  • RT I agree this IS the thread! I am delighted to have found such a positive group of supportive and interesting women – and Samm (who brings so much information and chuckles)
Wee Mam -congratulations on your upcoming anniversary, I love a bargain too. I have 5 star taste and a 3 star pocket πŸ˜‰
Like so many of you I also married young-just a month before turning 20. At the time it did not seem ‘young’ but now looking back it certainly was. However, 32 years later we’re very much together, still opposites still sparking off each other from time to time but in a way we’ve grown up together and have been blessed in many ways.
The travelling bug seems to be a common theme too, we have lots of the world still to see. I love planning trips (frustrated travel agent) and have enjoyed fly/frive trips to many parts of the States and Canada. So much so that we feel quite at home on that side of the pond and if we havent been for a while miss it. Our younger daughter is in Perth WA at the moment so we’re off there next which is very exciting.
Fast day went fine yesterday despite the great British Bake Off final lol.
Smiffy and Amazon I appreciate your kind words, I need to find a way of coping without turning to food. I could justify not continuing with this WOE at the moment but it wouldn’t help anyone. Unfortunately we are in for a difficult time but with support we’ll get though.
    Best wishes to all

Just popping by to congratulate everyone with birthdays, or who have an OH celebrating a birthday. And those with long, long marriages, like Purple, Nicky and wee.

I confess I stopped doing birthdays long ago. Mine occurs in early March, the bug season, and I’ve stopped counting the times I’ve actually been ill on my b’day. I totally forgot my 40th. I was on teaching practice and my mind was very much elsewhere, not to mention the fact that most of my physical energy and brain power were used up putting one foot in front of the other and stringing the odd coherent sentence together. The teachers among you will know the feeling.

As for marriage. I’ve had two. One of 16 years duration, which came a cropper after I went to uni as a mature student. I gather this is not unusual, particularly when the wife is the student and the husband is seriously miffed when he discovers the ‘little woman’ has a brain. I’m a relative newly-wed second time around, having only been married four years after ‘living in sin’ for 24.

    Hi Tartan Lass.
I have friends who live 30 minutes drive from the centre of Perth, and I was there in January. It is a great city, and I’m sure you’ll love it. Fremantle is great too. If you get to Fremantle go to the Kiosk for breakfast. It is opposite the old East Street jetty. They serve the best breakfast ever, and the full veggie is to die for!

I didn’t start proper travelling until I was 35. Before that it was package holidays only, but that was enough to make me realise that there is a lot to see out there. I can no longer do beach style holidays, and as a result of opting for more active holidays I’ve had some amazing experiences and adventures. Last year when in South Africa I went zip wiring through the forest which was terrifying but brilliant!

    Good morning all .

I love sitting here in the morning and going through all the posts (and there are loads) It is brilliant learning all about everyone and all of your travels .

All doing so well and all still positive . I just want to get the next pound down to my 2 stone :). LOVE this WOL.

Funny story to tell . yesterday I found a packet of sugar free sweets in the cupboard . I didn’t really need them as they have a laxative effect ( sorry if that is TMI) anyway had a few visits to the loo before bed BUT all night my tummy was grumbling really loud and waking me up ).

When OH went into the loo this morning I could hear him calling out” the toilet seat has split” I thought this was just so funny lol . He jokingly blamed me as I spent so much time in there last night AND I have IBS. he joked with me that if I had been my 4 stone heavier again that it was my fault.

sorry if you don’t find this as funny as we did . you maybe had to be there .

Off to the hairdresser in the afternoon and will come back feeling brilliant as they were all complimenting me on my weight loss when I went into the shop to get my appointment . They are 3 sisters called “snippy Sisters”

My tummy is still making very strange noises lol . I hope it settle down before I go πŸ™‚ .

Happy birthday/anniversary to anyone celebrating and keep up the good work all of you . I love reading all about all of you .

