    Day 13, NFD

    Hiiii everybody,
I read some of the posts here and regain my energy to follow my fasting plan. Actually I do not lose weight so it makes me a bit disappointed. Since February my weight has been something between 64-66 and never less than it. So I really don’t know what should I do. However, I see some changes in my muscles and that makes me motivated enough to continue my weight training, cardio aaand fasting.
I know may be if I do not see any weight reduction it’s because I am gaining muscle. But the point is that I have a scale that shows rates of my body muscles and fat and I see no changes even in those numbers. I am not sure if these scales are reliable.

@your plan for the coming weeks seems great and doable. Also this recipe of smoothie is a wow! Thumps up!

Day 14 USA (Illinois) – NFD

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! It’s a beautiful day here in Illinois, and I am looking forward to taking it easy, reading, napping maybe outside in some sun.

Glad to say my weight maintained through my trip – 159.6 this morning. I’m still doing 6:1 these days for maintenance. Will probably do a FD on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 14 – USA – NFD

@anna6, happy birthday and happy Mother’s Day to all in the USA and Australia! @happymargo, I had the same problem with notifications of comments – nothing at all is showing up in my email inbox. I wrote about it a few days ago and I guess no one else had the problem..? I wrote tech suppport and have not heard back yet, although it’s a weekend, so I don’t expect an answer until maybe this week. Weigh in today was 179.8. Started May at 181, then gained 3-4 lbs. within the first 2 weeks. Don’t trust that Cruella, but body fat went down too, so I’m not complaining. Lots of physical work lately in the yard hauling stone and river rock. Maybe that’s what is whittling away weight and inches?

    Day 14 USA NFD
@happymargo thanks for the smoothie recipe. We do a CSA in the summer which usually brings us ALOT of Kale, so I’m always looking for good ways to use it. I love kale and health benefits, but we are talking a whole lot, because it’s still too cold here to grow much else, and will be for awhile. So anyone with kale recipes, send them my way!

Had a nice day with an eclectic group doing a day of health and wellness. I taught yoga, we had custom blends of essential oils made for each of us, reiki sessions, Chi gong session, reflexology, meditation. . . Delightful but soo cold in the beautiful old home now an event center where it was held. Still trying to warm up!

Happy Mothers Day to all of us celebrating today. I teach a yoga class this morning, then looking forward to a controlled NFD and some gardening.

Thanks Metatauta for your birthday wishes

    Day 14 US NFD

    @anna6 ✨ 🎶🌹Happy Birthday! 🎈🎂🎉 for yesterday.😀
    💐Happy Mother’s Day!✨💐To all Celebrating Mother’s Day around the globe 🌎

I will be fasting, either M,T then TH, Fri next week or all 5 week days next week. Getting close to my June target date.😊

About missing e-mails. I have copied the link to the May Challenge and texted it to myself. I can then click on the link to get to the page easily. I read the posts from the website. I has worked out well so far for me.
Thank-you to all who are posting. It is very grounding and helpful to read your stories and information. Love 💛our group. ☀️

Day 14 – SW WA USA – NFD

Happy Mother’s Day to all celebrating! I know Canada & the USA celebrate today. Are there other countries that have it today?

@onahealthyhigh – I too seem to miss some posts at times; not sure how many. It seems I need to go to the actual website to check from time to time.

@fatrbbit – Wow 183.6 already! Congrats! That’s amazing steady progress. I’m somewhat stalled, or bouncing around the same pounds for a while. Hopefully that will change soon.

@coda – Clever guts diet? Will it be coming out in book form?

Day 14 NFD St. Louis USA
Hello everyone. I’ll be fasting my regular Monday at 500 and Tuesday 800 back to back, and then 500 on Thursday. Feeling very positive but didn’t get on the scale today. Went over TDEE a bit and had a chocolate dipped cone which was my Mother’s Day treat for myself.

All my best to all of you.

    Day 14 | Alaska | NFD

Fast days are Monday & Thursday. They went well. The last couple non fast days have not been very good or controlled. I don’t know why I sabatoge myself.

