  • Day 10 & 11…NSW Australia…NFD

    Hi everyone

Gorgeous sunny day with milder temperatures today – might go potter in the garden.

FD for me tomorrow – will be glad to get back to a routine, but enjoy the flexibility 5:2 offers!

Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    Day 10,Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

No time to read posts today. Will catch up later.
    Have a good weekend everyone!🥀🥀🥀

    Day 10 North Wales NFD

    Day 10, UK, NFD

Not unhappy with my eating today . It seem that it comes more naturally now eating smaller portions which means less calories, combining with healthier choices it should give results 🙂

@daffodil2010 I hate when people try to jump queue, you had right to tell him! How infuriating 😡 . I’ll be interested to know how you like that kefir, please keep us posted 🙂 . I still use the offspring of my batch 😉

I always enjoy reading through the posts here, even when I don’t get a chance to post much myself 😊

    Have good day/evening everyone 🤗

Day 11, Brighton UK, CFD plus 4hr exercise challenge day 2

@debster251 I have access to a holiday flat in Brighton, guess where? Saltdean, overlooking the recently refurbished Lido! I love the lanes too. I am normanly in Guildford. The sea air is doing me good.

@ccco when I see your handle I think chocolate. Dark chocolate……yes food! I did one HR body pump, one hour spin and 2 hrs of dance. I jive.

@mjrbcd44 I hope your health issues improve. Sending you healing hugs.

@diverdog a 5 day fast, WOW, just WOW

Weight is stable at the moment, great news.

    Mari

    Day 11 Ireland NFD

Have not checked in much this month. Very busy with work and leaving on holidays today. Wii be very active but will try to make the right food choices.
Seems like a lot of success this month so well done to everybody and welcome to new joiners!
    Onward and downward as always!

Day 11 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧.
Down 2lb first loss in ages.
Another week like would be nice.
Sitting here this morning watching the blue tits checking out the nesting boxes in the garden looks like spring is on its way at long last. Have a lovely weekend everybody.

Day 11 Australia NFD (Day 3 of diet)

All is well so far. Scales say that something has come off already from the first fast day – will see what they say in a week. Thank you so much diverdog for the advice. Unfortunately I have always had to be conscious of what I eat. I am also GF and need low gi due to my body – my first packaged “treat” in six weeks was some rice crackers – my husband laughed at me! I’ve been tracking my cals for a while and on 1200 I was very slowly putting on, so the doctor said I’m probably one of a small minority that simply cannot eat as much as others and he suggested I try this diet but to keep my NFD at 1200. I think my BMR should be around 1450 – 1600cals, depending on the week. I used to be able to lose weight on 1200, but doctor thinks as I get older I need less and less. Trying another FD tomorrow, but will be at work and not getting home til late.

So nice to hear your stories from all over the world.
@diverdog – hats off to you with your 5 day water fast.
@arelkade – it was such a lovely day. Loving these Autumn days! Winter can wait.

I almost forgot to say a big thank you for all of the welcome messages. So glad to be going through this with others.

    Day 11 Belfast NFD

    Day 11, London, UK, NFD

Another celebratory day ahead, I’ll be cooking today for Mothers’ Day, yesterday was a Thai takeaway for mums’ birthday. So an entire weekend ‘off plan’, which is ok, but I’m sooo looking forward to another FD already, I really enjoy the ‘clean’ feeling after a FD. I think it’s an empowerment thing really …………. I AM in charge of my own destiny!!!!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, stay strong!!!!

    Day 11, UK, FD
79.9kg. This wek has been a bit too lax. Time to knuckle down again.

    Day 11 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 CD

First day of trying out the fasting mimicking diet. Had cooked mushrooms and tomato on bed of spinach for breakfast, satisfying and only 100 calories. So far so good!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday.

