  • Day 8, US, FD

I got on the scales yesterday. Crueller indeed! Made me feel down, and then angry at myself that I had let myself slip so badly, and slide backwards, at the end of last year. I had fallen into the trap of thinking 5:2 is easy in that you can hit the reset button. Well that only works if I hit the reset button immediately – not 8 weeks later!

So thanks for the inspirational posts today to help me refocus. This resonated with me Coda – If I want change – I need to change – no more pussyfooting about.

And BasyJames – I so look forward to feeling the same way the same time next year!

And I will join the plank challenge At!

    Day 8, Gozo, Malta, fd

I weighted at 67.3 this morning. Today is a fast day and I’ll fast at around 800 calories.

I mean to do a B2B2B starting today.

I haven’t had time to read the posts of today.

Onwards and downwards have a great evening everyone.

    Day 8 Preston Uk FD
    Good evening world 🌈🌎
Late posting today because I was in a rush this morning. FD today to start the week with a bang but it’s a FD with a difference, hubby is joining me for the first day today. 🙂 He read the FD book and has decided to give it a go for the health benefits, likes his food does my hubby so it’ll be interesting to see how he goes but so far so good. Plenty of black coffee being drunk by him though and we’ll see how he copes with just fresh salmon and veg for his only meal. 😬 Love reading all the posts and it totally amazes me as to how spread globally we are, yet at the same time it feels as if maybe we all attend the same school or something. It feels kinda weird (nice weird) 😀 and I’m sure with time it’ll seem part of an everyday routine.
Hope you’ve all had or are about to have a good day ( wherever you are) 😂😂

    Day 8 – Massachusetts – FD

Some reorganizing of my current week, as I had a lot of indulgences over the weekend, so I plan to make today a FD. Feels so good to fast!

I agree with everyone here – even a little bit of sugar or simple carbs totally sets me off (especially bread). @fatfingers, it seems to happen to many of us. If I eat complex carbs, I don’t have as much of a problem. I will see how this week goes, but having my sugary treats on the weekends makes it difficult for me to avoid them during the week because the cravings!

@fatrabbit – Amazing that you stayed under your TDEE even with all your indulgences! I feel like when I let myself go crazy, I go right to the chocolate/cookies/crackers, and then eat a whole box, which alone is probably more than my TDEE. You have truly changed your habits, way to go!

@borealis – I agree completely! Often after a binge I feel like it was not worth it and I feel disappointed with myself. I was doing okay previously, but the holidays have really messed me up and my cravings are out of control. 🙁 But I am not giving up! @sugar-pocket-list, I am hanging in there and starting a new week, so a new chance to get it right! Glad to see we are growing. 🙂

@at – I haven’t made homemade yogurt, the active cultures would probably be fabulous, but dairy upsets my IBS so I don’t eat a lot of it, which I personally find very sad as I used to love greek yogurt.

Joining the FD pocket list! Good luck fellow fasters!

    Day 8 California FD

Another dreary, rainy Monday. Another FD. Had a wonderful sushi meal at a favorite Japanese restaurant last night and now have no wiggle room left at my goal weight. So time to pay more attention to NFDs this week. Need to have that wiggle room back!

Joining the FD pocket list! Good luck fellow fasters!

I would like to join challenge this month. Is i too late? I managed to get into spreadsheet but cant add to it? Thanks.

Penz, don’t feel down. Don’t worry about the holiday weight, just get back on track with the New Year.

Saw this elsewhere and it is SO true –

“It’s not what you eat between Christmas and New Years that matters, it’s what you eat between New Years and Christmas that counts. ”

    Day 7 Sarasota, Florida CD
Day 8 Sarasota, Florida CD I’m not back to exercise yet between my bout with bronchitis and the unseasonably cold weather here. I have done mostly CD’s in the last week. Plan to go to Pilates Wednesday am!

@janejust Welcome! Never too late to join.

Just add a post to the thread to let us know status (day of the month, where you are, fd or nfd) and anything else you feel like adding. I find that checking in on a daily basis helps to keep me on the straight and narrow.

    Day 8 CD/NFD Oregon USA

Hello to the newbies just joining! I think I have successfully added everyone who needed to be added including: @janejust, @kerryn73, @mb23. Welcome!

Also added @redrocksgirl–didn’t know if you wanted it or not, but welcome back!!

