  • Thanks for that Herm . They look really good . I bought a top similar to them a few years ago . I must look for it . I am sure it still has the tag on it as it never fitted . I will have a wee look for it later 🙂

    Wee xx

Thanks for the link hermaj, some of them would definitely be OK as outerwear.

    Hi Hermajtomomi,
In reply, just post one message to say where you are to be found. If they want to speak to you they will read that thread. When I left the other thread many friends joined me, not leaving the old thread but posting on both. Personally I cannot cope with more than one thread plus I am really happy with the upbeat people on here.

I had to had three injections in my gums at the dentists so I am still a bit numb. Don’t think I will risk eating until after badminton tonight.

Hope everyone had a sucessful day. I have been drinking ‘honey and camomile tea which I prefer to stimulant teas such as peppermint.

I felt the cold when I was starving all day but if you spread the 500 cals over three meals you don’t have any died effects. Try it. It will not effect your weightloss. If you still want longer fast periods delay breakfast and eat tea at 5 pm. Good Luck

I agree with JoJo , as it was my experience also. I did get cold, and perhaps was in denial of it. However , I bored from the people’s of Peru mountains and plains to intake hot spices in large amounts, mainly out of curiosity . I’ve only ever eat two meals, but when I started with a breakfast time Intake of supplements with a few dried fruits, prunes , cherries blueberries and a fiber tablet. I have no notes of feeling cold on those days or remember being cold on those days where I had three intake times.

I don’t read the loaca page because I’m not a lady.I bet I’m missing out on lots. However the theme of this tread to go to two pounds a week . Is my cup of tea!
I guess I’m kinda moody today. I feel as if I no longer need to tweak at my weight loss plan. Just the doing parts now. :). I usually have a bite to eat when I’m this tired, but my math says I’m at a 1,022 calories for theses hours. So I’ll go to bed hungry. Was a long day. So tired even my neighbor asked me if I needed help getting into the house. Not my goal 🙁 live and learn to change and grow.

Thanks Hermaj, I just didn’t want you to think you were on your own.

Thanks for the mention of the M & S thermals – I will definitely have a look – also at LBDs! There’s a fantastic store only 15 minutes from here, and I’ve already promised myself a trip. At the moment I am in Sainsbury’s thermal vest AND leggings under my (now slightly too large) jeans and jumper, but thawing out nicely with a large scotch after a lovely walk – we had miles of deserted beach all to ourselves. Our house is in Pembrey, which is about 6 miles west of Llanelli. Unfortunately it would be a good hour and a half drive from the FoD, so may be a bit far for a day trip. We are apparently in for a sudden rise in temperature at the weekend, so I hope you have a really lovely break. If you did fancy putting a face to a pseudonym, there is a really nice cafe between where we live and where you are going to be staying, so could meet up for a coffee?
I hope you get the translating job finished in good time.

The buttered toast and Marmite were fab – so is the scotch, but I must be sensible tomorrow.

Weemam – well done on the size 14 trousers! You must feel wonderful after dropping all those sizes. Hope your husband is well again tomorrow to enjoy your anniversary. Congratulations! And as for your son being younger than the years you have been married – that’s quite a novelty these days! Look out for that LBD – it’s guaranteed to make you feel great.

Amazon and Bayleaf – I’ve always been a bit of a hothouse flower and it is often a bone of contention between me and OH, as he rarely feels the cold, but even he has complained lately and I’m sure it’s because he is 2 st lighter. Amazon, I’ve got a drawer of once-too-small clothes which I am gradually getting back into. Isn’t it a fantastic feeling? I bought a lovely Jaeger cashmere jumper on EBay a couple of years ago, having reached one of those times when I had lost a fair bit of weight, but as always used to happen, I only wore it about twice before I started to pile it on again. If looks good again now, and I am determined that I will be able to wear it all winter!

Have a lovely evening all in the UK and a good morning to everyone else!

    Smiffy x

    Hi jojo,

Thanks for your helpful suggestion. I was already thinking along those lines. If I remember rightly I did something like that at the time to ensure that some of the good buddies knew where I could be found. I’m happy to say it worked and they are all on this thread.

Hope the numbness eases off soon. You’re very brave to go to badminton, especially if the weather down your way is anything like it is here – very wet and nasty.

