  • Day 10 – SW WA USA – NFD

Planning to make it a controlled NFD.

We are a chatty bunch. I agree with @flourbaby – Love all the posts from all around the world. Just a little behind.

    Off to school!

    Together we are stronger!

Day 10, Rocky Mountains, US, FD 800 cals

Hi to all on this wet and dark morning here in the West. We should have snow but it is raining. Will have a wet dog after our walk! πŸ˜„πŸ•β˜”πŸŒ§πŸ’§

@lindasue: great shape, indeed, if I survive the whole semester. Yesterday’s first yoga was really nothing much (for the others who are all between 18 and 22 years young) but I (could be their Grandma) had all kind of aches and pains when I came home. Oh boy! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
@califdreamer: Thank you for the welcome back! 😊😊😊
@flourbaby: yes, it is a sad state of affairs concerning the Sachertorte. Have to wait until May but I guess that is a good thing as I have to peel the Sachertorte from my body right now! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
@daffodil2010: Love your travel report! 😊😊😊

Yesterday’s FD morphed into a CD. I have trouble between 6 and 8pm. The snack dragon is really mean. I am drinking 3 l of tea every day to keep me warm. So I try to slay the snack dragon with the tea dragon. Hopefully I will achieve this today.

Have a great day everybody! 🌷⚘πŸ₯€

    Day 10, Gozo, Malta, fd

    Fasting at around 800 calories.

Strawberriesandcream here is the recipe for Hot Spiced Fruit Salad:

    3 apples, cored and chopped
    3 pears, cored and chopped
12 each ready-to- eat dried apricots and figs
    Juice of 2 large oranges
150 ml (1/4 pint) Apple juice
    A pinch of ground cinnamon
    1 star anise

The above serves six and is 185 calories per serving.

Preheat oven to 180 celcuis (160 fan oven), mark 4. Put apples and pears into a roasting tin (I used non stick) with apricots and figs, the orange juice, Apple juice, ground cinnamon and star anise. Stir, cover with foil and bake in oven for one hour. Remove the foil and bake for a further 30 minuets. Discard the star anise before serving.

    However I make this amount:

    4 apples
    4 pears
1 packet (about 18 or 19) dried figs
    24 dried apricots
430 ml orange juice from a packet
    300 ml Apple juice
Now than a pinch (I sprinkle on the dish) of cinnamon

I baked in fan oven for one hour and uncovered the dish and baked for a further 15 minuets only.

The Good housekeeping suggests also to try something different. Ready to eat prunes or 100g dried cranberries may be substituted for figs.

I didn’t try something different yet but I will try it maybe with prunes next time.

Have a great evening everyone. Onwards and downwards.

By the way strawberriesandcream serve the fruit salad hot or warmed up. I used more than a pinch of cinnamon. Sorry but I thought I typed more and it came out now. It keeps in the fridge and is delicious πŸ˜‹

Day 10 McMinnville Oregon USA – FD
I feel the need for a LFD today.

@flourbaby – You are so organized with your chopping and freezing!! After 2 days I’m not down a bit. I’m concerned that I’m actually getting more calories than I would with my normal eating.
@daffodil2010 – You must be burning lots of calories with your trekking.

I was feeling rather smug about how controlled my NFD was. Right up until just after dinner. When we ended up tucking into a tin of cookies my sister and nephew made for us for Xmas. Lovely taste. But no longer expecting tomorrow’s weigh in to be good…

    Day 10 Somerset UK

Change of plans meant that today’s planned eating day turned into a slightly over budget FD so well pleased with that and can now have a third FD on Friday as planned.
However evenings are my worst time to succumb to temptation and my head is trying to convince me that after all today was intended to be an eating day so I’m off to wallow in a nice warm bath to keep away from the kitchen.

    Day 10 – Iceland – NFD / Day 4 without 🍫

Yesterday turned into FD, third in a row so my first time of B2B2B. I agree with @miraclelou that it would be interesting to see what the more experienced fasters on this forum have to say about B2B vs. ADF.

