  • Hi Hermaj,

Sorry about your bears (and your MIL 🙂 )

For mine, with her son, I think there’s an element of buying clothes that she would like to see him wear, but also almost scent marking (‘I dress him, he’s still mine’).

But at least she buys him clothes in his size!

She bought me a light jacket at Christmas in a size 12. I churlishly told her it was too big but not so outsize that I would take it back. She replied that her friend who was also a size 8 had advised her to buy the 12 because that gave you room to layer jumpers underneath it. So I reminded her that I don’t feel the cold as she does (she’s only known me 25 years!), and I didn’t really want to look like Michelin man. Oh well, she replied, at least it will still fit you when you put weight on!!

There is a word, but it’s not very pilite… 🙂

    Hello everyone..
Time for an update. Very impressed by the size of our baby elephant put together by Jojo, is it a girl or a boy do we know? And how are we all going to get to the christening????!!!!!!!!
I am doing a fast day today, have done 18 hours again and feeling very pleased with myself. My OH is at work so having a day of catching up with chores. The only problem today is that I managed to get my thumb caught in my car door and it’s bruised and throbbing.Such a stupid thing to do, I could kick myself!!
Anyway,I will survive it I’m sure.I’m mostly upset because I won’t now be able to have the manicure I was going to give myself for my birthday next week.(Boohoo.)
    Better get on I suppose!
    WN.

I’m sprinting to catch up with the last thread. Wonderful threads
    I’ve been away.

Still managing 3 Fd per week and weight going down in 100g increments or maybe decriments??. The large losses of the beginning of the FD are absent at present.

Enjoy your London meeting, Amazon JoJo and Smiffy.
Hi Hermaj, good to see you back.

Only a month left in NZ before the shift back to spring!
I will get back into the thread and comment soon.
    It’s great to be back.
    XX Wiwi

Mornin’ all. Well even though I was up last week, this week I’ve removed all but 200g of the gain. Tape measure still loves me though, 😆 , as it shows an overall loss of 1.5cm.

It’s my friend at work’s birthday today so last night I made a lovely card and envelope for her. I hope she likes it as it was different to the ones I’ve usually made, as I was using a bokeh style first layer with sentiment and embellishments on top of that. I’ll let you know tonight what the result was 😀

I haven’t updated/checked posts since going to bed last night so I hope everyone is doing well too 🙂 … I’m determined to be back on the losing side again for next week. I’m increasing my Wii activities … concentrating on a little yoga and balance exercises to get my core strength developed along with some step and boxing for aerobic/muscle toning.

Still no eggs from the chooks but that will hopefully change soon 😆 one or two are getting the real chicken noises happening where the others are still brrrr’ing rather than braak’ing (IYKWIM).

I’ll go back and check posts once I’ve got this posted 😀

Hermaj and Izzy (any anyone else this relates to) I may be blessed in that I have never had a MIL but did have a SIL from Hell!!! Nothing I ever did was right (like buying a house instead of renting – you lose money don’t you know). However I was deemed a nasty MIL (I never expected anyone to cook or iron for my boys as I taught them how to do that themselves including mending!!!) but I was unreasonable as I wanted to see my son/grandson(s) at least once per month (we lived 2km from them) and for more than 10 to 15 minutes but she was with her mother for at least 3 to 4 hours each day (they lived 2km the opposite way from us). Oh yes and I could never look after their son(s) as I wouldn’t know how to look after them properly!!! Luckily for me they split up (she found someone else before kicking my son out on the eve of their eldest son’s 5th birthday) and since then I’ve seen my grandsons at least once per month often weekly. The person she found and is still with? He’s only 2 years younger than me!!!

    Peace RT

    Good morning everyone.

    Wow, you are so chatty!

Hope the London meeting is going well girls and that the weather is good.

Hi Hermaj – good to hear from you. We have to keep raging against ageism.

Hi Wiwi, long time no ‘see’.

