Well back off Holiday today and had a total fabulous time, the test of a good holiday is after 17 days off and im still not ready to go back to work.
Back with a fast day tomorrow and a big push to shift what I’ve put on. Not sure who’s hosting but can I please join mid month. I’ll post my weight tomorrow 😉😭. Hope everyone is well.
Off to bed as I don’t know where my body clock is at all must be 14 hours without sleep.

    @at thank you! 😊

    I think I am whooshing

Eliminating much more liquid than I drank

Unable to leave the house, been like this for 3 days

    Is that weird?

Day 12 SW WA USA – NFD

Enjoying a few treats on this NFD but will be ready for a FD tomorrow. I’ve been saving a Canadian Coffee Crisp bar for the right day. I bought it while up visiting family in BC in October when I was going for a no sugar stretch. Still doing mostly no sugar; just the occasional treat.

@leggit – B2B2B stands for back to back to back of fasting days. B2B would be 2 days of fasting B2B2B would be 3 days.

@at – on the topic of meditation, I’m glad you and your friends had a conversation about it following your “training”. It makes me think of Joshua in the Old Testament where a reminder was given to remember to meditate and on what to meditate. In our present day we sometimes forget the value of the practice. I try to incorporate it into the beginning of my day 🙂

Remember, that together we are stronger!

Like @toddybear I am starting tomorrow and hope it is not to late to join! Have been thinking about this for a long time and now it is time to do something about it.

@borealis and @toddybear, it is never to late to join. In fact you’re right on time! Welcome to the 5:2 forum. We’re happy to see you here! I hope you have as much success with 5:2 as I have. And don’t be shy about jumping into any of the conversations.

Day 13 Gold Coast, Aus FD

Had a crazy NFD yesterday, went to the Workforce Orientation Workshop as a volunteer for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. It was awesome. But meals were all over the place, so I got some nuts and water at the venue. I stood in front of the vending machine with the chocolate bars calling my name, but remembered in time to stop and consider where I am going, and turned away. LFD today, so back on track.

Thank you so much @califdreamer ! Look forward to the 5:2 journey, especially since finding this great forum 🙂

@toddybear and @borealis – you will find this group to be very active and supportive! I’m on maintenance (have been nearly a year) but have chosen to stay with them because they are so wonderful!

For anyone interested in “Murder- Orient Express” costumes, here is a fascinating article:

    2nd post Day 13

Spent a relaxing couple of hours hand watering my garden before the heat of the day arrives. Looking forward to the first hot day of the season. I love the heat but then look forward to the cooler weather. I also love the cold. I cannot imagine living without the change of seasons. Each brings its own pleasure.

Welcome to our new members @borealis and @toddybear. This is a very safe and supportive international forum. Begin each post with the calendar date, no matter where you are on your fasting journey and your geographical location. Some of us in the southern hemisphere are a day ahead of the northerners.

@mjrbcd44 I just finished writing a long post with reference to maintaining weight and I lost the post because my internet connection failed. Fellow Australians will be able to identify with current frustrations. I usually copy as I go but failed to do so in time. I’ll try to address your query about the 6000 calories when I have time.

    Day 13 – Japan – IFD 81.9kg

Intermitted fast day because I’m traveling to China later today. I’m not planning on fasting in China as I want to spend as little time in bathrooms there as possible. Japan has totally spoiled me when it comes to bathrooms. Even when I travel to the states I find the bathrooms typically of the level you might find in a public park in Japan. China is even a step down from what is in the USA. So I’ll enjoy lots of fruits and vegetables but avoid the high powered fasting.

I hope everyone has a great week. Till next week then.

    Day 9 – NFD
    Day 10 – NFD
    Day 11 – NFD
    Day 12 – NFD
    Day 13 – FD
I’ve been a bit busy and very lax with updating so need to catch up on everyone’s posts. Went to my cousin’s wedding The dress fit! Perhaps not comfortable – but the zipper closed. Woohoo! I just looked at my profile and noticed the “hoping for a miracle” comment. Not sure if miracle is the right word as it has been work on my part to change my lifestyle, not a product of divine intervention. Maybe the miracle is that I now believe I can do it? The weight loss may have slowed down but I am so very close to my original goal weight and believe that I can get down to a weight that this body has not known for decades.