    Stay strong fellow sugar slayers!

    Day 11/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Dry Januarians I’ve now been 10 days wine free. Really not hard at all as long as I don’t have white wine in the house. If it’s here I cannot resist or control. If it’s not I don’t miss it at all.

One of my favourite bloggers, Anne Boggle, wrote a terrific blog today to remind us not to β€œoverthink, good enough is good enough and done is better than perfect.” I’m so guilty of overthinking and researching everything, whether it’s a new food, gift or decision to be made. Overthinking steals time and spontaneity. Overthinking stops me fasting because events may prevent me eating under 500 calories. I shall remind myself that the fast is the main contributor to health and is more than good enough.

What a crazy world we live in. Pictures of iguanas falling from trees due to the cold, alligators with their noses poking through ice and sharks freezing. Here in Australia we see pictures of thousands of bats dying due to the heat.

@daffodil absolutely loving your posts. The food sounds delicious!

    Still day 10 –
@borealis I just wanted to add in Markie99. I believe I read that she was also joining this illustrious group.

    We can do this!

@borealis For me the difference between ADF and B2B is sustainability. My standard mode is Liqud ADF, which I am quite happy with. Every so often I’ll throw in a B2B to speed things along, but on the 2nd day I tend to feel deprived. So as a way of life, I couldn’t do B2B week in, week out.

Day 10. NFD but dry day.
@strawberriesandcream. You are doing so well. I think of you when I’m tempted by the big A and it helps me resist. Just been to The Donegal Irish pub in Rome to watch the football, and was told they had no beer without alcohol, but they had beer without gluten! I know they were trying to be helpful but it’s not quite the same. So, sparkling water it was.
Keen to get back to fasting but it won’t be until I get home. Just trying to mitigate things as much as I can for the next 12 days.
Think I might try a b2b for the first time when I get home. I’ll need it. H

    Day 10 – πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§- NFD

On board for FD tomorrow 😊

    Day 10 – USA – FD

FD going well so far…just realized I should have added my name to the sugar slayers…I do LCHF (low-carb, healthy fat, moderate protein) and avoid all sugars, using erithrytol, xylitol instead.

    Day 10 – Ireland – FD
Found the fast difficult today but finished up at approximately 600 calories so happy with that…
Onward and downward!I hope everyone is doing ok.

    Day 10 – UK – NFD/CD

Busy day – great yoga class this morning followed by an afternoon of volunteering then a meal out followed by a film with a group of friends.

About ready for bed, as I have an early aerobic class tomorrow morning then doing a volunteer session in a soup kitchen – I’m the team leader for my group.

Hope everyone had a great day too – stay strong and positive!

    Day 10 Sarasota, Florida FD

    Hello NI day 10 nfd
Didn’t get catching up on posts today but just checking in.
2nd fast day of the week tomorrow

    Day 10 UK accidental FD

Today was sposed to be a CD! Took my packed lunch of healthy food out to v full day of project meetings, but didn’t have time to calorie count before i rushed out this morning.

First project meetings day since end November so I spent the day juggling unexpected/urgent stuff from first email check until 9pm, squeezing in urgent short meetings and frantic emails. Mindfully ate some of my lunch alongside a colleague with his sandwich, and shared my home-made beetroot, banana and cacao cake (made with coconut flour & almond flour) and apple slices with my mentor over bi-annual review! I got home late & was just thinking about eating but thought – hang on, if I don’t eat what will be a v late supper I can claim this as a FD! And it was ridiculously easy because I was busy all day and the food was just there to be eaten on the go.

This was my first full-on work day since I started this WOL. I’m usually on the end of a computer and do most meetings by video call. I was Amazed at how much more focus I had and how much more relaxed I felt, despite the ridiculously stressful day. It feels as tho the combination of fasting, yoga & meditation is a really wonderful one for me.

