  • I am having a lovely day at home today. After a week of lovely sunshine, today there is a touch of winter in the air. All these things I have to do but a day just for me at home was the most important.

Thanks for you concerns re my Dad. He is a very special man but I also have to realise he wont be around forever. I just don’t want him to go prematurely just because he may have something that is undiagnosed. I do worry that he is so isolated but that is the way he wants it so I have to accept that as well.

Being a travel agent is fun but alas, no free holidays for us. In fact we get offered “educationals” which entails 4-5 days in e.g. Fiji or Bali but in that time you get to visit 30 or so properties and share a room with a stranger, moving hotels each day. For this we get the privilege of PAYING quite a hefty sum!
I know in days gone past these were complimentary but not any more, same as getting a discount anywhere, sometimes they are offered as last minute deal if there are seats on a coach or a spare cabin on a cruise but usually you have to be a able to up and go in a day or so. Not very practical for many of us.

Not as glamorous as it sounds but I do enjoy it when it is not too stressful. I love it when clients come back in and tell us about their trip.

Lori, Yes grab it while you can and now that you have seen it there, even if the numbers are just flirting with you, you know it can happen.
I hope your Mini training went well. I know a few of the girls I work with (we are all over 50) are so resistant to any changes, even the good ones. I started late into the industry so was taught all the new ways of doing things when I studied at College but the others in the office still used the “old” system.

Cinque, I too love the sound of your garden. I tried growing veggies in my courtyard but the possums ate the majority of everything so I gave up.

Now to prepare a few meals for the week ahead.

I release any excess fat cells that no longer serve me. Cheers all.

    Hello!

Good luck to you, Kari! There’s not an easy secret to finding balance between social life and fasting, but it’s more possible than I thought. I’ll have a side salad when we go to lunch, for example….or just get a diet soda. I don’t have many diet sodas anymore but I do allow that on fast days. I know some people never do….I figure a couple a week is so much better than a lot of people and I don’t notice any ill effects. Of course you could have hot tea or coffee…..you can also juggle fast days.

Speckles, glad you got a day at home!!!

Today is fast day and I’m hoping to get off the water weight from the weekend. I hope after three FDs last week I should be able to do that pretty quickly….if not, I know from experience that sometimes it takes time for things to show up. It’s still a mystery but I’m convinced of it…..

    Hi all!

Kari, I wish I could give you some great suggestions with regard to socializing & fasting- I’m having a tough time myself. Some ideas are to save your eating till you go out and eat a modest meal or if going to a party, bring your own lower calorie item to eat/ share. If something comes up, there’s always tomorrow to start a fast again I guess. It’s not easy- I know! 😖

Spreckles, I had no idea that travel agents didn’t get great deals/free travel anymore! Geez! How disappointing!

I’m trying hard to fight off a cold that’s trying to get me. Lots of herbs & zinc. I still went to Pilates today but asked the instructor to take it easy on me!

Beautiful but cool day here so I’m taking advantage of being out in the sunshine while my bone broth boils away for my cleanse I’m starting tomorrow.

    Have a good day!

    Hi Salma,

I new to this just starting today 12/4/16, reading your original post, it would be what I would have written, I too am mid 50’s, going through the menopause, currently weigh 91kg and would like to get down to 76kg, I am in no particular hurry to loose the weight, just like to loose it sensibly and slowly. So watch this space xxx

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions! Fast day with no social interruptions went well. Miso soup with mushrooms, broccoli and a little tofu for lunch, a half dozen grape tomatoes when I was miserable mid-afternoon, and then some steamed cod, asparagus and a little sweet potato for dinner. I just started so I am going to wait a while to weigh. I’ve had issues with being a little obsessive about this before, so I’m trying to focus on how I feel and how my clothes will fit, rather than measuring progress ounce-by-ounce.

Speckles, I empathize with your concern for your father. We lived far away from my mom for several years (she’s 82 and a widow), and though she’s doing very well, every health issue worried me a lot because I couldn’t be there. I hope your dad has a healthcare provider who sees him as a whole person and can assess for undiagnosed depression or other neuro issues as well as simmering infection.

Cinque, I am so looking forward to gardening! Spring has been slow here, but the tulips are poking up and the leaves on the trees will pop soon. Can’t wait to get my hands dirty!

Have a great evening/day, everyone. Thanks so much for welcoming me into this group.

    Good morning ladies!

I did not receive any email notifications over the past couple of days, so I was wondering why everyone was so quiet. I went to the forum only to find that the world has moved on without me :). So many posts from many of you. I think thre is some glitch again with the forum.. so I will be checking the site rather than my emails.

Speckles.. I have a friend who is quite a bit younger 9around 40+) and he told me that a few years ago, he got a viral infection, but after it passes, he was completely tired and found it very difficult to go up a couple of steps or to drag himself out of bed some days. He got diagnosed iwth CFS and treated for depression as well as the drop in immunity. It took around 2 years for him to get back to normal. So, it is an idea to persevere with finding out what is going on with your dad and to make sure that he gets the treatment he needs. My friend is back to normal and functioning well, but there was a time when life became very difficult. So, there is hope at the end of the tunnel. I understand your worry.. I now have my parents here after having lived abroad for about 30 years, so despite the fact that I have extra responsibility, it feels good that I can help them if and when they need it, and I don’t have to worry about them from afar.

Sherry.. as my cousin 50 degrees removed (your words :)) you are welcome to join in Corfu! There are 8 rooms and as many bathrooms. The place is amazing and brothers-in-law are all good cooks, so we do not have to cook!! I have already booked the tickets and am getting really excited about this trip although I have a couple of trips in between now and then (one for work & to attend my son’s graduation and the other over Easter with a cousin who helps me with my parents – she loves Istanbul, so I am taking her there). thanks for referrng me to the correct page for “The Cleanse”. I will try to dig it out and copy paste it so I have access to it.

HAve I told you guys that I am taking a teaspoon of Turmeric every night with a 1/4 glass of warm milk before going to sleep? It seems to be helping with my “trigger finger” inflammation and I am hoping that it will help with my hipp too. I read so many amazing things about Turmeric, so I am putting it to the test.