About keeping warm on fast days. Most of last winter we relied a lot on homemade soups especially at lunchtime on both fast and non-fast days. They can be warming and filling for often less than 100 cal a throw and possibly including some zero noodles. You’ve probably got some good recipes of your own which will fit a veggie/vegan WOE very well.

    Hi all
Up here in the frozen north, M&S heat generating thermals (full set) are worn from October to April! Or at least they are by softies such as myself 😀 On the winter club scene in Newcastle upon Tyne the young ladies wear dresses my dad would describe as, “That’s not a skirt! It’s a pelmet!!!” Shoestring straps are the norm and coats are nothing but an encumbrance best left at home! I only know this from observation rather than personal experience 🙂

I’ve fasted today and just had a very satisfying dinner of one 400g tin of plum tomatoes on two slices of Hovis Nimble. 200kcals the lot!!!! I ate the tomato juice with a spoon like soup and then had my main course. Why haven’t I discovered this FD meal before? I’ve always loved tinned tommies on toast and the alliteration is rewarding too! 😀 I’ve got enough calories left for a slice of toast at bedtime. Yesss!!! I didn’t think I’d get through it today but what a result! Yay!

    Smiffy,
I have a box full of hand knitted (by me) designer knitwear that I grew out of some time ago and am determined to be able to wear it all again. There is also a really nice leather jacket hanging in the wardrobe that I bought in Rome several years ago and have only worn a few times. I bought it tight as I was going to slim into it, I’m sure you know the story.
I’ll be wearing it soon 🙂

Buttered toast sounds good, but I’m a Vegemite girl. The Scotch sounds even better. Have you tried Welsh whisky?
    http://www.welsh-whisky.co.uk/
I spent a week with my Australian friend in a cottage in Llanwyrtd Wells a couple of years ago and she wanted to go to the distillery, so we visited on our way home. We did a tour, sampled the goods, and bought some whisky. It is excellent.

weemam, Amazon and Smiffy, glad you like the M&S thermals. I’ve got a drawer-full, not only black but ivory, red and a rather nice bluey-green.

The translation is done and dusted, Smiffy. It was fairly typical of the sort of stuff I do on a regular basis but, in common with all my arts and media colleagues, I still get really annoyed with some of these arty-farty types from various parts of Europe. Why say it in two words when I can say it in 25, they ask themselves. And just for a laugh, let’s chuck in some long, convoluted sentences.

You are right, Llanelli is a bit far from Cinderford. But wouldn’t it be great if one of these days, you, I and as many of our cyber-buddies who could make it could meet up at some mutually convenient spot. I seem to remember that others have thought about it too. Something to consider for next spring or summer. ladies?

Haha Amazon – I’ve got a very little worn leather jacket too! Mine’s not as posh as yours – M & S from about 12 years ago – but fairly classic in style and hopefully I will wear it again.

Hermaj – that would be great. I’d love a day or two in London. I’m about the only person who has never been on the Eye! It may be too far for some of our Northern pals though, so we may have to re-think. What about it, you ladies up there? X

    Hermaj,

I’m in my M&S thermals already! And I’m with you on the thermal legs – I find them itchy also.

Oh yes, I’m a wintry sex goddess in thermals and hiking socks….! Or is that just in my dreams 🙂

Smiffy – I’d really like to meet up and I’d be happy to travel to London or somewhere in the middle if that suited others better. The Scottish contingent have a huge distance to cover (comparatively speaking, our Aussie friends will laugh!)

    Hi all

Loved your posts about LBD (go Weemam!) and thermals. I weighed this morning, and drum roll, I am now 59.5 kg. shameless boast 😆 and also have reached the magical 0.5 waist to height ratio. Wee hoo!

We are having a seasonal return to early Spring weather, rain and a top of 13 C. Very good for the garden and new veges. However, I feel the cold more this year than ever before. Like Amazon, I think it’s the lost insulation 🙂 I prefer that term to the F word. We are lucky in that it will be back to 24 C by Sunday.

Thanks for your support, and Samm, special thanks for green tea advice. Cheers, Bay 🙂

Great Lizzie – maybe Birmingham or Manchester might be better.
Wow Bay that’s a fantastic number – you have every right to boast! I think we’re all more susceptible to the cold now! Thank goodness for thermals, though we are also due for a mini heat wave later this week x

    Hi Smiffy

Thanks for your support. Also way to go in your Mother’s LBD and wowing them! 🙂

    Cheers, Bay

    Good evening fast trackers,
I agree with SAMM and others that spicy soup and spicy dinner really helps with body temperature control. I don’t usually feel the cold, probably cos I don’t sit still long enough and I have hot drinks every hour. Also I live in one of the warmest bits of the UK, micro climate here. But it is a bugger in November and often Feb. for some reason we seem to get very mild January’s.

