  • Not a lot to be honest

    100 grams of raw lean turkey breast (no skin) = 104 calories
    1 tablespoon of Kikkoman Soya Sauce = 10 calories (2 or 3 tablespoons is plenty)
    100 grams of pak choy = 19 calories
    100 grams of asparagus tips = 25 calories
    100 grams of broccoli = 25 calories
    100 grams of spinach = 20 calories
    50 grams of fresh egg noodles = 77 calories
    10 sprays of 1 cal = 10 calories
    1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil = 40 calories

    So 350 for the whole lot!! Very filling and to be honest I also eat that on a normal night but might add a bit more chicken/prawn/turkey and noodles if I have been to the gym.

    Also Waitrose does diced turkey breast in a spicy marinade and that is 141 calories for 100 grams but it lovely and has loads of flavour.

    The other thing you can use is the M&S scallops with chorizo – again lots of flavour. Also sometimes I just buy a pack of stir fry veg and the lower cal ones are about 70 for the entire thing which is good.

    Oh fantastic, thanks so much JF – great recipe. Have you used or heard of 1 calorie fry spray? It’s like oil to make fried things with but only 1 calorie per spray. Give it a go! x

    Hello LD yes it is in my recipe above 10 sprays of 1 cal!

    I just add the teaspoon of olive oil to stop things sticking in the wok. 🙂

    Hello everyone – boy that’s a relief, have just eaten my dinner after a long day’s fasting! I even managed to resist the tempting jelly beans offered to me at the hair dresser’s!!

    JFitzy that’s fantastic news, have you seen your mum yet (the acid test ;-))

    Morning fab fasters!

    just got in and its still only 6.15 grrrrrrrrrrrr but I am determined to fast today,so having a coffee and a go ahead fruit bake…I am planning a banana for lunch then by the time I get home it’ll be 8pm so i’ll have a tuna salad at 250 cals… lots of water too of course….

    Hi everyone I thought I would just pop in to say have a lovely sunny weekend one and all! I think today has turned into a fast day as I have been out all day and have yet to eat so if I can forego the vino tonight I may do a fast day! I had some wine, nuts and a bit of icecream last night and I have to say I felt quite ill this morning!! I think my eating habits have changed at last hurrah!

    Sorry Little D I weighed myself this morning but am delighted to report have lost another pound taking my total loss to 12lbs. I need my weekly weigh in to keep me going.

    Glad you have had work today and managed your fast, though I agree with the others, you should go easy on yourself at the mo.

    JFitzy I know what you mean about tastes changing, I’m finding alcohol doesn’t really agree with me (sob sob), it makes me go red in seconds and even a small amount makes me feel rough! But equally it could be early stages of the memonpause!!!! My face is constantly blemished, think it’s roasacea but it’s very sensitive!! So think things may be changing!!

    Hi ladies – I’m checking in late today as work has been crazy and keeping me busy. I hope everyone is having a good end to their week. Today was my weigh in day and I am happy (and still a little disbelieving) to report that I have lost a total of 23 lbs in the 9 weeks I’ve been doing 5:2 (with some 4:3 weeks thrown in there too). I’m down 2 clothing sizes. I still have a long way to my goal but as of this morning I’m in the “overweight” part of the BMI chart instead of the obese one.

    that’s in spite of doing basically no exercise – I really need to get this body moving! Hopefully when the weather gets nicer, I can take more long walks with the pup.

    I hope everyone had a good Friday, sounds like you have nice weather over there so I hope everyone is enjoying it. Big hugs to you especially Angie, be good to yourself. 🙂

    Hi Everyone, have been stuck up in Scotland for the past few days with little internet connection so been unable to get my fix from this website. Anyway I go off on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow, so excited. Its a bit of a trip of a lifetime and has taken me ages to save for but am going to Botswana and then onto Zambia. I am doing a horse riding safari in Botswana and then seeing the Victoria Falls in Zambia so really very excited!

    I don’t think that i will be doing the 52 on holiday but at least its an exercise holiday so hopefully shouldn’t put on too much weight!

    Anyway sounds like everyone is doing really well (LD hope your looser clothing has got you over your wobble). I hope you all have a fab 2 weeks and will check in again at the end of the holiday when I will be back to 5:2 with a vengeance!

