem to be naturally falling into 16:8 or even 18:6 so despite having a couple of drinks still well under TDEE which hopefully will enable me to stay at my current weight. Off to do big shop now, will have a coffee and catch up on posts when I get back

Hello everyone UK day 22 low day

For all your singers, music lovers have you heard Kaylee Rogers singing Hallelujah? She is a 10 yr old from Donaghadee in Northern Ireland and her performance at her school concert has gone viral. Even more special she has autism.

    Catch up later x

    Day 22, London, NFD

My FD yesterday did not happen- not that it’s an excuse but there is so much food around that I cannot resist (for example, here’s what’s lurking by the coffee machine in work just today: rum cake, Turkish delight, candied orange peel and several massive boxes of assorted chocolates. Ain’t fair ;-))

I have a dinner tonight, but will try to be on liquids until then. Another night out tomorrow, too. Oh, well.

I hope that all you lovely people enjoy the festive season, no matter how and what you celebrate, and that everyone finds a bit of quiet time to reflect.

Day 22– Colorado, USA– NFD, I think? But shooting for FD.

Haha! Bert, I totally feel you. I keep attempting FD, but derail a bit later in the day.

Goes a little something like this:
… Start out as FD, then something unexpected will crop up for dinner (happens this time of year!) and it will morph into a NFD because I’ll end up over 500 calories (but still below TDEE.) Never sure what to call these days. Kind of a No Man’s Land of in-between.

BUT, the good thing is I’m still managing to do 16:8 or 24 hour fasts (dinner to dinner.) And the scale is slowly inching it’s way downward, while I still have good energy for the gym & getting in some nice social time without going hog-wild. So, winning! 🙂

Georgia/USA/DAY 22/FD: Happy Holidays! Looking to get a good fast day in before Christmas and all the food I’ll get to eat on Sunday. I’m going to eat in moderation which has gotten a whole lot easier lately. I’m beginning to be more accountable for what I eat on these days.
