  • @helenalee and @pippapah – scales don’t always tell the whole picture. I weigh daily but see fluctuations up and down, sometimes quite large even though i rarely exceed TDEE and am mostly quite low carb. When you weigh can also have an impact.
Weight increases may be water retention, hormonal, more muscle mass……

If your other measurements are heading downwards, and looser clothes is a very good indication, then try not too worry about the scales too much.

    Day 15 UK NFD 🌈

Yesterday ended up being an NFD also whoops. Should never decide to do a FD on a Sunday as it’s my relax day and wine 🍷and sunshine 🌞always goes well with a relax day 😊.

I myself need to focus a lot more, planned all next week, next job, stick to the plan. That in itself is hard, good intentions 💫then need to follow up with good actions. I get support from all those posts that are doing well as I know it’s in my power to do it too, I also get support of the people that are the same as me, we know what to do but we still struggle.🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I also feel my scale ⚖️must be wrong and is just flashing the same number up at me this month therefore it must 1) be broken or 2) all the gym exercise is putting on muscle and the fat is going but muscle weigh heavier!!! 🙏😂😂😂😂Will see if I can fit into snug jeans at the end of the month that will show me what’s what.

Think I need to create an alter ego and be that girl!!! 💃🏼👩🏼‍🎤👸🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🏋🏼‍♀️🏄🏼‍♀️🏊🏼‍♀️

    Sending positive vibes!! 👊🏻🌈✨

Jumping on the pocketeers list today, especially after celebrating Mother’s Day by going out for Mexican food. Delicious, but I now feel bloated and ready to exercise more and eat less!

    DAY 15 – FD – Hampshire UK

Today is a FD for me and it is going well so far. Have been really busy all morning and not really thought about being hungry until now.

I have just re-read Michael Moseley’s book and I would recommend everyone to do the same! I first read it in 2012/13 and I am amazed at how much I had forgotten.

Also for me, I am doing this for health reasons [I’m a health nut :0)] as well as for weight loss and it is really nice to re-enforce how much good this is doing me!

So I weighed myself on Saturday morning and this month I have lost 400 grams! To be expected really as I have had rather a disrupted schedule due to client meetings & lunches etc.

However I really want to finish this month in the 8s rather than in the 9s, so I had better get my nose back to the grindstone!

    Day 15– Colorado USA–
not sure yet… supposed to be NFD. Might make it low 800 calorie or 18:6 day.

So far my minimum-minimums are working!

Once I start my fitness circuit, I usually find I have enough energy & time to do more. But if I want to stop, it’s cool because I’ve met my minimum goal for the day.

I’ve also been throwing my veggies in blender for Green Freshness in a Glass, so I know I’m getting my minimum greens. Then if I have a large mix-veg tossed salad too, that’s just a healthy bonus!

So thanks @coda for the article, it sparked an idea for me that’s working gang-busters! 😀 Plus, these wins are building my confidence even if the scale isn’t cooperating.

Blimey – why do I have such a long user name?!!!!!!! Wish I could change it! Although I am of course still a massive fan!

Day 15 – FD, please add me to the list not good with IT, lol!

Weigh in results- 1.5 lbs down, 10 st 11.5 lbs
Waist down to 29 inches – heading in right direction.

@lynzm 🌈 – your post made me smile, what’s not to love about 🍷 in the ☀️ Last week was challenging for me for that exact reason. Looks like we can enjoy a glass or two with this WOL. Good plan for this week!

    Day 15 – FIN – FD

Trying a liquid fast today. My minimum goal for the day was fasting for 18 hrs, which I just reached (began my fast pretty late yesterday). I have a light headache atm, but nothing I can’t manage. Will try to make it disappear by having more tea and water.

As I was unable to add the additional third fast day to my schedule last week, I’ll tweak my plan this week and fast on Wed & Fri in addition to today. Hopefully that’s enough to balance out the bad eating during the past few weeks. ADF:ing will hopefully also keep me from indulging too much.

My extremities have been getting numb pretty easily during the past week or so, and I’m wondering if it has to do something with the fasting/weight loss or whether it’s simply a symptom of sitting around too much (I’m guessing the latter, but I still find it weird, since I’ve sat as much before as well without this outcome).

@pissupoosa I’m sorry that you’ve had to go through those difficult emotions, although it’s more than understandable. But, despite it being hard I do think it’s good you’ve been able to talk about it with someone (as I understand you might have).
Editing the spreadsheet works now, at least for me. I seem to be unable to achieve the same formatting as you, though (my edits end up on the second row instead of lining up with what you’ve written). Hopefully us editing the spreadsheet won’t mess it up too much.