    My apologies everyone going to ask about noodles!! I know they have been discussed before but I wasn’t in noodle mode then. In the new cook book (am trying first recipe foe Monday’s fast, Super Fast Thai Green Chicken Curry, will let you all know how it turns out!), it mentions shirataki noodles – think some of you have tried them – what are they like, are they palatable and where’s the best place to get them from?

    I managed to avoid going in to work yesterday but only by putting it off til today. Oh well. It is nice and sunny and springlike right now, but supposed to snow yet again tonight. Hopefully I’ll have time for a walk later before the temp drops.

    Question – does anyone know how to change your login password? I can’t remember the weird random one the site gave me and it keeps logging me out for some reason so I have to log in once a day at least. Would be a lot easier if I could make my own password that I could actually remember.

    Edited to say, never mind, I figured it out. Now off to work. I hope everyone else is enjoying a nice day off in spring weather!

    hope you all had a lovely weekend 🙂 not as sunny today but still very mild and dry!
    well today I have made the decision to change things a little with 5.2, I am going to do 2 days of 16.8 and one fast day, and see how I get on, I think my body has got used to 2 fast days and I am remaining pretty much the same lol
    so I think a little tweaking is called for!
    that last 5 lbs or so is eluding me so instead of obsessing with it I want to change my routine for a little while and see what happens 🙂
    I will always continue with 5.2 as its a way of life for me now, and my walking and workouts, as being fit is very important to me..

    anyway, enough of that! good luck to all of you fasting today,have a lovely Monday and take care 🙂 xxx

    Just catching up on the activity on here over the last few days.

    Kilda your weight loss is absolutely incredible, cannot believe you’ve lost 23 pounds in such a short space of time – you must be feeling superb. Well done and all the best for your continuing journey.

    Hilly – no worries about the weighing and well done for the extra pound. 12 pounds is a great loss and here’s to many more! Also I’ve had those noodles before, they were called Slim Noodles and I got them from Holland and Barrett – they’re absolutely fine, if you season them but alone they don’t taste of much.

    Angie – hope you had a good weekend and things at home aren’t too awful. I think changing up 5 2 if it’s no longer having the effect that you want is sensible. Let us know how you get on. Perhaps your body is happy at the weight you are and is clinging onto those 5 pounds! But anyway, I hope it’s not too much of a struggle getting to where you want to be.

    I’ve had a very indulgent weekend so I am looking forward to detoxing and getting back on track today.

    I will try and exercise at least twice during the week before the weekend… and then again on Saturday – but I intend to weigh on Friday so I’ll let you know how I get on. I feel pretty big today after this weekend but hoping for a good loss since 2 weeks ago.

    Jenki2 – I am SO jealous of your trip, it sounds amazing – can’t wait to hear all about it!

    Morning all hope you are all well and enjoyed the beautiful weather at the weekend!

    I had a great weekend but I feel as if I have put on a stone (ha ha!) Drank and ate way too much but did go running and walking so maybe not too much damage was done. Anyway the rugby season is now over thankfully (great win for my team IRELAND woo hoo) so I can get back to normal now and really go for it over the next 10 weeks before my holiday.

    I am fasting today and Wednesday and maybe one more day and I am going carbohydrate free this week and then back to normal 5:2 next week. I need a jump start so hopefully I can report at my weigh in on Friday 28 March 🙂

    Hi JF I am exactly the same – far too much rich food consumed these past few days but I did go to the gym for an hour and 20 min on Saturday so hoping that might have counteracted some of my overeating.

    How come you’re going carb free this week?

    Hi LD ha ha just saw your earlier post – we sound quite similar, very good Mon-Fri an then very bad at the weekends!!! 🙂

    I don’t eat a lot of processed carbs normally but this weekend I had more than normal, toast, bread and we went for pizza on Saturday night so I feel a bit bloated to say the least! So I will just have protein and salad/veg for the next 5 days or so and then back to normal! x x

    Sounds like it JF – I was pretty relentless with the food (starting Friday night when I had macaroni and cheese for dinner with brownies for dessert) then Saturday pasta for lunch and lots of delicious Turkish food for dinner – then Sunday massive roast dinner, lots of crisps and chocolate and then cheese and crackers… destroying all my good work during the week! Agh! xx

    morning ladies! I woke up to 6 inches of snow this am. My daughter’s school is cancelled and I’m pouting because she is snuggled up in her bed as we speak and I am at work. I love snow but I am SO tired of it.

