  • Day 5 St. Louis USA NFD
Did try to do fast day yesterday and stayed around 600 cal five times between got off. Wasn’t hungry due to cold so mostly liquids. Thought it was rather odd the difference how one feels when intentionally fasting are when sick and can’t really eat. Don’t have much energy to do anything though.

All my best to those fasting and for the weekend.

Day 5 – NFD but Friday Fizz 🍾🍸will try to be be good 😊

    Day 5, Germany, NFD

Day 5–MA, USA, FD (800 cal.)
    Day 4–MA, USA, FD

Trying to get my fourth fast day in before the weekend. I didn’t log in yesterday because I was so busy, but that was good for getting through the fast day! Wednesday’s NFD was not controlled at all. I left work and snacked continually. Definitely exceeded my TDEE. I need to develop a different relationship to slip ups. I know it’s not the way to react, but as soon as I eat too much of one thing, I often tell myself “Since you’ve already messed up, you may as well just keep going.” Not a healthy mentality, I know…and a hard one to shift, too. Hopefully tomorrow’s NFD will be more mindful.

    Day 5: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD.
@coda an’all, I’ve decided to step back from the challenges for awhile….the repeated failure is not doing me any good mentally.
Thanks for all your kind words and suggestions, but I just don’t seem to be able to do it at the moment. Sorry. I’ll still be around, and look in on you all from time to time, until I feel better. xx

    Day 5 UK NFD🌈

Have a good day all. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ»

Day 5 – West Midlands, UK – NFD

I’ve had 2 successful FDs, and stuck to within my TDEEs and even having a couple of treats; had a lovely choccy cup cake at work today (someone’s birthday) packed full of calories 369 calls !!!!!! But I’m still within my TDEEs by making other good food choices throughout the day. I think where I’ve gone wrong in the past is that I’ve cut out everything like choc, bread, butter, wine and when I’ve reached my goal, I’ve binged because I’ve deprived myself. I feel I’m not doing that now, and it doesn’t feel too restricted except for the FDs….. wait and see what the scales say on Monday. Have a good weekend all x

    Day 4 lancaster pa NFD
Day 5. Lancaster pa FD. — correction sorry about the error

    Day 5 – UK NFD

I plannned alternate fasts this week Mon/Weds and Fri. Then yesterday turned into an unexpected FD (forgot to take lunch to work then too busy to go out and buy it. I had a really bad headache when I got home which meant I wasn’t hungry) which means I did my first b2b so today is a NFD. I thought I’d be starving but nothing too bad. I did treat myself to a lovely croissant on the way to work though. I’m still logging everything on MFP. So despite croissant, sandwich and paella for tea I can still have my traditional giant and tonic later!

    Day 5 2nd post
@annemarilyn thanks so much, I’m sure we will! Are you okay after the storm? I hear Olympia really took a beating. Schools cancelled, power out trees down … hope all is well! And I have to say, the chiro, Dutch Bros, and pedicure sounds great! Had I known all that was going on, I would have headed to your side a day early and joined youπŸ™‚. Have a good day!

    Day 5 US FD/NFD?
My 4th day of fasting is getting very difficult. Which is unusual for me. I feel like it might be the allergies, sinus infections. Just in case I don’t make it through my FD. I went ahead and weighed myself and I am pretty much the same weight as last Saturday. 156 lbs : 70.7 kg. I’ve been through this before last month for 5 days of fasting didn’t lose. The week after I lost 3 lbs. Making the amount of loss for the month 10lbs:4.53kg.
I’m feeling slimmer and clothes feel looser. So I will continue.😌😊
Hope everybody is getting on well today!😊

    Day 5 – Cumbria UK – FD 2nd post

Well still holding firm with a low calorie fluid only FD……

Had a lovely walk this morning – glorious weather and the bluebells were out in force in a forested area we walked through – smelt wonderful too!

