    Day 7, Cumbria UK, nfd
We’re going away for the weekend, where internet connection could be poor, so I thought I’d be better jotting down what my intentions are now. Good luck everyone xx

Day 4 – West Midlands UK – NFD

Enjoyed my food today following my second FD this week. Had a small choc treat (usually would have eaten the whole packet), all within my BMR and TDEE. I felt really tired yesterday on my FD, but feeling good today

Day 5 FD country West Australia
Whoops!! Accidentally added an ‘e’ to the fast day yesterday so it became a feast day. What can I say?
It wasn’t too bad but definitely not under 500 calories.
So, today , although I am off for lunch with friends I plan to try to keep it under 500 calories otherwise will aim for 800 calories.
Have not read posts for 2 days so about to have a hot drink and indulge with some catching up. Will keep some for tonight when I will need the support.

Day 2, Pacific NW USA, NFD
Day 3, Pacific NW USA, NFD
Day 4, Pacific NW USA, NFD
Tomorrow will be a FD. Starting weight for this month is 166.2 and my goal is to reduce by 6.2 lbs in May.

    Day 5 second post.
Have just spent 1 3/4 hours catching up on all the posts ! Since sitting is a natural born killer I am probably killing myself whilst reading how we are all trying to live better!
@happymargo, it must be difficult not to have support from your OH. Mine is quite supportive but will still sometimes ask ‘ do you want …?” As I have said previously I usually reply ” Do I want it ? Yes!! Will I have it ? NO.’ I just find at my age it is too difficult to get rid of the excess weight I already have . Self – sabotage which most of us do from time to time can be quite demoralising.
@flourbaby, I too have difficulty wasting food etc. It used to mean that I would eat things that I knew weren’t good food choices. Now I am better at getting rid of food, if necessary, and our dogs and the compost heap are doing quite well out of it! Mind you with this WOL and eating less, I still have some Easter eggs in the pantry. This is the longest they have lasted – EVER.
@annnursekirk if you are not losing weight there is usually a reason. It is often the NFDs which catch people unawares and can undo the good of a FD.
Our daughter was a waitress and their glasses all had a small mark on the side to show what was a standard drink ( 125 mls). So many patrons used to have a go at the staff accusing them of being mean with their measures of wine. If you actually measure 125 mls it is seriously not a lot. Many many people sabotage diets ( and I know this as not a diet rather a WOL) by drinking far more than they realise. A lot of glasses at parties are usually 2 or 3 standard drinks per serve!
@ciren2 I sort of lost my mojo earlier this year but simply limped along with a less than ideal version of 5:2 , when I am honest, nevertheless I was daily mindful of the 5:2 WOL and tried to stick with the principles. I just was less committed I guess. But now in May I am back with a vengeance and looking forward to really trying it the best I can.
@bigviking, I find soda water and lime( slices of lime) or soda and 5- 10 mls of Buderim ginger ( an Aussie cordial) are refreshing and not overly calorific ( about 10 calories I think)
@schatziii, congratulations re your thesis, good news
@allsmiles re MFP. I have never counted calories before November 2016 and starting this WOL. I am back doing it for May as I found I just tended to be too out of whack with portion sizes and amounts actually consumed. It is SO easy to underestimate what we eat. I don’t like doing it and look forward to the time when I can confidently know amounts. But for the next little while, number crunching for me!
@simcoeluv and @bigbooty, so good to see you two still around. Always supportive and full of good advice. Actually took a detour whilst catching up this morning to re-read simcoeluv’s post re starting this WOL, TDEE etc. Very interesting and a good reminder.
@coda, seems like 1957 was a vintage year! There seem to be a few of us on this site with a ‘significant’ birthday looming this year. I am determined to reach the big six zero in better shape than at 59.
Whew!! Well I think that’s me done for a while.
It’s a FD and my stomach is starting to growl like a lion. Off to busy myself with a massive ‘ autumn clean’ of my very messy house.
    Good luck all🙃

    Day 5 – UAE – NFD (weight 82.6)
Lost 0.9 kg this week – YES 🤓

Day 4, Pacific NW USA, NFD , 2nd post

Like @lilymartin I just caught up by at least scanning all your inspiring posts since my first post this month.