    Wee xx

    Wee

Know what you mean about the tummy rumbling bit. Mine has a mind of it’s own too.
Strangely, pleasantly strangely, I have found my IBS/Diverticultis seems to get on well with the 5.2. Doesn’t mean there are no strange noises, but who really cares.
You HAVE done well havn’t you. I’m envious πŸ™‚

Wicken thank you I am loving 5.2 or sometimes 4.3 . It had helped my IBS so much too :). Good luck to you but I am sure you won’t need it .

    Wee xx

“I’m a relative newly-wed second time around, having only been married four years after β€˜living in sin’ for 24.”

Sorry but I don’t see that as ‘living in sin’. To me there’s something of wisdom about it.

If it’s ‘the Church’ that makes you say ‘living in sin’… a friend of mine used to say to me “Those that play the game should call the rules”!

    <br><br>

    Hi wicken,

I should have put a smiley after ‘living in sin’. We married more for practical, financial reasons, to do with wills etc. Neither of us was sure that certain relatives, or former relatives, on both sides, could be trusted to behave honorably towards to a survivor who was not a legal spouse.

We had a very quiet wedding on a Tuesday afternoon at the local town hall with two friends, a former teaching colleague and her hubby, who had also recently married after being together for 15 or so years, as our witnesses.

We considered just asking two random people off the street to witness the ceremony. However, we live in what you might call an ‘interesting’ part of London and it would have been just our luck to pick on a big-time drug dealer or an illegal migrant and find ourselves, and our obliging witnesses, in all sorts of trouble.

One thing we did do that I would recommend to others. Instead of spending shed-loads of money on a reception and having scores of people, many of whom we didn’t know, getting legless at our expence, we asked each set of friends, relatives or colleagues, in couples, families or as individuals, to choose a favourite restaurant where we could treat them to dinner.

The largest group was six, including ourselves. We were able to have real conversations and enjoy each others’ company in peaceful surroundings. Apart from which it turned out to be far less expensive and much better value in every sense, than any kind of reception.

I would have been a rubbish bride anyway. I loathe parties – good friends and family know not even to ask me – and I would no doubt have been found in some side room, with a cup of tea and a good book.

What a lovely and very sensible idea!

We had our wedding reception in the local scout hut near the Church.
1 week before the wedding there had been floods and the Church was under water!
    It subsided just in time.
I had my sister’s daughter and the 2 daughters of a friend as bridesmaids. 5 or 6 years old.
My Mother nearly had a heart attack because they were bored with the reception, went outside and collected some conkers , brought them in and proceeded to ‘decorate’ the wedding cake!
We didn’t have an evening ‘do’ just 1 straight from the Church.
My Mother had organised it all herself, Father not in the picture.
    She was a wonderful Mother.
Thought my husband was the best thing since sliced bread and never allowed me to ‘tell him off!’
He was an absolute rock when Mother had a terrible accident and later when she died. He organised everything.
I still do ‘tell him off’ sometimes and am always reminded of her when I do πŸ™‚

    Evening all.

I’m feeling virtuous but tired this evening. I cleaned the flat, did some Callanetics, my usual workout, plus a route march to Kew Gardens. Four seasons in one day while I was there, sun, rain, hail and gusty winds, but still beautiful πŸ™‚
I was so tired I wanted to get the bus home but had left my bus pass at home so forced myself to walk πŸ˜†

Dinner in the oven, the other half of Tuesday’s stuffed peppers, plus a nice salad on the side. That’s not in the oven πŸ˜‰

    Hi All,
Goodness this Ebola outbreak is a worry. I don’t think this country needs to worry too much at the moment as we don’t have direct flights to the risk areas. It’s so sad when these contagious and very serious infections get out of control. It must be terrifying to live in an infection area when you have young children. You would not want to send them out of the house.
I have just arranged for both of my sisters to join me for a weekend to work on the family history. They know so much more of the verbal stories which bring everything to life.
My relative that was deported to Tasmania was a con man not a barn burners. He left a wife and four children to fend for themselves, nice chap, not! I had heard about this happening, they must have been desperate.
I had to cancel fast today as I ended up going out to lunch. So I will now be fasting tomorrow. I am looking to lose that last pound by Sunday then I can get on with shifting the next half stone. Heading into the 12 stoners by November.