Day 13, FD, New Zealand. Felt no hunger today so that’s good. Just cold! Wrapping up wArmly at home now.

    Day 13, Germany, FD

    Day 13, UK, NFD

And I’m in the 70s. 79.2kg to be exact. This is my lowest weight since 1990, so I’m chuffed! Still a punctured spare tyre round my middle, Which will hopefully be gone by the time I’m in the target range. Off travelling again this afternoon, but hopefully this is the last week this year. The plan for the next few days is

    14 – FD
    15 – NFD
    16 – FD

    Have a great week everybody!

    Morning all

Sorry I am having a hectic few days. Havent yet managed to post from the weekend or see any ones comments. I will try and catch up tonight.

    Day 11/12/13 NFDs

and I am dreading the intakes. Its my daughters birthday today and planning for cake and a meal out. I am worried to even go near the scales, but I am hoping to do well on the fast days this week and hoping to get back on track.

hope u r all well and happy

    Day 13, Norway, FD

    Good moring all,

Finally another FD coming up. Feels its been a while since my last, cause i did monday and wednesday last week. Feels like ive been having eating bonanza. I do my weigh in on tuesdays and fridays…but i had to do it today aswell, i was so affraid i was back to day 1…. phu!! i wasnt. Up 400grams from my lowest, so no worries. Feels like i’ve been eating since my birthday on thursday.

Bought myself a new Pukka tea: Three licorice, and with a few drops of natreen (4kcal pr 100ml!!) i use 10 drops…keeps me happy for now.

Just a note, i’ve been doing this 5:2 since July 31, NOBODY has commented on my weightloss of 8kg, and about 10cm on my waist… I cared in the beginning, now i dont anymore. It would actually be quite fun if i could keep loosing, and then one day just put on some tight clothes and look hot 🙂 i still wear my old clothes, so i dont blame them for not seeing any difference really.

Well, onwards and downwards, looking forward to a good FD today, and a CD the next days until next FD.

    Day 13 UK FD

Congrats on getting into the 70s BigViking :))

    Day 11, Brussels, NFD
    Day 12, FD
    Day 13, NFD

    Good morning everyone 🙂

I’ve skimmed through all the weekend posts, I don’t generally go online on the weekend if I can avoid it so sorry for not posting 😉

I added an FD yesterday and will be doing alternate FD this week. I’m finding it easier especially if I’m busy. Also the “side effects” on the NFD (sweet cravings, headaches, nausea) I was getting have also eased.

Seems I’m slowly settling into this WOL

Not too worried about today, I don’t count calories on my NFD, after 20 years of counting calories or WW points I’m a bit fed up with it all so I only count calories on FD. I’ll see at the end of my 1st month how that works for me and adapt if necessary 😀

    Have a good day !!

    Day 13 Belfast FD
@califdreamer – this WOL has opened my eyes to many things – Reece’s pieces and now dessert pizza! I’m not a regular pizza eater, but that would be hard to go past! Yes, I too find it hard to control that sugar demon. As long as I don’t eat any I’m fine…..!
    @SteveToon welcome back
Thanks for the link @songbirdme – I’m hoping to go with DH ON Tuesday.
Congratulations to you @tsubaki for wearing that dress
And to you too @bigviking for that low. It’s a great feeling!
@ Rainbowsmile my heart goes out to you my friend. Life couldn’t have been harder for you. You’re in My thoughts and prayers. Xo
@maayyaa – I think people are scared to comment because it’s too politically incorrect. When I first started to put on weight I remember someone asking me if I was pregnant and I was mortified! I should have taken the bull by the horns then! I think you should go and buy a couple of new items to wear, just for your self esteem.
Thanks for the pocket list; I’m adding myself

Well – here goes! Day 1 UK for me!
Poached egg with spinach for breakfast…. fingers crossed!

