So day 4 pocket listers, how did you go?? Basking in PFDS I hope! An especial well done to @woosoo – you are building that proof to yourself that you can do this.

Thanks for adding the additions to the list @funshipfreddie.

OMAD sounds like a plan @northgeorgia if you can’t say no to all the other engagements you’ve got coming up. Busy times indeed!

@songbird me – I missed the exciting news of your impending move in date. It’s been a long time coming but I hope your new home is everything and more that you dreamed.

Tell us about your meal out, @at. I feel the need to live vicariously through your dining experience.

Oh @flourbaby, I hear you. Sounds like you’re on the seafood diet (see it and I must eat it!). What is it about Free Food, especially catered food at a work event like a conference?! I will introduce you to a new category: Food That I WILL Resist Because I Don’t Need it!

I’m so pleased your egg n bacon pie turned out @stitchincarol! I await your verdict of @merryapple‘s version (the cross Tasman competition is alive and well!)

Right, my dog walk is done – mercifully a little cooler this morning. Tho my boy has put his face into some ultra sticky plant so I’ll have to tackle him with a wet towel later. Off to do my core/strength routine!

    Day 5 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

What a pocket list yesterday? Double figures! 💪

@woosoo – well done! 🥳️ 👏 I hope the scales were kind to you this morning

@at – I’ve never actually met Orpa, so no idea how spritely she is. But I strongly suspect she’s one of the culprits who snoozed through our line-dancing ‘show’ in December 😅

Gotta dash. Hoping to get the ‘all clear’ from the Dr who treated me during my brief hospital stint last month.

    Day 5 – Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🚶‍♂️ 🌾

@at your weekend solo hike sounds just perfect 🤩
@woosoo bravo to you! 👏 Soup is king for me on FDs – no bread of course. So yesterday was pretty much a LFD with homemade vegetable bouillon until I had an apple with peanut butter around 19h30…
@flourbaby.. I think of you when I post about caring for mum as you have walked this same lovely path 💕💕 we are very lucky to be able to care for mum in our family home and also blessed that all of my siblings help as much as they can and we have fabulously selfless carers… but with many people in the mix comes many discussions about what is best for mum /us – this is what wears me down. It’s very interesting to see the different characteristics in the family come through after all these years. Anyway we will work it out 💕💕

A nearly LFD was had yesterday as I weighed after my post… up to 158 after the weekend so there is clear information there for me to work on… yes it’s ok to loosen the reins a little at the weekend but not so much that you undo literally all the good work and Bob back up by 3lbs… I’m going to try take inspiration from those of you who apply yourselves at the weekends also and hope that that will make a difference or at least keep the lovely gains I’m making to get back to maintenance more consistent.

Ok best dash now… have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

We rise by lifting others 💕

All the best today @funshipfreddie 🙏

    Day 5 NZ NFD

I’ve just read all the posts and will be back on deck tomorrow. Thank you so much for all your kind wishes.
I’ve been well supported here by friends who have kept me busy…
I had 16+ people and 3 dogs here for Macintosh’s wake which was awash with whisky and wine and food. I buried him the next morning in the ferns under the Kōwhai trees looking toward the Monkey Hill Steps.
It’s so quiet in the house now – no one is under my feet in the kitchen or waiting at the front door when I pick up my car keys. I’m going to wind the grandfather clock again. I haven’t for a year or so now because laterly when it chimed Mr Mac would wake in a panic not knowing what was happening.

Here’s the wee eulogy I wrote for him:
Macintosh the Westie lived through the glamorous years of the pre Covid art world where he had a career as a gallery food taster and commentator. He had his favourites – Starkwhite of course where his treats needed to be out-sourced because there was an overemphasis on wine; and the Gus Fisher Gallery at the University of Auckland, which had an exemplary record of hospitality, especially notable were the large jammy doughnuts procured from the best bakery in Auckland. He was more likely to engage with video art and floor sculptures and didn’t really see the point of paintings. Mr Mac would like it noted he never peed on Starkwhite’s interior columns – it was Fiona Pardington’s dogs. He traveled New Zealand, visiting many of the country’s art institutions, dealer galleries, alternative spaces and festivals. Along the way he gathered a following of art world heavy weights. He was made mascot for Christchurch’s 2008 Scape by legendary Turkish curator, Fulya Erdemci (may she RIP) and hung out with Belgium artist, Guillaume Bijl while he smoked fags in the Christchurch Art Gallery courtyard. The casual gallery visitor, likely from Hawkes Bay, thought he was an art installation as he lay quietly on the floor. He graced the society pages in Metro, The Herald and on TV One because of his impeccable grooming.
But please don’t be fooled by his debonair city demeanour. At heart he was a country boy, known as Macintosh the Brave for his unflagging determination and commitment to running rabbits ragged. He dispatched many a neighbourhood cat from his Monkey Hill property so the birds had somewhere safe to nest and feed. And for this reason I am going to lay him to rest here amongst the ferns overlooking Billy’s Monkey Hill steps.
I know once over the Rainbow Bridge you’ll sniff out your dad Billy Apple, your soulmate Lola the Westie, your bro Oscar the Westie, your bestie Scotties, Badger and Cocoa Bean as well as your great mates Kiri and Hebe, the Labradors.
Good night and sweet dreams my darling wee West Highlander, Macintosh of Monkey Hill.

    Day 5, London, UK, NFD

I’m feeling a little queasy this morning, so it’ll have to be a NFD!

