Day 11- UK – CD
Early aerobic class this morning followed by a volunteer stint in the soup kitchen 1000-1400hrs!
Back home for a shower and to start thinking about packing for my trip leaving on Sunday morning as busy over the next two days…..
@flourbaby – I’m with you on the exercise from this week 😇 tried to rev it up a bit before the laziness of holidays – going to try to and keep up with daily planks and hopefully some yoga……..
Mon – 1hr pilates + 1.5hr Yoga
Tues – 1.5hr hike + 1hr HIT Pilates
Wed – 1.5hr Yoga
Thurs – 1hr aerobic
Fri – 1.5hr hike
I have been very mindful of my eating this week, trying to increase my wriggle room before the holiday, I have to admit that being alcohol free has certainly done away with the snacking in the evening so thank you to the “Dry Januarians”
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying life
Day 11 California FD?
I’m about an hour and a half away from completing a 36 hour WFD. It sort of started out as unintended yesterday since I was busy at work and didn’t have a lot of time to eat during the day. But after reading about several people here during water fasts, I decided to go with it. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel much hunger at all and definitely don’t feel hungry this morning. I haven’t decided whether this will be a regular 500 calorie FD for me, like I usually do on Thursday, or if I’ll use yesterday as my second FD of the week. I lost 700 grams overnight, much of it probably water weight. I definitely needed to get back under goal after all the holiday snacking, and this accomplish that.
Hope everyone is having a great day today and achieving their goals.
Day 11 Akron OH, I am very late posting today because of back 2 back meetings out of my office this morning.
@miraclelou I practice B2B2B FD because it fits my routine better. I work M-F and I have gotten into the habit of not eating at work beginning Mondays except for one mocha café escapes Keurig pod in the morning (or two if I get really hungry) I eat a LCHF dinner when I get home. After doing this for a couple of days in a row, I usually have a burst of energy and better sleeping patterns, so I feel motivated to continue that for another day. I take a break on Thursday, eat OMAD on Friday, eat normally on Saturday and Sunday and I am usually ready to fast again by Monday.
This pattern organically evolved over time; as I got in the habit of listening to my body and it works great for me. If I find I am losing too much weight, I eat an extra treat or two on Saturday; but I usually rein it in on Sunday in preparation for Monday.
Day 11, Wales, UK, FD
Today has been an exceptionally tough fast day. I have been hungry and unable to concentrate very well. I have had a few bursts where I could get work done, but they have been brief and easily aborted at the smallest obstacle.
To be honest – I can’t wait for it to be tomorrow.
However, since I’ve made it till now (almost 8pm), I am pretty sure I’ll see it through.
Also, I guess it’s a slight improvement from Monday, where I did very little at all.
@leggit – I can always count on fluid retention after eating popcorn!
Day 11, Gozo Malta, nfd
Today I ate within my tdee. I weighted this morning and I was 66.5 kilos that is 0.8 kilos less then last Saturday. I want to be mindful of what I eat over the weekend so as not to increase and gain what I lost during my fast days. I might weigh myself next Thursday after my fast days.
Have a great evening everyone, onwards and downwards.
Second post, Day 11
@janejust, 2.2 kg in 11 days is great progress! Congrats!
@ultramel, are you remembering to drink a lot of calorie-free drinks on FD? That can help a lot with “the hungries” and with unruly stomach rumblings.
@leggit and @songbirdme, I love popcorn but agree the salt can result in a water weight gain. I use an air popper. Popcorn has a lot of fiber so it keeps me feeling full for quite a while.
Day 11 FD UK
Amazingly I’m just finishing my first ever B2B! I didn’t think I could do it, thought it was for people with a lot stronger will than me, but here I am. This B2B came about bc of yesterday’s accidental FD on a Weds. I usually fast Mon/Thurs. Ha! – “usually” says she, in her 2nd month / on her 42nd day!!! Yup, that’s me 🙂
So today was a FD too, cos I know I can do Thursdays, and here I am. Energised, focused and still fine after a day spent on water and black coffee – and a huge amount of adrenaline, but not in a buzzy way. Admittedly, I woke up aching all over this morning after yesterday’s long dayout on project meetings (I have a neuromuscular condition).
