My son got stuck in Birmingham last night, the train was cancelled and he’s booked on a train to Southampton today. He had to get a taxi home from Birmingham which cost him £90. It’s a disgrace. He’s on his way to Southampton now so hope he dosent need a taxi home from there or he’ll need a mortgage. The roofers said it should all be done by Monday. So I hope they are right. A sunny day today so it makes a change from all the rain.

    Day 25 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 🏹

I wasn’t exactly a weekend warrior yesterday – do we count Fridays as part of the weekend? – but I didn’t do too badly. I kept busy & felt more in control. And I’m nailing the steps – I’ve clocked up +32,000 in the last 3 days. Sitting less & keeping my hands busy is part of the solution for me. If I’m not sitting I’m not eating.

@stitchincarol – I’m also an ex-vegetarian. Didn’t touch meat or fish for most of the 90’s. I didn’t miss it at all, but my body & my doctor did not approve! And you’re right – I was completely baffled by @northgeorgia‘s post re his BP & changing seats! 😅

@merryapple – I don’t worry about saturated fats, but I try to stay away from all vegetable oils, especially the hydrogenated variety! Oh, I was out by 1 cm?! 🎯 Gorgeous weather here too, but I’m looking forward to Monday’s rain. I never uttered words like that when I lived in England! ☔️

My crazy cat yesterday, playing in her Christmas present. It’s a basket-shaped scratch pad. She loves it! I could watch her all day when she’s in a playful mood 😻 https://imgur.com/a/boo-boo-hoRmthN

Have a good weekend everyone 🌤🌈

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

The week has been a mixed bag. I have tried to eat breakfast and lunch at school, followed by a light snack and fruit in the late afternoon. Its had a big impact on my wallet as I am buying less food, but also less processed food.

My 3 measurements that I take are the same but I have noticed that my trousers are fitting better. The infamous walking trousers that I was desperate to wear to Australia are now very comfortable and loose around the thighs now.

My goal has been to shift the scales from the post Christmas numbers. In 4 weeks I have lost 2 lb, which is great because there is less of me despite Birthday as well as the festive goods. I am fasting this morning and because of eating early when I get home from work, I will have clocked up 19 hours fasting by lunchtime.

I do Pilates on a Monday and walk to and from the bus stop Monday to Friday, but I am planning on starting to lift some weights at home this week, just 10 minutes twice a day to see what impact that might have. I don’t want to be a frail old lady, so this seems like a good place to start.

    Day 25 NZ FD 69.9kg⬆️ 🏃🏼‍♀️

Really…? I felt like I had the moral high ground two days ago but last night lost it. I am now grovelling with myself to get back on track… Be💪
Beautiful weather here before a wet Pacific Ocean storm arrives from the north…
Interesting article @funshipfreddie. I clicked on the trans fat link and read up on natural vs industrial trans fats and their effect on raising LDL, the bad cholesterol. The jury was out on how much is OK in your diet.
One thing I would note is that you know you’re eating saturated fats when eating cheese but not when you’re eating doughnuts…
Natural is generated in the stomachs of ruminating animals ie sheep and cows. eg saturated fats in butter, milk and cheese.
Industrial is caused by the process of hydrogenating vegetable and fish oil using metal in order to turn it into a solid saturated fat eg margarine and used in commercial baking, deep fried stuff.
    https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/hydrogentated-oil
Just what you wanted to know!!!
@stitchincarol I want to feel hungry at the end of the day!!
    @funshipfreddie I’m 175cm having lost 2 inches in height…
You’re right! I need to focus and aim for my new maintenance goal of 65kg…

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good morning everyone,

Gday, hooray for the guidelines getting better about weight and health.

Ha re Trump, what a Dumpty he is. I laughed when someone online said that she had just realised that if he had won in 2020 it would all be over now, and so suddenly wishes he had.

Anzac, what a wild weather ride Sydney was on! I am glad it is easier now.
Fingers crossed for your job. I agree that unsuccessful candidates should be notified. Not doing so is dehumanising, as well as just so hard for practical reasons.

1.8kg gone is impressive! Are you feeling better already moving, wearing clothes etc.? I just love it at that stage.

An impressive 1kg gone for you too Neil! Is the cortisone doing its trick now? What a lovely gully. Yay for the Yahoo Serious reference.

I think I agree with you about the glucose goddess Thin, but I did realise that she is pretty irrelevant to me with my low sugar diet.

