Day 14 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 NFD.
Yesterday’s fast day went well. I still find the fasting days easier than the non fasting days.
I always end up with a poor night’s sleep after the fast day. You would think my body would be used to them by now.

Day 14, Belfast, FD
Toast, toast, toast 😉 I need to STOP eating it. My brother unfortunately was recently diagnosed with coeliac disease related to his diabetes – but 2 stone has just dropped off him. He can see the silver lining on this cloud. A lot more healthy choices being made.
@brightonbelle – joining others in hoping your sister gets through her treatment.
@coda – good luck with your recuperation
@debster251 @annemarilyn @awilson – I haven’t tried the Thai noodles yet but they’re are defo on the menu soon. As Waitrose isn’t in Northern Ireland I think just a general Thai spice blend should do the trick. The egg sounds just sooooo lush!
I’ve started a Pocketeers List for today…

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE TODAY!!
Norway, Day 14, FD, 2nd post
@coda Well, yes, I usually get along very well with my MIL, but after we got children she comes with a lot of (outdated and uncalled for) advice, which I am not suuuper keen about. But she is not around that much so it is OK, I just play along and do my thing. I do not think this will change when she hear about the official status of our relationship. I think that she will be happy for us. But you never know, I will keep you posted on the reaction 🙂
Had a greens only salad for lunch, feel good. Tonight I have a parents meeting in the kindergarden, hope there are not too many temptations, but I fear there will be. But with the platau and all I think I actually will be fine with just coffee. The platau kind of motivates me to beat it =D
Day 14…. Florida…..CD
Things are slowly returning back to normal. The hubby and kid got the pool unclogged and I got back into my flylady system. It’s so nice to have things back in order!
One major thing, I have noticed is I feel tired and sluggish. I really want to blame the tail spin that we were in but the more I think about it, the more I’ve come to the realization that it’s because my diet is crazy. I haven’t fasted in over a week! It’s has caught up with me.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to get it reigned in in the next couple days…… not hopefully, it is a big ole must!
@mari84….. I got a lot of unsolicited advice when my babies were born. Some of it I used cuz it made sense when I was ready to throw in the towel. Some of it, just the dumbest things, that were dumb. My wonderful sister gave me some wonderful advice twice 1st was when they were little. It takes a village to raise a child but in the end you are the only person that is your child’s advocate, so always do what you feel is right for child and screw everyone else! Then the second piece came when they were about three and in the midst of full blown terrible twos…… this too shall pass but make yourself feel better by looking around because your going to see a child worse than yours! God would have never given you anything you coukdnt handle or would not be good at. Being married or in an official relationship doesn’t make you a better parent just means you officially have help. Stay true to yourself and you’ll raise children who will be true to themselves!
Okay, we’ll work is a calling….
My husband told me to stop acting like a flamingo, so I had to put my foot down!
Day 14- Colorado, USA– (23:1 800- calorie NFD)
@coda – loved that Big Hug you sent to those needing it. So cute!
Sending you wishes for a smooth & quick recovery!
@keetseel – do those timer locked food containers lead to wearing the French maid outfit? You’ll know you’ve hit goal when the corset laces!?! 😂🤣
@annemarilyn – yes, my 4-day liquid Fast did have calories. I especially find bouillon (7 cals) & miso soup (35 cals) to be helpful. Their sodium keeps FD headaches away & the hot soup feels more like food!
The best result I found (besides finally knocking me off Plateau Mtn!) is after 4 days, my stomach seems smaller. It’s easier to stop eating when I’ve had “enough.”
Normally, I’m a certified member of the Clean Plate Club. Mopping up every morsel of food in front of me. These longer Fasts really help me break free of that mind-set & stop when “comfortably full.”
Day 14 – Reykjavik – FD
After two CFD on Tuesday and Wednesday I can feel that this FD today will be somewhat more difficult than usual. I´m began feeling hungry well before lunch when I usually don´t until in the afternoon. But I´m determined to hold it out.
I´ve been very pleased with my diet so far this week, as I started a vegan diet on NFD this week and thus changing them to CFD, and it´s surprisingly tasty and leaves me with a good feeling in the body. Also I have increased water consumption at work.
Yesterday evening when I took a 4K walk after dinner I even felt like my senses were heightened. It was a really great feeling with a clear mind and constructive thoughts. It´s like my stress level had gone down a level or two. I feel now like the 5:2 program is kicking in for me and I hope it will show on the scale at the halfway line, the 2 week’s measurement, on Saturday morning.
Good luck to you all.