Nama, thanks for thinking of me yesterday, you were right, a very busy day but it went well. One of the best bits was that I was so busy I didn’t think about food. Had an editorial committee meeting afterwards where there was cinnamon cake and jam drops but had come so far, I was able to just have a cup of black tea without feeling tempted. The ‘force’ has been strong with me this week as I managed 23hr fasting window yesterday on the 3rd FD of the week 😉 Picked up some silver whiting fillets for dinner on the way home; for me 170g microwaved for 2 minutes with a dusting of chicken salt and wrapped in baking paper – yummo! Rewarded at weigh in this morning with 2.3kg loss for the week. 😆 Still 1.4kg of Christmas flab to go but it won’t take long with 3 FDs/week until Easter.

Had a jolt at the mention of Pancake Day as it’s always observed in our house and I had it down for next week. Not observed for particular religious reasons, more cultural, like Christmas and Easter. Began wondering if I had miscounted the dates – thankfully not so. It will be a FD for me, we’ll be having low-cal spag bol sauce (my usual recipe) served in crepes for OH with a dusting of parmesan. I have mine wrapped in steamed cabbage leaf ‘pancakes’ but good nonetheless. Would have enough cals for crepes but for the carbs.

OH has just woken up so time to start the day here.

Keep up the good work everyone. n

NickyF 2.3kg in a week is amazing fantastic 3 FD good skills and sound knowledge i do hear the old meadow lea jingle playing in the background “you ought to be congratulated” 😆
    RT

Well done with the new job, Nicky. I’m sure they were impressed!
Hi wiwi. Sorry to hear you are dropping your uphill grocery carrying regime for the spring weather en France. It’s been nice having you as a ‘local’ for a while 😉
AO, well done on your success. So many kilos and cms disappearing from everyone. Fabulous.
Have you considered how much less time it takes to iron a shirt or dress that is a smaller size? How much more room we have in theatre and aeroplane seats? Wining all ’round!
Can’t wait to hear how the Kew crowd got on. Are they still out talking??
Keep up the good work everyone P 🙂

Sorry. Missed you RT. Have a great TGIF mate! 😉

    Well done, Nicky

What a great loss in one week. 😆

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    Hello everyone.

    It’s been a great day 😛
Jojo and Smiffy are staying 5 minutes from where I live so I met them at their hotel. We went for a light lunch in a pub on Kew Green and then spent a couple of hours in Kew Gardens which was enough time for a good look round. 42,000 steps between us to work up an appetite for dinner………
We went to a Japanese restaurant, and opted for a tasting menu. I don’t know if it was authentic Japanese food, but it was very good, every dish was a new experience and we just about left the pattern on the plates. We had sushi and sashimi, a mixture of tuna, yellowfin tuna and salmon, salad and cooked dishes of tempura prawns, duck stir fry, scallops, seafood rice, mushrooms and sea bass. Dessert was included, two scoops of restaurant made ice cream, one green tea flavour and the other black sesame. They were both excellent!
The restaurant has a good wine list too.
The staff were very friendly and the service was good. All in all a good experience, and I’ll be going back there at the first opportunity.

Tomorrow we are going to Richmond Park, so lots more walking, and maybe some more eating 😉

    Well done Nicky 🙂

What a lovely day you girls have had! I’m surprised you could eat between the talking! 😉

I forgot to mention the teriyaki steak with asparagus 😉

Purple, I think we should find out how many calories gossiping expends……..

PVE right back at ya thanks keep on keeping on
    winner 😎

    Amazon,

The food sounds yummy, and well deserved after all your walking!
Does your fitbit not log jaw exercise also…? 🙂

    Hello all

A quickie, as no wifi and I’m rubbish at emails by phone. As Amazon says, we’ve had a really fun day. Jojo and I nearly spent it at Paddington Station as we couldn’t find the exit, then kept getting different info on tube destinations so got to know the underground fairly well! Two country bumpkins let loose in the big city!

Lots of laughs with Amazon and Jojo, fab meal, now tucked up for a good nights sleep ready for our trip to Richmond Park tomorrow,

    ‘Night all

    Smiffy x

Good night Amazon, JoJo and Smiffy

Glad you are having fun. Enjoy tomorrow

    xxWiwi

    Hello all,

So much great reading on this thread, I used to read the newspaper on-line but its so depressing!
Pleased your first day went well Nicky and what an incredible loss! Good work. Also AO, must be something in the water in SA. Just joking, I know its really your sheer determination!

