    USA. Day 5 FD

    Pocket List – Day 5 🐟
    @stitchincarol
    @ccco

My FD went well yesterday, except that I had my weekly glass of wine. That means that today will go well, as I will not be having any more wine until next week.

Merryapple, I will try to send you that link but first can you tell me what an RNZ address is?

I did too much yesterday, so today is a rest day. I am so tired!

    Have a great day!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning All..
Walked in the local country park, more like a forest with walk ways. A fair few dogs about with it been Saturday. I went with Andrea ( Natalie’s mum)

Need to go for a bit of shopping.

I am altering dress, having a bit of advice from Andrea, collecting my eggs and she is taking one of Charlie’s harnesses to try.

    Hedgehog..
Had the day went well with mum, it most be so hard when she has got the dementia but it’s not too bad. Did you buy anything nice or was if general shopping?

    Dave..
Still thinking on decorating.. I don’t know whether to start or leave it till after holidays.
It seems a long time to wait for Denise doesn’t she get an appointment time? Or just wait…
Cows are out one side of the village but not the other… it’s two separate river banks..

Hemmy, Nana are you doing anything this weekend?

    Jean x

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Yes treat yourself HH, you deserve it for all that you do. The sun is out again so summer is almost upon us. Need to do the decorating but just can’t find the motivation at the moment.Jean if this weather continues the cows will be out soon. I do like cows but have to be very careful around them.Denise as got to go to the walk-in centre at the hospital Monday and Friday too have her dressing changed.I will drop her off at the hospital, when I’ve been there it’s at least a 4 hour wait sometimes 6 hours so don’t envy her. She is ok the following two weeks she can’t go to our GP to have it done.

    Day 5 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 🌤

@stitchincarol – congrats on the number!🎯 I hope you enjoyed the restaurant; but – ‘Plank’? Seems like an odd name for a restaurant? 😅 Sending you RESOLVE for your Saturday FD 💪

@lilymartin – yes, I think I’ve got the FDs nailed down, though they will never be my favourite days of the week. It’s been a long time since I did B2B FDs though. I might do an occasional 3rd FD, maybe on a Tuesday. I’ve gotten used to the ton of food that appears at the mosaic class, but this week I was surprised when someone produced a large container of what looked like small Eccles Cakes at the line-dancing?! 😂 The line-dancing is only an hour long, but we usually have a brief 5 minute break midway, because most of the gang are in their 70’s & even early 80’s. But I never expected to see someone passing around snacks, & I hope it doesn’t become a regular thing.

@daffodil2010 – Yes, Boo Boo is still a furry little diva. Sadly her nemesis Popsie succumbed to kidney failure just 3 days before Christmas, so Boo Boo is happily ruling this end of the village. I also wonder how @flourbaby – & Bo-Bo – are doing. @flourbaby disappeared around mid-November after mentioning problems related to her job. Hopefully she’ll be back soon too! 🤞

It’s a lovely, sunny 22 C today, but the mornings & evenings are noticeably cooler. Winter is on the way…

    Have a good weekend everyone 🌤 🌈

    Day 5 NZ NFD 🏃🏼‍♀️70.3kg🔻

I had a lovely night with my art family at the Auckland Art Gallery. I didn’t eat (I had dinner before I went) but had several glasses of🍷 then the chap who dropped me home came in for more🍷 I woke hungry and had two slices of sourdough and two scrambled eggs for breakfast before heading up Mt Eden with Paisley the Scottie😋
I spent the rest of the day sewing up a rather difficult mohair/wool lace stitch jersey because of trying to get the right amount of stretch in all the seams. I have undone more than I have stitched up…
@penz Being able to reminisce about her mother over dinner I’m sure will be a great help for your friend’s grief.
@icystorm Probably icecream is my Achilles heel so I don’t have it in the house or buy one on a stick!!
    Those
@iona72 That’s still a lot of steps esp if it’s up and down ladders!!
@stitchincarol That menu is gorgeous. There are so many things on it I’d love to try!! Our seafood restaurants tend to lean towards Asian (Chinese) or Mediterranean flavours rather than Mexican. I am drooling!!!
@daffodil2010 Congrats on the 3lb loss. Success breeds success!!
@ccco Can you not highlight and copy the RNZ address and then paste it into a email or text? I’m with you on the three FDs. I will do it intermittently to claw back a big food day!!
@jaifaim Enjoy your Welsh walking. I used to watch Baldrick (can’t remember his real name!) walking the tracks and trails around the country. Wales looked wonderful.
@funshipfreddie A fair where you can sell some mosaics sounds rather fun. My good friend was picked up speeding in her Holden on the motorway y’day ($270 fine) weaving through the slow traffic to get to a job. She was wearing scrubs and the policeman said “You should know better, you’re a nurse!!”