And welcome to @bx1K, and @fatfingers who added themselves. 👍🏻

We are now up to 106 international January challengers! 🏆🏆🏆

So wish I could be on the pocket fast list today….😞 And man, no wonder I stay away from apple juice usually. This cleanse has me drinking 480 calories of the stuff alone!! Yikes. And supposed to be “eating normally” too.

@joblott44–when I started I used to feel like I was reading a really interesting novel especially with people sharing the geography from around the world. I get such wonderful images of people out walking the British countryside, or the (usually) sunny streets of Florida. From Norway, to Iceland, Australia and out here in Oregon it’s such fun isn’t it? 😊 And now @daffodil2010 is taking us to the Andes!

I love all the pockets this month and wish all the no-sugars, no-alcohol and planksters great strength! Together we are always stronger. 💪🏼

I thought I would mention something again on “weighing”. There is no one-size-fits all answer there. Some people find the best success with weighing every day, others, like me tend to feel both false “elation” and “remorse” when the scale moves in either direction. I have changed to weighing myself twice a week (after FD’s of course) and am going to take my measurements today so I can focus on successes there too. If you are in this for the long run (as you will read from others) there are bouncey scales, whooshes, water retention and more that affect that “number”.

Fingers crossed for the successful end to this cleanse tonight….my pain is better in the gb, so I am hopeful that I can be “back to normal” soon. 🌞

So true, @lindasue, so true. Thanks!

    Day 8. UK FD 74.5 kg. 1.5kg loss 👍
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven’t logged in for a few days, so I’ve got lots of catching up to do.
FD went well today – I think I’m getting into the swing of things. Unfortunately dry January isn’t going as well. Blew it over the weekend, but I’m back on the wagon now. I’ve decided to just be good during the week 😉. Well it’s a start… 😀

Please count me in. New to this diet and forum. In Australia.

    Day 9 NZ NFD

Thanks for adding me. @pamie – Me Day 9 NZ NFD too.

    Day 7 : Cheshire, UK : NFD
    Day 8 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

It’s been a busy Sunday and Monday so not had chance to catch up on all posts. It didn’t help that a couple of times unknowingly I’ve unsubscribed from emails which meant I couldn’t catch up when I had a spare 10 mins or so.

Tomorrow is my weigh day and a fast day….keeping my fingers crossed. 🙂

    Have a good week everyone!

    Day 8; Wales, UK, FD

FD done and dusted. My only issue was that my stomach was so loud I got embarrassed and left my office to work elsewhere where it could rumble in peace.

It was such a beautiful sun-shiny day that I found a sunny spot and made the best of it.

Can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow 😉

Hope everyone has a good week!

    Day 8 – UK – NFD/CD

Another beautiful sunny day but with a very chilly breeze – Cumbria is beautiful at this time of the year with plenty of snow on the high fells at 3000feet

Being alcohol free seems to have put me in controlled NFDs – weight is still dropping at 52.8kg this morning despite no FD since Saturday……..those wasted calories in alcohol and I also know that it does stimulate a grazing habit in me……@strawberriesandcream it seems I have you to thank for ensuring I have a fair bit of wriggle room for my Australia visit 😊

Happy to report that my classes have restarted this week, so an hour of Pilates this afternoon and a 90 minute Yoga class this evening – lots of strong moves and holding of positions as well as some detoxing moves and a beautiful Savasana at the end to align our bodies and help us deeply relax 🧘‍♀️

@healthytoo – your post is not weird and would have resonated with a lot of us – definitely all things I learnt early in my journey with this WOL
    @maayyaa and @flourbaby @penz – welcome to the daily Plankers 😉
@kerryn73 @bxlk @mb23 @janejust @maxwellsmart – never too late to join the party WELCOME lots of friendly folks on this forum – try to read our host’s first post on page 1 with lots of useful information
@belfastsink and @redrockgirl302 – lovely to have you both back with us and @redrockgirl302 – your extended holiday sounded so fabulous – lucky you
@onahealthyhigh – not sure how I missed your post yesterday – just realised you had a special day yesterday!
@fatfingers – if those nuts were salted = water retention would account for the weight increase!
@pashaw – you should be so proud of that 4st weight loss – I’m sure your GP will be impressed – As you hate the idea of the gym atm have you thought of trying yoga or pilates – a much more gently form of exercise both with proven health benefits….
@daffodil2010 – thank you for sharing your Peruvian culinary delights – the Ceviche sounds right up my street as does the Aji de Gallina 😋
@slogan15 – Ouch 🤕 hope you feel better soon
@basyjames – loved your post, your happiness shone through and I totally agree with you – sounds like you had a fab birthday x

Yay a successful fast day today, happy bunny 🐰

    2nd post
Welcome back @belfastsink and @redrockgirl302. Hello to our newly joined members and our latest member @maxwellsmart

I so agree @mjrbcd44 about the visualising when people post – from dipping into pools to cool off to being cold in Florida (?) travelling in Peru with foods i have never heard of, to hiking in Cumbrian hills with a nice cup of tea to warm up. Sometimes if I read other threads I am wishing they had said where they were from at the beginning of their post.