I am feeling very skinny tonight and my belt needs another notch so I suspect the scales will reflect that tomorrow, I always know before the scales. My badminton game was slightly better tonight.

I have really got my mojo back, I guess I needed that holiday, I am raring to go at the moment. The only thing I need now is a diet buddy that likes exercise. I think I may put an advert in the local paper. What shall I say? Come on you literary geeks help me out! I don’t want it to sound like I am needy, just enthusiastic.

Just indulging in a milky coffee before bed.

I am really happy to meet in London and would even be prepared to visit Glasgow as that would be new territory for me. Isn’t there an Art Deco Exibit there, love to see that, Mackintosh ?
Free from mid November if you are serious. We may need to get in touch to swap photos and mobile numbers though, otherwise could be tricky. How would we do this securely ? Facebook personal message system? I think there is a fasting page we could all sign on to, I don’t really use Facebook but I think you can set up private membership.

Having traced all my Irish relatives I could visit them all around the globe, they certainly get around and breed like rabbits. Did I tell you my Dad’s family came from Germany via America for a generation. I am totally swamped in data now, I have a feeling my estimate of one year will be exceeded on this project. Still working on my English line from my mother, Bach to 1700’s, no interlopers yet but I am sure it is just a matter of time. Weemam, it would be very funny if they were Scots, since I have only found 1 so far who married into the line. The only Welsh ones married in too but I now have second cousins born there.

Time for bed, goodnight my lovely cyber buddies, sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite. Good morning to my transatlantic cousins, enjoy the sunshine.

    Jojo xxx

I want to hear some more success stories, 2 lb per week remember!

Hi Nicky you champion thankyou i have one now on its way from the e-bay @ $15.95 a bargain 🙂 do you pre cook these before adding to a sauce or the heat in the sauce does the trick?
Aussie well i left sunny SA on Sunday i thought a short sleeve shirt and peak cap was the GO…But i think i was a little bit ambitious as I am the foothills of the Grampians and sure missing my beany and hoodie not a good look but warm and cosy..:)
May the Force be with us All
    Peace
    RT

Well done Bay . What a feeling that must have been .

Isn’t this WOL just brilliant :).

After the BTB the last couple of days I ended up with today being another fast ( not intentional ) Hubby not coughing as much tonight but we have decided to stay in tomorrow just in case . but I feel great .

I found the thermal top and it is M&S it fits but it is almost see through so I would need something over it .

We have a designer outlet village a few miles from us and I got it in the M&S shop a couple of years ago in their SALE . It was reduced from £15 down to £2.99 . Some bargain :).

..You know I have been feeling the cold more lately too and Jokingly said it was because I had lost some insulation but didn’t realize that’s what it really was .. Easier to put on another layer then Take the fat off . xx

RT I am in Central Scotland pal

Jojo you are doing so well pal . The McIntosh building in Glasgow had a really bad fire a few weeks ago and they are hoping to save some of it .

    Wee xx

Hi Jojo and other Fastrackers who want to meet up.

Just send an email to JJ who runs the website, and ask him to send your email to another person on the thread. It is entirely up to them whether or not they agree to respond. Or whether they wish to maintain their privacy.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

Thanks, Weemam. It is a fantastic WOL. 😆

    Good morning fast-tracking mates.

Smiffy and Wee, LBD and leather jacket – ah yes, I have them languishing somewhere, unloved but not forever if I stick with this WOL.

Bay well done – this is the place for shameless boasts!

Lizzy, such an easy meal, thanks for the tip.

Jojo, what a hero still going to badminton with a numb jaw. Sorry the paying bit was painful. Am always appalled at the cost of even a checkup – my ‘wince level’ hasn’t kept up with the cost of living obviously.

Unfortunately blew yesterday’s FD into just over 600C. Planned, as you know, pasta last night. When I got home from work, OH had been tidying the fridge (love him for his excellent housekeeping, doing the jobs I hate) and found a piece of leftover roast beef from a few days ago and suggested that with greens. Fine thinks I, prepare greens and sliced the beef, absentmindedly eating a couple of slices. That plus what was on my plate amounted to about 150g. Not bad I thought but this morning did the calculations!!!