    Have a great Saturday night!!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

LJ, good to have you back and I’m sorry that things took an ‘uphill’ slide for you. You’re here now and back fasting, the heat of summer is over so hopefully you’ll be back to your old self (and weight) very soon.

Anzac, I forgot to say that your post made me laugh. We’ve always called Australia the land of the acronym. People can speak a whole sentence using them. It’s like another language to learn. ‘BIRs’ was the first one to baffle us when we moved there looking for a house to rent.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Hello everyone.
I’m sorry if you were worrying. I really didn’t mean to leave it this long, but I just got out of the habit of checking the forum – and time goes surprisingly fast.

I had an unusually busy and tiring time over Dec-Jan and I completely withdrew from all online interactions. Even when things calmed down, the fatigue seemed to continue and I didn’t come back to this forum or to some vlogs that I used to follow regularly. I barely turn my laptop on these days. There are other habits that I have that are far less helpful – I wish I could break those as easily!

My weight has been a struggle. Over December and January, when life was very hectic, I gained 8kg. While I managed to stop the weight gain, I am having little success getting my weight back to where I was 5 months ago. I’ve even had difficulty sticking to some of my FDs, which had not been a problem before. My low exercise levels haven’t helped either. I’ve been walking much less than I used to. This is partly due to knee pain, which reduces the distance I can manage. We have also had a particularly hot dry summer in Adelaide and I find it quite unpleasant going for a walk in anything above 28C. Now that temperatures have eased, I’m still having to cajole myself onto getting out and walking each day – another habit that I broke for long enough that I easily forget to go out and walk.

Today is a FD for me. I’ve been for a walk and called into the green grocer for limes on the way home. I need them for Cinque’s mung bean soup that I have made for tonight’s dinner. I hope it tastes ok. I misread the recipe and put 1 tablespoon each of fenugreek and cumin, instead of 1 teaspoon.

I hope you are all ok. I haven’t been reading posts so I’m not caught up with what has been happening in your lives. I will go back a few pages and read some posts now.
    Take care everyone.

    Day 5, NFD, Aus

I had to do some online banking which was the perfect excuse to jump on here for accountability!

Cooking a roast tonight for a dear friend who just lost her mother after a long illness. It will be a sorrowful evening I fear.

    Day 4, USA, CD

It’s hard to believe we’re already about five days into April (less than three hours away for me—and many of you are already well into Day 5).

It was a CD for me today. I’m planning an FD tomorrow, aiming for a total of 600 calories.

Here’s a question for everyone: What’s the one food you know will lead to quick and undesired weight gain for you?

For me, it’s potato chips. Baked potatoes and mashed potatoes don’t have that effect, but potato chips definitely do. I can get away with eating a lot of things I probably shouldn’t without affecting the scales—but potato chips are the WHAMMO food for me, and I always try to avoid them.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and progress toward your goals.

    Kind regards,
    Joseph

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Cali thanks for the LJoyce update it’s a relief to know she is okay. Like Neil, I was having Penguin thoughts.

Quacka yes Aquafaba is very good for health and I’ve seen mayo recipes using it but haven’t tried to make it that way, maybe next time if I remember.

I have 2 pair of expensive shoes, over $300 retail each but purchased on sale. They are Vivo Barefoot shoes, I have a black hiking boot and a white gym shoe and they were worth every cent. They are designed for the foot not for fashion by being very wide across the toes and minimalist sole so the foot and toes have room to spread out as they naturally should and minimalist sole allows the foot to feel the ground contact while allowing the sole of the foot to walk as it was designed to. I wear them all the time and since using them and ditching the standard shoes I no longer have foot and toe problems. With all the walking we did in Adelaide during the fringe my feet felt just as good at the end of the day as at the start. I still have tons of standard shoes which I rarely wear nowadays but on the odd occasion I do need a pair to suit an outfit.

