  • Day 9-NFD-UK
Not a great start to September as two failed fasts last week. Starting a fresh this week. Know I can do this. With the storms hitting Florida at the minute feels a bit trivial to be giving this one more negative thought. Line drawn. I’m in this week. Good luck everyone.

Day 7 UK FD 🌈 Successful FD, after 2nd Fd down 2.4lbs. Going to weigh each week after my FDs. Then won’t see the increase befor eit hopefully steadily reduces again.
Day 8 UK NFD 🌈 Went out with friends in the evening, meal out and cocktails.
Day 9 UK NFD 🌈 Another meal out, 3 course fancy restaurant, not lots of food but very rich, and wine.
Day 10 UK NFD 🌈 Relax Sunday.

Mon/Tues and Wed will all be FDs – really busy she will keep me out of the fridge, and keep me moving.

    Day 11 UK FD 🌈
    Day 12 UK FD 🌈
    Day 13 UK FD 🌈

In case I don’t get time to check in, I do read through posts through out the day though. Especially lunchtime, helps my willpower.

Hope all are staying safe out of the worsening weather conditions.

    Day 11 NZ NFD

Day 10 – SW WA USA – NFD

Wow! Watching Hurricane Irma pulls me in. It’s hitting landfall at Marco Island and Naples after hitting the Florida Keys earlier. No electricity for over a million people already from the Keys to Miami and more. Glad to hear you’re okay so far @bert1802. Continuing to pray!

@saffy420 – I appreciate the holding hands on this journey! Hoping to see the other side of 200 again soon.

On the fire front locally, it’s good to see the sun today. Also, was so excited to get a little rain for the 1st time in a long time yesterday evening. The Columbia Gorge area fires continues but the bit of rain and cooler temps for a few days have helped.
@kokua12 – I see you’re from Portland. How have you been doing air quality wise?

Again – together we are stronger!

Day 10 Akron Ohio FD, 1st of 3 b2b. I like the way I feel on FD, light as a feather. I also sleep like a baby and wake up before my alarm goes off. My goal is to strike a good balance with my fd vs nfd, I’m tired of binging on nfd, it’s so self-defeating. Consistently healthy choices with the occasional treat would be nice, and my goal going forward.@bert1802 you are in my thoughts and prayers and so is everyone in the path of this storm,
Stay safe all; and may the fast be with you.

    Day 11 Sydney FD

    2nd post

Just been catching up on some of the posts over the weekend.

@bert1802 @penz thinking of you and praying for your safety. Stay safe and healthy.

@bigviking congrats on the new pants size πŸ‘πŸ‘ how exciting!

    Good luck today everybody.

    Day 10 Vancouver Island
    FD
I’ve never done a fast day on the weekend. I’m not really sure why I haven’t ….. but I wanted to narrow my eating window today and I guess I saw an opportunity:) Trying to get more focused and serious about this WOL πŸ€“
Stay safe in Florida / and the Caribbean. πŸ™

Hi there, I have just discovered this post and hopefully it isn’t to late to join in? I have been doing the odd FD but I need to buckle down and get serious – especially as Summer will be here in NZ soon and I have alot to loose – well not lose as I never want to find it again but to dispose off 25-30kgs….looking forward to being part of what appears to be awesome supportive group πŸ™‚

    Norway, Day 11, FD.

The party was SO great, I loved every moment πŸ™‚ And we outed the sectet marriage, so now it is out there. But I have second thoughts though. Now we have to tell our families as well, not sure how they will react. Oh well, none of theis business anyway, right?

Need thsi FD today, my weight have been going up and down 2 kg tha last week, so that big 90 is not gone after all. Feels like I have hit a platau already. But with the travelling and the party, I could not expect it to be a loss last week. Well, now I am confident and ready to come back to this WOL, although I have been doing my 2 FDs a week every week. But now I think I will do a LFD (Liquid Fast Day), and see if that will help.

