  • End of Day 9 FD – Luxembourg

Made it through another FD and quite enjoyed it. My breakfast tasted great and I thought dinner was going to be a calories buster as it had Ostrich and a creamy sauce but it turned out to be less than I thought. Total cal intake for the day was 572.

Plenty to keep me busy to avoid having to think about hunger pangs – sips of water and coffee kept me going.

Tomorrow is another day and I will try another 5:2 recipe for lunch.

    Day 9 North Wales FD

Day 10 Gold Coast, Aus CD

Yesterday was the first FD that I didn’t make. I felt quite unwell in the middle of the day (nothing to do with fasting) and ended up eating about 970 cals. So not a total blow out, well under TDEE, but still not my usual LFD. Today will be a CD, and make tomorrow a FD instead.

    Day 10 – Japan – FD 83.9kg

    (Year 2, FD #6) …

I’m really busy so the FD will probably just fly. Typically once I don’t eat breakfast I don’t have many issues.

Next week I’ll be in China. I’m not going to try to fast, but I’ll probably be mostly eating vegetables.

Day 9 Sarasota, Florida NFD I was not overly indulgent today but we went out for Chinese for dinner, which is hard to keep the calories down. I’ll probably do 2 CD’s and a FD to finish out the week. My best wishes to all!

Still sticking to CFD. Struggling and keeping at it.

Holding as steady as I can.

    Day 10 – Valencia Spain 🇪🇸- NFD

We made it. Beautiful city. Looking forward to getting out and about this morning, then to the race track this afternoon.
Yesterday was a strange food day as in no meals as such, but nibbles and coffee and beer later on. Going to have breakfast today but will try to skip this meal tomorrow and Sunday and break my fast at the racetrack with healthy food later in the day.

Anyway thus WOL ensures that we can enjoy our lives without stressing about food too much, as we can always reset.

I have not caught up in posts but will do so later.
    Have a great Friday 😁

    Day 10, UK, FD

Back home and stepped on the scales. 81.5kg, so things aren’t really moving. I could do with a woosh now!

    Day 10 NFD Luxembourg

Well. When I started this WoL on 31 October I weighed in at a hefty 92.6 Kg and I set my target weight at 80 Kg as I saw that as achievable in about 6 months. This morning I weighed an astonishing 89.6 Kg – 3 Kg loss in 10 days!

What has changed to cause this rapid decline? Well, to begin with there are the 4 FDs where I ate about 600 kcals on each of them, and then there are the changes that I have made to my normal daily routine.

I snack less and when I do snack it is more raw vegetables and fruit than cake and biscuits. I have never been a great lover of chocolate but I find myself eating one or 2 bits early evening – dark chocolate coated orange and lemon rind.

I do more exercise than I did before. I now make a conscious effort to get out at lunch time for at least 30 minutes. This not only helps keep the exercise up but also breaks the daily office routine and clears my head for the rest of the day.

Finally, preparing meals is a more orderly process. Rather than just seeing what is in the fridge and cupboard I now start with a recipe, collect the ingredients together and then start preparing/cooking. That way I eat a more appropriate amount instead of too much.

Here in Luxembourg because I am over 50 I get a regular check up, including a blood test at least once a year. Previously I have dreaded these tests because I knew that my lifestyle was likely to show up in a bad way in the results. Now that I have a better understanding of the results, thanks to the book, and my lifestyle has changed for the better, I am actually looking forward to seeing the effect on my blood test results – due in May next year.

    Day 10, Belfast, NFD

Good FD yesterday. Kept busy and had a nice yoga session at home. I need to get back into the swing of regular yoga…as much for the mind as for the body.

Family visiting from England this weekend, but will try and fit in some nice big walks to work off any excess! If it’s not raining here in NI, I really like this time of year…big scarves, all wrapped up, dogs running about, a pint of Guinness at the end 😉

    Good luck everyone today x

    Day 10, NFD. New Zealand.

    Day 10, Belgium, NFD

    Hello all 🙂

Yesterday’s FD went great, I ended up only having Miso soup then a hard boiled egg and an apple around 3.30pm as I was really starting to feel unwell. It did the trick so that’s a total of 137. Best FD so far.

Today made myself a green juice for breakfast, then had the silly idea of eating a slice of brown bread and cheese around 10am and I now feel awful and I have a really bad headache, maybe I don’t do so well with bread after all !

