  • I posted this last night and lost it lol . Just found it now . I will be fine 🙂 you can’t keep an old horse down ( something like that lol 🙂

I love the wee poem SAMM. When our eldest was 50 a couple of years ago . I asked him if he was 50 or 51 . He is a bit mad just like the rest of the family and said ” Mam you should know how old I am as you were there ” .lol . So I can understand your confusion SAMM . LOl .

Well of to bed now and catch up with you all tomorrow .

I don’t always remember all the names here but I do read all the posts and I enjoy EVERY one xx

    Love that song, RT!

My reading this week has me paranoid of fruit pairings. I hope to gain a better understanding and explain in a knowledgable manner. For now. I’ll eat fruits only as snacks as stand alone intake. And not pair any fruits with anything. My next fasts will only be Friday and Saturday’s b2b on then restart ADF Mon 27th As I’m now in full on strength training, HIIT, & NEAT for three weeks before cold sets in.

    Morning all.

I can’t decide whether to stick to 2 B2B fasts or try ADF so I’ll fast today and see how I feel tomorrow. I do enjoy having consecutive feed days at the weekend, so it might be better to stick with B2B for now.
It’s Monday so I guess there is a lot of fasting going on.

Have a good day/ evening everyone.

I was meant to have been having a semi-fast day today but that hasn’t turned out due to unexpected changes so I will do B2B Wednesday & Thursday with weigh in Friday. Tomorrow will also be a semi-fast day as well.

I find that having a largish meal Friday night and I don’t need to eat much on Saturday, Sunday is usually a more rather than less eating day but this week it’s been moved around a bit to today.

Time to get a wriggle on … catch up later 🙂

    Good morning g fast trackers,
Hooray 2 lbs off already, wish it was a new loss thought, never mind at least it is the right direction.
I like ADF as opposed to B2B but then I am eating three times per day on both, very small quantities in meals on fast days, I just find it more manageable for long term weight loss. I have never liked going without a meal but if I did it would be breakfast as after nearly 60 years I have discovered you can survive quite well without it, it’s just habit, our enemy. I already feel slimmer and fitter after two days back, one day 1200 calls and one 600. No more cafe lattes for me and certainly no more alcohol, what happens on holiday stays on holiday method, no more guilt trip.
I have the dentist today at 9 am then a full on day of physical activity, can’t wait.
Have a good fasting day my friends.

    I’ve reported the spam.

    Hi Smiffy,

Must keep it short as the day job has kicked in again. It is sad how the Costa del Sol and the rest of the south coast has been spoiled. When we go down that way we tend to stay inland, although Cadiz, which was our most recent Spanish holiday base, seems to have escaped the worst of the damage.

If you have the chance, do consider having another crack at Spanish. I often think that it would be very good as the first foreign language that kids are introduced to in school. Within a very few weeks, you can conduct a simple conversation, and pronunciation is ‘like what is writ’. i.e. you don’t have to produce the strange noises required by French (which I love, BTW).

The Basque Chicken looks brilliant and I’ll certainly track it down. Not today though, we have switched our usual fast day.

    Hi All,
I had a really terrible experience today, my dog ran off onto the railway line. I had to go to the station platform end and keep calling her. The guard would not allow me to go further. She had crossed the line and been terrified by a train horn which then passed her. My heart was beating so much I thought it would explode. It was truly ghastly. She will never be let off the lead again. I just cannot imagine what got into her, she never usually goes out of sight let alone through metal gates.
I tell you if I had had a brandy in the house I would have had one when I got home. A cup of tea had to do.
After this I went out to play indoor bowls which is very different from lawn bowls. It requires a calm gentle technique, neither of which I could manage today. I cancelled yoga this afternoon because I could not hack the stillness. I will do badminton tonight though and if it stops raining this afternoon I will do another dog walk but only with my dog that will behave properly.

Oh, Jojo, so sorry for your scare. That would have shaken me terribly as well. You are wise to care for yourself as you need to for the rest of today. xox

Poor jojo, that must have been terrifying. I imagine that as well as comforting your dog you also gave her a good telling off. I think you are very wise to tailor your activities today to match your state of mind.