I’ve been using coconut flour or almond flour (aka ground almonds) as gf substitute for two or three years now; they work well separately and together for loads of things. I’m often asked to be the inclusive cake provider for gatherings of colleagues or friends – it’s so easy to rustle up a diabetic-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free sugar-free and/or vegan cake when you have the store cupboard for it!

I’ve not followed a paleo diet but have certainly used some of the principles – low carb, higher protein, good fats, plenty of veggies. It’s really helped my cognitive dysfunction, focus and energy. The challenge of being gf, low carb & veggie has meant that I usually take my food out with me for days out. I think that adding calorie counting and fasting to the mix will be helped by what I was doing already.

Now my question is, do I make tomorrow a FD as well or switch that to a CD and finish my fasting for the week? Not sure how I’d manage with B2B, but it might be worth a try. I might see how I feel tomorrow, which is a much more physical & errands sort of day.

Really enjoyed catching up with the posts, thank you for sharing your ideas & lives πŸ™‚

    Day 10 California – Maintaining

I haven’t eaten anything today yet and it’s almost 6:30 pm. It was a busy work day and I wasn’t hungry by noon, so I thought I’d wait til tonight. Now I’m thinking that maybe I’ll do a WFD since I’ve never done one before and it would be an interesting experience. And I did a lot of snacking yesterday, so a total fast might be a good thing. I did take 9 grams of inulin in water which is about 54 calories according to the inulin label, but that’s a supplement. Let’s see if I can make it the rest of the evening.

    Day 11 – UAE – FD

Today is my usual fasting day.

    Day 11, NSW Australia, CD
    Just checking in.
Enjoy reading all your posts, thanks for sharing your experiences.
    Bye for now 😊

    Day 10 2nd post

Even though I wrote the wrong day at the top of my last post.

@Michelinme–awesome post!! I love all of your insights and really want to try one of your baking recipes.

Can’t believe we are a third of the way through the month.

Very excited to be fasting tomorrow and will be curious how it feels for my beleaguered gut. Hopefully great!! 😊😊

Looking for a long list of pocket fasters for tomorrow- day 11!!

    Day 11, Norway, CD

An ok CD yesterday. If I had thought for more than a second, yesterday could have been my third b2b FD, buuuut… don’t know what happened. But at least it ended up pretty CD. 1000-1200kcal in total.
I feel the weight loss have been slow now, especially compared to my flying start. Going for another CD today. Going to my mom’s house for cod-dinner today.

    Have a good one everybody.

    Day 11, UK, FD
80.3kg. Following the cookies after dinner, I kep making bad choices last night, including chocolate and nuts. I don’t so much need to press the restart button as reboot the whole thing. Severely peeved with myself!

    Day 10 North Wales NFD
    Day 11 FD

Try not to be too hard on yourself @bigviking we all have our blips, it’s what we do after one that matters. Might have a blip of my own today. I have been making my first sourdough bread. After 2 days of TLC it is ready to bake. What a stupid day to bake it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. If I can resist a slice when it comes out of the oven it will be a miracle.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Norway, Day 11, FD

Oh, today will be a hard day. I can feel it. I am so stressed at work, and I am getting sick (AGAIN!!), it feels like my lungs are burning. And I am quite sleep deprived (kids!). I feel less strong to stand up agains temptations when I am tired.
But, I will do the FD anyway, as I feel OK in my body, it is just my lungs that hurt. Very odd.

Yestersday morning I was very pleased with the number on the scale, so I hope tomorrows number will be even better! That is my motivation for today.

I am looking forward to Friday and Weekend tomorrow, just two days work left. And a lot of work to do, so I hope they will be fast.

    Have a great day!

    Day 11 FD

Good day under 500 calories. Have kept really busy the last few hours photographing my dresses for the app Stylebook. It is such a good app. A good way to sort out your wardrobe. I have more than 100 dresses of which more than 30 don’t fit me!!
    Official weigh in day tomorrow.

