Oh, @daffodil2010 – it sounds like you had a lovely day with lots of cake and wine. Perfect. And getting into your lovely dresses – what a nice present :-). I had a good FD yesterday, so will do one more today and then that’s it for the week. Good progress (at last) so it looks like I might be going on holiday at my target weight. Yipee!

    Day 7 London FD

    Just popping in.
Dawning very late for me but I need to just half my portions!
Over the weekend OH and I shared meals we bought out and I ate slower to savour the smaller portions and found I was satisfied at the end of the meal.
Last night without thinking I poured all the pasta I made on my plate and didn’t stop till it was all gone, never giving my brain and belly a chance to work together and tell me to stop. Better to leave it in the saucepan as as I won’t leave it on the plate!
I’m a slow learner with this brain retraining.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Ta x

    Day 7, London, UK, FD

@at, I’ll be smiling at that gorgeous creature in the mirror in no time at all!!! My dad would never let us eat or even drink whilst walking on the street, he was a real stickler for good manners – from elbows off of the table or no vests at the table, “May I be excused from the table” to correct knife & fork etiquette!!! I cringe regularly when I see people – sniffing their food, slurping from their spoon or even their cup (!!) eating from their knife, resorting to using just their fork to cut then stab!! I could go on for ever, I’m not curmudgeonly ………………… but I don’t want to see the chewing process up close & personally ………………… CLOSE YOU MOUTH WHEN YOU’RE EATING!!!!! ………………………….. Phew!!!!

@redrockgirl302, Welcome back!! I’ll take inspiration from you for my holiday at the beginning of July, I really don’t want to return with +10lbs excess baggage like last year!!!!!

The increased exercise is doing me no end of good!!! Boxing class last night almost killed me, even though I’ve religiously done the 30 Day shred for the previous 7 days!!! What I have noticed is ………….Drumroll please …………………. A waist!!!! The pooch is soft squidgy and disappearing fast (reverse crunch anyone??), there is ‘thigh gap’, the ‘girls’ are perkier and that weird roll of back-fat (I know!!!) has actually completely disappeared – in 7 days!!!!! I really have to credit the 30 Day shred ……………………. Day 1 came close to killing me, now today, at day 8 I KNOW I’ll complete it puffed but NOT dead and the visual rewards are nothing short of amazing!!!! Dare I wonder what I’ll look like at the end of the 30 Days??????? Also, I find exercising on a FD is great because after exercising I don’t want to eat, so I’ve been doing OMAD – large salad or Soup on FDs at 4pm then exercise at 7, shower then bed; and on NFDs the same except it’s a normal meal with extra veggies at 4pm!!!

Onward & Downwards people, keep the faith!!!!

    Day 7 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

Another Thursday, another FD……just keeping on keeping on 🙂

    Day 7, Guildford UK, CFD

@basyjames hurrah! Excellent news! Plate autumn be gone.

@flourbaby manners make the man! My grandmother was insistent on it.

@daffodil2010 I have some gorgeous images of you in my head in your best outfits eating cake.

@dingping potion control isn’t my strong suit with pasta. Or any carbs or wine or cake or cheeeeeeeese

Cheeeeeeeese even the word has a luxurious air. The love handles from hell are all made of cheeeeeeeese.

    Must stop thinking of cheeeeeeeese.

    Day 7……Florida…..CD

Did very well after dinner last night, because I went for a stroll around the neighborhood. Everyone in my house was gone untilvery late, so the evening stroll kept me out of the kitchen after my veg and fruit dinner. According to the app, I used I walked 1.19 miles in 21 min. And burned 94 calories.

I’ve decided Im going to try and make a stroll of the neighborhood a regular thing after dinner!

Early day today, so I’m off!

Japanese legend says…….if you are not sleeping at night it is because you are awake!

Day 7 – CD; Dublin, Ireland

Managed to go for a run last night! On the upside, this means I burned some valuable calories so I didn’t feel too bad about the Thai take-away we had for dinner. On the downside, I think I tried to do too much too quickly and managed to injure my left knee. I’m gonna rest it for a few days and try again next week – I really want to run the half-marathon in September!