Amazon thanks for the update when you are obviously so busy! I can picture you all in Richmond Park as we went there when checking out Richmond years ago – husbands grandfather grew up there. My first time seeing squirrels in that park. We were sitting under a big oak and got “bombed” with acorns by the cheeky squirrels above us. Great to hear you are all having such a lovely time. The Japanese food sounds so good!

Cant contribute to the MIL stories as mine was a darling, very lucky. I am sure she bit her lip millions of times, she never once said something to upset me. I just hope I can be the same. Future DIL is gorgeous but can be a tad overemotional, so I need to be careful what I contribute. I am very thick-skinned myself, so have to be really careful around sensitive people! Been married to one for 42 yrs and still get into trouble for offending him!

Looking forward to the next installment from London!
    Cheers x

“Lexophile” is a word used to describe those who have a love for words, especially those set in a new framework – such as “you can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish”, or “to write with a broken pencil is pointless.”
A competition to see who can come up with the best lexophillies is held every year in an undisclosed location. This year’s winning submission is posted at the very end.

    Happy Friday EFB’s
    RT

Oh, RT, rotfl! I have sent these around the office, block ears for gawfs.

And your rule should be written high – Eat Fast and Live Longer!!

    Happy Friday
    B

Love them all RT, no hope for me in that regard though 😆

POETS day today (P**s Off Early Tomorrow’s Saturday) and to top it off I finished work really early today, but off to the hairdressers in a moment.

Glad the London get together is going well … updates will be needed soon 😀 .

Pancakes – oh dear that’s my regular FD … might try to get an extra one in this week too just to get back into gear but not sure yet.

    HaHa RT
Thanks for the diversion as I do the company’s books.
    XX Wiwi

Oh RT! NOTHING beats a good laugh 😆
    Thanks. P

HaHa RT – what a lovely laugh.

Like Barata, sent them to my work mates so they will soon be whizzing around the SA Gov network.

Thanks also for congrats everyone, feeling even more smug when I recalculated and realized it was actually 2.6kg. Obviously at least some is water weight because of last weekend’s cab pigout but some must be fat.

AO, since I haven’t had Friday at work for years, had forgotten about POET’s day. Just love it, and also the mildly shocked look when explained to people with more genteel vocabularies.

Take care everyone, keep up the good work and enjoy the weekend. TGIF indeed! n.

AO loving the Poets Day nicely done 😉

Thankyou all, I learnt something today.. had never heard of POETS day! I guess working shift work in a hospital, we never got the chance. Nicky you would agree its pretty mild if you heard some of the terms people in the medical world use as abbreviations, far too rude for a public forum! Isn’t “P… off” part of our language these days?

Have just made the chicken stirfry from the 5:2 book, smells yum. Needed to make 6 times the volume for 4 of us though as my son eats enough for 3 people. Just shredded huge pile of cabbage and finely sliced 10 carrots! I think I need to buy a proper mandolin, have just burned more calories than I will eat!

    Have a lovely weekend all,
    Cheers x

So annoyed. Trying to book a restaurant for a romantic dinner tonight. No answer. Then I was aware of helicopters circling overhead. Apparently there is a “police operation” going on at our local shops. The place has been evacuated, someone arrested, sirens screaming and virtually no news on radio or internet! That put paid to the dinner date 🙁 P

    O, Purple

What a bother 😉 . Can you set up a romantic dinner for tomorrow then? Wishing you the best of luck. Can you go to the shopping centre on the off chance? We’re having a chocolate filled indulgent weekend. 😆

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

We have, Bay, and the very restaurant I wanted to go to is the one where the bomb threat occurred! Have found another nearby. C’est la vie. The police have the other all cordoned off! Mr P and I will still get dinner, don’t worry. 🙂 P

Lovely to have you back, Wiwi. Are you an accountant / bookkeeper too?

