  • Hi Annette – hope you have a good run at the Bath half tomorrow and you are pleased with your time, even if you cant quite make the original target because of your interrupted training and illness. Think you are amazing to have picked yourself up so quickly and carried on with the race! We will all look forward to your race report in due course! Hope you get a slap up meal after all that running!

I’ll probably be out in the rain as well but not doing a half marathon, just a 5k jog across the grass somewhere, out-done by my dog.

Fasting has been a tad more difficult the last few weeks as I have hit an extra long plateau – both in terms of weight loss and measurements staying the same – which is somewhat frustrating. 4-5lbs to lose still, but may be I will get there by the summer which was my original target.. Has any one else found that their weight loss has tailed off after a while??

Wishing you all a good week and lovely to hear from so many fast friends these past few days,

Hi all, Annette thinking of you today!

Reluctant multi-tasker, good for you doing a 5k jog, esp. in nasty weather. just want to say, you aren’t the only one slowing down in weight loss. I’ve been toying with the same pound for a few weeks. still, not too far to go to target, so I expect that is why we are slowing. I expect that we should get the pounds gone by summer, just not as quickly as at first.

hope you have a great week. Phyllis

Bath Half was run in the pouring rain and a chilly wind. We were doing OK until around mile 9 when I got cramp in both legs and really struggled. Overall, we ran just 2 minutes faster than last year. I am disappointed with our time, we ran around 18 minutes faster in September.I have sore thighs and some very sore toes(which I have not been brave enough to look at so far!).

Thank you for all of your support. I shall have a week to recover and then re-join you next week.

Well done Annette, you did do it and you were faster, be pleased with yourself…Rain and a chilly wind is no fun at all, a sunny day would make all the difference.

We got to the swimming baths today and back on track… I did manage my usual 30 lengths a bit tough going and about 8 mins slower but not bad with two months off. Hubby was also fine and managed what he normally does but also slower, his bad knees let him down.

Hope everybody has a good week.
    Jean x

annette, you are a hero. Pouring rain, chilly wind and, worst of all, cramp. But you got there in the end. Respect!

wow, you finished, and 2 minutes faster!!! what will being ill, and the nasty weather, I think you did great to just run it!!! rest up my friend and recover.

Jean, good for you!!! I think you did well after a while off.

hope everyone is having a great day! Phyllis

    Annette
Would have been so easy not to have ran at all, so a similar time after setbacks just shows how much you are permanently changed for the fitter.
BTW sticky toffee pudding is half price at the Co-op 🙂

Does anybody else have family or friends what buy you cakes and biscuits especially for you when you visit?…….again when she visits us she brings cakes again!

My sister does it every time, she says ” my Hubby likes a piece of cake” so he has a piece and so do I. I know we can but I like to be in charge of what we eat. He will eat cake any and every time. Today we had coffee and cake out as a treat, so that was enough….until we got there and had more.

I know we can say no but Hubby says ” you can’t refuse if it’s been brought in special as she lives alone and it would waste.

I think it is very mean when she knows we are trying to loose weight.

    X

Thank you all for your wonderful support. I am still a bit sore and still 14 lb lighter than I was when I ran it last year. I am fitter and have a new shape, so I am trying to focus on what I have achieved. I roared with laughter about the half price sticky toffee pudding-thanks snedger!

I have eaten loads of biscuits, cakes, puddings this week so far and I just accept that the I will be starting the 5:2 again next week. The tape measure and scales will be a reality check, but I know that it is all quite achievable.

Jean that is tricky.Perhaps she is worried that you are going to fade away, but can’t tell you that.If you believe that she is simply trying to undermine you, then you could just give her back the cake that she gave you on her last visit. You could ask her not to bring cake when she visits, but seeds for vegetable/fruit plants if she really wants to bring something. She is still bringing food, but it will not be immediate and will be something healthy to eat.

I think she is knows what she’s doing, she says things like, I’ve eaten two blocks of chocolate and a bottle of wine this weekend!

She is 5′.2″ and a size 8…. but possibly a bit under weight. I’ve a long way before before I fade away. Next time she visits I will tell her not to bring cakes and not to be so mean….it is like her stopping smoking and I offer her one! (I don’t smoke) it would be unkind and mean.

When she brings a cake she expects to eat it with a cup of tea…as she arrives.

Well done on the stone lighter than last year. You will get on track next week. When’s the next half marathon?
    X

If she’s doing it on purpose, she deserves a thorough telling off. Would I be guessing right that she is the sort of person who, if you weren’t working hard to lose weight, would criticise you for being too fat and show the complete lack of understand common to people who have never had a weight problem?

Sounds just like my ex-sister-in-law who behaved in a very similar way. I shouldn’t rejoice over the fact that she and my brother are divorced, but in my opinion he’s well shot of her. He shares the family weight problem. Madam would make rich desserts, especially when there were visitors, then publicly tell him off for eating them.