Kari.. as everyone said, there is no magic to managing one’s fasting (or cleanding) days and the social obligations we are faced with. The good thing about this WOL (WayOfLife) is that you can juggle days around. I had a book club get together last night, which always involves cheese, wine and dessert, but I know in advance and do not plan an FD for that day. Sometimes, you just have to estimate and go for salads in an outing. On Monday, for example, I had planned an FD and then had to meet someone for lunch. I had a spincah salad and a beetroot/greens type drink (which is probably higher in cals), but only had half the drink and asked for the dressing on the side. IU then had a soup at the end of the day. I probably clocked up more than 500 cals for the day, but that is not a disaster in the grand scheme of things.. the damage is pretty contained. Generally, I keep the eating till the very end of the day, that way, I can ‘bank’ the 500 cals and I usually get peckish towards the evening rather than during the day when I am busy, and I can have a bbigger ‘amount’ of food so psychologically, I feel that I have had a proper meal.

Sharianne.. welcome to our corner. It is cool to have someone with my exact weight when I started and the same target!. I am now at around 86 (I haven’t weighed for a week). Since last year, I lost 9 Kgs and put back 3 and am working my way back down. I should have been far less by now.. but so what.. the way I see it, I am 5 Kgs less than what I was when I started. Better than being 5 Kgs more, which is what would have happened had I not started 5:2, right? So.. keep the faith.. expect ups and downs. Also expect to LOVE the feeling of control over your body that this 5:2 WOL gives you, while not having to go through the normal diet deprivations. We fall.. we pick ourselves up again and continue. Maybe this year, you and I will reach the magic 76?

Lori.. I am so jealous! Chocolate Martinis, beer and cheese seem to be your triggers DOWN??!! 🙂 Life is just unfair! I know how you feel about having to convince people to do things differently and “show them the light”. It is what I have to do here every day. Some days, it is just exhausting and makes me want to reach for the Mars bar.. Maybe I should switch to Chocolate Martinis?

Carolina.. how was your FD? I know form experience that 3 FDs in a week is no walk in the park, but sometimes, it is what it takes to reverse the side effects of too much indulgence. So, well done to you.

I wish you all a greeeeaaaaat day.
    Salma

    Good Morning!

Don’t be too jealous as my chocolate martini low weight has bumped up a bit. I knew it wouldn’t stick. I think it is the dehydrating effects of the alcohol that makes my weight artificially go down after a few drinks. My weight loss is quite slow, just 13.5 lbs since the beginning of the year. Too many treats and too much cheese! I’m beginning to panic about how much I’ll gain while on a 9 day cruise with my sister in May. I have to get over that and just enjoy myself. On a 7 day cruise where I eat anything and everything, I typically gain 6 lbs. So I’m hoping on this cruise I can be a bit more careful and hold any gain to 5 lbs. Perhaps wishful thinking.

A day of work, some errands to run at lunch time and then tonight we’re going to visit a friend that had knee replacement surgery yesterday. The hospital is about 45 minutes away and we’ll stop for dinner somewhere on the way. Suits me as I don’t want to cook tonight! Tomorrow at noon I head for my sister’s for a bit of R & R.

I slept in until nearly 6 this morning! The cat was outside and I enjoyed a lie in. Ahh…. When I’m at my sister’s, the husband will have to deal with the cat’s early morning antics! He will probably put her out at night if it’s not too cold. 🙂

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi everyone,

Very funny to have someone else here with the same game but spelled differently! Sharianne, is that your actual name too? Best of luck on your journey!

Kari, sounds like you had a great fast day. Good idea to hold off on weighing if it makes you feel obsessive. I go through periods of weighing myself daily ( usually when I feel like I’ve been doing really well & want to check the results) and other weeks I might only weigh once a week. Some people here don’t weigh and just go by how their clothes feel.

Salma, was wondering where you were?! Ahhh, if only I could do Corfu! Sounds absolutely wonderful, especially the part about all those men doing the cooking 😉! I hope you are seriously still thinking about joining me in Hawaii some day! We’d have fun! Sounds like you have lots of fun grips planned in the meantime! I so love traveling to new places!

Lori, you’re doing awesome and I’m sure you’ll navigate the cruise food more mindfully than you would have in the past and the damage won’t be too great.

Lovely Cinque, where have you been the last few days?

I’m happy to say my weight went back down to only a pound above my low ( I’d crazily gone up 4 lbs. in a week or so which was really freakish – again, think it was from too many nuts?). Anyhow, started the cleanse today with my big bowl of chicken bone broth with spinach and two eggs lightly fried in cocout oil. I made three big pots of broth yesterday to hopefully get me through most of the week- two are still bubbling away, as it takes about 24 hours to cook down. One pot I made in the pressure cooker only took about 4 hours and turned out awesome! Next is tea with lemons/lime juice, and ginger & turmeric root. Lunch is more soup with shredded cabbage & shredded chicken breast , afternoon snack of green smoothie (kale, celery ,parsley, cucumber, mint, lime juice & coconut water ), dinner is like lunch only maybe with broccoli or cauliflower, and then 1 cup berries for dessert. I’m doing this as much for cleansing my body/pain relief/healing as I am weight loss. Hoping to feel better & for a couple of pounds to be “released” 😉!

Bye, bye! Have a terrific day everyone!

    Sherry

    Hi Sherryanne

My name is actually Sharon, or Shaz. My middle name is Anne. My Mum used to call my Sharianne when, I was younger, so I occasionally use Sharianne as a user name from time to time.
Doing a lot of reading about the 5:2 Diet, to prepare for my journey ahead, not sure I am really in the right head space to start, but is there any right time to loose weight?!?

Hey all … Loving all the posts. So many of you are doing so well. I have been pretty bad. I don’t weigh myself but I’m sure I’ve gone up in weight the last couple of weeks!
I am fasting today and made a LOVELY salad. Am enjoying it now and thinking about all of you. The birds are singing outside … And I’m just so happy and thankful to have this healthy food I front of me!
May daughter made chocolate chip cookies yesterday and needed my help. Well… Every chance I got I was shoving chocolate chips in my mouth. Then of course I had to try the cookies … And they were great. But they were still warm from the oven and I like them cold .. So I put some in the fridge. But couldn’t wait. Had another…
I could go on … But I won’t. It has been over indulgence for me this last week!!
But I do love having a day to fast after such ridiculous eating. Thanks for that advice Salma and Cinque!
Is it true that chick peas, celery and corn burn more calories digesting than they contain? I put all in my salad. Quinoa, green onion, red pepper, celery, fresh basil and fresh parsley. Olive oil and lemon juice and Fire Cider (apple cider vinegar infused with: garlic, ginger, horseradish, onion and cayenne)
It is so good! Please tell me it’s still low calorie with the quinoa!!
Today we did a photo shoot of my products for the web site. A friend of my sisters is a photographer and has offered for a few years to take some pictures for me in exchange for products. Like a barter. So .. I finally took her up on it. My web designer thinks it absolutely necessary.
we have been painting shelves and hanging cupboards .. Getting ready for the opening of the shop. I’m pretty excited to be there and have some quality “me” time on a regular basis. 🙂
Hope you are all having a nice day/night.