    Day 10 & 11 – UK – NFD

    Happy Mothers Day
Did you know that the origins of Mother’s Day date back to the ancient Greek times. The ancient Greeks dedicated an annual spring festival to maternal goddesses, and ancient Romans also celebrated a spring festival called Hilaria which was for a mother goddess called Cybele.
In the 16th century it was considered highly important to return to the main church in the area, known as the mother church, at least once a year. Most people would do this in the middle of Lent and use the opportunity to see their families. It is believed children would pick flowers on the way home from church and give them to their mothers, which is why we give flowers today. In the UK it is the Fourth Sunday in Lent (Mothering Sunday)

Rugby lovers a very entertaining afternoon yesterday 🏉

Beautiful day here blue skies and sunshine and nearly in double figure – perfect for a lovely walk!

@missybear – Good luck with your 5 day FMD – it will be interesting to hear your journey
@j3mm9 – A big welcome to the challenge and to this WOL – best advice is to just follow the basic principles for a the first couple of months – it does work! The following link by @simcoeluv should be helpful:- https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
and read my first post on Page 1 as it tells you what we are all about ☺️
    @toddybear – 👍
    @daffodil2010 – some people…….
@diana123 – what better news than to have enjoyed celebrating your anniversary and a loss on the scales too!!
@coda – great analogies and wise words to inspire as usual
@diverdog – Thank you for sharing your journey – always look forward to your posts
@mjrbcd44 – you will be amazed at what you can achieve in a couple of weeks – think of us on this challenge and focus – hold on tight 🤗
    @debster251 – great news on the 👖
@jaifaim – nice to hear from you – enjoy your holiday – be great to hear of your adventures!
@steve-toon-taxi-driver – nice to have eliminated those 2lbs
@jemima-puddleduck – have you tried working out your TDEE for the weight you want to be NOT your current weight! on the resources here and putting in lightly active or even sedentary as your exercise level and eat to that level on NFD and 1/4 of that on FD – sometimes eating too little is not good either and try reducing carbs and processed food and drink plenty of water – try that for a month or so and see what happens….

One full week completed of this challenge as we are already into our second week – TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

I thought I would share something a previous challenge member use to say:- “I am striving for “PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION.”
And before eating, I ask myself, “WILL THIS GET ME CLOSER TO MY GOALS?”

    Day 11 UK NFD

Found a dress yesterday for the wedding of my best friend’s daughter. I have never, ever shopped in Laura Ashley thinking that their sizes were small and stopped about size 16. Well I popped in yesterday as I was getting bored and fed up. On the sale rack was a lovely dress just right for the occasion. They had my size(uk 18) so I tried it on and it was massive. I asked the assistant it they had it in 16, she looked at me and brought a 14. It fitted and I cried. It’s the first thing in a 14 I’ve bought in over 20 years. Bonus it was reduced from £110 to £25. 🙂. It gave me a real perspective of how far I’ve come, I still see myself as this fat person, whilst I’m nowhere near slim, I’m closer than I was when I started this WOL last year.

Off to see the family later for Mother’s Day. My mum hasn’t seen the new haircut yet. I can’t see how I’ll stick to TDEE with roast dinner, wine and trifle etc. But hey tomorrow’s a FD and I’ve now got the perfect incentive to keep going hanging in my wardrobe.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone. Hope all the mums are being spoiled.