I thought I didn’t have the time over the last few days to read and post so I just didn’t do anything. Now I might be realizing something else. I think it was actually some sort of depression that I was feeling that got in the way. I have been sleeping poorly, taking different medications every 4 hours and so needing to eat every 4 hours as well. But by reading everyone’s various points of view and mutual caring and positive energy this community has lifted my spirits. Thank you. The contrast in my mood is quite dramatic. I even feel contentment. So where did that come from? I guess I have a renewed feeling of “I can do it” (take care of myself).

AT – thanks for the personal message of support. I have always enjoyed yours and many others’ voices and it feels like I’ve returned home!

    Day 4 MN USA NFD

    Day 5 | Sydney Australia | NFD

thanks @debster251, happy with my exercise progress, hopefully I can say the same thing about my weight soon too! Good luck with camping and the wine police!

I need to stick to my TDEE this weekend, there are a few events and some alcohol is likely to be had… just need to keep it to a minimum

    Day 5 Brunei NFD
So yesterday FD went OK, although I didn’t count precisely I may have had about 550-600. Still happy with that. I was grumpy in the evening but hey-ho 🙂 today I broke my fast with my two ingredient banana pancakes and fr ah mango and then snacked on some nuts mid morning. Making homemade pizza for lunch and may have a beer (Friday is a weekend day for me). Tonight going out for sushi but will order wisely. Next fast day on Monday and looking forward to enjoying (but not overindulging in) my healthy food choices :))

    Day 5: Northumberland, UK: NFD
Another beautiful start here, blue sky and bird song, though still chilly, which is to be expected in Spring in Northumberland.
Well below my TDEE yesterday but scales still show a bit of bounce back. However, a month into this WOE I’m learning to not be phased by that, and look further back at my numbers for comparison.
I’m having to go back in time in my wardrobe to find clothes that may fit and being surprised at what I find that is now too big. Having lost so much weight since the start of Feb, it still doesn’t really register as I can still see more to go when I look in the mirror.
Going out for an Italian meal with the family tonight so going to try and keep the rest of the day light and not over-indulge.

Hello everyone day 5 UK co down nfd

We are heading off to Galway for the weekend so posting early.

@backtothefuture so glad this little global community has lifted your spirts and renewed your determination to carry on in your journey. I hope your health and sleep improves as you carry on along this road together.

Second fast completed this month hit the scales .4kg loss loving the 5:2

    Day 5 UK NFD
Reading the posts made me smile this am.

    Day 5 UK FD

May is continuing to give! After 2x FD and 2x NFD, I’ve lost 2.9lb / 1.3kg. Starting wearing the Fitbit has certainly made it easier to track (and increase) my activity. And the dogs thank me for it.

    Thanks for the tip @lilymartin

    Day 5 | London | FD

Good morning everyone and Friday, it’s nice to see you.

Reflecting on my first week I am learning a lot about myself. The FD was ok and the following day too was fine, I was surprised I didn’t overeat. My big downfall was last night. I go to my mums for dinner and stay the night with her every Thursday. She’s 83 and amazeballs:) but she is a feeder. I ate all the food last night, probably 2000 calories worth. I kid you not, following dinner (steak) I had ice cream, buns (3) and crisps (skips and quavers). Felt the need to name and shame myself and show some honesty, cause let’s face it – at 5ft and over 140 lbs it had to get there somehow 🙂

So on with a FD today and a lesson learned from last night.

Thank you for the tips on travelling. I am setting out to be mindful this weekend, yet still enjoy some Italian food.

Good luck today and if you’re weekend has already started whoop whoop, enjoy it !!

    Hi everyone.
    Day 5. Nfd. UK.

    Glad it’s weekend soon!

    Day 5 Newcastle UK FD.
Wasn’t going to fast today but the large curry & rice + homemade rice pudding really over did it last night 😪.
Try and get some focus on my portion sizes on NFD. Felt bloated after the last spoonful was pushed in and a poor nights sleep too. That’s going to be my blip this month hopefully.
Another blue sky day in Newcastle. Have a great day everyone.

