hey you fab fasters, hang in there, the day is almost done 🙂
well done! just to let you know my dad is being kept in hospital for more tests but looks like nothing too serious, hopefully he will be home by the weekend, as I knew he would he is already complaining grrr
have a lovely evening guys, thank you again for your kindness, and JFitzy have a fabulous time you lucky thing and bring us back a little warm sun 🙂
xxxx
Have a wonderful holiday JFitzy!!
Char you have me confused, isn’t the USA behind the UK – pretty sure Aus et al get to celebrate the new year first!!
Angie glad your Dad is feeling better – sounds like a plan go over to visit and get away from the tension at home for a while too.
Thanks for all the support everybody – it really does help – who knew we’d get slimmer healthier and find some fab friends too 🙂
Something a bit more positive for me today – have lost 2lbs this week, so my grand total after 12 weeks of IF is 1 stone – also my body fat reading has come down from 43.4% to 38% – according to the guide that came with my scales body fat for a woman my age (48-49 category), body fat should be in the range of 24 – 38 %, so I have nearly made it to the healthy range (albeit the top end!!). Very chuffed with that.
All this holiday talk has made me jealous, so finally plucked up the courage (am scared of flying!) to book a 5 day holiday to Finland with my son (while his sister is in Spain with her school 🙂
Half day tomorrow for me – school’s out for Easter 🙂
Is anyone fasting tomorrow hope it goes well.
Hugs x
Yes, Hilly, the time in the USA is behind that in the UK. That’s why I’m writing this at a little after 7PM, when it is after 11PM there.
Anyway, congrats on your first stone lost! (You can tell I’ve been reading you folks for awhile. We never say “stone” to measure weight here! So, inquiring minds need to know(!), do your scales actually read 10st and 3 lbs, etc, or do you convert from pounds to stones and pounds in your head?) Fourteen pounds in 12 weeks is excellent! It has taken me 17 weeks to lose 15 pounds. I’m enjoying losing anything at all, but a little impatient since I have at least 25 more to go, and 35 would be better. My work life makes me very sedentary at this time, so I recently started some Fast Exercise. I sure hope that speeds things up a little. If not, I’m sure I’ll feel better just from getting a little exercise.
hi ladies! Angie, I’m so glad to hear your dad will be ok. Hilly, good for you for undertaking the trip to Finland. I don’t know anyone who’s ever been to Finland – I have to admit I have very little idea what’s there. Well done to both you and Char for the weight loss success!
Char, I see I’m not the only American here anymore. 🙂 Nice to have someone in the same time zone as me. I actually had to look up how much a stone was, and I have the same question about the scales — do they actually read in stone and pounds?
Tomorrow is my weigh in day (I fasted today) and I have a feeling I’m stuck on a mini-plateau. It’s that time of the month and that always makes me retain a ton of fluid. I probably shouldn’t weigh at all tomorrow, but I’m going to do it and just steel myself for a discouraging reading.
Good early morning peeps!!
thank you again for the good wishes for my dad, I just want him to be back home but I know you are all right he is in the right place…
Hilly brilliant stuff, 2 lbs gone, well done 🙂 and I would say to you go for the holiday, you deserve it, I am terrified of flying too, but I have been to Thailand on a 12 hours flight and its ok I promise 🙂
Char any activity will make a difference, slow is good because its bound to stay off forever, did you check my 10 minutes workout I posted on here a little while ago? its easy to do, and really works on your core tummy muscles…
Kilda good luck on your weigh in today! don’t worry about being on a plateau, they do shift…and yes the scales here read as stones and pounds but you can change the settings lol..
have a lovely day everyone, hopefully another sunny and warm one! take care and to the fasters have a good one xxx
Morning all,
Angie – hope your Dad continues to improve and that he will be back home soon.
Hilly – I met a lovely Finnish woman on holiday and what she was describing about Finland made it sound beautiful so am sure you will have a wonderful time. I always find a glass or two of wine helps before flying….as long as your flight isn’t at 6am!
LD – don’t get despondent re your weigh in, weight fluctuates so much over a period of 24 hours you probably just picked a bad time. Concentrate on the fact that you feel better and that your clothes are looser and promise you won’t step on the scales again until 1 May!
