  • thks taletha i should know from a pack of sugar

David, on the 4th of July, it’s usually cookouts: hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, salads….Lots of different things, easy to prepare, easy to share. Some neighbourhoods have big gatherings, with everyone bringing a little something. Some cities and towns have parades; there are usually fireworks going off.

Another weigh-in: 3.3 pounds off this week! I know there will come a point when I will plateau, but for now, I am thoroughly chuffed!

Hi Gin, congratulations. I’m on maintenance now. I plateaued a couple of times and weight loss slowed down as I went but I still got there. I’m from Washington State and it seems the whole country celebrates the 4th pretty much the same way. I was at Costco yesterday and the place was selling mountains of potato chips and corn chips and hamburger and hot dog buns. It was quite the spectacle, those huge grocery carts piled high with chips and buns. I had trouble maneuvering past the chips as they were restocking potato chips at the time from a box this size of a small garden shed. There was a huge stack of gallon size potato salads in the dairy room. The fruit and vegetable room was very calm, not much action there.

And chuffed you should be, GinfromGA. I must resist the temptation to weigh myself until Sunday!

so which days did you fast-ginfrom GA? like charmaine haven’t done well this last 3 weeks so i will weigh in- i guess i was jumping the issue of carbs and cookies from my my mum and having second helps- i need to refocus

i meant i will weigh in next week

my weight tracker says i should be 197 and was 215lbs when i started, i am 189, so u could say i am still ahead of trend

dlroseberry: I miss Costco! There were some things there that I couldn’t believe anyone would ever need that much of, but a 5-lb bag of Pizza Rolls? Gimme!

Doodle Mom: I was very tempted to go by Matron’s office mid-week to check my progress, but I resisted lol Before the weigh-in at work, I hopped on the scale at home; I’ll be weighing myself over the summer holidays, so I wanted to see what sort of discrepancy there was between the two. Luckily, only a slight difference: scale at home is 1/2 kg higher.

David: I fast on Mondays & Thursdays; so far, there’s been no reason to change that – my weekly schedule is pretty regular. Once summer break begins in two weeks, I may have to switch a day here and there, depending on what we’re doing.

Afternoon my fellow 52ers. Weighted myself yesterday morning and I’ve lost 3lbs! Strangely, though, no change to my waist or hips. I don’t have a tape measure so used string and cut it to size (make do and mend, as we say in Yorkshire!). I used these pieces of string and found there was no difference. Has anyone else found this? Fast day today and I’m doing alright. Trying the three meals way this week. After having a Vanilla Muller Light with 20 raspberries and 30 blueberries, I’m about to tuck into two crispbreads each topped with a Laughing Cow Light triangle. Got the Tuna, Bean and Garlic salad from the book waiting for me when I get home. Will leave it as long as possible before scoffing, though. πŸ™‚

aww brilliant doodle. what a great loss. maybe you held the string a little tighter so now you’ve lost a little it still fits?? one possible. your meal plan sounds yummy

Well done, Doodle Mom! Great start πŸ™‚

Aww, thanks taletha and GinfromGA. Last week’s loss coupled with my prep week comes to 7lbs in total! I don’t know about anyone else, but I do find myself hankering for a bit of fruit on fast days. I think it’s cos it’s associated with diets you think a bit won’t harm. Of course even that’s a big no no on fast days. Oh well, at least I can stuff myself silly with it tomorrow!

Good morning and well done doodle mom and yes you can go for that fruit basket now lol.

Where are you Charmaine? You havent posted for days and a wee bit worried about you. Did you fall off the wagon or something?

As for me, well lost half a lb after yesterdays fast, was disappointed it wasn’t a lb but hey ho, that’s the way it goes. I can see it’s going to be a long haul for me to lose my last couple of lbs again. Being careful again today at work, just homemade veg soup because we’re going out for a meal tonight for my dad’s 75th birthday. Then tomorrow a half fast and trying to just drink fluids again until my meal at night.