Have a great day everyone! πŸ™‚

    Day 11, Guildford UK, NFD

    DAY 10 – UK – NFD

    DAY 11 – UK – FD

My fd on Saturday turned into a nfd….so only 1 fast so far this month! I really am trying…it was so easy last January – I keep praying that motivation and total commitment will return. I’ll keep plugging away!! I keep remembering how wonderful it felt to feel good about myself – I now wish I hadn’t been dissatisfied with my earlier achievement – always wanting more – and giving up totally when it didn’t happen – a lesson learned.
    Stay safe all.

    Day 11, UK, FD

A third of September fone already? How did that happen? Well on way to target for the challenge, so all good. Onwards and downwards!

    Day 11 North Wales FD

I think it is going to be a hard fast day today. I have had two days of eating and drinking far to much celebrating my youngest daughters birthday. Pressing the reset button really hard today to get back on track.

@bert1802 hope you and all those in the path of the storm are safe.

@jarbia hope your fast day goes well today. You can do this, stay strong.

    Day 11 – Woking, UK – FD
    240.3lbs
Won’t be weighing myself for a few days as I’m away until Friday. Let’s see how this goes…

    Day 11, London, UK, NFD

@basyjames, I’m with you!!! I really have to reign in the NFDs too, I’m frustrated with the bouncy-bouncy scales, but it’s simply due to my bouncy-bouncy eating!!! Self-defeating is exactly right and I too need to be consistent – we’ve got just under 3 weeks to make a change………………. Simple!!!

@jarbia, you KNOW you’ve got this, it’s nothing you haven’t done before, just release the anxiety, plan your FD to the last calorie, drown any dragons in still, sparkling or flavoured water and stay busy, busy, busy!!! You’ve got this!!!!!…. and we’ve got you!!

Stay strong everyone and keep the faith, we’re 1/3 of the way through September already!!!

After a productive weekend dehydrating veg for winter soups and mindful eating with less mindful red wine (love love heart heart, sorry don’t have an emoji) I’m trying a 24 hour fast today. Think it could fit in better with My Life as DH has been faffing around on recent FDs, bless his cotton socks. So looking forward to a nice chicken salad tonight. Weird not having lunch though, suppose I’ll get used to it.

Nice to see some newbies, bon courage πŸ™‚

And a happy Monday to fasters and nonfasters alike x

    Day 10, Northumberland UK, NFD
    Day 11, NFD

Couple of days out of routine involving take away and meals out, but still came in around TDEE so more than happy. Weight up slightly, but within target, and probably more due to not enough water consumed. Controlled NFD is the aim today and then I can plan my week.

    Day 10 – Cumbria UK – NFD
    Day 11 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Very sad to read the continuing devastation of the cyclones – hope all our forum friends are safe πŸ€—

Well some sunshine here after 2 days of drizzle and grey skies 🌀 but it won’t last long according to the weather man πŸ˜’

Yesterday went a bit out of control, lunch out with a friend which included a large glass of sauvignon blanc, had planned to have a light meal in the evening but then friends rang suggesting a get together so another meal out including🍷so calories ++++……….hoping for a controlled day today with a strong FD tomorrow planned!
@flourbaby and @bigviking – you were not alone in the overindulgence without thinking about what you ate and I had the wine 😈encouraging me!!!! When this happens, I always remind myself that this WOL does allow for a day of indulgence and I move forward staying in maintenance!

@happymargo – hope the Crohn’s flare up stays in control xx
@redrockgirl302 – enjoy your hike! I so enjoy getting out on the fells in my neck of the woods too – so energising and makes you so grateful to be able to get out and enjoy what nature offers
@okeydokey – (((Hugs))) Hope family life settles and those who have not been well are recovering – have you got your dental appointments sorted out?? Thinking of you and yours
@annemarilyn and @saffy420 – You can do this “Have pride in how far you have come. Have faith in how far you can go”

@jarbia – Keep the faith, the most amazing things in life tend to happen right at the moment you are about to give up πŸ€—