    Hi Jojo.

It is great that the holiday excess baggage has come off so quickly, but I’m sure you’ve been working at it, so well done.
12 stone something sounds fab. I’ll be there soon, and if I continue to lose 2lb per week it will be the end of next week. I’ve not weighed so little for at least 25 years.
I am really enjoying the challenge of losing 2lbs per week. I’m so pleased I looked at this thread and joined you all, it has made an enormous difference to know that there are people all over the world trying to do the same and succeeding.

It’ll be great to research the family tree with your sisters.

Love reading all your posts. Wee I can imagine having the same (or similar) said to me πŸ˜†

Well it’s weigh day today – another 1.5kg gone YAY!!! Plus another 2cm (overall) vanished!

Whoever said it might be fluid retention last week must have been spot on as yesterday I “sprung a leak” (hopefully not TMI).

Total loss so far is 6.6kg in four weeks (well really 3 wks 3 days but will call it four as I’ve settled on today as my weigh day) – I have just worked it out into pounds and it’s roughly 14.5lbs (I think that’s 1 stone – please correct me if I’m wrong) gone!!!

I’m almost jumping out of my skin for joy! I’ve never, EVER, been able to lose this much so quickly and I’m not hungry (apart from a couple of hunger pangs last night, drank some more, and pangs have gone this morning) another 3.4kg and I’ll have made my first goal so not far away now πŸ™‚

When I first started my TDEE was well over 2000 now it’s a smidge under 2000 so that’s also great πŸ™‚ and of course my BMI and BMR are reducing too which is wonderful πŸ˜€ what a wonderful start to my day … wish there were some jumping for joy smilies available in here πŸ˜€

Jojo I have always wanted to research my family tree- one day I will have time I hope. Coincidentally I also have a great great uncle who was ‘ relocated’ to Tasmania and then went walkabout and was never seen or heard of again!
To encourage myself to continue losing weight I have been thinking of treating myself to a new black ‘biker’ jacket. I am in no way what could be described as a rock chick but I like the thought of pushing out of my comfort zone a little. I consulted my daughter in oz who has been my style guru for some time- what did she think? Too young for me – mutton dressed as lamb? “Mmmmm sorry mum I’m not sure. What would you wear with it?” Wavering slightly I replied – ” well I I thought a slightly longer top or blouse with straight cut trousers or jeans”. The next message arrived – a photo of Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley in Ab Fab ” go for it Patsy!!” Hahaha I think I will! πŸ˜†

Well dona Aussie and yes 14 pounds are 1 stone . Yeeessss.

    Isn’t it such a brilliant feeling πŸ™‚

Hubby and I are taking Dad out again tomorrow and I really look forward now to planning what I am going to wear when I go out .

My lovely DIL bought me a gorgeous Maine Jacket a few years ago and it has always been tight . WELL!!! I just tried it on and it is brilliant . I have looked out trousers that are almost a perfect match , It would sound daft to others not loosing weight BUT I am excited about putting it on tomorrow .

it seems such a long time since I have said this but I am actually beginning to like what I see in the mirror .

You guys are brilliant and it is brilliant all the support we give each other . I will be going to bed with a big smile on my face and look forward to the weekend when I hit the 2 stone mark …Yipeee!!!!!

Night all and remember to be good πŸ™‚

    Wee xx

Tartan Lass ….go for it pal ..I bet it will be “FAB”

    Wee xx

Happy Friday people ok some house keeping first up Aussie Oma gold star to you 41 years of marriage is another great news story fantastic news and you have shredded a further 1.5kg nothing gives you a natural buzz and a high from them evil scales going downwards no matter where you put them on the bathroom floor πŸ™‚ and Tartan lass a big shout out to you 32 years and still going strong wicked good and I agree completely in the 80,s that’s how it was hey? when I was 30 I had been married for 10 years and we had 3 kids our now 30 yo son shows no interest in the C word at all ( much to the current girlfriends annoyance) and as for parenthood hhmmm He is not keen at all never mind plenty of time πŸ™‚ Ok this week has been kind to me also with a loss of 1.3kg and after 3 weeks on this WOL -4.7kg the man boobs have gone down atad and the verandah over the toy shop has reduced alittle.Bring on the weekend people
full of peace love and happiness for all
    RT

Yes Jojo. They weren’t all innocent convicts. One of OH’s was a housebreaker who kept reoffending. Different times and most of their kids were able to break out of the poverty cycle. Transportation changed their lives. P

Good morning all. Such successes to log in and find! Wee, OA, RT, Tartan gold stars all round I think.

