Day 9, London, UK, NFD
Well my B2B2B this week went sooooo much better than it did in February, ok, there were a few cashews, raisins and baby plum tomatoes, but that’s ok unlike biscuits I’m able to stop after a tiny handful. This weeks’ success is solely down to having ZERO trigger foods (including wine!!) in the house…………… lesson learnt…… again!!!! I’m looking forward to breaking my fast this evening with a chicken fajita salad, but I’m not super hungry this morning, so I’m still on for an 18:6 at least.
Welcome @jemima Puddleduck, joining us at ANY time is going to help you on this journey!!! Use the resources tab to calculate your goal weight TDEE, stick to that or just below on NFDs (Non fast days) and stick to 500cals on FDs…………………… the simplicity of this WOL makes it doable!!! Have a look at @simcoeluv’s very helpful post too ………………
https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
and enjoy!!!
Off to Pilates, so I must run!!! Stay strong everyone!!!
Day 9 – UK – Reading – NFD
Lovely messages from everyone – enjoy your special meal @daffodil. I’m out tonight and will try and behave.
Day 9 UK CD
My fat suit hasn’t shifted at all yet this month but I’ve lost a lb – gotta count something!
Looking at the month so far FD have been towards the upper limit and NFD mostly well within my TDEE. I guess the slow progess is down to my weekend away and illness restricting activity levels. Always helpful to understand what might be going on, to keep me motivated and on the waggon. I did the tape measure trick this morning – holding the tape out to where I’d been at the start is a great reminder of where I’ve come from, esp when i can’t feel progress.
Strange day for a Friday as I’m out from first thing tomorrow and have had a couple of sick days this week. Aiming for a balance of rest & recovery, catching up with emails and planning ahead for project work, and practical preparation for a full weekend.
Next week has some serious deadlines and events & will need max focus and energy. I’ve got behind with being ill this week and it would be really easy to get down about the load. I’m going to try to set myself up to do the best I can. So much more is possible with a quiet mind and a rested body, so proper self-care is key.
“Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.”
Day 9, Hampshire UK – FD
First of all a big thanks to:-
Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate it. I’m pleased but still in disbelief!
Yes – I rewarded myself with Nutella and red wine!!!
Unfortunately rewards very much in the category of edible/drinkable and certainly calorific. But luckily I didn’t go mad with either, so hopefully no harm done!
@diverdog – Many congratulations on your five-dayer. That is monumental!
FD for me today as I fear that my holidays will undo all this luck I have had recently!
Day 9….Florida……FD
Well, the dentist for my YS went well…..we will be headed back again in two weeks, as he will have to head back in two weeks. Which means, I’ll get another Trader Joe’s shop in!!!
Welcome @jemima….. so glad you could join us….. The hardest step is always the first…….
@diverdog……I have to agree that it really does matter what types of foods your are consuming while trying to lose weight. Food has such an impact on our well being and we must be aware of what it does as it get digested. If we take a look at just white bread, bread breaks down in our system it produces sugar(glucose), sugar that can not be broken down is convert into fat and stored in our cells. This type of fat I’m convinced we carry around our middle and our thighs.
So, I believe if you look at the break down of foods, you can determine which foods have the least damaging results as it breaks down.
So, during my trip to Trader Joe’s, I picked up a small bottle of sparkling water to try. I must say, it by far was not the most successful adventure I’ve embarked on. I’m not sure if it the carbonation or the after taste but it is not good. So, does anyone know what I can add to this stuff to make it bearable to drink?
Okay, well…. it’s that time! Ugg!
When someone yells stop, I don’t know if it’s in the name of Love, it’s hammer time or I should collaborate and listen!
I try to avoid foods that have the most negative impacts.
Day 9, NFD, US
I had a good FD yesterday, having only my morning coffee and a small miso soup. The office had a chocolate cake but I hid away from it, so that I couldn’t see or smell it, otherwise I would have succombed! I thought of you @flourbaby!
Well done DiverDog. Quite an achievement!!!
Despite my EFS weekend, the scales showed a very small loss this morning. Yay!
Avagoodweeken’ everyone!
Day 9 Stevensville Maryland USA NFD
I didn’t put Control if front of my NFD, it is my wedding anniversary and tonight we will be having a wonderful dinner including champagne. I am feeling very blessed today.
