    I hope everyone is well and enjoying this lovely warm weather 🙂 who’s fasting today? I am not but doing a 16.8 and fasting either tomorrow or Thursday, already been out earlier for first doggie walk…will be out again later this afternoon..

    things at home are pretty much the same, day by day, but the resentment sometimes surfaces, yet I cant bear another confrontation… I am going to sign up for the counselling sessions from work, our employee programme… its the only thing I honestly think will give me some sense of where to go next…

    Well done on your fast yesterday 😉 wow not long till your holiday now!! I really loved NY, and am sure you will too… I went in May too and it was so warm!!

    Afternoon ladies I have been really busy today so haven’t had a chance to say hi. Had a good fast yesterday and will fast again tomorrow. I have my weigh in on Friday morning but not expecting too much as March wasn’t a great month for me as I had a lot on but even if I have stayed the same I don’t really mind as I feel much slimmer and I have lost inches. I am determined to lose about 10 lbs between now and the 5 June which is my holiday date.

    Hi everyone my fast went good yesterday & I’m back to fasting on Thursday for my two. However thinking to do a 4:3 this week. Anyone done the 4:3? How did u find it? X

    Hi Jayjay! I am fasting on Thurs also. Not done the 4:3 one yet but might give it a go in a few weeks once I am used to 5:2 🙂

    Hi Jayjay 4:3 is tough. I did it and didn’t lose anymore weight than I did doing 5:2. Having said that some people have had great success with 4:3 so don’t let me dissuade you 🙂

    just to butt in on your 4.3 query, there is no evidence at all that it actually makes any difference to weight loss…

    JFitzy those who had success with it may well have done so but to maintain that kind of fasting is plain daft!!

    5.2 is more than enough to jolt your body into fat burning mode lol, I personnaly couldn’t do it!

    This is all good to know, think i will be sticking to 5:2, tbh I dont think i could do 4:3 as seems like too much. I am going to a steak house for dinner tonight! will try and be good and not order dessert! x

    JayJay, Angie, and all. This is my first post, although I’ve been lurking here for the 4 months that I’ve been doing IF, and enjoying all the good support. Everybody is different, with different schedules and activity levels, so I wouldn’t discourage others from trying 4:3 if they think it might be right for them. Unfortunately, I have a job that keeps me almost completely sedentary (in front of a computer), 7 days per week, from morning until bedtime. I know it’s unhealthy, and I am in the process of escaping. (Come on, May 16!) But, I just happen to physically go to work on Mon, Wed, and Fri, instead of working from home. Since I’m very busy and involved with people while I am there, it is easy for me to fast on those days. While I have been losing weight slowly-but-surely all along, the only way I can seem to lose a solid pound per week is to do 4:3, which I have been doing for the past 7 weeks. I don’t find it too painful, and it allows me to eat the way I want to on my non-fast days, which is also less than I used to eat. I’m now at 15 lbs in 4 months, which is the first weight loss success I’ve had in 6 years, although I started several other diets that crashed within 3 weeks because of no significant results. Also, I like the extra flexibility of 4:3. If we happen to be having a party at work with all sorts of great food, I ditch my fast day without guilt, because I will still have 2 others that week. (That happens about once a month.) Otherwise, if they have something yummy in the break room at work (which happens frequently), I take a piece home to enjoy the next day.

    Thank you for sharing your experience with 4.3, and well done on your results, that is great!! You are right in saying we are all different and different methods work for some and not others 🙂

    Thanks for the welcome, Angie. I have recommended this way of eating to many over the past few months, and I always advise them to check in on this forum for encouragement and advice.

    Morning all and welcome Char6 to the thread. Well done on your loss, that’s incredible and you must be feeling really great after a steady and sure loss over the last few months. I tried 4:3 and really struggled so 5:2 is more than enough for me.

    How is everyone today? I am fasting – anyone else? Hoping for a more productive day as yesterday sort of just passed me by…

    Scrap that – I have friends asking whether I can go for dinner tonight, so I’ll be fasting tomorrow instead – I really like the flexibility I can have with this. Good luck fasters, I’ll be joining you tomorrow!

    Hi Angie I decided to fast today instead of tomorrow as I have family coming tomorrow. The flexibility of this way of eating is great.

    So far fast is going ok however it’s only 10am lol. Ask me how I’m feeling tonight at 7. I’m leaving all my 500 cals for tonight.

