Brilliant weight loss Red T! The bad breath situation will go. My OH had the same thing in the early months…sweet as a meadow now.
We now have the cooler weather today too. I’ve picked up some cheap Roma tomatoes. I quarter them lengthways and place them on baking paper, spread a little basil pesto on the cut surfaces and sprinkle with sea salt and olive oil. Bake in a low oven for over an hour until they are shrivelled, nor burnt. Delicious on salads or as an extra on any veg.
Happy weekend everyone. P
Congrats on your great and consistent losses RT! Be proud of yourself. We all know that, although 5:2 is a lot easier than other ways, it still takes commitment and determination. I tried 4:3 this week ( more than usual social stuff on ), worked really well with exactly 1 kg in a week and total of 7.4 off in 9 weeks. What a great start to the weekend. And I found 4:3 quite easy to handle thru the week.
Hi fast(ing) friends.
RT congrats on your loss, such good work. I’m also a slug in comparison with 14kg gone in 10.5 months.
Your breath may be a sign you are burning fats for energy (ketosis) as bad breath is a common symptom. As Purple says, it will pass and in the meantime, chew gum/clean your teeth or whatever when you’re near others.
Thanks for smiley tips, trying here …. π³ and 8) – now editing, the specs one didn’t work π
For the Aussies east of here it’s just started raining.
Keep up the good work all.
Morning all.
RT
I hope you are really pleased and proud of yourself. We all talk about this being the easiest way of losing weight, but that doesn’t mean it is easy. It takes commitment, determination and self control, qualities that everyone on this thread seems to have in spades π
Nicky is correct in suggesting that the bad breath is caused by ketosis, so you can tell Mrs RT it is the smell of burning fat π
Nama Nicky and Amazon (love the pope move how can this be??)
you guys seriously
are the bomb thank you
a ketosis you say that is a great phrase so much more interesting than arse breath π― i find π
Mrs RT is not real impressed at all actually she finds no positives in my success wharsoever as I find everything I do and apply myself to very easy
I have no words her thermostat her emotions and her rationale upto shit bonza sorry if I affend not my intention at all the HRT and all the other gear that is the tablet form is a prop at best
nevermind
this is for better or worse sickness and in health till death do us part….
Thank -you

Aussie oma I likewise could not use the link either but i have only tried on my iPad shall try on my PC later.
As I drink too much coffee at work I was thinking of other choices so today when I was window shopping I came across a T2 shop. Half an hour later I walked out with a glass/ mug tea infuser and two boxes of herbal teas. My intention is to have tea instead of coffee at work especially on my fast days. I am drinking a star anise cardamom concoction at the moment . It is delicious. RT you are an inspiration.
Ginger jam is fabulous. It makes a great bread and butter pudding, and is wonderful spread on ham as a glaze.
I’m resisting the temptation to get on the scales until I’ve done my M/Tu B2B as I’m hoping they will tell me I’ve lost the final couple of lbs to my holiday goal of 2 stone.
I had better not eat too much bread. I’ll slice it up later and freeze it. Out of sight out of mind.
I’m trying to use up everything perishable that is hanging around in the fridge so tonight will be a huge veggie and prawn stir fry, and tomorrow bubble and squeak with a fried egg.
I can’t take to camomile tea. I persevered in case it is an acquired taste, but if it is I’m unable to acquire it. I like lime and ginger and butter mint, which is mint tea with a dash of vanilla and tastes like a Murray mint without the sugar. I don’t mind some of the red fruity flavours, and I’m getting used to green tea, but I have to add some stevia to it.
Hi all
1lb down this morning and I’m at a stone marker i.e.10st and no pounds. That’s 17lb since starting in mid July. A good but cheeky friend told me yesterday he could see from across the room that I had lost more weight. He pointed out that he wasn’t looking at my face at the time! π I replied that small is beautiful! He is also doing IF with amazing results. He’s lost about 23lb in less than half that time.