Thursdays are food market days at work, so will get a nice burrito that will most probably tide me over for the rest of the day. Hoping for a comfortable controlled day today.

@daffodil2010 – congrats on fitting into your dress! One of the reasons I want to lose weight is so I can fit into a particular dress at our wedding reception. I’ve only worn it twice before and I was quite a bit slimmer back then. If I’m being totally honest, the dress I REALLY want to be able to wear again, I only wore once…6 years ago. But I’m not sure if even dropping 10kg will get me back into it. Oh well, we’ll see. That goal is still very far away.

Right now I’m just happy to see the scale numbers going steadily down.

Good luck to everyone fasting today!

    Day 7, Finland, NFD

Hello everyone. Am having a lazy day before starting night shift, but I will get a jog/walk done while my daughter is at gymnastics practice. Will start tomorrows FD at 8pm tonight.

    Day 7, UK, FD

I’ve been super busy, hardly any time to read never mind reply 😓 . Today is a welcome FD since last evening I had a bit of a face stuffing 😣

I will have more time tomorrow for socialising, but I just wanted to say @daffodil2010 Happy belated Birthday 🎂 🌹, I hope you had a fantastic day and you
have even better year ahead 😀

Sorry if I missed it, if I have just add me, I will start pocket list:

    @shinything

Have a great day everyone ❤

Day 7 just checking in, I had Dental surgery yesterday, so I’m not a happy camper. You would think I could just fast since its so hard to eat, but the opposite happens, I just want to comfort myself. Oh well, I will get back at it hopefully tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone regarding my questions on how you eat on fast day, they are very helpful. Seems most of you prefer to eat most of your calories at the main meal, that is probably what I will try to do as well.

FD today. @shinything thanks for your hugs. It was tough but I made it through. Getting back to my “normal” routine, doing art. @linda329 hope you have great healing. I also save my calories for my main meal. Drinking lots of water throughout the day also helps me not feel too hungry.
    Everyone have a great day.

Sorry if I missed it, if I have just add me, I will start pocket list:

    Day 7 USA (Illinois) NFD

DAFD was pretty good. Ate just barely over TDEE. Finished off a container of butter pecan ice cream just to get it gone!

Interesting articles here, especially “Is a Calorie a Calorie” about why I shouldn’t eat much ice cream. Carb calories are different from protein calories:

    https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/2-major-myths-about-calories-to-reconsider/?utm_source=mfp&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MFP_Newsletter_20180607&os_ehash=55@sfmc:3637875

As one who absolutely abhors counting calories, I adore My Fitness Pal. Once I entered all my data (on the free app) I just had to remember not to post any exercise I do as it skews the TDEE up too high.

@redrockgirl302 – great to see you back. I agree. Let’s extol the praises of IF and using 16:8 as desired.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 7 – USA – NFD

Great FD yesterday, 503 calories. @RedRockgirl, welcome back! @mogaman, enjoy your vakay! @ktcaroline, wonderful to hit your target wt. before holiday! @flourbaby, love your posts – so engaging and enthusiastic! @rainbowsmile, you are so funny! I love cheeeeeeese too! @moukinator, take care of that knee! @linda329, a few of us have had medical/dental procedures in the last year or so and it’s not fun; hope you feel better soon.

Day 7 North Canton OH FD#4

Love Jillian Micheals I have the Fit in 30 DVD and although she really kicks my behind, I agree with @flourbaby, I get great results every time I complete the series.

@bert1802 spinach artichoke and kale and feta cheese sounds like a great combo, it was probably the wrap the package came in that put you over the top….and my mouth is still wide open from shock and awe at your story – What the HECK?!!!

@daffodil2010 I am so proud of and happy for you, the little black dress from 1989 fits! Mike drop!!!!