    Hello ladies,

Briar Rose.. how exciting!!! I am rooting for you (get it? 🙂
I did not know you were opening a shop.. I thought it was a website for Herbs (Herb Monographs, I think) that you were working on.. it is so exciting. I wish you the best of luck.
I laughed when I read your description of baking the cookies.. that is me to a tee. So funny that we put in all this effort to eat healthy and fast and suffer only to go to pieces in front of a warm chocolate chip cookie (or two, or a MArs bar or.. or) .

Your salad sounds really wonderful. I understand there are 14 cals in one tablespoon (160 cals in a cup) of cooked quinoa.. so by my book, that is really low cal.. enjoy!

I finished a good FD today. a can of water packed tuna (around 190 cals) .. leek and potato soup (that I made and added chopped spinach too.. tastes delicious – about 150 cals) and a 1/4 glass of milk (approx 50 cals) so not doing too badly.. yaaay! I weigh in tomorrow, but I am not holding my breath!!

    Have a good evening everyone
    Salma

Sharianne, Great idea to do the reading and to prepare mentally. Not that it is hard but it is a lifestyle change but a flexible one. Are you Aussie? Shaz is such an aussie nickname for Sharon.

Thanks for your concerns and advice regarding my Dad. I am planning to have a good long chat this weekend as he has started on a CPAP machine for sleep apnoea. I am hoping this will at least get him a bit clearer in the head as to what is going on. Meanwhile I am doing some research so I have something to go to him with.

Quinoa, I have only had moderate success in cooking it. The packet I bought says seep in boiling water for 10 mins then drain but it never seems to be cooked properly. I would appreciate any feedback or cooking instructions please.

Keep up the good work everyone!
I release any excess fat cells that no longer serve me.:-)

    Good Morning!

Just a couple hours to go before I head to my sister’s for a nice long weekend. She has stockpiled lots of low carb goodies for us. Fasting will not happen, but we’ll try to stay fairly low carb.

Did 3 sessions of boot camp this week. Next week I’m hoping to do 3 boot camps and also resume running a couple mornings a week. I really need to get back into that as I’ve agreed to do a 5k with some of my boot camp buddies in September. It’s just a fun 5k that has the added twist of having a big inflatable obstacle about every quarter mile. 😉 What have I gotten myself in to? It just looks like so much fun so I said “What the heck!”

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. See you next week!

    Hello!!!

Good luck with the shop, BR! I love my cookies warm from the oven–hadn’t heard of someone who prefers them cold, haha. But I like some other savory type things cold that most people have to have warm….

Sharianne, I did more of a dive in approach. For me, it’s easy to make it mid-afternoon with no food so that’s what I do. Then, if I need it, I’ll have a cheese stick/turkey slice and maybe a little OJ if I feel I need something quick! Usually I don’t. I also allow room for a high protein snack in the evening, which is my challenging time. The first FD I spread it out throughout the day, which does not work for me AT ALL. After a few times you will figure out what works for you. Ideally I’d eat earlier in the day but that’s just not going to allow me to be successful.

Sherry, how do you manage a cleanse with kids in the house? I admire you!

Lori, I predict the cruise won’t be so bad…..just drink more beer, haha

Salma, congrats on the good fast day!

Speckles, I don’t drain quinoa myself. Usually I end up adding liquid in fact.

Yesterday I did not meet my non fast day week day goals! Grrr. I wasn’t terrible–just the usual snacking here and there. My daughter leaves a can of nuts out and I tell myself it’s healthy…that type of thing! I also wasn’t feeling great and just wanted to nestle and eat. Need to do better today!!!

    Good morning/afternoon/evening!

It’s nice to have this group to help solidify resolve for today’s FD. We went to my mom’s house for dinner last night, and she made ribs with strawberry shortcake for dessert. The meat tasted good at the time but felt heavy in my stomach all night. I had a half portion of the dessert but wound up giving half of that to my son, partly because I was full, and partly because I would hate to undo the effort of a FD so mindlessly with a few extra bites here and there.

Speckles, sleep apnea can absolutely contribute to daytime sleepiness and confusion in the elderly so I hope addressing that helps your dad a bit.

As far as quinoa goes, I buy an organic pre-rinsed variety, then toast it in the pan with about 1 tsp of coconut or avocado oil per cup of quinoa, then add liquid 2:1 (often chicken or veggie broth). I cover and cook for 20-25 mins like rice and it usually seems to turn out fine. I think the toasting improves the taste and the fat added is minimal.

Today is a FD and a busy one for work. We have eight college sailors (my daughter and 7 others) coming to stay with us through the weekend, so I have lots of cleaning and shopping to do today too! But I love having a houseful of kids and it should be a lot of fun. Have a great day, everybody.

Speckles…The instructions on the box provide for a 2:1 ratio of liquid to grains. I boil the liquid, then add grains, cover and lower heat for a minimum of 15 minutes. I sounds as though you’re just not cooking long enough.

Kario, your toasting in coconut oil sounds delicious.

Top ‘o the day to you ladies!

Just returned from pilates and I”m feeling excellent! I debated whether or not to call off because I don’t quite feel myself with battling that cold that is still trying to get me (but not really succeeding yet …yay!) and from the first day of doing the cleanse. Lots of toxins are released, especially in the beginning. which sometimes feel mild flu-like…not horrible, just not great. Anyhow, when my instructor heard I was cleansing, he said, “let’s do a cleansing pilates regime today then”. I rolled my eyes (inside my head) but thought “what the heck”. Anyhow, pleased to say I left feeling less achy and energized. I’m fairly amazed! 🙂

Day 1 of the cleanse went well and I’m down another pound…back in the 122’s. It would be so lovely to get to mu goal weight which is 120 even…crossing fingers and toes!