Hope you had a great dinner, P. It must be a bit stressful in the current environment. You were off to the Blu Water Grill? Glad it was just a hoax.

    Good morning Fast Trackers,
What a great day yesterday. Amazon forgot to mention that in the restaurant we sat next to a famous (Rugby)sports personality ) very handsome)and his famous wife (very beautiful and very slim)sports writer and presenter( former gymnast) Now you have to guess who? They have two children. Saying no more!
Must get going, meeting Smiffy for breakfast soon and still lazing in bed. Put some photos on Facebook.
Highlight of yesterday apart from meeting lovely fasting buddies was seeing Henry Moore’s sculpture in Kew Gardens and overcoming my fear if heights to walk the Treetop walk 70 feet above ground level, excellent views. Looking forward to today.
How many calories in Japanese taster menu as described by Amazon? Glad we shared two portions between three of us, great food and service. Fasting friends and fast friends now.

Yes Barata. The alternative wasn’t a patch on Blu Water. A bit of an overreaction it appeared. Very expensive and disruptive. One nutter can cause havoc these days!

Sounds like fun Jojo. I was SO excited when I saw the deer in Richmond Park. My aunt lives nearby. Enjoy your day. 🙂
    Cheers P

    Morning/evening all.

Judging by the colour of the sky, waterproofs will be needed today 🙁
I’m only just out of bed and need to get moving too.

    Have agreat day/evening everyone.

    Hi jojo,

Glad to hear you’re having a great time.

Your ‘guess the personality’ might be a bit difficult for those of outside the UK, and a bit easy for those of us in the UK! There aren’t that many female sports presenters to choose from…. I saw an interesting and shocking documentary a while ago about the appalling treatment of women in professional sport. She’s one strong lady to have got to where she is today.

    Enjoy Richmond Park!

    Hello FTers

Enjoy Richmond Park, JoJo, Smiffy, Amazon!

No, Barata, I’m not an accountant or bookkeeper, but I get to collect the company money- very rudimentary. I studied maths. I tutored at Whitireia Polytech before I left NZ. I guess you are an accountant. Do you work in Wellington?

Enjoy St Valentines day, and Purple I hope you can find somewhere to celebrate it.
For us, maybe fish and chips beside the sea.
    Happy weekend.

Just read back, Purple. Glad you are safe, even if your restaurant of choice was a no go area.

I’ll make a romantic dinner at home tomorrow night, Wiwi. I had been sorting through old paperwork this afternoon and feeling a bit sad with the number of ghosts that came out of old handwritten papers and recipes. Mum, grandma, uncles and aunts still inhabit my desk! I needed an outing. Didn’t allow for idiots with fake bombs! 🙁 P

lost 21b!1 yay 51b in two weeks feeling motivated

    Hi Nama,

I use p*ss off all the time (no asterisk, though). I find it especially useful – before slamming the phone down – when dealing with cold callers. Persistent ones get the super-enriched version involving the letter F.

We are on some kind of cold call prevention list, but that doesn’t stop those based outside the UK. I am especially annoyed by those on the lookout for my former and now late husband, or me under my former name. These I tell straight the Mr V died nearly 5 years ago and Mrs V is no longer with us (which is true, I’m now Mrs R). She slit her wrists because she was being driven insane by all the cold callers.

    Hi Purple,

We won’t be doing Valentine’s as such. I’ll be out for the afternoon at the theatre with my tall, dark and handsome great-nephew. We shall then join my OH for dinner at our excellent neighbourhood curry house. I’m hoping OH will get there first, otherwiseI might be taken for a randy old biddy waltzing in with her very young toyboy. 😉

    Hi Wiwi

We used to go to Plimmerton to have fish n chips by the sea. So beautiful. Looking forward to catching up soon.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    O, Hermaj

    Toy boy! You cougar! 😉

    Cheers, Bay

    Hi Bay,

It wouldn’t be the first time I might be suspected of cougary (is there such a word?). The first time when I was travelling in Italy with OH and the 15-year-old who is now my lovely stepson and has recently celebrated his 40th.