    Day 11…..Florida……NFD

Lately, there has been some talk about the types of foods we eat versus there calories. I’ve read several articles that indicate that a calorie is a calorie and that the macros do not necessarily matter. I honestly believing that this is not the case for many of us here. For me, I know that certain foods, while low in calories make my scale as well as my body reacting negatively and it causes a weight gain.
My biggest trigger is carbs and food that are fried and asparagus cause me to break out I can. Eat these be well below my TDEE or even have them on a FD, a I will have a gain on the scales for up to three days.
For some of you, it may not be that you need to eat fewer calories but take a closer look into what you are eating.
To test this theory, this is how I did it. It takes a good three weeks of taking stock but it’s well worth it.
First prepare a list of food you think may be causing unnecessary havoc on your body.
For two to three days, eat only 500 calories, drink more water than you can imagine, eat clean and unprocessed foods. I stuck to mainly fruits and veg. I did add some yogurt for my gut health. I really tried to get my body and gut to as neutral as possible.
Then slowly start adding foods that are on your list. Please make note of how you feel, even if it feels insignificant. Add foods very slowly, every couple days add a new item. It helps if you do this to everything you eat too.
Once you’ve added everything on your list or even anything you eat on a daily basis.
Do a reset on your body, do a two to three day fast eating only 500 calories.
Now before you head back into a regular cycle of eating. Review your list. If anything on your list, makes you feel bad, or makes you gain weight, bloat or anything you just don’t like…. those are your trigger foods.
These are the foods you will want to try to stay away from. I’m not saying eliminating them completely but be mindful of them.

I know many of the old timers know which food are your triggers but as we grow as a group. I think it beneficial for our newbies to experience this, so they too can have great success!

    Okay, I’m done……..

    Have a great day!

When someone yells stop, I don’t know if it’s in the name of Love, it’s hammer time or I should collaborate and listen!

    Day 11 USA (Illinois) NFD

Good pretty controlled day yesterday. Processing some family news that has thrown my life into a bit of a tizzy, but I hope to get through this and on with life.

@saffy420 -congratulations on your great Laura Ashley dress find! Isn’t it wonderful when you MUST buy new clothes, and smaller sizes fit! Yeah for you! Have a terrific time with your mum.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 11 – USA – NFD

This month sure is flying by! @saffy420, congrats on being at the lowest in 20 years! I know the feeling and it is exhilarating and very motivating. @basyjames, thank you for thinking of me; that was a very sweet post. @debster251, we have a similiar number of lbs. to go before maintenance, woo hoo! If I don’t look too drawn in the face at 150 lbs., I may opt to shave off another 5. I’m only 5’4, but I tend to lose in the face which shows too many wrinkles! @songbirdme, I know this is your strategy in maintenance as well; I copied the idea from you! I hope your family news is not too disconcerting.

    Day 11, Surrey (UK), NFD

Oooh, a set-back. Went out for a Chinese meal with some good friends last night. I thought I was being careful with portion control & only half a glass of wine because I always gain after Asian food but….3lbs overnight! WHAT?! Hopefully it’s mostly water-weight which will whoosh out after tomorrow’s FD. I hate the idea of 3 weeks’ hard work undone in one evening dinner. I know, though, that the scales don’t tell the whole story.

Have to keep on keeping on <sigh> and remember….
Scales are vanity, 5:2 is sanity!

Enjoy the rest of Mother’s Day, hope you mums are all being spoiled!

    Day 11, Gozo Malta, nfd

Yesterday ended up as a cd. I went to see a ballet show done by gozitan young people and my four year old granddaughter participated. She was a bubble 🐝 bee. It was such a lovely show and I enjoyed enjoyed it.

Today I prepared curried parsnip soup, jerk chicken with roasted potatoes and apple and blackberry crumble served warm with amereno ice cream. I enjoyed the meal with my family.

Tomorrow is the first of a B2B2B at around 800 calories each day.

    Diana1234 happy belated 😃 anniversary.

Have a great 👍 Sunday everyone.

Day 11 Stevenville Maryland USA CFD

Today I am changing up my 2 CFD’s this week I will water fast until dinner and keep dinner at a 800 or less calorie meal.

I have dinner plans for tomorrow which is a normal fast day. After my meal tonight I am going to fast until dinner tomorrow night. Hope this works out. This is the part of this WOL that I really love. I can be flexible.

I might not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday. Everyone enjoy your day/night.

Day 11, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

Hello Staffy.Your post just made me cry.But not in a bad way .A bit down at the mo,but you cheered me up thx Chris xx

    Day 11, UK, NFD

Day has been fine so far, its a nice weather outside so I’m going for a walk.