Had such a bad day yesterday (eating), started OK at breakfast, morning tea with strawberry tart as mentioned, lunch OK but our daughter and grand-daughter waiting at home when we returned from shopping. OH opened a bag of Red Rock chips for g/daughter who loves them and is skinny as – reminds me of me at the same age, all legs and arms and bony behind. Most uncomfortable when she sits on one’s lap because she can’t sit still πŸ™‚ Anyway, you can guess the rest. I suppose not so bad when considering 150g shared between 4 but just so cross with myself for eating mindlessly.

Last day of school hols today so taking the grandies to the Central Market, at their request. ‘Pa’ is always a sucker for lollies &c. Still, what are grandparents for? Anyway, determined to only have coffee for morning tea. With moderate lunch and fish for dinner, which I will cook as if a FD for me, yesterday’s slip-up will be put into perspective.

    Happy Friday all.

    Happy Birthday, Purple

From the golden sandy beach on the South Coast. Last morning before we all drive home. It’s been a fabulous sunny beach holiday. Lots of beach time, lagoon time and board games.

Hope your birthday party is all you wish for.
    Bay πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Thanks RT and everyone else … that’s such a lot to lose (for me) in such a short time … it’s never been (a) this quick or (b) this easy … so happy smiles all day long πŸ™‚

PVE hoping you have/had a fantastic birthday (thanks Bay for letting us know πŸ™‚ )

Well out for dinner tonight … I’m getting to the point where I don’t worry about lunches most days (I take it but if not hungry I bring it home again) but am looking forward to dinner as this is the day I have an icecream (the only treat I allow myself most weeks now).

    Good morning fast trackers,
What a positive vibe we have going on here, it’s great. Well done Aussie Oma, one stone in less than four weeks! I think we may need to change our thread name to ‘lose 4 lbs’ per week. Only joking guys! I am happy with 2 lbs, realistically that is pretty tough on 5:2. Could be possible on ADF though! But not a long term plan. Well done everyone for making these dietary changes that will help them be happy and healthy.
I have just worked out that I will be on 5:2 for a minimum of 6 months if I stick to my goal, then I will switch down to alternate 5:2 and 6:1weekly to maintain for the following year. Then 6:1 forever, according to my research and experience of reading what maintenance girls/ boys have achieved this is essential to stabilise weight. Not going back! No way!
Rough trade – I love the terminology you use, never heard ‘the verandah over the toy shop’ such a graphic description for an apron. It’s one area I would love to dispose of and would even consider surgery if necessary, I will see come next March. Be good today everyone and tomorrow you will be one pound lighter on the scales, keep walking!

I an laying in bed at the moment, no rush to get up. Dog walk then Yoga at 11.30 am and then a swim. Lots of ironing and cleaning planned today, such is life.
My brother is down this weekend which will mean lots of meals out, fish and veg only for me and I am determined to try a new vegetarian restaurant if I can drag them in it. I suspect they would prefer a burger bar we may need to split.

Wicken_01, very sorry, I don’t think I welcomed you to this thread. Great to have another positive contributor.

The key to success is to have a weekly goal, don’t just accept what happens, make it happen. If you have a bad day, week, month, leave it there, don’t look back, only forward to the next size down, next stone marker. Get rid of your fat clothes now, you are not going back.

    Happy fasting everyone!