Being that today is Mother’s Day I’m rewarding myself by not stepping on the scale.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

    Day 13 – Scotland- NFD
    Day 14 – Scotland – NFD

Sorry I have been off radar. Busy weekend, too much food. FD tomorrow

@anna6 – Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear Anna ♫♪♫♪ happy birthday to YOU!

@fatrabbit – there is a fat rabbit in my neighborhood. Every time I see it, I can’t help but get a smile and think about you!

@lola907 – Mother’s Day gift of no scale. Adorable!

@krisnia – I had to look up what CSA meant. We live in rural Illinois where gardens are very easy to have on our own. Enjoy your community!

    Day 15/FD/Melbourne Australia

First fast day in over two weeks. Looking forward to it.

Onwards and downwards. Have a great day everyone.

@annemarilyn the book is being released 18 May.

    @anna6 happy belated birthday 💐

    Fast day tomorrow and Tuesday

@krisnia kale crisps are a favourite in this house. Have you ever had them?

    Day 14 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

    Tomorrow is a fast day.

    Days 13 & 14 – NFDs – Toronto

    Still day 14

Enjoying Mother’s Day! Had wonderful conversations with my two adult children! I am blessed to be a mother. My children live a fair distance away so we’re not together today. In a short while I’ll take along some watermelon to contribute to a BBQ with a friend and her family.

I’m enjoying some rich food today so will give myself the gift of not weighing tomorrow ( a little like @lola907) but also going for a FD tomorrow.

@coda – thanks for the heads up about the book. I also just got the Fast Beach Diet after @okeydokey mentioned that. Will keep on keeping on to get the rest of the weight off.

    London | Day 14 | NFD

    Day 12 NFD
    Day 13 NFD

Apologies for couple of days’ silence. I’m just about getting over the cold; cough still bad (thank you all for the well wishes).
It’s been busy a busy weekend.
My mother’s 3rd death anniversary was last week and I took some food offering to the temple today. It’s been a tough few days; remembering her and talking about her hasn’t been easy.

@happymargo – I sure need help with cutting out sugar – any top tips? I did go sugar-free for a month for charity, but couldn’t sustain it. Really need to wean my self off sugar…

@jojo58 – Sorry to hear about your dog. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
I wasn’t sure if you joined the challenge or not – sorry! Added you just in case 🙂

@coda – thank you for all the inspirational posts!

@Booper.dooper – welcome! Wow a whole family on the forum! 😀

@rjw – all the best for the exam. Go easy on yourself – I can relate to exam stress on top of work!

    @okeydokey and @AnnMarilyn – well done on a successful b5b! Amazing!

    Second post:

    Updated spreadsheet link below:
I’ve changed the setting again so people can change/make corrections etc. Please shout if this is still not possible (thought I enabled it before).

Also please note that not everyone has to add their measurements (waist/hip etc) – I added the columns because different people keep track of the progress in different ways, so it gives every option. Just do what you normally do.
@okeydokey – yes it is google sheets. I made the top row and first column freeze (right-click on the heading and select from the menu).

@pissupoosa — you actually said the words that were key to me giving up sugar: WEAN.

I know some people are very successful going the cold turkey route. Not me. Felt too sudden & extreme.

First, I had to cut out wheat & gluten because of my Crohn’s. Once I learned I could eliminate a food (and feel much, much better for it!!) I started aiming for other healthy tweaks.

I choose to eliminate straight sugar first. No more in coffee or tea. Then cut out my favorite candies: Skittles & Star Bursts. Over time I maneuvered my diet to LCHF (low carb high fat that is so nicely explained on diet doctor by Dr. Andreas Enfeldt.)
    https://www.dietdoctor.com

The whole process probably took me two full years. But has been tremendously worth it!!! Even my dentist has noticed healthier teeth & gums at my check-ups! 😃

Good luck to everyone shaking the sugar out.

So this week feels a bit like I need to pick up the pieces after a weekend which included some indulgence. Mainly in the form of alcohol and fast food…. I actually feel though, that I didn’t exceed my TDEE, except for maybe on the alcohol day. I will get on the scales tomorrow morning and all will be revealed!