Carolina, funny you should say “how do I do a cleanse with kids?” because I was just thinking the same thing as I did all the making of multiple pots of bone broth, tea, smoothies, etc! I don’t mind that I have to make them separate food, it’s just the time consumption of doing all that extra prep for the cleanse that’s a killer. Oh well, it really is only a day or so of prep and end the results are so worth it. I’ve done it twice before this and thinking of doing it quarterly just to keep everything in good running condition!

Lori, the 5k sounds fun, kind of like kid bumper cars!

Shaz, Can I just call you that? I like it! Yes, the mental aspect is the most important in losing weight. When you get your head in the game, everything just seems to flow. Like others said, once you get down to it, not so hard. Just deciding which days work best for fasting and what you can eat and what time of the day you want to eat.

Briar rose, I agree with Carolina, I’m a warm out of the oven cookie girl, though I’ve been known to eat them straight out of the freezer where I’ve hidden them thinking that I won’t eat them as readily. Really though, as some of you might know, cookies really never get so frozen you can’t bite through them! 😉 When does your website go “live”?

Salma, congrats on the great fast day!

Spreckles, I’m hoping the machine helps your dad. Getting more oxygen might just be the ticket to clearing his head as you said. Let us know how it all goes.

Kari, great job at mindful eating while at your mom’s! Good luck with today’s fast. I hope you make it ok (eating and otherwise) with a houseful of teenagers this weekend! What fun things do you all have planned?

    Talk to you soon!

    Sherry

    Good morning girls,

Speckles.. I also toast Quinoa and then treat it as rice and it comes out fine. However, I turn off the heat about 5 minutes before it is done and leave the pan covered for about 10 minutes so it absorbs all the liquid without burning. I like the texture that way. Another way you might want to coo it is to use pleanty of bioling water and just drain it off when it has cooked through. It should not take more than 15-20 min.

Weighed in today and I am up by about 1 Kg (2 Lbs)! Sigh!. I am not feeling myself this morning and have sniffles and feel yucky. I hope the day gets better.

    Salma

Hello….I’d hoped to go to yoga today but I got the time wrong. Very frustrating. My favorite yoga class changed and I’m still not in the habit with the new options. I’m also having heart palpitations, which I’ve been getting the past year. Supposedly they’re “harmless” but when I have a lot I don’t feel so great. But I did get a short walk in and got some things done around the house and a few odds and ends for work.

My fast day was okay but I might have gone over a little. I still think I’m having some water issues and I’m hoping that will swoosh on off soon, haha.

SherryAnn, I called about my daughter’s passport today and there is a month wait for an appt and both parents have to be there and my husband will be gone all of May!!! Ugh. I dropped the ball on that one. I made sure my son got his over Christmas break and he had no wait for an appt and it came in two weeks, so I wasn’t expecting this! I’m going to call another town that may be better but for now I’m holding a May 31 appt time. I thought most adults renew by mail so I’m kind of shocked.

I’ll have to try toasting the quinoa!

Have a great weekend, everyone. I hope I don’t blow it!

    Hello everyone!
Planet Grandma was spinning so fast I couldn’t get off. They have moved now, but things were still so busy, and when they weren’t, I was just a puddle on the floor.
    Starting to feel more normal.

Speckles I’ll answer your question about CFS once I am up at he computer and can check out a link I think would be useful. (Propped up in bed at the moment with my iPad, cat and cup of tea).

I have been feeling so much sympathy for those of you with hectic lives and demanding families. I have realised how much easier I find 5:2 when life is quiet. A lot of what I do is about mindfulness, and I need to work on it with time and concentration. No wonder I love my Sunday fasts. Very difficult the last few weeks!

Kari, re eating and socialising, I always remember a magazine article I read years ago about cocktail parties. It said, notice how the successful people do it. They arrive late, take a glass, don’t drink it, just hold it and talk to people. They ignore the food, and they leave early.
This really hit me, as my notions of socialising were all about being faced with an amazement of food, feeling obliged to eat it to show the host you appreciated it, and worrying about arriving late, and when to leave!
So now I remember that the event is always about people, not food. That it is important that the host is appreciated for all her work ( his, theirs), but that I don’t actually have to eat anything.
This has helped me make better decisions.

Catz, I hope those nasty palpitations ease. Good luck sorting out the passport, so frustrating!

    Best wishes everyone! Welcome Sharianne!

    Hi ladies!
I’ve just finished my salad on day three of fasting. By day two I just feel like I can and want to keep going … So I did. Then today, working all day I just had a few mouthfuls of my salad … (I LOVE this salad!) and the day flew past!
Just had another helping with an avocado lots of lemon salt and garlic … And cayenne! I love hot food. Decadence. Pure decadence!!
So Salma thank you for your lovely reply! There is a web site (and I am writing herb monographs for it as well as a few other things) AND I am opening a little shop in Northern Ontario … Cottage country which means lots of city folk in the summer. It is really a work space for me but there is a store front so I figured why not?! It’s going well. Wish you could all see a picture. I love it there. Want to be up there every day making my herbal goodies.

And thank you to all of you for your wonderful support and understanding about the cookies!! Ha ha I am among friends here I feel:)

Hope the scale goes back down again soon Salma!
Cinque, lovely to find your message .. I was beginning to worry about you!
Catz, are the palpitations related to stress or anxiety? I’m so sorry. I know how awful they can be!
    Will
Catch up again soon all! Best to all of you!
Oh! I wanted to ask … Does anyone ever drink diet soda on their fast days? I know it’s awful stuff .. But I did have one today!!

Does anyone here use Instagram? I am
    _sweetsong_
Add a message that you are from here if you find me!!!!! There is one picture of the studio/shop .. And I may even add one now of my salad!!! (It’s definitely my go to now for fast days!!!)

Those are underscores before and after!

Speckles wrote: “Cinque, I am interested in your CFS. I hope you don’t mind me asking but how were you diagnosed. I know it is an iffy disease that is often not recognised but I do think my Dad has it. He had a very bad viral infection 18 months ago and spent the better part of 6 months in and out of hospital and rehab. Now he is sleeping 16-18 hrs a day and has no interest in anything. He takes a mountain of meds and lives on his own in the country so I am quite concerned about him. Was there a specific test?”