    2nd post.
I made a mistake in my earlier post. I weigh now 81.6 not 82.6 and thus I lost 0.9 kg this month.

    Day 5 – Switzerland – FD

Sorry I forgot to post yesterday – it went fine except for a bit of mindless finishing-up of food which was then difficult to quantify for MFP. I’ve gone back to weighing and logging as this seems to be the only way to keep myself accountable at the moment.

Really exciting evening yesterday as we had the first full rehearsal of choir, plus orchestra and soloists. Another big rehearsal tonight then performances in two different churches on Saturday and Sunday. Can’t wait to hear it in the various acoustics. Starting to get nervous, which is probably a good thing…

Good luck to everyone fasting today!

    Day 5 – Cumbria UK – FD

A much needed FD after yesterday evening……..all I can is OH DEAR………😈

@steve-toon-taxi-driver – I feel your pain – my eating yesterday evening went fully out of control for the first time in ages – not sure why but felt physically awful like you – I’m out for a walk with friends this morning to get me started for a good FD I hope….

I’ll have a good read of the posts this afternoon when I return from my walk

    DAY 5 – UK – NFD

@coda – Going to N.I. during half-term at end of month….so not there yet…but will let you know how I get on when the time comes.

    Day 5 Belfast FD
I’ve just lost my post so here we go again.
Yesterday was a 16:8 – a scone for lunch and crab claws and seafood chowder for tea in a nice restaurant.I was a good girl (ish) with 2 glasses of wine.
@lilymartin throwing away food is a bug bear of mine. Hence the scone at lunch which OH bought for me and I couldn’t throw away. When the kids left home we were cooking too much food for a long time.
@coda have a lovely time in Galway. It’s such a vibrant city and it looks like you’ve got the weather too!
@mrsgettingthere and @ Jarbia have a great weekend too.
@back2thefuture sending you Internet hugs. Xo look after yourself.
@Imrenfrey never mind what the scales say. Your clothes are the barometer of your success. As I posted a couple of months ago, I have a friend who, for the last 30 years, has managed her weight with a pair of trousers. Once a month she tries them on. If they’re tight she cuts back. She doesn’t know what she weighs and doesn’t care! I wish I’d followed her example!! You should be proud of your loss.
Anyway, the sun is shining, the birdies are tweeting and it’s a good to be alive day! Off for a walk to get my vitamin D. Have a good day everyone!

    Day 5 Notts UK BSD

Fell off the wagon last night (evenings are always difficult for me) just couldn’t stop nibbling – nuts, fruit. Oh well, won’t dwell on it, onwards & downwards, today is another day etc etc…

    Day 5 UK NFD

188 lbs:)) ADF is working well, even with up to 800 calories on a fast day given low carb overall. My narrow eating window helps too. I am hoping to fit into size 32 trousers on the 9th when I will have been doing IF for six months. Internet still iffy just lost a longer post.

    Day 5, London, UK, NFD.

Well I didn’t manage to complete my FD yesterday (so just a B2B this week – all good!), fine until 7:30 when I got back home after yoga. I had already had 542cals and determined to relax and head to bed……………… but, I thought I would settle a slight headache with a piece of cheese and a few baby plum tomatoes. Unfortunately this led to an avalanche of eating and ended the day at 1150cals!! Hey-ho, such is life and the beauty of 5:2, no guilt or self-flagellation required just back on the wagon next time!!! I should have followed @slogan15 and just gone to bed!!! ( I laughed when I read that at 7pm………………… look who’s laughing now!!!!!)

@coda – Have a great time in Galway, I have all of JVs books too! I’m saving the 5:2 juice attempt for warmer weather!!!

@lilymartin, in this throwaway society, it’s a good habit not to throw away food, I just need to learn not to shove it in my mouth!! The freezer has become my friend and harbours lots of ½ finished croissants, cakes and bread. I had contemplated getting a greedy dog too!!!!! Way to go on the Easter eggs…………. I managed to clear the house of those temptations on Easter Sunday……………….. and no, not by eating them all!!!!