Day 15, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Hello all, back to my first of three fasting days in a row – and happy to be so… Ate more than should have this weekend, didn’t feel that great, haven’t slept as well, etc., but had a nice Mother’s Day and ready to move on. Hope the same for all who celebrated.

Today’s weight 143.8, below goal weight of 145. (at one point on Friday night, the weight was 148.1… Yikes…. Luckily, it was back in the 143 range the next morning. Must have had a LOT of liquids in me.)

Wishing all a great day, I have a LOT of reading to do as I want to catch up.

@chumi – thanks for adding me to the list! Good luck on your fasting 😊

    Day 15 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Doing well. My cold is much improved so will go to my PEO brunch this morning then give blood (my 5-week normal pint). Beautiful sunny weather for a few days here!

Maintenance still means very controlled eating, often just 2 real meals per day with just a snack for a third meal. Snack might mean an apple, some string cheese, a handful of nuts. This seems to be my life now at age 69, but I am still happy to be at this weight.

Off to brunch – onward and downward!

    Day 15 US FD 1st of b5b

I measured my abdomen Sunday morning. (Before our Mother’s Day meal.) I have lost 4.5 inches in my abdomen since the beginning of March. That cheered me up a bit, considering my weight loss is slower than when I started.
I still have more posts to read and I will. I will be able to reply again later.😀
I had a Happy Mother’s today, @fordprefect and our wonderful children made my favorite dinner of Alaskan king crab legs, scallops, shrimp on salad and I made the scallops and shrimp garlic, onions Tablespoon of olive oil on the Konjac pasta. Received gifts, and flowers. Had 2 chocolate covered strawberries as desert with family. My stomach has shrunk so I wasn’t able to eat any of the Alaskan King Crab legs yesterday. So I will go for a 5 day fast this week, With a FD800 on Wednesday so I can eat some of the Alaskan King Crab legs.
@krisnia Have you tried making crispy Kale chips? Our family loves them. I will send you the recipe if you like. Now I see that @coda‘s family likes them also.😀

@coda, thanks for the quote “if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” That was very meaningful to me…@chumi, I just retired from a physically demanding job and I can relate to the the numbness in extremities that you mention…maybe the change in activity level? @jmh44, 5 lbs. loss is wonderful, congrats! @stevetoon, inches are a better indicator of loss than that Cruella scale! @bigviking, @tlc2, @fivetwofan5252, great job on losses! @helenalee, maybe try going on MFP and counting calories according to your weight goal TDEE on NFDs and see if that’s the culprit – you will notice that we all have an ominous suspicion of the scale (Cruella)…so fickle to tell us we are 4 lbs. up one day and then 4 lbs. down the next, lol!

Day 15 Akron OH FD. Had a lovely mother’s day weekend but probably went over my tdee. Well today is a new day and the beginning of a new week. Happy fasting people

    Day 15 – USA – NFD

Second post: @happymargo, I’d love to hear more about your transition to LCHF; thanks for what you wrote so far. I, too, started just IF in January 2017, but a few weeks in, noticed that LCHF/keto was more sustainable for me. I find it hard to keep the fat macros up while counting calories; I always have not enough fat and more carbs than I want…did you find this to be true? If so, how did you remedy it?

    Day 15 US FD
@pissupoosa I’m so sorry you have been going through a difficult time. It is so hard when we lose our loved ones. I can relate with you and your sadness. I hope it helps if I share. If not please only know that I would just want to help you feel better. My mom died in 2013. My brother passed when I was young. I feel that some days and all holidays are much more agonizing without them here. I miss them so much. I have to push myself through a wall of sadness to push myself to find the happiness in my life today. Sometimes I just cry. We’re having a wedding in the family in June and I wish they would both be here. I see the joy in my life and understand how happy that my mother and brother would be for and with our family now. Through their gifts; their presence and gifts they gave us, while they were alive. I see them in my family’s faces and realize they are with us in spirit in our lives today. I hope this helps you through your times of hurtful sorrow. In hopes that you can understand that you are not alone. Warmest wishes and a big hug to you.✨💛✨If it helps; I believe your mother’s spirit is still with you.✨ I beleive you don’t have to go to temple (unless you want to) to know that she loves you.✨

i do not know if i can put my name in
    but i am fasting today
    @dudeinwashingtondc..

