Day 11 McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
FD yesterday went well. I’m going to have a CD today.
The direction of the wind has saved us from smokey air but most of the fires in Oregon are still out of control.
@bert1802 – So glad to hear you and yours are safe, the mess can be fixed.
Day 11(keep getting the date wrong!) FD-Uk
Thanks for your supportive words @debster251. Your right it is a lifestyle. I have made it through. I was so busy with the kids didn’t have time to think about food never mind eat it! So finishing on 525. V happy with that. Together we are stronger. X
Day 11 – SW WA USA – FD
Kept the weekend fairly controlled. I did enjoy a caprese gluten free waffle with bacon in it at the Farmers’ Market. Now for M – Th FDs. Liquid today. Will weigh Friday again.
BTW, we had a little rain, which I definitely celebrated. Sun is shining today, sky is blue & it’s heating back up. Our big fire is still going but slightly more contained.
@mari84 – Yay, your secret is out & you had a great party! I hope your families are delighted with the news.
@liathanail – you’ll be going from the UK to Germany for work every week? Sounds like quite an undertaking.
@happymargo – good for you for the downward bump Weightwise!
@bert1802 – glad you’re okay and that even your eggplant survived Irma

@bigviking, Ha ha I’m with you, I’ll send money to Go Sober before I’ll sign up for another dry month. :-/
@bigviking and @awilson — staying strong on my September Dry-Wino pledge.
But I’ll do cartwheels off the sober-wagon in October. There’s some amazing local micro-brewery seasonal craft beers to enjoy for autumn!
Day 12 NFD country West Australia
Yesterday’s FD was a really good one keeping under 300 calories – finally!!!
Had liquid only until 8pm when the headache monster starting exercising it’s muscles so I ate 3 strawberries, an apple and 15 gms chicken breast.
The key to success yesterday was hydrate! hydrate! hydrate!!!
Woke this morning with the lightest vestige of a headache but generally very well.
Trying to get back to controlled NFDs as I have been on a carbfest for a few weeks now.
Hoping to read some of the posts later today when I’ll have time to draw breath for the first time in weeks.
@basyjames, I tried to input stats for past week but kept getting message to join up to a google account. What am I doing wrong?
Thoughts to all those across the world coping with fires floods famines and other natural disasters.
We might not mention it but we ARE thinking of you. Stay safe, stay strong 🙏🙂
Day 2 NZ NFD
Had a fast day yesterday which sorry if TMI but monthly arrived and I am a wicked chocoholic during that time so YAHHH go me – I didn’t crave in and went to bed on 466 cal for the day – so ill take that 🙂
Thank you @happymargo, @debster251, @coda and @at for your welcoming words and encouragement – greatly appreciated.
Do I get added to the spreadsheet or do I add myself
Day 12, Norway, NFD
I did check in late last night, but the post is gone 🙁
Well it was a successfull FD, i will do the real calculation on kcal in a few minutes…but it should be below or right around 500kcals.
I’ve been stuck on a platau since my lowest at the end of august (88.8). Im joining you on your platau @mari84. Well, hopefully i will jump of it soon, this is not too much motivating…well, at least im not gaining, i have to see that as a motivator too. I was down to my lowest today, after my controlled week end and successful CD. My OH has jumped into this WOL all by him self, just because he saw me lose 6kg in august….but he is cranky on FD’s!!! He is “addicted” to Coca Cola…but really try to drink diet coke instead, but he need at least 1-2 glasses a day :(… oh well, it is MUCH better than how he used to eat and drink coke.
Still havent broken my fast… started sunday at around 8pm…. nothing until 4.30 yesterday, and im not gonna eat until 10.30 🙂
Day 12 – Nuremberg, Germany – FD
No weigh in today.
So yesterday’s fast day whilst travelling was fine. Had a small pasta meal at lunch time before I went to the airport. Managed to avoid the free wine and food in the BA lounge and just had a coffee. The real temptation was coming through the duty free shop at 9pm to find my flight from Berlin to Nuremberg was delayed by an hour. The initial plan was to get on the flight and sleep and then go straight to the hotel and to bed. Managed to retain enough willpower to swerve the chocolate though and eventually got to bed about 00:30.
@annemarilyn – yup, I’m commuting between Woking and Nuremberg for a while. Out on a Monday afternoon/evening and back on Thursday afternoon/evening. No direct flights so out via Berlin and back via the train to Frankfurt.
Going to try my first back to back today. I have an apartment hotel so can cook for myself which makes things easier.
Norway, Day 12, NFD
I was very tempted to just quit my FD yesterday, several times, especially when the results from the election came, I am very disappointed of the results! Anyway, I managed to leave potatochips and sour cream be just that and not touch it, yay to me!