Day 14, Mountaintop PA USA, NFD
Back from my travels to four of the western national parks with DH and our children and grandchildren. We travelled over 4,000 miles in our rental car from San Francisco to Denver with the parks in between. We enjoyed daily hikes on non travel days, delicious healthy meals and I am thrilled to report that there was no weight gain with no FD’s for the past month. The Fast 5:2 set me up to enjoy smaller portions and satisfaction with Mediterranean whole foods. Vegetables, fruit, yogurt, nuts, grilled meats and a minimum of processed carbs and sugar is the key for me.
Back to gardening, golfing, hiking my mountain trail. Living out of a suitcase for a month was doable but nice to be home again. Autumn is fast approaching in PA with cool nights and days. I am hoping for more sunshine.
I will continue with 2 fast days a week for now, but I am at my lowest weight in 50 years so we shall see. Once you get in the rhythm of Fast 5:2 it gets easier and easier. Good luck to all on this journey.
@bert1802 – been thinking of you a lot lol as I balance on one foot your ending always comes to mind 🤣
@stevetoontaxidriver – chocolate coin? I want to know what you did lol
Down to a new low this AM after 3 btb fast days. The scale is a wild ride but this diet has taken a lot of its power away. I felt a little down the other day thinking a lot was not happening with my weight loss so I went and measured my waist and sure enough it had not budged. I then went to check on my other measurements and realized, when I had taken measurements last month, that I had indeed dropped an inch around my waist! Couldn’t believe it. It made me happy. If you are new to this diet make sure you measure your progress! Also this is a fun tool as you can see yourself shrinking on a screen.

Day 14 – USA – NFD
Great FD yesterday, 482 cals. Planning is key for me. @maayyaa, sorry to hear about the downsizings; I went through that in 2009 when my law firm laid off 29 people in 1 day. @brightonbelle, hope your sister’s health improves. @johnnyr, I’ve done that on FDs before, but know that if you drive, the alcohol hits you much more directly if you don’t eat as well. Just sayin. @coda, hope you feel better soon. @steffieagle, welcome back and glad to hear of your success. I did my DNA and the results came back; I found out I was a mutt from all over the world. Someone was having a great time way back when, lol!
Day 24, Gozo Malta, cd
Weight today at 67 kilos no progress from last week and up by 0.3 kilos. All this after three fast days. I’m happy with my weight for now though as I’m already a healthy bmi. I’d like to go down 4 or 3 kilos more to reach my target weight.
Today is a cd of around 1,000 calories. Tomorrow I’m eating out with two of my sisters in law as one of them has her birthday soon.
Coda take care of that foot and have patience to recuperate slowly.
Have a great Thursday everyone. Onwards and downwards
Day 14, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD
Off to my annual physical in about an hour. So fasting and not drinking. Up since 5:30 am because my DH’s alarm goes off then (luckily with Grieg’s ‘Morning’ which makes me smile 😊 every time). Sitting around trying to keep busy and not thinking of the coffee in the kitchen. No food in the morning, no problem but no coffee…..☕☕☕😄😉😄
Have a good Thursday everyone! 😊😊😊
Day 14 – McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
I have to run into Portland today so it will be a NFD with Controlled Eating!!
@flourbaby & @bigviking – I love your sense of humor, it’s probably best we are oceans apart or we could cause some real trouble. 😉 BigViking, I live in the Willamette Valley which has more than 500 wineries. We are best known for our Pinot Noir and it’s available within arms reach. I’m dreaming of a really good Pinot on Oct. 1st. (Me desperate, not at all) 😇
@maayyaa – So stressful, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
@steffieagle – Good job on maintaining while on vacation!!
Day 14–ABQ—FD
I have to work a public meeting tonight, so was on the fence about fasting. But I believe I can do this, if I eat a little right before.
FlourBaby—Those are good rules. Unfortunately I’m living with someone who needs desperately to gain weight, so we do have to have some high-carb, high-calorie food in the house. I’d like to borrow your “kitchen closed at 7:30” rule, though, if you don’t mind.
JohnnyR—Love your math. 3 beers=food. I guess it makes sense, if a pint of beer is 200 calories then 3 is equivalent to a modest dinner.
HappyMargo—Those items together do seem to tell a rather risque story, don’t they?

Day 14 – USA (UT visiting DD) – NFD
Doing fine. Am going to try another Silver Sneakers class at a different gym this morning. My plan is to do a little shopping before, then start a new book. I finished Ken Follett’s “Dangerous Fortune” yesterday. I love how he ties up all the loose ends – good and bad guys each get their just rewards! I just see now they made it into a movie … wonder if I can get it somehow?
@annemarilyn – one of my stops today will be to find SF dark chocolate at Trader Joe’s and find a few other things there. The closest TD’s to me in Illinois is almost 2 hours away, so I shop when here visiting DD.
@steffieagle – glad you were able to have such a successful vacation on all counts!
@coda – yes, flamingos and you, both glorious birds (sorta like SongBirds…. ha ha!) prayers for you to manage as you heal.