Well, best wishes for a good weekend everyone.
    Ciao

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good evening the wind is dying down now, I’ll still keep away from the trees though. My new watch as come so testing it out. I’ve cleaned everything off my old phone so will try and sell it. It’s in good condition and I tested it and all is working well. My son as gone to watch wrestling tonight in the Midlands, didn’t think her would get there but as made it. He gets home in the middle of the night then is going to Southampton tomorrow. Are one time he wouldn’t go to the corner shop now her goes all over.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Afternoon!
Dave- I must’ve missed Denise’s birthday, sorry! Just hope your roof has been okay with the storm today, & 🤞he can finish it soon!
Jean- good you’re enjoying the crocheting, hope coffee out today was good? Not long until the cruise then, hope SIL is feeling better…
Hemmy- well done with your pound off! Just a cheese toastie for me (although not now I’m keto 😂), can’t stand celery … Good the weather has been nice for you. Have invited the boys over the day after my birthday for a takeaway, not sorted anything with sis yet…
Nana- hope the second funeral goes okay 🤗
Lazy start for us, I seem to be sleeping later quite a bit now! Windy so didn’t do one of our usual forest walks, went round the estate here. Shopping done , a bit of cleaning & a workout, trying my HomeStart family again in a minute. Was another half a pound down, getting down slowly!
Have a good weekend everyone 🥰

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Good Afternoon everyone. Xxxx

Its amazing but its a decent day here.. blue sky and sunshine. Windy but not too bad.

I had lost a pound this morning since Monday so a good start .. I am not being too strict .. just cutting out sugar really.

A good walk .. then did a line full of hand washing…. Just had lunch used my new sandwich toaster .. As I am trying to be more varied .. I did a cheese onion and celery rather than my usual just cheese and onion .. it was OK lololol ,, will stick to tried and tested lolol

This evening its eggs beans and chips.

H H .. yours boys sound lovely a credit to you I am sure. .. Have you decided on your Birthday celebrations.

Dave.. So pleased for Denise she hasn’t got to worry about the jury service.. a
relief for her I bet. ..
Yes do the beef about 6 hrs on high.. it just falls apart I sprinkled 2 oxo cubes on it.. it was lovely ..

Sym… Did you enjoy your coffee and cake.. Always lovely meeting up with a friend.
Have you sorted what you are taking on the cruise….
    How is your SIL..

Hope everyone is having a good day.. Jan is a drab month after Christmas and awhile away from spring.

When you love what you have, you have everything you need. Xxxx

    Day 24 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 153.4

I feel as if my weight is a door, solidly closed. I keep slamming my shoulder against it, but never get through to 152. Soon…. 😂👍 Today is the next challenge in my ongoing battle with NFDs. We’re headed into Omaha so DH can visit someone in the hospital, and then we’re going out to a national chain steakhouse, using one of the many gift cards we got at Christmas. Low calories/reasonable nutrition will be a challenge there, so I’ll limit the calories I eat the rest of the day to no more than 350.

@merryapple You are exactly right, and I’m delighted you used the “joy” word. Few others in our group were much enamored of my “joyous” approach at the beginning of the month, but you’re right that, without joy and using negativity, we’re just setting ourselves up for failure. Because, in the end, it’s all a mind game to learn to control our eating impulses and to maintain what we lose.

@funshipfreddie I think I remember a time or two in the past when you’ve popped up a few pounds as a result of complacency on NFDs, and I find that VERY understandable. Give yourself some grace, and set a hard deadline of when you’ll abandon your complacency and return to the stellar eating choices you normally employ. Or, just pretend my kids are still little and are there, and set a good example for them! 😂

@jaifaim Whew! Glad you avoided damage. Strong winter storms can be so unpredictable and awful.

@northgeorgia Ahh, now I get it. I don’t think @funshipfreddie meant he didn’t understand why your machine behaved differently; he, like I, didn’t realize you meant that when you sat somewhere else, you got a different reading.

@brightonbelle I’ll put Bad Sisters down to watch next; I’m currently close to the end of S1 of The Resident. I’m fascinated that I don’t remember it from TV at all, but I truly appreciate being able to binge it now, and not sit through, or fast-forward through, commercials. Well done on inching down a little bit more! And, BTW, there is some evidence that, when you suddenly eat far more calories than normally, and then abruptly go back to what you’ve established as normal, while you have a corresponding uptick in your weight initially, those extra calories help you burn calories faster, and you end up losing because of them. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next week after loosening up a bit this weekend.