2 cups coffee at 7:00 am EST
and some salad – and 1 egg at 11:30 am

and yes weight : 188 lb

    Day 15 | Alaska | FD

Turns out I’m an emotional eater. I never really considered myself one until Coda posted that article. I thought emotional eaters ate when they were angry or sad, I didn’t realize that happy and bored also qualified. This included with binge eating is definitely a recipe for disaster. I must stop the madness.

I was doing so well the past couple of weeks but really blew it this weekend. Basically from Friday – Sunday I just binged. Feel terrible. I know that beating myself up isn’t going to do one bit of good, so I will just do my best to carry on and hopefully make better choices next time. I need a break from “holidays” and “special occasions” that seem to derail me from being in control.

Day 15 – SW WA USA – FD liquid only hopefully

After indulgences on the weekend, I’m planning on some type of fast for 5 days; liquid today, 800 tomorrow, 500 the next… I know weight loss usually slows after the initial stretch, but I really have so much more to lose. I don’t want to keep bouncing around the 200 lbs; or if I bounce, I want to be trending downward like @fatrabbit. I am happy that the size 14s are fitting well compared to 18-20s when I started in October.

So glad for this forum for continued encouragement. Together we are stronger!

Day 14 Florida USA NFD Was very indulgent for Mother’s Day- pancakes, hot dog and chips, ice cream. So, I skipped dinner and just had Triscuits and a little cheese to stay under my TDEE for the day.

Day 15 Florida USA FD I wanted to fast today, although it’s 3 hours until dinner and I’m very hungry (after a 90 minute yoga class.) I have a nice dinner at home planned and I’m sure I’ll savor every bite, which is as it should be. Part of why I do this is to shift into eating mindfully. My best to all fellow fasters!

    Day 15 US FD
@lola907 I hope you are feeling better😊 I was thinking how much more difficult holidays are, especially when we have love ones we miss. Dodging the minefield of carbs and sugar is not easy. I went back and re-read @coda ‘s post because I needed it for anxiety … don’t really now why, I just have anxiety today.
    @coda THANK-YOU again for your posts!😊✨

    Day 15, Germany, FD

sorry, just got home, too tired to read or copy.

Thanks for the spreadsheet update @pissupoosa. I have added my NFD and FD for the month.

    Day 15, Maine FD

Rain has stopped, just cool & cloudy – therapy walk beckons. Just coffee, tea & water so far, omelette planned for dinner.

Make it a super day everybody!

    Day 15,Germany, NFD

@lynzm ha ha hope u r not in my situation of a plateauuuuu 😀 u r full of energyyy. I like it 😀

    Wow! @okeydokey 4.5 inches! That’s a great achievement 🙂 congrats!

@songbirdme your eating plan is very healthy. Made me to reflect more on my own 🙂

    Day 15 | FD | UK

    Day 13 & 14 were NFDs

    Day 16 – Scotland- FD

Difficult day, I was about to give up several times. Felt truly hungry. Usually once it’s 2.30-3pm I feel “safe”, as I know that eating would mean that my efforts until then would have been wasted. Maybe because my dinner tonight didn’t satisfy me? Usually on FD I have two portions of soup and a chocolate soy yogurt (so that I feel I had a pudding for only 118 cal). Today I made some pork loin wrapped in Parma ham, which my husband said it was very nice. He had it with caramelised shallots and roasted potatoes while I had some iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes on the side. Maybe my portion was not big enough but I don’t know how to calculate the calories and I didn’t want to overeat. So early night for me tonight as I don’t want to eat anything else. Also, the scale this morning had not forgotten my massive binge on Saturday. 😒

    Day 15, Gozo Malta, NFD/FD

Today I fasted till 8.00 pm then I attended my weekly Eucharistic meeting and after mass we hed an agape that is everybody brings food and drinks and we eat what we brought with us. It was nice and felt good to eat but it was too much for a fast day but maybe just above tdee.

Good night everyone. Onwards and downwards.

    Day 15- USA- FD

    Day 15 Portugal
It was to be a FD but turned into NFD. Just too hungry.
Enjoyed a walk this evening. Weather is turning nice again. Planning a good long walk tomorrow am while my daughter is doing a maths exam.

    Day 16/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Very happy with yesterday’s fast day although it wasn’t a particularly healthy one. I broke my fast with a miso soup, 2 boiled eggs and a delicious new seasons apple. My normal fast days involve heaps of fresh vegetables and a small serve of protein but I couldn’t be bothered cooking. Most importantly I have my mojo back!

The scales were very kind this morning. Lots of excess water gone as my body adjusts to fewer carbs and salt. I always think of the first fasting day as a re-balancing day. It boosts my confidence. The second fast day of the week is the one I count on to lose excess fat.

