It’s still Day 7 here in Alaska and I’m about to go to bed but wanted to add my name to the list of pocketeers for day 8 as I will in fasting and attempting not to eat anything until dinner making it a true 24 hours fast.

Day 8 UK NFD
Very bad day yesterday. Proper binge. Cheese and chocolate. Well deserved headache:(( At least there is nothing I am likely to be tempted by left in the house. I am hoping for a nice controlled NFD today and then back to fasting tomorrow. 188.2 lbs this morning. Surprisingly small penalty but it may have a delayed effect of course and it will be up tomorrow. Still not caught up on posts, sorry.
Day 8 UK NFD π
Have a good day all. X πHad a few days away and visitors which means eating out and treats, all lovely stuff. Not much posting from me but I’m still here, reading all posts when I get time, great results for some of u, I hope to be reporting good news soon. It’s within my power π₯ ha ha. πππ»
Day 8 Newcastle UK FD.
Weight 14st.1lbs π down 3lbs
Neck 16.25″
Chest 41.5″
Waist 39.5″
Hip 39″
By next Monday I’d like to see 13st something that would be a first in a long time. What is pleasing is the steady drop in inches, glad I took the time to measure at the beginning of the march challenge.
Keep at it people π
Day 8 – UK – FD
Well week one is over, I am happy to say I lost 1.5 kg, it was 4 fast days in all as I am trying to get ahead a little bit as I won’t be able to fast for 9 days, so I’m getting them in early, my aim is to do extra after my visitors have gone as well. I will try and still do a quick check in quickly every day, this will be a big test for me and I hope the accountabiliy of you lovely people gives me the incentive to keep on track and not gain it back this week, which is my usual pattern.
@at thank you for your support, glad you had a lovely weekend, sounds like you are doing some forward planning as well.
Happy Monday everyone π€

Day 8 Belfast FD
The scales are down 2 lbs this morning. Well pleased with that. Now the challenge is to keep it there. 11 stone 1.75. My goal is 10 stone something (again)
@tlc2. great results. Hope I can get there soon too!
@lilymartin, your post took me back to my 16 year old self, guitar in hand, on the stage in assembly, singing her heart out! What would I tell that super skinny young woman with the concave stomach? You can guess! Maybe if she sang those words, she mightn’t have been where she is now!
@snowflake56 Great story and what fantastic weight loss! You should be proud!
@erika45 I’m guessing your daughter is at an English school? I’ve always wondered about education when you live abroad.
@okeydokey and Fordprefect, a big well done to your twins. I’ve taught many sets of twins and have often wondered whether there is extra stress at exam times because of their sibling? Fordprefect, my OH wants to know if you actually have a Ford prefect, and if so, which year is it? (He’s a petrol head!)
@lindasue, how I would love humming birds. Your wildlife sounds so exotic. Mum used to have woodpeckers in her garden but they aren’t so far north. I have a tame robin which comes to my doorstep. You’d almost think he was begging!
Onahealthyhigh, your rainforests are truly amazing. I used to teach about the rainforest, and was in forests near Melbourne and Cairns. I was blown away by the magnitude and diversity. Thank you for the calculator link. That one gives me a TDEE of 1672 and the one on this site calculate 1982. That’s a lot of calories of a difference!
@steve Toon Taxi Driver, what inspiration you are! Does Mrs Taxi Driver exercise with you? She must be very patient if she doesn’t! Your exercise regime is Awesome! Well done to Newcastle and no πΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΎ! Wow!
@big Viking, that’s so true! My OH wonders why I spend so much time reading and posting! Keep up your good work! You’re progress is inspirational!
Count me in!

I’m sending you all some rays today. Nothing like some sunshine to lift your mood! We seem to have an uncustomary ration! Stay strong everyone and have a good day.
Day 8 UK NFD
Lovely sunny day here! Again! So uncharacteristic…
Weight today still 66.2 Kg , a loss of 1.3 Kg for the week. My 4 FD last week obviously cancelling out any effects of my weekend away! So happy with that and that I stayed on track. Well done to everyone on the first week! Looking forward to the results at the end of the month and thanks to all for the amazing support!
Day 8 UK FD
@okeydokey Thanks for reminding me,I got my copy of the fast beach diet out and was determined to stick to it as I was 6 weeks away from my holiday …..well still nearly 4 weeks to go so I’m giving it another go as usual I’m full of determination ,if only I could carry that Monday feeling through the week ,I’m giving it a go !
Good luck pocketeers
@steve toon taxi driver Congrats on the win but I’m even more impressed on your resolution ,definitely going to try and emulate this week
Day 8, Belfast, FD
Hope to keep busy enough today. I haven’t had time to catch up with all the posts, but the ones I have managed to read demonstrate how dedicated and supportive you all are!