I’ve found a house that looks wonderful, but DH is reluctant to go that high. I think another house tour is in our immediate future, LOL. It’s lovely to have so much time before we MUST buy/move, as it makes the process so much more relaxed.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

Two quotes I’ll be remembering today: “Hunger is not an emergency” and “Hunger is God’s gift to us; enjoy it!”

    Day 24 UK CD

Slight drop on scales, so going in the right direction albeit very slowly , I’m aiming to relax things a little at the weekend but really don’t want to see the scales moving in the wrong direction so let’s see how it goes

When I had to monitor my BP I was advised to measure twice a day, same times and keep a log , I think it’s the trends that are important @northgeorgia

Weather OK here now @jaifaim , appears bad further north though – just finished season 1 Bad Sisters , very pleased with the ending Looking forward to s2

    155.2 ⬇️

Hi all! It’s been a historically stormy night here but no damage thankfully. Lots without power and we are still under orders not to go out and about… for another few hours…

I am in the same boat @funshipfreddie! My FDs are not as good as they used to be… so as you say as I get older I need to get better at this not worse.

Ok have been very distracted with storm reports so need to do some work here.

I hope all the gang in the UK are ok as it is hitting you now 🙏🙏.

HH it was Denise’s birthday a couple of weeks ago. No rain here yet but I don’t think the roofers will be round today. I can hear the wind coming down the chimney, don’t know how strong it is until I get out with Chloe. Hemmy I’ll do the beef much longer next time in the crockpot.Chicken stew tonight, might take Chloe out then have some porridge.Jean your very industrious making all the little creatures.Nana what you up to today. CC how you doing all well I hope.

    Day 24 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.7 kg

@stitchincarol – Well done for the PNFDS! 💪 I’m still committed to my FDs, at least. I think my problem is complacency. I’ve been successfully maintaining for so long that I go through spells of throwing caution to the wind on NFDs. But it catches up with me eventually, & will do so even more as I get older. So I just need to be more mindful, and to adopt a better NFD routine.

@merryapple – I think you’re right – two FDs per week is plenty! 😅 You must be quite tall? About 174 cm if your BMI is (a very healthy) 22.9? I think for the vast majority of people the BMI will always be a good guide to a healthy weight. It’s children & muscly athletes that it doesn’t work so well for. And when you reach your overall goal weight your 38″ waist will have shrunk a lot closer to 35″! 🎯

@northgeorgia – I didn’t understand your comment re your BP dropping significantly – ‘after I changed seats’? 🤔

    Day 24 NZ NFD 69.3kg⬇️🏃🏼‍♀️

Walked up the maunga then had coffee and 1/2 a cheese scone!! 1/2 is better than a whole one!!

@stitchincarol So what you’re trying to say is you need to set a good example to yourself now your children have grown up!!🤣 I try not to have snacks between meals when on my own and occasionally I’ll have a boiled egg for that 4pm low.
I do believe to make any changes, the process needs to be a joyful and positive one. Negativity sets you up to fail…
@northgeorgia Yes, as @stitchincarol recalls about what your mom said last year, getting her to join you would help you out too.
@funshipfreddie Remember, every day is a new day. You just need a reset rather than an extra FD.💪
@brightonbelle You’ll have a woosh soon if you stay with your programme, I’m sure!!
@jaifaim Yeah!! On the downhill!! I’m off to pick up my e-bike and find out what they do for ‘maintaining’ it… Will let you know. What fun!! Birthday parties galore!! Remember, Taste, don’t Eat!! 😅
@lilymartin Thank you, yes… it’s a much longer haul than I anticipated. You would have missed the the initial injury – compound displaced # of my little finger thanks to tripping and landing on my signet ring 4 1/2 months ago…
With all that exercise you’ll be regaining your waistline!!
I just measured mine apropos of @funshipfreddie’s Daily Mail cancer article… ie less than 35” is the safe zone for females. Mine is 38”. I have never had a wasp waist. BMI 22.9. Hmmm
    Have a good Friday everyone!!
    I’m thinking of @penz’ pizza and 🍷
    Great tennis on in Melbourne!!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Dave- glad your MOT was okay, hopefully they won’t need to ring you! Good Denise’s jury service is sorted, when’s her birthday? Hope you don’t get the storm tomorrow & your roof can get done soon!
Hemmy- good Pip is a smart boy again! I really notice how much sugar affects me- I get aches & pains back quickly! Glad the stew was good, keep up with protein & veg & the sugar cravings will go…
Jean- what have you been up to today? How long til the cruise? I’m sorry, I know you’ve said, I forget!
Couscous – how are you doing, I hope you are okay?
Been quite hungry today, had a dry walk with Xena, did a short workout, & we saw youngest son, he’s so chuffed to be officially in the fire service now, has decided he’s going to keep doing weekends on-call here through his training, said he’d be too bored otherwise! I don’t get bored…

