Day 13 Florida USA NFD Successful fast day yesterday. Felt good to make waffles with fruit this am! Recorded my measurements in Tracker for the first time. I know I’ve lost around the waist, my problem area, but I have a ways to go. @pissupoosa, if you need this for the chart it’s Neck-13″, Chest-37″, Waist-27″, Hips-37″. Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow to those who celebrate it!
Day 13 – USA – FD
@lmrenfrey, oh to be a 12 again! Haven’t seen that number since 2004! @lany36, so sorry I did not catch that you were not posting…as much as I respond when I read the posts, I don’t always write down who said it! @loubelles, hurray for the whoosh! @jojo58, glad to hear Tilly is mending; you are wise to give the sibling extra treats, lol! @saffy420, good for your 2 lbs. loss!
Day 13, Pacific NW USA, liquid only FD, weigh in tomorrow
I’m locked out of the building where I’m suppose to be setting up for a presentation I’m giving today so I’ve made lemonade out of lemons and decided that this time was made for catching up with you all (I’ve been swamped with work all week). The phone call I got says the relief custodian is on the way which shouldl still give me a half hour to set up. Breathe, breathe . . .
Day 9 FD, ended up about 500 cal rather than liquid only as I was so hungry before bedtime that I knew I would not sleep
Day 10, 11, 12 NFD’s
When I get too busy during the day I don’t sleep peacefully or in any way fully and I think that tends to cause a little “bloat”. I’ve been staying close to TDEE on NFD’s but my slacks are definitely tighter. I’ll see what the scale has to say about it tomorrow.
Weighed in this morning, still within my happy weight range, however would like to drop below 150 because I’ve never been that weight my entire life and I want to see if I can do it. Today and tomorrow are NFD,for mother’s day weekend. I plan to start 16:8 on my NFD starting today.
Happy mother’s day to all those who celebrate it!
Day 13 US NFD/CD
Weight for May
157.6 lbs May 5 weight
156.6 May 6
155.6 May 12
155.6 May 13
Still only lost 2lbs, seems like a strange month for me.
As well as @onahealthyhigh I will be joining the Pocket fasters Monday, and for me Tuesday.😊
It’s raining here but we are going to make the most of our weekend. Shopping and doing fun things we haven’t had time to do this week.
@fatrabbit you make me smile😅😊Thanks✨(from yesterday)
@fatrabbit uh oh, is everything ok with your family?🤞💛🤞🙏
@coda it is nice 😊that our family is able to coordinate our FD’s BSD800 and our NFD’s. We are each getting better and controlling our impulse if others are eating in the house.😅
@missj2002 Hope you are feeling better soon.😊
@lany36 Thanks for sharing about your profession of being an RN in the operating theatre. Sounds like it could be demanding and stressful. But also interesting and important work. ✨I’m wishing you well on your FD today! ✨It’s important ✨Good for you!✨
@perthgirl I like that! It most definitely works for our group! ✨Tomorrow is another chance to do better.✨
@jojo58 That sounds like serious news, Your cholesterol level being st 7.2. What are you numbers for hypertension. What is your blood pressure reading?
@back2thefuture I hope your presentation went well. Nice time management skills👍Good luck on your FD✨✨✨You Got This!✨😊
Something to think about:
The best thing you can do is get good at being you✨😀
✨Together we are Stronger😊✨
Day 13– Colorado USA– Friday, Saturday & Sunday are all 3 NFDs as normal.
I have just under 4 weeks till OH & I take a quick trip to Florida to soak up sun, visit family, swim the lazy river & maybe go to Universal Studio Orlando. Four weeks ought to be enough time to make some decent progress!
I’ve been thinking of the article @coda posted where they talked about “deciding your minimum-minimum” and doing at least that, so you can feel good about winning at some goals.
So over the next 4 weeks, my minimum-minimums for each category are as follows:
1– FASTING. It doesn’t have to be water only. My bare minimum would be one day per week, staying below 500 calories.
2– FITNESS. Every morning, I’ll give myself a good wake-up with a mini-circuit: push-ups, bent over dumbbell rows, squats & crunches/knee-ins. My minimum here would be 10 reps of each move, completing the circuit 3 times.
3– FOOD. I must eat more veggies!! Every day at the very minimum, I will eat a large mixed-veg tossed salad or blender up mixed-geeens to sip on at work. (I’ve got a tasty recipe if anyone is interested!)