    Firstly well done on your weight loss – fantastic result! My sister is in Kentucky and she has e-mailed to say they woke up to snow there this morning too!

    I think this is the first time in ages that we haven’t had any snow in London during the winter months – mind you having said that we have had snow in May before!

    Hope you have a great non-fast day – I am saving my 500 for tonight after my over indulgent weekend 🙂

    JF how is that fast going? I am doing ok, had 90 cal at about 2pm and been drinking lots of herbal tea and water since.

    HI LD not too bad thanks. I have not eaten yet today as I wanted to save my calories for tonight. I am going shopping after work as I didn’t get a chance over the weekend (too much socialising!!) and I will see what I fancy for dinner tonight. I think I am turning into a stir-fry so might have something different – probably won’t though ha ha.

    Hey JF – I am planning a dinner on Saturday night with friends and the OH has planned a full day on Sunday! I’m also off to the theatre and for dinner on Friday night so it’s a full weekend of celebrating – I can see some overindulging taking place… eek! xx

    Oooh sounds like great fun! If you cannot overindulge on your birthday when can you!! As you know I lost 1/4 lb after my birthday weekend I think we feel we are overindulging because we are used to eating less during the week (well that is my theory!!).

    just popped by to see how you’re all doing.

    Sounds like you two (LittleD and JFitzy) have had a fabulous weekend – no guilt tripping, just get back on with it and you’ll be fine. JFitzy I’m not Irish but Welsh so I was delighted that Ireland won, preventing the English from having the glory (sorry to any English buddies!).

    Have finished a fast day but not quite succeeded today, I made the Super Quick Thai Green Curry from the cookery book – it tasted delicous (331 calories per serving) but there was an awful lot of sauce, so was more like a thick soup – I just had to have something with it to help soak up the juices, so had some Thai noodles (not the skinny variety) so blue it by about 100 calories today 🙁 Never mind still ate a lot less than I might normally have done.

    Celebration time for me this week my son will be 11 on Thursday. Attempting to fast again on Wednesday but if I don’t manage it, it will have to be Friday.

    How did things go with the welfare officer Angie – I hope you found it helpful.

    Well bed for me with a liquorice and cinammon tea and my book (am reading The Goldfinch).

    hope you are all ok and ready for another day 🙂 Hilly, talk with welfare officer went good,thnak you foe asking!she is so lovely and she knows me quite well after all those years working at the Tate lol… still unsure what the future holds but for now, taking it day by day…
    well today is my first proper 16.8, feel quite good about it, no breakfast,i made a cherry cheesecake which is in the oven at mo ( sorry fasters!!) actually I was making one yesterday afternoon, I had it all ready to in oven, holding the tin, yeah you know the one with the removable bottom, and then disaster, it fell off……. 🙁 the mixture went everywhere, in the mop bucket, all over the kitchen floor… I cried, the dogs ran off, and it took me 30 minutes of cleaning the lot!!!!!!!!!!!
    so this morning I went out and bought my bits again only this time I am using a square tin with no loose bottom lol!!

    Hilly – that Thai Green dinner sounds delicious – I will need to pick up the 5:2 cook book because I am getting a little bit tired of eating the same ready meals every day (plus it’s much better to cook fresh food!) Also don’t worry about going over your calories, we have all done it on a fast day and it’s substantially less than you eat on a normal day anyway so it’s all good.

    Aww Angie, big hugs – I know the feeling of feeling like everything isn’t going your way but fingers crossed the new tin does the trick and there are no more accidents.

    Fasting was fine yesterday, glad to have done one day already. I plan to do Wednesday as well and then that’s me done for the week with a weigh in at the end of the week… eek!

    Next week I think I’m going to have to do Wednesday & Thursday back to back as I’m in seminars all day on Monday & Tuesday.

    Also Hilly I’ve not got round to trying it myself but apparently cauliflower rice is great – you steam/boil cauliflower heads and then whizz them in the food processor and it’s a great low carb low calorie way to bulk up curries.