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Done my visit to the doctor’s, they did all the usual tests and blood results should be available on Wednesday. I’ll not bother checking if they’re is anything wrong they will send for me. Denise as avoided doing jury service so she’s happy about that. Had our second wet walk of the day, funny when the weather is bad Chloe stops every few yards to have a sniff.

  • Joyous January

    Day 23 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD – 155.6

Today I’m feeling PNFDS…I truly pulled off my yesterday goal. I was RAVENOUS by four o’clock, so I pulled out the leftover roasted carrots from the night before, so technically I didn’t “not snack”…but I figured snacking on carrots was within the spirit of my pledge.

One of the things I keep thinking of is how, when my kids were little, I was so much thinner and ate fewer snacks because I was determined to teach my kid good eating habits. So we ate three meals a day (well, they did, I had two), and usually had a snack after school, and that was it. I was tempted to eat, of course, but couldn’t do so in front of them, so I had built-in control. They’d fuss at me an hour before supper at how hungry they were, and I’d assure them that was an excellent thing because then they’d be hungry for supper. So, I keep trying to find the will-power to eat as if my kids were little and were around me. It’s not super helpful, but perhaps I’ll slowly regain those habits.

@brightonbelle I’m truly in awe that you’re spending most of January limiting yourself to 800 calories. That is truly impressive, lady. And big celebration that your two years of treatments at the dentist are over!

@merryapple Delighted for you that your grip is improved by 5 degrees! I was raised with the approach that supper consisted of a meat, a starch, and a veggie. When I was a vegetarian for about 7 years (long story, am no longer), that approach to meals didn’t work at all, and I had to change my entire thought process to meal planning. And now, I fight to avoid the whole protein/carb/veggie approach, because I also find it beneficial to avoid carbs at night. I don’t always, by any means, but I love your reminder that having them earlier in the day is easier for our bodies to utilize and dispense with them.

@penz Yeah, humidity is tough to tolerate.

@lilymartin Just an FYI, the point of joy–at least as I presented it–is that, bottom line, we remember we’re CHOOSING this, and it’s not being forced on us, and there’s no need to feel sorry for ourselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️ And, I hear contentment/acceptance in all your words, so I think that counts for joy. And now, what I really wanted to say: you’ve always said you’re in the medical profession, but have gone no further, but I’m fascinated that we have a pediatrician in @excelsior12309 and an RN (and more?) in @merryapple, and you, whatever your exact role is. Willing to share what you “are”? And there’s no one else, is there? Or have I missed someone?

@jaifaim I’m sure you do want to drop a few more, but that day will come when the weather warms up and it’s easier for you to get out on your bike constantly. In the meantime, be vigilant about 155 since that in itself is a great success, and you’ll be well prepared for a three pound drop!

@funshipfreddie Isn’t it funny how we can be so truly committed, and then realize that, somewhere along the line, the commitment wandered away without us actually noticing? Perhaps your life feels a bit scattered at the moment, and once it settles down, your attitude will come back into solid compliance? No idea, obviously, but you are our poster boy for consistent RESOLVE, so I feel quite confident it will return for you.

@northgeorgia Did your mom ever say anything about her December plan to start eating better in January?

Okay, I’m off. Have a grand one, everyone!

Weigh-in: 238 lbs. OK, time to get away from all of these locked-in temptations at mom’s of sugary baked goods, chips, soft drinks, and other UPFs! Back to work; hopefully I won’t hit any major slick spots on the way in or back. Happy to finally get a FD, especially considering I was about 10 lbs lighter back in mid-December. I can do this, despite the stress and work lunches and dinners coming up (oh, and the major birthday thing on Sunday before the doctor visit on Tuesday…egads).

Oddly, my blood pressure’s top number went from 140 to 125 this morning after I changed seats. I’ll see what it does tomorrow. My next FD will definitely be Monday, and due to the doctor visit on Tuesday, I’m strongly considering a true WFD to reset everything within my power.

I really need a good FD today. My last three NFDs haven’t been at all controlled. Not exactly bingeing, but lots of pick-pick-picking. I think I need to schedule an extra FD soon to get back on track. You’re right, @stitchincarol, I’m not fully committed at present; I’m saying it without employing the RESOLVE – on NFDs at least.