@rainbowsmile still rolling with laughter at your CHeeeeeeeeese description 🙂

@songbirdme, thanks for sharing the article, I got it as well and saved for later but now I can read on the big screen because my vision is not what it used to be even with glasses (shakes head in sorrow)

Continuing the pocket list. By the way down another pound, 2 to go. I have found that when I actually start shedding the pounds, it’s like a runaway train; it feels like they have been holding on for dear life and they are finally like “hands up, I surrender”

    Day 7 FD Dublin, Ireland

Second FD of the week, and month, all going well so far.

@linda329 I must admit I am the opposite with meals on a FD and try to spread out my calories over the whole day as much as I can trying to eat little but often. I suffer from the dreaded “hanger” so doing it this way means my OH does not fear for his life on FD 🙂 Hope this helps!

Hard to believe this time last year I was in Chicago and met up with @songbirdme and @chitowngal – happy memories!

Meant to say we have increased our flock by 3 – replacing 2 which we lost for reasons unknown and an additional one – Dot and Princess are now joined by Rita, Patricia and Beanie. Patricia the youngest has not laid an egg yet but we now get a creamy brown from Dot, Green from Beanie, White from Princess and a darker brown from Rita. They look lovely in an egg box and even nicer to eat!

Welcome home @redrockgirl302 and well done @daffodil2010 on the dress – what a result!

This should be an easy FD as I am so stressed out and don’t feel like eating.

Whelp today I am being forced to move out of my department to a mile away location, with no plan on how to move my office. Removing me from my team yet still expected to perform my job, not a very happy camper right about now. So here I sit until someone comes along and moves me. The joys of working for a large corporation in States away and has no idea what the logistic of my job are. Only the bottom number.

    Day 7 UK NFD

Just a quick check in today as having quite a hectic day which is not being helped by my house being turned upside down as we have some builders in.

But at least my twin sister is coming over tonight and we’re going out to Blackpool for the day tomorrow like the big kids we are. 😁🎢🎡

    Day 7 France

Today was meant to be a FD but turned into a NFD after being up with the baby half the night and needing something to boost my energy levels today. Well … my brother who is visiting at the moment decided he wanted to go to a specialty chocolate shop nearby and insisted on buying me a little cake…. so im glad its a NFD but still feeling a bit guilty! He only comes once a year tho so its kind of an ‘isolated incident’

    FD will be tomorrow

@coda we have a flock of chickens too… just lost 2 chicks to cats 🙁 theres nothing nicer than a fresh egg as a treat!

On a side note, has anyone got tips on how to avoid being ‘snappy’ on Fast days? I find my temper is really short and things annoy me more?! Is this normal or just me and my temperament?!!! 😉

    Day 6 second post.
I’m just taking a little break from the sunshine.
I’ve decided to refit my bathroom. I was en route to a suppliers when I happened to pass a shoe shop with a sale……… ummm I bought three pairs! Oops! Ah well, a girl can’t have enough shoes and a little retail therapy is good for the soul.

@dingping – it took me a while to work that one out too!🤪
    @mogaman – have a great holiday
@daffodil2010 – you are a total inspiration. Glad you enjoyed your birthday and well done on getting into your dress.
@linda329 hope your mouth heals soon.
    Thanks for the link @songbirdme.

OK with all this talk of a 30day shred, I just had to google it and it looks doable so….yes, Flourbaby, your post has convinced me …I’m joining ya!
And my upbringing came from the same book as yours. Hence I’m a bit anal about good manners and politeness. The only way to go. My OH even walks on the outside of the pavement (his good manners, not from me)

30 day shred here I come!

Day 7, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

    Lovely people,

Thank you so much for all the welcome back messages. I really feel that I am in a wonderful family.

    @daffodil2010: Happy belated birthday. 🎂🎈🎉.