    Hi team
Congrats to all fast trackers. I wonder what our combined weight loss is for the week.
Nice colourful language, Rogue Trader and new to me too. Funnily enough, my analysis of myself is not so different.
My loss for the first 10 days in October is 3 kg (6.6lbs).
    Amazing loss, AussieOma,
Not sure that 4lbs a week is possible. A deficit of about 14K calories in a week.
We would need a lot of exercise too.
Last week, I swam 3.5 km on one day and I didn’t lose a gram that day. Probably got waterlogged.
Horrible day here, lighning thunder rain and even hail forecast. Bye bye summer.

PS I like the idea of getting rid of oversize clothes. I did that yesterday and feel even lighter. Good advice JoJo

    Morning all.

Another lovely autumn morning, cold but with a clear blue sky.
My first lie in for weeks, and I slept so well after all the exercise yesterday.
FD today and I’m making a cauliflower cheese. I always add mushrooms and a few onions to it, and I’ll cut out the butter and use really strong cheeses so I don’t need so much. I think it’ll be a very tasty dinner and it won’t feel like a fast day. I’ve bought a chicken to roast tomorrow and I’ve planned a week of meals around it. I’ve been eating mostly veggies and fish for the past three weeks, so it is time to do something different to prevent boredom and ensure I’m getting a balanced diet.

I’m hoping to get out for another long walk today. Fingers crossed my delivery arrives early.

    Have a good day/evening everyone.

AO, keep up the good work. It will be that much easier now you know it really does work.
Well done to everyone else too.

Getting rid of oversized clothes is wonderful. I have a shelf piled high with winter clothes that need sorting out and I know that most of them are destined for charity shop or recycling. I’ll save it for a day when the scales haven’t moved and I need cheering up πŸ˜‰

Good morning all and a Happy Birthday Purple . I hope you have a fab day ..

Off to get my dad in about an hour . I bought him some new clothes the other day ( for his Christmas) I want to get him to try them on and see if they fit πŸ™‚ Then I can put them away until then .

We were woken up about 4 this morning wit a helicopter over the house . We are only minutes from the motorway . I think there must have been an accident .I hope it wasn’t too bad πŸ™ .The noise is really scary .

Cold here today but Dad always brightens the day up. Catch up with you all later .

    Wee xx

    Hi all,
Just in from yoga, swim not happening because there was a planned aquarobics class. I don’t mind exercise in the water but a screeching banshee of a teacher and loud music not my thing.

So I am thinking of making a large batch of scrummy, spicy, soup with a squash base and anything in the fridge or freezer whipped through the spiraliser. I find a huge bowl of soup for lunch with three breadsticks really sets me up, I don’t worry about the calories, it travels through quickly. I have just finished my third pint of water today, I have been slacking on this front since before my holiday. Stupid really because I know it deals with hunger efficiently and cleanses out toxins.

Amazon – that cauliflower cheese sounds good, I may put that on my menu for tomorrow

This retirement lark is slowing me down, I get half as much done in twice the time, without a deadline I am just not motivated. This has also applied to my weight loss since July. Only lost 12.5 lbs total, much, much more if you count what I have lost twice or three times. This does not compare well to previous six months of 3 stones. Must put more effort in, me thinks. The plan was to do more in retirement not less.

I think I need a local slim/walk group, they have these in other areas of Kent. I may need to start my own. Anyone else in these? Or Nordic walkers? That looks energetic.
My bowling does not exactly burn calories, actually I have never found that swimming helps either. Guess we are all different. I don’t really enjoy keep fit, vicious circle isn’t it?

Off for a walk to think about everything.

Hello can I please join you? I want to loose about 4 stone (56lbs), would be nice to loose the majority of it by next summer. At my heaviest I was 18st6, been on and off diets for ages, been 5:2ing for nearly two weeks, started at 15st13 and so far down to 15st3 so only 46lbs left to go, seeing as I have quite a lot to loose I feel 2lb a week is probably achievable. I am loving 5:2 so far, I think this might be permanent for me, I’m hoping it is. Weemam can sympathise with being woken up by aircrafts, I live right next to an airport, being woken up at 4am isn’t fun whatever the reason, hope if it was a crash no-one was seriously hurt.
Dinner cant come quick enough today, been cleaning all morning and worked up quite the appetite, good luck to anyone else fasting today x

The first 16 months after I retired my feet didn’t touch the ground. I was out almost every day, I had 14 weeks worth of holidays and the time flew by. Since then I have slowed down. At first it was because I was ill and couldn’t do much, then I got it into my head that there is nothing wrong with doing nothing occasionally, but the occasions have become more frequent. I’ve never had much of a routine as I worked all hours on any day in the NHS, but now there is no plan at all. So after 2 years I’ve not yet found the right balance, but I’m working on it.
As for exercise, I just keep imagining the fat melting away……………..
    Time for my walk.