@woosoo, glad to hear you’re weeing out the fat!!! It’s a reminder for me to drink more water, I was doing so well last week, then fell off the water-wagon over the weekend. Back to my 3L/day ……………………. It leaves no room for food!!🤣🤣

    @penz, it was a See-food and See-wine weekend unfortunately!!😬😬

@funshipfreddie, good luck today🙏🏼, you’ll get that ‘all clear’. I’m sure the last few years of fasting and general self-care have resulted in a stronger system for fighting AND recovering from illnesses for you💪🏼. I think fasting has helped me to swerve the usual ailments being passed around the office!!!😷😷

@jaifaim, I’m sure it’ll all come good for the decision making🙏🏼. As long as everyone keeps ‘mum’ at the top of the list and park their ego’s it’ll be grand!!! You’ve got the right idea, it was my top priority, keeping mum in her own home, and any sacrifices I made were a drop in the ocean. there really wasn’t anywhere better for her!! 💕💕

@meryapple, what a beautiful send off!💕🙏🏼💕 I have no doubt that he’s having a whale of a time with his dad and his four legged friends. I’m glad you’ve had so much love and support at this difficult time.

I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday!!! I’m NOT wishing my life away, but I NEED it to be Friday ASAP!!!🤣🤣

Back to work, happy fasting fasters!!

    Day 5-No VA USA-FD 800

Did well on fast Sunday, when I didn’t go above 600, and yesterday had a FD (800)also. Weight unchanged but not going up. I am alcohol free until this weekend when we have an 80th birthday party for my husband at a steakhouse we have not visited for many years. But I plan on only one drink. Looking at the menu ahead of time will also help. Restricting my beloved carbs is a challenge, as is that late day eating! But I have a goal of fitting into some nice summer clothes that haven’t been comfortable for the past two years!

@funshipfreddie, sending positive thoughts that Mr. Pancreas has got his act together for you. The timing of your illness really makes me wonder if it was Covid that tipped you over…
@merryapple, such a lovely send-off for your wonderful friend!

    Day 5 UK f800

I agree @flourbaby @jaifaim it really doesn’t seem fair all that hard work for lb or 2 then whoosh all back on and then some after a weekend , ahh well back to it 💪

What a lovely send off for Macintosh @merryapple

    Day 5 – USA/GA – ZBC/OMAD

Weigh-in: 224 lbs. Trending 2 lbs heavier this week over last. Must’ve done some real damage last week. Skipping breakfast this morning, and unless I get pressured into lunch, I plan to hold off until the evening meal. I think if I can OMAD a bit this week, I may not see results on the scales right away, but I should see a positive effect in conjunction with the FDs over a couple of weeks.

    Day 5 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD – 164.2

I did well on Saturday, but also indulged in a See-Food diet on Sunday, so Monday was 20-4 TRE (not quite OMAD, however). Today will help send me back down. I keep trying to sort out what makes me chuck it in every evening, and part of the answer is that I don’t even THINK about wanting to be thinner. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The secret to success is to keep trying, though, right? (I hate that use of trying, but am not sure how this is supposed to be worded. Perhaps that’s the answer, that I’m still trying rather than simply doing. Hmmm. Food for thought.)

@merryapple I’d begun to worry about you, so it was good to hear from you, and to hear how lovely the send-off was for Mr. Mac and how wonderfully supportive your friends have been. I’ve never considered myself a pet person, but we had a dog for our daughter, and when Charlie suddenly died from an illness at age 7, I sobbed…and am still hit by sorrow occasionally, and this is six years later! So, I understand your heartbreak, know it is real sorrow, and also that it has to be immeasureably worse than my own was. ❤️

It’s another busy day, and on top of everything, the last email I got was 11:01 on Sunday morning–and I normally get over a hundred a day (many of them junk, but many of them important). I was on the phone with my email people yesterday for an hour, and have to try again today since so much of my volunteer stuff is done via email. GAH! So I’m going to scoot.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 5 NFD UK

So 1lb off for me today totalling 3lb so far – happy with that.

    @calicocat the wees worked 😄
@penz and @funshipfreddie I’m well and truly focused now
@flourbaby I’m really not brilliant st drinking water – well done you for managing 3L
@jaifaim totally agree – soup is king for me too

Exercise a bit lacking- need to get back down with the horses methinks.

I’ve added myself to the March spreadsheet – hope that’s OK?

Lastly could someone explain to me about the pocket lists please?

    Have a great day/evening everyone 😀

@woosoo Here you go on the pocket lists:
    Extracted from @penz’s intro

Pocket lists –A ‘pocket list’ is a list of the names of people who are sharing the same goal on a particular day. It’s great psychological support in mentally keeping that list in our back pocket (it started as a literal list tucked in a pocket), knowing we’re not alone. Anyone can join a pocket list or start a pocket list. Typical pocket lists are for FD but in the past they’ve been used for people doing daily exercise or planks, or DTF (dry till Friday).

@merryapple so great to see you and what a beautiful eulogy 🐶 ♥️🐶. I went down my own rabbit hole here looking up monkey steps etc… sending love and hugs.

    Day 6 NZ NFD 75.4kg

Once again thank you everyone for your kind messages.
@penz Whether I like it or not my focus is on me so I’m glad I’m part of this community!! I still have enough extra weight around my hips and midriff to keep me here for sometime!! Then @FunshipFreddies no nonsense approach to maintenance will be the ticket!!