    Nite nite from me x

    Day 8, UK, FD

This was a successful FD, very busy though. Didn’t have time for exercising or anything really, hardly managed to visit here and skim through posts.

    @slogan15 hope you feel better.
    @onahealthyhigh–happy birthday 💐
    Welcome all new members 🙋

Hopefully will have more time tomorrow.

Have a good week everyone 🤗

    Day 8/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Thank you for all the birthday messages, I feel very blessed. Yesterday I reached my official retirement age. Due to changes to the retirement age in Australia I had to wait till I reached 65 1/2 years. The retirement age is gradually being increased to 67. So it wasn’t my actual birthday. Apologies if my post caused confusion but many, many thanks for the good wishes 🌹

    Hi everyone
    Day 9, NSW Australia, NFD
Happy reading all your interesting posts.
Decided to weigh weekly now – weighed daily in first week to get an idea of what happens from day to day. Still doing my food diary – keeps me more accountable. Have had a few sweet items today – now to put that aside & get back on track!
Congrats to all the downward weighers, maintainers & also those that are really trying. We are all in this together.
Enjoy whatever you are doing & bye for now!

    Day 9, Norway, CD

Successfull FD yesterday, finally. Almost back to my all time low, only a few hundred grams away now. Hopefully my second FD this week will do the trick, i need to see some new numbers now 🙂

I totally forgot to do the plank yesterday. When night time comes i tell my self i will do them in the morning, and the morning comes and i forget. Just got to the office and realized this, and finding myself telling me that i will do them “when i get home”/”tonight”. I think i better put an alarm on for this 🙂 New routines, hard to remember.

    Day 9, UK, FD
79.9 kg. I didn’t think my NFD was particularly wild, so a bit miffed my weight is as high as it is. Most likely water retention and food in transit. In other news, I’ve discovered how unfit I am. These new excercises are playing havoc with my poor muscles. Stiff and sore covers it very nicely!

    Day 9 Belfast NFD

OH NOoooo! My scales are broken!!! As a daily weigher, I feel bereft😩. Maybe it will make me more focused!

@daffodil2010 – what an amazing description. We could start a travel blog. You have whetted my appetite!
How lovely to see all those returners to this forum! Welcome back.
Thank you @ BasyJames for a very motivating post.
    @slogan15 wishing you speedy healing
    Welcome MB23 and @janejust
@missybear – I have a box of Belgian biscuits in my cupboard shouting, ‘Eat me!’
@leggit – have you tried water kefir? Great for gut health and very easy to make. I take it every day because I don’t like the milk version.
@healthytoo – FDs are a great leveller as to the calorific and nutritional value of food. I really enjoy a good fast and the lovely empty feeling in the morning afterwards.
@onahealthyhigh – getting your pension is something to celebrate. When I get mine I will be 66 and I will shout it from the rafters. Only 3 years to go!

Great FD yesterday, I had my first swim of the year, and I’m feeling good and motivated. So many have said here that they’re pleased to be back on track. When my kids were little, I was always secretly pleased when the school holidays were over and we got back to a proper routine. I feel that now. Somehow for me successful fasting and exercise go hand in hand. today, the first Pilates of the year. Bring it on!

Just saw snow in the Sahara. What is this world coming to?

Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude – the anticipation is often much more delightful than the real thing. Thank you @borealis. I love that. It is so true.

    Day 9 UK NFD

Didn’t end up dojng a full fast yesterday as I had made myself so ill with an acute sugar hangover from overconsumption of dried chocolate covered golden berries that I wasn’t able to go to my language class. I didn’t eat anything until late though and it was only 1200 calories in the end and I am at yet another new low anyway. (My tdee is 2000 for real these days so still a significant deficit, previously when I was fat it was higher on paper but lower in reality, if I ate more than about 1800 then I would gain, now 2000 is neutral as it should be).