Speckles, I trace my illness back to a bout of pneumonia, when I was teaching in a remote community in the Northern Territory. After it I never felt well again, and was exhausted all the time. I blamed working in an isolated, challenging environment, I thought I needed to get my fitness up, I kept pushing myself. I moved to a less isolated community, then back to Victoria, then to part time work (Women’s Refuge, so still a challenging one!). Just when I felt I was nearly back to normal, I had my daughter and was back to struggling, with the relentlessness of motherhood meaning I kept having to do more than I was well enough to. It took 6 years and 7 doctors before I was diagnosed, and by then I was too ill to work (and still had a child to bring up).

While there is much better research being done now, CFS is still diagnosed by ruling out everything else, and whether you have the cluster of symptoms, the central one being that exertion makes you worse. There is good info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFS/wiki/might_have

I can understand why you are worried about your dad. It is really tricky because chronic fatigue is a symptom of so many things. It is a side effect of many medications, or of how medications react with each other. It is a symptom of depression too.

Most people trace the onset of CFS back to a viral infection, and many people with CFS find they are sleeping long hours (I’m in the other camp that struggles with insomnia).

One suggestion I have is that when sleeping long hours it is really easy to become dehydrated. Then because you are exhausted you forget to drink. It takes a lot of work to get out of that cycle. So it might be worth checking your dad is managing to drink at least a couple of litres of water a day, and don’t forget salts.

I think the info in that link gives a good overview of CFS and has links to more info. Please ask me anything else about it that I may be able to help with.

    Hi Carolina,

Yes, I’ve heard it gets really bad with regard to delays in processing passports as it gets closer to summer vacation time…everyone’s scrambling at the same time and there’s a backlog. We got our kids’ passports done about a month ago I think? and just received them in the last week. I’ve had palpitations in the past but more of an issue with “skipped” beats where my heart stalls for a few seconds (freaked me out!). Usually I’d feel it more at night when I was still and laying down. Since I started taking vitamin K-2 (not for that issue) it seems to be better…I think it has a blood thinning action. You might want to check into it.

    Hi to everyone else.

    Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening

What a lovely group to have joined. I will get used to all your names eventually, promise. But for now will write a general post and reply to all that way, I hope that’s ok. A bit about me:
I am English, I live just outside Oxford, happy to be called Shaz, I too have ME/CFS and possibly Fibromyalgia. I have had it since 1998, and unfortunately lost my job because of it back in 2013, after working for the organisation for over 20 years. I currently not working. Around the same time as losing my job I started caring for my parents, both in their mid 80’s. My Dad has lung cancer and a heart failure condition and is extremely poorly and my Mum has a dementia condition though thankfully at present fairly mild.
I am a singleton/batchelorette/spinster of this parish!!! Take your pick 😀 Positive person with a holistic approach to life. Hope I haven’t gone on too much.
That said, life is an emotional roller coaster ride for me at present, but need to get my head into gear for this 5:2 change!!!
    xxxx

Hi Shaz! So good to hear more about you and so sorry to hear what you’re going through. Wonderful though that you have a positive outlook. I can imagine that you’re on an emotional rollercoaster with all that you’re dealing with. There are many here dealing with similar issues, as you’ve probably read, and I’m sure will be happy to offer you support! I own a senior care business and recommended the book, “The Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s Care” to another on this thread. You might check it out online to see if it would potentially be helpful to you with regard to the care of your mum. Let us know if there’s anything we can help you with as you “get your head into gear for this 5:2 change”. We’re here for you! 🙂

    Sherry

    Hello ladies..

Enjoying a bout of cold..! Yesterday, I had to leave work early because of feeling nauseous and dizzy and it is developing into a sore throat and a cold. I have made the obligatory chicken soup, ginger and lemon drink, big dose of zinc, etc, but I guess I will just have to suffer through it (hopefully for a shorter time).

Shaz.. both my parents have moved here recently. My dad is 87 and mom 76. She has mild dementia and it is difficult, so I completely understand. Sherry, I have still not received the book despite having ordered it ages ago from Amazon. If I don’t get it that way, I will buy it when I travel to the States next month. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Cinque.. it is really nice to see you back here.. and I do hope you get some rest.

Hello to everyone else. I hope y’all have a nice weekend.

    Salma

Just popping in for a quick Hello. Typing on my phone, so this will be short.

Having a nice visit with my sister and yesterday had dinner with my niece and great niece(age 8). Today we’re doing a bit of shopping in the nice downtown area near here. Lots of cute shops.

I’m up early having a cup of coffee. The sun is shining brightly and it’s going to be a lovely day.

    Talk soon!

Happy Saturday everyone! Thanks for the good tips and support about managing a FD in social situations. I’d mentioned that we are hosting 7 college sailors and my mom, who lives near me, is hosting another 3 (my daughter and her teammates). So it’s been fun but busy to cook breakfasts and dinners and have a packed-full house of nice young people!

I did pretty well with my two fast days last week, and I don’t think I overdid too much on the other days. I did have a small dish of ice cream yesterday but it was my lunch — I think the calories netted out.

So far, I’ve found that some miso broth with mushrooms, broccoli, and a little tofu is pretty satisfying for a mid-day meal. I can come in under 100 cal and still get a big warm bowlful. As our weather warms up, I might need to switch to salads!

Some of you have really been on tremendously challenging health journeys. I frankly can’t imagine trying to fast while feeling ill or overwhelmed with fatigue. Amazing!

Have a great day/evening! I’m working a little this morning then off to watch sailing!

Salma, that’s exasperating that you still have yet to receive that book! 🙁
Where are you visiting in the states when you come out? Is it business or pleasure? Here’s hoping you’re able to fend off the cold soon. I’ve been mostly successful at keeping mine at bay with the same things you’re using. I think the thrice daily dose of chicken bone broth may have helped too! 😉

Lori, what a nice visit you’re having…enjoy! How’s the low carb eating plan you had with your sister going?

Kari, have fun with your giant houseful of guests! Are they in a sailing contest did you say? If so, hope your group is successful.

Just finished a walk with the OH and now hanging some stuffed animal toy hammocks in the twins’ room in an effort to coral the million stuffed animals they’ve acquired who have now completely taken over their beds….and I mean it literally, they only have a small slice of bed left to sleep on! It’s hysterical! Later we have my great nephew’s 1st birthday party bbq. It’s a pool party. I hope the pool is heated because it’s still a tad cool out our way.

I’ve lost another pound on the cleanse so down about 4 lbs since about a week ago when I’d had that freaky gain (I’m guessing it was 2 lbs. of “fluff” weight…the kind that hasn’t really stuck yet). We’ll see what the end result is when I’ve finished on Wednesday (and whether or not it sticks or I trend back up as I get back to semi-normal eating!).

