  • Woke up, workout (20 min), no-cal 36 hour fast, nap, work, work, nap, refreshed, USA soccer, probably sleep later.

    Good evening all,
What a busy day. I have just been food shopping after badminton. We had a new player tonight and he was very, very good. Better to play with him than against him that’s for sure. Still managed to win some games though. Also ballroom fitness was easy today, oh God, that means stepping it up to the advanced class on Fridays. It’s not the physical work I dread it’s remembering all the steps. Help – what foods are good for improving memory?

Steps today 14, 135 – short because the dog walk was cut short due to my dog ripping his dressing off, little s###. I had to carry him back to the car, he was squirming the whole way but I couldn’t get any dirt in the open wound, he still has his stitches in.

Yogalates was very strong today, we had a new teacher, bloody fit bendy one, but I enjoyed it, wonder if my back will be ok tomorrow.

Cancelled my bowls tonight as dog sitting, he is so freaked by me leaving him now, it’s a total pain.

Yummy dinner tonight, two lamb chops, mash, peas, corn and asparagus followed by peaches and custard. Didn’t count the calories – what the hell I needed some red meat, potatoes and veg – it was great.

I won a bowl of fruit in a raffle I entered at the choir event, if only it had been a week at a luxury health farm!

Weather not great today, sadly. Our Sports day is not looking good at the moment.

Found a new dress for my 40’s night in my wardrobe, one I bought two years ago, still with tags because it was ridiculously small, looks great now – happy days. I am planning on taking in most of my dresses and skirts but won’t waist my time on trousers. Another retirement job.

Ply – I do not want to hear the word ‘treat’ until you are 7 pounds lighter….. OK?
Your plans sound great – but have a weekly target not 7 weeks. Agree about 24 hour fast, it is a bugger. My ex husband sounds just like your partner – starves most of every day and eats mostly junk food but he is piling it on now in his 50s – beware.
1600 is too high for a dieter – sorry but you may need to bring it down especially with quite a low body weight – I don’t go over 1200 most non fast days – forget the charts- do what works. Are you eating too much fibre or not enough?

SAMM – that job is going to kill you, but you will have a nice slim coffin. I don’t think we even have tinned pumpkin in this country, never seen it.

Fran – go girl – how many steps?

Deelite – what daily calorie count are you working to with you very active lifestyle? Or are you not counting just eating healthily.

I am going to be in the 13 stones by the end of this week, decision made, 3.5 pounds to lose. I really want to hit 13 st 9 lbs minimum by the end of this month. I am thinking of skipping breakfast on non fast days, what do you think? Then early lunch at 12 soup plus small amount of protein and fruit.

I have also decided to add in another swim per week, my arms( now flabby) need to work harder, rest of my body seems ok at the moment, no stretch marks or sagging skin, thank goodness, still loads of stomach fat but waist shrinking daily.

Just what I needed, Jojo, some tough love! No treats for me!
I agree that 1600 calories is too much for a dieter, but that was only happening once per week. Part of the appeal of IF for me is being able to eat “normally” some days. I am wiling to cut back for the time being.

Skipping breakfast may work for you…it would be more like a 16:8 fast. No reason not to give it a try!

Agree about a weekly goal, and I will set it at 2.5 pounds per week! And I will reach it!

    Ply24mp:

Your 2.5 pounds loss per week goal may be a bit aggressive. Given your TDEE of 1600, you would need to eat a diet that averaged about 350 calories per day to lose that much that fast. It can be done, but it will be very hard.

    Good Luck!

Thanks, Simvoeluv, but my diet results do not support the “eat 3500 calories less and lose a pound” idea, so I am undeterred. In fact, prior to my current stuck scale, I was averaging 2.25 pounds per week loss, with average calories per day between 1100 and 1200.

SAMM this is not a fast day item but great for moderate feast days when you want a breakfast on the run (I eat mine at work) or even for a dessert (would divide in half for a treat….eat a whole one for breakfast. These really satisfy the craving for a bread-like item and no flour at all. Its written in Yank (cups and TBS) …hope you have a handy translater. I LOVE these.