I can relax a little today. It’s windy and cloudy with squalls coming through. I’ll do my walk shortly perfectly timed to avoid the showers!!
A friend from my Californian days has flown in this morning. We’ll begin the catch up later on today after she’s had a few hours sleep. We worked together in Oakland. It’s taken over thirty years for anyone to visit and now three of my RN colleagues have arrived in the last six months!!

I’ve found a good physio for targeted exercises on YouTube that some of you may be interested in:
HT Physio – Over-Fifties Specialist Physio
I’m avoiding a gym membership or going to Pilates until I get seen by the shoulder specialist. It’s easy to find core strength and lower back exercises but I want to maintain good shoulder posture and this chap has exs I can do chez nous without a whole lot of gear or damaging myself!

    Onward and downward!!

    Day 6, FD, Aus

It must be a bit dusty in here, sniff. Read your beautiful eulogy, @merryapple. What a full life your Mr Mac led! I’m glad you wound your grandfather clock; its sonorous tick/tock will help the house not feel so empty.

@stitchincarol, sit yourself down and listen up. There is no try!! Go back over your old posts and remind yourself of your mantras, your RESOLVE, your determination and strength, and your commitment to you. Do this!

@woosoo – of course it’s ok to add yourself to the spreadsheet!

    Clean bill of health @funshipfreddie?

80! Wow, happy birthday to your DH @ecelsior12309. How many people are going to the party?

    Day 6 – Ireland – FD 🚫 ✅ 🚶‍♂️ 🌾

    Good morning all.
@funshipfreddie I hope the news was good yesterday…🙏 we are all thinking of you 💕

@merryapple how lovely for you to have dear old friends around at the moment…💕💕 I’m having a few niggles with my back at the moment so have been following an online course I do when I have a few twinges anywhere…

@flourbaby you are so right and we will work it out 💕 my absolute priority is that mum is safe and content at home. I know that homes can work really well for some and particularly earlier in the disease but my dad did everything to keep her at home so we will too.💕 🙏💕

@excelsior12309 wow an 80th birthday for your DH this weekend🎈how fabulous!

@brightonbelle and @flourbaby my little pledge this weekend is to keep it clean… and not undo the good work I’m doing this week… I can feel it…. I have two nights out but it wouldn’t be those that derail me but the silly weekend daytime choices… coffee and treat /crisps. 💪💪

@penz… you’re right there is no try 😂😂 did you hear that @stitchincarol 😂😂 We Can Do This.. I hope you sorted your tech issues… they are so annoying and take up so much time!

Hi @ccco and @northgeorgia and @woosoo (are you hopping on the pocket list?)
And hi to everyone else who is here but not posting… I’m off to fill the spreadsheet as forgot that…

    Day 6 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@jaifaim – Good news from the Dr yesterday – I’m going to live! This week anyway🤞 @excelsior12309 – he said he still can’t say with certainty Covid led to my pancreatitis, although they pretty much eliminated any other causes through all the testing, scans, x-rays, ultra-sound etc.

@merryapple – I was also concerned about you, so it was good to hear from you again. And what a lovely send-off you gave Mr Mac 🤗

@stitchincarol – I think it’s all comes down to how we think. Just being aware of our thoughts, knowing we don’t have to act on them, taking charge of them when we start to self-sabotage; that can make all the difference. A pity I didn’t tell myself that when I had my mini salted peanut fest last night 😅

    Day 6 UK f800

Busy week , getting ready for a trip to Rome on Sunday – where I will not be fasting so I’m aiming to be very good up to the weekend , I’ll then have a week off and get back on it for the remainder of March and as long as I can register a loss for the month I’ll be happy

Glad to hear you’re ok @funshipfreddie

    Day 6-No. VA USA-NFD

I have so far successfully stayed under 900 calories for past two days. Trying to faithfully track things on MyFitnessPal; it helps me keep focused. Weight is down about two pounds, but really I am looking for a change in, shall we say, body contours….

Good news, @funshipfreddie! @brightonbelle, I hope you will be able to have a delicious pizza when in Rome. And perhaps a gelato. Not too naughty, and worth the trip!

Our birthday dinner for my husband’s 80th will be small, 9 people in total. Lately he has become a patron of two extra cats that have been eating our cat’s food on the porch. One is the raggedy orange one with no tail and a bad eye, (but now the eye is better). The other is a very sleek grey and white tiger cat, that looks quite chubby. Those two hand out together. The orange one has become rather friendly. Sometimes at night, I see the two sitting at our back door staring inside…Our dogs hate that….

    Day 6 – USA/GA – ZBC/OMAD/?

Weigh-in: 226 lbs. Same as last week — did my OMAD yesterday, and plan to do the same today, although I might make today a FD500 with my OMAD. Hoping I can keep up the OMAD on most NFDs for a couple of weeks or so; I think it may be the key to regaining control.

    Day 6 – NFD UK

    Afternoon all
Does anyone weigh in everyday? I’ve seen conflicting arguments for/against.

@merryapple so sorry for your loss – I love a Westie

@jaifaim despite the perfect explanation you sent, I’m ashamed to say I have no idea how/where to add my name to a pocket list 🤔 Help gratefully accepted

FD tomorrow and I have to go for a mammogram which is enough to banish all thoughts of eating for me, I hate them 🙃

Need to get some form of regular exercise back in place. I will have to get back down to the horses in the meantime, that’s the best kind of workout for me.