Saturday weekly weight tally has recorded another loss of 0.6 and a reduction in body fat %, bmi etc but still no change in sinus’s condition but I will continue dairy free until Tuesday which will make it 2 weeks, I figure no change in that time means dairy is not the culprit. However, I’m thinking that it may be helping with my weight loss as I’m not consuming the good dairy fats so I will be mindful when I return to dairy to keep a check on the good fat intake.

So lovely sitting on the front verandah this morning I’m feeling very unmotivated to get moving and do some chores. Have a good weekend everyone x

    DAY 4 NE England NFD

I was supposed to be fasting until lunch today but I just couldn’t resist breakfast, unusual for me. The rest of the day has been more controlled but I’m having a glass of wine this evening. Not quite so many steps today @funshipfreddie currently 16,926!!
The weather has been lovely this week and set to continue so hope to get some garden work done next week when we are back from decorating duty!
Have a great weekend all, stay strong. 🏋🏽‍♂️

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Afternoon!
Dave- that’s good they’re finally treating Denise, I don’t think it’s something that can really be cured but more managed, not nice … Keep strong with your goal, & hopefully trading standards do something about the roofers…
Jean- so sad about Tony, especially with the connection to Steve, hugs to you 🤗 Well done losing a pound.
Hemmy- well done for you as well! Shame about the bunny, stuff like that upsets me lots too …
Nana- hope all’s well with you?
I stayed the same this week, which I expected after last weekend. Mum wasn’t too bad yesterday, quite muddled today, she’s not going out as much, saying she can’t walk as far, it’s partly the dementia I think, losing motivation…I did try to encourage her to come to a keep fit class aimed at the elderly but she won’t. Rang one of my HS families, they’re doing really well so that’s good. Had a haircut, did a bit of shopping, some housework & a bit in the garden. Maybe a day out tomorrow!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening All..
A good walk no cows… might catch up with Natalie’s mum as she’s flying tomorrow..

Played boules won one lost one. I am playing quite well with my new eyes.

Sat in a garden with wine relaxing, the boy likes me with him.

    Hemmy..
Tony was a good friend he was always there for me with any help or advice I needed. Steve and Tony were very close, he use to ring me at 7am in a morning, strange the time came I was thinking about him. Well done on the pound off .,me too lost a pound..

    Dave..
Glad there has been some progress with Denise’s legs..they are so slow.. hope it all helps.

Hope all going well hedgehog and Nana.. what are you up too?

    Have a good weekend..

    USA. Day 4 (already!) FD

    Pocket List – Day 4 🫒
    @merry🍎
    @at
    @anicecupoftea
    @ccco

Merryapple, I read that 4:3 article that FUNSHIPFREDDIE sent us, too. It is tempting. I think I will do it from time to time. I have to be careful because I can get too tired, if I don’t eat enough! Good luck with your effort. Let us know how it goes. I also read your New Zealand article. I wanted to pass it on to my younger sister, who is a professor at the University of Maryland and a political reporter in D.C. but I wasn’t able to share. In any case, know that al of us here, as well as everywhere, are concerned about all of this. I hope this doesn’t last long. Even the price of second hand cars has gone up already, just like during Covid. My nephew’s car is old and he wanted to buy a new one but it is too expensive, even for an older one. He will have to dip into his education funds. He is saving to get his Masters and PhD. Also, thank you about your grandma comment. I am definitely enjoying being a grandma, plus they are among the few that still tell me out loud that they love me. They are so sweet and cute and never fail to make my day! Enjoy your book launch!

    Jaifaim, enjoy your trip!

NorthGeorgia, good luck with all your appointments.

FUNSHIPFREDDIE, I think you should exhibit at that art fair. I have seen some of those art fairs and was impressed with many of the projects I saw. There really was quite a bit of talent there!

Daffodil12010, it’s great that you are getting all those walks in. I haven’t been able to take any recently due to my renovations but they are done and I wil be back on the roads again! I love taking in nature during my walks. Also, congratulations on your 3 lb. weight loss!

That sounds great, Stitchincarol. That encourages me for my fasts.I have the same reaction to a WFD. Afterwards, my hunger is dampened. I don’t quite understand why but it’s useful. Good luck with all that paperwork. That can be daunting.