It’s so good that we can take a break and pick up IF later. I’m visiting my daughter soon for a week and will only manage one FD when I get back before the York trip but I,ll have all four wheels back on the wagon from 1st Dec π

PS I don’t crave jam but I do miss it. Raspberry is my favourite. I keep promising myself I’ll get some but bread, butter and jam is my nemesis…
Mmmm…. Crabtree & Evelyn raspberry jam is the best, on fresh, crusty bread with butter to boot! Oh well, every now and then is ok! Then we enjoy it more!
Amazon the Sri Lankan Christmas cake has preserved ginger, preserved pumpkin, strawb jam and pineapple jam, but not ginger jam! I am starting it tomorrow, the fruit etc is supposed to macerate for two months before the semolina and 19 egg whites (and 10 yolks) are added…my hairdresser says he only leaves it for a week so I might do that. It does make two cakes though!
Went out for Thai tonight for son’s fiancΓ©es birthday, lovely night with family. And the sate prawns were not bad either! Now it’s pouring rain in Melb too, might be a good day for baking tomorrow.
Emel T2 have great teas don’t they? An Indian grandma (whose grandchild I was visiting at home) once made me a real chai tea with the milk and spices in a saucepan on the stove and the best chai mix I could find to try to replicate it was from T2.
I’ve made a Christmas cake that has it’s origins in the West Indies. The dried fruit, spices and alcohol of which there is plenty, is heated and simmered for 15 minutes, then cooled, put in a jar and left in the fridge for a week. It is then mixed with eggs, sugar, butter and flour. It is really good, and only a small slice is possible so it lasts a long time π
I love proper chai, and drank a lot of it when I was in India. They use tinned milk so it tastes very different than when fresh milk is used.

Just been discussing food plans with my eldest son and was surprised and pleased to find that a jacket potato comes out as 93kcal per 100g cooked (obviously no anointing the skin with oil). I found a medium sized potato and it weighed about 200g. Apparently it will lose about 25% of its mass through evaporation so that potato represents no more than 150kcals. If I made up 100kcals with my favourite toppings that would be a pretty good fasting day dinner! Hoo-flipping-ray! Roll on Monday, my last fast day before going to my daughter’s.

P.S. cooking the spud, cooling it and reheating reduces the calories even further!
Well done Lizzy you skinny minx you π You must be feeling over the moon pal.
Amazon that cake taste too good to have it as a temptation in my house .
I used to make clootie dumpling at Christmas but don’t do it now .Fruit pudding tied up and cooked in a square of cotton
This was to be a fasting day for me but I haven’t been out for a week and needed groceries so ended up buying my favourite ice cream ” skinny cow” YES that’s what it’s called π . So tomorrow will be a FD . This is the great thing about 5.2 we can do it to suite what the day brings .
I am frozen now π . I wonder if it could have anything to do with ice cream …Wink! Wink π
Wee xx
Hi Wee.
Have your ice cream and enjoy it, you can fast tomorrow.
Christmas is going to be a real test, but I’m determined not to get carried away. I’ll have whatever I fancy but in small helpings, and I’m planning on continuing with 5:2, and then back to 3:4 after the New Year.
I’ve spoken to a friend of mine who always buys me chocolates or truffles, and asked her not to buy me anything edible. I’m not having any sweets or chocolate, and just one pack of roasted salted nuts which I love. I’ve made mini Christmas puddings for gifts and I’ll keep one for me.
I love mince pies and I’ll do what I usually do, which is make some and freeze them raw, which means if I want one I’ll have to wait 30 minutes for it!
I usually buy sausages, bacon, black pudding etc and have a huge breakfast, but that won’t be happening either. I’ll have eggs and smoked salmon instead.
I’ll not be cutting out my G&Ts or wine though, but I’ll try to drink less…
don’t hold your breath
Hi/bye Jojo.
That is the problem, someone is always fasting. I have to say, it doesn’t usually bother me I even watch cookery programmes, but there are days when I can’t and don’t want to even think about food.
The dance performance sounds interesting.
Some of my neighbours have put their Christmas decorations up already, so there are some enthusiasts about.