Day 8 – Scotland – FD
Thank you for adding me to the list of pocketeers!
Drinking my second cup of coffee (I only drink single espresso, and on FD I have 3 of them, instead of max 2). I jumped on the scale today: 59.6kg. At the end of April I was 59.9 but then I had 4 terrible days of binge eating (like 150gr of chocolate biscuits before lunchtime and 4 magnum ice creams in the afternoon, plus large meals for lunch and dinner…arghhh). The official excuse is that I was overtired: my baby is teething plus has a bad cold, and I slept 3 or 4 hour average per night. It is an excuse, but I was feeling down. I’m still tired, but last night was slightly better – only one hour of crying between 3am and 4am and then both boys woke up at 7.15. My problem is that, even if I’m tired, I struggle to fall asleep so I slept less than 6 hours which is not enough for me.
Back to my coffee now, before somebody wakes from his nap! π
Day 8, London, UK, NFD
Yesterdaysβ FD became a NFD as expected, so today is my 5th NFD in a row after my B2B2B attempt last week, not sure this is going to be the best system, I much prefer ADF as I feel more in control that way!!! Iβll save B2B2Bs for preparation before big events or weekends that I KNOW wonβt be controlled!!!!
@bigviking, Big congrats on an amazing loss so far!!! I guess the lack of enthusiasm from the family is standard from those not walking your path!!! The big attitude shift came for me with some new clothing, wearing the same clothes (only looser) doesnβt show the losses as much as new well-fitting clothes do, THATβs when people take noticeβ¦β¦old clothes=old you=familiar;β¦β¦β¦β¦ new clothes=new you= WOW!!!!
@steve toon taxi driver, Congrats to the Magpies!!!!…………… and to your resolve!!!!!!
Good luck everyone, I canβt wait to re-join the wagon tomorrow, lesson well and truly learnt!!!……..Again!
Day8 UK FD
Another Monday, another FD. Went shopping yesterday and there was loads of fish in the “must go”fridge. So the freezer is well and truly stocked for the next couple of weeks. @steve toon taxi driver, well done to the Magpies and well done to you – no beer, wow. @dunk, welcome to the group. It’s never too late to join.
After being virtuous and smug on Saturday, I fell through a hole in the wagon and landed in calorie overload yesterday. Hoping that today’s fast will mean that yesterday and today will be well under 2 days TDEE. @flourbaby I agree that the people close to you don’t always notice if you’re in the same clothes. I was a bit miffed on Saturday when not one of a group of friends mentioned my weight loss, on the way home I said to my oh that I was going to buy something for next weekend to make them see! Don’t know why it irked me so much, I’ve not turned into Kate Moss in the last 3 months!
Day 8 Maine NFD
We actually saw some sun yesterday! Most guests checking out were quite happy – had made the best of the gloomy weather….including the wedding party that got drenched in a downpour!
Quite a successful fast day – down another pound – 3 lbs so far in May! Bestie coming up for a 2 night visit – might be quite challenging food wise. I think Chinese tonight & favorite summer seafood shack tomorrow. I know by being mindful I can do well – key is “mindful”. I know I can do it if I don’t just give up & blow it. She loves to walk, so, maybe we’ll be able to get some walking in between raindrops!
Truly inspired by all the successful posts – thanks everyone for sharing. May is looking good!
@lumat – hope you can get some sleep – don’t beat yourself up – just take “baby” steps (no pun intended!) & just work on being mindful. In a blink, they’ll be grown!
Make it a great day everybody…we can do it!
Day 8 – Cumbria UK – FD
Woke up to bright sunshine but with a cool breeze – lovely spring day βοΈπ·
Had a routine dentist check up early today so that got started on a good note – all good until next check up in 6 months π
@snowflake56 – Thank you for adding me to the Pocketeers list for today
@pissupoosa – no apologies needed – we all need to prioritise our lives when things happen – we are very grateful that you stepped up to co-ordinate the forum this month – hope this week is a bit better for you – HUGS
@onahealthyhigh – envious of your long walks along pristine ocean beaches and through beautiful rainforests – sounds wonderful
I compared my TDEE using the calculator on this website 6553 kJ (1566kcal) and the one you posted 7600 kJ (1816kcal) a difference of 1047kj (250kcal) – I think I’ll stick to the lower one as mostly I have been able to stick to it barring the odd blip!!!
@okeydokey and @lilymartin – thank you for the kind remarks – I think it harbours back to my job before retirement, where I loved encouraging others to their full potential…….
@tlc2 – good job π
@bigviking – my goodness – 1st 13.1lb / 27.1lb / 12.3kg since March 20th π
@steve-toon-taxi-driver – nearly under that 14st mark…….you can do this in a week!
@yolina – well done on that 1.5 kg loss – I do like to plan an extra FD in the week before I go away for a break, I find it helps to set me up for a mindful week away – Maintenance has to be worked at as much as losing weight – I don’t like feeling deprived and fasting for 2 days a week is such a small price to pay!
@debster251 – another 2lbs gone @mia139 – 1.3kg downπ
@dunk and @paulmarsh – WELCOME – NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN – we are a big and friendly group with everyone at different stages of their 5:2 WOL and some on maintenance as well. Share as much or as little as you feel like but you will have great support here. It would be helpful for @pissupoosa who is leading the May Challenge if you could start your daily post with the day of the month, where you are, and if you are doing a FD (Fast day) or a NFD (Non Fast Day). Example today for me would be Day 8 β Cumbria UK β FD. Add more to your daily post or not as you please. If you donβt sign in daily then just update at the start of your post whether each day since you last signed in was a FD or NFD β makes updating the spreadsheet a bit easier β Thanks
Postive vibes to all doing a FD today and mindful eating for those on NFD β A positive thought to take us all through the second week of this May Challenge
βEach morning we are born again β What we do today is what matters mostβ β Buddha
Pocketeers List for Day 8 β I have updated the list with everyone’s name I saw that was dong a FD today If you are fasting please copy & paste then add your name to the post. β TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