Planning on having a smoothie for lunch if I feel better… Will leave it at that for the moment while I slowly die at my desk lol

    Day 10 UK NFD

I am glad so many people liked my post:)

I went completely mad for fruit and salad yesterday. I got a fruit box to go with the veg box and the fruit is so fresh and delicious! Very different than the supermarket version. I had to try each of the five different fruit as soon as it arrived. I had never tried a persimmon before. I loved it. Must dash, behind this morning.

    Day 10, London, UK, NFD

Quick check-in before Pilates, Feeling ok after B2B FDs but took them both to 800cals…… and not in the healthy Mediterranean way!!!

CFDs are much better than nothing @rainbowsmile, stay strong and I hope you’re coping with your dads’ situation, I know how hard it is, my dad chose his time to go this July, aged 92, he refused all food & drink and my mum didn’t want him to be forced. Xxx

@bigviking, make sure you’re sloshing as you walk and all that water will bring the whoosh!! Just stay close to the loo!!!

1/3 way through this month and holding steady, hoping for a whoosh next week once I’ve got these carb cravings under control!!!!

    Hello Everyone,
Greetings ! thanks for hosting November Challenge @jessyoursize
I am from India. I became a superfan of Michael & 5:2 WOL.
    Really amazing,just found this forum.
I have started this challenge from 1st Nov 2017, have completed 3 fast day on 600 cal, I can’t believe, it working, already lost 4 pound.

    Happy and great November 🙂

    Day 10 Wales NFD

Good FD yesterday. Day 10, still dry! @lynned – thanks for the PLJ suggestion, its on my shopping list.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Days 9 & 10, Newcastle UK, NFDs

Gone a bit off piste the last couple of days. Dry Monday to Thursday didn’t happen this week. However, inspiring posts from @fatrabbit and @phil Taylor are just what I need to get back on track. Got a friend arriving this afternoon for the weekend. She’s the kind of friend that will inspire me to be in control. She goes home Monday morning and another friend arrives Tuesday afternoon for a couple of days. The second friend is my partner in crime when it comes to food and alcohol. Oh well, at least it’s only a two night visit.

I may not manage to post this weekend, will check in Monday after my friend has left.

Keep on keeping on. We didn’t come this far only to come this far.

    Day 10…..Florida…..FD

Going for another FD today as I was about 700 calories yesterday, so I’m going try for another FD to round out the week.

    Short and sweet today!

I do not have ducks 🦆
    I do not have rows!
I have monkeys 🐒 and they’re running the circus!

    Day 10, Copenhagen, NFD.

I screwed up yesterday, so it turned into a NFD. I think the lack of space between the two FDs is what made my brain and body rebel… Saturday will be my redemption.

    Day 10, Gozo Malta, nfd

I baked two mini apricot and cherry loafs and I ate a slice. It’s raining today here and I’m babysitting my one year 9 months old grandson as my daughter ( his mother) is at work.

I’m having fresh fish and rice salad for lunch and this evening I’ll have food to keep me within my tdee. I snack on fruit.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Hello all

Yesterday was a controlled day , went well. Today Day 10 last FD of the week. Not going well at all. Feeling sooooo peckish today.Trying my best to keep strong.
On the exercise side of things , am pleased, doing well. atleast half hr a day Insanity. happy to go back to insanity , absolutely love it .

Day 10, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Hello all – beautiful day and feeling strong ! Just went outside and fed the horses some grain, they were in high spirits and fun to watch.

Spent the day out yesterday with friends, ate at Wendy’s and enjoyed every bite. Had pizza for dinner but only ate one slice and was totally satisfied so put the rest of my half in the fridge for lunch or dinner today.

I feel high spirited as well. Did my planks at 6 a.m. – drinking coffee and enjoying the quiet before the day begins. Plan to put up the patio furniture a bit later which officially signals the end of the outdoor season around here. Time for reading and crocheting by the crackling fire.

Bought a lot of healthy food yesterday and hope to be maybe a few pounds below maintenance before Thanksgiving to give me a little leeway as I approach the holidays. I feel pretty confident (mainly due to this forum) as I managed to get through the season last year just fine. It is crazy to work all year to shed excess baggage then pack it right back up (and on) in a few weeks of excess. And that shock of so much “digesting” cannot possibly be good for our bodies.

Wishing you all well, a third of this month has already flown by.

    2nd post
A few hours until the weekend. And three weeks until I can have a glass of wine.