For anyone struggling at the moment I found this quote by Doe Zantamata which might provide some encouragement:-
    “It starts with a DREAM
Add FAITH and it becomes a BELIEF
Add ACTION and it becomes PART OF LIFE
Add PERSEVERANCE and it becomes a GOAL IN SIGHT
Add PATIENCE and TIME and it ends with a DREAM COME TRUE”

    Day 12-FD-UK

Feeling very positive. Evening time my worst time so hopefully will push through then x

    Day 11– Colorado USA- FD

Currently doing a B2B2B. Last real meal was dinner on Wednesday.
    Thursday = 165 calories
    Friday = 530 calories
    Saturday = 527 calories
    Sunday = 1301 calories

Nothing like @dykask full week water Fast (so impressive!) but this 4 day stretch *finally* bumped me off Plateau Mountain!
I’ve been stalled at 153+ lbs for far too long… my goal for September was to bump down into the 140’s. This morning I hit 149.2 lbs. WhooHoo!!!

Now I have to just stay vigilant so there’s no rebound back into 150’s. Still 19 days in September to lock in that intermediate goal. Thinking the Dry-Wino pact is helping tremendously too. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸΌ We got this!

last couple of weeks have been a struggle losing around 5lb during the week
only to put most of it back on over the rest of the days , any ideas ? tips

Day 11– Colorado USA- 2nd post

@bert1802 and @penz — hoping Irma has spared you & you’ve remained safe! We’re all looking forward to your updates (including how the garden fared.)

@bert1802 – I’ve used Fly Lady system too, with good results. But I had to unsubscribe the emails as well, too many advertisements. But her web site is very uplifting & positive with practical daily steps. You’ve made me want to re-visit her site & implement FlyLady system again to rebuild those good habits!

    Day 11 – Australia FD
Fourth FD for the month so far. So far so good..although I get a bit listless and hard to stay focussed at the work by late arvo. Always wake up the next day feeling great though. Having a good go at less wine drinking too… Not going to weigh myself for a week as about have the monthly fun which always plays havoc with the scales for a few days..then it goes again. Working on losing a couple of kilos that I gained over the course of a backinjury when I couldn’t exercise. Happily recovered from that now.

    Day 11 – NFD – Boston MA – 164.6 lbs

First of all, thank you to everyone posting on this challenge. It is really helpful to me to have a place to post my progress and to see others’ efforts.

Yesterday ended up being only a partial FD, as we had an event for a family member I had forgotten about. But even with that I ended up with a 600-ish calorie deficit for yesterday. Besides, it was my third fast for the week, so at least I had two full fast days to keep me on track!

Also, now that I’ve been doing 5:2 for a few weeks, with daily weigh-ins, I can now see patterns of weight loss. So even though I popped back up a pound between yesterday and today, my weight loss graph shows that that happens to me about every 5 days before heading back down again.

I love how I don’t have to stress about my weight loss anymore! 5:2 allows me to have FUN losing weight! So long as I stick to the program, the scale goes down! So, I don’t even have to worry about when it goes up! I love this so much!

    Just a quick update…..

I’m connected via my cell phone but reception is iffy!

God Blessed us last night and kept us all safe!
We lost power about 10:30pm. The house was darker than I’ve ever seen it. Trees and other crap was hitting the house. My poor ole puppy, he’s 17 years old, doesn’t see or hear well could not settle.

Woke up this morning to a hell of a mess but thankfully no damage to anything! Even my egg plant, made it!

    Still raining and very windy

    Has anyone heard from @penz?

Well…. my coffee came of the grill this morning….. it’s got a hint of hickory flavor!
    So, clean up begins!

My husband told me to stop acting like a flamingo, so I had to put my foot down!

@bigviking – did you say your jeans went from 40″ down to 32″?!? That’s amazing results! Congrats!
I definitely have weight loss goals, but dropping pants size & changing body shape is really the ultimate aim. You all give me hope!