Starting a 60 hour fast of 1200 calories and alot of sleep. For a doable B2B starting from after my lunch at work.
    Weigh in 217lbs
will like to be 216 on sunday

this week I plan to find more info on probiotics

    Welcome abop,

I think you will be able to lose 2lb per week if you fast and control your non fast days. I have lost 58 lbs since November last year. The most important change I recommend is to record calories and exercise on ‘fitness pal’ and drink 4 pints of water per day. Many of us on here are also on low carb plans. I am now a vegetarian and non drinker which I plan to maintain at least until I reach goal. Exercise is vital, walk everyday if possible.

We are a friendly and positive bunch.

    Jojo xx

I got rather wet this afternoon as the heavens opened mid walk while walking in Kew Gardens, as far away from a building as is possible. I ended up under a sturdy looking tree which prevented me from getting soaked to the skin. By the time I left to head home the sun was shining brightly again πŸ˜†

The cauliflower cheese was really good. I had forgotten how much I like it. It came in at 1,000 calories so I now have two portions in the freezer.

    2lb a week is a math problem .
    1 1/4lb Β calorie restriction + Β 3/4 lb of exercise.
    In other wordsΒ
    Three 600 calorie fast days
Four 1,500 feed days of a 2,000 BMR basically 500 of calorie restriction.
200 of exercise calories Β after every meal on feed days. Β or 2,400 over seven day period.

Here’s a list of exercises with their calories .

My choice is Β jumprope . It is a triple benefit.Β

Helps to circulate the lymphatic system.

If I get winded , I continue to do jumping jacks .I always use a timer . It goes beep and it’s over with.

My experience with this WOL way of life
I keep detailed notes on what eat By the week.
I pay attention to weeks I have lost 2 lbs
After a year and a half I’ve lost 57lbs and have 43lbs to Keep On Keepin Off

4:3 and 500 calorie restriction on feed days with 200 cals of exercise is the only times I’ve lost 2 lbs a week for 5 weeks in row.

    Love the sayings SAMM.

RT love the descriptors and thanks for the encouragement πŸ˜€

Amazon, Jojo, and anyone else I’ve missed, yes I’m certain this WOL is for me … last week was only 200g lost and on a regular “diet” (or dare I eat this) that would be the pattern, 2 or 300g per week if lucky but usually start putting on the next week so to lose another 1.5kg was awesome. Still pinching myself (figuratively not physically πŸ˜† ) that I’ve lost so much in such a short time. The last time I managed to lose this amount took 2 and a bit months!! My calorie intake was less than 1,000 AND my physical activity was higher then too!!

Hi to abop and wicken *waves*

Jojo I love my soup but resist any form of bread other than one slice when out for dinner as bread is one of my major downfalls.

Wee I hope you had a wonderful visit with your Dad and agree that to be woken by such a racket would be heart pounding time for me too. Luckily we rarely get that sort of noise here.

Well it’s still stupid o’clock here so back to bed for an hour or two πŸ™‚

Oh, forgot to say SAMM great going with the data πŸ˜€ always interesting to know these things.

    Hoya all ..

Been a really long day and just came in to ask a couple of questions ..

Do you use ALL of your TDEE ?

Can you tell me any “healthy” smoothie /veg smoothies I can try please ?

    Thanks guys

    Be good and have fun

    Wee xx

    Hi Weemam.

I have one day when I eat up to my TDEE and am trying to keep it down on the other days. I’ve also started eating less than 500 on fast days.