Aww how annoying – but not worth causing a family rift.
Cut 3 slices, give them a slice each and tell her you will save yours until later. Then wrap the rest of the cake in cling film and give it her back telling her you have kept your weekly allowance and need the temptation out of the way.
If she does it again offer her their slices and throw the rest to the birds. She might get the message then 😀
Well done Annette – great news on a FASTER time too (see what I did there :P) now put your feet up for a while and look after your toes!

She sounds mean.If she turns up with cake when she visits next time(despite being told not to)and then insists on eating it, make her eat it outside. Then she can come in for the cuppa-that should get the point across.

Just booked the next half-September 7th. I plan to be another stone lighter by then, which should make me faster and hopefully another 4 inches off my waist.

There are some folk that just try to sabotage other peoples weight loss.I also think that says rather a lot about them, none of which is flattering.

Thanks for your answers, you make me feel better, it’s not just in my head! I will try some of your answers….

    X

Thanks Lindyw, just 1 sore toe now and socks/tights all have seams!
I also think that your response to the difficult relatives is the best.

No Jean, it’s not in your head. There is an awful lot of psychology in weight loss, not just for those who are shrinking in size but gaining in confidence. Other folk can feel threatened and may react in ways that are unsupportive, to put you back where you were.It takes time for them to adjust, but if you stand firm then they eventually get used to the new you.

Annette, well done!!!! Shaving off any time is an accomplishment, especially considering everything leading up to the race!!

Today my 4 year old is sick with a stomach virus. So all I’ve done (on my fasting day) is stay snuggled up with her & watch cartoons. (Minus the sickness, I love days like this!) But no gym for me today. Anyway, since I’m sitting & doing nothing, I realized I’m 9 weeks until my birthday & desperately wanted to be at goal weight by then. I was so close…but I’ve never gotten back on track since the holidays. Ugh!!! But if I stay focused I should get pretty close by my birthday!! And it doesn’t hurt that swimsuit season comes soon after!

Happy fasting, all! And Symba7, I feel for ya with the whole sweets situation. As a vegetarian, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve used the allergy excuse a few times so people will take me seriously!! If I tell people I’m allergic to tuna, they won’t just scrape it off my sandwich when they’ve made a mistake. Ha!!!!

Thanks mommabear. I hope that your little one is feeling better.Shall we start together next week? How about a measure and a weigh in this weekend. Start next week and see just what we can both achieve in the next 9 weeks?

When the threat of drugs to reduce my blood pressure, was hanging over me last year, I was very motivated. Then having lost weight and blood pressure now normal,I need a pit of a push to get going again. I need a deadline to work towards.

The tuna episode is very very funny.

    Hi,
Just weighed in, although a good week Fasting and two swimming sessions…we have both stayed the same. Although I forgot we ate out twice…and visited the sister! Is it inches this week? Two weeks before we measure.
    Maybe better next week.

What you doing up at 4am Annette? Are you aching and sore?

Hope the little one better soon Mommabear! It’s nice to have a snuggle…

    X

    Hi,
Correction as above, just had my hands slapped Hubby lost 1lb, he always is one step ahead of me!
    X

Woken up at by son no.2 arriving back from a night out. I think that I am a heavy sleeper, but perhaps not. Then my mind was racing and I struggled to get back to sleep. Just 1 sore toe now. TGIF!
My plan is to weigh and measure tomorrow morning and then start back next week.I have joined a tiny and very local gym and intend to do weights for my weedy arms and some interval/speed work to improve my stamina/speed of running. So that is 2 sessions at the gym, 1 evening at Ceroc and one long run at the weekend.

There may be some sobbing after the scales/tape measure reality check, but I know that it can be shifted….it might take rather longer than I would like.

    Hello Fast Friends,
The deed is done and I now know what the numbers are.
My goals are to lose that 2 inches that has reappeared on both my hips and bust, along with those 10lbs that slid on over December. The other goal is to lose the next 4 inches off my waist this year, to achieve that mystical waist measurement that is less than half my height.

How is everyone doing? Any lurkers that would like to join in? All welcome.

    Hi Everybody,

It’s gone very quiet on here! …….How is everyone doing?

We have been visiting our daughter near Cardiff…so not a good food weekend for us..also travelling 4 hours both directions, missing one swimming session. Excuses, Excuses we haven’t been very strong.. Moved our Fast day to today and again Thursday.

So not looking forward to weigh in on Friday or any inches what haven’t moved!

    Good luck to you all.
    X

    Hi Jean,
I’m sure that you have done better than you think and so much better than nothing at all!

    I hope everyone is OK.