Amazon I WAS planning to have a day off at Christmas . We go over to Ross and take Dad and Ross goes all out with fun etc . I cook the meat and take the veg too and he supplies the ice cream ,crackers, funny hats etc .
I will not have potatoes but will have meat and veg and maybe a chrunchie bar and Of course my Ice cream . Then I will do AFD the next few days and I should be fine .
Even though we are Scottish .We do not celebrate new Year . Hubby has a can for the bells (12 midnight) we watch a wee bit TV then head of to bed about 1 AM so New year isn’t a problem for me eating wise .
I meant to say though that I seem to do better with ADF than BTB . I can’t explain why but it seems to be best for me .

Just wanted to share something really nice ( meant a lot to me).
Mam was a beautiful knitter she taught me to do fair Isle , Fishermens knit) and lots of different patterns . A couple of years before she was diagnosed with Alzheimers she knitted herself a beautiful Jacket
. It is in an Emerald green heavy knit with Reveres and double breasted with lovely buttons . It has been upstairs now for over 5 years .
Today I tried it on and it fitted me . It might sound daft but I felt I had my Mams arms around me . I am going to wear it on Christmas Day . it would have been her 96 birthday on Christmas day
She always worried about my weight and will be so proud that I can wear it π
XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Wee xx
They both work for me but I do like to have 2 days in a row without fasting so 2 B2Bs during the week is the best option at the moment, and I’m losing 2lbs per week.
I’m not sure where I’ll be on Christmas Day, but I’ll definitely be eating roast potatoes and roast parsnips, maybe just one of each π
Wee that is wonderful. My Mum taught me to knit when I was very small. I have a green Aran style jacket with a collar that she knitted for herself probably 30 years ago as she had MS and eventually was unable to knit or sew. It has always been far too small for me but it fits me now. I know exactly how you feel
Good morning fellow fasters … a cold, wet, but not miserable, day today at the moment (6am)
Wee and Amazon that’s such a lovely result for you both that you can both wear something that your mothers made several years ago and feel their love coming through, that’s such a heart warming thought.
Okay, time to try some of the smilies π other than the “regular” ones that is:
just trying them out π … edited to add trying again as first ones didn’t work properly. Third time lucky? Nope, trying again … obviously I’m doing something wrong but I’ll figure it out (hopefully)
Morning fast trackers dull dreary and misty rain this morning so mini tramp and hand weights this morning I have to change my schedule this week to a 4-3 but M-T-W as our 18 yo son has his year 12 graduation dinner Thursday evening in the town hall rather posh and formal (He is the 1st to have completed school) and I have a colleagues retirement dinner on at Regency Park Friday night so it is a full week. What a great flexible WOL this is so user friendly.Nama 7.4kg in 9 weeks is fantastic and once you have successfully done a 4-3 its rather liberating to tick that off the to do list.Nicky i don’t believe you for a second a slug π― As crazy as this will read on the odd occasion after the 20th trip to the loo overnight π laying in bed I have thought I can feel my body rendering fat out rather like you would cooking a duck breast in a fry pan I watch a lot of lifestyle food on paytv .We are being shown up with our overseas friends with this emoticon business hey and how !!!So good work Aussie O more bling the better Amazon Weemam what beautiful stories our parents are so important and to hear a tune or a phrase and say straight away dad loved that song or Mum always said that hey..My father when ever we had fish and chips which was very rare indeed he would puff the chest out and always say hey gee wonder what the poor people are doing …Emel persistence is the key here and success is simply rate over time thanks fast friends.
Peace
RT
Amazon when I read AO’s post I went back and looked at yours . Isn’t it brilliant that we both now can wear something our Mams made . I am so glad a scrolled back pal .
RT my Dad is almost 97 pal and has Alzheimers . When we take him out for a meal he studies the menue for ages then he ALWAYS says ” Fish and chips please” . So I know what you mean about your Dad . My Dads parents had a fish and chip shop many years ago so maybe the fish and chips comforts him in some way . We will never know . As long as he is happy it doesn’t really matter pal .