Am gearing myself up for fasting again next week, this week has been just crazy and social so will start afresh next week and not weigh until 1 May.
Have a great day!
LD I am sorry you feel frustrated..
ok 2 lbs isn’t that much, and it could be due to several factors, I know I am stating the obvious but time of the month maybe?
sounds like water retention to me,so drink as much water as you can today and you may find that those 2lbs disappear by tomorrow!
please don’t loose heart, am sure it’ll be fine, are you fasting today? am not but if you are hope its a good one!
thank you for asking of my dad, hopefully more news later today as to when he’ll go home 🙂
take care and let us know how you are getting on today, we’re all here to support and encourage you xxx
Hi everyone,
Finland does sound lovely!
Angie glad your dad is getting better thats the main thing and he will be home soon 🙂
LD I agree with Jenki, just keep at it and you will be fine as you know you have lost weight with this regime and you still will. I weighed myself this morning and I still weight the same (this is my second week of fasting) but I will keep at it. I do feel more energised the past couple of weeks and I think this is to due with this 5:2.
My next fast day will be monday as got a busy couple of days ahead of me now.
Sx
LD I totally understand how it get be disheartening but just stick to it and you will defo see results.2 lbs is really not that much and you will lose this and more. The main thing is you know this works and you have lost weight with it and thats what counts. Like you said stick to the fasting and exercise and you will see results! 🙂
Afternoon everyone
hope you are all ok and having a good day..LD you have plenty of good advice there 🙂 am sure as the day goes by you will feel better, I have been exactly where you are so I know how down it can make you feel, one of the reason I refuse to let the scales dictate my moods!! you will loose again, no doubt about it… sometimes we all hit a plateau, but you WONT put all the weight back on, impossible!! are you drinking enough water? the chances are you may have eaten more salt than usual without really realising, and this causes water retention( I know I am starting to sound like a damn parrot, but bear with me grrrr) so it just needs to be flushed out again 🙂
come on give us a little smile, don’t let a silly number ruin your day 🙂
take care and have a lovely day, that’s an order! xxx
Afternoon girls – yay school’s out ’til after Easter 🙂
Doh Char, am being dim over the pond!!! Of course you’d be around later and therefore leave the first message of the day in the UK. Funny that you guys don’t use stones – I remember watching Brigit Jones’ Diary and feeling frustrated with all the talk of pounds!! I do know 112lbs is 8 stone (oh for those days!!!)
Little Dragon I know the gang have already given you a pep talk but here’s my two pennies worth too!!! Don’t worry 2lbs isn’t very much – I gained 1 last week but lost 2 this week, we all fluctuate, just remember how far you have come and just keep going we will all achieve our goal.
Can’t remember who wanted to know more about Finland but when we go the days will be long and it should be sunny – it’s very unpolluted so we will breath in lots of pure air, swim in the lake every day, catch up with my friend and explore – am looking forward to it 🙂
Jenki being home fasting will be tough for me next week too, we can keep each other on the straight and narrow.
x
Gosh it’s been quiet on our little thread!
Thought I’d check in before toddling up to bed! Have just had 3 vodkas and lemonade, so possibly a bit tipsy! Was researching whether has less of an impact than wine, which doesn’t seem to agree with me anymore!! Not sure – maybe will have to follow in my Dad’s foot steps and give up alcohol!
I’m attempting to fast tomorrow, though with the kids home and a new boiler being fitted it might be a challenge!! But am prepared have got my trusty Waitrose spinach and riccota canneloni lined up.
Hope everyone is ok and good luck to anyone joining me on the fast tomorrow.