Otherwise, today’s fast day is going ok so far. I have had some water and some roibos tea and will have more tea now. Not sure what I’ll eat this evening, maybe a load of vegetables with an egg tossed in, or maybe some salad and a bit of tuna.

    Have a good Monday everyone!
    🙂

    Weight 195lbs
    Neck 16″
    Chest 42.5″
    Waist 38.5″
    Hip39″
Small weight loss. Measurements the same or down apart from chest up an inch possibly due to the exercise on the rowing machine. Good week a few carb moment’s I wish I’d missed apart from when I was pushing crusty bread butter and jam in my mouth lol.
Since starting the 5/2 mid March weight down 19lbs and waist down 8″
Very happy although not a big weight loss this week.
Keep at it people half way through the month let’s make the second half count.
    😁

    Day 15 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Yesterday’s FD became a bit of a disaster in the evening – Fasting during the long drive down south was no problem and was not feeling particularly hungry but boredom in the hotel room led to pizza and red wine followed by chocolates and more red wine……….but it was nice!

@pissupoosa – settings on spreadsheet does now allow us to change/make corrections etc. – Thank you for your sterling efforts – The anniversary of a loved one’s death is a always a hard time, especially a mother – I found these words very helpful when my mum died in 2014 and had them engraved on her tombstone “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal – Love leaves a memory no one can steal” hope the thought gives you some solace too HUGS

Busy social week ahead – it will be NFD until Friday which will most definitely be a FD when I drive back home – may be AWOL from the forum until Friday evening!

HAVE A STRONG 3rd WEEK OF THE CHALLENGE EVERYONE

    Day 15 – UK – NFD

Day 15 UK FD hoping for a positive start to week ,really want to try and get some downward movement on the scales

    Day 15: Northumberland, UK: FD

Aiming to start the week with B2B fast days again as that worked well for me last week, but as I woke up hungry and it’s wet and miserable outside that may change and become B2B tomorrow and Wednesday instead, will see how I go.

    Weight today 80.4kg (10 day average of 81.2kg), waist 76cm, hips 102cm, bust 100cm.

    Day 15, UK, FD

    2lb / 0.9kg lost this last week. 8.8lb / 4.0kg for May so far. 2st 1.1lb / 29.1lb / 13.2kg since I started on March 20th. Still need 13lb / 5.9kg to bring my BMI below 25. Less than a stone 😀

Onwards and downwards! Make week 3 a good one everybody.

    Day 15 UK NFD

184lbs. I am still fatrabbit just not obeserabbit any more thank goodness:)) It has become ridiculous to wear my old trousers, even the ones I was pleased to fit into only a few months ago but I don’t want to order more in the size that is comfortable now. There seems to be a bigger difference down to the next size (32). I can get into them but I couldn’t work in them and I don’t want to order more until I am sure they will be comfortable at some point. Being mens trousers it may be they just aren’t going to fit the new thinner me. And I haven’t a clue which womens size I would be as I haven’t bought british womens clothes since I was a teenager before I moved abroad. Luckily the shirts and fleeces look quite good loose so I don’t need new tops. And my shoulders aren’t going anywhere, unlike my hips which are proving to be much narrower than I thought they were, although still well padded.

    DAY 15 – UK – FD

A bad week for me. Ate heavily over tdee, got depressed about food, despite loving my Cornish break, and went totally ott the past 3 days…..even hit the biscuits which I haven’t done for 4 months!!! Hopefully a new start again to-day ….. certainly won’t lose any weight this month, but will keep trying and hope to maintain again this month.

Decided not to weigh again until I have several fd’s under my belt.

    Day 15 UK FD

Weight 65.6 Kg . At beginning of May was 67.5 . Target for this month was 2 Kg which would take me to 65.5 so not far to go. May try to aim for 65 Kg which should be doable I hope with 2 weeks still to go!
Good luck to all the fasters today!

    Day 13, Belfast, NFD
    Day 14, Belfast, NFD
    Day 15, Belfast, FD

Family home from England at the weekend so some celebrations and catching up…with a homemade Ulster Fry added in for good measure.