    Day10. UK FD

Yesterday was almost a FD , I’m feeling poorly with this cold so all I wanted yesterday was water, tea and later I had a tin of chicken soup with bread. It was the bread that took me over 800 cals, otherwise it would have been an accidental b2b! So FD today, apple at lunch and pork steak with salad for tea.

I’ve been doing planks twice a day, aiming for an extra 5 seconds each time and I can feel it in the stomach and core.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

Day 11, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

Although yesterdays’ FD was a little (?) over…………… I’m still counting it as a win!!! Feeling lighter and the scales concur, so yeah me!!!

I really need to focus on the weekends as I can’t rely on being at work to control me all of the time, so that’s the plan for this weekend………………… Donate all of the leftover bad-goodies in the house, plan my week, eat mindfully and with control & generally clean up my act!!! And if all else fails ……………..GO TO BED!!!!

@awilson, I was concerned about the calories too, which is why I worked it out over the entire week so I’ll still have my normal 3500cal deficit, but the website says each smoothie is 350cals if made to the recipe, although this isn’t that exact β€˜cause my banana might be much bigger than yours!!!!! LOL

@bigviking, I’m in the same boat …………………… those bad-goodies have got to go!!!!! And I don’t mean by stuffing them into your face!!!!

Lots of us are struggling with the evening snack dragon ……………….”I’ve finished my meal, I’m satisfied, I’m satiated………………….but I think a couple of handfuls of cashews is a grand idea …………………Doh!!!!!!”
Maybe we need a β€˜THE KITCHEN IS NOW CLOSED’ pocket group!!!!! I’m actually going to print a skull & crossbones β€œKITCHEN CLOSED” sign and stick it on the door tonight, I’ll take all the help I can get to lose these Xmas habits!!!

@borealis & @miraclelou, I really stick to B2B2Bs because I work part-time 3 days/week (don’t hate me!!) and find fasting at work the easiest. I’ve done ADF and found the NFDs easier than when B2B2B-ing because the day after a FD you only THINK you could eat a cow, but in reality you’re quite mindful and before you know it you’re back on a FD, with B2B2Bs you get 4 NFDs in a row, by the 3rd one I can feel the bad habits/cravings creeping back in, so it may be a little harder to remain controlled.

@onahealthyhigh, I too am an expert over-thinker, although everyone else says I’m a ditherer (rude!!!) but I just call myself β€˜Queen Procrastinator’. I AM aware that it shouldn’t take 6 months to buy new curtains!!! …………. BUT they look great!!!

@metatauta, have you tried Truvia? It’s the brand of stevia I find tastes JUST like sugar and for 0 cals and no effect on insulin levels, it’s my winner. I like Xylitol too, but I’ve swapped it to Truvia because every calorie counts!!!!

@molij, Step away from the sourdough!! LOL!!! …………………. I’m laughing with you, not at you…………………………. Honestly!!!!!

I forgot my planks yesterday, so a double dose tonight, but I did a strenuous boxercise-esque class last night, slept like a baby too. Yoga tonight then pilates on Friday morning ………… I know you can’t see me, but ……………… I’m actually polishing my halo right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My key piece (2 pieces) of advice for this WOL …………………ON FDs – STAY SUPER-SUPER BUSY & DRINK SO MUCH WATER, THAT YOU SLOSH AS YOU WALK!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else have any advice they find invaluable to this WOL??

Keep the faith everyone, Onward & downward!!!!

    DAY 10 – Cardiff UK – FD
    DAY 11 – Cardiff UK – NFD

    January Starting weight : 152.9lbs
    January Goal Weight : 148.0lbs
    Todays Weight : 146.9lbs

Really pleased that I have already met my January goal. Admittedly it wasn’t a stretch target, but pleased all the same. Thinking of revising my goal to 145lbs which is a shade lower than my lowest weight in the last 20+ years.