Stepped on the scale and was sad to see only 1/2lbs loss. after a 300 calorie FD yesterday, but according to my measurements I have lost another inch on my waist.
I might be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday. Have a great day/night everyone.
Day 9 – USA – FD
@diverdog, well done! Noticed for the first time in over a year that I ate below TDEE on a NFD without intending to. Just wasn’t hungry because what I ate was healthy and filling. I think that’s the key for many, including myself. Learning to substitute the carbs for healthier options, including healthy fats and not overdoing it on the protein can be satiating, and yet you lose weight. Don’t want to jinx myself, but I took a peek at Cruella this a.m. and I showed 159.8 for the first time in about 13 years…with a FD today, I should be below my end of month goal and about 10 lbs. away from maintenance, woo hoo!
Day 9 – USA – FD
@diana123, happy anniversary!
Thank You for valuable input @penz and @at, My TDEE with light activity is 1779 Calories so i eat close to 1500 calories and the only reason is its hard to measure all the ingredients i put into my food while cooking as i mostly eat home cooked food and i agree with you both i’m planning to reduce my carbs a bit more and increase my protein. As i dont eat meat & eggs three days a week for religious reason it gets hard to get protein and i’m sensitive to tofu but im looking into other alternatives. I feel my body is lighter but the scales are not moving much, i will take my measurements again today. Thank You both
@stephensonsteph It is never too late to join a monthly challenge.
Just put in day of the month, where you are, and whether you have a Fasting Day (FD), Non Fasting Day (NFD), etc. And then anything else you want to say, ask about and so on.
Oh, and welcome!
Day 9, Cornwall UK, NFD
OK – you seasoned fasters out there – you knew this would happen…
I gained a little weight last week and was mad with myself and with your encouragement I kept going (grumpily). And I’ve had a 1.2kg downward whoosh at my Friday weekly weigh today. Down to 82.9kg. Total down 23kg and something like 12-18kgs to go (keep changing my mind about my final target weight, which I never thought I’d get to when I started, but maybe I will now…).
Thanks to you all out there @at, @strawberriesandcream (yes, I like roobos tea too), @ccco (keep up with the yoga!), @merryapple and @Myrbcd (fasting sisters!), @missybear (another rooibos drinker), @bert1802 (my clothes are getting really baggy!), @debster251 (still doing my plank challenge and try to avoid crisps), @shinything, @molij, @snowflake56, @flourbaby (I need some patience like you), and @catch87 and @metatauta (well down on weight loss). Sorry if I missed anyone as I really appreciate your comments.
@daffodil2010 – I too changed careers from something very stressful to horticulture and appreciate the difference in stress levels. Your weight loss this week has been amazing! Regarding inflammation – have you ever had a C-reactive protein test? This could give you a marker for inflammation and then you could see if your dietary changes are having an impact?
@michelinme – lovely to hear about your godfather in Cornwall. I see you are a yoga-fan like me. If you find yourself in Cornwall one day, and your wrist has repaired, come and find our yoga class. https://www.facebook.com/rechargetherapycornwall/ We tend to break for the holidays, but our yoga teacher Sophie sometimes does Masterclasses then – they are a lovely 2-hour indulgence.
Day 9 NFD Oregon USA
Well as of 8:30 pm last night I had a 500-600 calorie day going. And then… I had another unexplained and unexpected gallbladder attack.😞😞 So painful…worse than the first. I frantically was googling while writhing with my heating pad and watched a YouTube video from Dr.Eric Berg which included an accupressure technique that actually helped. It lasted just over an hour and I then ate about 300 calories worth of Saltines and 7up. 😒
I will be working on a cleanse again and pretty sure it happened due to my extremely poor choices on Wednesday.
Seeing your story @daffodil2010 and your health challenges @michelinme, @leggit‘s IBS and others…well I just need to “buck up buttercup” and do what needs to be done to be healthy.
It’s ironic that it happened so out of the blue last night as I had unexpectedly been able to achieve a good FD and no beer! Was feeling a smidge more positive just before the pain struck. I hope it’s the wake up call I need.
@diverdog–congrats on that amazing accomplishment!!💪💪
@cornwalljane-nice job on your whoosh.
Thanks to @at for your kind thoughts and @flourbaby (your mojo really seems back in place) which is a great reassurance to me… hopefully mine isn’t far behind.
