I’ve been doing the diet for 1 month (8 fasts) and have only lost 1.5kg. Is this normal? I seem to be more hungry on my non-fasting days, so am probably eating more – maybe this is the problem. Thanks.

Hi @amy 1.5kg in your first month is quite normal and actually very good. many peple find they don’t lose at all in the first few weeks. did you take your measurements (chest/waist/hips)? Sometimes in a week when you don’t lose weight you do lose inches.
You do have to make sure you don’t overeat on your non fast days. You can eat WHATEVER you like but NOT HOW MUCH you like. Have you calculated your BMR and TDEE? You can calculate this here http://thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-calories-on-a-non-fast-day/. On a non fast day you need to aim between these two figures. It may halp to track your calories for a week or two to give you a good idea of portion sizes for your non fast days.

Hi and welcome:
The average weight loss on 5:2 is about a pound a week. You are right on track:

Good Luck!
Looking over my 2013 diet journal. It was became clearer to me the fasting days added up over time.
Where I used to over eat 2-3 times a week. I was under eating 2-3 times and trying to be more active , with walks, getting a bike. You’ll see the results better through a lens of months rather than days or weeks.
I’m new to this forum too. I wish I was with this group last year.