It was the year when some kind of nasty algae attacked Italy’s Adriatic coast sending holidaymakers scurrying for the mountains, through which we were driving towards home in Switzerland, and hotel rooms were thin on the ground. The boy and I went into one hotel while his dad waited outside. No luck with the room. As we left, the teen turned to me asking: “Did you see the weird look the guy gave us? Maybe he thinks I’m your toy boy.”

I should point out that OH is 5 years younger than me so qualifies as a quasi-toy boy. 😉

    Good afternoon all,
Very pleasant walk in Richmond Park with the old dears, not the four legged variety. Amazon, being true to her nature and namesake led us into a bog so we were jumping crevasses and knee deep in mud(slight exaggeration). Followed by a nice cuppa in a very English cafe. Lunch was at an Italian and it was exceptional. I had sea bass with Mediterranean veg and capers. We are well fed and watered and approve strongly of the quality of London restaurants experienced. Smiffy leaves soon as she has a valentine date planned. Lucky her. Amazon and I will be out on the town tonight. Looking forward to seeing my son tomorrow. Travel lodge has been quite good, breakfast edible if not delicious.

Does anyone here drink wine as well and still lose weight?
and if so how many glasses and how often?

    Good morning all 😀

Had a surprise call around 9:30 last night from my eldest grandson who was staying at a friend’s house for a sleep over (friend’s birthday today) and the friend lives, literally, down the end of our street. Grandie #1 wanted to come over for a coffee and chat, so his friends (there was another boy staying over too) walked him down to our driveway, he came and had his coffee and chat and I walked him back to where he’s staying (almost a 1 km round trip) … we’re at the beginning of the street he’s at the far end of the street.

He was telling me all about his week and who he gave a valentine pressie & card to and which classes he likes he also told me he wished his teacher would give him some harder maths to do as it’s so easy he’s finished within 5 minutes (including checking answers) and even when his teacher has given him extra challenges he’s finishing them (3 extra’s) within 15 to 20 minutes while most of the others in his class are still working out the first lot. He told his teacher that he needed more challenging work but I don’t think she’s worked out his level (his best friend was on question 2 in the test while he was checking his answers). He’s also decided that narrative writing is his favourite style of writing at the moment.

Went out for our dinner last night … getting a bit bored with the selection, think I need a change but unless there’s something on the special’s board that takes my fancy what I usually have is the best choice for me. We always go to the same place, lovely people and service which is why we go there as the group we go with love it too. Might have to try another one nearby soon … OH is talking about going to a new Indian restaurant that’s opened up about 20 mins drive from here so we’ll see what it’s like.

Glad the get together in London has been going so well for you all. I can just see you all braving the jungle with Amazon as described by Jojo 😆 must have been a hoot.

Hermaj so lovely that you’re posting. Love the cougarism coming through 😆 and the stories you tell which bring them to life 😀 .

Smiffy enjoy your valentine’s day dinner 😀

RT are you taking y-fee out for a romantic interlude today (well tonight)? Not doing anything spesh here at all worst luck 🙁 nevermind it’s probably better for the waist line anyway.

Wee so glad your Dad had a great birthday with you and the family everyone looked so happy 😀 (those braces were something weren’t they 😆 )

PVE so glad you at least got out of the house … hopefully your favourite eatery will be available next time you want to go.

Bay, Nama, Wiwi and everyone else not mentioned personally (you know who you are) wishing you a happy losing Saturday and Valentines Day 😀

Welcome to cigsmcandy and well done on your loss. Come on in and tell us a little about yourself 😀

Cheers to all 😀 😀 AO xx

Hello SparkleRay and welcome. I cannot answer your question myself as I don’t drink wine but I do know that some in here do drink a glass of wine but I don’t know frequency etc. I’m sure someone will answer it and where they are in the world will determine the timing of their response.

Edited to correct my grammar 😀

    Hi Sparkle and welcome:

5:2 is calorie based, not type of food based, so you can eat/drink anything you want on 5:2.

It is the number of calories that count, and I have no idea how much wine you pour in your glass, so I can’t help there. But, depending on the type of wine, there are about 600 calories in a ‘bottle’, so you can go from there.

    Good Luck!