I’d had some dodgy blood results, but after vising the GP yesterday the only thing to retest is my liver. GP happy that although my cholesterol is high at 6.6, when she calculates my risk of vascular disease in the next 10 years it comes out at 1.27% and medication is only begun at 10%. Really happy with that as I had anticipated having a fight about statins.

Hopefully when liver is retested in 2 weeks the results will be normal as, like everyone else, I’ve had the lurgy and GP thinks this may have affected the results. Going to be extra careful with food, water and exercise though so I know the results aren’t being affected by a short term blip.

Still sugar free and not having any cravings, just sometime think about having something, then remind myself I’m off sugar. Can’t totally remove sugar from the house as still have my 16 year old daughter at home and she would not be amused.

Keeping busy at the moment decorating one of the bedrooms, so today is filling and some sanding, but most of the sanding will probably be tomorrow so I don’t annoy the neighbours. Then up and down the ladder with a roller in hand, so at least I should get a good bit of exercise in.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Day 11 – Peru πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ – NFD

It’s early in the morning in the town of Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world. Soon we will be collected from our hotel and off on a speed boat to visit the islands on the lake. Can’t wait! Lake Titicaca to me has such a storybook, wistful, legendary name….like Timbuktu or Arabia 😊

Yesterday was spent touring the Colca Canyon. Unfortunately there was a lot of cloud which made for spectacular photos but we did not really see the Canyon in total. We did see lots of condors which was exciting.

We are at altitude between 3500 and 4600 metres all the time now. Once you feel a headache you know it’s the altitude so time to take action and chew the coca leaves. Somebody asked was there a buzz from the coca tea? Not for me, it tastes like green tea, so relatively pleasant. But coca leaves chewed and then coca or inka tea to drink does give a slight stimulus. On Tuesday I felt like I had had an alcoholic drink for a bit.

I don’t like chewing the leaves though. It’s messy and I feel like I am sitting on the porch in a rocking chair chewing tobacco πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Yesterday afternoon we left Colca for a long bus journey to Puno on the lake. I will be honest, we are now traveling through the real native Peru and the poverty is striking. We haven’t a clue about this type of life back home, it’s a tough life for most of these people, yet they are happy and smiling all the time.

It’s summertime but very cold in the evening by lake Titicaca. Had to wear a woolly hat to go to dinner 😁. We were so tired that we just had a light snack then bed. No wild holiday shenanigans for us πŸ˜€

I have a headache now so better take some coca tea.

Have a great day all. Can’t really catch up on posts yet as hardly any time so apologies if you asked a question and I have not got back to you.

    Day 11 sunny Belfast FD
Oh my goodness, how many more disasters can strike California? Hoping that everyone here is safe and that the situation can be rectified with the minimal loss of life.

@bert your honesty is amazing. I’m sure that in no time, she’ll adopt and mirror your high standards.
@anna 6 thank you for that lovely recipe
@onahealthyhigh – good enough is good enough and done is better than perfect.” So true
@molij – I’m interested in how your sourdough goes. Keep us posted. That’s on my list to experiment with.
    @flourbaby I’m working on sloshing!

Today is my first foray into the world of volunteering. Looking forward to it.
Remember @onahealthyhigh’s reminder. This is a way of life not a diet.

Good enough is good enough and done is better than perfect.”

    Day 11 Wales FD

Our home broadband connection has gone down and supplier (BT) needs to send an engineer so no idea how long we will be without wifi so not able to read posts but will still be part of the challenge and thinking of all of you. Be back as soon as we’re fixed.

    Day 11…..Florida….FD

A so so FD yesterday, did pretty well until I finished a few of my chores, then I found a box of truffles from Christmas that I had hidden. Pretty good hiding place until I found them….. @bigviking……. I had one of those smug moments then karma bit me in the arse….