    Pumpkin Pie Almond Meal Muffins

Makes 6 large mini-Bundt muffins (4 inches across x 2 in deep for each mold)

1 1/2 cup canned pure pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)…this is the full
    can less ¼ cup
    2 1/4 cups blanched almond meal/flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    3/4 tsp teaspoon baking soda
    1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon*
    1 tsp ground nutmeg*
    1/2 tsp ground ginger*
    ¼ tsp ground cloves*
    3 TBS oil
3/4 cup sugar or sugar substitute equivalent ( I use ½ cup measurable
Splenda and 2 TBS of Truvia)
2 Tbs coconut milk, regular full fat milk or heavy cream
    3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla (and I throw in ¼ tsp of bourbon or brandy as well for deeper flavor)

*could probably skip all the separate spices and just do 1 TBS pumpkin pie spice.

Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

Spray mini-bundt muffin pan with Baker’s spray

Divide batter between the 6 mini-bundt muffin cups.

Bake at 350° for 50 minutes (25 min for regular muffins size)
    Cool for 15 min.

    Makes 8 large Bundt muffins

    CAL 302 CARBS 7.3 w. Splenda /Truvia

Hope this is something that will work for you. I make a batch (6) of these every other week or so and wrap them in wax paper and put them in zip lock freezer bags. Then take one out as I need them for breakfast. They are a good solid breakfast that will keep you full for well until lunch or beyond.

    Ply:

TDEE of 1600, eating 1100, 500 cal. a day deficit, 3500 per week and losing over 7000 per week in fat.

    You are a medical marvel.

And very fortunate for being able to lose so much so fast! Wish I could lose like that.

    What is your secret?

I make a similar pumpkin muffin for my paleo friends when we have staff breakfasts at work!

    Ply:

You have a recipe for riches. Make them, box them, sell them and retire. I’ll take a dozen if you promise I’ll lose two pounds for every one I eat!

Simcoeluv, despite being a math teacher, I do not believe weight loss is only about the calorie math! Secrets include high fiber, low to no processed carbs, lots of water, lots of activity, good fats, zero noodles…wish I knew for sure what makes a real difference and what doesn’t. I really believe the main thing is the fasting, Even with same calories, it somehow results in more loss than consistent number of calories every day.

    Ply:

Mind over math. I like it!

Also, I am certainly not the only one on this thread who has had such results. We are all quite marvelous, of course!

SAMM one more….have never tried but looks good. Calls for cooking fresh pumkin in broth but cannot see why you could not start with canned pumpin and dilute it with canned vegetable broth (or chicken broth for non vegetarians) until you got the thickness that suited you.

Here is a link Moroccan Pumpkin Soup top it with yogurt and fresh cilantro/corriander

    http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/moroccan-pumpkin-soup-chorbat-al-qaraa-10000001867567/

Its 91 calories a serving but the serving is only 2/3 cup. I would be eating two of those …2/3 cup is itsy bitty.

    Good morning Fast trackers,
Well this thread has been active, it’s 7 am here and I am writing this instead of eating breakfast.

Ply – I agree with you 100%, it’s not all about the calories. If you want to lose 2.5 lbs and can eat high fibre, low carb, low fat, low sugar, high water consumption, you will lose it in one week easily. I firmly believe in fresh not processed food, digests easier and travels through the body quicker with better results. Fish including seafood( beware of farmed fish, highly toxic and salmon is the error many dieters make) and veg work better than any other proteins. 90 % of my diet includes fish and veg, eggs are my second choice, then cottage cheese. Rarely have red meat but still like it occasionally. Fruit is great but berries work better than apples and bananas. Sorry but alcohol is a no no for me, liquid sugar- it’s a fact. Nobody should need to have a drink, that signifies addiction, I find it is wasted use of calories – it is your mindset that will determine whether you succeed.