Also, congratulations to all of you.💐
I read the posts and can tell that you are all doing fabulously, putting in lots of effort and it is paying off. Fitting in dresses from years ago, getting fit and feeling great.😊😊😊

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! 🌼🌻🌹

    Day 7 UK FD

Strange day #3 – this could get old quite quickly. But on the bright side I’ve successfully fasted all day and now headed for late supper & an early night. Glad to read posts and sorry not to be able to respond more. Hoping I’ll be able to dive back in in a day or two

meanwhile a friend has sent me a link to a BBC tv programme from last night, examining the role & function of carbs, both good & bad

@basyjames so pleased about your incipient whoosh, and congratulations on getting towards Goal

Today was going to be a liquid FD but turned into a 500 cal one as I decided to participate in a surprise retirement “meeting” at the beginning of the school day. So I began the LFD at 9:00 am. Just shifted my plan. I will miss some of my colleagues.

@RedRockgirl – good for you with maintaining all that while during your European time. You’re an encouragement to the rest of us.

Yesterday ended up a NFD so ready for FD today!

Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    Day 8, Guildford UK, NFD

Yesterday turned from a CFD to a NFD. I was hungry and ate two, (yes two) wholemeal rolls with pate for lunch.

    So almost a feast day.

    Yuk!

I think not enough protein and too many carbs. That triggers my Hunger.

Plus I am studying and struggling.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 8, Surrey (UK), NFD

158.6lb this morning, after a good FD yesterday. Slow and steady loss, just like a good Tor-Twah! Thank you for replies to my first post of June. WE all know, through our own experiences, that this WOE works. But how would you convince a sceptic? I have this fantasy of being able to convince the world to adopt this WOE, by saying, “Look at me! IT WORKS!” – but I fear folks won’t be convinced until some large scale study is conducted to show exactly HOW and WHY it works. Meanwhile the unconvinced overweight are stuck with outdated advice from our dear old NHS, and being referred to the branded slimming clubs….ah well, such is life!

Anyway – my hairdresser said that I have lost fat off my HEAD! Apparently my hairline has changed in the past 6 weeks! The time before that, about 3 months ago, she said she could not see any difference in my appearance. So, it seems the fat does go away from odd places and at odd times! @dykask, I dream of the day my wedding ring will fall off. My fingers remain persistently fat, though it’s nice not to be a fathead any more!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Day 8 – UK – Reading – FD

Yesterday’s FD turned into more of a CD so having another go today. It’s much easier now my OH is doing meal replacement shakes. So progress is being made. Summer here we come …

    Day 8, Cornwall UK, NFD

Phew! That was close. Lost 0.2kg this week, down to 76.9kg. I am inching along now and joining the tortoise club, but its down and I’m not complaining!

It was a lovely week, spending a lot of time out and about with visitors and enjoying my food big time. Felt a lot of regret yesterday, but told myself I need to spend time with loved ones when I have the opportunity.

Interesting how in darker days (like yesterday for me) that good ideas sometimes come. I woke up this morning with more ideas on how to expand my business, which I will investigate today.

@fatfingers – I did enjoy your post this morning. Funny you losing fat from your head! I’ve lost fat from my feet and gone down a shoe size. My OH has lost a lot of weight from his shoulders of all places. One day, your fingers will definately lose the battle and slim down!

I watched the BBC documentary on carbs last night and my OH was searching for foods with resistant starch this morning! He was mad that I’ve been eating Pumpernickel and sourdough breads for ages (because I like them) and he feels he has lost out! I’m glad as its easier to buy these things if we both eat them.

    Day 8, Dublin Ireland, NFD

Two successful fast days done this week and down 4lbs. There is nothing more motivating than seeing the scales going down. First week back on this WOL so hoping to continue with a 1lb – 2lb loss each week going forward.
On another note my energy levels are starting to improve which is something I had forgotten is another plus to this WOL. I normally find it really difficult to get myself out of bed in the mornings but this morning I felt rested and ready to face the day when my alarm went off.

Beautiful weather here in Dublin today, long may it last!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

    Day 8 London FD

A nothing day yesterday a bit blah but stuck to FD.

@diana123 – hope logic overcomes your logistics problem!
@cornish-jane – glad you found some pep and positivity.
@debster251 – slow learner but I’m getting there and thanks @songbirdme I’ll take a look, so much to learn!
@annemarilyn – It’s always the people that make a place and the memories.
@rainbowsmile – LOL Cheese Gromit? A sense of humour and struggling and studying, you’ll fly it!
    @basyjames – hurray for a runaway train!
@coda – love those chickens, don’t contented chickens make the most soothing noise ever? A bit of slow time in a hectic world.