Well better go and finish getting ready, have a good day all x

Thanks, Karen250363. I did have some grapes this morning but plan on having more fruit at home – just because I can! Have a great time tonight. πŸ™‚

Hello my dear Karen…started to write a congratulatory to doodle mom this morning and my phone acted up.

Doodle mom…big congratulations…enjoy the mini victory…!!! Keep it going.

Karen…lots of things happening plus it is that TOM. So lying low for the three four days. Im training today and tomorrow..offsite…so again will have no chance to sneak away and check posts.

Big hello to Ken and all…lots of good luck!!

    hi all
Gina and doodle mum woweeee get in there you two xx 3.3 lbs and 3 lb is truly AMAZING enjoy it ladies and just keep on going its easy peasy ( well sometimes ) ha ha , but seriously enjoy the moment ,
you both know we are all here for you πŸ™‚

    hope you are all ok
May the Calorie force be with us all ( Amen)
    love
    Ken x

P.S. i am so determined to loose at least 1 lb this week , so give me a bit of encouragement team x

Evening chucky-eggs. Thanks for your congrats dolce and lancsken, most appreciated. I certainly don’t feel as wobbly as I used to. Lancsken, I know you can do it this week. Sending you some sugar! (Only on a non-fast day, of course!) πŸ˜‰

    Good night all.

First of all go for it Ken, you WILL lose that 1 lb if it kills you lol! πŸ™‚
Doodle mom (do you mind us asking what your real name is by the way), the wobblyness does go eventually and this becomes easier the more you do it. You’ve got off to a great start and if you stick with it you’ll get where you want to be. Am I right in thinking you are from the States? You probably mentioned but I must have forgotten – it’s hard to keep track of us all now with our thread family being so big now!

Charmaine, I know you’re training with getting that promotion (and although I’ve already congratulated you on facebook, well done again) we’re all rooting for you to lose that water weight when you step back on those scales, keep strong, although you should celebrate a little (I would and you deserve to), and you’ll be losing again next week I’m sure.

Well I’m going to head off now but will check in later guys x

Hi Karen250463 and thanks for your encouragement. I do intend to stick with 5:2 as I’ve found it quite easy to slip into. Resisted weighing myself after Monday’s fast day! My real name is Sarah (I chose Doodle Mom as I am the mother of a labradoodle – in case you hadn’t guessed). I live in the good ol’ UK. The town I live in is called Elland (famous for the Dobsons sweet factory). This is three miles outside of Halifax in West Yorkshire. Unfortunately we didn’t feature on the TV coverage of the Tour de France but we were there cheering them on.

Sarah, you’re a Northerner like me! I’m from sunny (at the moment) Darlington. Labradoodles are so cute and the best bit, no dog fur to go hoover up! My cocker spaniel ,Harvey is leaving clumps of wine fur all over at the moment and I’m constantly trying to keep on top of hoovering it up. Did Ken ask you if yo do Facebook? There’s a few of us on it and we have a little group page for motivating each other, if you want to join send me a request. I’m Karen creegan BTW.
Anyway back to my sunbathing. x

kewn i need encouragement too, my consistent issue is the scales-the arrow ranges left to right to much its like you need to try three times and take an average and work out do you stand forward or back?

anyway i now have a shorter belt so most of my trousers can still fit and not be loose.

i would say your town sarah is more famous for the road on which leeds united football team are located! do you have lots of old stone walls? adds so much to the dales and “where the heart is” country i think

David, you are doing well if you are needing smaller belts, its how your clothes fit as much as what the scales say that are equally important I think. My scales are digital and I’ve had them a while so not sure how accurate they are, I tend to stand in the middle and stand straight not forward or backward. Often I get 3 different reading too though so I’ve seen me stand on 3 times and take the number that shows most often! The older fashioned type are not so accurate so I’d invest in some new digital scales if I were you and see how you go. Remember all scales weigh different though and you might be heavier or lighter on them.

on your previopus advice karen I will do weigh ins at weightwatchers after the next few weeks which are busy like the last few. but i will weigh in this week on sat.

    thks karen wheres charmaine?