I mainly stick to 1200ish by healthy eating but I eat according to what my hunger is telling me. I stop when full not when the plate is empty, I eat from a tea plate, I have more if I want/ need it. I don’t count calories but record on fitness pal the next day so I know where I am at. This stop me having more than
I need because of having calories left over (which must be used).

I am losing 2 lb plus per week without difficulty provided I follow this formulae. I also don’t think it is about exercise but I think it’s important for toning and well being. I actually loose more by not doing exercise, it’s a fact that I have tested many times. I believe that exercise is the diet key we need to help us continue on the diet, endorphines I suppose. Currently I take vitamins and odd supplements which I believe help. Medications are definately a negative and can undo any work, but sadly for some they are necessary.

Most importantly keep changing exercise routines, foodstuffs and have fun with friends. It definately is mind over math, intelligent use of your calories working on your own unique plan for eating healthily. We all make diet mistakes on this thread but sympathy is not helpful. New ideas are helpful to avoid future mistakes. Plan your snack in advance usually nuts or fruit.

    Wow what a rant

Sim – you can lose 2 lb, get out of your mathematical mindset – positive thinking!

Forgot to mention another pound down after yesterday’s fast – hooray

    Hooray, indeed, Jojo!!

Ply, we are a force to be reckoned with on this thread. We will not accept tradition or ‘the voice of reason’ only the voice of health, fitness and results. Go girl! 2.5 lbs, you can do it.
P.s. Didn’t miss breakfast, just finished lunch chicken and pea homemade soup and boiled eggs, weird but filling.

    Good morning, fast trackers 🙂

jojo, congratulations on more pounds lost 🙂

LUVTCOOK, that pumpkin muffin recipe sounds great!

Another busy day ahead of me — sixteen days in a row without a real day off as I get used to my new schedule — not getting my needed 10 hours of sleep a day — weight up a pound and a half overnight in spite of 12,000 steps, retaining water — need some rest — hopefully this afternoon! We will see! Boiling hot temperatures predicted here today, summer is on its way.

Hey Fran, I think maintenance is going to be the hardest part of this diet. Perhaps you should do one and half day fasting for three months then cut down to one. Just a suggestion.
I have read that lots of people are regaining because they are heading back into ‘normal’ eating post 5:2
Good luck, supporting you especially as you are leading us forward

Blueberries and green peas R IMHO best for brain memory and cognitive function.
Sorry just an opinion though. The issue with supplements for memory is. It’s better to ask your doctor!

Typical supplements can harm hippocampus if you suddenly stop. So don’t take memory supplements just because of their marketing. Really understand it. The issue is how it interacts with other supplements , can make hippocampus shrink. Like really be sure K!

Try the brain calisthenics instead. To exhausted right now, to go on a search, But it’s doing math everyday, memorizing a few sequences everyday, Making art, making music, exercise. And. Bam bam bam baaaaaaaa fasting! 😉

    Thanks SAMM,
Well I do art weekly, sing in a choir, do lots of exercise, fast 2 days a week minimum, learn Spanish so I guess that just leaves daily mathematics. Please God save me from suduko, I would rather have a brain transplant. How about card games? I love the maths involved in Crib although it’s fairly simplistic. I suppose I could add up my shopping before I get to the counter. Hhhhmmmm what else? I could learn another musical instrument I suppose or take up piano again( years since I played). I know crosswords are good for memory but I find them a little dull. I suppose I could learn a new word from the dictionary each day. To be honest I think my memory problems may be over stimulation not under. Might just add some more relaxation in instead.
I have been promising myself an Epsom Salts bath, now that sounds just the ticket, I could definately fit that in on fast days.

    How are you all doing?
I am just back from choir, we are learning a new song called Shosholosa)African-really good.

I skipped breakfast this morning and honestly did not miss it. We will see if it makes any difference after a week. Just have to keep thinking up new strategies. I am enjoying having potato back in my life. You cannot beat a jacket potato even if it does only have cottage cheese on top.

    LUVTCOOK
I have missed your delicious recipes but we agreed on this thread to put recipes on a thread started by Fran, under recipes for challenge thread, that way it’s not too much agony for those who are fasting to read this thread.