@steve toon taxi driver, it’s surprising how quickly our stomachs shrink, but our brain is a bit slower in catching up!!! Initially when I researched portion sizes, I ‘GUFFAWED’ in disbelief!!!! I’ve stopped using my usual dinner plate and tricking my mind with a side plate…………….. it doesn’t always work, after all…………………….I’m not stupid!!!

Have a great day everyone, whether FD, NFD or CD, we’ve got this, just keep the faith and drink some water!!!!!!!

@sirisan hope you feel better soon.xo
    @Strawberriesandcream happy birthday!
@ciren2 I can’t add anything that Coda and others haven’t already said so well. Keep posting and don’t lose heart. Xo
@jmh44- AnneMarilyn’so advice is spot on! I used that very same strategy with great success. Good luck and enjoy!

    Day 5 – UK – NFD

Fast day went well yesterday. Now the test begins as I hit the weekend.

Thank you for all your knowledge, I am getting lots of motivation from reading through the other threads on this site as well. I hope checking in here every day keeps me focused.

@coda – Have a lovely time in Galway, used to go to Salthill on holidays as a child, lovely part of the world.
@ciren2 – You did so well before, you know you can do this, you just need to get your head in the right place, we are all here for you.

    Day 5, Belfast, NFD

MY FD yesterday went ok, a bit light headed later on and got really hungry, but I survived. Did a bit of yoga and a tidy up in the house and sat down for dinner at 8pm. It’s BelfastSink’s mum’s birthday today, so family get together at mine. No doubt a beer or two and a glass of wine, but nothing like easter celebrations lol!

I haven’t been able to catch up on all the posts but the encouragement and support offered by all you lot is so nice 🙂 Good luck all FDers today!!

    Day 5 Maine FD

Good morning all – happy cinqo de mayo! Another dreary day in Maine – forecasting 2″ of rain tonight & dreary, cold for next 10 days! Not good for mood, but need to keep it in perspective…only damage is to psyche. Not looking forward to checking in the hundred some odd rooms today & tomorrow – will have very cranky guests. A couple of weddings scheduled out on our patios overlooking the ocean – feel bad for them. Oh well….

Great FD yesterday….challenging ….lots of crap food everywhere at work, but I resisted!! Lots of tea & a yummy veggie hash w/egg on top for dinner. Doing another FD today with a mug of chicken chili to celebrate cinqo de mayo for dinner. Used to celebrate w/pitchers of marguerita’s & loaded nachos & bloat for days! Not any more…well, not today!

Feeling renewed this month. April was a little topsy-turvy food/motivation wise, but feeling more determined this month. Happy to report that the 19 lb weight loss is helping my energy & have been able to take my “therapy” walk after standing at work all day. That is such a switch from the last couple of years when I’d come home, sit down & only move when it was time to go to bed!

Make it a great day everybody & super weekend! Remember discipline comes from doing. Baby steps lead to giant leaps.

    Day 5-US-FD

I started on a course of prednisone and have been seriously hungry the last few days! Hopefully back on track today as my fast days this week were a bust. So please change prior entries tp NFD please.

    Hi everyone!

    Day 5, Houston USA, NFD

Got an exam today so NFD for me.

Recap of Day 4 (3rd FD of the week):

    Breakfast:
    – Black Coffee (1 cup)

    Lunch:
    – Crisp Bread (2) w/ thin spread of cream cheese and sliced cucumbers
    – Black Coffee (1 cup)
    – Hard-boiled egg (1)

    Dinner:
    – Greek Yoghurt (1/2 of 100-gr cup) with drizzle of honey
    – Banana (1)

    Throughout the day:
    – Water (3 litres) with lemon juice from 2 lemons
    – Peppermint tea (4 cups)

    Yesterday FD went well.
Didn’t think about food too much as busy studying for exam (seriously – all Reservoir Engineers out there – respect! I don’t know how you can not only master the subject but also make a living out of it).