I hope everyone is having a great day today! 🤗

Day 4 country west Australia NFD
On a very quick 2 day break with DS and family by the beach for 2 days so no FDs for a few days but then a definite FD starting next week.
@stitchincarol😇😇, well done on the 153. Long may that number continue !! Especially with all the crazy busyness of your life at present!
@daffodil2010😇😇for you too on your 3 lbs loss. Some of you are doing extremely well with your health and weight loss.
@northgeorgia 😇😇on the 237 lbs and also on being proactive with your health checks. I absolutely HATE 😵‍💫the colonoscopy prep but so worth it to get everything checked out.
@funshipfreddie, yes what a pocket list !! Well done to all those doing a FD. 😇😇 Halos left, right and centre today !!
It sounds as though you and the rest of the residents are going to be busy with making
lots of things for the sale. Hope your creative flair gets a workout !😊
Glad Boo Boo is going OK.
Don’t feel badly about the KitKats – they are delicious. Food is just food and you are vey good at FDs and B2B FDs so I’m sure a couple of KitKats won’t derail you !😁 No shame needed.
@anicecupoftea, as @jaifaim said, many of us have lurked with and without intent at times. But it is so good to have you join us. We all help each other through the ups and downs of this journey. 😊
@jaifaim, enjoy the hiking/trekking for 5 days. May you be blessed with sunshine, good company and lovely views.🚶🏾‍♀️🌞
@merryapple, good luck with the 4:3. 70.5 gs sounds pretty good to me 😇- looking to get in to the 70s myself !! Enjoy the book launch. A salad sounds ideal.
@ccco so sorry to hear your had singles even after the injection – it can be very painful, shingles that is.
How precious to be able to read to your grandson’s class. What fun times and so lovely.😊
    Have a good day everyone.😊

    Day 4 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 153.8

Whoop-whoop!! That’s the first time I’ve hit 153-anything since January, and more than compensates for the ugly weights I had earlier this week. I’ve decided to add a third FD to my routine, as @merryapple is saying, and as your article suggested, @funshipfreddie. This week, it will be Saturday, but my plan is to schedule it whenever it works in my life. So, @jaifaim, at least for this morning, I’ve blown right past the 154s!! And have a lovely time on your hiking trip in Wales!

@anicecupoftea I too have been astonished at how the hunger level is not necessarily reflective of what you’ve eaten. For me, it’s that I go to bed ravenous at the end of a WFD and wake up with zero interest in food, LOL!

@daffodil2010 Well done on your 3 lb drop this week! The dramatic results when first resuming fasting are very inspiring, aren’t they?

I continue to be buried in paperwork, both the bookkeeping I’m doing for taxes, and also the digital copies of my MIL’s will, her death certificate, etc (because we’re using the money from her as a large part of our down payment), as well as statements of our own…it’s truly daunting. Tonight we go to a lovely seafood restaurant in downtown Omaha, so a longer drive than usual, but we’re SO looking forward to it! We got a coupon for everything half-price, a one-week promotion to celebrate their new menu, so it was impossible to ignore the offer! Here: https://www.plankprovisions.com/main-omaha Yum, yum!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 4 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Yesterday was a very good controlled NFD day with two walks and lots of fluid…and this morning after my walk and leaping about to my metabolism exercise I am so happy to confirm a 3lb loss since Monday 😀

So happy was I that I decided to skip breakfast again ( I love breakfast and it’s not my natural state to not have it), and waited until lunch to have chicken, cucumber and black olives with little gem lettuce. Halo is shining. 😇

The weigh in was a round number, planning to move down to the next decade by early next week, must control myself this weekend.

And it’s the weekend. @penz with Red Wine& Pizza Night comes to mind 🍷 Ha ha.
But will be mindful and stick to a homemade chicken curry or something.

@funshipfreddie happy to hear BooBoo still going strong with you. I often thought of how the cats of the forum were getting on over the past year, there is also @flourbaby and BoBo and somebody had a Wilbur that ruled the house?
I remember my Missie daily, but no more pets for me. 😔

  • Astro April ⭐️

    Day 4 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 237 lbs. The doctor visit yesterday was to gain access to the exclusive club (according to my attending nurse LOL): the colonoscopy screening club! Anyway, the appointment is set for mid-June. Now I’m off to the dermatologist. Same thing — I haven’t been in over 10 years (oops, time gets away) and I didn’t care for my last visit, so I’m changing back to the practice I saw about 20 years ago.

    Day 4, SE England, FD
Trying a back to back FD today – been going since Weds evening…. it’s really bizarre that after a certain time point, there is just no hunger at all – feel like I could go for days. Planning a stop tomorrow lunchtime though and then back to a 5:2 next week but not b2b.