Day 8 Portugal NFD
60.4kg
Decided to weigh more often to keep me accountable so will do that after each FD. Managed to finish out yesterday as a FD meaning that ADF continued through weekend. Weight slightly down…can’t wait to leave behind the 60s and get into the 50s .. that will be a milestone and something I haven’t seen for nearly a decade! Clothes are feeling looser which is great.
@debster yes my daughters are at international school which follows British curriculum. My eldest is doing A levels and wants to return to Ireland to study in belfast. Hoping and praying she makes the grades.
@debster251
The wife has a real bad back she does a little gentle walking but could never managed anything too strenuous, we’ve both been dieting since our mid 40s weight watchers mainly she loose 0.5bls most weeks and is more disciplined than me. The children are up and gone so no junk food in the house, she hides the treats for the Grandchildren that pop in and out all the time from me lol. The first thing once home is 20min on the rowing machine. I get up at 6am most days so Sunday’s bike ride nice and early 8am ish for a couple of hours.
@brightonbelle.
It’s the youngest son’s wedding in a few months so that’s where my focus is coming from. I’ve had a few hicups since starting the 5/2 mid march but just add another FD to the week to compensate. I also skip breakfast and first food 12 noon on both FD and NFD my life is quite organised with it just being me and the wife.
Day 8– Colorado USA– FD
Back from camping & hiking in the woods with OH. Sorry no cell service. Missed you guys, but felt nice to “unplug” though!
Of course Friday, Saturday & Sunday were NFDs, but off set by loads of hikes & walking the dog.
One day, we set off on a 5 mile hike. Had pics of the trail map & gps. We never encountered the left turn in the trail. But we were optimistic, so kept on hiking. Ended up doubling our objective & made it back to camp just under ten miles (16 km)!! Whew!
I did NOT feel bad about the hearty dinner I wolfed down that night! π
Typically Monday is NFD, but I’ve volunteered to go into work to cover an OR for another RN that had a family emergency. So kicking off my week with a FD.
I’ve just begun making homemade Kefir. It’s fantastic!! Hoping it will do wonderful things for my Crohn’s. So today I’ll only have Kefit & some homemade asparagus-cauliflower soup. YUM!!!
Day 8 – Switzerland – FD
Phew, really enjoyed last night’s concert, but the acoustic in the Abbey swallowed everything, so I could only really hear the two singers behind me, which made it a bit more tricky than usual. Finished off with Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and the soloists really made the most of the magnificent echoey sound. Gorgeous! @songbirdme, sadly I missed the Requiem, as the choir sang it last year so I’ll have to wait until it comes round again. I utterly love it, so can only imagine how it would feel to sing in the chorus…
Also pleased to report a loss of 800g, down to 92.5kg. Enjoying today’s fast, isn’t it funny how it can be so easy some days, but so tough on others? Anyway, happy to link up with today’s pocketeers, good luck everyone!