    Happy Wednesday 😊

    Day 6, London, Uk, FD

@penz, bloomin’ dusty in London too!!! 🤧🤧

Too true @jaifaim, safe & content is exactly what she needs. You’ll do your very best to keep her that way and to paraphrase ……………… it’ll be *#~<~* hard, but hard is NOT impossible!!!……….. and in 20 years the additional time & effort you all spend caring for her will seem like nothing. The 2 years I spent living with my mum at the end were really hard going, but oh so very precious.💕🙏🏼🥰

@funshipfreddie, great to hear you’ll make the weekend at least!😁😁I bought the individual (extortionately priced!) snack packs of salted peanuts to prevent myself refilling the ramekin (which was another attempt at portion control!); however, limiting myself to just one snack pack is just as difficult as not refilling the ramekin, or having just one more handful!!! ………………. Who knew??!!🤣😉😕

@woosoo, as you see below, I’ve copied the Pocket list which @brightonbelle added to a few posts earlier, and simply added myself to the bottom, the list will grow as others add their names, so today I’m in good company as I have @penz, @jaifaim and @brightonbelle sharing in some FD positivity & strength ……………………… how could I possibly struggle today??

    Happy 🐫day all

    Day 6 – Rural Nebraska, USA – not sure day – 161.8

I weigh the same this morning as I did after last Tuesday’s WFD–a good sign, because as often as not, I’m up a few ounces. I’ve been sitting with my cup of coffee for a half hour, just FEELING. What I’ve discovered is that I’m quite empty, and rather than feeling pressure to do something about that, I’m enjoying the feeling. Reminds me of the quote we’ve had occasionally that “hunger is not an emergency.”

Here’s the situation that makes me undecided. We won tickets over the weekend for a performance tomorrow night to a Broadway touring production of The Lion King. I suppose I could still do a WF, but because of the timing of DH’s and my days, it makes zero sense to do so–this is supposed to be an adaptable WOL, right? But I hate to give up that lovely weight on Friday morning. So I’m thinking we should go out for raw oysters on the half shell, because they’re super low in calories, but that still will be food, not water.

So, can I pull off a B2B WF today? Do I have it in me? I’ve done it once before. And especially after that article that says a WF of 72 hours is needed to show any particularly solid results, it seems like a good time to try it. It still wouldn’t be 72 hours if we eat dinner out on Thursday, but it would be close.

And yet we have church supper tonight, and for me not to eat will garner lots and lots of attention (remember, I’m the wife of the pastor and the organist and the church secretary–I can’t simply blend into the woodwork, or simply not show up, because people would look for me to chatter with them or to answer a question). Can I make up some story so I don’t get lots of unwanted attention?

And so goes my stream of consciousness, LOL! Okay, I’ve come to a decision: I will not eat until 4:30, and then I’ll decide if I’m going to push through. That’s a huge challenge to the self-indulgent me who hasn’t been losing weight, and enough of a pledge for today; I may or may not power through to tommorrow with a WF today, but I’ll certainly go until 4:30.

And, yes, most of the rest of you could have said that in three lines and kept all your thoughts to yourself, but you’re used to my verbosity, right??

    😁👍🤣

@woosoo It’s so delightful to have you as a new member of our group; you’ve leapt in feet-first and it’s fun to have your chatter added to the group! Congratulations on the third pound down; that feels excellent, I’m sure! Do tell, however, about your name, LOL–I’m finding no explanation in my own imagination! As to the pocket list, just highlight the pocket list that’s already existing, copy and paste it in your post, then add your own name. And I weigh every day, sometimes multiple times a day, and have done so for most of my life. It has taught me not to panic when the scale is up. For example, if I weigh myself, then go drink a HUGE glass of water, my weight on the scale will be up, and yet I clearly haven’t gained weight from the water. I too have read conflicting reports, and I am certain there is no one correct answer, but the answer is truly tied to who you are, how you think, and how you feel about weighing yourself. Does that help any?

@merryapple How lovely that you have another California nursing friend visiting; enjoy your time!

@penz Yeah, I knew I was not likely to escape with saying I keep trying. But that’s the problem, right? I’m TRYING, not DOING. Oh, how smug I was in the fall of 2022 when others were so struggling with mojo and I was simply making steady progress. Where in the world did that discipline go??? Maybe what I could have said was, I’m still here and haven’t simply given up. That’s okay, right? 🤣👍😘 Thanks for calling me out!

@jaifaim I hope you resolve the “little niggles” in your back quickly!

@funshipfreddie, Aww, what a lovely woman Orpa is! Her happy heart shines in her face and it was a delight to see her! And 105?? Wow. Just wow. And I too am so glad you got a positive report from the doctor. As to thoughts, yup. I truly believe I’m on the cusp of a breakthrough, even though there’s not yet any solid evidence that I’m gaining ground, and I’ve been sitting on that cusp for awhile now. Time will tell. And today’s continued WF until 4:30 at the very least will help.🤣

@brightonbelle Have a grand time in Rome! DH and I were there for about 75 hours in late June 2019 and had a grand time! What will you be doing?

@excelsior12309 Well, well done on two FDs under 900; that’s huge!

@flourbaby DH and I went to see his mom on Monday, and the pure joy on her face was something to see as we walked in! She knew who we were, and said several truly perceptive things. Then she asked where her parents were; did we know, because she was wondering when they were going to pick her up. Then she was talking to my husband, Mark, and said “I haven’t seen Mark and Carol in a long time.” Then she was confused. We could see she was trying to sort out what was confusing her, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. So sad. And then she was entirely fine for a few minutes. It’s just astounding how wildly the memory can fluctuate when someone is suffering whatever she has.