Off to bed now, need to finish my book for tomorrow nights book club, late night again.
Sorry to report I will also be having a curry tomorrow night so I cut calories to 1000 today in preparation. Fasting all day tomorrow too, I know this restaurant well, the food is unbelievably good.

Getting my trampet on Thursday – great – plyometrics here I come.

Put recipe on only because asked. Will be happy to post them to anyplace you wish. And I only post what I consider good healthy weight loss compatible.

What is the thead Fran has?

    Good evening, fast trackers 🙂

LUVTCOOK, look for ‘Recipes for the challenge thread’ under ‘forum’ -> ‘the official fast forums’ -> ‘food’ -> ‘Recipes and meal plans’

jojo, today I finally got back up to my goal weight of 117, after going under it by three pounds, which is good, because I have a fasting day planned for tomorrow. I agree that maintenance is critical, and is apparently usually quite difficult, with few people maintaining their weight loss a year later, although 5:2 has not been around long enough for us to really know yet if people are having better success with maintaining after losing weight with it. There is a thread called ‘Thank you Dr M for my success!’ where people are talking maintenance. Some people stay on 4:3, some on 5:2, some people use varying combinations and degrees of 16:8 days and low-carb eating, it seems that a lucky few manage on 6:1. Since my weight dropped lower than I was comfortable with when I dropped from 4:3 to 5:2, I decided to switch to 6:1 until it stayed within my maintenance range, then go back up to 5:2 if my weight starts staying in the upper end of my maintenance range of 115-119. So, if it’s hovering 115-117, do 6:1; if 117-119, do 5:2, and see how that goes. I will also get some blood work done, hopefully within the next month, and if my triglycerides are high I will cut sugars and refined starches to an even greater degree than I already have, since my waist:hip ratio is still > 0.80 even though I’ve lost as much weight as I reasonably should lose. From the reading I’ve done on maintenance it appears that things start to get really difficult once you regain more than about 2 kg or 5 pounds. So I don’t plan to let my weight rise more than 2 pounds above my goal weight of 117. You pretty much have to allow yourself 2 pounds for the body’s normal random water weight fluctuations. So at this point I am weighing myself daily. Losing 40 pounds was hard work, and I feel (and look) so much better, I’m not going to throw that away! The weird thing is that I feel like I’m actually eating rather a lot and staying 115-117. Like, eating as much as I was at 157. Maybe I’m really not, but have changed my habits; maybe I really am, but it’s OK since I now walk a lot more; but I feel pleasantly surprised almost every morning when I get on the scale. It’s like I expected the weight to try to come roaring back at me with a vengeance, but that has not happened so far. I expect that it’s actually more likely to happen 3-6 months down the road when people start getting complacent. It really is wonderful to feel motivated to continue fasting for the health benefits. I miss fasting as much as I was before, but really did not feel or look good below 115, cannot afford keep up a fasting schedule that causes me to lose more weight. I’m really looking forward to fasting tomorrow 🙂

I had a good PT appointment today, am working hard on my balance, which totally sucks. Four new upper-body exercises were added to my at-home routine 🙂

I also took care of some business related to the recent death in my family, not fun to do, but at least that bit is done.

9,500 steps today, temperatures went to 91F (33C) — not so much fun walking around the city!

    Good morning, Franfit!

It seems to me that one of the keys to maintenance is knowing what works for you for weight loss (you do), and having a plan with built-in limits (you do), as well as keeping the good eating and exercise habits (you will). People run into trouble and weight gain when they have a “Phew, glad that dieting business is over!” mindset, or have been following a program that is unsustainable over the long term in the real world. I think IF is very different in that regard, with its flexibility (5:2, 4:3, 6:1, 16:8, etc.) and the change to habits that it engenders, especially the ability to manage hunger and eat when truly hungry.

You are our maintenance guru, so keep up the good work!

Forecast is temps into the 90s, so trying to find something cool but professional to wear to work. Have a great day, everyone!