Been thinking about triggers having read some of your posts – there are things I need to avoid to prevent the “bruce bogtrotter” effect once I open the gate. Honestly don’t think I’ll ever be able to moderate some items so need to just put them aside. Easier said than done.

Thank you for all of the welcomes, I’ve been lurking here for a bit so feel like I know you all somewhat – sorry if that seems strange. Just needed time before joining in.

Have a wonderful day, I hope the sun is shining wherever you are (insert sun emoji) – don’t know how to do this….

    Day 4 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 71 ⭐

What a pocket list yesterday?! Double figures – it’s been a while since that happened. I achieved my stellar FD, & was patting myself on the back for reaching + 9000 steps. Until I saw @iona72 clocked up + 23,000! 🤯 A gold star for you! ⭐

@penz – accountability April – starting next week..? 😅 You’re funny! As for the spam mail – don’t just delete them. Maybe you already know this; but you should just move them to your spam folder. This will help your email provider better identify & filter future spam messages from the same senders.

@lilymartin – how did we ever survive without the internet/wifi?!

@excelsior12309 – I haven’t really made anything post-worthy recently. Just lizards, house-numbers etc for neighbours. We’re having a small ‘art fair’ later this year to mark the 40th anniversary of the retirement village I live in. Anyone who paints, draws, knits or does anything creative has been asked to exhibit and/or sell their creations. So I’m going to make lots of coasters & other knick-knacks to flog at the fair.

@merryapple – my sweet tooth IS all to do with Chunky KitKats. And anything else involving chocolate & wine gums. The KitKats were on special again recently, & I just couldn’t resist. I ate two in one day! The shame 😳 At least I’m resisting the peanuts, & I’ve been teetotal now for 2 & a half years! The wee darling – Boo Boo you mean? She’s fast asleep on my lap after putting away two breakfasts. I think I need to introduce her to IF 😅 A Friday FD?! Go for it! 🎯 💪

    @jaifaim – enjoy your trip! ✈

I’m off to Doppio Zero for brunch again. Happy Fri-yay y’all! 🍹

    Day 4 NZ FD 70.5kg🔻

I’m trying a third FD this week after reading about 4:3 c/- @funshipfreddie. I’m off to a book launch this evening at the art gallery and EtOH might be involved along with nibbly food… I think I’ll prepare a salad to have before I leave.
It’s too wet for exercise but the good news about a windy weather front is that it blows through quickly. Tomorrow I’ll be out and up the cone!!
Hi and welcome aboard @anicecupoftea. We’ve all been there!!
@stitchincarol Remember your 1-5 hunger scale and eating when you’re quite hungry not v hungry. I might try this because I think feeling hungry prior to eating might help kickstart the downward slippery slope…
@lilymartin Thanks for the big post to everyone! How are you going?

After two kids in last 5 years, I have some weight to lose to get again to my prepregnancy weight. I did not get back to that weight after my first child, and after my second I am now even more far.

I have been dieting for last two weeks so i do not expect big water weight loss since i lost 1.2 kg already.

I am starting with 72.8 kg
I hope to get to 64 kilos. But my first goal weight is 68 kilos.

My plan is to stick to 4:3 with 800 kcal on fasting days. Plan B is 5:2 on some weeks

  • reversing type 2 diabetes & the fastday lifestyle

From all of the research I have done, Michael Mosely, Dr Jason Fung (The Obesity Code), Prof Roy Taylor, Diabetes UK et al, the main cause of T2 is a Lifestyle choice. That is not to say that it is the only cause, age may be another but do not fall into the trap of saying “I have it so I will live with it”. Fasting is an effective way for many but not the total panacea.

Accountability April it shall be, @lilymartin!

I wanted to weigh this morning to see if I have retained the loss I experienced from being ill, but I feared the result. So I avoided the scales! Maybe next week after my Monday FD…. What a wuss.

I’ve got stable internet (thank you) but somehow my email address has got out there and I have recently started getting all sorts of US-based spam that does not get caught by my spam folder. Very frustrating.

Love the idea of wallpapering to keep out of the kitchen, @iona72. My windows are in dire need of washing… maybe I should try the same technique!

No need to apologise, @icystorm, we all get busy and miss posts. But thank you for answering my question, very interesting. And lucky you for having a job that you still enjoy after so long.

Well, RW&PN for me! Have a great weekend everyone.