@songbirdme – one should not feel deprived on this WOL and what can I say wine is one of my guilty pleasures………I am envious of your TDEE of 1,790 – mine is only 1539 calories. I’m sure I go over this some NFD but by still fasting for 2 days a week it seems to work to keep me below my target of 55kg
@ciren2 – Hugs my friend – you must do what makes you feel better – be a stalker of the various forums and dip in when you feel like it – just know that a lot of us here will be rooting for you and hope you find your 5:2 MOJO in the near future – try to eat healthy and mindfully and as Winnie the Pooh said – “Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think”
@lola907 – Pocketeer has come to refer to a group of people on the forum who are fasting that day – the idea is to realise that you have support if you feel yourself sliding away from your intention to have a FD – initially it was used for a small group who might be doing a special fast e.g. B2B or more
@triplet – poor you – hope the meds kick in and you feel better soon – as you say steroids are not friendly for weight loss
@bigviking – you are stronger than me – my ability to still have a glass of wine with this WOL is something that kept me going in my weight loss phase! but kudos to you for abstaining πŸ˜‡
@goldensun – well done on yesterday’s 35 hrs liquid fast – I am hoping to emulate you doing the same today into tomorrow
@fatrabbit – well done you are so committed – I’m so happy that you are seeing great results x
@happymargo – great news about your “new feet” – there will be no stopping you now……Enjoy your weekend of camping

Hope all the Pocketeers are still going strong – WE CAN DO THIS!

    Day 2 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 3 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 4 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 5 – CARDIFF UK – NFD

    Starting Weight : 159.0lbs

    Today’s Weight : 159.2lbs

    Target Weight : 154.0lbs

Had an eventful week or so, OH finally agreed to go back into hospital as his bowel had twisted again. Not sure if I’ll be able to persuade him to have surgery to stop this problem recurring – he’s had enough of hospitals.

@flourbaby, thanks for thinking of us. Today though we had some good news. OH brain tumour has not grown any further and this consultant wants him to have another scan in 6 months. This is the best news we can have. When he was diagnosed nearly 5 years ago, and one month before his 50th birthday, the initial scans suggested he may only have months to live. He’s not had it easy with repeated infections and ops, but to still be with us is amazing. He does get down, and hates being totally dependent on me, but although the tumour has affected lots of areas including memory, sight, understanding, balance and co-ordination, his personality has not been affected.

So, food wise, I’ve been a bit all over the place. Some planned FD, some FD because I’ve been worried and off my food, some NFD which have been really uncontrolled, including some serious ice cream eating. Stress either robs me of my appetite, or I comfort eat – always been an all or nothing girl!

Next FD will probably be on Monday, but this weekend I’m going to try and get things more controlled.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Day 5 UK NFD sorry quick check in will aim to catch up tomorrow x

    Still day 5 –

@Kirisnia – fortunately we were not hit too hard here. The clouds were pretty amazing and we kept getting warnings for storms including large hail. In one downpour we did get some hail briefly but nothing too bad right in this area. Sorry to hear about Olympia.

@schatziii – I’m glad you’ve received offers of help on this forum & that your professor has agreed to your receiving it. I believe SongBirdMe has her PhD so is accustomed to academic writing. May you do well!

@ciren2 – I do hope you find your way & wish you well on your journey. Know that we’re here for you.

    Day 5, Germany, NFD

Yesterday was my last day of b2b2b; I found it a bit difficult and today I felt I was physically weak until I had my lunch. By now, I think next time I will have two continues fasting days rather than three.
Today was my boyfriend’s birthday, such a special day for me. Very busy from morning till now. Aaaand the birthday cake…. actually, I could keep 300 calories under my TDEE soooo now I am proud of myself haha πŸ˜€

    @lilymartin thanks πŸ™‚

@ciran2 you can regulate your body with some days 16:8 and then get into a 24 hrs fasting. Do not condemn yourself. We are here beside you and we all experience these ups and downs.

@coda I totally agree. Reading others’ posts is absolutely helpful.

@okeydokey I hope you could continue your fasting today.