@excelsior12309 – you’re right! Maybe not an agent, but an extra pair of hands & a 30 hour day would be great! 😅

@penz – it’s a mosaic picture, not a painting. Just something I found on Pinterest. I’m attempting to mosaic over it, but I haven’t done it before. If it turns out okay I’d love to make a mosaic of Boo Boo eventually 🐱

    155.9 ⬇️

Hi all! I’m facing into 5 tricky days so may the force be with me… I am off to work then meet friends for lunch and see a play tonight – I’m going to try plan little food around both. Then the next four days are birthday catch ups and travel. 🇬🇧 If the forecasted storm allows.

@merryapple well done on your grip! 👏⭐️ Best of luck with the service today… I know for me there comes a point with the bike maintenance where it all goes over my head… and I’ve done courses on this 😂😂 I’m sure there are many more components on the e-bike 🙏

@brightonbelle I’m so glad I’m not the only one… I feel like completely turning the predictive text off at this stage. You are doing really well on FD800 ⭐️ it then gives you leeway for the weekends which is good.

Thanks @stitchincarol yes I’m happy to be bobbing but would be ecstatic to drop…I think it just needs a little more focus. Well done to you on your WFD – still so difficult for me! Ah go on… wear the hat 👒 before your DH retires … go on, go on, go on 😂😂

Love the idea of the Red Hat Society @funshipfreddie – very much a wearer of colour here and will be more so as I age… thanks for posting that!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Thanks Neil – I’d posted twice with links since then. But the gremlins seem to be sorted.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

And now Ive read the posts about the Glucose Goddess. It’s hard to sort the wheat from the chaff regarding information, isn’t it? I don’t like the commercial stuff – but as Frank Sinatra once said, ‘a girl has to make a buck.’ (or something like that). So much of what she writes seems instinctively to be fine. So I guess follow those, not get caught up in the buying of products, and stick to what we know – Dr Mosely made a buck too ..millions, I’d hazard ..but we know what he researched and wrote was good and works. So that’s my way forward.

Trump. Oh dear. and Musk. Double oh dear. A country with such poor health leaving the WHO? California burning, but ‘drill baby drill’, like fossil fuels aren’t contributing to the problem? And the idea of the world’s richest man cutting programs that will inevitably affect some of the poorest? And freeing Jan 6 rioters who tried to kill police officers and wanted to hang Pence, Pelosi? I agree Gday. Buckle up!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Well this one showed up, I haven’t seen any more from you in my notifications after your post on the 14th.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Neil, are my posts coming through? Because they don’t appear to be, but maybe they are making it to your mail box. Can you post this link for me – it’s the Glucose Goddess’s new series. Yesterday I posted about her youtube channell…but zip.

  • Joyous January

Day 23 country west Australia FD500 (with RESOLVE!!) 83.1 kg 😱😱
Well after a very controlled day yesterday Cruella has been very very mean with an upward trend.
However this time I am RESOLVED ( not sure about joyful ??) to keep on the wagon and DETERMINED to stick with the 5:2 WOL.
Despite Cruella, I feel better and clothes fitting better so all good.
Have just done my 45 minute walk with Pilates class later. It’s already hot and humid and I will need a shower shortly.
@funshipfreddie, just one day ?? See how we miss you and what you are doing!😄
@northgeorgia, sending armloads of support and empathy from about as far away in the world you could get , except perhaps for the penguins in Antarctic. 🌻
@jaifaim, as a ‘wordie’ I just love ‘himpfay’ !! ❤️❤️ It did give me a laugh and sounds so much better than ‘ humpday’ , so I am going to adopt it, with your permission, and it could become next year’s word of the year ?? 🤔 And ,yes ,we too are having lots of issues with IOS updates . Grrrr……😡
@merryapple sorry to hear about your hand. It is usually a longgggg rehab for hand tendons. Keep up the good but hard work.🥵(. couldn’t find the sweating face emoji !!)
( You can always tell when I have a bit of time on my hands – lots of emojis!!)🙄
@brightonbelle, glad your dental journey is over! I’m with you on carbs. I never saw a carb I didn’t like… which is a bit problematic . RESOLVED to eat fewer carbs in January…🤔
Another hot one today 32ºC, it’s already 25.6ºC at 9 am.
41ºC tomorrow… keep cool folks – and happy day after himpfay.