Have a great weekend everyone.
And remember…
“Old ways won’t open new doors”.
ccco USA Day 9 FD
My FD is going splendidly. Because of my giving in to that Skinny Pop popcorn, I was a little up and down this week but this morning I am down 1 lb. I am happy with that and even happier I ran out of Skinny Pop. Now not to give in when at the grocery store! Working self control! Speaking of that, I hired a chef for the month. Now I won’t eat anything but what he cooks. Now we’ll see where that goes! No cheating! I did my personal training and spent my time on the rowing machine, so I am good to go today with exercise. Couldn’t power walk today! Too cold!:( I now love when my fat cell weep or scream. It’s become a reminder that this diet is working. I stave off the hunger pangs looking at new fashions (I will buy once I lose) and spas (which would be such a pampering dream!!
Jemina: It’s not all about eating fewer and fewer calories per se when you get older (I am a senior citizen)! It’s also about the quality of the food you eat (think eat clean), as well as portion size and exercise at every age! Also, what genetics tells you, too! In my case, I swear if I even look at a carb I gain!! LOLI wasn’t like that when I was young. I experiment and readjust over time. Good luck
Daffodil: Good luck to you and your DH on dieting together and Happy Anniversary! 🙂
Diana: Have a wonderful evening and Happy Anniversary!
Metatauta: Congratulations!
Cornish-jane: I am a big fan of planks! I do them 5 days a week with my personal trainer. They are so much better than sit ups! Over time they do get easier!
Have a great day everyone and stay strong! 🙂
Day 9 North Canton OH NFD
@metatauta congrats on the loss! So happy for you especially because I remember your struggles last month. Way to go and way to put a spring in your step 🙂
have a great weekend everyone!!
Day 9 Las Vegas NV NFD
I broke my 5 day water fast at 8:00 AM with pannekoek (crepes, the OH is Indonesian and speaks Dutch) filled with avocado, bacon, goat cheese, sun dried tomato, arugula and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic. I ate them very slowly and savored the wonderful flavors and textures! Followed by a small slice of Bika Ambon, my favorite Indonesian tapioca cake!
I want to thank simcoluv and penguin for their support and encouragement.
For the scale watchers I lost 10.6 lbs, 1 1/4″ off my waist, 1/2′ off each thigh. 1/2″ off my butt.
Was it a true water fast? No, I allowed myself several cups of black coffee daily and on day 4-5 I ate broccoli sprouts with a little olive oil ~65 calories.
I also took a holiday for taking any vitamins or other supplements.
How was the experience? Not very hard actually. I felt ok the entire time with a minor headache on day two. I slept well but got up earlier than usual. Tended to a bit of cramping but salt water helped with that. Energy and focus where good. I had no issues with normal activities like walking the dog, dancing and riding the bike for 30 minutes.
Lessons learned? For me fasting is more of a mental than physical challenge. Desiring the taste and routine of eating food of is a powerful siren call but physically my body is fine. From a fat burning view (measured by blood ketones) days 1-2 are marginal day 3 is strong and 4-5 is smoking!
Although the purpose of this fast was 99% health improvement the fat loss was great too. I will be repeating it in 12 weeks.
Lo’s of great posts everyone. There are so many to read. I see many of you are doing well. Those of you that are struggling, forget yesterday commit to today and plan for tomorrow
Day 9 – SW WA USA – CD
Not the best FD yesterday, so going for a CD at least today. Ended last night with several cups of 35 calories a cup popcorn after my night class. It showed up on the scale this morning. Only coffee and water so far today, but it’s only 10 AM.
@diana123 – Happy Anniversary!
@metatauta – congrats on your new low!
@mjrbcd44 – I’ve watched some Eric Berg videos but not on accupuncture. So glad the techniques helped with your pain. I’ve been through those. I initially called them my Barcelona pains because that’s where we were as I first got them. About 7 months later and many “attacks”, I did have surgery. Whatever route you choose, I hope you get relief.
Together we are stronger folks!
Day 9 – USA – NFD
Just realized I’ve been dry since Sunday, woo hoo, and although I started out today with a planned FD, I remembered that I can have some beer tonight, woo hoo! So I will forego my FD in celebration this week! I really want to continue to maintain Sun-Thurs. dry, which has been an unsuccessful part of my monthly goals until now, so I may switch up my normal Friday FD to another day.