I meant to post you earlier about farce and slapstick. Couldn’t agree more, for me both are pointless, puerile and deeply unfunny. Maybe it’s a gender thing and men enjoy it more than women.

    Hi Smiffy,

I’ve just found the Chicken Basque recipe. Added to all the other goodies, it has sun-dried tomatoes, which I love. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for pointing it out.

Jojo, poor you. What a scary experience for you and your dog. Do you think she saw a rabbit or something and gave chase?
I guess you’ll have to keep her on a lead for a while.

It has finally stopped raining here after 4 hours. During that time the builders worked outside erecting a fence in the back garden. I was amazed that they didn’t give up and go home. I wouldn’t have worked in pouring rain!

I’m struggling today. Really hungry after three consecutive feed days. I’ve eaten a carrot and given myself a talking to as I’m determined to get through today without breaking my fast or eating so early that I go to bed hungry.

aww Jojo you must have been so scared . I used to love my dogs so much then I became allergic to anything with fur . I still have to pet animals but carry wet wipes about with me all the time :(.

I have not got a headache so far today and the sun has actually just come out . been pouring down all day .

I have been doing BTB all week but still the same weight (1 one pound down since last week) as I weighed on Friday ( a wee sneaky peek lol )
I have done a wee experiment and upped to my TDDE and did alternate days but I have much better results doing my own thing .

So this week I will go back to eating as I usually do ( a bit less than recommended) and 5.2 .Some days turn out fasts when I didn’t intend them to though .

I hope everyone else is having a good day .
Jojo I think you should try and take it a bit easier today as a fright can really take it out of you .

sorry my post seems to be all over the place today ..have fun

    Wee xx

Thanks everyone, feeling better now, actually had to have a sleep on the sofa this afternoon. I am sure all will be well now but I am definitely not risking her off the lead again. When I told my daughter she said that she had run off a couple of times last week while I was away. They hadn’t thought to tell me earlier.
I guess she will start behaving differently now as she is coming up to 11 years old and her hearing is not what it was. Just very glad my other dog didn’t chase after her.
Hermaj, thank goodness that someone else agrees with me about slapstick humour. However there were an equal number of women laughing their heads off amongst the audience. I prefer to think that it’s the more intelligent folks who don’t appreciate that type of humour. Actually I rarely like jokes or cartoons either, or any thing Disney. I love musicals though and oddly I like panto at Christmas( which I know is contradictory) what can I say? Difficult to please. It’s still raining big time here but I am glad for my garden.
Just had a Mediterranean omelette followed stewed apple with raisins – yum

    Hi jojo,

Slapstick and farce are down there with the old-style stand-up comics with their jokes about mothers-in-law and ‘dumb’ blondes – mysogynistic as well as stupid. My first husband took me to see a Brian Rix farce on our honeymoon. It made me squirm and I walked out halfway. He was galant enough to come with me but couldn’t understand why I didn’t like it.

Not that I don’t have a sense of humour. I like some of the younger stand-ups, ‘younger’ being relative as many of those who started off in the late 80s/early 90s are now distinctly middle-aged. I prefer observational humour to jokes.

Sitcoms get right up my nose, with a few notable exceptions, like the 4th series of Blackadder, ‘The Thick of It’ (colourful vocab bothers me much less than sexist, racist language), and my all-time favourite, the wonderful ‘Rev’.

There has been and still is some great humour coming from actors and comedians of other ethnicities, who include a number of Asians, Africans and Afro-Caribbeans of both genders. There are several extremely clever and funny young Nigerian female stand-ups, much of whose humour is based on the quirks of their own families.

A brilliant example of ethnic comedy was Goodness, Gracious Me. When it started as a radio show, performed in front of an audience many of whom were young British Asians, it was wonderful to hear their delighted peels of laughter as they recognised aspects of their own families and communities. My lovely niece-in-law is half Indian and when she gave her Indian dad a cassette of the show (this was still in the 90s) as a birthday gift, he was thrilled to bits, not least because the humour was so spot on.

    Good morning everyone.

Oh my goodness Jojo that would have made me have kittens watching that and being unable to get to her. So glad you’re recovering well now though.