    Have a great Saturday/Sunday (Aussies!)

    Sherry

Hi Briar Rose, I haven’t got into Instagram yet. I think I need to for my food project, so eventually I will do it and find you!

Lori, what a lovely message, your visit sounds fun.

Hi Shaz, fellow CFSer. It is hard being a carer when you really need a carer yourself. I hope you can manage to fit 5:2 in okay, you will love losing that excess weight.
I read your profile and I am like you and avoid calling 5:2 a diet. Although sometimes I do by accident! I call it ‘light fasting twice a week’ usually.

Sherry aren’t those stuffed toys a trick. They seem to multiply all by themselves! So glad your cleansing diet is working so nicely!

Salma I hope that cold is a short mild one! So glad you are able to do so much to look after yourself. And may that book arrive on Monday!

Kari your socialising sounds great fun. And you seem to be getting through it very nicely!

Catz, I hope the water issues swooshed off! 😉

I’m having a lovely Sunday fast. It is a beautiful sunny day and I am making some dashi for my miso soup this evening.

    Best wishes all!

Hello, I’m new here. Early 50s and always been chunky but have really piled on the pounds over the past few years. Have tried many diets over the years. I lost
11kg following a well known diet plan last year but got really worn down constantly thinking about which free food I could gorge on next, and i’ve put on 3kg since christmas. I love all the wrong things, sorry but fat free things taste ok but not nearly as good as the full fat stuff😊 I really believe weight loss is a state of mind, so a change to reinvigorate my will to succeed can only be good. I’m currently 90kg and would like to be 70kg. I actually want to lose weight for my health rather than how I look these days, I will never look ‘slim’ as I have the wrong body shape, bottom heavy, chunky thighs and big bottomed. I accepted that years ago, it was really hard because when I was young i was really affected by all the ‘perfect’ body image that we are constant!y exposured to, it really used to get me down, I can NEVER look like the women who used to make me feel bad about how I look, these days my cholesterol a bit high and I have a ‘fatty liver’ apparently and I get puffed walking up stairs so I want to FEEl good, looking good too would be a bonus. So here goes 5:2, also gonna step up the old exercise by getting off the bus 1 stop early and walking up the stairs at instead of taking the lift. I really want to do this by the time I’m 55, just over a year away, the only thing stopping me is me.

So much going on if you don’t check I daily!

Firstly thank you everyone for your concerns regarding my dad. The good news is the CPAP machine seems to have helped but I believe it will take a couple of weeks to make a real difference. He sounded better on the phone and apart from one night when the dog decided to position herself on the oxygen tube, he has had better quality sleeps. I am going to still follow up with the CFS as he hasn’t been himself since he had the virus and I don’t think his tiredness is completely due to sleep apnoea.

Also for the great info on Quinoa, the instructions on the box are obviously wrong and I will try it again as I do enjoy the taste. Also definitely want to try it toasted.

Cinque, it is nice to have you back and I do hope you get some rest soon.

Welcome Cocopops, you will find this is a way of life rather than a diet which is really great. AND you will get all the support you need right here! Good luck with your first cleanse. I am 54 and like you am realistic about what I want, I will never be a slim person (on the outside)but I want a number on the scale I am can work with and a healthy body most of all.

My hat goes off to all of you with families you have to cook for and look after. Being on my own does make it easier to eat when and what I choose to. – that also goes for the not so healthy stuff so I suppose it is a double edged sword. I just know how hard it must be to cook one dinner for some then have a salad or soup yourself.

Lori, Cruising doesn’t have to mean putting on weight or overeating. I cruise a lot and have found that the best way to do it is to skip lunch. On day 1, I will get some yoghurt and fruit from the staff and put it in the fridge in my room ( you will need a spoon as well). There is breakfast!
I love being treated to a full service dinner with tablecloths etc so will dine in the dining room each night and savour every mouthful of the 3 courses supplied but I will avoid the bread rolls. Desert OR bread roll = desert every time. Also each ship has a gym with classes and most run boot camps but if you want a break from that just make sure to avoid the lift and walk everywhere. Also cocktails- leave the creamy ones out. If I follow these rules, I can enjoy my cruise – guilt free and come home lighter then when I boarded, having had a great time.

Shaz, I am sorry your parents are poorly. That must be so hard having to care for them you are not up to scratch. I have found that the “cleansing way of life” does make my head clearer and gives me more energy. Hopefully it will do the same for you. I also have a holistic approach and believe that so many of our problems have emotional roots and am working through them as I go. I have found that a lot of them “pop up” when I am ready to address them. I am also a bachelorette and have Lupus and fibromyalgia as well as numerous other issues but I am working my way though releasing what doesn’t benefit me.

Interesting choice of words I used and I nearly deleted them but I typed for a reason and maybe it is to make me look at how (if at all) my ailments DO benefit me. With that written I now desperately want chocolate ! so it has to be resonating on some level with my body.

Salma, I hope you cold is already on the mend. Maybe you just needed a bit of “ME TIME”.

I have ranted enough and while I didn’t get to everyone, I will pick up tomorrow.

I release any excess fat cells that no longer serve me. Night all!

    Welcome here Cocopops!
I really hope 5:2 suits you. It makes life so easy and wonderful when it does. Something about the fasting made eating normally on the other days work easily for me (okay, comparatively easily! it happened gradually).

First I had the pleasure of finding it made me feel good. Second the pleasure that I found non fast days gradually getting sorted. Thirdly, clothes getting comfortable, then loose, then needing to be thrown out. And finally the delight of finding my new style that suits my age and figure and tastes (my figure never having been the ‘right’ 😉 bodyshape either!)

Speckles, I am glad there is good news for your dad, and I hope he keeps improving.

    Good luck with the quinoa!

I had a lovely fast day yesterday, but I am a bit zonked today so I will take it easy. Best wishes to everyone out there!

    Good late afternoon (here) girls,

A sorta lazy day here, a morning walk, a chat with new neighbors across the street (they’re thankfully nice and about our age), and a trip to the lawn and garden shop to buy some herbs and tomato plants as well as some seeds to plant. I’m a tad concerned as to whether or not these things will grow, as my hubby can never seem to get the irrigation system to work right and things tend to die if not hand watered (difficult with our crazy lives to do regularly). Anyhow, fingers crossed! 😉

Cinque, I thought, it being a lazy day and all that I’d finally try to connect with you on FaceBook and then get to view the pics of your beautiful granddaughter but I can’t seem to find the post with your info! Can you give that to me again please? Have a good rest day today!