Day 10 Gold Coast CD
I had a bit of a blow out yesterday, or that’s how it felt. Went a bit mad after getting to a new low, lower than I have been for over 20 years. Still long way to go, but very excited. But I added all the cals up, and I was only just over 1200, so I’m not going to beat myself up as that is just about TDEE. And back on strict tract today.
I’m finding I need to make some mental adjustments. I have thought of myself as a fat person for so long, I need to start changing that to think about myself different. It is an interesting reflection, both on how I thought of myself previously and what that meant, and also how that is changing.
Wishing everyone a great Saturday.
Day 9, UK, NFD
Yesterday was a good FD and I’m pleased to report that this 🐢 is making a progress! yay 😀 I stepped on scales today and I found myself to be a bit lighter, not much, maybe 300-500g but still, its nice to see it 😀
@cornish-jane congratz on your whoosh! I’m really happy for you 😀
@mjrbcd44 I’m sorry to hear you had another gallbladder attack, and specially to hit when you were doing well 🙁 . But don’t let it dishearten you, the beauty of this WOL is that you can adjust your fasting as needed 🙂 . I really hope you sort out your gallbladder problem as that’s the most important thing.
@ccco glad to hear you are doing well and you have reinforcement in the form of a chef 😀 , keep strong!
Have a lovely weekend everyone ❤
Shinything: thanks for the support! I hope this chef will keep me from cheating. I turned my FD into a NFD in order to eat up some of the vegetables I have in the refrigerator. Apparently, the ones I will need for my first two weeks are not the ones I have already. Tomorrow will have to be a NFD, too, in order to eat more of those fresh veggies. I don’t like throwing out good food. Luckily, in the Winter most of my veggies are frozen, so they will keep awhile. Also, I will not be eating any fruit for the first two weeks but my fresh fruit will hold. I think I am not supposed to eat anything with glucose/sugar in it, so the fruit and many veggies will be excluded during that period. The idea is the force my body to burn fat, not glucose. After two weeks, I will gradually reintroduce certain foods over time. I’ve not done anything like this before, so I will keep everyone apprised. Have a great weekend, everyone, and stay strong!
Day 10, London, UK, NFD
I’s a big weekend for me, my mums’ Birthday today and Mothers’ day tomorrow …………………….. there will be cake ……………………… twice!!!! I’ve managed to up my water consumption, I think the double digit temperature (finally) has helped as well as the ginger tea!!
@penz, way to go on the chocolate cake swerve!!!!
@diana123, Happy Anniversary, enjoy those bubbles!!!!
@metatauta, congrats on the ATL (All Time Low), it’s so rewarding to achieve something you thought was out of reach, and to do it relatively painlessly …………………….WIN-WIN!!!
@diverdog, I’m really in awe of people like you and @dykask who do lengthy liquid fasts …………………….maybe one day for me, never say never!!!!
@mjrbcd44, call it a successful FD as you were derailed by illness rather than self-sabotage!!! Feel better soon, sending you healing vibes!!!
@at, I’ve ditched the booze, only drinking on special occasions or when out for a meal, rather than nursing an entire bottle of shiraz to myself in front of the telly …………….. with the obligatory snacks!!! So far this month, I’ve found it so much easier to get back on track and make the right choices, the booze really slows the weight loss ……………… I didn’t believe it but it’s true, my most successful months challenges have been the DRY ones, I tried to find other reasons but I have to say (weeping into my ginger tea) the booze stops weight loss dead, plays with my mind and emotions and it has GO!!! It’ll just be an acquaintance rather than my BFF!!!!
Off to buy 2 cakes for my mum, what are my chances of a sugar free, flourless, low carb, ZERO calorie but tasty celebration cake?????? Yep, that’s what I thought!!!!!!
Onward & Downward people!!!!!
Day 10……Florida…….FD…….I hope!
Welcome @j3mm9…….so glad you could hop a board. This board is nice international board, people from all over the world who like you are really inspired by Dr. Mosley. A CD or controlled day, is a day where you take stock in what your eating, stay within your allowance and do over indulge in something you crave.
It’s to darn early this morning but once again I must adult and head off to work. I don’t mind working Sat., it’s short day but I just wish I could have my days off consecutive rather than spread out. Oh such is life.