Well it’s a wet and cold morning here … yesterday was meant to be raining and windy, well it was windy alright but only a few drops of rain. This morning it’s been raining but easing now. Still it’s good for the garden and the rain water tanks. We try to use only rain water so need the tanks being topped up every so often so we don’t run out during summer 🙂 and it’s meant to be warming up again from tomorrow 😀

Planning a semi-fast day today with B2B fast days tomorrow and Thursday.

    Hi all,
Just not my day. Badminton did not go well. They have changed the rules from playing sides to playing front and back. This means that I hardly touched the shuttle all night in the forward position as I was playing with male partners. I think I will be giving this game up if this sexual discrimination continues. If we have to continue in this way I think we need to ignore the rule of women playing at the front. Trouble is we are in routines and habits from our old game. I will give it until Christmas.

Planning Three Sicy Sisters Stew tomorrow, which includes corn, pinto beans and squash.

Really looking forward to this new vegan food plan.

Like Sam I am looking into anti inflammatory foods for health. Still low carb, no meat, no alcohol, low sugar and fish only when I am out to dinner as vegan options that are non carb, or sugar are rare.

    Hello all

Hermaj, I forgot to mention the sundried tomatoes. The whole dish is a lovely combination of flavours, and if you have the time to joint the chicken and use the carcass to make the stock it’s even better. Everyone I have entertained over the past 20 years has been given this one at one time or another, and there have been many!

Amazon – your recipes sound lovely too. Will have a closer look at the links.

Jojo, what a dreadful thing to happen, no wonder you were a quivering wreck. I had a life-passed-before-the-eyes experience last year when our dogs were 6 months old and rounded up a field full of sheep. I fully expected the farmer to arrive with his shotgun – he would have been completely within his rights. They are now on leads if we are anywhere near sheep. Sadly Hermaj, we can’t walk them in the Forest of Dean, where they are roaming everywhere.

I’m with you both re slapstick and farce, and there are very few stand ups I like. I don’t like many modern sitcoms, British or American, but I think my all time favourite was Frazier. I do like some comedy dramas though, and have enjoyed Last Tango in Halifax and the more recent Boomers (in fact almost anything with Alison Steadman in) and have to confess to being a bit of a Gavin & Stacey fan.

So far as going back to learning Spanish Hermaj, if I was 20 years younger I might well have, but since retirement, I now shy away from any kind of regular commitment. I had many years of commitment and responsibility in various guises, not only work-related, and now that I no longer have those worries, I relish my time and freedom. These days my only regular commitment is my fasting days! And my old Mum of course. Also, OH doesn’t do holidays abroad – he hasn’t even got a current passport, hence the compromise with the house in Wales so we can have holidays. I do occasionally have a holiday in the sun with an old friend, so can have the best of both worlds.

By the way, I do like French, and even got an A-level. Your remarks about Spanish as a second language reminded me of a Welshman who was a neighbour of our friends in Spain. When he was at school in South Wales, they did actually teach Spanish, as there was so much sea trade with Spain in those days. Could that be how your first husband became a Welsh Spaniard?

Good luck with the vegan way JoJo, and sorry the badminton is causing such anguish. It is supposed to be a relaxing recreation, so perhaps if you’re not getting the enjoyment you should from it, it’s time to try something else.

I’m nodding off as I write this, so goodnight all, and good morning to our friends on the other side of the world.

    Smiffy x

    Good morning fast-tracking mates.

Back at work after wonderful long weekend, although the weather was a bit ordinary yesterday with extreme bushfire danger, 100 km/hr (60mph) wind gusts and 30C (85F) followed by cool change (temp dropped 15oC in 15 minutes). Saturday and Sunday lovely weather. This morning light rain and cool.

Far too much socializing over the weekend so (of course!) FD today but can’t do Wednesday fasts because too tired at weight training, so just 1 day this week.

Jojo, very frightening experience with your dog. After our old lab became deaf he would occasionally run off when he had been perfectly reliable before. We concluded he was more easily spooked by the sudden appearance of something which he would have heard coming previously. No more off-lead times for him except at home and in fenced local parks after that.

    Happy Tuesday all.

