    Morning all – hope everyone is well. Thanks for the congrats Hilly66 my hubby is English but supports Ireland as his second team! I have to admit I did cheer when Italy got that try as I was worried about the points difference – oops that didn’t go down too well as you can imagine.

    Hey Angie I am going to the Tate later today with a client as we are having a function there in April – small world. Glad your chat with the Welfare Officer went well as you say you need to take it one day at a time.

    My fast yesterday went well and I am fasting again tomorrow. My Mum arrives tomorrow afternoon so I will see if she notices my weight loss and will report back 🙂

    I didn’t make it to the gym last night – was going to go with the whole family but got home from work late and then no one really felt like going. Will try again tomorrow if work cooperates.

    I’m up for a meet in London too :-)- wish the Atlantic wasn’t so big, so you could come too Kilda.

    My kids are always pestering me for a dog, when I see the cute dogs at some of my tutoring places my heart melts but I know it would be too much. It’s a big enough struggle getting my daughter to clean her rabbits and besides Chubby (the cat) is terrified of dogs!

    The Thai curry was good, was hard founding half fat coconut milk (could only find it in Sainsbury’s. I like making things on fast days, seems to be more filling and the actual preperation helps to keep me busy. That said Waitrose spinach and ricotta cannelloni at 279 calories is a definite staple of my fasting days.

    Am with you tomorrow Little D fasting again.

    Morning all hope everyone is having a good start to their day?

    Today is the big day – my Mum arrives – so I will be interested to see if she notices my weight loss (probably not ha ha)! I am fasting today and might do a mini one tomorrow as last weekend was so calorific I need to catch up. I have a couple of satsumas for lunch and then I am having stuffed mushrooms and salad for dinner.

    I have been so tempted to weigh myself but to date I have managed to avoid temptation! My next weigh in will be Friday 28 March so will have to wait until then.

    Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

    So, I’ve been thinking I’ve been coming down with something for the last few days. My colleague at work has had a stinking cold all of last week and I think I’ve finally caught it 🙁 combined with the fact that I was working stupid hours at work a few weeks ago and now that I’ve resumed a normal routine, it’s caught up with me.

    The plan was to fast today but the OH advised me strongly against it. I think he’s probably right as well, I definitely don’t want to be ill for the weekend (if it wasn’t my birthday I probably would still fast). Woke up with a stinking cold, my body temperature seems to be all over the place and on my commute into work, I had a few really strong waves of nausea which was horrible.. might go home from work early but feeling okay right now. The last time I was ill and was taking medication on an empty stomach I gave myself a stomach ulcer. Eek!

    So good luck fasters, I will be back on it when I’m back to full health (she says nursing a cup of Lemsip)

    Sorry to hear that LD – hope you are feeling better soon. I think you should go home early as you want to be on top form for your birthday!!! 🙂

    I am abiding by the old wives’ tale “starve a fever, feed a cold”! Not being ridiculous with food but trying to be a bit sensible and have lots of fruit and protein.

    I am doing ok thanks, 16.8 is much easier than I thought, a little tough going in the mornings as I have always been a breakfast person but midday comes soon enough lol…
    tomorrow will be a normal fast, then i’ll do it all over again next week 🙂 but I may fast Monday, we’ll see, this is what I love about 5.2, the fact that we can tweak, swap and change as we like !!

    LD, sorry to hear you’re not feeling well today. Just when work was getting better for you too. Angie I’ll be interested to hear how your 16:8 experiment goes for you.

    I went a little over on dinner last night so ended up around 650-700 for my fast day. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow!

    16.8 is going well so far, don’t know yet if it’ll make a difference re weight loss but i’ll be happy to maintain 🙂 will let you know!!

    don’t worry too much about going over, its still a very low cal day so no worries!! and as you say there is always tomorrow 🙂

    Hi Angie et al lovely day again! DRUM ROLL – my Mum did notice my weight loss yeah!!! She is so funny; she is tiny and weighs about 8 stone but she always complains about her “spare tyre” (aka muffin top)! She asked me how did I manage to lose mine as she might do what I did!!

    Had a great fast day yesterday – actually couldn’t finish my dinner 🙂

    I will pop in again today before I sign off for the weekend! x

    Hello Shelly27 welcome to our the happy fasting camp! You will find this really easy once you get into it. At lot of us fast on Mondays (me included) and I also do Wednesdays. One piece of advice though measure yourself on Monday morning before you start; bust, waist, bingo wings (if applicable!), waist, hips etc. The reason being some weeks you may not lose on the scales but you will find you have lost inches. I only lost 2.5lbs in the month of February but I lost inches. Also some of us here only weigh monthly as it gives a better picture – anyway good luck!! 🙂

    JF really great to hear your mum noticed the weight loss – that must have been a real boost.

    Angie – how are you doing? How are things at home?

    Feeling a bit better thank you all – but still not 100% but better than yesterday. Raiding the Boots medicine counter must have worked a bit. But I haven’t really been sleeping much at all which isn’t good, so feeling quite tired. I had more than I usually eat yesterday, craving crisps and chocolate so allowed myself a packet of healthy baked crisps in the afternoon. Had ravioli pasta for dinner with fresh pesto. I think the carbs helped give me a bit of energy that I was lacking. I won’t have done 2 fast days this week, only one on Monday but that’s okay – I will pick it up again when I feel ready for it.

