  • Yes, I’m trying liquid only (tea) for my fasting days. I find it’s easier for me to completely avoid food than it is to eat a small amount. If I find I start to eat too much on my NFDs, I’ll try doing the 400-500 cal days instead of the zero calorie days. I’ve read a lot of Dr. Jason Fung, and I’m more worried about doing low calorie days than I am doing zero calorie days. But maybe bouncing back and forth between low and full calorie days does enough to confuse the body so that you don’t slow your metabolism. Each of us needs to see what works for our bodies. Glad to hear so much success and it’s great to have such an active forum!

    Day 11 CD
Yesterday was quite a good day from an eating point of view, until after work when I got home very tired. The rest of the evening was definitely not under control. I’m home today, so planning on resting up and controlling eating. Best wishes for those on FD or LFD today, you can do it!

    Day 11 country West Australia
    NFD
Going to a friend’s funeral today and our church is catering for the wake.
Yesterday was spent in the kitchen making cakes and slices. Not sure how many calories are in a piece of chocolate caramel slice but I had a few – for quality control reasons only!!
@coda I agree with the plain yoghurt and berries as a very good option.
What I sometimes take to work to break a fast is a chicken/avo/cucumber/tomato/onion/cashew salad. I usually only have 1 or 2 cashews with it but a cup of the rest is not too calorific and quite delicious.
The complete salad also has mango. Very delicious – but one I used to consume way too much of before 5:2 and knowing my TDEE.
Today you don’t have to be perfect – just be as excellent as you can be given your circumstances.😊

    Day 11 – NFD – Brisbane, Australia.
Stayed under 1100 cals yesterday for my NFD. Delayed breakfast until 11am today, after my big walk. This is getting easier 😊 Feeling healthier and clearer thinking. OH still struggling with FD’s but is determined to stick with it for the health benefits. FD tomorrow.

    Day 11 – Japan – NFD 82.8kg

Still sick, I started getting worse in the afternoon yesterday, even had a fever by night. Probably a secondary virus or maybe a bacterial infection. I’m working from home, but just barely.

    Day 11-uk-FD x

Good morning all. Started FD this week. Day 2 today.
    First day was Monday which
went reasonably well. But was very tired with body ache and headaches yesterday. I also ate more and had a late supper.
Planning to do day 2 today.
    Any tips?

    Day 11 – Ireland 🇮🇪 -FD

Was relatively controlled yesterday albeit with a couple of glasses of wine with Dad over dinner. I plan a 500 calorie FD today. Apple and plum for lunch, roast chicken (without skin) and broccoli for dinner. All comes to 437 according to my FitBit calorie counter. With Dad here I will roast a couple of spuds for him and DH but I will resist.

Thanks to all who commented on my liquid only FD loss. Much appreciated. Did not weigh today but a but bunged up, so need that apple today to help release the hostages 😳😳😳😳

Terrible scenes on TV re the wildfire in California.

    @Dysask get well soon.

Day 11 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 FD.

    Day 9 | Ireland 🇮🇪 | FD
    Day 10 | Ireland 🇮🇪 | NFD
    Day 11 | Ireland 🇮🇪 | NFD
    FD planned tomorrow, Thursday.

Hello day 11 from co down ni 3rd day LFD

Didn’t sleep terribly well, drifted off but woke and couldn’t get back to sleep so read for a while and of course was in deep slumber when the alarm went off. I should sleep better tonight as I should be very tired.

    Day 11, UK, ermmm NFD!

I usually fast on a Wednesday which is really throwing me out of sorts!
I am out for dinner tonight with a friend so will do my upmost to have the healthiest thing on the menu (I doubt the pub we’re off to will have anything under 500 calories, but we’ll see…)

    Day 11 – Woking, UK – FD
    240lbs
Busy day hosting a 4 hour workshop today so the afternoon will just be water and coffee.