Hi Amazon,
I’d take your look (looks like a bomb has dropped) over mine (looks like there’s been a mouse in the cupboard under the sink). Oh yes, all the spare sponges and clothes, dusters, any cardboard packaging, spare kitchen roll, bin bags…..shredded or, in the case of a roll of bags, nibbled which results in a hole in each one….
Hi Jojo.
A bit odd that no-one else was taking the opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping before the madness begins. Well done for getting started.
This time last year I was preparing to go to Australia for Christmas and I bought all my presents early and they were wrapped and labelled before 1st December. This year I’ve not even begun to think about what I am going to buy so there might be a bit of a panic after my holiday.
New jeans, how exciting!
I’ve just taken everything from the shelf in the wardrobe as I couldn’t find something. I found a grey hooded sweatshirt that I bought at Queens tennis tournament in 2011 that was too small when I got it home. I need to wear it this winter as it is already a bit big.
I also found a pink lightweight fleece and the top I was looking for, both of which fit.
I’ve not even looked in the back of the other cupboard where I have clothes hanging. I’ve no idea what I’ll find, and I guess I should look as I don’t want to miss the chance to wear something before it gets too big.
I love it!
La la la, can’t hear anyone talking about Christmas….Until December….
I WILL celebrate, but I reserve the right to be bar humbug until December. It’s mid November. Yep, start shopping, good to be organized. But decorations already? And ramping up of advertising? It’s just all too commercial and materialistic for me (and no, I’m not religious). So I’ll excuse myself from Christmas discussions until at least December if you don’t mind…!
Lizzy, congratulations on reachng 10 stone. That was my goal (based on that having been my previous and happy, lowest adult weight). Another pound though and you’ll be 9 stone something…! And that’s officially skinny (in my book anyway)!
Re: shrinking breasts. My chest was a respectable 36C+ but is now an unremarkable 34B (:-). Is that a problem? Absolutely not! I go running, so great to have less to giggle around and hurt. And hey, less to go south as I age!
Losing cup size has given me pause for thought though. And it seems to me this is a man thing. None of my female friends has said I shouldn’t lose any more weight because my breasts (or bum) are now too small…!
Do I feel any less feminine now that I can readily buy a bra that fits (or actually go without a bra without risking serious discomfort), or now that I can comfortably run for the bus or the train without having to support my breasts with hands/ crossed arms? My breasts might be smaller now, but you wouldn’t mistake me for a man! And I love the fact that they don’t weigh enough now to hurt my back or gouge bra strap grooves in my shoulders.
Interesting that excess body fat in some places is more desirable than in others!
At the end of the day I have lost weight for me and no one else. OH hasn’t commented to express an opinion, partly I suspect because he doesn’t have a mammary fixation but also because he knows I wouldn’t give a flying f**k for his preferences for what my body should look like!
Sorry, rant over… π
Hi everyone
I’m sitting up in bed listening to the rain pouring down on our metal roof (Aussies would appreciate the joy of that). Nothing better on a Sunday morning!
Was busy getting involved in Christmas shopping (yes, Jojo, I too enjoy doing it before the crowds) and watching my granddaughter at her ballet concert rehearsal. Just lovely. Consequently, I have had little time to read all your wonderful posts. I am amazed by the variety of smilies. Top marks to Amazon’s Mexican wave!!
I just love how much I am learning about other Anglo cultures through this thread. I Googled ‘clootie dumpling’, Wee, and discovered it is very similar to what I make as Christmas pudding, except there is no milk in mine. Every year for most of my married life I have made the pudding early and hung it to season. One year it went mouldy (remember it is hot and humid here in Nov/Dec). I was heartbroken and don’t do it any more. I love doing all the preparations myself. You’ve inspired me to do it again this year.
When I did French classes about 6 years ago I made a Buche Noel and took in kir and champagne to make Kir Royales for everyone for our last lesson of the year. It was quite a lesson and the teacher (a dear French professor) was in tears.
Making Vietnamese spring rolls with duck, shallots, lettuce, cucumber and hoy sin sauce for lunch today.
Enjoy the cooler weather Aussies. P