Another (better) FD today with last night’s planned meal to come. Should average out to <500C for each day. Will also do mini-FD tomorrow with a small tin of tuna just before weights so I don’t run out of steam.

Wee, hope your OH is better to enjoy your 53rd today/tomorrow. Our anniversary is also the 14th but December. We married in the morning of an extremely hot day about 105F but cool change arrived just before sitting down to reception lunch. My and my bridesmaids’ dresses of a lovely light cotton voile as I had expected it might be hot. The dresses were lined so we didn’t have to bother with slips. Not much air-conditioning around in those days.

RT I just chuck them into the sauce to simmer for a minute or two ‘al dente’.

Another cold day here. Dug out thermals because also feel the cold more since I lost some insulation 😉

    Happy Tuesday all.

Thanks Bayleaf. Perhaps it would be easier if we just all wore pink carnations!

Who mentioned tinned tomatoes on toast? I love them but had forgotten about them. Not many calories and juicy so no need for butter. Will definitely have some.

Amazon, thanks for the tip about Welsh whisky and the link – I didn’t know about it but will track it down. A trip to the distillery sounds a great day out!

Hi Nicky – what determination you have. My fast day turned into a bit of a disaster but hopefully will be more focused tomorrow. Have a good day.

    Smiffy x

    Hi All,
Failed the fast day yesterday (1500 at least) so its today. Went for a 40 minute run on the treadmill. had 2 coffees and a lime juice. Weighed myself and it looks good but seems to have slowed down a lot. Going to have a small dinner and that should see me through for today.

Got my flu shot, and slept so much , just a simple fish feed day.

About being cold, just a quick mention, a guess really. If you’re feeling cold when sitting or laying down in particular. I’m reminded of how cold I used get when camping outside. In a conversation with soldier about it he said to shower or at least get into laundered clothes that were dry and not sweaty. As the moisture can make us sensitive to cold temps.
But biggest issue was not getting the thermic exchange from eating. In stomach when the acids react with foods the reactions create heat. Less intakes means less reactions. I’m going out on limb to say also that longer we go without eating the colder we get, not a lot mind you, but we also start to get cold and sleepy at the same time. Best way to point to it is feeling sleepy after lunch. It’s not the lunch food made us sleepy, it just our natural daily rhythm To get empty , start to feel abit cold.

But having moist cclothes makes us more sensitive to it. Make sense?

So what I’ve seen in my experience . Is some employees , not at the warehouse , but at the mental facility on third shift would bundle up in heavy clothes . For the first two hours they were bust busy busy. Then we would have to stay alert while the children slept. Many of the staff that I noticed obviously were busy enough to sweat, then they would just for another 4 hours without moving , at all at their designated spot. Would get very cold. So cold they would wear winter coats all year long, and complain it was too cold even though the children never complained , nor did they bundle themselves up in their beds.

I would tell them about sweaty clothes, and about eating , I wish I could say they took my advice and tell you what happened, but they all All just kept on bundling up , sweating in their clothes and chillin. 🙁

I know there is other factors at play for fasting , and to adress it with making it too complicated. It’s an issue with protien intake, and the way calcium and protein intereact. If the body doesn’t get calcium for diet , it gets it from other resources witting the body. There is less calcium to use to help regulate bod temperature except for vital organs, so the arms and legs get colder. Hence , if also sweaty , and not well Insulated from airflow. We cane be sensitive to the temperature differences.

    Hi Smiffy
    Love your LBD story.
Thanks, got the last piece of LOACA jigsaw.
    Enough said.
    Hurray for optimistic October.
    KiwiWiwi

Smiffy I too forgot to post about the LBD, you must have looked fantastic in it … so glad for you 😀

I must admit cold and I do not do well together. Even today (at max if it got there of 17) freezing cold for me … I had thick leggings, socks, sneakers, a skivvy and woollen overdress on and STILL freezing. I must admit though that 17 in Europe is or seems warmer than here … today was again an icy/damp/wet cold which is horrible.

I also admit that in our winter I’m usually wearing thermals or double layers of pants, triple of tops and often socks along with coat, scarf etc (and special fingerless gloves which turn into mittens when needed – angora mix wool).

I’ll comment shortly about the next page 🙂 as otherwise I’ll get mixed up again.