    Day 13,Germany, FD
@bigviking yeahhh! Congratulations on that big milestone!!!
@StephieS I feel like you on counting calories… I still haven’t weighed in and will wait until the end of November, so that will show if next month I will stick to it or will turn to counting…
By the way, I really like the not weighing so far! Feels more free, less stress for me!
Today is a FD and a very full day, so I should do fine. Prepared some “Fenchel” (? fennel?, veggies…) for lunch and will try to save most of my calories for dinner. By now I really start enjoying my FDs because it somehow feels so safe!
@toddybear @borealis welcome to this forum, great that you’re in!! I am also new to this group since November but have been doing 5:2 since February (funny, I counted my FDs so far, it’s my 81st FD today 😊)
@onehealthyhigh so sorry your post didn’t come through! I know that problem… I also would be very interested in information about maintenance!! So am looking forward to your share!!

    DAY 13, BELFAST, NFD

    Good Morning Everyone ! 🙂
    Day 13th – Fast Day
    physical location – Mumbai, India.

Started my day with skipping breakfast.
Now having Oats , green salad and papaya cubes in lunch. reached aprox 238 calorie.

    Going good !
    Cheers 5:2 WOl family ! 😉

    Day 13 Wales FD

Kept a controlled grip over the weekend, now ready for a good FD. My happy thought for the day is only 18 sleeps to my holiday – the count down has begun!

    Have a good day everyone.

Day 13 FD – Brisbane, Australia

You know what I love about this WOL? I love that on the weekend I can relax and eat pretty much what I want, then during the week I do two fast days and by Friday my weight is lower than the previous Friday. In saying that I don’t go completely crazy on the weekend but I do have some nice treats, or a dinner out. I certainly eat less now than I was a few months ago and no longer crave sweets or junk food. This WOL works for me!

@stephies I don’t like to calorie count either. On my FD’s I have liquid only until dinner which is either grilled chicken and vege/salad or grilled salmon and salad. That way I know I am under 500 cals without having to count. The other week days are just sensible, healthy eating with no snacks between meals.

@anna6 I think I would like to come and eat at your house, that sounded absolutely delicious.

@at I thought it was Life is short….eat dessert first 😉

    Welcome to the newcomers.

    Have a good week everyone.

    Day 13, South Wales, FD

Right, back on the wagon after a very indulgent weekend! Too much cake…pretty delicious though. This week is a crazy busy with work and travelling, but hopefully this should keep my mind off hunger. Apologies if I don’t post much, will catch up later in the week.
    Good luck all!

    Norway, Day 13, FD

So I have been sick for the last two weeks and have not had any FDs during that period 🙁 I feel so lost, like I have fallen off the wagon. My motivation is lost too. But I am leaving for Sydney, Australia in THREE days, so I am having 2 or 3 FDs this week to try to make up for the last couple of weeks. An when I am back from that 10 days holiday I hope my motivation will come back and stay there throughout December. And the rest of my lofe of course.

Anyway, feels good to be fasting again, even without motivation. I have not dated to step on the scale, I don’t want to know the damage of the two weeks off.

    Hope everyone are well!

    Day 13…..Florida……FD

Last day at home before I head back to work for two days then fly up to NY for 3 days. It’s gonna be a crazy week!
I plan on fasting all 3 days before I leave because there is so much food, I like to enjoy.

I just want to put my two cents regarding the 6000 calories a week. It actually is not as bad as it sounds. On my good weeks, I’m around 7000 calories for the week.
Breaking down the math, the calorie count makes sense. I fast three days a week at 500 calories x 3 equaling 1500 calories, that leaves me with 5500 calories for 4 days. Dividing that out leaves me at 1375 calories per day which is my TDEE.
To figure out your total calories intake you would first find out your TDEE. Multiply you TDEE by the number of NFD a week. Then add 500 for how many FD, you have in a week.
So it will look like this…. TDEE x # of NFD + 500 x # of FD = total number of calories per week.