Going to be more active today and step away from my desk, Fitbit on wrist, going to do some strolling like @bert1802 and see what the neighbours are up to!

    Have a great day

    Stay strong everyone!!!

    Day 8 NFD

Hi. Not posted for a while but still here and reading everything.

Had some friends round recently to swap clothes we’d stopped ( or never started) wearing. I was always bigger than the other two, but we seem to have swapped places. Never done clothes swaps before, but stripped to our bras and pants it was quite a revelation. One of them, on hearing how I’ve dropped weight, texted me to say ‘started 5:2 today’ so she was convinced.

Although I am getting the same comments as everybody else. ‘ you are too thin’ ‘ are you ill?’ Even tho I’ve only dropped one size. There must be some mythical perfect weight out there where nobody can make a critical comment. Would love to know what that is.

Thanks for all the support. Have a good day.

    Day 8….Florida….CD

Yesterday was a very nice CD. I was on the road majority of the day and then got super busy when I got back to the office, so ended up not leaving at 4 like I had planned! 9 hours at work was a hell of a day!

I came home and made a nice chicken Caesar salad and went for a stroll with my YS. I’m really looking forward to my days off!

@cjfrench……as you continue on 5:2 those side effect will subside. Please remember you are telling your body what to do and not letting your mind and belly tell you how it’s going to be. So, it will take minute for them to realize that you are now in control. Good thing is if you are feeling theses side effects also means you are now becoming aware of your physical being.
My only suggestion, is if you are experiencing this and controlling it with food is no longer an option….you must find away to change the behavior.
Some say meditation works well….I use the 10 sec rule….. Pause for 10 sec., formulate the response in your head, then respond out loud.

    Okay it’s time!

Japanese legend says that if you are not sleeping at night it is because you are awake!

    Day 8 UK CD

Today’s a day off as the next two days are pretty full. I’ve taken the time to lie in, read some articles and catch up with posts plus the weekly weigh and measure. Yesterday I got really down – deeply, viscerally down – seemingly out of nowhere but I think probably the accummulation of fatigue, effort, not paying attention or practicing the good things that keep me balanced and centred so that I don’t get blown about “by the changes & chances of this fleeting world”.

Despite another two good FDs this week my weight is the same, still stuck at the 153/4lbs that’s been mine since the end of April – despite an epic 12 FDs and only 3 feast days in May. My measurements are also largely the same, tho the 0.5″ that slipped last month has miraculously migrated back up from my waist to my bust! So seemingly there’s no change on the plateau.

But I feel …. different. I’m holding myself differently and I look different, clothes are fitting better even tho the inches haven’t shrunk recently.

This morning I took notice of the things I don’t usually measure – with surprising results. The fat covering my ribs and upper body has reduced and there’s the beginning of a dip between my ribs / over my stomach. The fat pad across my abdomen has gone down by 0.5″ since last week, my right thigh has lost an inch and my left thigh almost two inches – I am eating my fat suit!

My motivation to change – which brought me to this WOL – came from the realisation that my fat suit was growing. And from the feeling that as it grew it became a larger and larger barrier between me and the world, and also between me and myself – my inner world. There’s something about losing weight which exposes things to the light – strength and vulnerability, power and helplessness – and creates the opportunity to change and grow, in all the good ways.

I was struck by what @cornish-jane said about ideas coming in dark times. When we respond to painful feelings by eating, we lose the opportunity to learn from them – sometimes painful lessons, but often really helpful ones. To know what works for us and doesn’t work, to understand our priorities, our connections with others and also our differences. To be true to ourselves. And sometimes that change is happening while we’re busy looking in other places.

No idea where all that came from! But that’s me done for the day – now on to a belated yoga, meditation, baking bread – an extra loaf for tomorrow’s community picnic, an hour of project work & planning, and a hedge to trim. Future Me will be happy that I took the day off, and that I spent time looking ahead.