Oh, yes, was a FD for me today … so far (and it’s just gone 4:30pm) 20 cals consumed 😀 and not really hungry but I can see I’ll want to eat before too much longer (maybe another 1.5 to 2 hours).

Wee, fantastic re size 14’s … go you 😀

Good going Lizzypop with your FD 😀

Hermaj you must be great at translations which is why you get the work … myself I use Google Translate for my Dutch rellies-in-law for sending & when I receive back 😆 and we know how good that is, heh heh, but I must admit it is closer than some other online translators I’ve tried.

Yes Lizzy I had a quiet chucke re distances but as we know it’s all comparative 😀 … here we drive from Adelaide over to Melbourne – 8 plus hours, or Sydney – 15+ hours, Brisbane – 2 days (have to stop overnight with only 2 drivers) – I’ve driven all of these with dog trailer in tow (hence the longer drive times).

Bay that’s an AWESOME weight … congratulations!!!!

Schouke hope you completed your FD today … try drinking more water, or hot (no milk) drink rather than eating on your FD’s. I am now at the point where I basically don’t eat until the evening meal (if I have breakfast then I feel hungrier all day). Each of us has had to find what works for us and it may be for you that you need to work out 3 small meals, someone else 2 slightly larger meals or like myself one meal, again, no more than 4-500 cal’s and less when I can manage it. It did take me a couple of weeks to get it down to 500 cals and now it’s easy (for me) to use even less most times.

    Hi FTs
I too slipped up yesterday. A fast day ended in an unexpected pub meal, but I chose the fish and salad. Then had seafood gnocchi for lunch today after farewelling my daughter on a long overseas trip. I’m going to miss my darling girl. 🙁
    Purple

    Hi AussieOma
Thanks. It’s freezing here today, at 9C with a wild and icy wind blowing. I’m glad that I’m not fasting. I’ve had some dark chocolate and almonds for a snack. I had a large bowl of vegetable soup with a little Parmesan for lunch.

    Hi Purple,
We are having your Salmon with chili for dinner tonight. Just the thing on a cold night. Sorry to hear about your daughter leaving on a long overseas trip. You will miss her. 🙁

Cheers to all FTers, Bay 🙂

I will Bay. Bought a mix of seafood, pancetta, duck to make some sort of extravagant dish on this cold night…not a fast night…probably use miracle noodles in it anyway.
Can’t believe how changeable the weather is..Swimming the other day. 🙁 P

    Morning all.
The weather here is very changeable too. It is getting warmer again with a forecast of 21C at the weekend! Still damp and grey though.
I’ve had no lights for a couple of weeks due to a leak when the roof was being replaced and the electrician is here fixing the problem. I’ve taken advantage of the situation to have new lights fitted in the kitchen and bathroom 🙂

I didn’t get a chance to weigh myself this morning so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I’m hoping for another 1lb loss to keep up the 2lbs per week.

Happy Anniversary Weemam, I hope Mr W is feeling better today.

Hugs Purple it’s never easy to see one of your children leave for a long time.

Total of 458 cals for today 🙂 so on track. Another FD on Thursday.

Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a wonderful day.

Wee I hope your OH is feeling better and you’re at least 1 pound lighter this morning 😀

    Good morning Fast trackers,
As expected I have lost another pound, for some reason, I cannot explain it I am finding ADF easy at the moment. I do 600,1200 cals alternately. I think the reason is down to less socialising than normal and no treats in the house, even nuts and dried fruit have gone. Treats now are fruit or breadsticks. My hourly hot drink is camomile and honey tea or hot water and lemon. I have a proper tea (PG) at breakfast and if I want it now a milky coffee before bed, helps me sleep well.

My mum would laugh at me now, she always started the day with hot water and lemon and ended with cocoa. What goes around comes around. Maybe it’s just habits that comfort us that restore peace to our lives.

It has given me such pleasure looking at all the old photos this week, she was a real beauty, with a sunny nature to match. She had patience that I could never match, I think that is why she had such an aura of calm. I have an aura of a busy bee, I must learn to slow down.

Feed day today, sore gums from injections, ulcers coming I suspect, but should be ok for choir rehearsal. I have just found out about a rock choir so I am definately joining that, can’t wait, hope it doesn’t clash with mine.

May do some cooking today, strong cheese scones I think served with cream cheese filler, yum, yum. I will eat two and deliver the rest to my daughter.

