  • fizzy, congratulations on the 500 calories *and* on finding out that the demon was YUCK. That’s such a good thing to learn, isn’t it? 😉 ADF might be challenging in some ways — like social scheduling — but I have the impression that it really cuts down the temptation to over-indulge by much on non-fasting days, so it might be worth a try. If you decide to do it, I hope it goes well for you 🙂

    Fasting today 500 cals.

    Well I’ve had a good day fasting until 7pm here and now at 350 cals eaten, saving my 150 for a pre bed drink of hot chocolate made with water.;-0
    Definitely my best day so far and feels like I can do this. My motivation has increased inversely to my food intake!

    Anyone else doing a fast today?

    Hey everyone, just got back from my insanity class, managed to stick to the 500 today but might have to go to bed soon as feel a bit hungry. Has anyone tried consecutive day fasting?

    My normal day didn’t go very well yesterday! Went out for dinner and went abit mad 🙁 fasting today though.. Not feeling great today very tired and headache 🙁

    Stick with it Nat.
    The beauty of this is that you can adjust as you feel necessary.
    If you cant fast today then maybe tomorrow will be the day for you.
    At least you will have a lower calorie count for today anyway.It will cancel out the mad day!!

    It’s my fasting day today………
    How’s everyone doing????
    I’m struggling with my back at the moment, I have been house bound the last few days unable to even go for a little work:-( so I’m really trying to be strong with food. I’m very close in stuffing myself to help me feel better even know it won’t!
    I’m a very active person and I’ve been told that I will have to manage my back problem…,,no cure:-(
    Just worried that I’m going to turn to food ……… Arghhhhhhh

    Hope everyone is doing ok and seeing some changes and weight lose.
    I’ve still not weighed myself ……

    @blue eyes.Was that a typo, a little work or did you mean walk!
    Think of it like this Food has never cured any back problem I’ve come across, while getting active even if its small walks always helps.
    Check with your Physio if you can swim, or walk in the pool. The evidence says back pain responds to motion better than to rest.

    As for my progress, I have started alternate day fasting this week and having finally gotten the dreaded 500 calorie limit solved,through steadily decreasing the amount eaten on a fast day,I am delighted to report that my stats are improving.

    I weighed in at 145 lbs today and am happy to report my trousers are getting baggy at the bum and my muffin top is crumbling!! I despaired of the scales ever going downward as they consistently tipped between 148 and 150.

    I believe, as I ponder on the mechanism of it, that the ADF is generating a psychological effect, in helping me to reduce my calorie intake. When I was doing the 5:2 I felt guilty,if that’s the word, that I was eating at my TDEE AND WANTED TO EAT LESS BUT ENDED UP EATING MORE!!
    Now I am using the blood sugar control from the previous day fasting to help me for one day and then its fast day again so I don’t have the guilt!!
    Does that make sense.

    I’m going to do this until I get below 140 for the moment and see how I feel.
    My goal is approaching, my resolve is getting stronger. I will do this.

    Had to eat a crumpet mid morning though due to feeling so ill/tired. Been in bed this afternoon so not had chance to eat food with being asleep! Only 1.5 hours to go until tea time..

    fizzy123, I have been wondering if ADF would help people who have trouble with eating over TDEE on non-fasting days, it’s interesting to me that you mention that it has helped you with that. It seems to me that, with eating only 500 calories every other day, your body would really start to get used to taking in less over time, even if you go over by 10-15% on the non-fasting days like the researchers say, it’s still a big calorie reduction over the course of a week. Glad this is working for you 🙂

    My Physio gives me exercises to do everyday but even that is to sore at the moment!
    Yes you right about to keep moving, so 🙂 so taken painkillers and I’m off for a walk.
    I starting to get hungry now, not long until tea.
    I’m weighing myself on Mon, that will be the first time in 4 wks so I will be interested how I’ve got on.
    My jeans feel loose and other clothing are as well:-)

    I find I struggle with eating too much on the 2nd day after my fasting! Anyone else struggle with this? I’m ok the next day when I’ve fasted.

    @blue eyes that’s a good sign and bet you are losing on the scales too.
    Have you considered the ADF I find it doable as I described above and the best thing if I go over on a day, its not the end of the world.
    Plus it has really boosted my scale loss. I know this isn’t an official weigh day for me but I dropped another lb since yesterday. That after having wine on my non fast day yesterday! I don’t know how long I was at 145 as I hadn’t weighted since my start day and I wont weigh again until Thursday 29th.

    I am going to be honest.. This week havn’t been my best of weeks at all. I’m feeling very mad at myself for loosing the will and motivation! I was doing so well but feel like a failure 🙁 I did fast Tuesday and Thursday but did eat over 500 averaged about 600 should I fast today? Or make a fresh start Monday? Really need some motivation guys

    I’m doing the diet more for health benefits so only want to lose little bit of weight, if I continue will I keep losing weight or just stay at my desired weight.

    @nat Just logged in late today.Hope you feel better about things whatever you decided to do about the fast.I found it takes time to adjust an attitude and definitely wasn’t able to stick to the 500 at first. But I’m getting better at it as the time progresses.As I’ve been preaching to myself::-) the ADF really helps me by not feeling like I’ve failed when I go a little over.I can justify that I’ve only done one days damage and the next day is either a fast or a normal day!!

    Something I found really helpful, was identifying why I was bingeing on sugar and treats and doing this to myself.It was a post elsewhere on this site that I found most beneficial.I’ll look for the link and post it tomorrow.

    I had a egg white omelette for breakfast with spinach and Ham! 55 cals was lovely! Looking forward to dinner tonight!

    Ok I’ve finished my intake for today,at 507. I’m going to practice being mindful around food this evening.
    I won’t need to eat any more tonight if I stay focused on my ultimate goal and realise that to fast is beneficial for my health.

    My intake was 570 as I went out for tea I know it’s abit over but not bad so I’m happy with that.

    Hi everyone, fasted today too and came in at 550 cals but been to an exercise class. I’m fasting Friday next this week. Looking forward to a slice of homemade cheesecake tommorow 🙂

    I had Forgotten I was hosting a coffee morning for a planning meeting and had to tell myself ‘not today…. Tomorrow’ amongst the pastries and cakes… But now all I can think of is cheesecake – my favourite!

    Well done @fizzy123 I am fasting tomorrow 🙂 I have been trying to stick to 1500 cals on my non fast days even though my BMR is 2000 but I had 2000 calories today. I have tried to plan the weekend so I’m praying I stick to it and be good! The weekends are really hard for me to stick to.

    @nat But it wont be forever, you only have to do this until you get to your goal and then its any day during the week that you’d like and usually Monday is good for me anyway!

    Fizzy123 – this is what I love about 5:2 … You just let go of the day and start again the next day if you go over your 500 cals. Well done on the positive attitude and good luck today!

    Fasted today and got 517 cals so not too bad, after a dismal last 2 attempts I finally got myself back on track!

    Going to attempt a back to back fast today in prep for the Bank Holiday weekend here.
    I think I’ll try and keep my fasting length as long as possible but maybe increase my calories a little.
    Any ideas?