Stay strong my fellow Dry Winovember achievers!

    Day 10, NFD, South Wales

Caught (brief) sight of a new low yesterday morning, and maybe by next week I’ll be able to finally go under the 150lb mark, if I avoid too much over-indulgence this weekend!

Welcome @gauravm, sounds like your first experience with the 5:2 has been very positive. You’ll find lots of great support on this forum.

    Good luck all!

    Cornwall UK

Weekly weigh-in today and another 0.3kg down, total 1.6kg for the November Challenge so far. Could have been better this week, but not too bad considering I enjoyed Coffee & Cake and a couple of unplanned toast feasts on my Non Fast Days. And I don’t feel like a failure, which I would have done in the past.

I’ve been enjoying yoga now I have less of a stomach to get in the way. And did a shoulder stand for the first time – I couldn’t get my big bum in the air until now! One of the unexpected benefits of the 5:2.

    Massachusetts USA

    Day 6 (started late) NFD

Yesterday FD went well. Skipped breakfast and lunch and just had lots of a veggie and egg white omelet for dinner.

My question for the community – when do you notice you lose the weight? This is my first week doing 5:2 and I don’t see a difference the morning after a fast. I did see a difference two days after my first fast, where I lost about 2 lbs. I have gone through two fasts since then, but haven’t noticed any change. I am also thinking since it’s only my first week my body might have to adjust before I start noticing more weight loss. Overall, still happy with my progress this week.

leggit – I’ve only been doing 5:2 for four months, but my weight loss varies a lot week by week even though I have kept to a consistent 5:2 and don’t cheat on Fast Days. I suggest you just need to keep going and you will achieve the losses. I tend to be more successful when I keep some control over what I eat on non-fast days, especially trying to stick to eating Mediterranean-style meals and keeping the carbs low. Hope this helps!

    Day 10 NFD Oregon USA

Made it through my FD#3 yesterday and got to step on the scale this morning. 😊
Down three pounds but likely some water weight down too so I will be very happy with the same # next week. (At least that is what I am telling myself.)
Even more great posts from around the world… Honestly it is like reading a novel for me–in a good way. I visit Luxembourg, Belgium and Northern Ireland before 9am.👍

Not gonna lie the evenings on FD’s are killer. More because I am bored and won’t allow myself downstairs as it includes the kitchen and I very much lack control at this point and need to just avoid. Thinking I may go to the mall and walk around. Weather is raining and blustery but inside the mall I could just stroll around and maybe get a coffee.
    Would need to NOT shop….

Anyone else find time moving slowly on FD nights?

    Good almost weekend all!
Ps@KerryAnn…Kodiak!! Oh I am jealous. Have seen its glory many times on the Buying Alaska show. 😊

@jessyoursize what a fantastic spreadsheet! its coming along nicely, shame i am not doing more FDs, too many work related and going out to the pubs this couple of weeks 😐

@leggit I have been doing 5:2 (and sometimes if I can 4:3) since Jan 2016. My start weight was 89Kg and I needed to lose loads for my wedding in August 2016 where I weighed 62Kg. On some weeks despite being extremely strict with the diet, i did not see any loss in weight but I could feel changes in ‘shape’ of my body (waist/legs/breasts mainly). On some weeks I would lose 2Kg which would be a big decline. The body works differently with each individual, but my only advice is that continue doing this as you will start seeing the results on the way along the road. It will motivate you and keep you going, but it takes a month or so to kick start the process so your body knows what is going on..

I now weigh 65 and I really need to get back to my initial goal of being 54kg. I am going to try and take as much off as possible in Nov hence doing this challenge (not going so well so far but hey) and then comes the fat month of Dec and then I will back on it like a car bonnet when it gets to Jan and try my best (including Dry Jan!).

Good luck to you and everyone else here. Last thing to say is that the diet works wonders and you just need to wait and see the results for yourself! 🙂 x

    Day 10 – USA – FD

@philtaylor, good to hear about your progress! @flourbaby, hold steady, girl! @gauravm, welcome! @missybear, keep on keeping on! @leggit, welcome (again!) Meant to post the other FD that it was 237 cals, so almost a LFD! I’ve been noticing I don’t really need 500 cals on FDs because of a lot of ACV with water all day as well as being satiated with the one meal I choose around mid-day.