Can’t help with the smoothies but I’m sure someone will be able to.

Thanks Amazon . mine is around 1500 I use about 1200 (sometimes a 1000 ) and usually between 300 and 400 on fast days

I was going to try and eat more but as I am loosing fine I am scared to muck it up

    Wee xx

@jojo58. I am part of a walking group in Kent. I mainly do the 5-6 mile walks on sundays. There is also a 11+mile walk but since I am still working full time, I don’t want to give up the whole of Sunday. (I will do it some time though)
All the people are really really nice and joining the ramblers this summer it was one of the best things I have done in long time. i should have done this years ago.

Hi everyone, have just started . Completed my first fast day yesterday and it went well. I think knowing it was just one day helped my mind accept the challenge feel lighter this morning (yes I know it is water but it feels good) I have 40 kilos to shift I suspect that is over 100 pounds so am here for the long run. Looking to get healthy and to sharing the journey. Emel

Hi Emel this is a great group to get to know, a wealth of knowledge from around the world πŸ™‚

I too feel lighter after my FD’s (fast days) and find this WOL or WOE (way of life or way of eating) great for me.

Many of us use an app called MyFitnessPal to track what we’re eating and it also has areas for exercise to be input too πŸ™‚

Wee I allow myself to eat between my BMR and TDEE once or twice a week, my FD’s are now between 4 and 500 cals but my non-FDs are usually around the 1200 cal (I do sort of track in that I put everything into MyFitnessPal app and it just is working out to be that much, the exception where I eat between BMR & TDEE is every Friday and sometimes a Saturday OR a Sunday.

    I can’t answer regarding smoothies, sorry πŸ™‚

Greetings and Salutations to all my new and old fast tracking friends SAMM thanku for the one liners that was awesome and the quotes of inspiration you always find pearls of wisdom and nuggets of knowledge and share to us all much appreciated…I have an interstate work trip on next week and living out the suitcase in a motel till Friday I am feeling a personal challenge coming on and a 4 day fast to complete my first month on this new and exciting WOL..I am really keen to Bear Grylls it style πŸ™‚ with nothing more than a jug a toaster and a mico-wave…

Smoothies are great , but sometimes difficult to measure . If you are buying store bought then not a counting issue. Also if your having fruit smothie may be a great feed day source of nutrition.

What I like for fast day is an icee. I start with mixing stevia into water until it starts to taste less like water and more like sweet. I do this without flavor, because – without explaining why. I decided to teach my taste buds what foods taste like unsweetened.
I chop up the ice into slush and add the dark bakers chocolate. It takes awhile to get the right combination of measure , just enough to flavor the water, less than beverage. It does 4 things
    1 hydrates
2 helps control blood sugar via stevia spikes
3 adds anti oxidants and resveratol via the dark bakers chocolate
    4 yum factor
I discovered this completely by accident one summer when I put a pitcher of water in freezer . When I got it out it was slushy. My daughter wanted to know if she could have a coco . She was seven at the time. I had no sugar, or coco , just the hershy dark cacao and stevia. . Because I said yes to her before realizing I didn’t have the regular stuff. She mixed it up on her own , similar to when she makes koolaid . She was scarfing it down. I sampled it , the added just enough stevia to make it pallet able . We still drink it in the summers. When I looked it up realized this treat wa actually extremely healthy.

These days my daughter and I keep it in the mini fridge up stairs , we discovered it tastes better if it has had several days to dissolve into water and drink it at 36 degrees. So to be clear , its more of chocolate tea. We laugh and giggle. Because I said it was chocolatea. Seven year olds πŸ™‚

Its a zero calorie drink between I sometimes take my multiple vitamins or fiber tablet in the mornings when I would normally eat breakfast.

Many times I would skip the typical carb loading for breakfast. And take the morning time as time to wake up my metabolism with 3minutes of skipping, and just enough dried fruit and multivitamins to get me ready for waiting until noon for more sustenance.

Thing is that’s my approach . I would expect that if your very interested in smoothies , you should seek it in your own way.