Made a big batch of your tomato soup last night, Luvtocook…had it for a fast day dinner, and will enjoy a cup before nonfast dinners as well. Yummy!

    Good morning fast trackers,
You will not believe it but I lost weight in a non fast day( a first for me). Another half a pound down. The result is overslept today, madness I never do that, didn’t even hear the alarm. Had to rush to work, just as well I wasn’t planning on breakfast.
Had a big lunch today, thought I probably needed it ( soup and toast) slippery slope that bread eating, must be more disciplined.
Indian meal tonight, I will have to avoid the naan bread.
    Fran – all sounds great.
LUVTCOOK – thanks for your understanding about the recipes, some of us are weak willed( well I am anyway)
Ply – how is it going

    Good morning, fast trackers 🙂

ply, thank you for the encouragement!

jojo, congratulations on another half pound lost!

SAMM, I agree, supplements not always a good idea, exercise and a healthy body weight are actually best first steps for brain protection, plus keeping the mind occupied, apparently things that involve solving problems while using your hands are especially good because you use more different parts of your brain together. So even knitting and embroidery are good for brain health, who knew!

117.2 this AM, fasting today, feels good. Chores in AM, work and walking in PM. Temps expected up in the 90sF (~33C) again today! Will see what fresh fish is at the market, if nothing appeals, then spinach and mushroom frittata this evening, I think.

Mmm, spinach and mushroom frittata sounds good!

Jojo, thanks for checking, all is going well. Fasted yesterday (425 cal, Fiber One for breakfast, hard boiled eggs for lunch, Asian cabbage salad and curry tomato soup for dinner). 1.7 of the pesky 3 pounds gone this morning, and I have 2 more fast days this week. Excited to break through the 10 stone barrier soon!

One adjustment I am considering is to simplify my food choices for the next 6 weeks, i.e., rotate a few simple meals for lunches and dinners, especially on fast days. On non-fast days, I will add more protein and some nuts and seeds to increases the calories a bit. I love to cook and try new recipes, so I tend to spend a lot of time looking at food sites, but I think I will just stay away from them for this time period. It should mean less time in the kitchen and less time thinking about food, which can only help, I suppose! Current list includes Asparagus Salad with Eggs, Quorn Buffalo Lettuce Wraps, Butternut Ratatouille, Buffalo Chicken Sausage and Spinach, Miso Soup, Curried Tomato Soup, and Broccoli Slaw with Tomato Sauce.

I will still cook “regular” meals for my husband, but no problem there, since our schedules make it so that we do not eat together most nights anyway.

Non-fast 16:8 today, laying low to beat the heat!

Ply- your menu sounds top notch, I am really boring with my recipes so perhaps I have inadvertently been helping my diet. You would never want ‘more’ of anything I cook. Shame is, I am a real foodie, love exotic food, restaurants. I have never devoted much time to cooking. I can do a roast, several good casseroles and curries, and omelette – not exactly cordon bleu. One of my best friends is a chef so I am lazy. I promise to make more effort when I am not working. Suspect everything will be budget then though. My husband is hanging on to our joint property for another year so only a very small pension( hopefully pay my bills) to live on. I suspect he thinks I will go back to him, starved out, but he is so wrong, I have never been happier than I am now, on my own, it’s great. I must be a very selfish person, I guess, it’s such a relief not organising him and my kids( both over 24 now) I only have the dogs to think about now.
LUVTCOOK – I envy you your cooking ability, made more of your soup – lovely.
Fran – god you are so on top of this maintenance, hopefully you will have soved all the issues before I get there. Still 4 stone to go, how depressing, but I have now cracked the stone off since this thread was started so it’s all good. It would be a real bonus if I can lose again on a non fast day because I did not factor that in to my calculations and goal setting.

Sitting in the warm sun looking out over the sparkling blue Channel, sailing boats on the horizon, slight cool breeze, heaven. Birds singing in the background, cup of tea to drink and a book to read( not the greatest book I have ever read) digging to America by Anne Tyler. Give me science fiction any day, even historical drama but save me from dull. Can’t believe it was short listed for the Orange Prize 2007, must have been a bad year. They say everyone has a book in them, I hope mine is like Harry Potter.