Okay, I’ve typed as if I have all the time in the world, haven’t I? Time to get at it.

    @stitchincarol I don’t suppose it’s in your in box?🤞

    Day 7, NFD, Aus

Dogs walked and bathroom cleaning ahead of me – urgh!

Great progress and motivation on the forum at the moment; keep it up.

Love the giraffe, @stitchincarol (and well done for conquering imgur).

V glad to hear you’ll live another day @funshipfreddie!

@woosoo – do what’s right for you. If that’s weighing every day, then go for it. You’ll soon learn your own bodily pattern and natural ups and downs (that are really not indicative of long term weight loss). I don’t like the scales; in one sense I really don’t care how much I weigh (it’s just a figure) but I DO care how I look and feel about my body, and how well my clothes fit. Like @excelsior12309, I’m more concerned about a return of contours and feeling my hip bones!

Yup, @merryapple, here it is, fresh from my email:

    Day 7 Auckland FD 75.2kg

I’m taking my Californian friend on the ferry across the harbour today so will have to keep going to get my walk in as well. I woke up at 9am, 1 1/2 hrs later than the Westie timetable. I’m going to have to nip this habit in the bud…
It’s a FD for me. Like you @stitchincarol, I need to work out how to handle this because FDs are not hospitable! I might have to do another on Saturday as a replacement and today make seriously good food choices ie not fish and chips and icecream which did me in last weekend. Lovely giraffe!
@funshipfreddie 👏The words “We can’t find a cause…” are so important. I say blame Covid and be done with it!
@excelsior12309 Have a gorgeous birthday party. It’s such a great milestone when fit and well,
@woosoo A belated welcome! I started at 93kg last January and aimed for a kg/month loss. I didn’t start exercising until the last 6 weeks or so when my joints weren’t creaking under my weight!! @stitchincarol’s focus on Fit February was a big help to get a routine going. It’s my second attempt at 5:2 – first time around was in 2018. I didn’t reach maintenance but this time I will and will also need to stay connected because maintenance is as important as being a loser!!! Good to see you using the sheet too!
@jaifaim Are those back niggles the result of long bike rides. On-the-road stop&stretch exs might possibly help???
@brightonbelle Rome sounds so exotic from this distance. Being able to see all that art history in the flesh would be amazing. I love Carivaggio’s paintings…
@at Michelin 🌟 Wow. Great for this WoL because the more you pay, the less is on the plate🤣
@flourbaby You’re so right about caring for your mother. Mine lived in another city and Covid lockdowns kicked in making it impossible to see how she was getting on. My younger brother lived there so did as best he could…
@penz Am I right thinking your egg and bacon pie is more quiche than pie??? No top, short crust pastry… Bacon and egg pies here are such a staple for picnics. I hope your dogs are making you power walk!!

    Day 7 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

@excelsior12309 – how does your cat feel about two impostors stealing his/her food?! Boo Boo would NOT tolerate that 😾

@woosoo – I only weigh myself after FDs. I tell myself that’s my ‘real’ weight. I don’t see the point in weighing every day, & I find the fluctuations a bit discouraging.

@flourbaby – I love the giant/extra-large salted peanuts. Not sure why, maybe because it’s easier to see the oil & salt glistening on them 😅 But they only seem to be available in 500 g bags or larger. I bought a bag a few days ago – for the coming weekend, of course. And they’re gone already 🐷 Will I ever learn? Most of the time I only buy raw, unsalted mixed nuts. But as far as taste goes, unless you’re ravenously hungry you may as well snack on cardboard.

@stitchincarol – Orpa does look radiantly happy. And the complex manager was telling me yesterday that, apart from a sleeping pill, she’s on NO medication! Love the red giraffe, & well done for figuring out Imgur! 👏

@stitchincarol 😂😂 your verbosity rocks 😂😂 I do love that we are such a mix of styles here… and it’s true that even the most communicative posters have days where they just can’t chat… life right!

@funshipfreddie Orpa is gorgeous (what a smile) and incredible that she is on no medication at all! I wonder what her secret is although I think one of those is the idea of retirement complexes which we do not have here… oh and sun maybe ☀️ but what else I wonder. 🤔
Yes like @stitchincarol I’d say Covid was the trigger for your pancreatitis… shur you may as well believe that as opppsed to it coming right out of the blue and coincidentally soon after Covid.. 🤔
I love your weigh in day logic… I might just adopt that..⭐️

@woosoo I jump on the scales most days and still can’t see a pattern but I record my weight only one day a week… on a Friday.. before the weekend 😂 but I’m going to adopt @funshipfreddie’s method from today 👍👍 there is no right or wrong… whatever works for you! 💪

@merryapple how great that @stitchincarol was able to salvage your post ⭐️. my back has been twinging a little since Christmas but I think it may be general wear and tear and very little stretching/mobility exercises .. Funny, I find the bike teases out any niggles I have so another reason to keep getting out.. I haven’t been on the bike as much I’d like these past two weeks but will get back out this weekend. @stitchincarol mum still lights up when we walk through the door and it’s hard to put into words how that feels – we never know “where” she will be (childhood home, first home with dad etc) but the conversations when she is able to talk are always very interesting 😂 … to date she mostly knows us all even the grandchildren so we are blessed but physically now she has entered a new phase.
I’m so sorry Covid meant that you couldn’t see your mum @merryapple but so wonderful that your brother was able to be with her… 💕💕 and all we can do is the best that we can ⭐️
@penz you’re the driving force for the motivation this month ⭐️⭐️

