Day 11 – UK Reading – FD
Well, strange things going on here in Reading. I was super good over the weekend (mostly because OH is on meal replacement shakes and I want to support him), but despite living like a rabbit all weekend I’ve put on weight. How does that work? Very odd. Anyway, can’t be discouraged, I’m doing a magic leek day today to try and kick start some weight loss this week.
So adding myself to the pocket list – Monday is a great day for fasting :-):

Day 11, UK, FD
Managed to get through the weekend on the rightish track – OMAD going well – and now that the wine rack is empty once more, I’m looking forward to today’s FD. Keeping busy is a great distraction and I’ve plenty of tasks to get through.
Thanks @flourbaby & @debster251. @flourbaby – I did generally follow your holiday strategy – but kept my eye on the vino a little too much, if you know what I mean…..
@annemarilyn – Sending a big virtual hug and pray that your medical issues settle down with your impending retirement. Roll on Friday!
Thanks @arelkade – I’ll take a look at that Yoga programme too.
Congratulations @cjfrench – a great start and great motivation for you.
Happy Monday folks – onwards & downwards.
Day 11, London, UK, NFD.
@rainbowsmile, love you too!!! I know myself well enough to know that skipping the breakfast (Bed & breakfast hotel) and limiting the vino would be all that’s needed to keep me on track ……………. but knowing & doing are two COMPLETELY different things in my head!!!! I’m really going to try this time, but I know I’m with @strawberriesandcream here ………… I struggle NOT to imbibe when everyone else is; which makes for a miserable holiday ………… so I do!!!!
I’m off to visit my mum and sort her medication for the week, then home to prepare for three work days & B2B2B.
Keep on keeping on folks!!!
Day 7-11 – UK – NFD
Sorry for not posting since Day 6 but having a wonderful long weekend down in Suffolk continuing my 60th birthday celebrations with old friends – weather has been great and the company even better…..
Very grateful for this WOL that has allowed me to indulge over this long weekend without any EFS but am looking forward to a FD tomorrow as I drive back home to Cumbria – Treated myself to a gorgeous little linen summer dress from White Stuff in spicy pink – perfect fit in a size 8 💃 happy days!
@daffodil2010 – how wonderful to fit into not one but 2 of your favourite dresses again and one from 1989 – remember that wonderful feeling and enjoy it
@redrockgirl302 – lovely to have you back with us from your European sojourn and how wonderful to hear that you had such a fab time and no weight gain – I’m with you in that “What a great lifestyle. 5:2, intermittent fasting is working. It is not a diet but a way of life.”
@kerryn73 – I love rhubarb too – grow my own and always get a glut of it – Dan Lepard upside down rhubarb cake – https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/jan/13/rhubarb-recipes-dan-lepard Rhubarb sauce with grilled mackerel fillets, oven roasted rhubarb with ginger served with ice-cream or added to porridge…….I could go on…….
@mogaman – Sicily for a month how fab is that – had a few holidays there in the past and just loved it, many fond memories of the wonderful scenery both coastal and inland and the food……………Pasta con le sarde – Sarde a Beccafico (Sardine Rolls with Raisins and Pine Nuts) – Fritella, a Sicilian vegetable dish of artichokes, broad beans and peas and not forgetting the wonderfully decadent Cannoli.
Do I love cooking and eating good food just a bit too much…………..
@flourbaby – I’m so with you – basic good manners go a long way……BTW Great job with that 30 day shred 💪
@linda329 – hope you feel better soon
@diana123 – hope your work woes get sorted out to your satisfaction………..just saw your Day 9 post 😞hope you can find a way to make it work xx
@louiseo46 – great job on that 4lb loss!
@michelinme – thank you for sharing that wonderfully honest Day 8 post – You are not alone 🤗
@strawberriesandcream – welcome back and glad to hear that you had a fab cruise – thanks for the birthday wishes – I’m still celebrating 😉 and having a fab time – Get back on the 5:2 bandwagon and you will soon eradicate those pesky 12lbs xx
@missybear – good luck with the leg vein treatment next week
@shinything – loved your “I think my scales are depressed because they stopped fighting 😂 ”
@annemarilyn – of course you should share – we are your cyber family – I am not a prayer girl but strength and healing thoughts coming your way – hopefully stress will be relieved with retirement 🤗
@kaywesterman – great job on no weight gain after your vacation
@arelkade – good to hear that you are “Finally getting back into balance with this WOE”