Cocopops, I love the name. I tend to have a similar figure, carrying it all on the bottom half. Luckily I married a man who likes a more buxom bottom! 😉 I felt the same as you especially as a teen , comparing myself to all those model types. You can succeed with this, especially now that you’re looking at it more from a health perspective. It puts a different spin on it I think. We all want to live healthier as we age. Good luck, and we’re here for you as you travel on this path!

Spreckles, so glad your dad is seeming to do better on the machine. Keep us updated on his progress. Btw, it was a lot easier when I was in Hawaii by myself, not having to worry about cooking for others, not being stressed! I exercised more (more time) and ate a heck of a lot less I found. I like your cruise eating mode. Similar to what I’d do on a vacation. I’d eat an egg or two in the morning with fruit, no lunch and then try to stick to protein and veg’s at dinner, but would splurge too!

Time to make dinner! Later all!

    Sherry

Hi all and welcome to the newbies
I am now home from a week in sunny Spain and just contemplating whether to jump right in with FD today or not. I really fancy eggs for bf and have some leftover chopped salad for lunch then meat and veg tonight with family, guess that could still be a FD if I am careful with the calories and portion size. My usual preferred method lately is to do fluids only until evening meal but not sure I can face that today.
I have been catching up with all the posts and enjoying all your news.
I have big non diet related news- my middle son just got engaged while on holiday, expect the wedding will be summer next year, so exciting!

Susie! Welcome back.. what exciiting news!!!! This is a great incentive to stay on the straight and narrow. I wish one of my boys would oblige 🙂

Cocopops.. welcome into the fray.. I am like you and needed to lose around 20 – 23 Kgs; I was over 90 Kgs when I started. I am on my way, but remain a work-in-progress. The progress is slow for me, but at least it is in the right direction. It has also been hampered by a host of health issues that have occured in recent months and by a lot of traveling. Still.. I will get there eventually.

Sherry.. I wrote to Amazon complaining, but have heard nothing yet. I will be going to Boston next month for my son’s graduation (and some work), so if I don’t get the book by then, I will buy it in the States.

I still have the lousy cold, and it only got worse. I really do not feel up to a proper FD today although I also do not feel much like eating. So, it might pan out as an FD anyway. I am having my chicken soup and lemon/ginger/honey drinks and just biding my time. I was feeling so awful today that I decided to stay home from work. I hate staying in bed all day, but feel that my bosy needs it, so I will be resting &/or working in bed for the day.

Take care everyone and I do hope you are having a better day than I !

    Salma

    Good Monday morning!

I had a fun weekend with my sister and best of all….came home 1 pound lighter! Since she is following a low carb plan too, we didn’t over indulge this weekend. She is to the point where she doesn’t want to lose any more weight, so she has to try to add a few carbs here and there in the form of fruit and maybe some whole grains. She is very happy that I introduced her to low carb as she said she never would have been able to fit into her Spring clothing had she not lost some weight.

Salma…sorry to hear that you’re still not feeling well. It really drags you down when it just hangs on and on. Hope a day in bed makes you feel better.

I am hopelessly behind, so have no hopes of commenting on all the previous posts. Just know that I have read them and offer my support and am here cheering you all on!

A 4 day work week for me as we’re leaving on Friday to travel 3 hours to go to our Grandson’s baseball tournament this weekend. We will be near Baltimore and are looking forward to some yummy seafood. We’re hoping the weather is nice, although I just saw a report that predicts lower temperatures than we had this weekend. Oh well….jackets and sweatshirts it will be!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hello!

It’s gorgeous April weather here. The colors are so vivid it’s like walking around in a dream world. Unfortunately, the pollen is also out of this world. We went hiking Saturday and since then I’ve had constant drainage/coughing/irritated throat. I’m not sure if it’s allergies or remnants of the cold I was fighting earlier or both. Sometimes my throad gets irritated and it just goes on and on so I’m trying to drink hot lemon water/honey/tea throughout the day plus a ton of supplements. I can’t take things like zyrtec without heart palpitations getting worse. It can be a bad spiral, but I think the hot lemon and honey is helping…..

We celebrated my husband’s birthday this weekend so I’m hesitant to get on the scale!!!! I like to think I’d be skinny if I were on my own but I would probably eat out of boredom or something. It is a challenge, though, especially since my kids are skinny! Anyway, I’m also in the “as long as it’s in the right direction I’m okay” club. No hurries. Progress not perfection. (Isn’t that annoying??)

Welcome Cocopops! Fast days get easier very quickly. Find the pattern that works for you.

Salma, hope you feel better soon but I’m glad you’re able to rest.

Lori, we used to live in Delaware and the crab cakes were amazing…I know Maryland is like that too.

Susie, I’ve never been to Spain! We are hoping to take our daughter to the Netherlands/Germany this summer b/c my husband is very familiar with that area. He would love to go to Spain.

Cinque, I’ll pop on FB and check you out, haha.

SherryAnn, I called a smaller town that has a passport office and we got an appt for next week before my husband leaves the country. Yay! I hope it works out. Glad your cleanse is going well. I have never done that but I’m intrigued by the idea. How many days?

Shaz, I went through something similar with my parents when I was a young mom. It was so hard. I feel for you.

Speckles, good luck with your dad as well! It’s so draining.

Kari, glad your fast day went well!

I probably left someone out! Sorry–I need to get on more consistently so I’m not overwhelmed.

My goal today is to stay out of the nuts, which is my temptation when I give up carbs!!!

    Good luck, all!!!

    Good morning everyone,
It is gorgeous April weather here too.
Catz life is so hard when hay fever is bad. I’ve a friend who had it so bad he got injections to desensitise him from the pollens. I get hay fever badly at times, but Im lucky that Zyrtec suits me very well.
I hope those pollens finish soon.
So glad you worked out how to get the passports done!
    See you on fb.

    Lori welcome home! Lighter! 😇

Salma, I do hope you are starting to recover now, and don’t go rushing back into work while you are still weak.

Susie, exciting news! Congrats to your son. Welcome home to you too! Did you jump straight into a fast?

I’m so glad to be on my own, The last weeks have got me out of my rhythm and woke up that hunger dragon everyone talks about. I’m needing to work on it day by day and get back to that nice healthy rhythm. I’m very much looking forward to Thursday fast day.