    Day 23, CD, Aus

Remember muscle weighs more than fat @lilymartin – so if your clothes are fitting better and people are commenting on your toned body, you can safely throw Cruella de Scales out the window! And I hear you re the humidity. Canberra usually has a dry heat, but recently it’s been humid. I’ve lived in humid places before and I never acclimatised. Hate it!

@funshipfreddie, will your new cat painting use Boo-Boo as a model?

    Day 23 NZ FD 70kg 🏃🏼‍♀️⬆️

    Really??? RESOLVE 💪 and JOY
I’ve been to hand physio. My grip is better by 5 degrees as is straightening my wee pinky… I just have to keep at it. I did some gardening and got the weedeater out y’day – the first time in 4+ months…
Now I’m off to drop my e-bike in for a service before the traffic builds up.
My plan today is to stick to 500 cals this evening and mentally close off the kitchen… I’m a wee bit prone to eating more than this in case you hadn’t noticed ☺️
@jaifaim A downward trend is what counts… Go you!! Maybe I should tail the use of arrows too!!!
@brightonbelle I tend to keep carbs to breakfast and lunch time only and focus on protein and vegetables at dinner time… That way my theory is you get energy from and use up the rise in blood sugars from carbs. Then in the evening it’s all about focusing on protein for over night repair and restoration. As a carnivore I get fat with the proteins. Also others have commented that lots of carbs in the evening make them feel hungrier the following day. 😇
This strategy may be helpful for you????
Of course it all turns to custard when I go out drinking and eating with friends… Then I have @funshipfreddie in my ear and @ stitchincarol’s RESOLVE😅
@excelsior12309 I’m glad to hear you’re back on the wagon! Declare it and move forward… I’m sure in several days you’ll be heading downhill again😁
I have lots of hats of all types – cowboy, 1970s style big floppy brim, pith helmet, Panama etc plus caps and bucket hats for the sun. I🩷them all but my problem is wearing them in the wind 💨
Gosh!! Freezing dry cold vs wet ice and snow… Who knew…

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Gday, and Trump claimed that Americans were the first to split the atom, which is absolute rubbish, we all know it was Yahoo Serious who split a beer atom in his garden shed to make beer fizzy 😉

Just kidding, New Zealanders are particularly incensed by that claim, because the first person to split the atom was a New Zealander, Ernest Rutherford. He’s known as the father of the atomic age, he’s even on our money, his face is on our $100 bill.

    Evening All..

    Dave..
Well done on winning with Joe..you must be getting a lot better when you play such a lot. Are your knees holding up?

    Hemmy..

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Just did a long post and it’s vanished before I finished and hit submit- damn I hate this app (or whatever it’s called) sometimes. I can’t be bothered doing it all again so to cut a long story very short:

The Glucose Goddess is seen by her peers as nothing more than a marketing guru. Her research claims for her ‘way of eating’ were based on research she did on 11 people. I came across her many years ago and after researching her I never followed her or anything she said again.

Can somebody please stop Trump right now, the damage he has inflicted in just 2 days in office is absolutely frightening. It is so scary to think how far he will go. Has the world learnt nothing with Putin and how he has surrounded himself with yes men oligarchs. Trump has now done the same. Hold on people for a very scary ride. Political rant over.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Nana- thinking of you today 🤗
Dave- did you have the roofers? Well done with the bowling, & having a low day!
Jean- good the plumber came, hope you can get what you need & that he’s not too expensive…yes, very hard eating out on keto, it’s okay for meat eaters, but all the veggie meals are carby! But it’s not often…sis & I will be 56 this year.
Hemmy- well done getting back to healthier food, & being organised with the crock pot! Is it the same as a slow cooker? I always did hubby’s stews for about 8 hours on low, haven’t used ours for ages. Hope Pip’s trim went okay! Yes, sis & I are identical twins, we looked alike when we were little but not at all now. We usually see each other on the day, Mum likes to see us both.
    Couscous & Kay hope you’re doing okay…
Didn’t have anything on today which felt weird, had a damp walk, did some sewing jobs & ironing, bacon & eggs for dinner. My sister saw Mum today & helped her do a shopping order, the fridge was nearly empty, we wonder if she’s getting to the stage of forgetting to eat, she was confused with what time of day it was yesterday & couldn’t remember if she’d had lunch 😢

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Good afternoon everyone.. Xxxx

We had sun on our walk but its gone dull now.. Xx

Dave.. do you mean beef cubes or a joint? I do beef braising cubes for about 5 hrs on high. .. I like it when it just falls apart not chewy at all. I have done a whole joint as I like mine roasted in the oven.