@annemarilyn Thanks. You people here are all very nice πŸ™‚

    Day 5, Germany, NFD

Yesteday was the last day of my b2b2b(actually for the first time). It was rather difficult and today untill luch I felt I was a bit weak. By now, I guess next time I will have two continues fasting day rather than three.

Also today was my boyfriend’s birthday so totally a super busy day. Aaaand the Birthday cake…. ummmm I could keep 300 calories under my TDEE :-O very proud of myself haha πŸ˜€

    @lilymartin thanks πŸ™‚

@ciren2 you can regulate your body with some days 16:8 and then get into a 24 hrs fasting. Do not condemn yourself give. We are here beside you. We all experience these ups and downs.

@okeydokey I hope you could continue your fasting today.

@annemarilyn Thank you. You people here are all very nice.

Nope, day 5 will have to be a NFD. I should have known really: there was a multi-part leaving do at work, but it was the last weekday I could squeeze another FD in, so I really had wanted to make it happen. Will tentatively try for one tomorrow instead, fingers crossed, I’ll need it! Should also be better at reading the posts again. Too much going on, lunch breaks are reduced to burning my tongue on soup, but it really helped over the last few weeks!

    Day 5 / UK / NFD
    Day 6 / UK / FD hopefully

Day 5 US FD so far…
@saffy420 What’s a giant and tonic? I just realized spell check might have gotten a hold of your word. Probably Gin and tonic😊
@pashaw You and OH have been through so much and you still have a positive attitude. I don’t know if I could be as strong. Good news that the brain tumour of OH has not grown any larger. It is a blessing that his personality hasn’t been affected. Which would make communication better. Take the time you need to take care of yourself. Getting distressed and back into balance sounds like a good plan.😊
@ciren2 Wishing you well on your journey! You are a success in my eyes. I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you well. Keep an eye out for us! Looking forward to hearing from you again in the future, when it is good for you!

I just received the Fast Beach Diet by Mimi Spencer, in the mail. I’m looking forward to reading it.✨

    Day 5- Montreal-FD

I’m trying a b2b FD today for the first time. We have a busy social weekend ahead so I’m prepping myself for that in case of over indulgence.

    Day 6 Tas Australia NFD

Another controlled nfd planned, just have to keep to it. I’m going out to dinner with OH tonight so plan to keep the rest of the day’s eating to a minimum.

    Day 5 – UK – FD

Day 5, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Today’s weight 143.2, below goal weight of 145.

Hello all, just got back from a great day out shopping with friends. Ate at a little diner that has been in business for about 75 years. Had a grilled cheese on Texas toast and fries. Yummmy. Bought some cute black sequined Kenneth Cole sandals, very sparkly in the sun.

Wishing everybody well, have to go read some posts !

    London | Day 5 | NFD

    Day 4 NFD

Hi all, just got back home from my conference – I’m absolutely shattered! Can hardly keep my eyes open. Will update spreadsheet and catch up tomorrow. Night xx

    I’m in!

NFD day 6 …weekend so need to be careful !!

    @lindasue
Love your positive posts. Up or down 2 lbs or less. That is real life maintenance. And you can enjoy time with friends and not worry about your food choices.

I am just a little older than you and not crazy about the day to day fluctuations. Eating sensibly with minimal processed carbs including no sugar and lots of vegetables, fruit, protein and the basic LCHF program keeps me stable.

We are in for the WOL. It is manageable and satisfying. Thanks for posting.

    Day 6 Brunei NFD
Weigh in this week at 59.3 so feeling positive and so relieved to see the 50s after thinking I would never see the 60s again and then ending up right there. I knew the first weigh in after the initial one would be a result, it’s the ones in the coming weeks that I’ll be fighting for everyone ounce.
Going to eat healthily today and mindfully. Have a good one everyone!