So that’s my plan to make progress, using minimum baby-steps, that will let me tuck some “Wins!” under my belt &. bolster up my confidence. Special thanks to @coda for the article.

2nd post
@okeydokey The family is fine, or as fine as they ever are. I just had a bit of a shock as I relised that I had done something stupid and it knocked me right down. I was surprised how badly I crashed as I have been so much better lately. But I have picked myself up much better and faster than I would have been able to before and knocked the catastrophising on the head before it carried me too far. I found an article today talking about how they are trialling gut bacteria as a treatment for PTSD. The mental/gut connection certainly makes sense to me. My thinking is much clearer these days even if the triggers did go off with a huge bang last night. I could have done without it, but actually I may learn from it so everything is good. And I planned cheese into my meal today so that I can’t have another Saturday cheese incident. I had a lump of mozzerella on mashed kidney beans with chilis and sugar snap peas with salad leaves and an apricot. Probably 800 calories and that’s fine, better than not feeling satisfied and eating something I will regret later.
So strange. Still not seeing my post. Will try to re-post again here. Hope it actually takes!
(My apologies if this comes thru multiple times.)

13–NFD–MA, USA
12–NFD
11–NFD
I didn’t get in as many fasts this past week as I was planning, but at a certain point decided to just allow myself a few regular days in a row. I will start fresh on Monday. I’ve been working out a lot, but eating too many carbs. Hope to correct the diet imbalance next week. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Day 13 – UK – NFD
Day 14 – UK – NFD
Late for Saturday checkin- early for Sunday.
Good luck with your presentation @back2thefuture – hope everything works out well.
Day 13 NFD St. Louis USA
Had an early Mother’s Day lunch with my girls today. Stayed on the fit menu. Took a nice long walk and had a pedicure. Still low-energy from my bout with an early summer cold. Planning to cut grass and do yardwork tomorrow. Signed on as a host home for sustainable backyard tour. Now I’m feeling anxious about it. It’s the same thing when company is coming and you really need to clean your house. I’m trying to go negative in my backyard, no chemicals and minimal watering. It takes a lot of time to get started and I’ve been on it about 4 to 5 years with lots still needs to be done. It gets expensive as well. However gardening and yard work also uses up a lot of calories and keeps me busy so I’m not eating.
@happymargo I like your fitness schedule. It seems pretty simple and doable. I typically don’t do push-ups because I’m really not doing them correctly because of some blowback stuff. I might add push-ups on the knees though. I also tried to do 15 minutes of yoga in the morning.
I saw some of you posted kimchi recipes during the week. They sound yummy and I’m going to try them I’ve done some fermentation in the past and made sauerkraut and ketsup. Liked both. I regularly make kombucha and put a half a cup in my good girl moonshine that I use daily.
Happy Mother’s Day to mothers in the USA. When those of you in UK for posting about Mother’s Day I got confused and thought we had forgotten it. 🙂
I kept seeing post about the “Whoosh effect” and just got time to click one of the links to check it out. Wow! I have lost about 10 pounds since I’ve been doing ADF but have noticed this squishy fat around my waist and my waist measurements haven’t decreased much. I couldn’t quite figure out why as my belly seems to have firmed up. This squishy waste business was a bit troubling. Now I’m more hopeful but I also think exercise is helpful for pumping of those cells.
Day 14 Tas Australia NFD
Happy Mother’s Day to all who are celebrating today, and really to all all who deserve it but have already celebrated too. I hope you all have a great day. I have had a lovely morning and managed to move us on from the pancakes that would have been made a couple of years ago to smoked salmon and eggs for mothers day breakfast! Happy with that, it was delicious.
@sirisan I think a better pish up option than knee push ups is doing full body ones but higher. Starting off on the wall, then when you can do those moving lower to a kitchen bench or something like that. It’s a good way to use the same muscles but not as hard. Don’t know if that would work with your problems. Works for me anyway.
Day 14/NFD/Melbourne Australia
Thank you @coda @debster and @flourbaby support gratefully received.
@coda when I started 5:2 in 2014 I had given up all hope of losing weight and wanted to boost my health as I approached retirement. When I steadily began to lose weight I focused on reaching 59kg my goal set by Weight Watchers. I’m a lifetime member. I’d only managed to reach this weight once in the last thirty years and have never successfully maintained. To my delight 5:2 proved very successful and I continued to lose weight. Finally settling on 56kg as my happy weight BMI 22 but I still think of my goal weight as the one set by WWs!