I know you probably wonder why I broke down the math, like this….. Well it is for my friends who are secretly bad at math.

A warm welcome to our newbies! You gonna love it here. Got questions? We got answers, don’t be afraid to ask. Had a bad day… vent away! Had a spectacular day….. ohh we want to hear those too……. we are so much more than a place to talk about this WOL, we are friends who want to support you through it all….. the good, the bad and the ugly!

Okay, I’m off to face the day!

I do not have ducks 🦆
    I do not have rows!
I have monkeys 🐒 and they’re running the circus!

    Day 13- Colorado USA- NFD

Impossible to fit in FD while Mom is visiting. SO MUCH FOOD🙄 I’m not stepping on the scales until she leaves. I’ll assess the damage then & calmly hit the re-set button. It’s all worth it to spend time with her!

@songbirdme – went to see Murder on The Orient Express. Oh wow! We loved it. The secenery, the costuming, the acting… all of it was enjoyable.
Thank you for the link re: the movie’s costumes. Very interesting how much effort goes into each outfit. That brown houndstooth wool pants suit Michelle Pfeiffer wore…yummy. Loved it. And I would never wear them, but the furs were lovely too.

Yesterday for breakfast I made the gluten-free, low-carb Bagels (the recipe was linked on this thread by a Fellow Faster. Many THANKS!). The bagels were easy to make & once split in half & toasted up…Oh my! With my Crohn’s Disease I have to avoid wheat & gluten. Bagels have been one of the foods I missed the most. But not any more!

My OH & Mom liked them too. OH even suggested they’d make great hot open-faced sandwiches. Hot ham & Swiss cheese with tomato slices cooked under broiler. Or deli turkey with havarti cheese, hot & melted. Yes! We’ll be enjoying that for dinner sometime paired up with a fresh side salad of mixed greens & veggies. Easy & healthy!

@bert1802 — thanks for breaking down the math. I also thought 6000 sounded low for a week. But once you crunch the numbers it makes sense. I’m a bit taller, so my # would naturally be higher. Off to figure out my own weekly total now …for fun & motivation.

Have a wonderful trip to NY. Safe travels to you!

    Day 13, London, UK, NFD,

I hope everyone is keeping on keeping on!!! I had a relatively CD yesterday, well below TDEE simply because I was soooo busy!!!

Glad to see you back and jumping right back on the wagon @steve toon taxi driver. I’m so envious that I do & I don’t want to hear all about the cruise!!!

Congrats @bigviking, milestones are just the boost you need to feel good about suffering a dry month……. Again!!!

Welcome newbies, post 1, day 1 will give you some info on the monthly challenges, even though you’re late starters, we all start our posts with the day of the month so we’re all on the same page otherwise I would be on Day 377 and our maintainers could well be on day 782???!!! LOL.

I’m in the counting calories camp, simply because I don’t trust my own judgement, I’m always shocked to find that muffin is 485 calories or that biscuit is 65, or that 1 tiny miniscule sliver of cake is a whopping 220 calories……………. Sometimes I could cry because I’ve peeled back the veil & the shock of finding myself overweight is no longer some mysterious big boned figment of my imagination!!!! Once I have some control I expect calorie counting to be in my past, along with entire packs of biscuits!!!!

    Stay strong everyone!!!

    Day 13, US, FD
November is proving to be a bit of a bust for me and – I know some of you can relate – I feel like I am losing my 5:2 mojo. All seems a bit too hard at the moment, but I suppose the good thing about that is I am very conscious of my feelings. Time to stomp on them and get back on track! I haven’t jumped on the scales (ha! If I did JUMP on them, they’d break) but my clothes are feeling tighter. 🙁 A very boozy long weekend, but I did manage to stop eating at brunch with friends, and even left food on my plate. I just didn’t want to keep eating, and I enjoyed the feeling of being satisfied but not uncomfortably full. Must remember that feeling too to help get my mojo back. AND I’m travelling with work this week which makes eating properly a challenge. And reminding myself of @at’s motto: “If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I was desperately wishing to be where I am now”.