Greetings all my new fast tracking friends.. question have any of you guys had any experience with or used Shirataki Noodles I am keen to get some and report back so you can scope it out here

    peace RT

We (almost) all love shiritaki noodles, RT. In fact, I am eating some right now, topped with tomato sauce and chicken meatballs stuffed with goat cheese. Just make sure you rinse them very well before using, and they are best served with a very flavorful sauce, since they have little flavor of their own. I am partial to the “rice” type, which resemble tiny balls of pasta. They are a great way to bulk up fast day meals for very few calories.

    Hi RT

Purple is a great advocate for them but the rubbery texture didn’t appeal to me – maybe not preparing them the right way(?).

Certainly lots of bulk for only 8 calories and no flavour. They have an odd smell on opening the packet but rinsing fixes that. I bought mine (Slendier brand) from my local Woolies but understand Coles has them too. Don’t be tempted to freeze them – they come out like bits of rubber.

The only dishes I use ordinary pasta/noodles in are stir-fries and Italian style with sauces so just omitted them from stir-fries (lots of other bulk with veges) and used carrot or zucchini cut into shreds on a mandolin in place of spaghetti.

Interesting to hear how you go. Nicky

Hi Ply, are you up late in UK or not so late in America?

    Sleep tight.

Hiya all . past midnight here and off to bed ..

The hammering next door was doing my head in . 2 people knocking down walls by the sound of it .
I went over to Ross and cut his hair and his nails . he can’t do it with the CP. When I was there I had ice cream . Had eaten my calories for today SOOO I put them on tomorrows allowance 🙂 🙂 .

First time I have gone over my allowance since I started though ..Can you all se my halo shine from way over there lol? ..

Night all from here . Have a good day all of you from across the water.

    Wee xx

Haha, Nicky, I am up not so late in America!

Ply that does indeed sound very gourmet 🙂 good from you!!!
I must say I havn’t seen them in my woolies here at Naracoorte Nicky although its reasonable to think I may have just missed them in one of the 25 isles while walking along the ends looking up reading whats down there confused much…;)
    RT

Hi again RT. I found them by accident in a ‘gourmet/health food’ section. In my Woolies they’re in the same aisle as breakfast cereals on the opposite side.

JoJo What a great friend you must be to your pet with so much feeling when in danger.
I bet you can understand why I’m focussed on strength training now from what I’ve mentioned in the past.
I’m not able to let thing play out when danger is present, my training and experiences compel me to step forward and take action. Thank goodness the rail line attendant kept you safe.

I’m so sore from today’s lifting. Funny that I was lifting with my old marine neighbor. He commented on my weight loss. Gave me the chance to talk about intermittent fasting and HIIT. how the biggest risk for obese people’s is their visceral fat. After the lifting sets I jumped continuously for 10 minutes for the first time since I was 33. He wasn’t impressed. As much as impressed that an obese person such as myself could out lift and jump rope more than he could. I know I’m on the right path. Even when the scale barely moves. My job has my ability to push very hard ax sometimes have to push heavy crates . The marine and I tussled about for a bit. Bit moving over to the punching bags. I hate getting hit by marines! I gues I deserved it in the shoulder, because I was trying my best to out do him , rather than my own pace. But he forgot about my rotator cuff. I’ll have to suspend my lifting with that arm until it feels ok . 🙁

I don’t cook them just pour boiling water over to rinse after I’ve washed them well and add prawns cucumber parsely coriander and as mentioned a very good tart flavourful dressing.

SAMM, you’ve made me laugh out loud. Just as well I have an office to myself.

Hope your shoulder is getting better. Nicky

    Morning/evening all.

SAMM, thanks for giving me a great start to my day with a good laugh 😆
I hope your shoulder gets better soon.

Another 1lb gone, that is 15 in 8 weeks. I can’t believe how easy it has been so far and how well the weight is coming off. I have a really busy day ahead so I’m considering B2B, but if it proves too tough I’ll try to stick to 1,000 calories and fast tomorrow.