RU under doctor supervision with those 96 hour fasts.
It’s my understanding that the body starteps to burn muscle after a72hours and is why it accepted that any fasts longer than 48 hours be with supervision.
I just curious about you and want to see you succeed.

    From 2010
Β Intermittent fasting goes against most of the traditional bodybuilding, fitness and nutritionst endorsed diets. However, medical science and anecdotal evidence suggests it is the way to go for those struggling with weigh loss, especially those with low thyroid function. There are no meal plans to follow or certain foods to eat (although eliminating simple carbs will make the lifestyle even more effective). The basic premise of this diet (it’s really a lifestyle) is skipping breakfast and lunch everyday, and eating all of your meals within a specific time frame during the day. Some common styles of eating are 16/8 (16 hours fasting and 8 hours eating) 18/6, 19/5 and 20/4. While fasting your body (as it has evolved to do) will burn stored fat as energy (contrary to popular believe your body does not switch to burning muscle until 72 hours without food). Doing some sort of exercise during your fasting period will increase the amount of fat you burn, even if it is just walking. During the eating time frame you eat as you normally would, in the small time you have to eat it is almost impossible for you do go above your body’s calorie limit for the day. The intermittent fasting lifestyle also you to no longer be a slave to the “food schedule” you have all day from the time you wake up to the time you eat in the early / late afternoon to not plan where your next meal is coming from. The fast helps your body detoxify itself and fully digest your last meal. With your body spending less energy digesting, the rest of your organs are able to receive more blood and more oxygen in order to function properly. This is especially true of mental function, while fasting your brain releases hormones which increase mood and mental clarity (goodbye brain fog!) If you have high blood sugar or are pre-diabetic this lifestyle is extremely useful as insulin resistence is lowered considerably, cholesterol levels are improved and trigylcrides are eliminated from the blood. During your fasting period you are allowed to drink non-caloric beverages (coffee, water, diet soda, green tea, etc. etc) and chew sugarfree gum. The great thing about this diet is you are NOT starving yourself, you eat everyday and around the same amount of calories as you normally would eating 3 meals or 6 small meals yet due to the fasting period your body is able to burn fat. Try this during your next work week (just skip breakfast and lunch) and you’ll be amazed at the results.

I’ll add that if you suspect thyroid issues. While intermittent fasting to avoid spinach.

    Morning all.

I’m not entirely convinced that if we do a 4 day fast our bodies will start to burn muscle, because although it is termed a “fast” for the purpose of this WOE it isn’t as we are ingesting 25% of our daily calorie requirement.
To fast actually means nothing to eat or drink.
If someone does a 4 day fast as per this plan, and does some exercise every day I can see no reason why the body would burn muscle.

    What do you think SAMM?

It’s another lovely morning here, blue sky and sunshine and the wind has dropped so it feels warmer πŸ™‚

Feed day for me today and roast chicken is on the menu.

Wow!! Smiles all over my face and brain!
I had to run down to the living room to fetch my specs as I didn’t quite believe what the scales was telling me this morning. I have lost 3 lbs in the last 10 days. I’m chuffed to bits. If it keeps up I shall have to have words with Father Christmas about clothes!!

What I’m really enjoying ( apart from all the encouragement here) is the cooking challenges as I love cooking.
Each evening I plan next days ‘menu’ and calorie intake.
The hardest part of the day, when my brain tries to continually tell me I fancy a nibble, is when we’re watching TV in the evening.
I’ve tried to be extra careful so that I can really enjoy our celebration tomorrow. πŸ™‚
Be encouraged that your challenge is effective jojo.

    Morning wicken.

I’m fortunate in that I’ve never been one for sitting in front of the TV of an evening eating snacks. Apart from Christmas when there is all manner of goodies everywhere, I rarely eat after dinner, though I used to be an expert at all day grazing.

When I came out of the newsagent this morning, I realised that I hadn’t even glanced at the array of crisps, nuts, chocolate bars and all manner of dangerous foodstuff on display at the till. That is a result as I usually look at the packets of salted nuts and Doritos with longing πŸ˜†

I’ve just had my weekly treat of a bacon sarnie.