    Hi LD I am fasting today. I have my monthly weigh in on Friday and then I have decided to start weekly weigh-ins as I think it will motivate me more as I will be able to see if I am gaining, losing or plateauing (if there is such a word) and then I can take appropriate action!! 🙂

    ohh dear I think I might still be in holiday mode. Haven’t managed to fast yet and don’t think I am going to get a chance for the rest of this week. Am tempted to just write this week off, not feel guilty and start afresh on Monday. At least there is quite a long time until the next weigh in.

    hope you wont mind me posting this on here but I need some positive vibes!!
    just heard from my sister in France that my dad has been taken into A&E, apparently with a real bad coughing bout… keeping in touch with my sister for any more info, luckily my dad has this wonderful lady friend who is with him…
    I feel worried of course but I am keeping positive,this has happened before and he was fine, my dad has a pacemaker… i’ll post again with an update hopefully soon… now am not sure I can keep up the fast but I am going to give it my best shot!!

    Yes Shelly I have that app too & its great as u can workout cals for small things like condiments.

    However that app does give me more calories than what allowed from this forum. Is that the same for u? X

    Hi Jayjay, this forum actually gives me 200 more calories a day then the app, so i might have to double check. But it is defo good to use and a great way of keeping track of the calories you have eaten per day.

    Hope everyone is ok, how did your fast go? Mine wasnt too bad… Ill be glad when tomorrow comes!
    My dad is staying in hospital tonight, i did some google research and if i am right he may well be suffering from an enlarged prostate, which is treatable.. I so hope i am right though, going to call his friend later and my sister is also keeping me imformed..

    more hugs to you Angie, is hard when a loved one is unwell and must be ten times worse when they live in a different country. French hospitals are fantastic, so I’m sure they’ll be looking after him well. Hope Sophie (hope I’ve remembered that right) rings you with a more detailed update later.

    Have been fasting today, has gone ok but am feeling a bit hungry still and have had my rations for the day, so I could end up going to bed early to avoid cracking!! Finding it a bit tough at the mo, am missing my ex boyfriend. Was definitely the right decision to split but it’s hard to get used to, thought he was the one but it didn’t work out that way but I am missing him and things keep reminding of the good times!!

    Sounds like we’re all finding it a bit hard at the mo, for various reasons – so we need to keep each other going 🙂

    Sorry you are on a downer hun, but well done on your fast today, i did it too 🙂 breaking up is one of the hardest and sad thing to do.. I am one of those people who cant bear to see the hurt on others face and so i stay..

    Thank you so much for asking about my dad, sis called Sophie, as i suspected he has an infection, but his heart and kidneys are fine… He will have more tests done tomorrow so he is staying in hospital tonight, i feel for him because he hates them!! So i am feeling much more reassured and hopefully he will be home soon…

    Hi again. I’m in the U.S. (New York state), about 4-5 hours earlier than a lot of you, so I’ll keep the positive thoughts going toward Angie’s dad while you folks sleep! (I am writing this a 6:36 Eastern Daylight Savings Time, so when I see when it gets posted, I’ll know how far apart we are.)

    Four hours difference, I see. I fasted today, also. The good news is that I’m at that nice, comfie time shortly after supper, when my stomach is nicely full of salad and a little bit of skinless chicken. In a couple of hours, I will wish I was in bed, also, but a carrot will help. I always reserve myself a bedtime carrot! (Whenever I tell non-IF folks that a carrot makes a perfectly good bedtime snack, they look at me like I’m crazy!)

    Angie I am glad your dad is okay – if he is in hospital, then at least he’s getting medical attention which is more comforting than him being at home and not being able to see doctors if he needs it. I hope you are okay. It must be so tough balancing home life with your worries about your dad but do look after yourself and don’t push yourself to fast if you don’t feel up to it.

    Char6 that’s a great tip, low calorie and nice and refreshing. I always try to sleep before I get hungry on a fasting day.

    Speaking of which, I am fasting today, I changed it around from originally planning to do it yesterday because I met friends for dinner, I love the flexibility. Fingers crossed today goes okay!

    Hilly66 – sorry to hear you’re having a tough time, I am sure you will be strong though and draw strength from your weight loss successes. Keep your chin up and push through – it’s the right thing and you have to trust your own decision.     Morning all. Angie glad to hear your Dad is doing well he is in the best place.

    I am off on my trip tomorrow so I will report my weigh in progress when I get back next week as I won’t be online tomorrow as I will be going to the airport early.

    I am looking forward to getting back to my running properly when I get back as it will be too hot in Dubai – currently 39 degrees (eek!). There is a storm due tomorrow so hopefully it will cool down over the weekend.

    I am not fasting today so will have a glass of wine with my dinner tonight 🙂