Holding at 160, my maintenance weight. Lovely couple of days seeing the sun! Rain predicted for tomorrow, so likely will get the lawn mowed today. I leave on Wednesday for my brother’s funeral (full military service, he was a retired Naval officer) so will be in San Diego, California for a few days.
@and.exhale – your concert sounds divine! I went on a European tour with a choir in my teens where we sang in several cathedrals, so I know what you mean about the sound there.
Ever so proud of everyone on this blog. You’re all amazing, losing or not.

@at you’re welcome
@debster251 and @lilymartin I think I can only stay at my current weight because I don’t eat any sugar anymore. Sugar caused my downfall, I don’t know what will happen if I’m starting to eat it again, don’t want to try it out, too scared to go back where I came from.
@onahealthyhigh Thank you for the link. I use the TDEE on this site, it allows me 1305 kcal a day, I can live on that and keep my weight with one FD a week at the same level. The other TDEE allows me 1648 kcal, that’s a lot more, I think I would gain weight eating this amount of calories each day. I’ll stay with the lower TDEE.
hello day 8 UK Co Down FD
I haven’t caught up on all the posts on page 14 and this (p 15) to read but wanted to post for today.
Was celebrating today when I weighed this morning 161.75 lbs and that was after not only a weekend but a weekend away – happy dance!!! So I am hoping I can make progress with these 2 fast days.
@a.e. – so glad you didn’t quit – just remember keep on keeping on when things get tough – You can do it!!
@annnursekirk – so sorry you feel you have to leave us. There are so many permutations of 5:2 I am sure one would have suited. Would you consider staying on the challenge thread just to keep in touch with us?
@lola907 – these floodgates have triggers which I liken to the same as drug addiction. Someone who abuses drugs can sometimes keep clean until a trigger starts an all empowering craving which they have no control over – sound familiar? Don’t be ashamed – we have all been there, done that but it helps to look and identify triggers for these out of control moments. They say sugar is as powerful as heroin and more addictive than cocaine as it hijacks the same brain pathways. For me after a particular recent battle with my dragon I eventually with a bit of effort went a full day cold turkey – once I did that I have felt better and much more in control. I have had a weekend away and while I did have a glass of wine or a large gin and tonic I drank it with my dinner. I enjoyed delicious food and enjoyed good company with some swimming and waking thrown in. I feel good at being in control. At the moment I ask myself do I want to risk the chance of releasing my dragon again? That out of control period was horrible and is very fresh in my mind? I want to look and feel a million dollars as I approach my 60th birthday, so am asking do I want my decision to cost me a million dollars. At the moment my resolve is strong so I am making the most of it. Don’t ever feel angry at yourself or ashamed but keep learning from mistakes and be determined to do better. Tomorrow is always a fresh opportunity.
There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative – W Clement Stone.
Day 8 – UK – FD
Weight 56.9kg – Waist 79cm. So loss of only 0.2kg for the week but 1cm gone from my waist.
Gloomy overcast day today reflecting my mood. On the other hand, is perfect for my run later today. Will be splitting my calories so I eat half 3 hours before run and then have soup planned for evening meal.

Day 8 USA-FD
(Days 6 and 7 were NFD)
Had a great weekend away in Seattle seeing my daughter and an old friend I haven’t seen in many years. Seattle is a foodie paradise and we ate at a phenomenal Syrian restaurant. Amazing how great a big meal tastes when it’s a treat rather than a habit.
Anyway, that was good and now I’m really looking forward to a day of fasting and getting back on track.
Day 8, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD
Back to the first of three fasting days – probably not eating from 6 at night until 2 or so the next afternoon. Then I will eat maybe a grapefruit, some whole grain crackers with a bit of cheese or something, then a light dinner (big salad with red wine pomegranate vinegar) about six. Total calories will be below 500.
Today’s weight 142.8, below goal weight of 145.
Lots of work today but will try to catch up on the reading on my lunch hour – being I won’t be eating lunch. haha…..
To your health, all.