@excelsior12309 I’m tracking too on MFP and hoping I can identify a trend… another week with two nearly LFDs done and a good weekend planned so maybe I can see how my body reacts…

Have a fabulous time in Rome @brightonbelle! You are doing so well, one weekend away won’t change that 🇮🇹

Another controlled eating day under the belt, so to speak. (Wow, I would like to be able to wear a belt and have it look good, not “Like a featherbed tied in the middle” , as a friend of my mother’s used to say about women with matronly figures! )
@woosoo, I weigh every day just so I can see trends and not trick myself into thinking my eating habits don’t affect my weight. I have done that many times in the past. It IS annoying to see the fluctuations, though.
@funshipfreddie, our “regular” cat, which is named “Bagel Bites”, (no explanation, my daughter named it), a smallish black cat with a “tuxedo” pattern of white, is rather passive, and waits patiently for the greedy visitors to eat and then eats. Maybe she likes the company, I don’t know. Our dogs do not chase her, because she does not run away. Sometimes she and the dogs all sit on the porch together, like yesterday, when it was raining, just staring out at the yard. I can’t figure out the rather raggedy orange cat and the grey and white tiger cat relationship. One looks quite well cared for and the other like a hobo.

    Day 7 – USA/GA – OMAD

Weigh-in: 223 lbs. I was able to turn yesterday into a FD500, resulting in my lowest weight in March 2024 so far. My plan is to have a “regular” Friday and Saturday, then resume a WFD on Sunday. Of course, this month is full of surprises and interruptions, so that’s why I’m strategizing with OMADs on NFDs whenever possible. Today is the first day that I suspect I might see some decent results.

starting off Sunday: 229 lbs (ewww) — WFD
Monday: 225 lbs (typical after WFD) — FD500
Tuesday: 224 lbs (typical for FD500 after WFD) — OMAD (but overdid it on carbs in PM)
    Wednesday: 226 lbs — FD500
    Today: 223 lbs — OMAD

I suspect the weight will be up a bit tomorrow since I’m eating in the evening, but it shouldn’t be so carb heavy. I think this should at least back me further away from 230 by Sunday.

    Day 7 – UK – FD
@flourbaby Ty for pocket list explanation- light bulb moment!

@stitchincarol Ty too for explaining about pocket list. As for my name – I’m Sue so it’s simply my DH’s silly name for me “woo” + my own name misspelled – wish I could claim it’s something more creative 😄

@penz, @funshipfreddie, @jaifaim thanks for input re weigh days. Think I’m a bit over obsessive as I’m new to this WOL, recording after FDs sounds like a good idea.

@merryapple totally agree about maintenance but don’t think I’ve ever got there on previous weight loss efforts. Not this time though! 💪

Very straightforward FD yesterday ………………… I appear to be getting the hang of this!!!🤣🤣

@stitchincarol, love your lengthy musings ………. I can actually see the wheels turning!! Those lucid moments we have with dementia sufferers are baffling & beautiful in equal measures.💕💕 Loving that giraffe, I must get to grips with imgur so you can all see the menace that rules my home!!😺😺

@merryapple, I might have to adopt a Michelin starred, tiny portion habit to help stay on track ……………….. perhaps when I get to my goal weight🤔!!

@funshipfreddie, I love raw unsalted cashew nuts, of course given the choice I would inhale a bag of the honey roasted variety in the blink of an eye!!🤣🤣 I’m not sure why nuts are so moreish, it’s not like they’re coated in chocolate, like those M&Ms I find impossible to ignore, so never ever, ever buy!!!

Must dash, I’ve a lingering work deadline hanging over me, I just CANNOT get it completed!!!😡

    Keep the faith folks!!!

“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” – Audre Lorde

    Day 7 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WF until 3-ish? – 158.4

Talk about PFDS! I couldn’t quite believe I was pulling it off, but I just kept waiting to eat for another half hour, and suddenly it was worship time, and then choir time, and then I was home and I wasn’t about to give up then. The funny thing is, I wasn’t even hungry at that point. Empty? Absolutely. But it was more the habit of eating I was missing than the actual food/filling my belly. This morning, I felt stellar when I got up, but as I made coffee, I realized I no longer felt stellar. A big glass of water seemed like a good answer, so I drank it and feel a bit better. I’m being very aware of how I feel since there’s a big difference between not eating for one day, and not eating for 60 hours and counting, and I want to be in good shape for The Lion King tonight. I’ll break my fast with some nuts, and then we’ll go to the oyster bar about two hours after that, so I’m hoping that’s a reasonable way to start back on food. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oh, and I’m an exact pound lower than last week’s lowest-in-a-long-time weight, so I’ll enjoy it for today, since tomorrow will be up again.

@funshipfreddie Intriguing articles; I’ll read them when I’m done posting…because, yes, I would go to bed at 7:30! 😂😂😂😂

@jaifaim Your mum is so blessed to have you and your siblings. I love the deep love that shines through all your words.

@excelsior12309 What a funny saying! “Like a featherbed tied in the middle”!!! And quite apt in some cases!

@northgeorgia You are doing stellar-ly this week; that’s an awful lot of fasting you’ve pulled off in four days and counting!

@woosoo Oh, that’s a LOVELY explanation on your name, Miss Sue!