Mind you I got soaked in sports day practise this morning. Winding down after tomorrow. Focus no longer academic but personal, social and emotional in the lead up to school transition, for some they will need to learn to cope with bigger kids. We do lots of role play scenarios to prepare then for bullies.

God just checked my steps out, need to get a wriggle on, only half way there, yikes.

How are you enjoying you day? Build a picture, let’s get creative or maybe just lie, visualise you perfect scenario.

Just saw a tip for adding protein on another site: Use nonfat milk powder. I may try tonight to turn my tomato soup into creamy tomato soup. Nonfat milk powder had 61 calories and 6g protein per 1/4 cup. Will not dilute soups or sauces as liquid milk would, and supplies protein and calcium without eating more solid food.

    Ply,
Cunning plan, let me know how it goes, I love soup.
I think I am going to investigate pulses – I have never really used many in cooking and need to consider saving money as well as getting healthy. Let you know how it goes.

    Jo xx

    Hi All,
I feel I have let myself down tonight, probably lost my chance of losing 3.5 lbs this week.
So much for my good intentions I have just returned ‘sheepishly’ from my book club Indian meal, I did not resist anything, especially the peshwari naan and onion barghee, unfortunately – it all smelt fantastic and tasted incredible. Only drank water and tea though, so not all bad. Thank goodness tomorrow is a fast day.

I have a very sociable weekend coming up, out Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I am going to need to step up the discipline and steps to counter the food. Aiming for 15,000 steps each day. Two dog walks 4,000 each, daily bowls 3500, shopping 1,500 housework 2000. Exercise ball tv watching 1000 for an hour.

    Heaven help me !
I need a good telling off Ply, keep on my case, tough love is the order of the day now.

Even Heaven can’t save you from that devil bread, Jojo! You knew it was a slippery slope yesterday, and you let yourself slide right down. Put on your hikers, grab your dog leashes, and climb back up! You are our fearless leader, don’t let us down!

On the positive side, you know very well that a few pieces of naan cannot undo all the good work you have done. I have no doubt that you will be back on track immediately.

Do not, I repeat, do not, step on the scale tomorrow! Wait until Friday morning after fasting Thursday at least! I will be fasting alongside, though from afar, tomorrow.

Hello everyone! I haven’t posted anything for a few days, it was hard to keep up with all those recipes!!

I might try with the milk powder too if I can find some!

I have been in 54kg bracket twice this week after fasting! Yay finally! Small victories, but I can see it gradually going down! This moring was 54.8kg from 55.2. Which is almost 1lb.

Onwards and upwards! (Or downwards in this case)

Jojo- sociable events are the hardest times for me to resist. But to stay away from extra drinks or food, just keep talking and being sociable and you’ll have no chance to put food in your mouth!!! Haha

Last night I went to the circus! It was a really beautiful show! But everytime I see a circus or dancers or anything like that, it makes me want to learn something new and crazy. I might just start by juggling…..

    Ply,
Hearing you loud and clear. But there are no leaders here, it’s a team, all stumbling along trying to be super heros( well diet wise). No scales till post Monday fast I promise. Sports Day today so I will keep on my feet all morning. Walking with dog pm, only one still able to walk far other hasn’t had stitched removed yet.

Focussing on ‘quick gain, quick loss’

I know one very high calorie meal can undo two days work, tragic but true. Simply will need to avoid Indian Restaurants for the duration or take the consequences. I have proved that control is not an option when faced with the irresistible.

Deelite – I agree, social event are a cross to bear but also a test of your control level, determined to take my medicine and ensure it is not a three day binge, wearing tight clothes with no room to expand(of course they could split) wouldn’t be the first time I have ripped a seam. We really do need to stay off the damn scales, don’t we? Are you joining me for ‘no weigh’ July challenge? A whole month – my daughter said she will take my scales away – seriously I cannot be trusted – but imagine the result if seeing a 7 lb drop in one weigh, got to be worth it.