Day 9 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧
This mornings post hasn’t registered somehow, don’t think I’m the first one to experience this.
Good fast day yesterday although I’ve ended up with a headache this morning maybe it’s because I’ve switched from coffee to black tea while fasting.
    Keep at it everyone

    Norway, Day 9, NFD

Had a very good FD yesterday! And today I overslept, so I didn’t get the time to eat breakfast, so when I break my fast for lunch in 20 minutes, the fast will have lasted for 40 hours! =D

I feel slimmer already, I love how this fasting makes me feel. My belly is less bloated, and I FEEL smaller, even though I haven’t lost too much (yet). Anyway, hoping to see the number 84 this month, because that means I will be closer to 80 than 90! AND it means 10 kg down, which means I get to treat myself with some spa, either a massage or facial <3

    Have a good Tuesday =D

Day 9, London, UK, FD (1st of B2B2B)

Feeling soooo relieved to be back at work and therefore back on track with FDs. I really can’t fast at home unless the freezer, fridge & cupboards have been emptied of anything except for my FD foods!! The brain re-training continues!!!

Strangely enough, I’m with you @at as I’m dropping weight despite no FDs recently, it must be my body eradicating empty alcohol calories accumulated over Xmas!!!

@redrockgirl302, welcome back!! How was Austria? Of course, by that I mean how was the sachertorte?????

Enjoy the day everyone, Onward & Downwards!!!

    Day 9, Newcastle UK, FD

    Welcome back @belfastsink & @redrockgirl302 – you’ve been missed.
You’re welcome @at – and we both have @emma Taylor to thank for starting the AF revolution.
@metatauta & @annemarilyn – I bought a 200g bag of frozen summer berries along with the coconut flour. On googling ‘how do I make crumble mix with coconut flour’ the first recipe to come up was for a summer berry crumble. I used Truvia for sweetening both the fruit and crumble. https://elsbro.com/blog/2016/07/04/coconut-flour-summer-fruit-crumble/ Beware – coconut flour is very high fibre……..
    Fantastic result @pashaw – congratulations!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery @fatrabbit.

Yesterday’s FD turned into a CD just above BMR because I decided to have tonight’s meal last night and vice versa for practical reasons. Hence today is now an FD. I bought a huge 5.7L slow cooker the other day so that I could make individual low carb desserts in ramekins. I have Carrot and Coriander soup being prepared in my smaller cooker. Really loving my new found energy and motivation this year.

“One of the best things in life is realising that you’re perfectly happy without the things that you thought you needed most.”

    Day 9 – Peru 🇵🇪 – NFD

We have a very early start this morning as we are being collected to travel up to the Colca Canyon at 4800 metres 😁. Deeper than the Grand Canyon they say. Looking forward to it.

We spent yesterday acclimatising- very light meals, a beer or two only, and lots of coca tea. We have been advised to drink lots of it as it helps digestion (which is sluggish in the altitude 😧) and helps combat altitude sickness. But it’s Coca tea made from Coca leaves .illegal in most places except South America??? It’s freeky available here, our hotel provides free cups at reception, you can buy it at the tea aisle in the shop 😬😬

We are taking it as we have suffered a little breathlessness here, and as we travel much higher from today, if it helps (and it’s legal), we will take it.

Got to plank now. It’s 530am and traffic already nuts outside. See y’all at 4800 metres

    Day8 Cheshire UK FD

Yesterday I started with another cold, the third one since the beginning of December, however I’m determined I’m not going to sit around drinking tea and eating biscuits this time, I’m sticking to the routine. So it’ll be an apple for lunch and omelette for tea.

Yesterday I made a one layer lasagne, a Tom Kerridge recipe. For those outside the uk he’s a Michelin starred chef and he used to be huge. He’s lost about 12 stones (168lbs). It was a bit of a faff to make – his version served 9 so I had to mess about with calculating ingredients for 2 and it takes ages to cook from scratch. I even bought a dish to make it in. Anyway for about 400 cals it was delicious and the portion was huge. I left enough for hubby’s lunch today. I think it might be one I make and then freeze portions.
I started the plank challenge yesterday, god I am so unfit. Only one way to go-upwards
@daffodil2010, so jealous of your trip. It sounds idyllic. Is is an organised one with a guide or have you arranged it yourself? Please keep the updates coming.
@strawberriesandcream, I love my slow cooker. My Mil gave me hers when we first got married, it’s almost 40 years old and has a very 70s look about it. But it’s used loads for all kinds of things.

    Happy Tuesday everyone.

