  • I did 5:2 diet since 2015 and in the first 2 months I lost about 8 kg. I kept 5:2 diet for a year. After one year, my weight started to climbing back. It is very frustrating. I stopped it. Now, I want to start it again. I don’t eat anything during the day, only drink coffee or tea. I have small dinner in the evening. Is this ok? I am 58 years old. I hope I can get advice.

    Hi

On FDs I drink cups of tea through the day and just have a lowish calorie meal in the evening. This works for me. To avoid regaining weight once I got to goal I did find it was necessary to keep doing 2 FDs each week. In maintenance that allowed me a few more options on my NFDs. As I am an older, short, female my TDEE is quite low, so keeping the FDs in maintenance makes life easier.

    Hi Joyce
Thank you for your help. I started again and will do the same on the FD. Hopefully, it will work

I have maintained on 16:8 every day. I’ve found it fairly easy, giving myself a 3lb wriggle room. This means that if I go out to eat with friend I don’t fuss about what I eat, but make allowances for any indulgence the following day.