Day 9 – NFD
Day 10 – NFD
Day 11 – MFD (800kcal); Dublin, Ireland
Hi everyone,
sorry for not posting over the weekend, but with the parents visiting I just didn’t have time to get on my iPad. All caught up with reading everyone’s posts though!
Friday was supposed to be a MFD and things were going pretty well until dinner, after which it was just a spiral of NFDs with too much food and alcohol. I haven’t worked up the courage to log my calories nor have I stepped on the scales since last week. As long as I don’t see the numbers on the scale, I can pretend nothing has gone awry.
I’ve been resting my knee, but am hoping to go for a run this week to see if it’s gotten better. We will be in London over the weekend, in our old neighbourhood and I’d really like to run our old route in Hyde Park.
Today is off to a good start – fruits with yoghurt and granola for breakfast, and I packed a salad for lunch (most calorific ingredient is some mozarella). Dinner should be turkey breast with salad and butternut squash.
Might do 4:3 this week to make up for the last two weekends of falling off the wagon.
@flourbaby – we will be going to Cyprus this summer too! Where do you usually go? My fiance is from Nicosia, so we always enjoy some home-cooking. Why is it that when it’s just the two of us we can be super disciplined with food but as soon as we spend time with family, we go back to over-eating?
Adding myself to the pocketlist – looks like Monday is a popular FD:

Day 11……Florida……CD
First day of a really long and busy week. Up a bit earlier than normal because I have to be at work earlier due to a 9am appt out of the office. Reminder to self……stop scheduling appts for first thing in the morning! So, today will be another long day!
I’m thinking today will be more of a CD than my traditional FD on Monday! For several reason, I’m taking the Greek chicken from Sat. dinner for lunch then my appt is near my favorite coffee shop that I do not get to visit very often. So it’s very tempting not to stop while I’m up there! Then the OH, made hamburger patties, so all I have to do it throw them on the grill when I get home from work….
I wasn’t able to catch up on everyone’s posts yesterday, it took me almost all day to get this house in order! But I did get it all done……Thank goodness!
All in a days work, I suppose! So, I’m off!
Japanese legend says that if you are not sleeping at night, it is because you are awake!
Day 11, UK, FD
Thank God its a FD, I think I overindulged a bit yesterday so its needed 😳
@annemarilyn you have my prayers, lets hope all turns out well 🙏
@cornish-jane glad to hear the event that stressed you out is over 🙂 , and I eat and really enjoy sourdough bread, which I learned to make myself, I don’t eat any other bread any more 🙂
@cjfrench congrats on your 2kg loss, thats a good going 😀

@at thanks today will be my first full day in my new office. I have to climb 18 steps and it is hot as all get out up there. Trying to stay positive.
Think my FD might turn into a LFD or OMAD. Ate and drank a little more then I should have over the weekend. Up one pound so I am grateful that after today it will go away. Just feeling bloated.

Managed quite well on my very social weekend. Scale this morning still quite kind keeping me a maintenance.
Hope for a good week for everyone.
The Monday pocket list looks marvelous. I love how everyone here is such great support for all the others. Yeah! <3
Onward and downward.
FD today. Well,,,,my eyes must be fooling me, or I couldn’t believe what the scales said yesterday and wrote stayed the same. I usually weigh once a week, on Sunday. I thought it said I stayed the same, which I was glad. This morning I weigh and it showed that I was down 2lbs. What a way to start a Monday!!
I hope everyone finds a surprise for your Monday.

@AnnMarilyn I hope you bet to the bottom of your health issues. I’m on meds for a stomach issue and can’t seem to settle it enough to quit the meds. You’ll love retirement. I was retired several months and I suddenly realised I wasn’t stressed. I think a lot of us coast through live with high stress levels without realising.