    Day 5 – Perth, W.Aust – NFD – weigh in day – 70.2kg
    Day 4 – FD

So not as successful with the FDs this week as I normally am, definitely over 500cal on my FDs, but did manage to do control days 3 days in a row which resulted in a slight weight loss for the week. So overall happy with the loss, but a bit frustrated to find that when I’m tired, my resolve goes out the window. Will need to be aware of that for the future.

The other thing I noticed is how I feel in the work lunch room on my break. I recently started working in an office environment again and bring in my lunches, make sure I get a walk and also have a quick sit down and chat to get to know everyone. It would appear that this is a bit unusual. 1 – I eat home prepared healthy food (which I love), 2 – I go for a walk. What I’m noticing is that I am starting to feel guilty about my chosen habits. Will have to explore those thoughts a bit more I think.

MAY we all be strong, resilient, resourceful and aMAYzing.

Day 5 MN USA. Was a FD that regretfully turned into a NFD. I blame pizza!!!

Day 6 FD country West Australia 72.5 kgs
Day 5s FD became another NFD feast day.

Well!! We all know that the definition of insanity is doing the same old thing and expecting a different result! And that is me at the moment.
Weekly weigh in today – 72.5 kgs which means the princely drop of 0.1 kg ( yes! only 100 gms since 25th February!!!) having bounced up a down and all over the place since .
Initially I got angry and I thought well , what’s the point with all this effort for so little result. And that has been my contention – that for this to be a WOL and still doing it next month, next year, 10 years hence, I have to see results and find it doable and worthwhile.
Then I got disappointed – so much effort for so little result.
Then I almost became defeated and thought – what’s the point????
Then I became determined ( again!!) and decided to be brutally honest – ouch!!!
Because, really , who in their right mind on a supposed FD orders a steak burger and chips!!! I haven’t eaten hot chips for 6 months but yesterday I not only ordered a burger ( also not had for months )BUT then added the chips. On a FD !! Sitting across from my friend who I’ve finally convinced to do 5:2 WOL and SHE ordered the 250 calorie poached chicken and salad!!!!
So not only nowhere near 500 or even 800 calories BUT 136 calories over my TDEE. Not my best effort to be HONEST.
Apologies for shouting but really. I will now put my brain back in my head and be serious.
I hate standing at the edge of a platform and then jumping out into water. I really hate that feeling in the pit of my stomach when I’m airborne.
Thinking about my self-sabotaging efforts recently with the 5:2 I had a light bulb moment and realised that to improve my efforts with 5:2 I am standing on the edge of that platform and have to jump out into space and get that falling feeling for a while. I realised that I don’t like discipline. I do not like persevering with anything. I don’t like deprivation and I don’t like challenging myself.
Up until February I was very strict with 5:2 and the weight came off and it was fairly easy and I felt a bit self- satisfied. No problems doing this WOL forever.
THEN hit a plateau and just didn’t seem to ‘feel the love’. Appeared to be doing reasonable FDs and being mindful on NFDs and not losing weight. Sigh . Poor me etc etc. But there is always a reason for not losing weight if one does things properly.
Started logging on to MFP since Monday and whoa!! All those pesky calories that I had banished have been creeping in to my diet. They are sneaky little things and fly under the radar.
I have also been gradually eating more carbs ( getting colder here down under) and also sitting doing office work almost 8 – 10 hours daily with virtually no exercise. Should I really expect to lose weight given all those circumstances . Um??? that would be a NO!
Apologies for venting but how could I have been so blind. So baby steps for now. A bit of discipline ( gulp) for now and I plan to post my daily weight – only to keep me accountable not for any other reason.
Thank you for being such a lovely supportive bunch of people and allowing me to get this out of my system.
@saffy420. I too thought giant and tonic sounded interesting.
For all those wishing it would stop raining – please send it down south. We are desperate for rain in southern WA. 4th driest April on record . Can’t even begin to start planting the crops as it is so dry.
Happy days. I AM going to be aMAYzing.😝

Day 5, Pacific NW USA, Liquid only FD with the buddy group, 2.5 mile fast walk with 4 mile total for the day and 12 hours to go till breakfast, most of it sleeping.