Since I do have to work, my 16:8, will switch to 19:5, I wish, I was as brave as @diverdog and @dyskask and I could do a liguid fast. Good news is, I have a beautiful Greek salad waiting for me that I bought at a Trader Joe’s when I get home.
I’m really considering a letter to Trader Joe’s to request a store in my area. I really do believe that it would do well up in my neck of the woods. Maybe a heart felt plea will encourage them!
Okay….. well it’s that time again……you know the one where I get washed up and dressed then pretend I like being an adult.
When someone yells stop, I don’t know if it’s in the name of Love, it’s hammer time or I should collaborate and listen!
Day 10 UK NFD
@j3mm9 -welcome to our group. @at is this month’s leader so she’ll be along later to give you the “proper” welcome. If you go to the first post of the challenge you’ll see how we set out our posts.
Good news is you’ve found the most supportive group of people you could ever wish for. We’re a truly international bunch who’s aim is to get us all to the end of the month, hopefully lighter in weight and better in our general health.
A controlled day is when we don’t actually fast but we keep to lower calories so for me a controlled day might be 100-1200 cals per day.
Yesterday was a CD for me, would have been a FD if I hadn’t drunk half a bottle of red. Bad day in work culminated with a call to the police late in the day regarding one of our customers who was in crisis. When I got on the scales yesterday, cruella was in a kind mood and showed a 2 lb loss on the week. Like quite a few of us – the groove appears to be coming back. Today and tomorrow I aim to eat up to TDEE, as it’s Mother’s Day a family get together is on the cards. @flourbaby – there won’t be cake but there will be trifle -mum’s favourite.
@diverdog, nothing to say but wow and I’m in awe of the dedication to a 5 day water fast. The most I’ve done is a b2b and that was usually unplanned.
@ccco, you’re really getting into the science of it all now, hope the experiment with the chef goes well.
Off out later to look for a dress for the wedding we’re going to in May, plus wallpaper shopping, possibly the most boring thing in the world.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Day 10 – UK – NFD
Having a good month so far – scales are encouraging as are the jeans!
We go back to Fuertaventura next weekend for two weeks – fingers crossed I don’t catch a dreadful cold on the plane this time so I can swim more and be generally more active. To help with the motivation I have entered a 10k on the 15th of April! I have done a few 10ks in the past but not for a couple of years now. I have a dream of being able to complete one in under 60 minutes in my 60th year…. I’ll keep you posted as I am way off that sort of time (and distance) just now!
I was inspired by an article in the paper this morning about Roger Bannister cracking the 4 Minute Mile, which had been thought humanly impossible, then once he had done it there were many others ‘hot on his heels’…. the writer reflected that so many things are a mental challenge and once athletes knew it was possible it became achievable for them…. maybe this is why this group is so successful! We read of so many wonderful successes and the road to our success becomes clearer.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Day 10 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD
I have received delivery of three climbing roses and a little plum tree for the patio so had to go to the garden centre to top up supplies of fertiliser etc before planting. I was in a looooong queue, next in line for the till, when another till was about to be opened. The man behind me started for that till so I called him on it and told him I was next. He was hugely affronted, told me of course he was not skipping the queue, of course I was next, “off you go now, as you are next” says he demeaningly when the till opened 😡 And his wife smirked on.
Anyway, I was upset after that and bought myself a chocolate bar, and have just eaten it now 😨
Oh well. Maybe I should get out and do some gardening to calm down. Chocolate is not the answer. And he WAS trying to skip the queue so I am glad I called him on it 😡
@shinything I have ordered kefir and yoghurt starter packs from that Bulgarian yoghurt site you recommended way back in Feb so soon I will be experimenting with home made kefir ☺️
Day 10 USA (Illinois) NFD
Very good CD yesterday right about 810 calories. Maintenance still needs vigilance!
@toddybear — most interesting analogy to Roger Bannister and our support group. I wonder if many groups where individuals are united in mission aren’t similar? I hadn’t thought of life quite that way, but likely it all stems from a solid family unit from our very beginning. You’ve got me thinking this morning! Have a terrific time in Fuertaventura. (I had to look that one up — looks fabulous!)
Onward and downward.