Today will be another FD, because lunch will be non existent as I run errands on my lunch hour. I would really love to hit my goal, so, I could start an official maintenance phase instead of just playing around.

@debster……..I learned a very long time ago, the most important person to be honest to is yourself. That honesty, helps you become a better person. Plus, I have a goal for myself, is when I arrive at the pearly gates I say I tried my best and I tried not to let life beat me into something I would not be proud of.

Today, is short and sweet, as I had a lot of post to read through

I’m going outside to stand, so if anyone ask just tell them I’m OUTSTANDING!

    Day 11 USA WI FD

Hello, very far behind in reading posts. Last couple of days have gone fairly well, although my NFDs could use some improvement.

Will be happy to complete a successful FD today. Activities are the bike (7 miles, rolling hills) and teaching one Silver Sneaker Classic class at the. Y (uses movement, weights and resistance bands).

Hope to be able to read more posts soon. Have been busy subbing for other instructors this week and getting ready for our trip to Costa Rica next week. I wish everyone the best. Keep reading and posting and gaining motivation from this group. Good luck to everyone.

    Take care, Markie

    Day 11, US, NFD

Really enjoying your Peru posts, Daffodil2010.

    Day 11, Surrey (UK), FD

All going well so far. Drinking plenty of water + tea. Not felt hungry at all, so saving my 500 calories for supper tonight – ratatouille + steamed veg. Have had to step away from the kitchen though, whilst hubby has his tempting-looking lunch of toast, goat’s cheese and salad!

Weight loss is slow – just 1lb in the past week. Have to keep reminding myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep going, everyone!

    Day 9, NFD
    Day 10 NFD
    Day 11, Finland FD

This is my first post since I joined on the 8th. I didn’t really tell anything about myself so though I might now! I am an Australian expat, living in Finland for nearly 14 years. I am 44, turning 45 in one month, and can sort of feel a crisis coming on. I have been freaking out a bit about health issues, and the fact that none of my grandparents and father died before the age of 70. I feel like I mightn’t have much time left if I don’t change habits I should have changed before. I am overweight, that baby weight just never shifted! While I have always been chunky, I am now officially obese, BMI over 30. I have high cholesterol, which my doctor says won’t be lowered by diet alone so need meds.

I have tried fasting before, and did it for about 6 months. Didn’t lose much weight, but I wasn’t strict on NFD’s, but I definitely felt better. Can’t remember why I stopped. I cannot remember a time in my life when I haven’t been dieting, so it is time to stop, and make a permanent change to my lifestyle.

So my goals are mainly to reduce risk factors to disease so I can see 71. Side goals are to get within a healthy BMI range, and to go from a size 48 EUR to a comfortable 44, or fit comfortably into my size 16AUS jeans I still have in my cupboard.

I am planning on fasting Mondays and Thursdays, and at this stage I am not strictly calorie counting on NFD. Maybe that will change later when I get into the swing of fasting again. I am also trying to increase my exercise as I have literally sat on the sofa for the second half of 2016….am slightly addicted to Forge of Empires game on my phone! Planning on weighing on Monday mornings.

I have been overwhelmed by the amount of posts coming in! I haven’t managed to read them all, but the ones I have I have enjoyed. Some of the inspirational words are very helpful. My first FD went well, and today is also going fine, although it is certainly easier to fast on a work day and when don’t have to prepare food for the family. I joined a pilates class once a week, and have been walking while the kids do their hobbies.Yesterday I had an horrendous day at work, and was thanking the stars I wasn’t doing a dry January (tippaton Tammikuuu in Finnish!) because it was a definite Baileys day! Despite the alcohol, I limited myself to a Subway biscuit as comfort food instead of the chocolate block I would have eaten earlier,,,,and it was reading everyone’s posts which made that easier. So a big THANK YOU to this forums members already! I also decided to apply for a new job, which has helped my stress today.

Look forward to reading more interesting posts from all over the world, and leading a healthier life. No funny words of wisdom yet from me….but I will join @bert1802 outside to be OUTSTANDING!