  • reversing type 2 diabetes & the fastday lifestyle

@lapseu I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes last year and was recommended for the Second Nature programme by my GP. This is basically a low carb, balanced plate approach. 8 months later I have lost 17 pounds and a recent blood test showed a significant decrease in blood glucose, moving me out of pre-diabetic range. IF has really helped too.

    Day 3 NE England NFD

@jaifaim You make a good point, I don’t class it as a plateau as I’m not really sticking to the plan, but as you noted, I’m not at goal either!🤷🏻‍♀️ and I have eaten rather too well today but I did do 23,000+ steps.
I really hope to do better over the next few days. We are going to visit our daughter in her new house at the weekend and will be wallpapering the nursery for her. That will keep me out of the kitchen.

FUNSHIPFREDDIE, I just read your article and I hope that research is correct. That would be so helpful. I have had the original shot and the two new shots, as well. Nevertheless, I got shingles during Covid. I do recognize that when the shot is offered, they say that the shot may prevent shingles and not that it will. I kept that on my mind because I also knew that stress can trigger it. Of course, we all know how stressful Covid was. And those tariffs are something else!!

@stitchincarol, congratulations on that weight loss. Every little bit helps.

ANiceCupofTea, welcome back. I have been here a long time and I like it here. Good luck in your journey.

Merryapple, I saw that movie, too, and you are right!

Excelsior12309, good luck with today’s FD.

I had such a busy day yesterday and, although I am still tired, I find that is exactly what I need. I never think of find when I am busy. I was a secret visitor to my grandson’s school class and read them a book. I and they loved it. It was so much fun and always a blessing to see how much my grandchildren love me. The teacher took photos. While weight wise I didn’t look bad, I look so old!
I don’t know when that happened!! LOL All the dieting and exercise I do won’t change that. I just have to keep doing the best I can!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Day 3 NFD country west Australia 83 kgs.
A big thank yo9u to @at for setting p the spreadsheet. I really really appreciate that.❤️💐
@stitchincarol, paperwork – ugh! good luck with that. Just do what you can every day and I am sure the numbers will level out .😊 You must be so busy and thoughts going in all directions.
@northgeorgia, sometimes the numbers can be our downfall and not always truthful ! I hope the momentum keeps going this week and see where you are in 7 days.🤞I hope the Gastroenterologist appointment went ok?
@excelsior12309, glad to have you back. Interesting about the beef tallow !! It will be interesting to see how that pans out.🤔
@funshipfreddie – the vagaries of living in the country here in WA. Talked with the local Australia Post manager today ( where we get our mail). I had to buy something and he asked me to use cash. His EFTPOS machine has been down for a week now and because it is in the country no-one is interested in coming out to get him going again.
Poor man has not been able to do most of his business during the past week. So people have had to either wait or drive 40 kms to the nearest town !😱
Good luck with your stellar FD.😊
Hi @anicecupoftea and welcome. A lot of us have been in the same boat. 5:2 works and then some of us fall off the wagon and the weight comes back on….
Fasting is very good for the body generally
But I find that I have to be more vigilant on NFDs than on the FDs. So now I have FDs and CDs – trying to keep to my TDEE on the CDs certainly helps. And yes, posting on here really helps with accountability and can be motivating. Happy to have you with us for the journey.😁
@brightonbelle, glad to see you checking in.
@merryapple, thanks again for starting the thread. Yes it is very interesting to watch / read docos and articles about food. Makes me wonder how we get ourselves to eat anything !! But sadly, I still do and too much at times …..😲🙄
Sorry to read about your tech problems – tech will either drive me insane or be the death of me !!!😱😱🤬
@jaifaim,don’t worry too. much about the numbers, just keep on keeping on with 5:2 and see how it goes over the longer time.
@daffodil2010, welcome back !! I think our journeys have been pretty similar. Good to have you along and happy to hold your hand. Together we CAN do this. !😁
@icystorm, well done on the 3 lbs loss and hoping you find your mojo in April.🤞
@iona72, Aiming to be Aware April for you ! That sounds like a good start. We’ll help you.💐
@penz, I think a lot of us know how life happens and we sometimes don’t post as much as we would like. Let’s make Accountability April a better month for posting and checking in .😇
@molij, best wishes for a good recovery. I hope your voice returns OK.🙏Take it easy and rest and allow your body to heal in it’s own time.
So that’s a wrap from me today and hoping the tech keeps going well. 🤞🤞
Have a good FD to those who are fasting . Good decision making to all who are on CDs/FDs/NFDs.
Hunger pangs are the feeling of fat cells shrinking…

Day 3 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD

Even after eating yesterday, I’m down half a pound this morning over yesterday’s weight after a WFD. I was so upset by that number, and now I know it was either a very odd water-retention weight, or perhaps I should have stepped on the scale a second time to see if the weight changed. However, even though it’s better, it’s certain not close to achieving a 140s weight, so I’ll continue to do my best at diligence.