ONWARDS AND DOWNWARDS
Day 11 UK FD
Head didn’t hit the pillow at 9pm last night bc I fell asleep in the bath, then fell asleep sitting up in bed – and woke up still leaning on the wall 8 hours later. Dang, that’s tired!
Ended up having some melon and then some just rice pudding for supper last night – the usual brown rice, almond milk, raw cacao, vanilla, cinnamon and sprinkling of raisins joined by a nuked banana. Inspired by @shinything – so glad you like the yog/honey/cacao combo, it’s my go to feel good pud now! Cacao’s a real mood-booster without the sugar & calories of chocolate 🙂
Monday is usually a rest day for me but so many project bits on the go, and need to pick up lots of odds and ends before things unravel. I’ve had a strange morning of answering emails as they come in and reading articles while still in PJs! Now going to do yoga & meditation for an hour, then type up the various lists into one, prioritise and schedule the actions tho the week is pretty full.
I’ve got my annual pre-birthday haircut tomorrow morning (!) a couple of skype meetings already scheduled, an optician appt that’s c3 years overdue, and a friend coming to tea later in the week. Plus another lovely friend in hospital & really short of visitors but can only be visited at particular times. Also my DD is v keen to go out for the day for my birthday on Saturday. Not much time left for actually Doing The Work, and need to practice good self care such as food & sleep. Time to get my head in a good place and get focused!
Meanwhile back at 5:2, i seem to be 152lbs this morning, which is my lowest in at least a decade. I’ll claim it when it’s a regular occurrence; for now it’s a welcome visitor reminding me of what’s possible.

Day 11, Finland NFD
I had a FD yesterday starting on my night shift at 4am. My OH just doesn’t get this WOL at all…he kept offering me food all day..chocolate, biscuits, ice-cream…
@diana123 expensive business losing weight, but how nice to have to clean your cupboard of too big clothes!
@cornish-jane, @arelkade will check out those yoga YouTube sites
@daffodil2010 thanks for your input…I was suspecting it was just a marketing ploy. I will stick with my fresh made juices and enjoy the flavour of fresh fruit/veg.
@rainbowsmile I also use Jason Vale and Joe Cross from Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead documentary. You use lots of interesting ingredients…dandelion leaves? I have come to love ginger, never tried cinnamon. Let us know how Les Mills on demand goes…have thought about it before but never went further than that.
@at glad you have enjoyed your long birthday celebrations! Thanks for the rhubarb cake recipe, will give it a go!
Sounds like lots of people have had wonderful holidays recently or to come. We don’t have a family summer holiday this year, my holidays aren’t until August when the kids go back to school. We are already planning something for next year though… everyone’s comments about Croatia are inspiring me to put that as my suggestion!
Off to get ready for annual summer catch up with my good friend. Will be controlled alcohol wise as both of us are driving, and in view of good number on scales this morning will be very mindful in food choices.
Have a great day everyone, keep smiling, cos losers are winners and winners are grinners!

The sun is back out after a rainy weekend! It’s fresh and beautiful!
Ready for a LFD. Thought I made mostly good choices on the weekend but the scale is going the wrong direction.
@kaywesterman, @cornish-jane, @daffodil2010, strawberriesandcream, @at, @shinything @debster251 thank you for your supportive well wishes.
@cjfrench – great start – congrats!
@flourbaby – when my son & I were in Peru, we took advantage of our breakfast as it was part of the package. They had a lot of great offerings. I tried to eat to satiation; not stuffing. We did a lot of walking. It was only a week but glad to come home w/o a gain.
@kaywesterman – love your morning surprise 2lbs down

Hello All,
Day 1, NFD, Germany
New here, on my first day of my new, healthier lifestyle. Tomorrow is my first FD. 🙂
Don’t have scales here, so i will not be able to follow the weight loss. Only in cms.
My goal is two have 2 only water or fruit/veggies FDs per week and follow 16:8 on NFDs. I’m really curious how this will work out for me.
Can you explain me how these pocket lists work?
What is B2B?
Can I just add myself to the spreadsheet now?
Day 11 second post
@annemarilyn hope your last 6 days go as well as possible, and your health issues settle down very soon
@diana123 hope your first days in your new office go better than expected x
@annamariav Welcome to the June Challenge! Please do add yourself to the spreadsheet and make yourself at home. A fasting pocket list is the list of people fasting that day – adding ourselves to it for accountability and solidarity – together we’re stronger; B2B is back to back fast days (FD). The first post in this thread answers a lot of questions but do ask away if you have any more – and good luck with your first fast day tomorrow 🙂
Just tidying up the pocket list – there were a few incarnations 🙂