Going shopping today with my daughter and I’ll buy some lovely veggies.

    Good Morning Friends!

A bit quiet around this forum lately? Guess we’re all just cruising along?

Nothing special around here. Just trying to stay low carb and do a bit of fasting. I’m actually doing the window method of fasting, i.e., I eat my last food between 6 and 7 in the evening and then don’t eat again until Noon or 1 the next day. This seems the best routine for me as my boot camp workout kills my appetite for hours after I finish. Sometimes I will get hungry around 11, and then will have a few almonds to tide me over until my 1 o’clock lunch. We all just do the best we can, don’t we?

Hope you all are having a nice week.

    Hi girls,

It’s a 20’s day for me! It’s the 20th day of the month, I hit my goal of 120 (actually 120.2), and I’m 20% body fat (per my scale, which I’ve never felt was particularly accurate in that respect, but I’ll take it!) I finished the cleanse yesterday. I tried to finish strong, hoping to move the scale into the 120 even range by doing 1 hr. pilates and a 1 hr. walk last night and then dry brushed my body before getting in an Epsom salt and lavender bath to finish the detox! So 10 days ago I was 126 (minus the 2 lbs. of quickly added fluff weight would actually equal 124), therefore, lost 4-6 pounds after 1 week on the cleanse. Now the hard part- making it stick! 😉 Even if it goes up a tad, I’ve seen the magic number and now know it’s attainable. Like I said before, ideally, I’d like to stay in the 115-120 range so hoping to lose a few more before summer and all those vacations hit.

Cinque, I sent a friend request to you on Facebook. That picture at the front with the two cute babies. is the blonde one your granddaughter? So cute! Is that from a year ago?

Susie, so happy for you! Congrats on your son’s engagement! What great news! Have they set a date for the big day yet? Question for you, how easy is it to be “good” with your eating while in Spain? Are there many healthy food choices? How did you do while there, if you don’t mind me asking. Just trying to put my ducks in a row as best I can before I go there.

Salma, hope you’re feeling better! Seems like everyone around my neck of the woods is getting sick lately! Did you end up getting a fast day in because of your lack of appetite? Congrats on your son’s impending graduation! What’s his degree in again? Was it engineering? Will he be moving back to Lebanon for work or stay in the states?

Carolina, how are your allergies doing? Any better? Have you ever been evaluated for the heart palpitations to see what’s potentially causing them? I know menopause in general can cause them too.

    Hi Lori!

Ok, off to pick up my kids and take my son to his ukulele lessons.

    Sherry

Oh, and Carolina, good luck with the passports! So smart to check into another nearby town to get them done. Fingers crossed you get them back before summer!

Lori, just saw this recipe pop up as I was ready to exit the computer. Thought it might work for your low carb lifestyle when you have a sweets craving!

    Hi Everyone!

It is a fast day for me today. Lovely.

It is grey and rainy but not too cold, and the garden needed that shower!

Sherry I can’t work out which pic fb was showing, but I bet the blond baby is my granddaughter! I am off to mind her today while my daughter has a doctor’s appt.

I’m off now to get chicken and tofu out of the freezer for my miso soup this evening, and then I need to write up the minutes of a meeting!

    Best wishes all!

    Hi All..

Hi Sherry.. Huge congrats on reaching your 20’s. It must feel excellent. Well done.

I am feeling much better thank you. I did not manage an FD on Monday, but made up for it on Tuesday. I am hoping for another FD today. My weight is STUCK though.. it is so frustrating. My son is graduating with a Master’s in Public Policy and is likely to continue his studies for a PhD.. then again, he may decide to go back to work.. who knows. I think he will take a couple of months off and then decide the next steps.

It seems I have another transatlantic business trip looming next week for 3 days.. exhausting! All this flailing about does my resolve no good at all 🙁

    Have a great day everyone.
    Salma

    Hi all
Woo Sherry, well done on the 120s, must make the detox worthwhile. We find we eat better in Spain generally than here, even while in a hotel. The breakfast buffet always has Spanish omelette made with eggs, potato and sometimes onion so we always have that with a side of tomatoes and maybe a slice of smoked salmon or little cheese. There is always chopped fresh fruit and yoghurts alongside cereals and breads and cakes which we ignore. Normally some cold meats as well as bacon or sausage if that is your preference.
Lunch we tend to have either a salad, Caesar or nicoise or a ‘bocadillo’ ( sandwich ) sometimes a few olives alongside and dinner could be tapas, small plates , or main dish like anywhere, we did have paella once and fideua ( made like paella but with short noodles, not rice) but in general I prefer not to be so carb loaded.
Think we just felt better because we had sun on our backs and time to walk along the beach each morning and also walk a lot more in general. Shame about the drinks we also had but I think when we go to a home rather than to a hotel, that will even out also. We like being outside more, we can’t do that here very often.
Cinque, I started well on mon but after a pm meeting we felt wine was required so that was the end of that. So will have to start again next week, out tonight for a friends 60 btd and tomorrow is ‘fizzy friday’. My meals are ok tho so easing into better eating at least.

    Good Morning!

Up and ready for my final day of boot camp for the week. Tomorrow will be a leisurely morning with just some laundry and packing for our weekend away. DH will work in the morning and then come home to shower and we will be on our way. 3 hour drive and then a nice evening with some good seafood and then baseball on Saturday.

That darn scale popped up again this morning. Frustrating! Just have to keep plugging along.

Sherry…congrats on your loss! How wonderful to be at goal. Thanks for the recipe, but I try not to make treat type items. I really don’t want to stir up my sweet tooth. It does sound good though! I try to keep my eating very simple.

Ok…must have my coffee so I’m ready to head to the studio. Hope the workout isn’t too hard this morning….figure the odds!

    Morning ladies
Sorry haven’t been on here lately. I have been trying to keep up with all the postings, but need to read them in depth to catch up with you all.
So it still hasn’t happened for me yet. I don’t know whether it’s the wrong time for me with what’s going on at the moment, I hope that doesn’t sound like a cope out it’s not meant to be. But besides what I have already mentioned, I twisted my ankle badly earlier this month, then had to go into hospital as a day patient for a small operation under general anaesthetic. It’s all taken it’s toll on me physically and emotionally and that’s not good when trying to start something new.
I will keep trying to head in the right direction, hoping something will click.
Wishing you all well, until the next time xxxxx