    Day 11 UK FD

I made rather a pig of myself yesterday after the liquid only fast, which probably wouldn’t have happened after a normal 800 calorie one. I actually doubt I will lose more weight doing liquid only but it fits in better with my schedule at the moment so I plan another today. And I only ate vegetables and legumes and several pears and my weight stayed under eleven stone so no harm done.

    Day 11, Gozo Malta, fd

Yesterday s fast day was closer to 800 calories. Today is another fd for me and the end of fast days this week. Tomorrow I ll weigh myself first thing in the morning.

Have a great Wednesday everyone, onwards and downwards

Day 11, London, UK, FD, (2nd of B2B2B)

Feeling ok today, despite being ravenous before bed last night, I caved and had a biscuit I didn’t need, however, it was just one rather than the entire pack, so that’s progress!!!!! I blame the GBBO for the temptation, its torture watching ALL THAT CAKE!!!!!!!!

I’m a daily weigher, but this mad weekend binge outdid all other binges in terms of weight gain, so although I’m weighing myself daily, I’m not recording it in MFP………………….. I know, I know, this makes NO sense and I’m just doing the ostrich thing, but this week is an entire week of resetting!!!!!

@lindasue, I’m with you on Dr. Somers, I’ve also thrown Joe Wicks, Boris Kodjoe & David Gandy into the bucket of ‘Men I could stalk’ …………………………. I said ‘could’ so nobody needs to call the police!!!!!

Stay strong everyone, we really can do this!!!!

    2nd post
    Welcome @aarjee
Are you following the basic 5:2 eating 500 – 800 calories on fast days? One of the secrets to successfully fasting is to stay well hydrated. I find drinking fluids and adding a salty beverage such as miso soup, bouillon or bone broth make a huge difference to how I feel. I always eat an evening meal consisting of protein such as fish, chicken, steak or eggs plus a colourful array of vegetables. I’ve lost 43lbs and have maintained since April 2015 following this regime.

    Day 11, Newcastle UK, FD

Prayers for all those affected by the CA fires – very sad.

Totally lost my mojo the last few days – Monday’s unsuccessful liquid fast turned into a TOOCNFD – as did yesterday. I’ve given myself a mental kick up the backside and am fasting today and tomorrow. After such a good start to the month, I just can’t understand how easily I fall into self sabotage. Bizarre behaviour.

    @at & @debster251 – our piece of kit has been dispatched ………watch this space…

“I didn’t come this far to only come this far” Onwards and downwards.

    Day 11 – Reykjavik – FD

This is a compensation FD as the scheduled FD last Monday went sour.
Very busy at work now so I keep it short and simple.

    Day 11…..Florida…..FD

Good Morning! It’s still very much dark here and I’m up an hour than usual. That’s because I’m opening the contractor desk. It’s my first time, it’s going to be easy pesy, my only concern is the active alarm, I must turn off….. I told the boss, if you get a call from the alarm company at least you’ll know I’m at work….. lol

Yesterday’s FD went very well, although I could stand to drink more water. Going at it for another one today, well because I know I’m going to be tired and I like to eat when I am…..so…..logical choice…. maybe?

@ calif…… you and your family are in my prayers!

Coda…… for lunches, I normally bring just a simple veg or fruit. I eat very lightly , I find eating heavier slows me down mid afternoon. So, my favorite thing to eat is just broccoli and cheese but no microwave for you so you could do a nice fruit salad with granola or I like the soup in a thermos idea too!

Dykask…… I’m sending you healthy vibes today, may you feel better soon!

Aarjee……Welcome! It sounds like to me you didn’t drink enough water. Try getting more of the clear stuff in. Also, you could be low in the salt dept or potassium. Try drink a glass of water with some salt in it and/or a potassium supplement. I take a daily potassium supplements to help with that. plus, it helps with stiff achy joints which, I seem to suffer from.

Okay, well I’m off to start the day!

I saw a little stiletto of a man, he’s on the loose, he’s on the loose carrying a can of fandango!