    T O M i see now

No probs David. Charmaine’s got a big promotion at work and she’s on 2 days training so she might not post for a couple of days.

Davidrob, the road to Leeds United is NOT one I wish to travel along! I’m a Liverpool fan – a proper team πŸ˜‰

There’s plenty of dry stone walls round our parts. I’d really like to learn how to do it, actually

How’s everyone doing this week? Sarah (Doodle Mom), I’m in Yorkshire too (South), but I’m originally from the States – been here 4 years.

Ken, stay strong and whup that pound! Let it know you’re the boss! πŸ™‚

Just stopping in to say hi. I have been on a very long plateau over a month or more. Then I got the Fastexercise book and started doing the exercises and being more diligent on fasting days. Lost 4 pounds all at once. One of the fast exercises is to RUN up the stairs. {Gasp wheeze}. So I have been doing it for the last week or so. My office is on the 3rd floor. I was just walking up them before – now I RUN them. So today I raced 2 guys in the elevator and BEAT them. And I wasn’t even breathing hard. Let me tell you THAT is a first for me.
Hope you guys stay cool and strong this week.

Karen0463, ay up lass. Alas, if only the doodle fur thing was true. I have a daily collection of fluffy tumbleweed to deal with. This summer Biscuit has shed enough to stuff a small cushion! I’d like to know more about the FB page.

GinfromGA, whereabouts are you in southern end?

My dear 5:2 family, I seek your counsel again. What do you guys do on holiday? Stick with it, or sod it?

I’m in Swinton, near Rotherham / Doncaster, Sarah πŸ™‚

Aww Sarah I thought anything crossed with a poodle didn’t shed fur, bah! The fb page is a group page Ken created (I’ve no idea how because not that savvy), if you want to join just send me a request and I’ll ask Ken to invite you onto our page. Theres about 6 or 7 of us on it now and it’s nice to check in to see how we’re all doing. As for holidays, I said sod it for the 10 days I was away, I was AI, I’d paid for it so I was eating and drinking it! Consequently I put 5 lbs on and as of last week 3 of them were back off, not sure about this week because don’t seem to doing great weight wise tbh but I’m fasting today so we’ll see at weigh in tomorrow.

Anyway early start for me so better go and get ready. x

Gina i will “whup that lb” , as Karen says even if it kills me ha ha , Thank you everyone for your support it makes such a difference πŸ™‚

Doodle / Sarah nice to know your name , as for FB if you send me a friend request to Kenneth Livesey I am the one with a Rochdale AFC football shirt on = “Proper Team ” , i will then add you too our group , it will be nice to have you along πŸ™‚

3 Wishes your comments about the stairs is just fantastic , I am so proud of you x and I am sure everyone else is too , Get in there

Ok here is somthing new , a while ago someone ( sorry cant remember who ) talked about “Skinny Rice” made from “Konjac” ( an Asian Plant) well i foun d some in Holland and Barrett . its is very low in Calories and i for one did quite like the taste ( it probably takes some getting used to for most ppl) but at 7 !! yes !! Seven Calories for 100 g you cant beat it

I work as a volunteer in Rochdale foodbank and on Tuesday of this week a few sachets of skinny Rice and Skinny noodles came into us , unfortunatley they were out of date so we couldnt use them so rather than throw them out , i have brought them home and i am going to try one tonight , I will take a picture or 2 of the unopened package and post it on FB so all our group can see it ok , I will look more closely for a web site and any other information it gives you , and pass it all on , the one i am using tonight is not from Holland & Barrett, but it is ony 5 yes FIVE cals per 150g portion,

    watch this space
    by for now
May the Calorie force be with us all

DAY 3 OF (TRYING) TO FAST AND THE SUGAR WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS HAVE ARRIVED-SUGAR is bad for you apparently-still

    hi all,

david – keep going. you are obviously having good results if your trousers are all loose so you must be doing well with your exercise and eating

ken – they sell those in holland and barrett. found them a bit odd myself and was recommended by a friend to rinse them well before use

doodle – i would say sod it and enjoy myself within reason. like any diet you can start again when you get home. most of us wait a long time for a break from work/everyday life so have fun

    take care all x

Well guys feeling a wee bit down tonight. I’m sure I’m going to put on tomorrow despite not doing anything different than usual. It’s been really hard since I came back from holiday and I’ve gone down 3 lbs, up half a lb, down half a lb and tomorrow I wouldn’t be surprised if I go up a lb.
Anyway hope everyone else has had a good day, I’ll check in with the dreaded weight result tomorrow x