My best, however, keeps getting distracted by taxes and house paperwork. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll be so glad when all this is over and we can simply face the stress of packing up and moving. 😂🤣😂

    Welcome back, @anicecupoftea!

@daffodil2010 You’ve mentioned “tuna and egg salad” before I realized, but it’s not something I’ve ever heard of or had. Do you mix it all up with a mayo dressing, or keep it separate and use an oil-based dressing, or what?

@northgeorgia When do you get the results of your tests yesterday?

Okay, off I go! Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day -No. VA USA-FD
Joining the fasters for today. Welcome, ANiceCupOfTea! Many of us have had the ups and downs of trying different methods to control weight over the years. I like the IF method, and if I stick to the program, I have found it works, even as I get older and the metabolism slows down.
@merryapple, it is amazing we don’t all collapse from food poisoning on a regular basis! It is us vs. the various bacteria and viruses, all the time. Factory food production is upsetting to hear about and to see, I agree. Now that our new Health and Human Services director has endorsed using beef tallow in frying instead of vegetable and seed oils, I wonder where all the extra beef will come from?
I am not proud of our new tariffs, particularly on the unpopulated islands near Antarctica. Penguins must pay their fair share, apparently. Maybe not thought through, similar to the beef tallow!
@daffodil2010, welcome back and I think of you when I see all our lovely daffodils in bloom this time of year!
@stitchincarol, good luck with the new house. How exciting for you!
    @icystorm, your dedication is inspiring!
@funshipfreddie, isn’t it time for you to show a new mosaic creation?
Best wishes for fasting energy today!

Hi, day 3, SE England, FD. Newbie (ish).

I’ve been on and off here for the last 10yrs or so, originally bought the book off the back of the Horizon TV program and lost some weight through fasting (5:2 and 16:8 mainly). Long story short, have tried in the meantime some other methods (keto, LCHF, SW etc.) and although they all work in the short term, incorporating fasting seems to have the most impact. My struggle is with the post FD frenzy – need to figure out how to keep a lid on that. Hoping that rather than lurking here and reading all of your monthly “diaries”, by interacting and putting myself “out here”, I will find a way around it.

So, Hi from me and have a good day.

    Day 3 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

@merry🍎 – NZ & the UK lucked out with the tariffs, compared to some countries anyway. S Africa got 30%. The Rand has sunk to nearly R 25 to the pound & R 19 to the US$. I don’t think it helps when we pretend to be neutral, yet cosy up to the likes of China & Russia. I hope you enjoyed your birthday lunch, without blowing your FD! 😅 Just saw your post re Netflix’s ‘Poisoned’. Sounds fascinating. I started watching the British crime drama ‘Adolescence’ last night. I tried watching it dubbed into Spanish & was surprised I could follow it. Brilliant acting though.

Going for a ⭐ stellar FD today. Despite maintaining successfully – so far – bad habits are creeping back in, not least my sugar addiction.

An interesting article about the shingles vaccine & dementia:-

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone,my first league game of bowls today. The team lost yesterday by 20 points, but that is a very hard league. Today will be difficult we were prom from the 3rd division and the team we play were relegated from the top division. And we play one their green so it’s a new green for me to learn. Denise’s legs are really weaping and she’s forever wiping them with sterile wipes, I’ve bought 100 of them and lots of bandages. She will get it done properly tomorrow with the district nurse. Had too much to eat yesterday so nose to the grindstone as they say. Back too losing weight. One more stone to reach my target that I set years ago.

    2nd post Day 3

Yeah!! @stitchincarol That’s it!! Thank you!!

I’m just watching Netflix’s Poisoned: The dirty truth about your food. OMG you all have to watch it… V interesting about E. coli, Salmonella etc and the role of the US regulators. I have never seen farming practices like this… NZ has outlawed high density chicken farming. The cattle’s situation nearly made me cry to see them living on vast feed lots right next to the lettuce farm… I now know to ask for a hamburger cooked to 155 degrees F in the USA and don’t eat Romaine lettuce…
    On that note… G’night!!