    Day 10, Germany, FD
How funny, after reading page 12 of the postings, I honestly had to think about for a moment whether today is a FD or a NFD… lol. Well, it’s a FD and it went very well so far! Still under 500 kcal. Might have my favorite hot drink later at night if I feel I need something…
Yesterday was a horrible day! I was so annoyed from my kids (2 boys, 7 and 4 years old). I get so angry sometimes that it is really hard to step out of my anger again. It was a NFD yesterday and my rage really made it harder for me in the evening! Ended up ok though. Today I ‘ve been having a headache all day long. Perhaps due to the Glühwein (hot sweet wine) I had at the St. Martin Party in Kindergarden…
    Take care everybody!

Day 10 – SW WA USA – NFD

Good FD in the books for yesterday. Scale down a tad. @leggit – sometimes I find more loss shows up the following morning. Sometimes food is “in transit”. As someone mentioned, just keep on making good choices and it’ll show up. Also, the scale isn’t always a true measure. Clothes starting to fit differently is a great way to see differences happening. Pants I put on today as quite a bit looser though the scale only moved a little.

Off to a retirement specialist this morning. Looking for some clear advice & options. With things as they are at work, it seems it will take a miracle to finish through to the end of the school year.

We have today! Let’s make it a good one. Together we are stronger!

    Day 10 – 🇬🇧- NFD

I had my first mince pie today, 😋- must remember to eat in moderation!!!!

    Day 10 – ABQ – NFD

So yesterday was filled with many ups and downs, but I stayed strong and stayed well below TDEE! I’m proud of myself for not gorging, or even TOUCHING, the candy bowl still out from Halloween. I even didn’t have the cookie that came with my meal, saving it for my daughter instead.

AHHH, I am so excited and I can’t contain it! We’ve officially been given the all clear to start trying! They’d like to see me lose another 5-10 lbs, but that is totally do-able while we’re trying and even in the first few weeks after I conceive. And when I told my doc about using 5:2, she was thrilled! She too has done it herself (well 6:1) as a way to maintain her weight while going through med school. YAY!

@leggit @gauravm I see you have found the Google sheet and started adding info to it! Great job! Welcome to the challenge! It is never too late to start. I myself started on the last week of the Aug challenge. Please do remember to use the intro line to start all your posts:
    Day # – Location – FD/NFD/CD
The day is the actual calendar day you are writing the post, since we are an very active international group some people can be a full day ahead of others!
Congratulations on taking the first step to a better and healthier you!

@onahealthyhigh @awilson Thank you both so much. I am just so excited and I hope that I will be making a special announcement soon!

@awilson Congratulations to your niece! And you have totally got this, you are going to rock your wedding outfit and be the star (okay well besides the bride and groom lol).

@philtaylor – That is such a fantastic start! You seem to have a really good plan ahead of you and one that you can certainly maintain. And doesn’t it just feel so awesome to go in for test and be like – YES I AM GOING TO ACE YOU!! hahaha – or is that just me?

@yirrakurl I can’t take credit for our amazing sheet, I have no idea who actually started the sheet, but I know MANY of our hosts over each month has made changes and additions to make the sheet the beautiful one that it is now. But thank you on behalf of all of those who have hosted the challenges!

Day 10 – McMinnville Oregon USA – FD
Had a successful LF yesterday. Today is going to be a FD but not sure if I’ll do liquids only. Funny how I go to bed hungry and then feel fine in the morning. I’m going to keep the liquids going as long as I can today. Maybe simple scrambled eggs this evening.

@mjrbcd44 – Good job on the fasting, 3 lbs is awesome, sure some water loss but theres some fat in there too!! I go to bed at an embarrassing early hour on my FD. I’m so hungry and I don’t want to eat. Since I’m usually sleep deprived, it works for me.

@jessyoursize – Such good news for you and your family! Thank you for the encouragement, I’m feeling very motivated. 😀

    Day 10 California FD

Back from my business trip and thank goodness it’s a FD!

    Day 11/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Yesterday’s NFD ended with an out of control binge. Usually I don’t have temptations in the house but have visitors coming from interstate. Saddly I have no self control especially after a glass or two of wine. On the positive side I am once again 1.5 kg below goal weight. I’ve now been below goal for 2 years and 7 months.