Switching off my alarm I saw an urgent message on my phone, sat up and started replying. After an hour I switched to my laptop, three windows open andjuggling messages, research and emails. Spent 12 hours on my laptop, still sitting in bed, with the odd stretch and bathroom break! But not one thought of food, of needing sugar or to self-medicate with food or anything. I drank a couple of black coffees and about 1.5litres fizzy water, and felt fine.
Disaster averted, excellent event set up, now I need to get up, stretch with some yoga, eat and shower and go back to bed! And tomorrow practice some really good self-care and boundaries. But goodness, the focus that comes with not being busy digesting, and not digesting starchy carbs or getting derailed and high with sugary snacks. My heartbeat has been slow and regular, my mind has been focused and my energy sustained. Tho I’m HUNGRY now, and looking forward to some stew with tofu or halloumi for supper.
@bigviking don’t beat yourself up, pick up tomorrow. You always inspire and encourage me with your pragmatism and determination, you can do this for yourself!
@molij – great to hear about your bread – hope it was yummy 🙂
@flourbaby – i’m a fantastic procrastinator too. 6 months to choose a printer, a year to choose a phone, 18 months to choose a washing machine! Really happy with all of them now tho
@pashaw – congratulations on your 6lbs and your blood tests – sounds great
@kerryn73 – great first post! Welcome, and amzingly well done. We’re all finding our way to weave this into our life, and it sounds as tho you’ve got off to a good start. It’s more of a marathon than a sprint, more of an exploration and a learning thing than a pick up and go. But once we’ve picked up we’re in a great place to keep going, encouraging and learning from each other. Great to have you here, and look forward to your hearing your thoughts as you go 🙂
Yesterday’s smart dress felt different because my bloated stomach seems to have gone missing since the last time I wore that dress in November. it seems my fat suit is shrinking -how exciting!
Day 12/NFD/Melbourne Australia/Dry Januarian
@borealis Yes! flexibility is the key to this WOL.
@at hope you’re packing for our fickle weather? Yesterday very hot and sunny. Hot, wet and humid today with chance of hail and thunderstorms. Tomorrow cool and wet. I’m sure you remember Melbourne’s four seasons in a day!
@michelinme fasting at work can be so much easier. I’m still trying to find my payyern now I’m retired.
Welcome back @taraga
@molij following your sourdough experiment. I love sourdough. How did it turn out?
@mari84 just 🤗 🤗
@saffy420 @shinything wishing you good health
@flourbaby 😂 it took me over 10 years to work out a solution for my back windows! Am I the queen of overthinkers (ditherer) or what!
@redrockgirl302 Ahh those pesky 🍿habits. I’m developing a sultana habit. For someone who gave up adding any sugars 50 years ago and not addicted to sweets of any kind it’s a little concerning. I’m pledging immediately to stop. Wondering though what triggered it. Perhaps the lack of 🍷🤔.
@pashaw just 😮 what a great start to the year. Good luck with the blood tests.
@daffodil2010 Thank you for sharing. Love your very descriptive posts.
@bert Such sage advice. ‘Honesty helps you become a better person’ in more ways than one. One of the first things I learnt following this WOL was being honest with myself. It really helped me weed out the negatives and stop burying my head in the sand and blaming everything but my own behaviour for my weight and health. You are outstanding.
@fatfingers just think where you’ll be in 6 months. Not where you are now but so much lighter! Onwards and downwards.
@kerryn73 The number of posts can be overwhelming so just use us as a sounding board and scan the posts for any responses to your post. Counting calories can be overwhelming but can I suggest you work on portion control? Check the size of your crockery and glasses and literally downsize everything. You’ll be amazed how it helps psychologically. You’ll still be filling your plate but eating less calories. Will even help with the Baileys!
@mcnorma 😮 3.6 kg gone. I hope you find a pattern of eating soon. I love cooking and searched for delicious satisfying meals for fast days. I never felt deprived and the benefits carries over to NFDs.
@awilson. I missed it. What is the blender challenge?