    Day 11, Belfast, NFD

Had an ok FD yesterday. Wasn’t too busy at work so got distracted form time to time dreaming about food. Had a good diet dinner but then sabotaged it with a slice of wheaten bread and cheddar. But that was it. I could very easily have tucked in to my OH’s leftover sausages and beans and spuds…;)

@flourbaby – If I’m on a FD, then GBBO is out the window! Last night I just went up for a nice relaxing bath rather than torturing myself lol!

    Good luck everyone today x

    Day 11 Belfast NFD

I’m very impressed with the list of B2B Liquid Fasters.. go you!
@LynnD – spiced ginger tea is on my shopping list.
@at 1980 was a good year. We married in a beautiful sunny April.
@penz – what about trying a 16:8 regime first? It was actually my OH who got me onto two meals a day. He is type one diabetic and has been for years. He found his blood sugars were much more stable if he didn’t eat breakfast. However, his food choices aren’t what they should be the rest of the time, so I sneak in some calorie counted ‘healthy’ meals in the evening.
    Welcome @xoxo, @bhondo and @aarjee.
@dykask hope you feel better soon.
@coda for me with a sweet tooth, the berries and yoghurt is the one, although avocado is good too.
@Strawberriesandcream – it looks like an instrument of torture. Looking forward to hearing your assessment when it arrives!

I can equate my liquid fasts to my first 500 cal fasts. You realise, as @flourbaby says so succinctly, that it is all possible. It changes the boundaries, and your perspective. It also seems to have kick started my metabolism and my mojo.

I will finish with @aljomisaza‘s great quote
DISCIPLINE, NOT DESIRE, DETERMINES YOUR DESTINATION

    Day9 Dublin Ireland NFD

Fast day went well yesterday until the Sourdough pizza arrived! But I survived the day until dinner so not totally sabotaged. Going to eat well and low cal today and keep on it tomorrow for my 2nd FD of the week! Weighing twice per week after fast days. Weight loss was maintained despite the pizza last night!
    Good luck everyone, stay strong

Day 11 Akron Ohio FD. My second liquid fd went well until I got home-then a piece of baked fish jumped into my mouth. So I broke with some full fat greek yogurt. Total calorie count for the day 285.
    Onward and downwards

Califdreamer sorry to hear about your family losses during the fire. Prayers for your family

    Day 11 North Wales NFD

    Day 11 Wales NFD

Hello everyone from wet and windy Wales – it’s a perfect day for getting indoor household chores done.

@dykask – rest and take care, hope you feel better soon.

@rainbowsmile – haven’t ‘seen’ you here for a while, hope things are going well for you.

Right then, off for some energetic dusting and vacuuming…….apparently housework can be a good form of exercise. Have a good day everyone.

    Day 11 London FD

    2nd post
@aarjee – welcome and glad to see you found us. Its a fast moving thread by far the most active i think but the support given is second to none.

@debster and @at 1980 was a very good year we were also married that year in June. Congratulations @at 🥂

Thanks for all my break fast ideas it’s what is keeping me going at moment.

Now I know I can I plan to do this as a reset each month (well that’s the plan) and as for my 2 fast days at least one should be liquid only if not both

If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves’ Thomas Edison

    Day 11, South Wales, FD

Decided on an extra FD today to try to kickstart the weight loss, so 4:3 for me this week I think! 1/2 lb down after NFD yesterday – maybe delayed reaction from Monday’s liquids only fast? Who knows…

@flourbaby – I know what you mean about the GBBO! My daughter and I love that show, and she spends her spare time replicating the recipes. Of course it would be rude of me not to taste them!!!

    Good luck everyone for today.

Day 11 Sicily NFD Succumed to gelato again yesterday so had to change the spreadsheet to a NFD from a CD. Oh well, I’ll make it up somehow with what’s left of the week. @dykask Sorry you’re feeling so ill 😰.Get well soon!

    Day 11, US, CFD

Good FD yesterday but I know I didn’t drink enough water. Will fast until dinner tonight when my lovely OH is making prawn and banana curry. Yum! More water today.