Night all
x
Good morning everyone!
hope you are all ok, Hilly I hope you are not too hungover this morning lol!
the latest on my dad isn’t great, so I am very down today and not feeling up to much, good job am not working… I spoke to sis last night and it turns out he is diabetic, I cant quite believe this is only being diagnosed now! so he’ll need more dialysis but they have to do more tests, as he also has heart problems that have been aggravated by this, they say their priority now is to flush out out all the fluids and toxins that got trapped when he had urine infection… so we just have no idea how long he’ll stay in hospital… I am going to see how this week goes and probably go over next week..
sorry guys, I wish I could sound happier but I know you’ll understand when a loved one is unwell everything else just takes a back seat… so its the waiting game foe now..
hope you all have a good day, and a good fast for those fasting! I will be on Thursday and tomorrow and Wednesday Its 16.8 for me..
take care xxxxxxx
Hi Angie,
sorry to hear about your Dad. It’s rough, glad you’re going to be able to go over and see him next week. My Dad (75) was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of years ago. He’s not the best at managing, always wants to eat the wrong thing!! However my Mum keeps him under control and so far he has managed just with some tablets. I’m sure they’ll get your Dad stable. He’ll feel much better once they’ve flushed out all the toxins that have built up in his system.
No hangover for me luckily – have a very strange man here today fitting our new boiler (very exciting), the kids have retreated to the living room, as he is most odd – talking constantly quite loudly to himself and the spanners and the limescale!!!
Fast going ok so far, might be hard this evening as will have no heating and am often cold on a fast day!
x
Hi everyone! Angie so sorry about your dad but he will be fine. At least he is in good hands. Dont worry about fasting right now as you have alot going on at the moment.
I was meant to fast today but meeting a friend for dinner. Have a really busy week ahead so my next fast day will be Thursday. Good luck to those fastinf today X
Dinner with friends sounds good Shelly, enjoy yourself.
Am fasting today – why oh why did I buy us all some hot cross buns!!! They’re staring at me from the kitchen – worse I currently have no water while my new boiler is being fitted, which I hadn’t foreseen so have nothing to drink!! Hope it will be back on soon.
Little Dragon think my next mini target will be to get under 10 stone too but think it will take me a while as currently 10 8 1/2!!! Think you’ll get there before me. Remind me where are you going for your holiday?
x
New York how lucky are you, I would imagine there’s a lot of scrumptious food out there to tempt you!! But you are doing brilliantly, my fingers are crossed with you when you finally decide to weigh 🙂
Angie glad you’re booking to go, will make you so much better and it will also give you a break from the strained atmosphere at home too. xx
Hey LD the food in NY is sooo good so just enjoy it. The pizzas are amazing!! 🙂 we did so much walking when we were there but also ate like pigs lol. Very jealous! I am going tenerife in a few weeks so hope I lose some weight before I go.
Angie its really good you going to see your dad will be so much better when you can be with him. X
Wow well done with the run that’s brilliant! I used to go gym, spin classes and cross trainer but then stopped and now I try and go for long walks when I get a chance mostly on weekends and on my lunch breaks. Might start using the gym again.
I was meant to fast today but caved and decided to meet my friend for dinner. Defo fasting on Thursday 🙂
I know how that feels eating everything in sight lol! I am trying to be a better with my eating habits now but I have noticed since 5;2 my appetite has decreased so on non fasting days I don’t eat as much and when I do eat alot I feel uncomfortably full so eat less as hate that feeling of being bloated and stuffed lol.
Afternoon girls,
am enjoying being home today 🙂
Think I may have to up the exercise, am doing HIT exercises every other day but it’s fitting it all in!! I supplement my income doing private tuition and it’s really busy at the moment in the run up to the Y6 SATS tests (for anyone as old as me Y6 is the last year in junior school). Have been a regular runner in the past but life always seems to sneak in and before I know it several weeks have passed and I’ve lost the fitness again!!!
I need to lose at least another stone and a half but for now focussing on the 9 stone something mark and see what happens after that 🙂
Wish I could shrink and climb in some of your suitcases – not been to either of those places, did once look at NY from the CN Tower in Toronto but that’s the nearest I’ve got. Sunshine sounds very appealing too 🙂
Strange heating man has left for the day so going to pop out while we’ve got the chance, nutty heating man is back tomorrow and a new des res is coming for the rabbits, so will be confined to barracks tomorrow 🙁
x
Afternoon peeps!
wow so much to catch up on lol, I just want to say that am sure you will all get to your goal, you have the right positive attitude and that’s half the battle!! well done girls :-)all this talk of hols, you lucky sods 🙂

I do hope the weather is good though! I will be seeing my little great niece who is 7 months old!