@janejust great motivation
@ultramel could you share your fast day drinking and eating pattern. Perhaps we could help? Are you drinking enough fluids? Having a salty drink -miso soup, bone broth or bouillon at lunchtime can really help with what you are experiencing.
Have a great day everyone
Day 11, Germany, CD
My week was really good food wise so far. Mo, tue, Wed were FDs and today I don’t really know. Probably more sth between 700 and 1000 kcal.
I am still sick. My throat is hurting… Probably makes it easier for me to eat less…
My doctor told me today to stay at home tomorrow. I am honestly happy about it right now and think I will need this day to relax and get better!
Still haven’t weighed in in January 🙈
Maybe tomorrow?
Day 11, USA, Missouri Ozarks, CD
Had a great day today – out with friends for shopping and lunch. We get together once a week either for volunteer work/eating/shopping, etc. Have done so for about twenty years. Came home with lots and lots of fruits and veggies !
Ate at Wendy’s, had small chili, senior drink and Jr. Frostee. It was fine but one of my friends said she could never survive on that small of a lunch.
Well, I have survived thus far and think I will make it until tomorrow.
2018 SW 150.2, CW 146.4, GW 145
Wishing all well, off to catch up.
@basyjames thank you for your description of your way of living 5:2. I find it very helpful to hear how people develop their own ways of doing this WOL and how it works for them! Wish you a good omad Friday!
Day 11 – SW WA USA – FD
3rd FD of the week. One B2B and today.
@pashaw – Wow! already below January goal!
@daffodil2010 – thank you for your descriptions. You mentioned it being cold even though it’s officially summer. What type of clothes does one need to pack for this time of year? The info from the group my son and I are going with isn’t very detailed.
@fatfingers – 1 lb is to be celebrated! I’d love one real lb down each week. I’d be at goal before the year was done.
@metatauta – I don’t know if you have a Winco store in your area. I have found Winco stevia packets for a real bargain, and also Trader Joe’s jar of powdered stevia.
@McMorma – you can join the 11 or so of us “Sugar Slayers” for the rest of January.
@awilson – hang in there; if we don’t quit, pounds will shed 🙂
Hey, together we are stronger!
Day 12 (second time around 5:2)
New Zealand, Female, 30
Height 5’11’
Weight 161lb
Target 150lb
Hi! New to this forum and have loved reading the stories so I thought I’d share my own.
I first started 5:2ing back in 2015. During/following uni my weight had steadily gone up and I weighed in at nearly 200lb (90kg/14stone something). Eek. Having a love/love relationship with food and drink I found, and still find, ‘diets’ hard work.
Enter 5:2. After watching the BBC Horizon programme and reading the book, I was hooked. Easy to do. And you can always eat that lovely chocolate tomorrow right?!
Anyway, over the course of 2015 and into 2016 I lost about 40lb. This was combined with: decreased alcohol consumption (five booze free days a week), more water, more walking, more high intensity exercise like spinning and circuit training.
Through 2017 my weight went up and down a little and I pretty much ‘forgot’ about fasting. During that year around 10lb crept back on.
Since 1st Jan this year have been doing 4:3 to give myself a kick start and am also doing dry January. I have lost a somewhat startling 8lb in 12 days. So I’m quitting on 4:3 as that’s too much/too quickly in my view. 5:2ing again from next week and hoping for a steady 1-2lb of loss down to my target of 150lb over the next six weeks or so.
I will be 100% honest with those of you doing this for the first time…
1. Although easy in principle, in the real, messy world we call life, fasting can be hard. Be kind to yourself and don’t go on endless guilt trips about the cake you ate three days ago because you were sad or tired. Guilt is your enemy. Tomorrow is a new day.
2. I find the best success comes with adding exercise and more water to your life. Even walking is awesome.
3. Some weeks I have lost no weight at all. Other weeks I have lost 4lb. See this as a long term lifestyle change. Not a quick or short term diet.
4. Herbal tea and fizzy water are great tummy fillers as are the Hartleys 4kcal jelly tubs!
That’s all for now. Will check back in with some progress updates in the coming weeks.

Hi!
Female, New Zealand, 30yo
5’11”
Current weight: 161lb
Target:150lb
I’m posting for the second time today as my earlier post seems to have disappeared/ my technology skills are pretty rudimentary!