@happymargo @debster251 and @annemarilyn thank you, I hope they will be happy for us too, and not disappointed. I am planning on telling my dad tomorrow… Told my younger brother today, he asked me if I was drunk, haha! =D
Hoping for a semi-CD today, I was yet again under 90 kg today, hoping to see the lowest Aug-number on the scale by the end of the week. If not I think I will try 4:3 next week and see if that helps kick it off a bit. @maayyaa we can help each other hop off the platau 🙂 I am sending the miso today btw, things have been crazy, so I haven’t managed to do it before now.
Tired and a heavy head today, stayed up too late with the election and had a 3yearold that kept me awake for couple of hours around 3, so there’s that.
Onwards and downwards (I hope)!
Hope everyone in Florida is ok!
Day 12, Emden Germany, NFD
@jessyoursize hope you’re feeling better today, take care!
Day 12 Chester UK NFD
Yesterday’s FD came in just under 500 cals, had a big bowl of soup for tea and a slice of toast. Only ate half the toast while my oh had soup with a small baguette. His looked much more appetising than mine, but onwards and downwards. I have to keep going – I ordered some shorts online last night as we have a holiday in November and there aren’t any in the shops. I thought I ordered size 18 I but the email says size 16 so that’ll be interesting. Last time I fitted into a 16 was about 15 years ago after I’d lost 5 stones doing Atkins.
@Liathanall, respect to you for doing this while away from home.
Keep going fellow fasters. If you’re feeling tempted, just drop in here, it works.
Day 12 Belfast CD/FD 🐢🍷🗡💪16:8.
I usually fast on Monday and Thursday, but this week I’ve been invited to stay at my son’s new house so I’ll fast on Wed instead. For those of you who don’t know me from previous months YS bought his first house with his girlfriend and they moved in 6 weeks ago. OH and I have been invited down for a couple of days. From a laid back, come easy go easy teenager and into his twenties, he has spent the last 6 weeks beavering away to get the house shipshape. How times change! He is so proud of it all and I can’t wait to see all the work he has done. Just got word today too that his brother is moving to Dublin too to be with his girl. I’m so pleased for them both, and they are so happy.
@keetseel – When we were in Canada we had poutine for the first and really enjoyed it. Our local chippy does a variety of different variations – cheesy chips with gravy/curry sauce/onions – not a healthy option for sure, but so lovely!
@tenoro – just press that reset button!
@tlc2 – I just love Strictly!
@bigviking – thank you for the link. Food for thought!
@bellyblast – I’m with you on that light feeling. To me it is a feeling of success.
@annemarilyn/Liathanail – I too was struck with the huge commuting distances. Out of curiosity, Liathanail, what do you do for a living? @mari84 you travel big distances too don’t you? I take my hat 🎩 off to you both. It must be hard to keep ‘normality ‘ at home, especially with little children.
My weight this morning is the same as at the beginning of the month ☹️ despite being pretty good this month. I’m looking at all those B2b2Bers and I’ve decided to mix up my routine. Yesterday came in under 500 cals, today I’m aiming for 800 and tomorrow back to 500 cals. I’m still chasing that ’10 stone something’ watershed. I’ve been there a few times but can’t seem to stay there. No one said it would be easy!
Waiting for a post from @penz, as I’m sure we all are. Good luck with the clearing up @bert1802. Our thoughts are with you.
Onwards and downwards
2nd post
I work for a Market Research company but what I actually do is process redesign and reengineering. So short version is that I look at how we do things in various parts of the business and try to find a better/faster/cheaper way to get the same or better results.
My company was bought out earlier this year so we have a big change and transformation program going on at the moment – hence the commuting to head office whilst we get it set up and running.
The weekly commuting should only be for the next 2-3 months, then once we are in implementation I’ll be travelling to more varied places (likely I’ll be splitting my time between London, New York and Nuremberg).
Luckily I don’t have kids (never felt the urge to be a mum) so that makes life easier.
Day 12, Belfast, FD
Yesterday’s FD turned into a NFD. I caved in at lunchtime and had a cheese toastie. With salad, though lol! but I hope to have kept the calories low as for dinner I made a lovely quick Asian broth, with broccoli, sweetcorn and sugar snaps. Handful of noodles and some shredded roast chicken. Really lush – Bill Granger recipe. Must calculate the kcals as this could be a new addition to the diet dinner recipes.
Hope to be more disciplined today 😉
Good luck everyone.
Day 12 – France – NFD
Felt good after my 24h fast yesterday and slept better after a 400 cal dinner. Terrible sicky headache today though, don’t know if it’s related.
@bert and @penz, hope you’re both ok – hugs to both
@keetseel and @debster I’ve never tried poutine but it sounds yum. Why are most comfort foods naughty? Well @belfastsink your Asian broth sounds tasty (maybe not comfort food though). Will have to make a list of ‘good’ comfort food recipes for the cold months ahead (blimmin’ freezing here today in fact). So far I can only think of veggie gratin.
Hope you all have a fab day.