@saffy420 your story made me emotional, its so inspiring 😊 , well done!

@marsbar2 I’m feeling down at the moment too, so sending you a virtual hug 🤗

Hope everyone is having a good day 😀

Thanks for your reply Shinything.Very much appreciated.Feeling uplifted .

Bert1802, in the lab a calorie is certainly a calorie but I’m convinced from the research I’ve seen and my personal experience that in the body it’s just not so. Eating an equal amount of carb, protein or fat have vastly different effects on our bodies. Fat causes no insulin spike and suppresses appetite. Carbs spike and crash insulin causing craving and fat storage.

As for foods that cause inflammation they can vary widely for the individual. Some common ones are cow dairy, grain (especially whole grain), legumes, soy, eggs and nightshade veggies.

I was tested and for me the no-nos are cow dairy, whole wheat, soy, garbanzo beans (so no hummus), pumpkin and pistachio nuts! When I eliminate or minimise these foods I sleep better, have less joint discomfort and lose fat faster.

    Day 11, Cornwall UK, NFD

Sourdough bread has been baked. My OH took over as I was neglecting the starter a bit – reluctance on my part to actually bake in case it caused a binge. First loaf was tasty, second a bit dense. We may up the starter to flour ratio to get a better rise. The starter really likes the better weather!

I’m struggling a bit with the snacking demons today – same old problem. Had to retreat to my bedroom to get away from them!

    Second post

Had a bit of an EFS day yesterday and if I’m honest, I’m disappointed in myself. Today is a better day. After a walk in the forest this morning, we spent the afternoon cleaning and packing our touring caravan for the new season. Had a lovely Mother’s Day face time chat with my boys today too, so it’s been an uplifting day.

@saffy420 it was your day. What a special moment. Congratulations! I had a lump in my throat reading your post. With your smart haircut, you are a new woman!
@ Bert1802- great advice. Thank you and I totally agree.
@songbirdme – I hope your family news is not too serious.
@metatauta – I’m 5’6”and now 149 lbs (ish) but my waist is 34” and I would like to reduce my middle first and foremost. Sadly the first weight to disappear was my face, boobs and bum ☹️ My OS teases me about my ‘droopy face’, but the wrinkles are there for keeps now I guess. In the big picture, for me the health benefits have to outweigh the cosmetic considerations. So let’s go for this. We can and we will👍

When my losing weight became apparent, I encouraged one of my best friends to go on the 5:2. She has now lost 14lbs. When people give her compliments, she gives ME the credit and tells them how much weight I’ve lost and kept off. So what I’m trying to say, is that sometimes you forget how far you’ve come. Despite being a tortoise🐢 in other people’s eyes I’m obviously doing something right. That gives me strength to carry on.

For all of us who, like me, have lost their lovely mothers, today is a day to remember those precious moments that we shared. Enjoy the rest of your day.

    Day 11 UK NFD

Feasting for Mothering Sunday & Refreshment Sunday today 🙂 Out for lunch with my lovely daughter who took me to a supercool place in Seven Dials for vegetarian/vegan lunch and smallbatch coffee. A couple of bearded hipsters budged up to make room for us at a table with a view, while outside a food photographer was popping in and out with various dishes to display them in the street. Really enjoyed aliver of spinach quiche with smorgasbord of salads washed down with sparkling water & followed by g-f peanut & cacao brownie – utterly yum, and probably a million calories.

Just loved hanging out and catching up with my daughter. Some days we really connect and share all sorts of parallels and life- ideas and this was one of them. This evening I spoke to my mother on the phone for over an hour. She was sharing stories of her own mother – who died when she was a teenager – recollections of visits to Ireland to her paternal grandmother, plus stories and family legends of the women who’ve gone before. Some days are all about holding space for people to share their stories lovely way to round off Mothering Sunday!

I agree with the idea that not-all-calories are created equal. I hear the constant call of carbs, esp bread, and they usually wake the dozing sugar dragon. My fat suit inflates if I have daily bread – even my homemade oat/seed/yogurt loaf. Sigh.