I’m 5:2ing for the second time around after successfully using the plan to get from nearly 200lb to 160lb. 2017 saw my weight go up and down and I came out the year 10lb heavier.
So it’s back to the old plan with a new goal to get to 150lb. Started off doing 4:3 for a boost but have lost 8lb since NYD so it’s a bit much/too quick in my view. 5:2 from next week. Mon and Thu have always been my go to fast days.
I would highly recommend increasing your water intake and exercising regularly to maximise the impacts. That said even when I had a knee injury and couldn’t train I still lost a steady 1lb a week.
Keep a food diary every single and actually write down everything that you eat! It works to make you think hard about that third or fourth biscuit (baked goods are my downfall!).
Looking forward to following journeys on here and sharing my own.

Day 12, Finland, NFD
Good morning everyone! Feeling great today after my FD yesterday. Even though I said i was only going to weigh in once a week, just had to stand on the scales this morning…down 1,2kg just since Monday. It is really motivating to control eating on NFD when you can see such great results quickly. BUT, still the weekend to get through before ‘weigh day’. Luckily back to work tomorrow which keeps my mind and hands busy.
Thanks for the great tips, definitely will control portion sizes @onahealthyhigh.
Have an afternoon exercise date with a friend, so knitting socks and watching tennis this morning.
Have a great day everyone!
Norway, Day 12, NFD
YEAH! all time low today (All time = after two pregnancies. I have been lighter pre kids!)! 85.4, woho! That is 1 whole kilo less than my lowest before Christmas! I love it, and I love it!
My measurement around my belly is now at a healthy level (80 cm), even though my BMI is still too high: 27,9. My height-to-waist ratio is now 0.46, so that’s good, at least.
I have now lost 8.6 kg, and I have 8.4 kg left to lose, so that means I am over the half-way-there line, jippiii!! I am very happy now, perfect start to the weekend! Maybe it can even inspire to a bit of control in the weekend? =D
Have a great day everyone =D
Day 12, Cornwall UK, NFD
Extending yesterday’s fast into today. This will be the first time I’ve tried B2B, and it is needed because my weekly weigh-in showed a 0.4kg gain. AAGHHH. First time I’ve gained on 5:2 outside of holiday time. And I was congratulating myself yesterday on how well I was doing. Starting my plank challenge, going for walks etc! And I think I enjoy sourdough bread too much.
I am back up to 88.9kg, but at least my waist and hips are down 1cm each this week. So, I’ve already told myself NOT to give up, as I have no other plan to reduce my weight and stay healthy, and it is the measurements that really count (I’ll take any good news I can get!). And my waist-height has gone down from 0.69 to 0.59 in less than six months, so another six months should get me into a more healthy range.
Congratulations @mari84 on your losses this week. I hope to be joining you next week!
Day 12 – Peru 🇵🇪- NFD
What a wonderful day we had on Lake Titicaca 😊. We joined a tour, off on a boat across the lake to the floating islands. These are inhabited man-made islands. They are a traditional way of life for about 3000 people, they wear traditional clothing, make their own crafts, make their own islands!!!! We visited Uros, one of the islands, had a chat with the island chief, then one of the men invited us into his home to see how they live. He has solar energy and a tv, a cell phone, but still lives a simple life with his wife and son.
He offered us the chance to dress up in traditional clothes which was fun. I looked funny with my red hair and freckles but DH looked the part! So much so he bought one of the traditional tops….good for wearing on the motorcycle he says 😁
Then we went to the island of Taquile. This😊is a UNESCO world heritage island and it was the most charming afternoon I have had in a long time. We met some of the community, their clothing was explained, single men wear red and white hats, married wear red, girls wear bright skirts, married ladies darker clothes. Their ways of courtship was so sweet. Both boys and girls carry mirrors and if the boy fancies a girl he uses his mirror to flash sunlight at her, if she likes him, she returns the flash with her mirror. Aww, so innocent- puts modern dating apps such as Tinder to shame 😀
We had lunch with the community, quinoa soup, grilled trout with vegetables. Then they threw a little show for us with dancing and panpipes and drums…..and the youngest boy, Junior, who is only 4, asked me to dance. Oh he was adorable 😍. They are such a lovely gentle people, living a simple life, happy and gracious. I loved it.