Weigh in on Friday 12th May – 12st 2lbs (170lbs). Half way through the May challenge and I’m down a couple of pounds, so at least it’s all going in the right direction. Might try and be very good for the next couple of weeks – including weekends – to see if there will be any increase in weight loss 🙂

    @fatrabbit – it’s a nice problem to have…needing to buy new clothes!!

I’ve missed out on so many posts all weekend, hope everybody is doing well.

Any Pocketeers for today? I’ll put myself on the list:

Good luck everyone, quite an impressive list already!

@at thank you for the encouragement too!! I’m losing track with so many posts!!

    Day 15 UK NFD

@fatrabbit – you are a great inspiration to us all, well done on your achievement so far

Good luck to all the fasters today.

@fatrabbit – Well done. I’m learning that nothing tells the weight loss story like the old clothes that are too big.

I’ve always found shopping for trousers a mine field. When I was younger i used to buy mens trousers as I just couldn’t get a long enough in seam in ladies wear. Thankfully that has improved a lot in recent years. What I hadn’t realised until recently though is that not every company increases the rise (crotch to waist measurement) when they increase the leg length and that can make a huge difference to fit as it impacts how far below your waist the waist band will actually sit, and can make a difference of more than one size. I have to buy from Next’s tall range to get the rise I need, even though the in seam on those is actually a bit long – but I much prefer that problem to everything being too short. Plus it means I fit in a size smaller than in their normal range which is always better for the self confidence. I don’t think I can lose much more off my hips or waist but then I didn’t think there was as much to go as has already gone so I’m currently torn between buying jeans that fit now and waiting till further on in this journey.

    Day 15…..Florida….. FD

Really down – another 2lb gain! 3 FDs last week and didn’t think I was overeating that much on NFDs and my clothes are feeling looser. I’ve now got 8lbs to lose before June! I will try liquid only FD today.

    Day 13 lancaster 🇺🇸 NFD
    Day 14 lancaster 🇺🇸 NFD
    Day 15 lancaster 🇺🇸 NFD

I’ve learned a valuable lesson this month. At the end of April I was so happy to get down to 241.8 that I had a double bourbon 🥃 😁. Which then lead to me eating junk on the next three NF days and the results even with two fast days was a net gain of 7 pounds. 😳 So no more over eating on NFDs and avoiding my triggers.

    Day 15 – UK – FD

Thanks for the spreadsheet update @pissupoosa. I have added my weekend NFD and FD to it.

Was not aware I had overdone it over the weekend, but the scales say otherwise and am now slightly heavier than at the start of the month which is a bit of a shock and quite depressing. Have lost another cm from the waist though and the jeans which were tight are getting loose, so I don’t know where the weight is piling on.

    Day 15, London, UK, FD,

I had a good NFD yesterday, as a 20:4 it wasn’t the feeding frenzy NFDs have been lately!! I’ve also been so busy this morning I haven’t had time to post…………… nor eat, thank goodness!!! It’s so grey and dreary this morning, I’ll have to be mindful and avoid the comfort foods which will start calling my name soon.

I hope this ½ way point finds us all feeling positive and ready for the 2nd half of May, whether because we’ve been successful so far………………… or because we’re determined to repair the damage from a faltering start to May!!!

Good luck everyone, keep the faith!!!

    Day 15– Colorado USA–
not sure yet… supposed to be NFD. Might make it low 800 calorie or 18:6 day. 🤔

@pissupoosa — other thoughts re: quitting sugar.
As I stated earlier, I did the “slow & steady” approach; weaning myself off obvious sugars first, then tackling the hidden sugars over time.

Some things I’ve given up for good (bye-bye candy!) but others I still allow on only special occasions: I never buy ice cream at home, ever. But while on holiday, I allow a serving of ice cream. So that means just 2 or 3 times each year I truly get to savor & enjoy ice cream.

On Thanksgiving, I get one slice of pumpkin pie. The rest of the pie gets devoured by coworkers in the break room. Same with any birthday cake/ pie. I keep the sweets to a true minimum so that they are special & rare.

One thing I’ve noticed: giving up sugar changes your taste buds. I’m now hyper-sensitive to sweetness!
One surgeon brings donuts to work every Friday. My goodness when I open the break room door, it’s like getting punched in the face with a sugar bomb!