I also have the urge to shop but I am trying to resist it, honestly though my trousers are falling off. Leggings just don’t do the job in winter do they, even the woolly ones. Maybe I will just get one pair in size 16 and buy a nice new cardigan.

Missed my walk today as I overslept, another late night working on the family tree. I must have an obsessive nature food, sewing, reading they all dominate my life. At least the food is under control.

Glad everyone is working at it even though some are having hiccups. Don’t worry it’s taken me a year to get to this control point, you will get there, just take one day at a time and focus just on the weekly goal, forget long term.

Off to do the dog walk, two hours today, in the mist and rain, good thinking time.

    Jojo

Just read about your waist/height ratio, Bay. Well done mate. That really is the ultimate goal. I felt I had really achieved when I reached it. My daughter gave me back an old belt when she was sorting to go away…I haven’t worn it in years. ..it fits on the smallest hole! P 🙂
PS pouring rain here…my plants will be pleased.

I’ve taken heed of tips and had coffee first thing and am now drinking green tea like there is no tomorrow. I’m fasting today and have just had some porage in order to prevent getting cold. I have a 350 calorie portion of squid stew for dinner, so enough calories left for some milk in my tea. I am now feeling warm and full and I hope it stays that way 🙂

    Have a good day/evening everyone.

    Hi everyone,

Several replies coming up, working backwards which is easier. But first a wee boast, not about me but about Him Indoors, who learned yesterday that he has now offically qualified as Shibashi instructor. What’s Shibashi? I hear you ask. It’s a gentle form of martial art. The following link may help:

    http://www.shibashicanada.com/en/shibashi

Of course it pales into insignificance compared with your great 4th-dan achievement, Lizzie. I was intrigued and rather moved by your account of how you got into judo, protecting your small son and eventually finding you had a life-changing talent.

jo-jo, I like the idea of a rock choir. I immediately thought of some of the tracks by Queen, although any choral passages were probably the late great Freddy multi-tracking. It could be a lot of fun. Hope it doesn’t clash with your other choir.

I’ve just remembered you mentioned Glasgow. You are right, lots of lovely Mackintosh architecture and design. weemam (hi, wee 🙂 )has already mentioned the School of Art where they had the fire. Fortunately no one was injured and they managed to save quite a bit of the building, but heartbreakingly the wonderful library was wrecked. There are a lot of other Mackintosh places in and around the city. My favourite is the faithful reconstruction of his home in Glasgow in the Hunterian Gallery right next to the uni. The main room is so beautiful I usually end up blubbing like a baby as soon as I walk in. Some forms of art do that to me. Another makes-me-blub example is the South African kids’ choir that you sent the youtube link for. BTW Congratulations on the loss of another pound.

Purple, our paths haven’t crossed much lately. Hope all is well with you, apart from the sadness at not seeing your daughter for a while. At least nowadays it’s fairly easy to keep in touch. Would she be heading for Europe, by any chance? Bay (hi Bay 🙂 ) just mentioned your lovely chili fish recipe. I’ve been seriously thinking of doing it again very soon. Your recipe and LUVTCOOK’s light moussaka have become fast-day regulars.

Smiffy, immediately after we exchanged posts it occurred to me that if enough people were interested in meeting up we should go for a venue somewhere in the middle of the UK where friends from the north of England, Wales and Scotland could get to with relative ease. I would add York and Liverpool to the places already suggested. Wouldn’t it be great if some of our Aussie/USA friends happened to be passing through? A tall order, but you never know.

Aussie Oma, thank you for your kind words re my day job. It’s one of the few things I’m any good at and it’s the sort of skill that tends to increase with age. More miles on the clock = more facility with language, more general knowledge, the list goes on. I picture you writing to your Dutch rellies with Google Translator, I’m sure they appreciate the effort you put in.
Funny story, the colleague and friend who supplies me with most of my work tells how, as a teenager, she spent a holiday with a French family. Being a polite young lady, she wrote them a thank you note. As French speakers out there probably know, the noun ‘baiser’means a kiss – perfectly harmless. The verb ‘baiser’ means to f*** and is considered as rude as the English equivalent. Sadly, my mate chose the wrong one. She meant to say ‘big kisses for everyone’. What she wrote translated as ‘I f*** you all’.

SAMM, a lady you ain’t, but as my dad would have said you are a gentleman and a scholar. Fair enough that you don’t visit the LOACA thread, but as someone so interested and informed about food and cookery, you might like to stroll by the LOACA recipe thread, if you haven’t done so already.