Baked a good loaf yesterday – I have the hang of this one now, finally turning out consistently well so it’s in my repertoire – yay!

Not lookin forward to the week which has more to fit in than I can physically do, some of which is super stressful. But I am looking forward to fasting tomorrow and the energy that brings.

    Take care everyone. Small

@saffy420 many congratulations – what amazing progress! Thank you for sharing your inpsiring story.

    Day 12 – Japan – LFD (#15 in 2018) 84.5kg

Back from China. Really had way too much food in China. My weight went up a little over 85kg and then became more stable a little below 85kg. I think 84.8kg was the most typical reading. So I guess that ~150 days of fasts has moved my set point down.

My wife is having a lot of pain and we don’t know what the problem is yet. She may have a hernia. This is making her hypersensitive and she is once again unhappy with my fasting. However I’m mainly fasting because of the health benefits of it. In 2013 I wasn’t doing well and now my health is vastly better. Anyway I agreed to see a doctor here in Japan for a physical. Not crazy about it because in Japan physical take a full day with even some invasive tests such as checking for stomach cancer. Oh well.

Day 11 Las Vegas NV FD (700 cal)

Coming off my 5 day WF I’m experimenting a bit with how I partition my carbs. I did a tough upper body weight workout yesterday and consumed mostly protein and fat (and some leafy greens) early in the day saving my carbs for dinner. At dinner I over-ate a bit on homemade potato salad. I went to bed at my normal time ~10:30 and I slept like the dead! I felt awesome this morning.

I’m going to continue to eat in that patter and see what happens.

Day 11 – SW WA USA – NFD

Enjoying an abundance of food on this day of abundant sunshine and warmest temperature of the month! Met up with a friend for a Sunday afternoon drive visiting a restaurant that had been recommended (enjoyed fish & chips and a great red slaw), plus time exploring a covered bridge and grist mill. All this within 1/2 hour or so drive but the first time taking them in even though I’ve been in the area close to five years.

@saffy420 – awww! wow! I can see you in the dress shop now! Celebrating with you in the smaller size victory!

@songbirdme – wishing you well as you process the family news

@fatfingers – I’m guessing sodium in the Chinese meal may be the culprit. Should be temporary as you drown it with water 🙂

Family news wise for me, my Uncle closest to me in age & my mom’s youngest brother just passed away Friday morning in central Canada. I certainly would love to go celebrate his life with the family but it’s not a time of year I can get away from school. We were quite close; lots of good memories of talks… he photographed my wedding… He was only 73.

    Day 11 NFD Oregon USA

A beautiful 65(F) day at the Oregon coast and no wind. Really put my mood in a much better place. Still struggling with pain in both gallbladder and pancreas. But keeping on keeping on!
    #
@saffy420 what a fantastic story. So very happy for your well-deserved dress find and low weight. And a bargain to boot! Can it get better??❤️💪👍

    @songbirdme-good thoughts coming your way.

@metatauta–you sound “happier” and I hope that life is evening out again. You will be in maintenance mode before you know it.

@debster251 thanks for your kind thoughts and sorry about your EFS but happy you had a nice chat with your boys.

@michelinme your day with your daughter sounds so lovely.

And to all of our UK mom’s hope you have all had a very happy Mother’s day!❤️

On to Monday and will see what happens as am out of town…may shift to Tuesday for FD.

“Old ways won’t open new doors.”

    Day 12 Gold Coast FD

Very disappointed in myself as I seemed to eat all day yesterday. Strict liquid fast day today, not beating myself up but getting straight back on track.