Day 10 Stevensville Maryland USA CNFD
Welcome @j3mm9, this forum has really given me the strength that I so needed.
Thank you everyone for the wishes, it was a magical night. My DH is such a romantic. We are both grateful for each other everyday, but to celebrate our “I do day” is always special.
After only showing 1/2lb yesterday on my Friday weigh in, I decided to step on the scale this morning. Even after a wonderful dinner and some bubbly I managed to lose 1.8lbs this morning. I read this wonderful article yesterday
http://www.healthdiscovery.net/articles/scale_lies.htm and it kind of made sense.
I might not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday. Have a great day/night.
Day 10 UK CD
Up & out Really Early this morning, back home and baking healthy bread while watching rugby – go Scotland! (Ireland are my 2nd team – I’m so torn with this match!)
I’m going out to lunch tomorrow for Mothering Sunday and was keen to give myself some motivation not to get too indulgent. So I had a good look at my butt-naked body in a full-length mirror yesterday evening – and realised how very far I have yet to go. I can either look at it as a bit depressing or the memory will keep me motivated for a good while yet! 😀
@cornish-jane – congratulations on your whoosh & thank you for the link to your yoga class! I do adapted yoga so probably wouldn’t manage a class designed for healthy people, but have wonderful memories of St Austell from family holidays at Gorran Haven 🙂
@mjrbcd44 sorry about your gallbladder attack 🙁 Hope it settles down quickly
@fivetwofan5252 congratulations on reaching your goal weight!
Have a lovely weekend, and Happy Mothers Day for all who are celebrating tomorrow 🙂
Hello all day 10 NI slow day
Been a bit absent of late as I have been so busy in work – not caught up on posts but a couple caught my eye
@fivetwofan5252 congratulations on reaching your goal – another to be highlighted on our spreadsheet 🎉
@strawberriesandcream – I remember this saying from a previous challenge ‘it’s not the situation, it’s your reaction to the situations that counts’. Good for you standing up for your self to that prick!
The analogy to Roger Bannister reminded me of a post in one of our previous challenges
Not sure if the following story is actually true but it has been repeated a lot.
A man accidentally locked himself inside a refrigerated box car. Try as he did, he couldn’t get out. He recorded his progress by writing on the side of the car. The first entry indicated he was slowly getting colder and colder. He said there was nothing to do but wait. He probably banged on the side of the car and yelled for someone to help him, but there was no one nearby to hear. Finally, he wrote, “I’m slowing freezing to death. These may be my last words.” They were.
The next day the man was found dead there on the floor of the box car. He had died, but not because he froze to death, but because he believed he had. He knew he was in a refrigerated car and knew that it would have subfreezing temperatures–that is under normal circumstances, but the refrigeration unit was out of order. The temperature in the car was actually 57 degrees Fahrenheit, and there was plenty of air. The man died of his own self-created illusion.
or the story about the weight lifter –
One of he most amazing and encouraging stories of all concerns the Russian weight lifter Vasily Alexeyev. Before the mid 1970’s no human being had ever lifted 500 pounds overhead. The Russian held the world record, but he was never able to break the 500 pound barrier–though he had tried several times. For one important competition, his trainers told him that he would be lifing a weight he had lifted before-499.9 pounds. He did it and then discovered that his trainers had deceived him about the weight–he had actually I lifted 500 1/2 pounds–a new world’s record!
What his trainers did was purposely tell him to do something he already knew he could do. they had erased a limitation that had been embedded not only in his mind but also in the mind of all other weight lifters, and the 500 pound barrier was broken forever. Soon other weight lifters were lifting more than 500 pounds also. In fact, once the 500 pound limitation was removed from his mind, Vasily went on to lift more than 560 pounds overhead.
Before the 4 minute mile was achieved no one thought it possible yet once one proved it could be done others followed soon after – why because they now believed that it could be done.
We really need to get to grips with our mindset over the number on the scale – acknowledge what it says and move on. It is only an indication and does not define us and certainly should not dictate as to whether we have a good day or bad day.
As more and more challenge members achieve their goal – those still on their journey must believe that we too will achieve our goal.
ccco USA Day 10 FD
Finally, got to read the posts!
Bert: I love Trader Joe’s, too! I have one. I used to go to their old location even though their parking was terrible! Their new location has a beautiful location and is closer with a big parking lot, but it’s always full! It’s so very popular. I will go again when the parking improves!