    Good luck to all fasters today, sort of wish I was well enough to be doing it as well with you but there’s always next week! 🙂

    I am ok thank you, fasting today which is easier since I have done 2 16.8 days so far lol…things at home are bearable, to be honest at times I want to bloody slap him really hard because he gets on my nerves arghhhhhhhhhhhh
    but, I am keeping my cool, and keeping calm somehow, because if I loose it big time am sure am going to have a nervous breakdown grrrrrrrrrrr
    Monday night i’ll stay away, going to stay at my mates till Tuesday…I am so looking forward to it!!

    Hi girls u all seem really pleasant & fun.

    I have joined 5.2 few days back done one fast. Which went ok. But found it really hard. How do u guys keep urself away from the food.?

    Also sorry I forgot to add was wondering if any of you could help me with this as I’m confused.

    So worked out that my TDEE is 2106 but that seems quite high. Is this the amount of calories I’m allowed on non fasting days?

    As I put down that I do moderate exercise which is 3-5 times a week, I actually do more than this I work out 7 days a week for about a hour, I do the 30 day shred which is 20 mins & then other aerobic & cardio exercise. But I put less as thought best to keep it low. However I still ended up with 2106 for TDEE.

    Am I doing this correct?

    Hi Jayjay, I cant comment on how to deal with fasting days as I am starting on Monday.

    In terms of TDEE, i believe this is amount of calories you can eat on your non fast days. The more you exercise and the more active you are the more calories you burn, hence the more calories you can eat so I think that sounds okay to me. Of course the less calories you eat the more you will loose. Hope this helps and makes sense.

    Hi Jayjay84 welcome to the forum. To work out your TDEE you need to put in your sex, age, height & weight. If you pick sedentary you will get one number and if you pick very active (which is your category) you should get a completely different number so not sure what the problem is. I just did it now and it is working.

    You should be eating a number somewhere between your BMR and TDEE so for me I should eat about 1400/1500 calories on my non fast days but sometimes I eat less, if I am not hungry and sometimes more, if I run or go to the gym or I am out to dinner.

    Me again Jayjay I think I know what the problem is – you have to press calculate each time you pick a different activity level otherwise the number doesn’t change. For you level of exercise you need to calculate it on the Very Active level 🙂

    good morning ladies! Angie, not to fear, I’m fasting with you today. I don’t have to go in to work as early on Thursdays so I’m just now getting up – ah, so nice to sleep past 6 am!

    LD, so glad you’re feeling a bit better. And Shelly I definitely second that advice to measure before you start. Some weeks the scales don’t move much but the measurements do. JFitzy, so glad to hear your mom noticed! That had to feel good.

    JayJay, sounds to me like you are pretty active, hence your fairly high TDEE. That is just an estimate though – you may have to see how it plays out in real life. Use that as your TDEE for several weeks, eat only 500 on your fast days and see how it goes. If you aren’t losing, you may have to lower the TDEE a little.

    Also to the new folks, remember that if you don’t have much to lose, you won’t lose as fast. I don’t know how much you have to lose, but if it’s only a little bit, expect it to be gradual and don’t get frustrated. I’ve lost pretty quickly so far but I think that’s partly because I was so big to begin with and I expect the loss to slow down gradually as I get into a healthier range.

    Hi Kilda, Aw thats bliss not having to wake up at 6am today, hope you had a good sleep. I am bascially around a size 12 but I would like to drop down to a size 10 if I can. I will even be happy to loose around 10 to 15 pounds. Thats brilliant you have lost weight so it shows 5:2 works for alot of people! 🙂

    I have lost 5lbs over the last 3.5 weeks but I was just eating sensibly & exercising daily. So after this 5lb loss I have exactt one stone to shift to be in a healthy range for my height.

    I’m not fussed even if it’s 1lb a week as long as something comes off.

    Thanks you so much for ur help guys I understand now so as long as I eat between my BMR & TDEE I should be fine.

    I like to exercise first thing in morning while my little one is asleep & then I know it’s out of the way for the whole day, plus can’t exercise if I have eaten.

    Hopefully I should be able to shift this stone with the help of all you amazing peeps. X

    My TDEE is 2110, but I try to eat the number of calories a couple to three hundred below this number each day which ends up being 1600-1700. I haven’t consistently kept the calories this low — some days are good and others are not.

    So far, this calculator is pretty close to being on track. In six and half weeks, I have lost a little over 15 lbs. I can tell a lot of it is water weight, as I weigh after fasting and am noticeably thirsty. The weight loss on some weeks is incredible (down 4.1 in a week?) and other weeks I gain weight (up 3.3 the next week?). I have been strict with myself for 5 days straight. If I can maintain this discipline, then I can determine a true pattern.

    for some reason, my weight loss seems to alternate weeks. I’ll have a large loss one week (3-4 lbs) then 0-1 lb the following week, then a large loss again the next week. I’ve noticed this over the past 7 weeks or so. I expect this week to be one of my small loss weeks so I’m not expecting much on tomorrow’s weigh-in. But if I stay true to form, next week should be a bigger drop.

    Just my pattern, no idea if anyone else has experienced this. My body seems to drop a large amount, then rest, then drop a large amount again.

    hope you are all ok, very windy here in Deal, how’s the fast going Kilda? am doing ok but I think i’ll be a little over the 500 cals mark, but am not worried one bit lol!
    I lost the same way as you Kilda, first in bigger chunks then much smaller ones, that’s the way the body works I think… and remember sometimes its water loss!!