Day 12 country West Australia FD
    Day 11 NFD
    Day 10 NFD
    Day 9 NFD
    Day 8 NFD

EEKKK! Finding it much more difficult to be disciplined this year than 12 months ago when I posted every day and was able to maintain this WOL more easily.
Looking forward to a FD today as I do like how my body feels when I am fasting, headaches notwithstanding .
This time exactly 12 months ago ( March 12th 2017) I was at my lightest in years.
Today alas, I am at my heaviest in years!!.
I have overeaten enough to put on all the weight I lost in a few months from November 2016 and have added even more.
Not happy with myself but it is entirely my own doing.
Back to minus square one – but with a big birthday later in the year I really do plan to be diligent and get back to where I was last year.
You can try to fool yourself but the proof is in the pudding ( sadly too much of that!!!)😲

    Day 12 North Wales FD

    Day 12 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
    Day 11 – NFD

Oops, so busy yesterday I forgot to post. I had a lovely weekend (despite my incident with the queue jumper). Today is our wedding anniversary but we went out for our celebration meal on Friday. Saturday we had a lovely lazy day, watched the rugby, (WOO HOO Ireland 🇮🇪), and yesterday we visited my stepdaughter and my step grand daughter and I received a lovely Mothers Day card and gift from them. So lovely. Never having children it’s so special to receive a little card on Mothers Day ☺️

Hope all you Mums out there had a wonderful day.

FD today, and raring to go. I might turn it into an LFD but see how I feel later as it’s also TOM 🙁 Boo.

@saffy420 I had a lump in my throat reading about your dress shop experience. So very happy for you, well deserved.

@bert1802 I might follow that food elimination plan you outlined. I know white carbs are not good for me, I know I feel unwell when I eat soya, and I am really interested to find out what other triggers I have. I fear garlic may be one, but let’s see.

Right off to work. It might be a busy week as we gear up for the St Patrick’s Day bank holiday next weekend…..more celebrations 😄

    Day 12- UK – Reading – FD

A FD for me after over indulging over the weekend. I totally empathize with your Mother’s Day experience @daffodil2010.

Adding myself to the fasters in my pocket today:
    @camcd
    @lilymartin
    @molij
    @daffodil2010
    @ktcaroline

    Day 12, Amsterdam

Not sure if I’ll be doing a FD or NFD. My friends visited over the weekend and we had many beers. Stepping on the scales this morning wasn’t fun.

I’ve had a banana (usually would wait till dinner) because I didn’t eat dinner last night as we had a fairly late lunch. Completely forgot that I was fasting today. Think I’ll sack in the FD and do it tomorrow. Though I’d like to see a nicer scale reading asap, I just don’t think I can get through the day on just a banana. Oh well, will join a pocket list tomorrow! Only 5 days till we go skiing, really must try hard this week. I am certain that beers will be flowing aplenty then. Hopefully the constant exercise offsets it a bit!

    Good luck everyone!

    Day 12 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

    Day 12, UK, FD
80.1 kg. Yesterday’s FD turned into a NFD…. and it shows on the scales. The dreaded 80s again. Hitting the re-set button today.

    Day 12, London, UK, NFD,

Congratulations on the tearjerker dress @saffy420. You can look at the scales or even tell yourself how far you’ve come, but the change in dress size is the definitive proof we need!! The brain retraining continues as you start to see yourself as others see you!!!

I did something similar last year with a pair of size 18 holiday shorts, grabbed them off the shelf, held them against me and in my head, they looked about right, until I got them home and realised I could fit into one leg!!!! Exchanged them for a 14 in a state of shock …….. Lovely!!

@songbirdme, thinking of you & hoping you do get through it relatively unscathed.

@lilymartin, I used to think it was more difficult to do something 2nd time around, giving up smoking, dieting, exercise, etc, etc……………. but that’s just in my head!!!!! The 2nd time around just meant my enthusiasm was a little less, but the experiences from the 1st time around actually meant I was better prepared!!! You truly have got this and with our support, that goal is just around the corner, your wagon seat awaits!!!

    Onward & downwards everyone!!