Off on a bus journey to Cusco today. Lots of stops to visit sites on the way. Another super early start. It does get tiring at this altitude. Morning and evening we are wrecked, but during the day there is a buzz of energy to us.
@annemarilyn if you are going to visit Arequipa, the Colca Canyon, or Puno (lake Titicaca) you will definitely need to bring rain gear, a fleece, a hat, maybe even gloves. It’s very warm in Lima so summer clothes but pack for all weathers. It’s the rainy season in the highlands but it only rains for a bit. We still have Cusco and Machu Pichu to visit but I reckon it could be all weathers 😊
Day 12, Guildford UK, NFD
@mari84 celebrating with you
@daffodil2010 so so pleased you are having such a great time
@cornish-jane I find the second day harder to start with but it gets easier every time
Mari
Day 12 – 🇬🇧- NFD
Yesterday’s FD went well & resisted the lure of cheese & biscuits left over from Christmas. I have to say so far so good……i’ve eliminated 4lbs – I can’t remember any other year starting so well 😊of course I now need to be careful, weekend approaching alarm bells start sounding!!!! I have a lovely weekend everyone 😎
Day 12 Akron OH FD
@beehealthy thank you for sharing your thoughts and journey
@miraclelou I hope you feel better soon, and you are welcome 🙂
@rainbowsmile frowny face in solidarity, I agree with @mjrbcd44 acne post puberty should be outlawed
@mari84 this calls for a celebration, Congratulations!!!
@cornishjane I agree with you that measurements count more; inches lost is a better indication of your trend IMHO and the scale can be so temperamental and unreasonable 🙂
All those in the eye of the storm today please stay safe. Everybody have a great weekend!
Day 12……Florida….FD
Well……….the truffles are all gone!!!! Yesterday, turned out to be a strange day……
FD turned into a NFD, The 2nd owner/boss finally decide to comeback to work, she’s been off since well before our Christmas break.
I must have chatted with her for over an hour before I left work! We chatted about life, the new girl, what we were going to do about filling an empty employment spot….
I think I had truly forgotten how much we bounced ideas and thoughts about life and work off each other.
I am very fortunate to have such kind hearted bosses, that they allow me to be who I am and don’t expect me to change my morals or beliefs. Plus, they are really good about letting you know where they stand and giving you the opportunity to provide feedback and solutions to anything that happens.
So, my plan today is to have a good ole FD, hopefully, the hubby talked about meeting me for lunch. As long as he doesn’t become knee deep in the painting of the bathroom.
Okay well……I’m offf before I lose momentum
I’m going outside to stand, so if anyone ask just tell them I’m OUTSTANDING!
Day 12 North Wales NFD
Feed back on my first sourdough loaf ……
@flourbaby I could not step away 😂 it smelt sooooo good. Finished my fast day just over the 800 I think. I am on maintenance and had had a fast day on Monday so hopefully not too much damage done. I agree with your key pieces of advice. Keep busy and drink till you slosh on a fast day. If I make cake on a fast day I can avoid tasting it, but that bread shouted at me too loudly.
@debster251 @ Michelinme @onahealthyhigh for my first sourdough loaf I was very pleased with the results. I had a good dark crust, a nice sour taste and quite a few holes. A friend who looked at it said it looked slightly over proved. Looking forward to making another to try and improve my technique. I followed the recipe on the web site called the perfect loaf. The dough was a high hydration loaf which I initially found difficult to handle. I did not have a banneton so I used a clean tea towel and a glass mixing bowl to get the shape.
@shinything I have been feeding my starter daily. When the bubbles start to subside I feed it again. The best fermentation I had was when I fed it with dark rye flour. Wow it went nuts.