It seems like old times to be on the receiving end of the determination that this forum offers. It really does make me feel stronger just knowing there are others out there reading and listening. At any given moment there may be ups as well as downs but the momentum is forward. Sort of like a group of migrating birds, schools of fish, sailors, race car drivers, runners, dolphins – one or more individuals goes out in front and creates the draft and those behind have a little less resistance and can rest a little and then when the leaders get tired they can drop back and others can take the lead and create the draft for others. Thanks Debster251, Coda, Krisnia and AT for sharing your momentum.

SCS – one time I put a pile of books on the scale up to the weight I had reduced then put them in a back pack and carried it around for a while just to congratulate myself and create a very real idea of what I had rid myself of – your body is much happier not carrying around those 19 lbs!

TripleT and umka6 – I hope the steroids do what they need to for you and you get past all that soon!

PashaW – I am humbled by your attitude and wonder if you are the reason your OH has been able to do as well as he has in spite of the original prognosis. Amazing!

Ciren2 – last but not least on my mind is my hope that whatever boot straps you have that they are sitting there ready for you when you want to pull yourself up with them and re-boot. Some say that phrasing is where the computing term came from, at least I feel like I needed a re-boot from joining back with this forum. It does take being in the mind to receive it and I bet you will find that time and place when you will want to give yourself a re-boot! You are a long time and dear cyber friend and will always be the original pocket buddy on my list!

    Day 6 UK NFD
    Have a great weekend everybody!

Hello from this temporary Galway girl day 6 nfd

Very pleased with how yesterday went didn’t eat apart for an apple on way down (usually car journeys mean a big bag of sweets so glad I got over that hurdle) had 1 glass of wine with dinner and soda water with lime rest of time, main course was pan fried cod with lots of veg and shared fries/chips with OH. portion size was small and initially i was disappointed but shared a pudding with OH and left satisfied. Woke up very early though just after 5 and couldn’t get back to sleep lol that will be me fading early tonight unless I get a little power nap. Looking forward to walking into Galway and looking round the market and doing some lengths in pool later. B2TF nice visualisation of how this thread supports everyone. I hope @ciren2 rests up and feels strong soon to join the others at the front. @pashaw now you are truly aMAYzing!

    DAY 6 – UK – FD

    Day 6 UK FD

Sorry not got time to read posts. Slept really well but really late. Busy day ahead. 189 lbs this morning.

    Day 6 Oman NFD/16:8

    Day 6: Northumberland, UK: FD/NFD?
Not sure what today will be after a big meal out yesterday evening. I think I was still well under TDEE but felt I had eaten too much. Possibly a higher calorie fast day. Well done everyone on your starts to the month and thank you for all the useful advice that fills these challenges. There is nothing brings home the weight loss like putting on a dress that used to be tight and being concerned it’s too loose.
Looking forward to buying a new wardrobe once I get to a size I want to maintain at….

    Day 6 | London | NFD

Broke my fast with a brioche bacon role from Pret.

    Good weekend all.

    Day 6 Newcastle UK NFD.
Yesterday’s fast went well feel like that made up for the blowout on Thursday. Will try and stay focused on these next 2 days and hopefully a loss on Mondays weigh day 😁.
Have a great weekend everyone, it’s going to be a grey weekend here in Newcastle hopefully the Toon can snatch the championship title away from Brighton on the last day of the football season this Sunday, that would help warm the place up a bit. ⚽ πŸ†

    Day 6, London UK, NFD
    Day 5 NFD
    Day 4 FD – 3rd day of B2B2B

I did fell light headed and dizzy at times, and had a headache a lot of the time. I will try to drink more water. I think I’ll try B2B FD Monday and Tuesday then NFD on Wednesday and then FD on Thursday – that should give me 5 evenings of not snacking, which is my main difficult time. I can be good all day but fall apart in the evening.