Day 11 – NC, USA – NFD
Quick check in for me today. I totally indulged on Saturday at a graduation party catered by a chef I adore so I enjoyed it. But since I was afraid of the damage I might have done, I added a FD yesterday to rectify the situation immediately. As a result, no NFD today. Not sure if I’ll add a 3rd FD this week yet, but so far no bump in the scale. Phew! Definitely trying to stay under my TDEE today and tomorrow.
Sending lots of good positive vibes to all of you, especially if you are fasting today!
USA Day 11 FD
Welcome AnnamariaV. I do 16:8, too, in addition to my FD and NFDs. Good luck with your program! 🙂
So far today, my FD is going well. I should end the day with 507 calories.I went to both yoga class and personal training, so feeling well so far and not a bit hungry. I like to exercise when I fast. I hope to fast on Wednesday and Friday but am not certain if any will be a water fast. Hope everyone is doing well today!
USA Day 11 NFD
Today isn’t a fast-day but I find I’m currently a bit mopey. Probably because I’m wearing shorts. Last summer i was thinking this pair was too big. Now they’re quite snug. I’m finding it so hard to be patient with slow and steady weight loss. I’ve only been back fasting for 2 weeks. And I desperately want to get out of the 170s (lbs)Thinking maybe I should do something drastic like Atkins (like I’ve done in the past-and had limited success) I could use some wisdom from my patient Maintenance-friends here! You guys are like Gandalf or Papa Smurf 😉
Thank you @michelinme and @ccco!
I’m pretty excited, will definitely post tomorrow!
🙂
USA Day 11
2nd Post
AnnamariaV: I love your enthusiasm! Keep it up and you will certainly succeed
Rainbowsmile: It appears that you have quite a few of those exams! I will keep your success in my prayers!
I’ve successfully finished my FD and have closed my kitchen! One day at a time to success! See you all tomorrow! 🙂
Day 12 – Japan – NFD 78.6kg
It was a good fast even though I was feeling a bit off. I think I had too many tomatoes on Sunday.