Day 12 Newcastle UK FD 🇬🇧.
Here we go again. Hoping everyone has a great week

    Day 12, London, UK, FD

After an indulgent weekend of Mother’s Day Chinese Lunch with my mum and a Evening Roast Dinner with the in-laws yesterday I can quite happily say I am enjoying having a fast day today!

This will be my 5th fast of March so far, I’m looking at doing 3 B2B fasts this week through to Weds to get rid of the weekend bloat – I have 3 busy days ahead so should be fine. I’m enjoying the fast pattern of having hot teas/water all day and then the one evening meal – as I love dinners but don’t miss having breakfast.

I work out everyday on my lunch break – and I have found that doing my indoor cycling classes on a fasted empty stomach makes me feel so much better and I have more energy! So I have decided to skip breakfast everday now as part of my new fast plan approach.

I was always under the impression that you must eat breakfast to regulate blood sugar – so would force myself to have something even if I didn’t want to. I would always be worried that I’d overeat later on in the day if I didn’t have breakfast, but fasting has taught me that I can control my cravings and what I eat in the evening.

I haven’t had any issues with overeating on FD’s, and the day after my Fast day I don’t feel the need to overeat and find I eat my food more slowly.

I typically fast on Mondays and Weds – leaving the Weekend to enjoy whatever I want. I’m a serial binger on the weekends and have found that on Saturdays I have been making healthier choices by default and only eating when I’m actually hungry. By Sunday I find myself wanting more food and this is probably the one day of the week that I overeat the most – but because I am fasting the next day and I work out 5 days a week – I let myself indulge.

I have already had compliments from friends about weight loss and it’s only been 12 days! Some of my clothes already feel looser and I can see a change in my body in the mirror. I haven’t weighed myself yet and don’t intend to until the end of March as I hate getting attached to weighing myself and the disappointment that comes with not losing what I think is a good amount of weight. I don’t agree with weighing everyday as I think it is very unrealistic and I have stopped counting calories and am now taking a common sense approach to eating.

From what I’ve read in 5:2 Diet Fast book – you are not supposed to count calories on NFD – I keep hearing reference to TDEE and I thought that there was something that I was doing wrong. To me this plan is about resetting the mind and my relationship with food, the day after a FD I naturally don’t want to overeat because I understand that my body doesn’t need a ridiculous amount of food to run. I think counting calories on NFD’s will make it feel like a short term diet and this is supposed to be a new way of life – well for me it is.

I enjoy cleaning out the system every Monday and Weds and also not having breakfast everyday because I am naturally not that hungry in the mornings. I’d say do what feels right for yourself and your body and don’t get bogged down with scales and calories – Use your common sense – listen to what your body wants, nourish yourself and don’t put anything off limits!

Well done to everyone so far!!

    Day 12 London UK FD

Just checking in. Have a good day everybody.

    Day 12……Florida……FD

Just a quick post as I just did not want to get up this morning. So, I ignored my alarm and slept a half hour long. Which made it worse!

So my time is a bit limited!

When someone yells stop, I don’t know if it’s in the name of Love, it’s hammer time or I should collaborate and listen!

    Day 12 – UK – FD

Had a lovely day yesterday for mothers day – flowers and a cheeky card from DD who unexpectedly stopped by on her way to work. Later went for a hike with OH then out for a coffee and a slice of berry polenta cake that was so yummy!!
That evening I met with DD after her work day finished, for cocktails and then on to a favourite restaurant for a lovely meal, had duck confit with a very scrumptious glass of a Pitch Fork Shiraz from McLaren Vale Australia – we had such a lovely time together, catching up and like @michelinme said in her post it was so nice just to have time to talk and share 👩‍❤️‍👩

After that lovely dinner and cocktails and wine last night I’m definitely ready for a FD today and planning on fasting until I’m out for dinner again tomorrow night so some 45hrs of fasting with only water, cups of tea with a dash of skimmed milk and perhaps of glass of milk kefir before bed tonight.

I have a pilates class this afternoon followed by a yoga class this evening so that should help to keep me focused.