Thanks @coda – maybe weeks of gentle nagging will bring my OH around!  Actually, now that I think about it from his perspective, because I do liquid fasts, he may be under the false impression that he can’t eat at all on FDs. Maybe I sd lend him the book!

I don’t know that 16:8 would work for my hubby, Debster, but thanks for the suggestion. He’s one of these people that still believes breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Maybe I can chip away at that first…
@annemarilyn – forgot to reply before. It’s interesting the variety of ways people have interpreted sweetenough! I told my OH I was cutting out sugar this month and he quirked an eyebrow at me as I was sipping a glass of red wine… So what I’ve actually cut out is sweets (as in candies), chocolate, cakes, icecream, desserts, donuts etc.

@califdreamer – thinking of you and your family.

@flourbaby – what’s GBBO? I’m sure it’s obvious but the caffeine hasn’t hit my system yet and I can’t work it out.

    Welcome all our new posters!

    Day 11 – UAE – NFD

GBBO = Great British Bake Off tv show where contestants make and bake all sorts of delicious goodies.

    Day 11,NFD, canada

Made it through 2nd LFD yesterday and woke up feeling great today. Will break my fast around noon with fruit. Feeling very light today and that my posture is somehow improved after the last 2 days.

@coda thanks for starting this pocket group, don’t think I would have attempted without the group support.

Good luck to all carrying on with the LFD again today.
Well done to all of us on this WOE, striving to take control of our health.

    We CAN do it.

Day 11, London, UK, 2nd post,

@lynned, I’m sure your daughter requires objective & constructive criticism of her creations, so, I’m offering my taste buds up for her use, AND I’m just around the corner!!!!!………………….Well in the global scheme of things I am!!!!

@penz – Not sure if I’m doing a good or bad thing here, but………… The GBBO is the Great British Bake Off, a competitive baking programme here in the UK …………….. simply put, it’s food porn, plain and simple!!!!!! Follow the link………..if you DARE!!!!!

    https://thegreatbritishbakeoff.co.uk/

    Enjoy!!

Day 11, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

Back on the wagon! After feeling sick I was feeling so sorry for myself that I left the sweet wagon and dry wagon….oh boy! But I jumped back on both wagons yesterday, did a FD of a bit over 600 cals, followed by another FD today.
Thank you for the well wishes @awilson, @metatauta, @califdreamer (thinking of you and your family in these difficult times), @onahealthyhigh, @okeydokey.
    😊🌺😊🌻😊🌼😊

    Off hiking soon!

    Wishing everyone a good Wednesday!⚘⚘⚘

    Day 11 second post
@dykask, feeling a bit concerned as you haven’t been well for a while. A trip to the doc perhaps? especially if you have a secondary chest infection.
We have had a lot of people this year who have been sicker than normal with flu’s, colds ( some with a ‘ 90 day cough’ it lasts that long) and more cases of pneumonia than I have seen in years.
Sending positive thoughts and healthy vibes across the sea.😔
@coda, glad you are feeling a bit better and hoping you sleep well.🙂

    Day 11 – USA – FD

@onedayordayone, I meant to ask you, since you live in Dublin if you’ve heard of Adelaide Road or Ballybrack, Co. Dublin…used to live there waaaaay back in the 70s. I suppose it’s all built up now? @jessyoursize and @at, happy, happy anniversary!!! @dykask, also concerned about your lingering state…maybe you should go see what’s up? @mogaman, you have shown such restraing in Sicily; I admire that! My OH decided to lose weight “his own way” and has amazingly lost at least 20+ lbs. in the past 2 months. I’m happy for him; I don’t feel so bad choosing different types of food on FDs or eliminating certain foods on NFDs when he cooks. He is not at all interested in LCHF or eliminating sugar, but he did eliminate beer!

    Day 11 US Iowa

    Good morning!!

I took the advice given yesterday and did a regular FD. I had 800 calories last night. I am going to still do OMAD because I love it–not because I have to. I am back in ketosis this morning after a weekend of indulging in restaurant food and alcohol.