My advice is to not think of this as a diet but as a way of achieving good health, weight loss is a bonus. After 40 odd years of yo yo dieting this is the only WOL I’ve found that works. There are some amazing results @fatrabbit, @at, @songbirdme and many others here. I’ve been following these challenges as an observer or member since @coda started them in May 2016. What I’ve noticed is those who are prepared to take each week as it comes and are happy to follow the basic 5:2, or a version that fits into their lifestyle, have the greatest success in the long term. Many of the sprinters who had committed to extremes or expected to lose weight without changing the bad habits that caused them to become overweight or expected to feast on NFDs and still lose fell by the wayside.

This isn’t an onerous routine. It allows flexibility. Nothing is off limits. If I want to eat something it’s ok. No guilt, even after a night of over indulgence. There was nothing more satisfying then looking back after my first 10 months of following the basic 5:2 and seeing 43 lbs gone! Slow and steady and no expectations.

    Wishing you all similar success.

    Day 10 – Cumbria UK – FD

Lovely morning for a hike then a drizzly afternoon and much colder – starting to feel like winter!
Treated myself to a manicure this afternoon and had a lovely polish “Masquerade” – perfect feel good factor on a FD…….

Good FD – lots of water and tea with skimmed milk during the day and a small serve of homemade seafood stew this evening = 358cals for the day!

@abfab5 – I actually prefer working out in a fasted state and have never lacked energy or felt ill as a result. Hope it all went well for you.
@jessyoursize – great news! and what great willpower on your Day 9 – those 5-10bs will be dispatched I have no doubt – Be Empowered!
@annemarilyn – good on you for listening to your body and stopping eating when your hunger was satisfied 😇Not the easiest thing to do………
@leggit @gauravm – Welcome to this WOL – read our stories on the first few pages of this thread for inspiration – A lot of us have found that checking in and posting daily onto the forum is a great form of accountability!
@songbirdme – thank you for the link – amazing the misconception that exists out there about what is healthy
@rainbowsmile – great job on holding steady – you and your family are in my thoughts ((((Hugs))))
@philtaylor – sounds like you are doing a great job – well done on dispatching that 3kg in 10days!
@belfastsink and @cornish-jane – I’m with you regarding yoga being excellent for the mind as much as the body – I attend 2 x 1.5hr classes a week and try to do a session on my own as well – I only discovered yoga 2 years ago and absolutely love the benefits
@Strawberriesandcream – I too had way too much 🥂over the past 2 days (sorry pocket winos!) but sometimes it happens so today had to be a FD 😉 Enjoy your friend’s visits – no guilt and when they go press that RESET button with a great FD….
@lindasue – what a positive and uplifting post – Life is good
@leggit – regarding your question – when do you notice you lose the weight? Even though the scales told me I was losing weight (I always weigh the morning after my 2nd FD as I thought this might be my lowest weight of the week and would hopefully be an incentive!!) my clothes actually told me I had lost substantial amounts of weight as they were all getting way too loose…..😄
@mjrbcd44 – distraction therapy on FD evenings are a good idea – be it reading a good book – soaking in the bath or a long phone conversation with a good friend…..and keep sipping on that water!!!
    @tlc2 – mince pies already……..LOL

Well catching up on the posts and writing my own has seen me safely towards the end of my FD – one last cup of tea watching Travel Man: 48 Hours in Stockholm with Richard Ayoade and actress Sally Phillips – planning an early night as I’m out early tomorrow heading out with a few of my yoga friends for a meditation Day Course – A balanced mind!

    Namaste my friends 🙏

@onahealthyhigh – we must have been writing at the same time – LOVE your post – Truly reflects this WOL and what it’s all about 🤗

    Day 10 North Wales NFD

Day 11 Gold Coast, Aus CD

Yesterday ended up a good CD, well under TDEE. Friday nights are usually fish and chips for dinner, but while I was working out how many calories that would be, I decided it was too much. I’ve found that it is really beneficial to consider the calories in a meal I am thinking of having, so I can change modify it before I eat it.

So we got some cooked prawns instead, and had cold prawns and salad. Yummo! And at only 6 cals per prawn, super light dinner. So we’ve decided we will change and have this more regularly (at least during summer) – we are lucky to be able to get beautiful locally caught prawns for a reasonable price.

Work again today, so will fast all day and have a light evening meal.

May we be happy, may we be healthy, may we be free from inner and outer harm, may we care for ourselves joyfully.

Day 10 Sarasota, Florida NFD @camcd I always pre-enter my FD meals into the LoseIt app so there are no surprises. I can make adjustments as necessary. I think I’ll get my 2nd FD over with tomorrow so I can have a more relaxed Sunday. Good Luck to all!