The last day of work on the outside of the house today. The scaffolding will be struck tomorrow. I’m having a few issues finding a painter but I’ll just keep pestering them until someone say yes!!!
Work starting on the inside in a few days. Most of my lights are being replaced and then some re-plastering of walls, lots of decorating and some new flooring. I’ll be soooo pleased when it is all finished.

    Have a good day/evening everyone

    Hello all,
Miserable weather here but going out for my walk anyway, no rest for the wicked or fattys. I am am losing holiday weight very quickly, down another 2 lb so only 2 to go, thank goodness.
Did I tell you I broke my tooth on holiday, they want £450.00 to cap it, back tooth, that is a lot of money for me, checking my insurance today. Is dental work this expensive in Australia and America?
Weemam, you are without doubt the Queen of our thread, I am very impressed and trying hard to follow your example.
Zero noodles can be bought on Amazon at £1.50 per bag( bulk buying 20), sorry but I don’t know how that translates in dollars. I only use it in stir fry, cooked for one minute in sweet chilli dressing, perfect low carb food. Essential to rinse first. I also buy nuts in bulk as I use them daily, big savings and better quality I have found. Love Brazil and almond nuts which are both healthy and nutritious but watch the calories, small portions only.
If you are not wearing a pedometer Or Fitbit I suggest you get one, very helpful to ensure you are active. Even sitting and bouncing on an exercise ball for an hour indoors will burn calories you won’t loose sitting in an armchair. I use one when ironing too. Skipping and trampolining are without doubt the best way to cleanse lymphatic glands but get into these gently, start 30 seconds. Increase very slowly if you are obese as injuries will put you back weeks or months.
Welcome to our thread Matrika, tell us about you diet journey.
I am fasting today so happy to be active, I should clock up 15,000 steps no problem

    Hi Samm,
Thought some of those jokes were very funny,

I admit to loving Gavin and Stacey too, the fattest characters are the funniest, is that why?
I also like polital dramas, West Wing was brilliant.

    Favourite musical – Les Mis

What is your favourite tv viewing or film, great to exchange ideas

I watch documentaries, travel and food/cookery but not competitions such as bake off or Masterchef and I love to watch tennis. I rarely watch sit coms or drama series and miss some good stuff which I’m trying to remedy, but I don’t turn the TV on every day so it is easy to miss things. I’ve never seen Downton Abbey.
I like QI, but don’t watch any sitcoms. I used to love anything that Ronnie Barker did and will happily watch re-runs of the two Ronnies, Porridge, Open all Hours 😆
I asked for vouchers when I gave up work and bought a new music system and I listen to music often, and have a record deck so play my ancient LPs, also CDs and playlists from my iPhone.
I’m trying to get back into the habit of going to the cinema every week, but there is a dearth of films that I want to see at the moment.

    Love the jokes SAMM 😆

Well, pedometer has died (battery no longer functional) however it was not expensive so will need to get a new one 😀

Amazon pity you’re not here as my OH is a painter 🙂 also congrats on your loss 🙂

Not sure Jojo re the translation from pounds into dollars and I have very good health insurance which covers dental so I don’t have to pay much at all for dental work but 450 pounds sounds an awful lot of money!!

Ah Porridge and Open All Hours – great shows! Also like the Black Adder series 🙂 there are a few other comedies I enjoy as well as some drama’s but dislike intensely horror movies, can’t abide some of the really inane vampire series either.

Too much to catch up on other than Wee what a lovely person you are 😀

Hi to Ply, Nicky, RT, Matrika, PVE, Smiffy and everyone else in here losing themselves slowly but surely 😆

    AO, hi and thanks.

I’ve just been given another contact for a painter and it sounds promising 🙂

I used to do on call and could be called any time day or night so before the days of video recorders I stopped watching series of most things as it was so annoying to miss an episode and not know what was going on the next time I watched. I’ve never got back into the habit of watching them.
I don’t watch soaps either :nope:

SAMM, you are very, very naughty. But we love you for it. Keep’em coming. 🙂

One solution for those of us who are picky about what we watch on the box is BBC iPlayer. I and OH have very different tastes in telly. Sadly he likes the stupid stuff, he is a bloke after all, 🙁 So I download my preferences mostly factual – art, history and other documentaries – and the occasional quality one-off drama, on to the iPlayer and watch them at my leisure. It doesn’t cover absolutely everything, probably about 90%.