    Day 9……Florida…..FD

Sorry, I had a day yesterday….I didn’t sleep well the night before which sent my morning into a tail spin, then I spent majority of the day fixing the mistakes the new girl made all the while it seemed as if she was making issues worse. I know that’s not true, she was just trying to help, but it just made things crazier.
By the time, I made it home I was done…… stick a fork in me done.

    Hopefully, Today will be better.

I slept well last night and I’m here posting…..so far so good!

I tried really hard yesterday on my FD. but I feel a bit stalled this morning. So, I will FD it again today.
See, if I can turn around!

It’s pouring rain here but I’m still going outside to stand, so if anyone asks just tell them I’m OUTSTANDING!

Wow @daffodil2010 loving your travelogue! Stay hydrated at altitude & enjoy the views!

    Day 9 – Colorado USA – FD

Yesterday very nearly became an accidental FD, until I grabbed a large handful of Cheetos. That’s why I have to be so careful of what crosses the threshold. (No ice cream. Ever.) If it’s in the house, it’s fair game. So the reminder of the bag hit the bin!
The entire rest of the day was all healthy choices. Ended on positive note (with delicious blueberries) well below TDEE. And today is a FD!

So far, I’m hanging tough with the Dry Januarians & the Sugar-Slayers. Not missing the sugar at all. If being honest, I am missing red wine a touch. But liking how I make better food choices with no drinks to muddle my judgement.

Would also love to join the Daily Plankers but the fascia & muscle under my abdominal incision are not ready yet. I’m joining you all in spirit though with my morning calisthenics circuit. My cat & dog have learned to watch from a safe distance so as not to encounter my swinging arms or legs. Then they rush in for pets & ear rubs as soon as I finish. So cute!

    Day 9 – Perth, Aus – FD

Erm, yeah. Not going so well! Only one fast day in the first week, so didn’t weigh in as a result (suspect nothing to see!) Have succeeded in doing a fast day today and will push that into tomorrow as far as I can. Going to stick to the next fast day too. No more wimping out or “I’ll catch up tomorrow”! That said, I have managed to cut out the cola though. Not a drop since new year’s eve, and no other soft drink either. Taking that as a plus, must have some will power left in there after all…

Still catching up on all the posts. Ten pages worth! That’s what you get for not checking in!!! I have done some skim reading for motivation though, hence getting back into it. I like the idea of daily planking challenge. Will have to read back to see what you’re all up to and incorporate some of the ideas into my own routines. It always helps to see how other people do things 🙂 Hope to post again soon – not in a week and a half 😐

    Day 9 Akron OH FD
Happy birthday @onahealthyhigh!! Many happy returns of the year to you 🙂
@happymargo @at and @debster251 thank you for your kind words. @penz I am sure you will, that is the beauty of this way of life.
@janejust it is never too late to join, so welcome! I am sure @mjrbcd44 will add you. I haven’t accessed the spreadsheet in a couple of months otherwise I would add you myself.
I agree with @bigviking I just check in at least once a day to keep myself motivated and accountable.
For those who were wondering, I was one of the winners at the “Maintain don’t gain” challenge we had at work this year. So I am entered into the drawing to win a month’s worth of Blue Apron deliveries for a month. wish me luck!
Keep fighting the good fight, you are all worth it.

    Day 9 UK CD

    SW 81kg /178 lb (1 Dec 2017)
    GW 63kg /140 lb
    CW 77.5kg /171 lb

    Down another 0.5kg.

Yesterday’s FD was harder than expected. I appreciated the energy and clear thinking that comes with body not being busy digesting food, but I got quite tired, headachy and irritable. I was drinking water as though pouring it down a drain, 500ml at a time and it didn’t touch the sides! Clearly there’s a lot of water in food that needs replacing on FD.

Love reading all the posts from around the world. Amazing how much we have in common despite the differences. Thank you for sharing insights, ideas and challenges – they all make me feel connected and more determined.

Still trial and error with food that works for me as well as being low calorie. Need to increase protein and not quite so much root vegetables. But more thought required for veggie or vegan ideas.

Phone battery nearly gone. Back to work, renewed and reconnected! Stay strong, we’ve got this.

    Day 9 USA (Illinois) FD

How good to be home in my own bed, and back on my own scale! Glad that my time away with holidays was still good for maintenance. Travel day was just fine, too.

Welcome, newbies, and yes, you can still join at any time. This is one of the most beneficial and supportive blog groups ever formed!