@back2thefuture I was inspired by you experiment with putting the equivalent weight loss in a backpack – I don’t think I could carry 4 stone around on my back all day.

I was also inspired with the idea that 5:2 diet is blame free, that you can easily make up for bad days with a FD. It is good not to feel bad about your temporary fall off the wagon, especially as my clothes continue to keep feeling looser.

    Day 6 UK NFD

Had a sneaky jump on the scales this morning… weight 66.2 kg down 1.3 kg from Monday ..that’s due I’m sure to 3 FD this week! Going away tonight for an overnight with “the girls” but planning on keeping on track.
Love reading all the posts and the support from this fantastic global group has kept me on track so far so many thanks to you all !
Will post after weekly weigh in on Monday.

    Day 6 UK NFD

As usual weekends will be NFDs , I admire those of you that can fast over the weekends, you’ve got more willpower than me. @stevetoontaxidriver wishing Newcastle good luck this weekend, they should be in the Premiership.
@okeydokey @lilymartin yes the giant and tonic was gin. It’s our Friday ritual to start the weekend. Since I’ve started logging calories on MFP the G&T is the first thing I put in for Friday and then work backwards! This is one of the reasons I think this WOL is sustainable for me – nothing is forbidden. Yesterday was quite carb heavy as well but still within TDEE. So I know the scales might not show a big loss today as I’ve interrupted the fat burning process but by Tuesday the loss will be there.

    Day 6 – Switzerland – NFD

Feels a bit odd just logging in to touch base, and not having time to read the posts, but I’ll have to make do with this at the moment. Last night’s rehearsal (and FD) went well – good luck to everyone fasting this weekend!

Day 6 – West Midlands, UK – NFD

@mia139 – I also had a sneaky jump on the scales, I have lost 5lbs since Monday, couldn’t believe it!!!! under 12st, which is a first this year. I plan to track my weight weekly though on a Monday, but couldn’t resist a weigh in, can’t wait to get back in some of my clothes, sick of wearing the same thing, I was not going to buy bigger sizes, no way, a slippery slope.

I have been eating sensibly, introducing more fruit and veg to make sure I have 5 a day and more water but Ive had a cake, bit of choc, few glasses of red last night. I write down all my calories to make sure I don’t go over TDEE, and I plan to do this at least for the first month. More exercise, plan is for another Step class tomorrow morning, haven’t been to the gym on a Sunday in years. Have a great weekend all x

    Day 6 Portugal NFD
    60.7kg

Loss of a few hundred grams this week bringing me 0.1kg lower than pre Easter weight. Pleased with that but I am tired of still being in the 60s – will work hard to get into the 59s this incoming week. I’ve tried to do exercise every week day and I’ll maybe get in a couple of short walks over weekend. ADF has worked well so tomorrow I hope to continue with a FD.
Bom fim de semana para todos!

    Day 6 NFD London UK

Well well and truly went over my TDEE! Night out with girls cocktails, wine and eating. But lots of dancing. Although I went over my TDEE I burnt over 2600 calories yesterday according to my Fitbit. I did 22000 something steps. That’s dancing for you! I will try to keep within the TDEE today but have a rugby fun and award day! Busy busy weekend but I can be sensible.
Planning on doing back to back FD Monday and Tuesday then FD Thursday. Is this a good idea?

    Have a good weekend all

    Day 5 : Cheshire, UK : NFD
    Day 6 : Cheshire, UK : NFD
    Day 7 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

Yesterday I did really well until I got home from work. Although I wasn’t hungry or having carb cravings, I just ate mindlessly. It really was just my mind encouraging me to eat.

My life is in a bit chaotic at the moment. I’m feeling overwhelmed at work and at home. I’m not on top of my housework and that throws me. I was away last weekend at a wedding in Northumberland and I’m away next weekend so today I’m going to spend time getting organised at home. I feel fatigued at times which I think is menopausal. At least I’m on top of the posts for this challenge :).

I’m hoping to fast on Monday and maybe Tuesday.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    xoxo