There are similar ‘watch when you want’ players for commercial channels. Keen cook that I am, I rarely watch cookery programmes, apart from Rick Stein’s various series, and I can’t be doing with competitions.

I adore Rick Stein. I never cooked fish until he appeared on the scene, but I’ll tackle anything now.

There is only me so I can watch whatever I want without having to consider anyone else, but I’m hopeless in that I read about an upcoming program in the weekend papers and then forget about it, so now when I read about something I think I’ll like I turn on the TV and set the Sky box up to record it.

Good morning all . The sun is shining this morning and I am clocking in here before the hammering starts next door . I am not complaining as they are a young couple and our old neighbour ( who was a lovely man ) was in his 90’s , SOOO they have a lot of work to do .

Our daughter In law went down to take Dad out yesterday at 1 o’clock and he refused to get up as ” he was nice and cosy” she is great as her hubby (our eldest) is.I don’t know how we would manage without them , they take dad out twice a week . both take him on their own or with our granddaughters aged 20 and 25 . Did I tell you he put a pear in his pocket the other day ?
Hubby was laughing the other day as we were passing bed covers ,sheets etc and I said “relax pal they are too big to put in his pockets” . Dad was such a gentleman ,mind you he still is and still has all his manners but the Alzheimers has made him a wee bit of a “collector” lol for want of a better word .

I am off now to check e-mails etc before the noise starts . Going for flu jab tomorrow and hair appointment on Thursday .
Normal eating day BUT had to put my ice cream in “That Ross forced me to eat last night” Ha! ha! . just a wee blip he said lol .

SAMM loved the jokes pal . I wish I could remember some of them though .

Have a nice day /night guys and try to be good 🙂

    Wee xx

Amazon …Ross explained to me last night how I could put U Tube through the TV . I came home and did it and I was watching . Obese a year of my life ( or something like that ) I am hooked on these kind of programmes AND I love The Big Bang Theory too .

    Wee xx

    Hi Smiffy,

I’d better at least attempt to keep this short as I’m supposed to be working. But this is my lunch break after all.

I also used to love Frasier, but somehow it started to go downhill and Daphne used to annoy the hell out of me. I’d gladly revisit the earlier stuff, though.

Good thinking re Spanish-Welsh ex. The true story is that his dad was a Spanish Civil War refugee, a Republican sympathiser (i.e. anti-Franco) and Jewish to boot, and therefore likely to be very vulnerable under an extreme right wing regime. Quite a character, he had two sets of ID papers, one Republican, one Franco-ist – don’t ask, I haven’t clue how he managed it. He met the ex’s Welsh mum in London where I think she was in domestic service. He was a customer of the Spanish bank where I worked. When he died the bank gave his daughter a job. She and I got on well and one day she invited me home, where I met her elder brother and the rest, as they say, is (ancient) history.

You say your OH doesn’t do ‘abroad’. Left to his own devices mine wouldn’t either. He has been known to come out with such gems as ‘what’s the point of Rome?’, or ‘why bother going to Paris?’ or just plain ‘I want to go home’. He was happy enough to go on exotic beach holidays with his ex and small kids, especially as a lot of them came either free or very cheap with the job.

Fortunately, he has mellowed and has become somewhat easier to please. I’m quite willing to travel alone for relatively short stretches. A few years back I went on my own to Berlin to catch an exhibition, about which I had translated reams, before it jetted off to the Far East. Suddenly I was back in my 20s, sitting on a cafe terrace, completely free, watching the world go by, without a soul knowing where I was. I’m pleased to say Him Indoors likes Germany, Holland and Scandinavia and we both enjoyed the eastern USA especially New England and also Chicago where we began our last trip. We don’t really agree on New York, which I absolutely love.

His favourite is Spain, he even started talking about moving there. However, there are times when I feel I’ve ‘had’ Spain, with so much of my past life – personal, academic, work – connected with the place, not always very happily. Every now and then we go there to keep him sweet, but there are many more places I’d prefer to be.

That’s it for now. Hermaj has left the building…

    Evening all.