@flourbaby I love your sum up of dementia thoughts as baffling and beautiful at the same time…yup.

Thanks for all the comments on my red giraffe. If I can get one giraffe a week, then I’ll have time after Easter to sew the rest, get the thing quilted, and then finished by the time we head to Indianapolis on the 11th. Of course, there’s also taxes to do, organ music to select and practice, choir music to work on, and the choir-provided meal to serve next Wednesday…I am SO GLAD this is our last Lent before retiring, because it’s simply too much.

And as to conquering Imgur, I was NOT going to mention how confusing and challenging it was, but all your praise that I did makes me wonder if you’ve all tried it? The giraffe would NOT post, despite multiple efforts, so I gave up. And then, rather on accident, I found it. Well, I found it four times. So I may not post many photos, LOL!

I have a headache going…I suspect it’s from a lack of food. Not sure what’s the best solution. But whatever I do or do not accomplish food-wise today, I’m proud of doing a second WFD in a row!

@stitchincarol – well done for the b2b WF 💪 Imgur gets easier, if you use the same laptop & the picture is already in one of your files. It took me a while to get used to it though. Open the Imgur page, click on the green ‘new post’ rectangle (top left corner) & then click on ‘choose photo/video’. Click on the photo you want to post, & then copy/paste the new link that will be created. Voila!

@excelsior12309 – your cat sounds adorable. Maybe she’s so passive because she’s used to the dogs being around. Boo Boo’s always been an ‘only child’ & is very territorial.

Not sure if I’ll post over the weekend. Friends are arriving today for a couple of days, & Boo Boo is currently residing at Carol’s cattery 😿 My BFF’s hubby turns 60 tomorrow 🎂🥳️

    Day 8 UK NFD

Good FD yesterday, stayed under 800 but no change on the scale today so it’s -4 lbs.

Today we are shopping for my almost 90 yr old Mother in law. Will make some lunch for us all and then spend the afternoon with her, doing a jigsaw or just chatting and doing any housework she needs done.

Tomorrow have daughter and 2 grandkids here for lunch / afternoon so will do lunch for them too.

I’m in control of all the food so not worried about going off track.

@funshipfreddie I’d never heard of imgur, going to take a look and see what it’s all about.

Have a lovely weekend everyone 😀

@stitchincarol, I’m always in awe of how busy you are, but what are you going to do with your time when you both retire? You’re definitely going to need a plan!!!🤔🤔

@ccco, I hope you didn’t throw in the towel and today you’re basking in some well-deserved PFDS!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼

@funshipfreddie, I envy your 12k steps, I’m too busy at work to get out for a lunchtime stroll and too exhausted after fighting the rush 2-hour traffic to go out after work. As the weather improves, it’ll be light enough to walk later in the evenings ……… and warmer too!!🥶

I need to be mindful this weekend as Sunday is Mother’s Day and would also have been my beautiful 🥰mum’s 85th birthday😢. We’ll be celebrating the good times as well as recent birthdays …………. Mine, my niece’s, my Great nephew’s, my SIL’s and of course my mum’s.💕🎂🍷🥰🥳

    155.4lbs

I’m smiling here… as I look at my number above…
So close to my goal range and honestly if this was where I wanted to maintain I’m sure I wouldn’t be bobbing around that 155lbs… that’s life!
So – a little more effort required for that little extra shift into 152-155lbs but I can do that. Challenge 1 not to let the weekend derail me.
    Out tonight and tomorrow. 💪💪

@flourbaby I’m thinking of you this weekend and hope you enjoy the celebrations of the good times with your family 💕We must absolutely celebrate the good times even though they are tinged with the loss of our dear ones. 💕

Speaking of which, like many of you, I have family here so must keep it short but will check in later or tomorrow.

We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 8 – USA/GA – ZBC

Weigh-in: 226 lbs. Well, I should expect some temporary morning weight gain if on the preceding NFD I do OMAD in the evening. I’ll try this experiment over the next couple of weeks on NFDs when I can. Doing a chili lunch on Monday with my staff, so probably Sunday will be a WFD, then I’ll try another FD or two Tuesday – Thursday, with the other days being OMAD. We’ll see where it goes!

    Day 8 UK NFD

Yes I’m happy too this morning @jaifaim 💪

So entering the danger zone aka the weekend – aiming to make sensible choice

Congratulations all you Imgur enthusiasts, I’ll just stick to looking at your pics 😀

    Have a good one all

    Day 8 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD/OMAD? – 159.2

Before I went to bed, I weighed 160.2 and had just drunk an entire liter+ of water, so I was expecting (with astonishment!) to weigh the same this morning as I did yesterday morning, despite eating yesterday. With evidence you can figure out, I’ve realized I’m retaining water, so that’s why only a one-pound drop. But. That’s two days in a row down in the 150s, so I’m thrilled regardless of 159 v. 158. AND, in addition to our oysters, we had soft-shell crab last night, something I’ve always wanted to try and had never had a chance to (and it was glorious!), and then The Lion King was wonderful, so it was a rather perfect day.

Tonight, we’re staying home and I’m making a roast (whole) chicken and pasta dish along with roast carrots. I’m thinking it’ll be OMAD, but if I get too hungry earlier, then I’ll have an egg or two for lunch.

@funshipfreddie When I was signing up for Imgur, I was pretty much forced to install the app, so that may have been part of the problem, having it in two places. I’ll deal with it again when I get the second giraffe sewn, and see if it’s any easier… Have fun with your friends visiting!