@westiewench — Welcome! This is a supportive group. I’ve found loads of inspiration & motivation by joining this thread. If I feel my resolve waiver, reading posts here gives me a needed boost. Hope you have success with the 5:2 WOL (way of life) too!

@mari84 — congrats on outing your secret marriage! My OH & I eloped after knowing each other just 6 months. We didn’t want to introduce each other to our families for the first time as a spouse, they thought we were still just dating. After another 2 years we had a wedding celebration (to this day 26 years later, only part of our family knows about the elopement.). Hope the news goes well with your family too!

@msraven — Friday & Saturday shenanigans have always been my down-fall too! That’s why I’m trying Dry-Wino September; my will power weakens incredibly when I have a couple beers or wine. Suddenly chicken wings & mozzarella sticks can seem convincingly “healthy.” πŸ˜ƒ

Glad to see @bert1802 made it through the storm. Hoping all other Floridians are safe. We experienced that mess in Hilton Head last year. I guess it is part of living on the East Coast.
I am looking at b2b2b days ahead at 500 calories each. I have a wedding on the 23rd of the month which is very little time to fit in my tight dress…sigh. I hit 177.2 at the end of August and did not see that number return till yesterday at 177.4. I had a reasonable nonfast day at 1500 and the scales were back up to 180 this AM. Still, the trends are down. I will be so happy to see a new low.

Day 11 Newcastle UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ NFD.
A bit late in the day but I’ve had a busy morning.

Day 11, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

Brunch yesterday and too much popcorn resulted in almost 1 more pound on the scale this morning. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… So the reset button is pushed. FD planned Mon to Fri. It is going to be a busy week, stuff happening every day which is rare. No social commitments, perfect for fast days.

@songbirdme: Thanks, I am glad I am maintaining as do you! 😊😊😊 Nice to have the reset button after little indulgences!
@bert1802: Glad you made it OK through Irma! 😊😊😊
@at: Yes, indeed, I need hiking for my mind. Nature and moving in nature calms me. Need to take care of my body so that I can continue hiking for many years to come!😊😊😊

Stay safe everyone and happy fasting!⚘⚘⚘

    Day 11 – USA – NFD

@bert1802, glad you made it through Irma; @happymargo, good for you reaching a milestone; keep it up! @maddyg, we have a similar goal – I’m in the low 170s also; I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a “whoosh” soon and you’ll be right back down there!

    Day 11 Akron OH FD.
@pdoran23 are you sticking to TDEE on NFD? Drinking plenty of water? Those would be my first couple things to check, if you are doing those and still dealing with no weight loss, take your focus off the scale and try on clothes that haven’t fit in a while, you may be pleasantly surprised to find out you have lost inches. Ultimately, hang in there and don’t give up. Even when you are stuck on a plateau as some of us have been, IF is still very beneficial; you will eventually step off the plateau and lose that weight.

Day 11 – USA (UT visiting) – NFD

Today taking it easy, hoping to make it controlled (CD) and fairly relaxing.

@bert1802 – oh so glad to hear from you. And no, don’t think we have heard from @penz for several days now. Millions without power in Florida – so awful.

@redrockgirl302 – glad to hear you’re getting out to hike again!

How are you westerners coping with the fires there? Hope to hear from you too!

Hugs and prayers to everyone who is dealing with the aftermath of storms, fires, and memories of 9/11 as well.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 11 Belfast NFD πŸ’πŸ·πŸ—‘πŸ’ͺ16:8.

Had a controlled weekend, drinking only on Friday night, and eating lots of seafood. Hoping the scales will reflect this tomorrow morning.