Back to my home tasks with volunteering to get a Children’s Museum in our area, choral society directing, piano lessons, and keeping warm in the Illinois winter. Oh, and feeding my birds again. I know they missed me. 🙂

    Onward and downward.

    Day 9 – Fuertaventura – NFD

Well, sadly, an unexpected (definitely unplanned) FD yesterday… shouldn’t be …. not on holiday!! I just felt so poorly with my cold it was all I could do to keep drinking water. I’m feeling a little better today so hopefully on the mend!

Enjoying all your wonderful posts … some fabulous encouragement for those starting out.

Day 9 (really?! Where is this year going!), Florida, CFD

Like some of you have mentioned, I usually really enjoy my FDs, a strange sense of empowerment. But last night I really struggled. I normally do a liquid FD, and I wasn’t particularly hungry. Yet I still allowed myself a bowl of stew my OH had made on the weekend. It was really good and probably well below 500 calories. But that awoke the snack dragon and I just “had” to have a spoon of peanut butter. Probably till qualifies as a FD but not the one I wanted!

But I can pat myself on the back for one thing. I did one 50 second straight arm plank and one 40 second elbow plank last night. I’ve got residual core muscles there somewhere!! Wondering if anyone can help with my technique. This might sound odd but I have an arthritic right big toe and it hurts to have it bent at that right angle you need to plank. I’ve tried to hook my right foot over my left (like a three-pegged plank!) and that sort of helps but it throws my balance. Any suggestions?

I laughed at your slow cooker Saffy420. My OH “stole” his mother’s slow cooker which had been sitting in the back of the pantry for years. It’s also got the brown 70s look with pictures of vegetables around the base. He loves it.

I’ll be curious to see how you find the coca tea, Daffodil2010. What does it taste like? Do you get a bit of a buzz?

Am going to fast until dinner today. Focusing on looking forward to a nice steak with an accompanying broccoli slaw. Yum!

Stick with it Elektron. Deciding to give up all sodas and sticking with it is definitely something to be proud.

Hello all from NI day 9 NFD

Just checking in and book marking my read up to pages. Take care x

    Day 9 Preston Uk CD

    Good afternoon world🌈🌎

Had another good FD yesterday amd my husband was really surprised as to how easy it was during his trial FD, especially considering it was his first. He’s decided he’s going to join me on my FDs going forward so that way we’ll be able to support and encourage each other.
Another footy match tonight ( Man City v Bristol city) so another tricky one. 😬 Avoiding all the food I usually eat at a match is never easy but reading all the positive and motivational posts on here is keeping me really motivated.
So hopefully another win, win today!
Thanks guys and have a great day wherever you are. 🌎

    Day 9 – Iceland – NFD

Yesterday’s fast went well and today I haven’t eaten yet, will try not to break the fast until this evening.
@mari84 – I too love this feeling of being slimmer already although cruella may not agree 🙂
@daffodil2010 – love your Peru posts, exited to read more!
@saffy410 – thanks for the recipe tip, lasagne is one of my favourites, so will definitely try this.

    Have a great Tuesday everyone💐

    Day 9 – USA – NFD

@basyjames, hooray for your win! @toddybear, feel better.

    Day 9 – 🇬🇧- NFD

Day 9, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Hello all, day two of my three in a row fasts. I, like others mentioned, look forward to the control and stability of a fast day.

Adding elevated planks to my schedule has been fun, put my feet on the weight bench yesterday – the key is to gracefully get up without crashing to the floor. Yesterday I did four 3 1/2 minute planks – the elbow plank, elevated, high and elevated.

Food is going well, water and tea – no problem.

So happy for the fresh start a new year brings.

    Day 9, NFD

Thank you everyone for your replies and encouragement re: sugar highs at the weekend. Glad to say, all is back on track with an excellent FD yesterday and healthy eating NFD today – plus a session in the gym this morning, including planks!! Weight 13st 1lb this morning, lowest yet since starting this programme, and still on target to get below 13st by end Jan.

I thought I’d share a recipe for healthy coleslaw, adapted from my Delia Smith Xmas book recipe. Take roughly equal quantities of carrots, celeriac, and white cabbage, and shred them. For every 600g of veg, chop in 3 spring onions. Mix in 1 tbsp. low fat soured cream, 1 tbsp. natural yogurt, 1 tbsp. cider vinegar, 1 tbsp. olive oil, and mix well. Season to taste. Add more oil (not too much) if the mixture appears too dry. Will make 4-6 servings.

I had a portion of this with a piece of ready-cooked mackerel for my FD dinner last night. It worked for me!