And thanks for the link SongBirdMe to the costumes in Murder on the Orient Express. Looks divine!

Day 13 – USA (Illinois) NFD

Doing okay, just over maintenance, but I expect a FD tomorrow ought to fix that. How I appreciate our WOL.

I have an early afternoon meeting today where I am hostess. I made two cakes for it, one fairly low in calories (angel food cake mixed with apple pie filling) then the other is scrumptious pumpkin bars with the required cream cheese frosting. I just might have to indulge myself a little.

@happymargo – so glad to hear you enjoyed “Murder on the Orient Express” as much as I did. I have read some reviews that were negative, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

    Onward and downward.

@songbirdme — I try to not let the critics sway me on movies too much. We all enjoy different entertainment, which is why there are so many different types of shows & movies for the choosing.

For instance, on Friday we planned on seeing a movie together (Mom is rather limited in activities she can do, so the theatre is an easy choice.) The only show all 3 of us could agree on was “A Bad Mom’s Christmas.” I know, I know. It’s raunchy & cheesy & silly. The critics have slammmed it. But it was about Moms coming to visit their daughters for the holidays, so it’s perfect timing for my mother being here.
Oh my gosh! We all 3 laughed so hard! And as we left the theatre, others leaving were saying how funny it was. Everyone had a good laugh, and one part, even a cry.
We were entertained & that was good enough for us.

    Day 13 – USA – NFD

@mari84, hang in there! @happymargo, glad you enjoyed the bagels! @bert1802, I know you are in NY on business, but please try to enjoy! @SteveToon, welcome back!

    Day 13, Gozo Malta, fd

Today is the first of B2B2B for my husband and I. However it might end as a cd as I was out and had a smoothie made of fruit.

Thanks Aljomisaza. Yesterday I went over my tdee as there was some left over bruschetta and I ate three in the evening. I also drunk two and a half glasses of white sparkling wine. I like to drink wine on Sundays only.

Have a great evening everyone onwards and downwards

    Day 13 Akron OH FD.

welcome back @Stevetoon you were missed. Today is the beginning of the “maintain don’t gain” campaign at work. I’m excited; one more reason to stay on track.

Keep on keeping on every one.

    Day 13 FD Oregon USA
Definitely did not meet my goal of a CD yesterday. 🙁
I felt just the slightest entitlement…stretching the birthday from one day to “the weekend” and just slid right off the counting.
@onahealthyhigh I appreciate your time in answering my 6000 calories question, and sorry that the internet ate it. 🙂
@bert1802 appreciate the math breakout. I guess it also created another question though. You are fasting three days a week– and you are losing right? Not in maintenance mode?
If you apply the same schedule that you have to 6000 calories a week, it’s less than 1200 calories on NFD’s which seems incredibly low.

I know @at suggested that you should use your goal weight’s TDEE (not present weight) and I use “sedentary” lifestyle because I’d rather underestimate activity and my TDEE is 1535. Which is completely great with me. I guess I imagine a day, when I’ve hit my goal weight and I can maintain by averaging 1535 per week…am I living in a fantasy? And that weekly total would be way up at 10,745!!

Just trying to get an accurate picture of maintenance or if TDEE numbers may need further tuning. (Or are you all petite?)

And yes…I’m already dreaming about maintenance. 😄😄😄

    Day 13 California FD

I really need this FD after all the food on the weekend. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi all – day 13 fd – well so far so good but feeling more confident that I have in weeks.

Haven’t caught up on November’s postings but thank you @at, @debster251 and @onahealthyhigh for asking after me, to @bert1802 and @flourbaby and others who helped put things into perspective as I read your posts and gave me a laugh along the way. Sorry if I have missed birthdays, anniversaries and hope all are doing well.