@okeydokey hugs. I missed a few posts. Hope all is well.
Day 14 – FIN – NFD
Today’s weight: 60.5 kg
A 0.1 kg gain from last week, which puts me at the weight I started this month’s challenge. Not surprised by the numbers though, as I did have not one but three pieces of cake past midnight last night (I blame it on ESC) – if there’s actually any loss taking place, the cake in my stomach is keeping me from seeing that.
As I’m not shedding weight at the same pace I did last month (not surprising taking into account what I’ve been eating), my minimum goal for the month is getting below 60 kg.
Now off to do a long-ish morning yoga practice. After that, I’ll try my hand at making macarons (for mother). Happy mother’s day to all you awesome mothers out there!
Hello all day 14 UK co down nfd
@fatrabbit – you are doing so well, well done. Have You heard Michael Mosley is bring out a new book clever guts diet? I think it may be in next week’s daily mail.
@happymargo sounds like a plan good for you.
Happy mothers day to all 💐
Day14 Kent UK- down 1 lb this week
I have been going up and down this week and was hoping for a better scale number today. Not going to worry, just press on. Holiday tomorrow for 5 days but I will be sensible.
Okeydokey- blood pressure excellent thanks 116/79. I do quite a bit of exercise daily and don’t actually eat saturated fats so not sure how I can reduce cholesterol levels so I am researching current scientific evidence. Not keen on taking statins if I can avoid it. Thinking about cholesterol and it’s links to heart failure have changed considerably in recent times. Hereditary factors are considered now.
Day 14 – Cumbria UK – FD
💐HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY FOR ALL OUR FRIENDS IN AUSTRALIA AND THE USA 💐
Had a lovely day helping out at the Fell Race yesterday, weather much better than predicted – after some rain early in the day the rest of the day was dry and we even had blue skies and sunshine for the second half of the race itself ☀️
Ended doing a 20:4 day yesterday – only ate in the evening – dinner out with OH at our favourite local Thai Restaurant – shared a spicy mixed seafood salad with OH and I had a 🌶🌶🌶duck curry (no coconut milk involved) with a small serve of rice – no dessert but did indulge in a 1/2 bottle of Gewurztraminer (OH is teetotaler) still came to below TDEE 🥂
Travelling down south this morning to spend some time visiting old friends where I used to live before – looking forward to lots of girlie catch up……..hope the M6 is not too busy!
@coda – thanks for the link for the whoosh effect and for continuing to inspire us with some very relevant posts, useful information and motivation 🌹
@belfastsink – if it’s any consolation I think that how you felt yesterday does get better, well OH says he’s amazed at how I can cook a meal for him, bake cakes for the group I volunteer at or watch cooking programs when I’m doing a FD……..I just keep telling myself that tomorrow is my day to eat what I really like if I feel like it and so don’t feel deprived anymore – hope this happens for you too xx
@happymargo – will be thinking of you tomorrow when your blood results come in – fingers crossed
@songbirdme – so glad the military service at the cemetary was moving and that you were able to get to speak about my brother – building precious memories x
@allsmiles – isn’t it funny how when we succumb to cravings/temptations we often then find that the said item was not really that nice or enjoyable…..happens to me all the time so I now try to remind myself of that feeling when tempted…….does not always work 😈
@booper-dooper – welcome on board – you and your mum and dad can support each other on this journey
@okeydokey – glad we could all support you and keep you going on your FD and we will be there for you later in June when you need us 🤗
@abogage – Well Done on reaching your target – such a wonderful feeling so definitely a happy dance time💃 Keep going and join those of us who are in maintenance – 5:2 is a WOL
@onahealthyhigh – hope you find your happy place soon – we all believe that you can be the trim, happy, healthier, vibrant woman you know you can be – TOGETHER WE HELP EACH OTHER ACHIEVE
@lany36 – take baby steps to get readjusted back to the world of operating theatres – very different from what you have been doing – I bet no one expects you to just step in and function so don’t put too much pressure on yourself – remember what you used to enjoy about that type of nursing and why you went back to it 🤗
@bigviking – you are a machine!!! already 8.1lb / 3.7kg for May and we are only 1/2 way through the month 👍
@jarbia – so glad you had a fab time during your Cornwall break – beautiful part of the UK
@jojo58 – my cholesterol is around the same, but I believe that the Total Cholesterol HDL ratio result is the more important number (i.e. ratio of good v bad) Like you I’m not keen on taking statins if I can avoid it and as I am asymptomatic I will not be starting them and my GP agrees with me on that one. This is what I found when I researched what foods were good for reducing cholesterol when I found out that mine was high – hope you find it helpful.