@woosoo Well done on being down 4lbs; have a great weekend with all your plans!

@flourbaby Oh, how lovely Bo-Bo is! Thanks for sharing! And time? I’ll finally have some to get back in my sewing room, LOL! If we were retired, I’d already have the quilt assembled, be half way through my tax work, have kept the house tidy, begun pulling music for the Ascension hymn fest….Yeah. We’re TIRED and ready for a slower pace, LOL!

@jaifaim Good looking number, even if it is a few ounces/pounds higher than you want…

Funny story about my email that I wasn’t getting: I called tech support, was transferred to a higher tech support, who had to send it up to the highest tech support, who had to send it to the engineers! Don’t know what the issue was, but I’m finally getting emails again–and @merryapple I had only JUST begun getting emails when you asked about your post, and it had come in about three minutes earlier, so I found the timing quite humorous that I could find your post! Anyway, whew!

I have one of my church women’s group meetings tomorrow and have to leave the house around

Well. PHOOEY. I realized I didn’t know, so put my laptop aside for a moment to go check. That was over seven hours ago…and I still didn’t manage to look it up! 😂😂😂 Some days are just easily distractable, right? Okay, I have to leave around 7:30 in the morning, and it’s a long day, so I doubt I’ll post, and then who knows about Sunday, as we may be going to see Dune II with DS27 (anyone seen that?).

Have a grand one, everyone, whatever “one” is for you: day, night, afternoon… 😘😁

    Day 9, NFD, Aus

What happened to my post yesterday?!? I KNOW I posted it!

I feel like I’m being a very bad host, not commenting on everyone’s posts (but @stitchincarol does an excellent job of that – thank you!) I’m a bit flat out at the moment and it’s hot so I’m feeling very sluggish.

Thanks for sharing pics of Bo-Bo, @flourbaby. I hope you haven’t spent huge amounts of money on specialist cat beds when a cardboard box looks like a perfect fit!

    Day 9 Auckland FD 75.5kg

My routine has gone out the window along with any good habits over the last couple of days so I have added in an extra FD. I had a big ice cream in a cone from the best place in town, lunch and dinner out, wine etc but all delicious and fun.
I walked through a posse of young fit women next to the harbour and one looked me straight in the eye, almost like a challenge, and I realised when she had gone past that it was Pink!!!
There is another concert tonight so I’ll be home and will hear it because the wind is blowing in the right direction!
@penz Tragic to miss out on your pearls of wisdom… We’ve hit Autumn temps here 21 C with a cool southerly.
@stitchincarol Well done cracking the 150s
@jaifaim It’s a great start to the year for you – so nearly in the maintenance zone and feeling good!
@flourbaby What a lovely cuddly puddy tat. Mr Mac had a favourite banana box when he was a pup.
@brightonbelle Caravaggio understood the effect of the work’s location on the viewer and adjusted the perspective accordingly. It would be such a treat to see the works in situ.
@excelsior12309 Congrats on your control! Your mother’s phrase is so descriptive! Are you going to give the two vagrant cats a home? Will your pack learn to accept them?
@woosoo Gosh I didn’t know paint by numbers still existed. That’s fantastic! I always wanted to to do one!
@funshipfreddie I think it’s funny that going to bed early means you lose weight by avoiding evening snacks. Is this a diet or a timetable?
The day is nearly over here. I can hear Pink blasting out songs at Eden Park. It’s time to remove Mr Mac’s dying bouquets of flowers from the house. I have a friend coming for dinner tomorrow which will help alleviate the quietness..

Have to dash off to meet DS29 for Korean lunch followed by watching rugby in a pub , early night then off to Rome in the morning so I’ll be missing for a week or so

I won’t be fasting but aiming for some sensible choices was delighted to see I’m back in the 140s this morning I know it may be a fleeting visit but my new goal is to end March well and truly camped in the 140 Have a great weekend all See ya soon 👋

    Day 9-No. VA USA-NFD

Well, I have made it through a week with controlled eating and have registered a two pound weight loss. Three FD 800. Not too hard, I planned the meals ahead of time and stuck to the plan for the most part. No alcohol and no bread (moderation is not easy for me when bread is involved–avoidance works better for me). So yay.
Tonight is my husband’s birthday dinner with family at the “chop house”; I think I will stick with lobster. Luxurious enough for me! Trying to enjoy, yet also avoid the “featherbed tied in the middle” look.

@merryapple, regarding the two vagrant cats, they come and go as they please. My husband has become fascinated with the tailless one. He also went to local “big box” pet food store yesterday for animal supplies, and they had cat adoptions as they occasionally do. Several very pretty animals available, including two from Kuwait (???). I don’t know why we have to import homeless cats, we surely have plenty right here in the US….He wants a house cat, but he has a large cage of several dozen finches, and I can imagine the chaos which would ensue letting a cat in the house. So we are at a standoff about that.
@flourbaby, your BoBo is beautiful! As is the infamous Boo Boo of South Africa!

    Resolve to all the fasters!

    Day 9 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 226 lbs. Interesting — the same as yesterday, not the usual weekend gain. Tomorrow will be a WFD if all goes to plan. Will need to crockpot the chili overnight for Monday’s meal, but I shouldn’t be tempted until I start making it that evening. Today, I’ll plan to make violet jelly.

No big weight changes over last week, but I am two pounds lighter over last Saturday, so I think I should see some positive things this coming week.