@helenalee my weight can fluctuate as much as 3lbs/1.5kgs during the day. I have been known to weigh myself as many as 6 times in a day to learn how my body works. The ‘excess’ weight gain happens when I eat too many carbs, have a very salty meal, drink a lot of fluids (a glass of water weighs 250gm!), have food in transit etc etc. The only weight I focus on is my official weekly weigh in after my second fast day. I weigh first thing in the morning, always in the nude, and after a toilet break. This is the one I record.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Day 15 FD

First day of b2b2b…exercised this morning, very hungry today. This too will pass.

@lindasue I feel your pain, Mothers Day was too good, I’m cleansing. Did not weigh in but will tomorrow.

May need to go to bed early to avoid being hangry!

Day 15 Belfast NFD (well Portugal)
Have made very sensible choices up to now apart from the G & Ts! 16:8 and lovely salad for lunch and healthy evening meal – tonight talked OH into sushi. Yum! ‘And no cholesterol in sight’ says OH.
Thank you Coda for that reassurance and sorry you’re stuck with it! My son has instructions to water my seedlings if the sun comes out again!
@jarbia what a pity you won’t see our lovely country at its best.😀
@fatrabbit looking good and feeling good about yourself is part of the journey. You should maybe go into M&S (Other stores are available and try on a few pairs, and if you’re pleased with the fit buy just one pair.you might be surprised! I have a friend who was quite large. Consequently she always wore black. Shortly into her weightloss journey we talked her into buying some pretty clothes. This new image inspired her to stick to it. Now she looks and feels amazing – a new woman you might say.
Did I say shoes were my fetish? I guess for the same sort of reasons as above. Well, I’m in shoe heaven! @erica if I lived here I’d have no money! Am looking for shoes for my wedding outfit at the end of the month, but might buy more than one pair!!
    LynzM -lol!
@okay dokey WOW! 4 1/2 inches. Fantastic!!! I would love the recipe for kale chips please.
I really missed adding my name to the faster but control on holiday is my huge challenge. You’re such a good group!
    Have a good day everyone.

Alas I was doing so well on my green smoothie all day. I cooked the family a lasagne with garlic bread and didn’t take any. I cooked my OH some trout and it looked so nice I had half but still within enough for a fast. Then one of the boys decided to melt left over Easter eggs and dip strawberries into it. I had 4 in total but that was it – the Dragon was released and I had a bag of crisps and 2 chocolate biscuits. Think it was also stress of doing maths and remembering or not remembering formulas! Tomorrow is another day! Just hope this is not a slippery slope!

    London | Day 15 | NFD

OK NFD today. Tomorrow will be an FD.

It’s been a long day! Went into work nice and early this morning to make a head start with some work I needed to finish – but guess what! – our hospital was also affected by the cyber ransomware attack!!! So most of the morning was spent working out which computers were corrupted or not – and making sure the lab was running as best as we can under the circumstances.

@at @chumi @okeydokey – thank you for all your thoughtful and kind words – losing my mother was very tough. It came as a shock to us all. We’re stronger as a family now to make sure my father is looked after and is comfortable.

I saw some of you have updated the spreadsheet. Glad it’s working now and thank for helping with filling the gaps. I’ve updated the rest.

    @anna6 – Happy belated birthday!

@steve too taxi driver – sounds like you covered some beautiful areas on your bike ride!

    @happymargo and @metatauta – I don’t seem to have any issues with email notifications…

@happymargo – thanks for the sugar weaning tips. You’re right: I think weaning is more sustainable and practical than going cold-turkey.
I have listened to some of Dr Enfeldt’s talks – do you pay to subscribe to the diet doctor site?

@jarbia @technicole – don’t get too disheartened by small digressions. we all have those once a while. Sending positive thoughts 🙂

    @dudeinwashingtondc – welcome!

Before I go – a quick shout out to those who haven’t checked in for a while:\
Hope all is OK with you all.

    Day 16 | Sydney Australia | NFD

    Starting Weight:
    99.7kg

    Today’s Weight:
    98.2kg

    This week’s loss:
    1.3kg

    Total loss:
    1.5kg

YAY! I lost 1.3kg this week. really proud of myself. I am actually doing around 600-700 calories on fast days so it’s great that that works. I am also training pretty hard, doing 3 HIIT classes a week.

    Day 16 – Perth, W.Aust – FD
    Day 15 – NFD

Goodness me, we’re halfway through the month, hasn’t that happened just a little too quickly. Stay strong everyone.