Had a great Fd Yesterday. I am a little out of control today. I have got to put the candy down! I am starting a mini challenge, to not eat sugar until Thanksgiving. It candy. I love it. Thank you for all the wonderful posts on this site! I love this WOL. If I can just give up sugar I feel like I can stay on track. My book should come today and I will try it next week! Everyone have a fantastic weekend!

Ok, so that FD went to hell in a handcart at 7pm. Turned out we were going to a quiz at my youngest son’s school this evening and a spud with chilly had been ordered for me. And there were crisps. And pretzels. And chocolate.

At least I stayed away from the wine and the beer!

The FD on Sunday can’t come soon enough!

@Mjrbc – nice job on your 3 pounds! Now I’m jealous of that! You’re welcome to come visit Kodiak anytime. We love to have guests to show around.

    Day 10 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Had a pretty busy day, so just getting to check in. All is well.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 11 – Japan – NFD 82.0kg

My fast day yesterday wasn’t as easy as I’m used to. However it was my fault. I read an online article about how a dash of salt is a cup takes away the bitterness. Well I tried it and it doesn’t, but it does make the coffee taste salty. I don’t mind a little bitter, but bitter and salty isn’t as good. Not only that but the salt seemed to have thrown something off a little in my fast. I never felt quite normal after that.

It is strange because I’ve had salt cravings several times in the past while fasting and have had a bowl of miso soup to take the edge off. However the salt in the coffee seemed to trigger the edge. It did seem to reduce the dehydration but the comfort price was too high. Maybe it was something else and not the salt. I can’t be sure. But I kept tasting the salt for a long time. It is like the coffee amplified the salty taste.

    Day 11,Germany, NFD
was happy with my FD yesterday and feel very good in my body! Even though I don’t count kcal on my NFDs I will try to go for smaller portions and to clearly stick to my bottom lines over the weekend! (3 meals / nothing in between, no sugar)
@murph58 hope your “little out of control” day ended all right! Not eating sugar will definitely make it easier for you! It’s only the first few days that are hard, then it feels just normal and relievs you of those cravings you get once you put sugar into your system.
At least that is what I have experienced for many years now. There have been those rare moments when I have gone on a binge though in the past years, especially in combination with alcohol, which probably has to do with the sugar in it as well. Once I have sweets it is so hard for me to stop (never was able to have just 1 cookie and stay relaxed!)
So I decided for myself to stay away from sugar and have it easier like that. I’m not willing though to not drink alcohol but don’t do it to often and when I do am very aware of the dangers it brings for me!
Hope I don’t sound like preaching, of course everybody can decide for themselves and I know that there are as well people who have no problems with sugar!
I am so happy to have found this forum – really helps me to stay on track!!! Loved all your shares I read this morning 😍
    Have a good day everyone!

    Day 11 – Valencia Spain 🇪🇸- NFD

We keep getting lost in Valencia. Finding our parking garage using Sat Nav brings us on different routes every day, driving in pedestrian zones, unbelievable narrow streets…..thank God my DH is the driver as I would just abandon the car and run off…..let someone else solve that problem 😆

Valencia is a beautiful and gracious city however.

Thoroughly enjoying it, but not doing so good on the IF….

RESET first thing Tuesday and I will enjoy my time here now 😁

    Day 11 UK NFD

I cooked the most delicious pumpkin mash last night and topped it with mushrooms and spinach. I was actually disappointed that it was so filling that I didn’t want seconds. I am still feeling full now in fact. I had read that the crown prince squash are the tastiest pumpkins and this confirms that. The texture is wonderful. I think that one might form the basis of Christmas dinner this year. I caramelized onions and peppers in olive oil with chopped chilis, turmeric root and ginger, and coriander, fennel and cardamon seeds and then added the chopped pumpkin with cinnamon and some chopped fresh tomatoes and coriander and let it cook until it was a nice consistency with a few larger lumps remaining for variety. The ingredients were dictated by what was in the fridge but this one is a keeper. I also fried up the seeds with some chilis and ginger and fennel seeds, leaving the flesh around them to caramelize into a gooey tasty coating. They are a good source of magnesium but don’t eat too many at once because they are a bit hard to digest in quantity. I regretted being a pig last time I cooked a pumpkin. I just had a few this time, although my sister had more with no ill effects. I will put the rest in a jar to add to salads.