@redrockgirl302 – your mention of Grieg’s “Morning” made me smile too. Hope your physical has gone well.
Onward and downward!
@coda. Ha ha too much temptation. I had my first pizza this year with a couple of cans of beer on Sunday while I was watching the toon aka Newcastle United.
I seem to Bounce between 182lb and 187lb within my week. I’m quite happy the way the diet went and I’ve been a goal for 6 weeks now even with at Starbucks gold chocolate coin lol.
An afternoon-check-in 😊
In 2015 my company started downsizing world wide. I my building we were about 2000people… now, after today, we will be just above 600 left. And I’m still in 😊😊😊 I am so happy, i really really didnt want to lose my job. In my “corridore”,/closest colleagues, we lost 4 today. 70 in total.
Thank you to everybody for thought and wishes and crossed fingers, i survived 😊 So today i’ll be celebrating at Mother India restaurant. Best indian food ever.
I live in a town very south, Kristiansand. Maybe this is where your ex husband lives? South Coast of Norway.
@mari84 thank you for sending me your Miso, looking forward to tasting it, maybe it will arrive before the weekend. Oops gotta go, to eat some idianfood.. saved my kcals for this.
Norway, day 14, FD 3rd (?) post
@bert1802 I have never received so much unsolicited advice as when I was pregnant and had my two boys. Like, from complete strangers! Some advice are really good, so I usually listen and think before I brush it off, but a lot is just…wrong/off/stupid. I am confident in my parenting (most of the time), and I see that my 3yo is a really polite and pleasant little man, and I know we are doing a lot right 🙂
@maayyaa Yay, happy for you! I hope they won’t downsize anymore now… you should have the Miso by Friday. I hope.
My MIL was happy for us 🙂 Yay! 🙂
I am really hungry this evening, and I have a head ache. Drinking water and hoping to get into bed soon. Friday and girls night tomorrow ❤️
Day 14, back home! – FD
Hello all. We got home yesterday to find everything safe and intact. *phew* (We’d managed to evacuate last Thurs in a long long day driving north.) Thank you all so much for your thoughts and well wishes – what an amazing supportive community this is! I was quite selfish – glued to The Weather Channel and the news, when I should have logged on to let you know my family and I were ok. And so glad to hear you (and your eggplants!!) are safe Bert1802 and finally got the power back on. Great news, tho of course many others in Florida (and Texas) have not been so fortunate.
Speaking of people missing in action, anyone heard from FatRabbit?
FD for me today, after nearly a week of bad eating living out of temp accommodation. Back on track now!
Congrats Maria84 on coming out with your ‘secret’ marriage. What a thrill! If I were your family members, I’d see this as another excuse to have a party to celebrate! And great news re your MIL.
HappyMargo – I’m also a member of the Clean Plate Club. I just can’t seem to leave food behind, even when I am absolutely stuffed! So far, 5:2 has not broken me of that habit.
What a relief, Maayya, to still have a job!
And almost half way through the month and look at those Dry-Winos go!! Keep it up, you’re on the home stretch now.
Day 14 – Cumbria UK – FD (700cals)
Today was not meant to be a FD (more calories than my usual FD but it came to less than 1/2 my TDEE) but that’s how it worked out – went out for lunch with DD and had a light lunch and not feeling very hungry tonight so decided to listen to my body and not to eat anything more tonight…….
@johnnyr and @keetseel – I think of willpower more as a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets 😉
@brightonbelle – thinking of you and your sister 🤗
@mema02 – Wow loving how the WOL is making you feel
@melf123 – enjoy your holiday
@maayyaa – Glad to hear that your job was safe. Hoping this encourages you “When you get stuck on a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of “rehearsal” for maintenance isn’t the worst thing in the world”
@bert1802 – house and garden are getting back in order so will you with regards to fasting – you know it!
@steffieagle – what a fabulous time you had and to top it all maintaining during this whole time – how wonderful is this WOL 💃
@snowflake56 – (((HUGS)))
@mari84 – Good to hear that telling the family that you are married turned out well all round…….
OH is back home from his evening training run and has just hoovered his meal whilst I was on line reading post and writing mine so no danger in making me want to eat – Thank you all for getting me over this hurdle!!!!!!!!!
For anyone struggling at the moment “Be gentle with yourself you’re doing the best you can”
@penz — YEAH! So glad all is safe with you and your place!
@mari84 — congratulations on all the good news for you and your family. What a relief.
@maayyaa — so glad you’re still on that same job. Looking for work can be ever so stressful.
@annemarilyn — it took asking a store worker where the SF chocolate was. Boy howdy… I had no idea how much chocolate TD sells, looking above every frozen food in the place. It was at the checkout lane. Bought 2 on the hopes I can get them home! 🙂
Making today a very CD myself as I just now broke my overnight fast.