Well done on your reset @bigviking and exceptionally well done to those dry winos. Maybe next month I’ll try the same.
@saffy420 – wine gums and Randoms are totally irresistible. I can’t eat one without the whole packet!
@anna6 – ballet is so good for you. I still retain some of my supple joints even though I haven’t danced since I was 15. My dream was to be a ballet dancer like Margot Fonteyn. Ha, I became a teacher instead, but have always wondered if I could have been good enough. There’s still a dancer inside me, busting to get out!
@bert1802 and @penz – I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was to look to see if you had posted. Bert, I was so glad to hear you’re fine. @Penz- Hope all’s well. 🀞
@louis05. Just press that reset button and take each day as it stands. This is a way of life not a diet. Fasting does become easier in time. For me, it’s the non fast days and life in general that does the sabotage!
@westiewench welcome to this great forum. Any day is a good day to start!
@mari84 – marriage is a ceremony to cement a relationship and how it’s done should be entirely up to the two people involved! Hope all is good when you tell your family!
@jarbia – you’ll get there. It is definitely a mind thing. Just take one day at a time. What re-motivated me was seeing a picture of a ‘fatter’ me before I started this WOL. I’m nearly there, but this last 7-10 lbs are proving so difficult. You CAN do it!
@laurealice – there is definitely an autumnal feel now. The trees are turning fast, and he mornings have quite a chill. You’re right – time to think of those winter soups.
@happymargo – fantastic result on the scales… and you really deserve it!
@pdoran23 – do you track your calories on NFDs? Too many of us struggle when we’re not fasting, especially when wine/beer is involved!

    2nd post

@debster251 I did the same first thing this morning after waking up, looking if @bert1802 and @penz had posted. Bert, I’m so glad you and your family are safe. Now we have to wait for a post from @penz.

Last week we had an extremely hard week at work, the last week before a vacation is always very busy but this time it was just terrible. So I got lost in the land of indulgement for a week, my dress (I only hop on the scales at the beginning/end of the month) doesn’t fit well anymore, too tight this morning so back to water and chicken-broccoli soup. I do like my FD’s but got out of the habit, so from now on 2 FD’s a week again.

    Day 11 Vancouver Island
    NFD

    Day 11β€”ABQβ€”FD

Saturday we went to the state fair and, while in other years I’ve been interested in the arts & craft exhibits or the animals, this year I was only interested in the food. Coincidence that it’s also the first year I’ve been doing a 5:2? Probably not. Had poutine for the first time ever. Wow it’s good! Yesterday was a cooking day; I made 4 Β½ lbs of salsa out of our garden tomatoes, or nine eight-ounce jars, and pork wontons for dinner. I was basically good except for the nighttime cookie binge.

Basyjames & Debster251β€”NFDs are almost harder than FDs for me because I gave myself permission to eat until I feel like stopping. The problem is stopping. Maybe we need to make NFD rules for ourselves that we can follow without feeling deprived? I don’t know. Any ideas?

    2nd Post
HappyMargo–Chicken wings and mozzarella sticks are low-carb high fat, no? So at least there’s that.

    Day 11 – Reykjavik – FD
This was a foreseeable lost weekend! A final tournament with my golf-group with a following fiesta of turf and red and G&T and… then some more. Had a fantastic time, but it sure was no diet weekend.
I stepped on the scale this morning only to confirm the damage done. +1.4 kg since Friday morning and +0.4 kg since 1. Sept. Well, all is not lost, IΒ΄m certain I will shake off a good deal of this newfound weight quite fast.
So IΒ΄m fasting today, contemplating my diet sins from the weekend – or not πŸ™‚

    Day 11 – πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§- NFD

I’ve been updating spreadsheet & back on track with successful fasts.

V happy I’ve managed to finally shift a pound, now 10st 11lb and heading the right direction! Back to exercising post holiday – amazing how quickly fitness is lost – no pain no gain 😊 Oh a strictly is back 😍

    Day 11 – ABQ – FD
    Day 10 & 9 – NFDs

Quick update. I’m feeling sicker than a dog today, and ironically it works well with FDs since when I’m sick all I want is tea and broth with really no food until after I’m feeling better. I can’t wait to be done with work today and crawl into my bed and hide until work again tomorrow morning.

Prayers to @bert & @penz – we hope to hear from you soon @penz!