Sym.. Yes.. I am going to raid my freezer.. use everything up and start again.. Must go through my food cupboards to..

Just off out to play with Pip .. then when we come in I will give him a little trim up. Not much as so cold but I like to keep him looking handsome. lol

Feel better today no sugar cravings as yet.

We can all do this together. Xxxx

    Day 22 UK f800

Yes I’m finding predictive text and alterations pretty annoying @jaifaim

Pleased to say my 2 year “journey “ at the dentist is complete 🎉 no appointments for 6 months

All of you that are having to cope with extreme weather – I feel for you , it’s just cold and grey here that I find my self drawn to booking trips away ✈️ roll on spring

I’m finding sticking to 800 cals relatively easy , the low carb but is the tricky bit , I’m trying but it’s not for me long term ,I’m still aiming for a good result by month end
    Happy 🐫day See you tomorrow

  • Joyous January

Day 22 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD with RESOLVE

I hosted August 2022 (23?) and the gist of my opening post as well as my progress throughout the month was “So, are you actually committing to this, or not? Are you saying it but not really meaning it? Or are you saying it and you’re actually employing RESOLVE?” I likened it to taking care of children, or doing your job, or a myriad of things that aren’t truly optional. That was the month that I started encouraging us to employ RESOLVE, and it was also the month that I began actual weight loss.

So, today I’m acknowledging that I haven’t really meant it up to now. In the back of my mind, while I was truly and fully committed to Tuesday and Thursday water fasting, I was also fully committed to eating “reasonably” on the other five days of the week…and my definition of “reasonably” was not at all reasonable.

And I can’t control tomorrow with today’s choices, but I can certainly control today. So, today, I choose JOY and RESOLVE. I will eat lunch. I will eat supper. I will not snack on the midweek children’s snack at church. I will not nibble on cheese and crackers while I’m cooking supper. Nor nuts of any kind. I will have one slice of Monday’s lemon curd cake. ONE. I will not attempt to make me cheerful through food. My total calories will not exceed 1500.

There. Got that off my chest.

    🤣

Oh, and my WF went fine yesterday and was nothing more than water. 😇

Oh, and I smiled at all the encouragement yesterday to wear hats, and realized I wasn’t clear in what I meant. I wear hats all the time, but they’re outdoor hats. I’m talking my lovely burgundy hat and my navy hat that are the type you’d wear with a lovely outfit and that I’d wear to church. There’s not been a single woman wearing a hat to church in all the almost-nineteen years we’ve been here, so it would take a great deal of courage and aplomb. Plus, I suspect it would distract and annoy me while playing the organ. But I think I’ll wear one soon. I’m looking forward to it!

@brightonbelle How was your dental appointment?

@ccco Lucky you, to have snow to scoop. We’re still waiting for our first snowfall, and the agriculture people are getting seriously concerned at the lack of snow cover.

@jaifaim Well done on getting back to 155…oops, not. But it WILL come, especially with the increased activity you’re reporting. That 152/153 may be eluding you, but it’s serious success to be hovering around your goal weight!

@northgeorgia Oh, a birthday party for your mom with 75 people is going to be grand fun–but I well understand why you had to be talked down from the ledge at the request to bring so much food during this stressful time. Deep breaths, and simply do the next thing, right?

@lilymartin Your heat sounds every bit as miserable as our cold! And I love your attitude that you WILL force Cruella to reflect your excellent behavior. It will happen; just you watch!

@merryapple Turns out most schools were either cancelled yesterday or had a late start. Hearing that made me pause and wonder if I should just cancel lessons. But it was fine, as my car heater works well 😂 and teaching lessons is an important element of succeeding at a WF. Plus, it wasn’t the least bit icy, so ’twas all good. Nonetheless, your summer heat sounds absolutely glorious, LOL!

@funshipfreddie Yep, the Red Hat Society was a big deal here in the States for quite awhile. I loved the comment in the article you posted about Melania’s hat standing in for the sunglasses she wouldn’t be wearing. I actually NEVER go outside without my prescription fifocal sunglasses, as I get nasty headaches if I don’t wear them, so I can sympathize with her that she apparently felt she had to, for that day, abandon them! And I’m giggling that you’ve teased @jaifaim about her humpday typo, compliments of her phone. And no need to cringe, @jaifaim, as we all know it’s your phone and not you! And how else would I have gotten such a good giggle???