2nd post
@penz – good to hear from you and that all is well with you and your home 🤗 btw @fatrabbit is taking a break from the challenges – she stepped out mid August……..
@bigviking @awilson @flourbaby @jessyoursize @happymargo – You guys have got this Dry September, nearly 1/2 way there!! stay strong! and @bigviking I believe this was your idea……😇
Day 14, Mountaintop PA, Second Post
Thank you all, @metatauta, @awilson, @songbirdme, and @at for your supportive comments on my maintaining while on vacation. The whole time I just continued my regular program but not “fasting” like I do at home. It really is true that this WOE/WOL works if you follow the Fast 5:2 protocol. For those on what they call “plateaus” just remember that the healthy life style choices are every day and our bodies will stabilize at the point where it is right for each individual.
Day 14 North Wales FD
Posted yesterday that today would be a NFD but managed to turn it into a FD. Usually I eat in the evening but today I ate at breakfast and lunch. Really pleased to turn it into a FD as I love the fact that I can eat within reason at a weekend.
@steve toon taxi driver I too sleep worse after a fast day. I too don’t know why.
@johnnyr I would eat so much after drinking three beers on an empty stomach 😳 Several alcoholic drinks always makes me want to eat. 😂
@bert1802 so glad you are getting things back in order after what must have been a very difficult time.
@maayyaa I am so glad you survived the downsizing.
ONWARDS AND DOWNWARDS 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Day 15 Australia NFD
Can I just say hooray! 69.9kg today! Very happy to back under 70kg, just! 5 fast days this month = 1 Kg lost. That is on track for me. Now just need to keep it going…at least until the end of Sept. I would like to do Oct and Nov too but that is too many fast days to think about at once. One day at a time and we’ll get there. Happy Friday and weekend people!
Day 14 UK 2nd of B2B FD
Second fast day and went well. Only had green salad and home made veg soup so well under 500 calories.
Have caught up on all the posts and love reading everyone’s experiences both on 5:2 and life in general. What a great forum this is full of international support, both for happy and sad events, fun comments, hints and inspirational quotes.
So happy to be a part of this!

Day 15 | Sydney, Australia | FD
Well the past 4 weeks has been a mixed bag.
Not one successful fasting day. Not a lot of sessions at the gym. But my weight is still exactly where it was 4 weeks ago (having lost the couple of kilos I gained overseas).
And this past week I’ve had the nasty flu which has been going around – colds and flu usually drive me to comfort food and I gain weight.
I’ve not actually been making a conscious effort to eat less, but I feel like the habits I’ve picked up from fasting have been enormously helpful. Still overeating at times and eating junk food, but making more sensible food choices a lot as well.
So it’s 3:37 pm now and I’ve had some tomato and capsicum soup, 178 calories, so far today. I have broccoli and some other vegetables at home for tonight.
One more post on Day 14 –
@penz – good to hear you fared well through Irma. I’m glad you got out of the area in time.
@songbirdme – Yay you found the chocolate!
@maayyaa – glad you survived the cut at work! My ex lives in Arendal and commutes to your town for work actually. Small world.
Made an avocado chicken salad for supper. Yum! Think I stayed in my 800 limits for the day.
Norway, Day 15, NFD
Happy to have an NFD, but I hope to stay away from snacks and chocolate. Not sure if I have the strength though. I know there is a biiiig bag of chocolate waiting for me at home.
Lost 0.5 kg from yesterdays FD, but I expect it to come back with just eating food today. So that is two weeks of not changing weight at all. But I know this WOL is good for me, and that it will come off sooner or later. I do think my NFDs is the sinner, I need to count more calories to be sure I stay under my TDEE.
I hope everyone have a great day and a lovely weekend!
DAY 15 – UK – FD
Mindful eating went well yesterday and after a good nights sleep decided to try a fast to-day – 3rd for the week. My fasts up ’til now have been around 800 cals. I have decided this is not good enough, until I have lost my weight, so will try to stick to 500 cals from now on. I haven’t lost much weight yet this month, so need to be more mindful. It is soooo easy to eat that little extra thinking it’s only a mouthful or so and it all helps to increase the cal. intake (like the bag of Wotsits and then peanuts I ate yesterday! – and I still considered it a good nfd day!!) So 3 – strict 500 fasts a week for me from now on, and up to 1300 on nfd’s until I get to maintenance. (which I am determined to do)
Mari84 – you’r right nfd’s are a sinner – you really have to control the day as well
and not go over your tdee – it can be the reason we don’t lose weight.(My Wotsits and peanuts didn’t help yesterday!) Keep going – it will come off eventually – don’t do what I did and “give up” through frustration – I ended up putting 7lbs on after a 9lb. loss. So here I am again but more determined this time.