Thanks guys, I will keep in touch and on track, I can do it, I will do it.

Good luck Ply, let me know if you win your challenge.

    Hi
For me when I used to over eat at restaurant I would have emotions about it. That was when I first started though. Once I knew I could lose weight with fasting I had a lot more confidence that 12-18 fasts a month was more effective on my weight than doing nothing at all. After 6 months I stopped the weekly weigh ins especially I had been to dinners with family or friends. My opinion has been that life is too short not enjoy good food and good times with friends and family. It’s the fasts when I’m alone that more control over. By keeping a journal , I could look back and see 1 I didn’t miss out on good times 2 I was still in the active and fasting lifestyle. 3 I knew what foods trigger binging.

    Good luck and best wishes.

Jojo- yeh I think I will try that challenge! After my weigh in at work next Saturday…. I Guess it will make us have to listen to our bodies more rather relying on the scale to whether we ate too much or not

Thanks all, makes it so much easier knowing you are all out there, my cyber chums.
At least I can be really, really good today. It has been a lesson, thought I could handle temptation but I couldn’t. I will ensure lots of fresh fruit is around at my social events this weekend.

Yes, Jojo, we are a team, but you have to at least accept the mantle of “founding member”! I think SAMM makes a good point…we have to enjoy the special times with friends and family while we can, even if that means we have to work extra hard afterward. It is empowering to know that we can do so! I have had a lot of family events over the past few months with more coming up this summer, and one huge change for me is that I am no longer mindlessly eating every appetizer that passes my way. Instead, I am making choices based on my hunger and whether the treat is worth the calories. I think you are doing the same, choosing water and tea for drinks, but indulging in delicious naan. You are in control, and you made a choice.

I will have to think about the no weigh challenge! Not sure if I am up to it!

I am down another 1.1 pounds this morning, after a non-fast day yesterday. I did 16:8, and consumed 1148 calories in all, most of them via a Greek salad with grilled chicken for lunch. Only .4 pounds to go to be back at my lowest weight during IF, and I am fasting today and Saturday. A rare weekend without a social event coming up, so I have no doubt that I can knock off at least another pound. So far I have lost 2.8 this week!

Deelite, juggling sounds fabulous! I am sure that fits into the brain-building new activities that SAMM and Franfit have been talking about!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Just 4 more school days for me until summer break!

Farmer’s Market starts tonight in the next town over (Plymouth, where the original Brits landed in 1620!), so I am looking forward to some fresh veggies for dinner!

The addition of nonfat milk powder to the tomato soup was successful. Made it just a bit smoother and creamier, and toned down the acid of the tomatoes. I added 2 tablespoons of dried milk to 2 cups of soup. It dissolves almost instantly.

You are all fantastic. Off to sports day now. I don’t Finnish school until 22nd July, lucky you

Ply- good job on your weight lose after a non- fast day! For me that is hard to do. But I sure by next weekend I can be 54.0 if I’m really good 🙂

Yeh thinking about ordering some juggling balls because I dropped my orangEs to many time haha. I actually started to learn aerial silks and trapeze last year but then I moved back to England and I really miss it. I’m going to see if I can find someone to teach me here

I lived in Plymouth for a year, it’s pretty down there and amazing weather. I went to a seafood market once on the Hoe, it was great.

3rd Fast of the week, going well. Cereal and porridge so far and lots of water!
Hoping for another loss this week, I’ve fasted well so hopefully I will be rewarded!

Bought a new bikini at the weekend for Mexico and have to say my tummy is looking more toned than ever! Not as toned as I would like but there are definite abs that I haven’t seen before 🙂

Yay for this amazing weather and 2 weeks to Mexico!!
    Happy fasting xxxx

Good for you, Amzta! Have fun on your vacation!

I am near Plymouth in the States; I think you lived in Plymouth, England! Either way, it’s a nice spot!