@lilymartin I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Please accept my condolences.

@aljomisaza I love this: DISCIPLINE, NOT DESIRE, DETERMINES YOUR DESTINATION

@dykask and @AarjeeI hope you both feel better soon.

@flourbaby, I’ve decided to weigh daily also. With the tracker on this site it is so easy. That said, I know there will be days where I don’t want to weigh myself. But, IMO, I think I have to for consistency and accountability. Maybe I will do what you are on “those days” and just weigh but not record? It is better than skipping it all together, right?? LOL–total ostrich but –whatever works, right?

@lynned I am considering doing a 3 FD week also.

Waving at everyone else!! I hope you’re having a great day.

Day 11 – SW WA USA – NFD

True fall weather for this area has set in – grey skies & rain. But we had a lot of sunshine in summer and the early fall. I’ll start marking when I see the sun on the calendar. It gets me through the gloomy days when I count how many days I have actually seen the sun.

I’m happy that NFDs have been more controlled. Feeling like I’m getting into a pretty good rhythm in October – between Fasting and Feasting.

@lilymartin – sorrow to hear you lost a friend. Sending cyber hugs. Thank you for sharing the salad recipe. It sounds yummy.

@dykask – I hope you get better soon. And yes as was mentioned, is it time to visit a doctor?
    @redrockgirl302 – I’m glad you’re feeling better!

So many good quotes today. Love “I didn’t come this far to only come this far” thanks for that @strawberriesandcream.

Day 11 – 🇬🇧- ended up as NFD due to 🍰

Oh well 4 days left in the week to complete my 2 fasts, must keep strong!!!!

Day 11, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Third fast day in a row – feeling strong. Did my three minute plank at 5:30 a.m. while listening to/watching What Not to Wear. Does anybody really wear pink fuzzy pajamas to work as a music publicist in Nashville? Really?

Funny thing happened yesterday, I pulled a pretty black/brown paisley printed blouse out of the closet (thinking I had grabbed another one). The one I did get is a blouse that I normally leave unbuttoned and wear over a sleeveless black shell as it seems a big “snug”. Well, I had it on and buttoned before I realized that a few months ago I couldn’t have done so. Yet, my weight is the same. So, even though I do weigh daily for those who don’t – your clothes are a good marker that your weight is firming up even if the numbers are staying the same. I really, really, really see a difference since I have consistently done my planks, especially in the core and in my posture. Once in a while when I happen to be smoothing a blouse or something I notice that my middle seems so much flatter and firmer. I also have given up diet soda except on very rare occasions so I know that also helps.

Going to sip my hot green tea and do some reading, my best to each and every one of you “losers” haha…

Welcome to the new members. Never to late to join, you can’t go wrong when you do right !

Another thing from me —- I have been very conscious (even walking around my house and especially while sitting at work) – to hold in my stomach muscles tightly as if my belly button is touching my spine – and keep my shoulders back. I can really tell it is working because now it hurts when I am NOT doing so. Figured that is something I can do easily, doesn’t cost me a cent and nobody else even knows I am doing it.

    Just thought I would share.

    Day 11—ABQ—CD

I’m a little worried about keeping up my exercise routine. I thought I would ride my bike to work 2-3 days a week, but this week I was almost hit twice by people entering intersections too late or too early, and I was buzzed once by a guy with a trailer. Scary, and will only get scarier as the mornings and evenings get darker. On the other hand, this is the week of International Balloon Fiesta, where the city’s population grows by 300,000, so maybe that explains the wackiness. I noticed a California license plate on the too-late car.

    @coda—Hell is a brightly-lit dressing room.

@dykask—I’m sorry you feel so bad: take care of yourself.

@belfastsink, @lindasue and @flourbaby—Love the GBBO! My OH loves watching food and cooking shows but on FDs either I have to commandeer the TV or do something else. I find that reading is a great way not to binge or eat when I’m not hungry. I guess because it occupies my mind better than television does.

    Day 11, Emden Germany, NFD