Just broke my fast now with Omelette (2 eggs), Plain Yoghurt (1 of 75-gr cup) and strong Black Coffee (1 cup).
To be honest I don’t feel that hungry but I want to eat something substantial before my exam at 9.

    Day 5– Colorado USA– NFD

Wow! This thread moves Fast!! I’ve got some catching up to do.

Yesterday’s FD wasn’t pristine, but I’m taking cue from the wise people here & not beating myself up. I’m actually giving a pat on my back for finally dialing back my pie hole & not hoovering up ALL the foods. Stayed in control. Felt good!

Today I’ll wait till 1:00 or 2:00 PM to eat, that’ll give me 20 hours of fasting right there. On a nicely controlled NFD.

I may even accidentally turn into a full FD because we’re de-winterizing & packing up our camper (I think some may call it an RV or caravan?), as soon as I finish work, for our first camping of the season!!
My new feet have healed enough I can finally re-join the doggy & OH on hikes! Woo-hoo!!

(I may be too far out in the woods camping this weekend to have cell service. If so, mark me NFDs & I’ll catch up with all your wonderful stories on Monday.)

    Day 5 – UK – NFD

Yesterday’s FD ended well at just over 500 cals although mid afternoon was a bit of a struggle for an hour or so.

Next FD will be Monday so weigh-in and waist measure-in for me will be Monday morning to discourage over-eating and drinking over the weekend.

Happy birthday to your mum @belfastsink!

    Day 1 – Scotland – NFD
    Day 2 – Scotland – NFD
    Day 3 – Scotland – NFD
    Day 4 – Scotland – FD
    Day 5 – Scotland – FD

Hello! I was supposed to join this challenge but the first days have been a disaster: proper binge days, rather than NFD. Anyway, I’m back now, and reading your post has been very hekpful. Good fast day yesterday, today I had already planned to meet a friend for lunch so it will be a controlled day/fd, under 800 cal. I hope to reach 58 child’s by the end of the months. I was 59.8 at the end of April, 60.3 today after my fast. This is so typical of me: one step forward, one step back…forever!

    Day 5 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Good day after FD yesterday, nice and controlled. Weight holding under goal and that’s always nice to see.

Busy few days here, so sorry if I am not keeping up with comments very well.

@scs – we’ve had sun in IL for a few days now, so hopefully this weather will move on and shoo away your gloom soon!

    Onward and downward!

    Day 5 Tas Australia NFD

Feel good after my fd’s this week, enjoyed eating more today but was really thinking about if I was actually hungry and what I ate. Hope I can keep that up on nfd’s as that is one of my biggest issues. Had a really good loss so far this challenge, which has really given me a boost as I tend to put on easily if not careful but it takes so long to get rid of it!
Love reading everyone’s posts but will have to get organised and read with a note pad as I can’t remember who said what and I’ve been reading when I have a few minutes here and there throughout the day so it’s all broken up.
Good luck to the pocketeers, just a smaller group today, but you can do it. All those on nfd’s we can do it too and be controlled.

Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Mountaintop PA, NFDs

Starting out the NFD weekend at my 149.2 low weight. All days CD but with a few extra treats. No processed carbs just a nice cocktail or wine with dinner and controlled portions.

Outdoor damp spring weather keeping skies gray with occasional showers and cool temperatures. Dedication to daily walks challenged during week, but no excuses on weekends.

DH and I on the IF Fast 5:2 together so each is a positive example for the other.

Took 14 favorite clothing items to the dressmaker yesterday including pants, dresses, a shirt and coat that were so loose I could not comfortably wear them. They are all favorites. Wearing smaller sizes is a fun reward for sticking to this WOL on top of the more beneficial long term health benefits.

Next FD on Monday Day 8. Two days a week is nice rhythm for us. Enjoy your weekends All.

    Day 5 Portugal FD

Another FD – feeling hungry right now but will try to hold off until dinner. Yesterday’s NFD very controlled. So far it has been a good week. I wonder will the scales refleçt that tomorrow.