Oats and barley
Soya foods
Nuts
Foods fortified with plant sterols and stanols – Plant sterols/stanols are naturally found in a wide range of foods such as vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
Pulse (beans, peas, lentils) everyday. Other rich sources of soluble fibre include sweet potato, aubergine, okra (ladies finger), broccoli, apples, strawberry and prunes
Foods rich in unsaturated fats – found in olive, sunflower, corn, rapeseed and other vegetable, nut and seed oils.
Other foods rich in unsaturated fats include vegetable spreads, avocado, oily fish and nuts. Avoid coconut and palm oil as, unlike other these vegetable oils, they are rich in saturated fats.
@happymargo – love your positive minimum-minimums post
I’m off to get ready for the drive down south and the sun is shining so I’m feeling good for the long drive.
Positive vibes to all who are on this May 2017 31-Day Challenge (1st Anniversary!) – I leave you with this thought:-
“Pythagoras said: “The beginning is half the whole”. Once you make the first step everything else becomes easier; but it is important to make that step otherwise you cannot expect to finish something you did not start”
Happy Sunday to all wherever you are in the world
FD for me today never done a Sunday FD normally FD days are Monday Thursday but family visiting tomorrow and will want feeding, job of the day gardening weather is great in Cornwall sun cream to the ready, weight loss is going well join 5:2 in April and already lost 5.2kg in weight hoping to reach my target in October happy weighing’s to all.
Day 14 NFD NZ
@cleo120- I feel very much in the same place as you.
I had a week of only 1 FD and decided to let it go.
I’m fasting tomorrow (Monday) through until Tuesday after work then again Thursday.
I’m taking the week as a firm reset and concentrating on my NFDs. I’ve had some people mention I have lost weight and I know if I commit to my FDs and take control being accountable for my choices on NFDs that will continue.
Day 14, London, UK, NFD.
Quick check-in before starting my meal prep for the week (I’ve got to get the 24hr bone broth on the go ASAP), then I’ll relax with a well-deserved mocha and catch-up with any posts.
I think I’ve finally reversed last weekends’ damage, I MUST remain focussed and mindful…………… saw this yesterday, very apt!!!!
“It isn’t the one biscuit you eat that puts weight on its finishing the packet!”
Good luck everyone, keep the faith!!!
Day 13 / UK / NFD
Day 14 / UK / NFD
Thanks, @coda, @goldensun, @debster251, @at and others, who picked up my issue of treating myself ON TOP of a compliment. I’m glad it’s not just me! @okeydokey, oh no, you are giving me license to buy even more clothes! (that’s been the other area of overindulgence recently 😉 ) “Keeping the focus on the bigger picture” (and the “million dollar question,” I love that!): I will definitely work on that—she says as she’s having two very comfortable (though reasonable) NFDs. Have recovered from a little physical and mental lowness yesterday (just headaches and sense of general shatteredness) and am feeling much better this morning. Like the sun that’s shining through my roof window. I have been knocking on the doors of 61.9kg for days now, I hope to finally break into the 61s next week—I CAN DO THIS, always onwards and downwards!
Happy Sunday, everyone, and a great start into week 3!
Day 14 UK FD 🌈
Ready for my whoosh! Drinking the water. 🍶
Happy Mothers Day, to all who are celebrating, I think it’s USA and Australia, in the U.K. It is earlier we had it in March. 🌷🌸🌺🌼🌻🌹
Happy Sunday to all, keep at it. My scales are not my friend atm 😔but I will keep going 🤷🏼♀️and 17 days to go for this month, it all could change to give me an aMAYzing result. 💃🏼
🙏
Day 14 – UK – FD
My weight has been barely changing recently.. considering I’m halfway through May, I’m wondering whether I need to come up with a more achievable weight target for the end of the month. I think I’ll make it 60kg instead of 59kg, as after all, my ultimate goal is 58kg, and if it takes longer to lose but is more sustainable, that’s okay.