J3mm9: Welcome! 🙂 Bert explained a controlled day. I do the CD by counting my calories and measuring my food so as not to go over my TDEE. You can use this site’s tracker to find your TDEE. Good luck and have a great weekend!
Saffy420: I am excited about the chef idea! I am busily eating up my fresh veggies because for the first two weeks, I can only eat certain ones. Of course, those are the ones I don’t have! Thanks for the encouragement! Have a great Saturday!
Rainbowsmile: Go for it, Mari, with your 4HR exercise challenge! I will be thinking of you!
toddybear: I will root for you to meet your running challenge! I was a long distance runner when I was younger, including while in school, as was my father and brother! Long distance running is very much a mental challenge. Also, your breathing technique is important! Get that right and you will be amazed how far and long you can run!! Good luck!
Dinana123: Congrats! Glad you had such a wonderful romantic time with your DH! 🙂 Just read you link. Great link! Thanks! It makes me think that weighing once a week is probably best, as is measuring ourselves. Have a great Saturday!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!
Day 10 Las Vegas NV USA NFD
Much to my surprise I had no issues eating after I broke my 5 day WF. I wanted to eat a bunch of carbs to recharge my glycogen and ate a whole leftover pizza for lunch! This is not a good thing because cow cheese and wheat are inflammatory for me. In an hour or so I couldn’t keep my eyes open and took a 3 hour nap. I woke up and still groggy I watched TV for a couple of hours and then went to bed. I slept a solid 9 hours and feel great this AM.
I gained ~3 lbs in one day due to food transit and glycogen restock.
Today starts a new 12 week cycle for me. My goal is to grow muscle without any fat gain. It will be alternate day “fasting”. NFD’s will be about 500 cal over my RMR (resting metabolic rate) and FD’s will be around 700 calories.
My schedule looks like this:
Day 1) NFD- Upper body weight workout
Day 2) FD
Day 3) NFD- Lower body weight workout
Day 4) FD
Day 5) NFD- HIIT
Day 6) FD

Day 10 NFD Oregon USA
Yesterday was recovering from the gallbladder attack and don’t think I went over TDEE but was all Saltines and apple juice. 😝
Am trying a protocol of apple juice mixed with apple cider vinegar to see if I can reset. I had missed my probiotics for about a week and had gotten a little laxidaisical about the herbal gallbladder support I was talking. Back to it and will hope that works. Thanks to all who sent healing vibes and kind thoughts.
The weather here is going to be beautiful all weekend and I am thrilled!! Also will help mood and help me get in some exercise.
#3 son coming home for his spring break and we are heading to the ocean for the day tomorrow.
Welcome to all our newbies! So great to have you here. You will find a most fantastic support group here.
I was hoping that March would be my on track, hit it hard before vacation month but I have been bumbling about.
Two weeks until we leave now so still time to lose a few pounds if I really apply myself.
Have a great day wherever you are and @flourbaby enjoy your cake (s)!!😊

Day 10 Belfast NFD
So while no lbs off, my skinny jeans are falling off. 👍
Happy anniversary @daffodil and Diana123
@rainbowsmile I didn’t realise you were in Brighton. My grannie lived in Saltdean and I have very happy memories of those long hot summers in the Lido and browsing the Lanes.
@metatauta well done on that 13 year low. I too am hovering at a long term low and have about 10 lbs to go so I’m holding your hand from afar. We CAN do this.
Well done @ Cornish-Jane. Keep the faith!
@mjrbcd44 hope you’re feeling better now.
@ccco will be interested to follow your chef trial.
@coda – great post
Happy Saturday one and all.

ccco USA Day 10 FD
Final Post
I am glad that this FD seems to be going well, too! I had preplanned my meals but I had some different urges, so I giggled a few things around eliminating what I had to in order to engage in my urges! LOL
Diverdog: Great job on your 5 day water fast. It’s amazing you were able to eat so readily afterwards. I am not surprised about your sleeping. I only tried 2 water fasts but I also found myself sleeping afterwards. WTG!
Debster251: I will let you know how this chef thing unfolds. I am excited about it and it will fit right into my 5:2 and 16:8 plans.
Have a great Saturday evening (if it’s still evening where you are) and a great weekend! 🙂