@backtothefuture I went through a big med shift at the end of last year. It was very frustrating, I gained weight and my brain felt terrible. Now I am adjusted, by brain and body feel much better and I am losing the weight (thanks in large part to reading the very supportive posts in this group. I wish you all the best and just want to support you as you go through the shift.

Traveling to the west side of our state (WA) to see our daughter and a friend I haven’t seen in years who is in Seattle for a conference. I will do some combo of a FD and a NFD, if I’m able. Being away from home and traveling always makes things trickier, but I am learning to love the places when I travel and not just the food. We used to live in Boston and now live in a small town in eastern WA, so my hubby and I do value food we used to take for granted! So here’s to a happy but also controlled weekend!🙂

    Day 5 – USA – NFD

    Day 5. Wisconsin, USA. NFD

    Darn you, Wine!!!!

Would have been a better week without Chardonnay. Otherwise, not so bad. Good luck this weekend, friends!

    Day 5 Pacific Northwest FD

Out of town, boating yesterday, no scale … Prob a good thing.

    I’m following 4:3 FASTING Monday, Wednesday, Friday’s

    Onward & downward!

    Day 5 UK FD

Waited till now to post as not sure if this would be a FD or not but as now almost 4 pm and not eaten yet, decided to make it a FD! Third of the week. Very busy at work, just home and planning on chicken salad at less than 300 calories so all well !
Good luck to all the fasters today. !

Day 5 Ohio, US. 2nd FD this week. Will weigh in tomorrow morning and post my progress.

So far so good but out tonight. I know I will be drinking but have been careful all day

    Welcome everyone

    Day5 US FD

The weather is rainy and dreary here today. But we make our own sunshine🌈😂Doing my best. I walked 9,000 steps yesterday… more for me than usual. I’m hoping this Friday FD will help with the weightloss.😀

    ✨Wishing everyone a happy joyful Day ✨Today✨

@steve-toon-taxi-driver curried chicken and rice pudding, 2 of my favorite things these days. I’m trying not to get hungry.🤣
@coda Really good advice to @ciren2 things that would be helpful to most of us, I would think.
@ciren2 I hope you give at least 1 of the ideas that @coda mentioned a try. Also sometimes doing less… eating less is more. ✨We are here for you.✨
@and…exhale it sounds very exciting and fun! Wishing you well this weekend with your performances!✨
@fatrabbit Glad to hear ADF is still going well for you. I have lost posts in the past. So I’ve been typing them into my notes either on my phone or computer. Then I copy and paste them onto the forum. If I lose it I still have a copy to put into the post again. Also I had found a couple times I had forgot to push the word post after I had pushed the word done. So the text ended up in the wind. How are you and your son getting along? I hope things are going well.✨😊
@scs I think we are getting the same dreary rain here. The constant pitter patter of rain on our skylights in our family room is not as soothing the longer it continues. What you said made me smile. “Remember discipline comes from doing. Baby steps lead to giant leaps.”✨😊

Day 5 – SW WA USA – NFD

Yesterday turned into a liquid only FD. I usually do 500 to 800 but decided to keep busy & kept pushing the envelope. After school, appreciated a chiropractic/massage visit, then picked up a Dutch Bros coffee (iced decaf americano with SF Dark chocolate and a little cream) and headed over for a pedicure. When I go home I had a 5 cal cup of broth and called it an evening. Also lots of water all day. The scale went downward this morning.

@fatrabbit – good for you to make it to 188 today. I don’t know why it’s taking a bit to keep my body below 200lbs. In April I hit 197.2 twice with bounces all the way to 2004 after a 2 day NFD weekend. This morning the scale registered 198. Hopefully it’ll keep moving downward. Are you doing AFD all week even through the weekend? I’m trying to wrap my brain around it. Then the days you fast keep changing it seems.

@and…exhale – may your performances go well. Wish I could enjoy one with you.

@allie123 – all the best on your exam. I’m curious, are you a Brit living in the US? I’m curious because of some of your spellings & things you eat.

    @krisnia – enjoy Seattle!

    Together we are stronger!