Aww, Karen, so sorry to hear you’re a bit down. I’m praying you’all get a pleasant surprise tomorrow. We’re all here for you, just say the word and we’ll be virtually there. :-* Anyway, this might cheer you up. Not all doodles have to be clipped. Our Biscuit, for example, shed enough fur to stuff a cushion this time. One stroke and you looked like you were turning into a blond werewolf! At the end of the moult we were literally plucking her!

Thanks, taletha, I’ll see what my progress is like this month to gauge just how ‘sod it’ I can be!

Ken, found you on FB & sent friend request. Good job blue is my favourite colour!

Davidrob, you made me blush! Not only do I follow a club (more than the lesser half does), I am also Club Secretary for a local youth team.

Today’s fast didn’t go according to plan. Stated out well but we had a training session that took me completely out of my routine (I’m a bit of a routine junky). I couldn’t drink as much and ended up starving. Had to have the pizza provided. I will, however, do tomorrow instead.

    Sweet dreams, all. Xx

GinfromGA, I dub thee an honorary Yorkshire lass. πŸ™‚

Thanks Sarah don’t feel quite so bad this morning despite gaining that half a lb back grrr :-/

Well my theory on labradoodles is totally wrong isn’t it! I’m imagining you starting your own business in cushions now lol! Harvey’s an orange roan cocker spaniel so mainly white with tan bits so I know where you’re coming from with being covered with dog fur, wearing black is a nightmare. Lots of those sticky rollers thingys come in handy though :-)Don’t beat yourself up about not completing your fast, I went about 100 cals over yesterday because I was starving last night, not sure if it’s hormones or what (I’m 51 so my hormones are all over the place tbh).Anyway that half a lb gain is better than I expected so not too worried.

So I’ve got today to go at work and off for a week, yay! Me and my daughter Becky are going to York for a girly day out on Tuesday and a nice meal in Loch Fyne so looking forward to that and the rest of the week I’m chilling out reading, loads of walking and trying to be good foodwise and hopefully I’ll get that half lb (hopefully more) off next friday. I’m sure it was this weight I plateaued at last time so maybe I’ll drop some soon.

Well better go have a good day folks x

Hello to everyone out there ,

Sarah and Gin I now have contact with you both on FB so I will get you on the group ok πŸ™‚

Karen its not just you dear , because I too have put on 1 and a half lb this week .
I need to be more Mindful of what i am eating ,
plus with all the support there is on here and on FB i know i will be strong and get it off again
You have a great Girlie day in York it is a beautiful City,

Sarah if blue is your fav colour have you ever thought of becoming a Dale Supporter ha ha ha

ok everyone i need to get into town this morning so i will bid you farewell and may the calorie force be with us all (especially Karen & I right now )
    Ken x

Hi guys,, I have had a very busy week,, all over the place but still managed to do 2 x IF days but yesterdays was a bit of a disaster! Work was crazy, I forgot to send an important document as an attachment and had to return back to work after getting half way home ( grrrrrr) so didn’t get home til midnight! My ‘ tea’ was a 2 finger kit kat, a slice of warbies small white toastie loaf and a slice of ham! Very naughty but I couldn’t be bothered to make anything,, back to being good today!

So glad to see you are all carrying on no matter how tough it is. Like others, I had a weight gain last week of 1.4lbs ( was gutted!) but almost got rid of it now. I do get heartily sick of ‘ catch up’! It would be fine if I was maintaining but not while I still need to lose a further 19lbs! I totally understand how Karen is feeling, it is so depressing isn’t it?

Good luck for a good day today xx