Have a good day everyone x
Day 12 – USA – FD
@kerryn, I found out I am 22% Finnish! Who knew? I know you said you were actually an Aussie, but would love to hear more about you and Finland…it’s a heck of a lot of airfare to get there from the USA! @beehealthy, we seem to have the same weight goal; I am 5’4″, at the moment 169 lbs. with a goal of 150. @tlc2 and cornish-jane, congrats on your weight and measurement shaves! @daffodil2010, thank you for the “tour” of Peru through your interesting posts! My daughter went there in 2016 and I got a few pics with no narration or explanations, so it is quite a treat.
Day 12- Surrey (UK) – NFD
Oh my goodness, I’ve hit my January target already! Just – just – below 13st this morning, which is where I intended to be at the END of the month! It’s a DAFD (day after FD) for me, so perhaps that explains it!
So, time to revise the target. For the rest of this month, I aim to stick to my scheduled fasting days, and concentrate on eating well and within TDEE on NFD – plenty of veg; fruit; good protein; limited added sugar; limited simple carbs; alcohol only on special days. I’m aiming to feel good and – for now – let the weight take care of itself.
@beehealthy – it was inspiring to read your story. How interesting that you say that although fasting is ‘easy’ at the start, it’s actually hard to maintain for the long term. It makes me realise the importance of setting up good habits for the future. This is where this forum is, and will be I’m sure, so helpful.
Thank you, everyone, for sharing your stories. Please keep them coming!
Day 12 UK NFD
SW 81kg/178lb (1Dec17)
CW 77kg/170lb
GW 63kg/140lb
6 weeks today since I began and it’s the morning after my first B2B FD. Reviewing progresss, it seems my weight is slowly going down and my fat suit really is shrinking. I’ve now lost 4kg and 1.5in from my bust, an inch from my waist and (finally!) an inch from my hips, which had stayed stubbornly the same for 42 days. My BMI has gone from 28.7 to 27.3, and my height waist ratio from 0.545 to 0.53. It all looked very steady until I remembered that I’ve detoured via Christmas and am safely back on track!
Overall, my relationship with food has changed. I feel healthier, more alert, have more energy and am sleeping better. I’m less anxious, less emotional about food and more pragmatic generally. It feels like a journey that started about weight and health but is already something more.
I realise I’m going through some of the same things which others have kindly shared – eg the evening snack dragon, the energy / motivation peaks and troughs, the discoveries of what works and how to make it a WOL – and am hugely grateful for everyone who generously and helpfully shares their experience. thank you!
Day 12 – Massachusetts – CD
Checked the scales after my additional fast day yesterday – glad to see I am back to almost the weight I was last week! Seems that water is finally going away. If I eat mindfully today below my TDEE, I may even see a new low tomorrow! 😀
I still have a bit to go for my monthly goal. This month has been tough, since I’ve been sick I haven’t been moving around too much and I’ve been eating a lot simple carbs. But I am almost better and I am hoping that next week I can bring exercise back into my routine to speed things up.
@mjrbcd – I am glad your gallbladder is feeling better!
@fatfingers – congrats on meeting your goal so early!! Amazing!
@tlc2 – also congrats on already losing so much! Keep it up!
Remember, if you’re going through hell, keep going!
Day 12–Colorado, USA—NFD
Yesterday a friend asked me if I had a New Year’s resolution. Of course, I said “To lose weight.” She said that her resolution was to practice Mindfulness and be more fully present in her life. She went on to say that we all do so many things by habit, without really paying attention. Instead we should practice more awareness of each moment. And I thought, “Wait, I’m changing my New Year’s resolution to that too!”
On January 1, when I started this way of life, it made me begin a kind of mindfulness that was new to me. Instead of my usual mindless eating and drinking, I find that the practice of logging food consumed using the LoseIt app on my phone really makes me aware of what I am eating. I am definitely a “Live to eat” kind of person and I love everything about food, including cooking. So the 5:2 wol has presented me with a new challenge—to get the maximum flavor and satisfaction from food with the healthiest choices and least amount of calories. This in turn makes me savor eat bite and really enjoy the food I am eating. My goal is to have no more of the mindless nibbling, snacking and drinking that have resulted in 25 pounds over the last 10 years. Instead, I want to be aware of and really enjoy everything that I eat and drink.