    Hi Amzta,
Have a great holiday in Mexico, I envy you both the holiday and the flat stomach but my time will come.
Ply – well done you, glad you are flying the flag., glad to see you proved that you could lose 2.5 lbs in a week, I have done 4 so knew you could manage it, complete confidence in you.
There is a problem with enjoying the special times, I have so many events to attend, I will never succeed if I relax at them. It’s sad but true. I can probably relax one day a week at most, I usually make that on Sunday. We have a barbecue this Sunday, probably the worst of all temptations. I am going to make salad and bring fresh fish to grill. There will also be birthday cake, so ?I am going to make it, chocolate because I don’t like that. Best laid plans – we will see?
My fast is going well today, avoided a bacon butty(sandwich) from the beach cafe after Sports Day on the beach. (god I really wanted one, the smell)

I have been analysing my diet this week and have noticed that I have been slipping in lots of ways, not drinking enough water, not drinking fruit but ordinary tea with milk, eating breakfast biscuits( although calorie counted). It is definately time for refocusing my effort and I have decided to add another fast tomorrow with a weigh in Sat. You never know I might be able to hit my 3.5 goal after all – watch this spot!

Off to do my 6500 step balance before it tips it down here, this weather is crazy, sun, cloud, rain, wind all in the same hour, you never know what to wear.

Deelite – it’s all the little things you need to watch, they add up and undermine your efforts. I hope you meet your goal, good luck. My son learnt to juggle and ride a uni cycle, looks easier than it actually is, the rest of us got many a bruise trying. But the key to juggling is to start with very lightweight scarves(chiffon), even I can do it with them.

    Chat later guys

You are right, Jojo, with the number of social events that you cannot relax all the time, but I still say once in awhile, when it is really worth it, you can choose to!
It is an excellent strategy to bring your own food that is health-friendly when you attend events. You know I am rooting for you to meet your goal, and I would bet money that you will!

My brother asked me to bake my niece’s birthday cake for next week, and I am happy that chocolate is her favorite. Like you, chocolate cake is easy for me to resist!

Also, 100% agree with the little things matter!

Ply- Thanks 😀 Oh! Wrong Plymouth haha! It’s funny how there are so many places in the states that are named after UK places. I’m sure I looked it up once and there are several Edinburghs! What state is Plymouth, USA in?

Jojo – Thanks Jojo, its much needed! Your time will come indeed 😉 Well done resisting that bacon roll! I bet I would have folded 🙂 I say enjoy a tiny slice of birthday cake – life is all about small pleasures. Just be extra good on your fast days (which I know you are!).

Its a beautiful day here in Edinburgh so it’s ‘Taps Aff’ weather as we say haha! Too many jiggly bellies on show for my liking :/

    xxx

Plymouth is in Massachusetts, the Cradle of Liberty! Threw over King George III right here! Glad we can be friends again. 🙂

    Hi All,
On 13,442 steps but not done yet, off bowling later(10 pin), should bump it up to 15,000. Been very good food wise and trying to catch up on my water allowance, should get the last pint drunk before bedtime.

Amzta – talking of wobbly bellies – my new trampet arrived today – I can assure you I have a generous wobble factor during my exercise session. Hopefully it will go in the next six months.

    Strange
I have found it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning this week, not usual for me, usually I leap out when the alarm goes off. Anyone else had this problem? Could it be lack of carbs?

Just as well I gave up having breakfast this week because I would not have had time to eat anything, literally wash and dressing time only.

Ply – have to agree this audacious little country (England)definately took liberties abroad but has learned it’s lesson and now keeps it head down(on the whole). My roots are Irish, paternal Grandmother, a real character of 4ft 3 ins who had 16 children including two sets of twins and one set of triplets. She married an Englishman when she was 16 and ended up living in England. She considered herself very lucky to live in London instead of her very poor homeland(sad isn’t it, preferring 3 square meals in smoggy old London compared to her beautiful country of green valleys). Employment is a powerful motive to change your location.

Hope all your fasts went well today, looking forward to my extra fast tomorrow.