@excelsior12309 Bummer on Cruella’s report this morning. With your RESOLVE, she WILL behave better soon! I too have a large head, as does DH and all three of our kids, so finding a hat that even fits is challenging, just as you said. Thus these two hats that I bought 36 years ago, have almost never worn, but refuse to get rid of because I love them so much.

@northgeorgia Ugh. I’d rather have our frigid temps than your ice. Stay safe!

Have I mentioned that my sister’s church in Monterey, California, has hired me to play an Ascension Hymn Fest as well as a Christmas recital? The Christmas recital is in 11 months, but I just found out yesterday that the Ascension Hymn Fest is not THIS May but NEXT May. Imagine my sister: “But, Carol, we’re over a year away from that, so why are you worrying already about which service we’ll do???” WHAT??!?!? 😂🤣😂🤣 That’s been a lovely part of DH’s retirement plan, that he’d do his last service on May 18, and then we’d hightail it to California and be there for almost two weeks. Guess we need to find a different location to hightail it to, LOL! I spent much of yesterday spinning at the dramatic rearrangement of our schedule!

    Day 22 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 237 lbs. My road closed due to ice. My brother barely got home at 4:30 yesterday as his truck turned sideways three times. Three hours later, state patrol shut the road down and we saw some people abandon cars and walk home. So working from home a bit. Hoping I can make tomorrow a FD.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

We lost the match but I played a bloke called Joe, I’ve played him 5 times before and he always wins but today I got done revenge.I won 21-4 I played really well. Cottage pie for tea not had any other food today so should be a low day

    Afternoon All..
Damp day but ok.. heating kicked in I didn’t think it was that cold.
Good walk not across the fields today too mucky..
Lazy day just made a pan full of veggies for the boy.. having a cuppa now.

    Hemmy..
Naughty daughter gave me a slim Xmas cake going cheap… nearly finished it lovely but heavy on the calories.
Eating out the freezer again it makes cheap food weeks. So much better than processed..

    Nana..
Funerals are not good, too many people going at our ages.. makes you think.

    Dave..
Good luck on the bowling.. too cold for me..

Good morning everyone the roofers said they will be here tomorrow.seeing is believing.Bowling at 12 today in a challenge match, it’s nippy only 4°C so difficult to bowl well. Or that’s my excuse 😂.Hemmy how long do you do beef in the crockpot? The beef I did was very chewy did it on high for 3 hours.Tasted ok but could have repaired my shoes with it. A storm coming on Friday so baton the hatches.

  • Joyous January

    Day 22-No. VA USA-FD

Oooh it was not a pretty sight on the scale this morning. I have fallen off the wagon and started rolling away over the past week. Scrambling back on as fast as my old joints will allow!
@penz, I think your blowing of the hot air from oz to here may be working. Tomorrow, the morning temperature is supposed to be 20 degrees higher than today. So, instead of 10 degrees, it will be 30!
@lilymartin, it sounds as if you are doing well, and it is good to have you back!
@funshipfreddie, it sounds like you will soon need an agent to manage all your commissions!
@merryapple, I was glad to see that you have strengthened your hand and fingers through all your hard work. Once tendons contract, it is so hard to get them to loosen up.
@jaifaim, I am going to try to model my behavior after you, when it comes to eating. The biking part, however, is a no-go! With respect to wearing hats, I have a VERY big head and it is hard for me to find a comfortable hat, even knit ones feel snug, which I dislike, so I almost never wear them.
@stitchincarol, I am sympathetic to your freezing weather. Thank goodness your church is not too far from your house!
@northgeorgia, I hope you are feeling better after your shot. Sounds like you have a good deal of stress happening. I have been in the situation of people throwing a get-together that suddenly becomes a non-voluntary pot-luck dinner….annoying.
Well, I am beginning the day with determination! Strength to any fasters out there!

Good morning F B Brit friends Xxxx

Its a dark cold day here today so will need warm walking clothes.

Busy day yesterday . did a big shop which will last me till next weekend when Kristy comes.

Ohh I was soo amazed at the bill .. so much less not buying any wine or rubbish food. I just have to cook healthy now lol. Croc pot on this morning before walking. Mince and veggies for healthy cottage pies.

Nana Ohh alwysso very sad saying goodbye to family or friends. Xx

Dave .. lots of sport on the go for you… will keep you on track re eating.

H H .. Do you and your sis always celebrate your birthday together .. Are you identical twins.