    Day 11 – USA – NFD

Good FD yesterday, 511 cals. Almost caved into pizza that OH made; the smell was fantastic, but I was sloshing (a la Flourbaby) so just kept chugging the ACV/water. @flourbaby, I’ve tried them all and settled for Sweetleaf Stevia, and thanks for the suggestion! OH is now using 3 Truvia in 1 cup of tea, but overall better than the many teaspoons of real sugar he was used to! We’re now buying the Truvia in the 1000 packet box, lol!

    Day 11, Perth NFD

I have been offline for a few days, including 2 FD’s first time at work on a FD and it was a huge success – except for coming home – sugar cravings and head aches because I neglected my water bottle, it was really hard to make it through the sugar cravings, I had a few cals spare so I had some berries with a tiny sprinkle of chocolate to quell the pains.

Apart from them I have been gorging a little bit on NFD’s because I feel so restricted on FD’s. I think I need to find better (more tasty) low cal lunch options that leave room for a filling dinner that doesn’t leave me craving a nighttime morsel before bed.

I have been considering quitting/reducing sugar as a month long challenge, but as I am also off Alcohol this month I might save that ginormous hurdle for February. πŸ˜‹ a few hurdles but I am down 3.6KG’s since Day 1 🌻

    Day 11 USA (Illinois) NFD

My DAFD (Day After Fast Day) yesterday wasn’t too bad. Indulged on some popcorn treats, but could have been much worse.

@anna6 – your fruit compote sounds delish. I often will ‘stew’ up an apple, sliced into a dish with raisins (or prunes, dates, even nuts) in a microwave dish with some cinnamon for a quick, warm apple treat.

@pashaw -congratulations on making your goal!

@daffodil2010 – your Peruvian trip is ever so fun to read about. We are living vicariously with your travels! Thank you for posting!

@debster251 – my life after teaching has been all about volunteering. I hope you find it satisfying and fulfilling. What are your tasks?

@missybear -connectivity issues are just a royal pain. HOpefully yours get fixed soon.

@markie99 – I would love to take YOUR SilverSneakers class! Every teacher is just a bit different with the same equipment. I enjoy them all.

@kerryn73 – welcome to our little blogosphere. Health concerns are often so troubling, and I hope you find good results from our WOL while you’re still young!

    Onward and downward.

    Day 11 – Iceland – NFD

@onahealthyhigh – It is the same with chocolate for me, if it’s in the house I find myself constantly thinking about when and whether I should eat it… mostly I cannot resist so it has to be out. Thank you for the reminder, β€œdone is better than perfect” – exactly what I needed to hear!
@annemarilyn thank you! And great to have you with us against the sugar dragon @markie99 !
@bigviking @flourbaby – thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences! I think I will try to keep enjoying the flexibility of this WOL to the fullest and do both ADF and B2B once in a while to speed things up as you say πŸ™‚

    Have a wonderful day all!

    Day 11, Cornwall UK, FD

This Fast Day is going well (so far!). We have brilliant sunshine today and I took the dog and my OH down to St Mawes for a black coffee and a walk along the coast road. Amazingly warm and beautiful.

Plank Challenge – I have finally started doing my planks yesterday and today. One elbow plank, one arm plank. And I added a Boat Pose (also very good for strengthening your core, I am told) – mainly because I am so useless at it in my yoga class that I feel it needs improving at home! https://youtu.be/BiVJsjPCQeQ. I am only managing 30 seconds of each but that is a massive improvement on six months ago.

    Day 11, UK, FD

I’m still feeling poorly, but decided I should still have a FD, so far so good. But due to my feeling very poorly I might not succeed today. If my body tells me I need more food I will have more food. Lets see.