    Day 3 – Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾

    158 lbs

No idea what is going on with my numbers. 🤷‍♀️

@molij – I am thinking about you and hope you receive good news today 💕

@iona72 – fantastic that the results brought such good news for you but you want to stay there and not risk getting that news again? And you can do that 🤩 I might have misunderstood but if you still need to lose then I would say you have not actually been at maintenance but have plateaued? So you may be at a weight where you have sort of got stuck? Maintenance will be when you reach your goal weight and then stay on or near that weight.. I find it difficult but others here are managing it really well.

@icystorm – thanks! Well done to you and we will make big efforts this month 💪 won’t we @merryapple 🤩

@stitchincarol yes thanks I have quite a few holidays to take now as I stayed close to home for the last part of the year 💕 💕. Off to Wales tomorrow to walk some of the Pembrokeshire coast with friends from near there …and then will be cycling in May and maybe a bit of yoga after that we will see… Yes let’s chase 154 together!!!! 🏃🏽 🏃🏽
I’m not going to say who my money is on! 😂

@northgeorgia hope all goes well today ✔️
    Hi @daffodil2010 ☀️

  • My Journey with Intermittent Fasting

    Hi Kate,

Thank you for sharing your journey with such honesty and vulnerability. It’s truly inspiring to see how you transformed your relationship with food and your body through intermittent fasting. So many people struggle with restrictive diets and the cycle of overeating, and your story is a testament to the power of finding balance rather than chasing perfection.

Intermittent fasting isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about regaining control in a way that feels natural and sustainable. Listening to your body, as you mentioned, is key, and it’s amazing how tracking tools can help with that. Apps like ifastingcalculator.com make it easier to stay mindful of fasting windows and meal timing, without the stress of strict dieting rules.

Wishing you continued success on your journey, and thanks again for sharing your experience—it’s going to help and motivate so many others! 💛

    Day 3 -Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Morning all. Going to keep to 16:8 as much as possible, so nothing until my tuna and egg salad for lunch, then chicken for dinner. Cutting out the white carbs as much as possible too.

I need to catch up on everyone’s news, house purchases, health, Holidays, I have missed a lot the past year. Great to hear you are all still here though!! I will pop back in later after work to catch up.

@icystorm I was a regular on this forum from July 2017 where I lost 30lbs with this WOL, but gained it all back and disappeared in a huff this time last year 😆 Nice to meet you too.

    Later my friends.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

CalifD, I see you’ve already reported on LJ. Yes, my email address is the same but I’ve had issues with not receiving mail for months due to my laptop being so old (14 years) that it couldn’t support further OS updates which affected the email programme. I bought a new laptop in Australia specifically to address that annoyance (one of the few things that was less expensive than England) and I’ve now got a new issue with receiving emails. I’ve also had to purchase separately features that were in-built in my MacBook Pro but that this one doesn’t have. Frustrating as I despair of this ‘technology throwaway era’. Now I need a new iPhone for similar reasons (I’m still using the iPhone7). Absolutely nothing wrong with either the laptop or the phone other than the tech companies have deemed them obsolete. I wish people would stop this mindless consuming, perhaps they will think twice as we enter our new tariff world.

Quacka, thank you for the information on storing shoes. I had no idea. I did love leather boots when I owned a wardrobe and I will heed your advice about not storing them in boxes if I ever get any more. $200 for a pair of shoes, my goodness. I think my boots cost around $100 (always on sale) but they would last me years and years. A huge congratulations on your weight loss, thank you for posting the actual weight as it’s so satisfying to read.

Anzac, hurray, congratulations! Only two days a week on the train – are the passengers still rude?

Hello all, I’m a bit behind with reading.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

LJ has replied apologising for worrying everyone and will post here soon. Whoa! Loads of posts to read now.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning All..
Sad news yesterday, Tony , Steve’s best man and my friend, has died. A bit of a shock for me. Although he had a lot of things going on but he was reasonably fit. He fell in a garden where he had been working broke his arm/shoulder, he went home, his daughter who lives away couldn’t get hold of him, the police broke in and found him.

    Hemmy…
Glad the dentist went well, it’s not good when you have to change, good price too.
Nails look good bright pink a change from my usual colour.

    Hedgehog..
Hope all goes ok with mum today thinking of you all. You always seem very busy. Good luck at the dentist too..

    Dave..
Knowing you .. you will keep in contact with your more life ladies….