X
@happymargo “yes, please!” to that healthy greens smoothie recipe, thank you!
Day 14 Newcastle UK NFD.
Just back off 25 mile bike ride, very lucky where I live most of the old railway lines that delivered coal to the river Tyne have been turned into Bridle paths that criss cross the county, a good 22 of those miles are off road through wooded dean’s, coastal Cliff tops, sandy bays, ancient monuments like Tynemouth Priory and around the fishing port of North Shields. Yes that was a nice ride out today.
This week’s been a funny weak weight has been up and down will post my weight and measurements tomorrow my body shape is changing weekly which is very pleasing. I’m off up to the allotment this afternoon to plant peas and beans that should help move a few more ounces lol.
Hope your all having a lovely weekend.
Loving this diet at the moment and enjoying the exercise routine feeling focused on reaching my goals.😀
Day 14 Maine NFD
Good morning all – happy Mother’s Day where it’s celebrated! Son in Austin, Tx sent lovely flowers & large box of barbecue – ribs & briskit. Tempted to break into ribs tonight, but froze them for a time when we have a large gathering this summer. Otherwise, I’d be eating them for days! Instead, while at work, hubby roasting a chicken, sweet potato & steaming broccoli. One of my favorite flavor combo’s & pretty controlled.
Off I go out into the pouring rain to check out over 200 rooms…hopefully happy guests as yesterday managed to stay dry.
So enjoy starting my day catching up on all your posts! Thanks everybody! Make it a happy, mindful & successful day!
@lany36. — I feel you girl!
My OH has a desk job, with plenty of down time to surf the internet, drink as much coffee or water as he likes, use the restroom whenever necessary, walk around & grab a snack at will. Nothing like our job!
I try to explain to him what working in the OR (operating room/ theatre) is like. Very physically demanding: Lifting heavy equipment, moving patients & machines all day. Bending, cleaning, walking, lifting. Non-stop. We rarely, if ever sit down during a 10-12 hour shift. No breaks, no drinking water or anything. Which is probably good, because then you’d have to pee & there’s no such thing as just leaving the OR to hit the loo. You’re stuck in there! By the end of my long work day, I am totally dehydrated. I’m jealous of our Fellow Fasters able to sip down 2L -3L of water each day!
Lany, I have taught myself (over several years of practice) to not use sugar as a pick-me-up boost. The inevitable sugar crash afterward is not worth it. I miss my Skittles & Star Burst candies! But my body has gotten better at burning fat now.
Hang in there, Sister RN! You’re smart & tough! You can do this!
Day 14…..Florida….. NFD
On a healthy high…… I experience the same thing, except I didn’t receive any in my in box. When I got on I rechecked the notification box, hopefully this does the trick.
HappyMargo….. coming to my neck of the woods……. we’re having some odd weather down here…. temps are above normal. I’m about an hour from Orlando. Remind ma a couple days before you leave and I can get you the extended forecast for your time down here.
Sirisan…… My Oh and I are avid gardeners, we are also toxic free. We use merrigolds and sunflowers for pest control and it works fantastic. We’ve been doing it for years, with no buggy issues. Plus, seeing the flowers it produces gives a nice look to the garden. Just an FYI, backyard tour!
So, I went a bit off the rails yesterday on my NFD. I knew I was doing it and still did it anyways. I’m striving for a more controlled day today. And see how that goes.
Today, Imgoing to try and stay busy, so that I say far away from the kitchen. The hubby and I decided to give our room a well deserved up grade, paint, new flooring, and maybe put in those new French doors I’ve been eyeing up for the new patio, he wants to put in. But first I must tackle the un forgiving piles of clothes, I have laying all over the floor. The closet is a standard walkin 4×6, but recently I had to dig out some paperwork so those boxes got thrown in there along with all the hateful clothes lying all over the floor in there. I want to get them around, to drop them off at the second hand store.
My plan is to spend 20 min. a day cleaning out, so that will give me a good start on it. Plus, if this 20 min. thing works out, I think I’m going to start downsizing the amount of crap, I have in this house. I’ve always want to go the minimalist lifestyle.
I guess you got to start somewhere!
Happy Mothers Day!
Chin up Princess…. your. Crown is slipping!
Day 14– Colorado USA– NFD