@saffy420 hope you feel better soon, we are in the same boat, as well as few others. Hopefully not for too long. Its not fun having cold 😷

@bigviking don’t beat yourself up over your blip, thats the worst thing you can do, just put it in the past and continue where you left off. It will be fine πŸ™‚

@molij I’m just in the process of developing my sourdough starter, second attempt. I think its going better this time, I saw few bubbles in it which is a good sign. Its so funny how few bubbles can make you happy πŸ˜„ . Let us know hoe it came out please.

@daffodil2010 you make me wanna jump on the plane and go to Peru πŸ˜† , love your holiday posts, coca leaves chewing descriptions are specially amusing πŸ˜†

Have a good day everyone πŸ€—

Day 11, Rocky Mountains, US, FD 800 cals

    Hi all,
Yesterday 800 cal FD went quite well. It came to a bit above 800 cals but I did not have my nightly popcorn🍿. I must wean myself off this habit. Still struggling in the evenings. Had a few nutsπŸ₯œand lots of tea. No sugar or alcohol.
@flourbaby: I think you are unto something. I like the idea of a “The kitchen is now closed” pocket group. I need something like this! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

    Have a great day everyone!🌺🌻🌼

    Day 11 FD😊😊 Oregon USA

@pashaw–congrats on hitting January goal already!! You are doing great and it is showing in your lab results!

@bigviking and @flourbaby I am all for a pocket group of “the kitchen is closed” for us night time snackers. It is exactly my downfall and worse it is never anything remotely healthy for me. I envision @fatrabbit would maybe grab a piece of fruit and I head straight for chips, cookies or worse. And yes physically removing myself upstairs to bed is too often the only answer. πŸ™

@kerryn73 thanks for sharing your struggles with us. As many long-term WOL’ers will attest starting slow with just the basic 5:2 lifestyle is a great first step. Let that be your goal and even if you only lose a half pound a week in a year that is 26!

Being “late” to post on the daily I didn’t see a list of pocket faster for today to add to. Maybe because we have all the sub-pockets this month?
Well it’s late for most of you so I will just “keep my own little list” in my head and will try to be proactive for Monday’s fast with a list. 😊

With 2/3 of the month to go I am hoping that I can get back on track and hit my January number which have been reasonable. This whole gallbladder business has reminded me to appreciate my healthy days and I know others here have dealt with more than just my little bout.

Last thought @daffodil2010–thank you so much for sharing everything about Peru. Including the poverty. I understand completely as many times in Mexico, the Caribbean Islands and Yucatan peninsula I have felt the same. It makes one think…. A LOT…about what really matters in happiness.

“Figure out what is good for you and then create a liking for it. You have to work at living!”

    Day 11FD Preston Uk
    Good afternoon 🌈🌎

2nd FD of the week for me and I’ve had a couple of very controlled days in between. I’m on a nice egg salad for tea which will precede a 7k run. Hubby has joined me once again, which makes it a lot easier with regards to food choices. Still feeling totally positive about this WOL and long may it continue.
Stay safe, stay warm and stay motivated! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻🍏πŸ₯€πŸ₯—

Day 11 McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
Had an okay FD yesterday. Today it will be back to the blender challenge.

@daffodil2010 – I had to google Lake Titicaca so I could get a visual on where you are. Looks very exotic.
@pashaw – Your January weight loss is amazing, I wish I could say the same for myself.

    Day 11 – Massachusetts – FD

Checked the scales today for my weekly weigh in and I am up 2 pounds from last week despite fitting in my fast days. Suspect it is from water because I had an IBS attack this weekend and I always retain water after that. Will just keep chugging along, and hopefully slipping in this extra fast day this week will help. And I still feel great for having fasted this week, so still victories all around. My sugar cravings have definitely gotten better, and I feel more in control than last week even! They are not completely gone… and yesterday I did have one square of chocolate… but it did not set me on a binge, which is a great improvement. I attribute it to the pocket list, I feel like I would have failed you if I had any more than that one square!

I really enjoyed reading all your posts today! So many successes. Go us!