Hope I’ve answered everyone. Just remembered. I’m glad some of you (Amazon? Happy?)already know about M&S’s lovely Heatgen thermals while others are willing to give them a try.

Now I’d better get back to work.

Thanks, Purple, hope your meal was spicy and enjoyable. Our chili fish was to die for. 🙂

Hi Hermaj, Wee, Nicky, AO, Samm, Happy, Smiffy, Wiwi, Lizzy and Jojo. I’m off to bed now. Snuggled under the doona for the night. The wind is howling round the gables. 😆

Amazon, that will be me tomorrow. Coffee followed by eggs, then green tea all day. Am cooking for friends and relatives who will arrive around lunchtime.

Happy day, FT ers. Bay 🙂

Hi Hermaj, now York is a good idea for a meeting place. Great city.

Pick a time and place, get general agreement here, and everyone that turns up carries oh I don’t know, a skinny latte or a pipe cleaner? Then have some fun trying to work out who’s who!

Hi Bay, congratulations on the weight loss and shrinking waist.

Hi hermaj (finally it didn’t auto correct to Herman!)

Congrats to your OH for achieving his instructor qualification. I’m just booting up to take a look at the link you sent. All martial arts are brilliant for fitness, flexibility and stamina. The martial aspects of the gentler forms are just hidden. The sequenced movements are similar to the kata in shotokan karate (the style I practise). If you use your imagination while watching someone perform Tai Chi you can see the blocks, strikes and throws in it. Would your husband agree?

Hi jojo (auto corrects to jojoba!)

Heartfelt comiserations on your dental experiences! I treated myself to a slice of cheesecake on Sunday. I broke a back tooth on a hard seed in the fruit topping so had an unplanned visit to my dentist this morning. He is a very skilful practitioner so all is well. My face has just about thawed out…

Thanks for your good wishes Lizzy.

The man is out at the moment discussing a possible venue for classes. He currently helps out at a local authority one and has a regular ‘gig’ with a housing association, i.e. premises come with the territory. I’ve emailed him your interesting comment.

    Hi Happy,

York does seem like a good idea from a practical point of view. I agree it’s a beautiful city. If these plans really do get off the ground, where we go will be a democratic decision. I feel a bit guilty about saying England, Wales and Scotland. Are there any posters in Northern Ireland? We’d love to hear from you.

My OH is now home. He agrees with every word you say. 🙂

    That’s good hermaj/hismaj! I hoped I wasn’t talking drivel!

York meet up fine with me, shall we talk dates?
    Weekend would be great.
    Suggest 15 th Novemer weekend?

    Hi jojo,

Oh dear, I’m not around that weekend. I agree York is a great place to meet but maybe we need to consult some of the other ladies before setting a definite time and place.

In our efforts not to be ‘metrocentric’ we might inadvertently make life difficult for friends living far south e.g.in Hampshire, or anyone in the West Country.

Would it perhaps be a good idea to arrange something for the spring, when there’s less risk of ‘the wrong sort of leaves on the line’ which could screw up rail journeys, or of horrible road conditions that could affect those who would be driving there? It would also give us more time to organise a venue for our meeting. And unless it’s going to be on everybody’s fast day and we all starve together, it would be a good idea to book somewhere and something to eat.

I’ve been exchanging posts with cathyork on the ‘my 16-week countdown’ thread. I’m not 100% sure she lives in York, but her handle suggests she’s around there somewhere. a) She’s a nice lady who might like to come along and b) she may be able to make some helpful suggestions.

    Hey All,
I just discovered that there are Christmas markets at York st Nick and Harrogate on 29 th, 30 th Nov, how does that suit people

Sounds lovely but ill have to be with you in spirit. A bit hungrier today than usual.. glad its a FEED Day. 🙂

Well it is 3:30 am and I am wide awake due to the fact that I was so tired that I retired early. Normally I would get up and have a cuppa and a few biscuits but as that is no longer my WOL I turned to this thread. My fast Day was far more successful yesterday so almost at the end of my first week I feel a bit more comfortable. As it is a way of living I know there is much to be done in terms of mindset. But I am determined to give this an honest attempt. I am off to the drs on Friday re a blood test re insulin etc. I am a little worried about the results but it has kick started my determination to work towards a healthy lifestyle so for that I am grateful. I really need a few more hours sleep before a review tomorrow of my work performance so I best shut down iPad !