Day 12 Belfast NFD (CD)
Successful fast yesterday and feeling positive. The scales are on the downward trend and that yo yo inch around my middle seems to be reducing. Yay! My belly fat seems quite wobbly and my fat suit seems to have shrunk a bit. Hoping for a good downward trend this month. I entered my stats on the tracker this morning and I am 1lb from my original goal. I have amended that down another few lbs in my quest for a skinnier waist.
@annamariav welcome to this amazingly international and supportive forum. A couple of thoughts. A fellow co worker had not weighed herself for 20 years and had no idea what she weighed. She had a pair of ‘measuring pants’ which she tried on once a month. If they were a little tight, she cut down. Impressively, these pants/trousers had fitted her all that time. As you will read here, those scales – known as Cruella to some – can be very divisive. The proof is in the inches loss and this can often happen without any movement in actual weight. You will read many variations here. My advice would be to stick to the basic 2 fast days at the beginning until you get into the swing, then experiment if you wish. Fasting can be hard at the beginning but gets easier as you go along. Good luck!
Hang in there @rainbowsmile. You can do it!
It’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get up that counts.
Have a good day everyone.
Day 12, Cornwall UK, NFD
Good fast yesterday but caught my OH snacking on currants when he should have been fasting. He looked so guilty! LOL. He’s at healthy weight now so not such an issue for him.
Woke up late so no long post. My sleep is improving slowly and its much better now. When I 1st started 5:2 I was waking really early. My brain must have adjusted.
Won’t buy any sourdough bread today – then I won’t eat it all! Control….
@cornish-jane your post made me laugh out loud. In my quest to beat that sugar dragon I found I couldn’t go past the jar of currants in the cupboard. A handful here, a handful there…. I’ve stopped buying them! You’re right. Control🤐. We all chase our demons!
Day 12 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
2nd B2B
Lovely sunny morning…again! Jeez, I could get used to this. It has not properly rained in my part of Ireland for nearly 6 weeks!! Ireland of its incessant rain, 40 shades of green, blah blah…..but no rain here in Co Meath. I am out hosing the garden every evening and that’s not normally a June job. Guess it’s good payback after the very cold snowy Spring with we had.
Anyway…..dropped a couple of pound from weekends carbohydrates gain. I looked and felt very puffy yesterday..my face was more rounded and my tum was more pronounced and jiggly than usual. Look more normal today, so hoping to flush it out with extra green tea and water.
I am glad I made the decision to push further fir my maintenance goal. Otherwise right now I would be in the Acceptable Weight Range and already over the weekend I could feel complacency coming in….”sure I am only 9 stone, this bag of salt and vinegar crisps and bottle of wine won’t do too much harm”…..etc etc etc……
But that the EXACT kind of thinking that made me regain my weight a few years ago.
So today it’s another FD.
Day 12 – lets do this
@daffodil2010
Day 12, UK, NFD
Enjoyed a good FD yesterday – around 700 cals. Whilst today is an NFD, I’m still sticking to OMAD and shouldn’t be much over BMR.
Thanks @at – I’m back on 5:2 with 100% mojo intact! 🙂 Glad to hear your birthday celebrations have been fabulous 🙂 x
Wow – I’m curious about your annual haircut @michelinme, do you go from short to long over the year? I too am having a haircut today and am going very short – a la Jamie Lee Curtis (for the third time).
@lorky35 – experience has shown me that putting on the self pressure soon backfires. Try to relax and just take one day at a time, take a look at your overall diet and see if you can cut the starchy/refined carbs anywhere. Dr.M. suggests a mediterranean based diet which is generally low carb, healthy fat and moderate protein based.
Hang on in there @rainbowsmile, your exams will soon be over.
Congratulations @debster251 – that’s great news.
Great news for the world on TV this morning – it seems that common sense may well be prevailing at long last.
Onwards & downwards.
Day 12 – UK – Reading – FD
A semi-successful day yesterday, so one more today and then I’m taking my foot off the accelerator. Good to here Ireland is enjoying sunshine without rain, @daffodil2010. I was there a couple of years ago and we had a glorious week and it was all everyone was talking about. Global weirding maybe?
Day 12, London, UK, FD
Well, the weekend wasn’t a complete disaster, but I’m certainly glad it’s a FD today!!! I ate quite sensibly, but I think it’s definitely the vino that throws me off track, the scales have become bouncy-bouncy again and the ONLY reason it could be is the booze!!!! I’ll stick to social drinking only & as I’ve nothing else planned this month I’ll see what extra fat can be eradicated for the rest of June!!!!
@moukinator, this will be my 2nd time to Cyprus and we’ll be in Paphos this time. The 1st time was a couple of years ago for a wedding, so not really a holiday!!
To those missing ( missed) I hope your journey is going smoothly and the elusive mojo is returning ….. to name a few, @mjrbcd44, @bigviking, @steve toon taxi driver ….
Happy fasting everyone!
Day 12, UK, NFD
Yesterday was a successful but very difficult FD , I felt hungry all the time which is unusual, I usually might feel the hunger but then it passes. I did not pass yesterday. Funny though, I woke up this morning not feeling hungry 😐 . My weight has been reconfirmed at 52.5 kg, happy about that 🙂
@annamariav welcome to our challenge and good luck with your first FD 😀 , you can do it 💪
@lorky35 – “You guys are like Gandalf or Papa Smurf ” – too funny 😂
@rainbowsmile good luck with exam, you will be relieved when its over, and its not long time to go now 🙂
Off to work I go, have a great day everyone and stay strong 🙂
Day 12 – CD; Dublin, Ireland (71.3kg)
Hi everyone,
a successful MFD of 750kcal yesterday means I am back down to my pre-Poland weight again, same for the fiance. As long as we don’t get derailed again this month – which we shouldn’t as not having any more visitors for a while – then I think we are both on track to meet our goals for June. 6kg to go until I reach my (current) goal-weight. Just taking it 1kg at a time.
Hoping for a nice CD today…maybe a run after work, if my knees agree to it.
We booked our summer holiday, yay! Slovakia and Cyprus in August, full-on wedmin here we come!
Good luck to everyone fasting today 🙂
Second post …
Just wanted to add to what @flourbaby said about our friends missing from this forum that I too hope everyone is doing well. Another name that I haven’t seen for a while is @onlyhermes whose gentle posts I miss. Be well all 🙂
Day 12 – Iceland – FD
Many great posts to catch up on after a busy weekend! Went out to buy new linen trousers yesterday, as the ones from last summer have gotten too big, found the same trousers and to my big surprise I fit into size 10, compared to 16 last summer (which was even a little tight back then)! Not quite down three sizes in tops yet, need to lose about 15cm off my waist to have a healthy waist/height ratio…🍎🙈 Well, I am working on it!
Pocket List for Day 12 – good luck all!