Norway, Day 12, NFD, 2nd post.
@debster251 no I only have a 20 minute drive to go to work on daily basis, but I have travels from time to time. It was Germany last week and I have a trip to Paris in October. My boss wanted to send me to Indonesia for two weeks but I declined. I have a long trip to Sydney, Australia in November (private, going to a friend’s wedding), and I don’t want to be that much away from the children, they are too little. I think the travels will increase in frequency in the coming years, so that will be hard. But also good to get away from time to time as well I guess. And I can fill up the wine rack from the tax free shop (alcohol is reeeeally expensive in Norway).
I ate too much for lunch. Not sure if it was a huge amount of food or my stomack being small from the fast yesterday. Oh well.
Day 12 – UK – FD
O dear, why O why am I so good during the week and so out of control at the weekend. It gets harder each week to get back into gear. It must be 3 or 4 weeks in a row now I get to a great weight by Friday morning, feel really good, decide in my head, ‘life is too short’ or some other excuse like that to eat and drink all the wrong things over the weekend. It must be a form of self sabotage. I have visitors coming now for a couple of weeks and I somehow need to find the motivation that I had back in May.
Day 12- Colorado USA- NFD
After 4 liquid-only Fast Days in a row, I went just slightly off the rails with 1945 calories yesterday. All healthy foods though. And it tasted so good to be chewing again!
Not hopping on the scale today. Don’t want any rebound to discourage me. Official weigh in day is Friday.
@westiewench — way to dodge the chocolate! It’s especially hard at that TOM to not “crave in.” 😃 Chalk up a win.
@laurealice — Mmmm! Veggie gratin. Now I’m craving that! Perfect for when the weather turns cold. Plus, an excellent way to sneak veggies into my picky-eater OH.
Day 12….Florida……NFD
Still no power, so I’m working this morning with only 46% battery power and shotty internet service. So, this will be quick.
We are surviving! No work again for me! Another cold shower! But thankful for all of it because my family is together.
Have not fasted only because we’re eating what’s starting to unfreeze from the freezer. Hard to stay on track when, your trying not to lose any food. Plus, getting the grill going, is been a task for the OH, so it’s eat it hot or wait until it’s cold.
Good news, the scales only up 1lb.
Okay, well I’m off. I’ve got to truck outside and get these electronics plug into a car charger!
As soon as we have power and internet service again, I’ll write you all a book about my experience!
My husband told me to stop acting like a flamingo, so I had to put my foot down!
@basyjames. I know I’ve come late in the month, but if possible, would you please add me to the September challenge?
Hello Day 12 Co Down NI – was a FD but now a NFD sorry, sorry – I haven’t blown TDEE completely with regards to total calories, just not really where I wanted to be. I just had a small chip (fries) and two sausages. I work above a chip shop but it’s the first time in months I have even ventured near it. Feeling a bit stressed about tomorrow and trying to get the work done before I leave. It was certainly a mental thing rather than hunger. Sorry I caved in but it was eating away at me – you know when that thought gets into your head – had a cup of bovril to try and get past it but just not cutting it. A green smoothie planned for the evening.
@westiewench – I have added you to the spreadsheet if you want to fill in the gaps. You can add yourself but it’s nice to go and see your name already there.
@Stevetoontaxidriver – well????? we are waiting to hear what happened to the chocolate coin lol and you have left us hanging in suspense.
@mari84 – I hope your family are pleased for you when you tell them.
@happymargo – eloping, oh my, what a novel some could write.
Good to hear from you @bert1802 – wondering how @penz fared in the storm – hope things are ok.
@debster251 – enjoy your time with your son in his new home
@fastlife – Welcome – You can add yourself to the spreadsheet but I have added your name for you, just go in and add the rest of the details.
Day 12, Gozo Malta, fd
Today my youngest daughter flew to Bologna Italy as she has a conference in Ravenna where she has a medical presentation which she finished last week while I babysat her one year seven month old son Benjamin. She comes back next Saturday.
I cooked a recipe with rice, bacon, fresh tuna fish, pimentos, onions and olives with a little olive oil and I’m eating that this evening. I only ate around 200 calories up till now.
I hope penz you’re well. Bert keep on keeping on. Onwards and downwards.
Day 12–ABQ–NFD
I’m so jealous of all you world-travelers! It seems like I either don’t have the money or don’t have the time to get away. The last time I was able to really go far away was in 2011, when I volunteered in Bolivia for 5 weeks. My Sweetie says he really wants to go hike a volcano in Ecuador when he gets through with the cancer treatments in January/February (he’ll probably need a good long training time after that). After watching the Vuelta de Espana on tv, guess where I want to go? That and somewhere (anywhere) in sub-saharan Africa, especially if there are elephants to see. Oh, and then there’s Cambodia, Nepal, Australia. Sigh.
@laurealice–What kind of vegetables do you use in your gratin?