I will try to move this new mindfulness into other aspects of my life. Hopefully, living less on automatic pilot will lead to fewer moments of “where did I put my keys?” and “did I close the garage door?”
I am trying to bring this mindfulness into my planking challenge. I am not a lover of exercise, but I find that being more mindful of the exercise and the changes that it is bringing to my body present a new kind of joy. Ok, maybe not joy, because I still don’t like it, but the mindfulness makes me appreciate the planking challenge as a whole—the work and the result.
@michelinme—I want to quote you—“It feels like a journey that started about weight and health is already something more.” And there is the added benefit of being part of this inspiring worldwide community!
I am seeing the rewards of this wol already—I have lost 6 pounds since January 1!!
Day 12 A grey Belfast NFD
We had our first puppy outing in the forest today. She’s only allowed a short amount of exercise at the beginning and it took forever while she sniffed and huffed and puffed. She’s very scared of new places and the car so it’ll be a tentative few weeks till we get her to build confidence.
@songbirdme – I’m volunteering for the Red Cross in community support. It works in 6 week blocks and I visit once a week. I am currently supporting an elderly couple to allow the gent to have a bit of ‘me’ time. The lady (also a retired teacher) has lost part of her sight and has mobility issues, so I initially I’m going to read to her, then we might go out if the weather improves.
@cornish-jane -I’m adding that to my challenge. Not sure though that I can do it! Don’t worry about a small gain here or there. It’s probably water retention or food in transit.
@janejust :fantastic result in 11days. Well done!
@michelinme – isn’t it funny how we put up barriers in our mind? I remember my first fast day and thinking I couldn’t do it. Well done on your inches loss. A very inspiring post.
@onahealthyhigh – when I was feeding the birds, my blackbird loved sultanas, hence a large bag in the cupboard. I caught myself dipping into the packet And devouring handfuls as a sugar substitute. Now, no sultanas in the house and no birds because pup barks at them!
@fatfingers : even half a pound a week adds up to a fantastic 26lbs a year. Well done on your achievement. Seems like you’ve got a great strategy.
@tlc2 I can hear your enthusiasm in your post. Very well done.
@ultramel : have you tried broth or Oxo cubes to stave off those hunger pangs. I find something a little salty often helps.
@mari84 – congrats on your healthy waist measurement., I think the most important measurement for health. You and I are opposites. My BMI is fine but sadly my waist is not…
@daffodil – so enjoying your travels!
A great post @JR-CO. We only get one mind and body in this life and we need to look after it. The starting point is to stop being self critical and to be kind to ourselves. I found this the hardest but now I’ve got there, I’m a different person inside. And it’s thanks to my cyber friends in this lovely community.
Congratulations to the many who have made such a great start to this year. This forum is awash with positive vibes. Keep it up one and all.
Remember: Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow” Albert Einstein
Day 12, UK, NFD
Yesterday FD went well, under 500 cal I think, and it finally shows on the scales.
I stepped on them and saw that I’m around (I don’t have digital scales, yet!) 1kg lighter 😊 . Very happy with that. And more relaxed, believing more that it will happen and that I don’t have to worry and stress about it, as its not even that hard. I better not say any more and jinx myself 😆 .
Glad to hear you(or should I say your gb) are feeling better @mjrbcd.
@debster251 your puppy seem so sweet, I can just imagine how shaky but excited it is 🐕.
@molij I took your advice and fed my started rye flour today, lets see what happens.
I’m still feeling poorly, and now coughing as well which annoys me so much, but I think just a bit better than yesterday. Totally neglected my exercises and plank challenge because I felt too weak 😓 . I’ll get back to it though, as soon as I feel stronger.
Have a great day everyone!
Day 12, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD
Hello all, reached my 145 goal weight (145.4) twelve days into the new year so I guess my holiday excess wasn’t too bad.
Now I am back in maintenance mode and will work to maintain between 143-147 given the daily fluctuations of our body.
Feels good !
Off work today, had oatmeal with raisins and flax seed (no sugar) and toast for breakfast. Will get in plenty of exercise/water/tea today and have homemade veggie pizza with caramelized red/yellow/green peppers, red onions, black olives and mushrooms – and a big ole salad for dinner.
To your health all.