MAY we all be strong, resilient, resourceful and aMAYzing.

    Day 15 US FD
    Day 16 US FD
✨I’m not losing weight, I’m getting rid of it I have no intention of finding it again.✨
    @schatziii Thank-you✨
@debster251 here is the link for the kale chips. I’ve found if the kale is thicker, it’s ok if they are cooked a bit longer, they just get crispier.😀
@coda … bravo✨ @fordprefect and I would not be able to cook the lasagna like you did and not eat some also.✨Tomorrow we start a new!✨😀
@onahealthyhigh I agree with the 2nd FD in b2b being the fat loss day. 😊

Day 15 FD St. Louis USA
Busy day. Day 1 of b2b. Catching up on posts.

    Day 16 Oman FD
Can’t seem to focus on either FDs or NFDs. Checked scales this morning and I’ve stayed the same. Glad I didn’t go up. The thing that has become pretty easy is 16:8. I guess that’s what’s prevented a gain over the past few weeks when i haven’t been able to do proper FDs and my NFDs have not been controlled.

So today…aiming for a good back to basics FD!

Day 16 FD Country West Australia 73.6 kgs
    Yesterday’s FD ………wasn’t.
Travelling, and sandwiches the healthiest option where we stopped.
4 days of chocolate, wine, doughnuts and more carbs than I’ve had in a long while made for a 2.5 kg increase.
Disappointing since I also did strenuous 1 hour walks each day, but not altogether unexpected.😔
Today – mostly liquid. Water, water, water. That was probably the thing I didn’t have enough of.
Off to a friend’s birthday dinner tonight so will try to be mindful.
    Catch up on posts later.

    Day 16 | London | NFD

I haven’t contributed much to this forum since I started this diet at the beginning of the month. I have been reading the comments from the sidelines and have gained a great deal of knowledge about this way of life and myself, my lifestyle and my eating habits.

Little background: 44 year old woman, 5ft, was 144 lbs when started on May 1st, currently 138lbs. My weight has creeped up over the last 6 months. I usually keep it under control at about 130, but would like to be 126!

So far I have learned about myself:-
    • I can go without food
    • it’s ok to be a little bit hungry
    • control is harder than fasting
    • my poorer eating habits are a result of social habits and portion control

I am getting to know myself and I have to say I am finding it liberating working through this change in way of eating. I feel some relief in that I am taking control and the food is not controlling me as much.

With that said, I wanted to get on here to say thank you, for this fountain of knowledge forum and sharing your experiences and for keeping me accountable. Thank you @pissupoosa for your great work and the spreadsheet and to @coda for posting super links and sound advice.

Wishing everyone a happy day, hope it’s a good one for you.

    Day 16 – Sydney Aus – NFD 67.3kg
I’m happy, the weight is going down slowly.

    Day 16 UK FD

184.6 lbs. Ate too much yesterday. The sweet potato curry was too nice. I used fresh tomatos as we were given more than the guinea pigs could possibly eat, lovely fancy sweet cherry ones. Yum. And loads of peppers so I put extra in too. The sweet potatos were free too. Perfectly good food saved from the tip.

    Day 16: Northumberland, UK: FD
Went very slightly over my 500 calories yesterday as just couldn’t shake the need to snack all day and finally gave in yesterday evening and had a little chocolate. Going to try to do better today as need to curb those sugar dragons before they escape properly. Started the day with water and nice black coffee and may do my gym session early rather than lunch time and see if that helps.

    DAY 16 – UK – FD

Trying a b2b to-day after a good fast day yesterday. It felt so good to fast after an indulgent week. I realise that for me a fasting day has to be a busy structured one – so to-day for instance, where I have nothing “on” I am taking myself off on a long walk (with DH) and have given myself a list of tasks to follow and finish to-day. Lists are good – it’s so easy to waste time and mooch about making lots of excuses to do nothing!!
(Hope I’m not the only one). If I can get thru’ a fast to-day, will carry on, as tomorrow is a structured day and an easy fasting day.

For all those busy souls still working, and looking after young families I explain that I am retired (and loving it) but it’s easy to get into the swing of self indulgent time wasting!!!!

I need a good two weeks fasting now as I have my NI trip at half term, with the grandchildren, and I know it will be difficult to fast then. It shouldn’t be, but I always find it so. Little will-power when tired.

BTW I have sent away for some pre-biotics as tried out by Michael Moseley on this insomnia programme, hubby and I are going to try it out…………….I’ll keep you up to date with my progress.