I am taking just a moment as our server in work is down to do a quick post but plan to post more at some point about the total out of control eating, how the mindset can affect and derail us. How the feeling of perfectionism is so skewed, how procrastination also adds to the negative feelings. How important it is to be kind to yourself and cut a little slack but most of all if you don’t give up the dark clouds will lift and you start to see little glimmers of sunshine. It took a bit longer than I thought to battle my dragons but I didn’t give up and here I am! Also and this one is a biggie – we are not alone – this challenge group is testament to that – for that I thank each and everyone of you x

I have a new plan that instead of spending £1 on a large (90g) bag of crisps (the smaller bags just didn’t cut it) and £1 on my fix of midget gems if I feel the urge I will put the £2 into a jar and hopefully I will benefit 2 fold.

Welcome to all the newbies who have signed up. I hope you get a lot out of this challenge and you learn something that will help you along this sometimes long and at times a very bumpy road.

I may not be back to posing every day but know that I am lurking in the back ground.

@miraclelou thank you! I am on day 3 of no sugar and looking forward to it being easier!! I am on a FD, thank goodness! I am super prepared. I made tomato soup, have some veggies cut up and lots of tea! It is 10 A.M. here in Montana, I am going to hold off eating as long as I can!

    2nd post
Just dipped in again to keep motivated on today’s FD. I’m doing OK I’ve had 280 calories so far and it will soon be time for my tuna salad dinner so should be around 530 by bedtime. Hope all other Monday fasters are doing well.

@coda – good to ‘see’ you back with us.

Day 13, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Hello all, back to my three b2b days of fasting ! Looking forward to it, mid-day and all is going well. Got in my planks, some stretching band exercises, some squats and some wall and counter pushups. Drinking my green tea and happy as a lark! Will probably have the final bowl of the delicious homemade potato soup that I made over the weekend for dinner. Would have loved to have made cornbread with it but cornbread is a trigger food and I would have eaten the entire cast iron skillet full. Had one slice of hearty oat bread instead.

Hope everybody is doing G R E A T ! It is going to be an unexpectedly warm week for this time of year so I am soaking it in and storing it for January !

Day 13 – McMinnville Oregon USA – LFD
    Day 12 – NFD
Yesterday was a tough day. Family drama with my sister treating my niece badly about her choice of wedding dress, niece calls auntie (me) to intervene. Instead of a bonding moment with her mother she was met with judgement. We got things calmed down but it took a tole on me. My sister is very rich, domineering, and judgmental. It breaks my heart to see this dynamic, one I’m very familiar with. Needless to say it was a trigger for me and I soothed myself with food, the old pattern reared its head. Today I’m going on a LF!!

It is rainy and windy here but I’m going out for my walk anyway. 🌧💨 Hopefully it will clear my head and raise my spirits.

@maayyaa – I’m so sorry that I’ve not commented on your weight loss!! 8kg is phenomenal, I’m so proud of you. And thank you for speaking up.
@bigviking- Congratulations, you are an inspiration to me!!
@mari84 – Hope you are feeling better, have fun on your holiday!!
@penz – Hang in there, your mojo will return!!
@happymargo – I’m so happy you are having a good time with your mothers visit, relax and enjoy!!

My FD was OK, ended up with around 550 kcal.
@mari84 so good, you are posting! Motivation will come back even if it doesn’t feel like that right now! I am sure you soon will be back into your routine! One little step at a time and you will get there!! Don’t beat up yourself for what was and try to look forward!! All the best to you!

    Day 13 – Massachusetts USA – FD

This is technically only day 8 for me because I started late. Sorry if my numbering was messing people up!

Officially in my second week of 5:2 and it is getting so much easier! I am not getting the headaches and my energy is improving on FD. I really doubted my ability to fast because that first day was just terrible and I got a migraine. But eliminating carbs on FDs helped me acclimate quicker. And.. at least right now, I don’t feel like it is going to be too hard to keep this up! Hopefully my motivation continues so I can make this my WOL.

I also fasted yesterday, but it was not a complete fast – probably ended up with around 700 or 800 calories. Doing well so far today, despite it being a rainy Monday here in Boston.