@fatfingers thank you for sharing your fat head story – which led me to think about the fat in different places 🙂

    Together we are stronger x

hello day 8 NI may or may not be a FD

Travelling to Galway later in the day and as OH has had his lunch I may just keep going. Last night ended a little higher than I had intended maybe more like around or just above 800 so controlled but not quite a fast? Saturday will be controlled during the day but OH and I plan to go out for dinner and we know a lovely restaurant that do very nice (large) G&T’s.

@michelinme – I am eating my fat suit! – lol love it!

I saw that Carb programme too – interesting and OH went out a bought a lovely soughdough loaf – hence why my fast day was 800 rather than below 500 lol. Will have to look for a Pumpernickel one.

    Day 8, Cornwall UK, NFD

    2nd post

@michelinme – sorry you are feeling rotten today. Hope the mood lifts soon and you can get back to your happy self. Maybe dark days are necessary sometimes as it reminds us what it feels like to be in the right place?

@coda – I did think we might end up eating more carbs rather than less after watching that BBC programme! I normally try to keep sourdough for special occasions as I can eat a lot, and now I have permission to eat it all the time!

@daffodil2010 – I missed your post this morning. I often look at for your morning postings and hope you have not been derailed temporarily by your birthday celebrations! You are so close to your goal that a few extra pounds can be dispatched in no time.

    Day 8, Sicily, nfd

Daffodil2010 happy belated birthday 🎁. I hope you enjoyed the day and have a fabulous year ahead of you.

Debster251, At, and basyjames thank you. I enjoyed the beautiful graduation ceremony and the reception afterwards. Yesterday the students had a bbq and were presented with prizes those who had any. My son traveled with us to Sicily yesterday and He missed the bbq. The headmaster told me that Daniel our son needed to go to school next week to collect five prizes. He got first prize in class in physics, chemistry and biology, first prize in form in biology and second prize in form in English language.

I’m having a lovely 😊 time here in Sicily and so are all of us. My son is enjoying it especially because my sister in law and my niece from New York are with us. I’m enjoying the lovely food but when we’re dining out I only eat two courses instead of three. I normally omit the dessert. However this morning while at a seafront cafeteria I ate a cannolo di ricotta. I am enjoying this holiday. I mean to get back to track once we’re in Gozo, Malta next Sunday evening.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone. Onwards and downwards

Day 8 – MFD; Dublin, Ireland

As expected, the burrito I had for lunch yesterday was so filling that I ended up not having anything for dinner. Which is just as well, cos I’m not sure if I will actually stay under 800kcal today – breakfast and lunch came to 600kcal!

My parents are flying in for the weekend, going to see Michael McIntyre (comedian) tomorrow, really excited! Must have only salad for dinner tonight, I must!

Day 8, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

Yesterday’s FD morphed into NFD. I have to be careful to stay in maintenance and not gain. Would like a little wiggle room so that I can easily accommodate all these upcoming summer parties.😊

@michelinme: Loved your philosophical contemplation. 🌷🌼🌻

@coda: Can you tell me about the BBC documentary about carbs? I cannot watch it here. What is this about sourdough and pumpernickel? Thanks! 😊

    Have a wonderful Friday everyone!🦋

    Day 8 USA (Illinois) NFD

Didn’t eat much yesterday, which was good, to keep at maintenance. Busy as a bee with too many activities for a retired music teacher (or anyone retired!). Nice gentle rain today will keep me out of the garden at least. Let God water my flowers.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 8 Wales NFD

After yesterday’s FD I saw a new low of 130.6 lbs on the scales this morning, I know this will bob back up over the weekend but it is reassuring to know that I am comfortably within my maintenance range.

I’m away for leg vein treatment next week so will probably not be posting, but I will be back to report in before the end of the month….if not before.

Enjoy June everyone, and remember, keep on keeping on!

Day 8 – SW WA USA – FD

@fatfingers – interesting that you’ve lost fat from your head.

Some are using MFD – what does the M stand for? I hadn’t seen that on this forum until recently.