I fell foul of a large slice of fruit cake at lunchtime so ADF it is this week!
I’ve just made some stuffed peppers. There is enough for 2 portions at 365 calories each, so I can have the other half when I fast tomorrow.
I’ve had nothing else apart from the cake so will be under 1000 calories for the day 🙂

Good morning fellow fasters, a lovely morning here. Wow so much to catch up on after having a sleep, unfortunately work beckons so I must go and prepare for that. I’ll try to catch up over lunch otherwise it will be tonight.

Hi Nicky you know your woolies it was in the gourmet health food & nutrition aisle here also which in this shop is across from the bread…$3-80 a packet either angel hair. noodles. fettuccine and lasagne sheets. Hi All,
I have been doing the 5:2 for about 3 weeks. When I started my weight was 83 and now i am about 79. Today is my fast day and I have fruits (banana with apples and and orange), Quinoa and chicken for the day. I ran about 12 kms yesterday at 6.25 per Km so very happy although I didnt feel it was that good. Went to the gym early this morning so all good and ready for the day.

Blimey Hermaj! Sod the Glasgow tenements – you could write books based on your life, and the people in it, that would run into volumes! Fantastic!

I also find it galling that in his previous life (i.e. Pre-me!) OH was a regular traveller abroad. Although single, he had cousins that he either went with or visited, as he had one who lived in the US for a while. He says he never really enjoyed it and often went under sufferance, but it still rankles!

Amazon – I wouldn’t worry about the cake as long as you enjoyed it. I hope you get your painter sorted and can get on with getting your work finished. It’s horrid having to go through the upheaval, but worth it in the end.

My favourite musical is also Les Mis, hotly followed by West Side Story. I don’t watch any of the soaps, though I did years ago, then got bored as it was always the same story lines, just different characters. I love a good drama (anyone been watching The Driver, which finished tonight? Excellent) and crime thrillers, but as we’ve never got to grips with how to record on our DVD player, can’t record anything I have to miss! I do watch the odd programme on iPlayer, but so rarely seem to get time to catch up on all I would like.

I did my weekly weigh-in this morning – another 1.5 lbs down! This brings me to just under 12 st, so I am now 11 stone something instead of 12 stone something. A great feeling!

Ply – I still haven’t made the apple pie biscuits. I did make the apple chutney yesterday but didn’t dare make the biscuits as I was fasting. I spent today visiting my mother so they are definitely on the cards for tomorrow.

Weemam – I hope you get a good night’s sleep and peace reigns again soon.

Hello schouke. It sounds as if you are off to a good start. Long may it continue. Stick with us and you’re bound to find success.

Good night all, and good morning elsewhere.

    Smiffy x

Hi all, it’s late here, I have been working on my family tree and had to share. It seems that my great, great grandfather came from America – name Meteay. The name was changed to Metcalf after he arrived in England. I cannot believe it? It’s no wonder my friends say I am very un-English in my personality. So far one side Irish and the other half American. Goodness knows where my other Great Grand- parents originated, probably France or maybe Italy, the way this is going it could be the North Pole. What fun!

Choir rehearsal again tonight, went well, ready for performance on Saturday at Turner Centre Gallery. Looking forward to hearing the steel band again. Singing Shoshalosa, it sounds great. Melodians(steel Band) will have everyone dancing.

    Hi everyone

Just a quick check-in. Fasting went well yesterday, whisker under 400C for the day. Being very moderate today, standard FD breakfast and banana so far at nearly 11.30am. Salad with small can of tuna for lunch, weight training after work then veg pie I made on Sunday for dinner, 300C/serve so should be well under 1000C for day even with café latte thrown in. A little nod towards no fasting on Monday 🙂

jojo, family history is certainly addictive. Considering I always found history boring at school, I’m a complete convert when people’s daily lives are involved. Even more so when these people are one’s ancestors – the best sort of detective story.

Welcome Schouke, as Smiffy says, you are off to a good start. Keep us up to date with your progress and possible occasional regress (it happens to all of us). The good thing about this way of living is there’s always tomorrow to get back in the saddle.

Happy Wednesday all and keep up the good work. N.