I worried much of Sunday about my first fast day for a while, I don’t know why. Monday was fine apart from a headache, which went with some paracetamol. I even went to the gym and did some weights for my weedy arms.I am doing Thursday too.I’ll weigh and measure on Saturday.

hope everyone is having a great day! I have had a “bad” week. our local store had a sale on ice cream. did I mention I have an ice cream addiction? LOL. still managing to fast, but boy on those “eat” days, I have. found a couple of pounds I had lost.

been a really stressful week. my aunt, whom I love dearly, is really ill. and because of my health problems, I can’t go visit her. so, I have eaten everything in sight. the only good thing about that is it reminded me of why I don’t do that anymore. 🙂

sending everyone wishes for a great day. Phyllis

Oh Phyllis, so sorry to hear about your aunt and that you are unable to visit her. Can you skype? Perhaps you can do one thing every day that brings you some joy and isn’t food related. Be kind to yourself.

I love ice cream too and know that there is some mint choc chip with my name on it in the freezer!

I am just back from the gym and feel shattered and can’t believe that it is a fast day again tomorrow. There is a degree of panic that I need to eat more this evening to prepare….which I know is nonsense.

Hi Annette, ooh, watch out for that ice cream. 🙂 my weakness is toffee caramel crunch. oh, goodness! since tomorrow is your fast day, I think you just might need to have some of that tonight. 😉

hope you are feeling less shattered after your workout.

I’m afraid I can’t Skype, I have never tried, and my aunt wouldn’t have a clue. LOL. however, her granddaughter called and I got to speak to my aunt, she is doing much better. I may yet get to go visit, thankfully. now all I need is a really good day so that I can get there.

thank you for the suggestions. I will try to do that, anyway the eating too much made me even more miserable. 🙂 today is a fast day and I’ve done ok, so hopefully I’m back on track. take care and good luck with your fast day tomorrow. hugs Phyllis

hello! I was away for a bit, but is nice to see you friendly crowd over here 🙂

Annette you going for it! You booked another half marathon … well done! Good luck with staying focused and ‘on target’ 🙂

symba – i have one of those friends too. Last time she came with a cake on my fast day… i had another friend visiting too, so felt awful saying: sorry i want have any cake today, but my other friend is wheat intolerant so she didn’t have the cake either. It was funny to see, but she didn’t enjoy her slice of cake at all, after all she was the only one eating it! Guess what? now she doesn’t pop in with treats at all.

i had a weird couple of weeks- scales didn’t want to move despite doing ADF which was disheartening, but the whole thing about fasting is, that it does make me feel better about myself, so i stuck to my guns ( i did go overboard on my fast days sometimes, but i didn’t care much) today i was cleaning my wardrobe and found a black dress i bought on my honeymoon 8 years ago. after trying some trousers i never thought i will fit again (and finding out they FIT!!!!) I gave that dress a go ( i only worn it 2-3 times and couldnt squeeze myself in it ever again) i really didn’t think i will zip it up because is a fitted dress but I DID IT! wow, so pleased (i don’t even know if i’ll ever wear it as is really a honeymoon type of dress, and not sure if i should flash my boobs so much after having 2 kids :)) but the fact i ‘reversed my figure’ by 8 years! Two more years and I’m done… time to look like i did when i met my hubby, and was truly happy with myself! 🙂

whoohoo Issu!!!! good for you!!! that is wonderful. isn’t it fun when you try on something you think won’t fit and find out it DOES! don’t get too disheartened that the scales aren’t dropping rapidly. your fasting is working, one day one will get on the scales and they will have gone done, probably quite a bit.

wishing everyone a great day. Phyllis

Thank you Phyllis! Yes it does make you feel great!!!!!! I’m making small adjustments in my diet to see if i can make the scales tip other way, but still very happy with my results over all. if i carry on like that will be wearing bikini with pride this summer! 😀 if we only get summer in UK?!

    good day everyone! 🙂 xxx

I am thinking clothes shops (M & S in particular) have been messing with our heads. I wanted a pair of cream coloured chinos and saw just the right ones in M & S so bought them in Size 14. They are a great fit just slightly loose as I like them. Looking for a hanger I spotted another pair in my wardrobe (under a navy pair).
They were exactly the same as the ones I had just bought but size 16 – they still had the label on and I remember buying them about the same time last year but they were more that a little snug. I tried them on and they fitted just the same as the size 14! Whats going on?

Hi Phyllis, Glad to hear that you got to speak to your aunt and that she is much better.I didn’t have the ice-cream, told myself to get a grip.
Hi issu, fab to hear about the cake incident and the change in habit from your friend. Fantastic to hear about the trousers and the dress! You must be thrilled. You really made me think about reversing the years in terms of your figure. I think that I have reversed mine by 20 years!!!!!!!
LindyW I understand from one of the managers when I asked the exact same question, that they make clothes all over the world, which is why they are inconsistent. But on the plus, you now have more trousers that are a fantastic fit.

I have had a day in bed-tummy bug. Fast day has been a breeze!

Hi fast friends! Havent been able to post recently because of some glitch with my pc. Every time I went to this website, it didnt display properly and my PC would freeze! Very frustrating!

So I wasnt able to commiserate with Symba over the cake issue etc! Not sure what I would have done in your position, Symba – probably I would have given your sister a slice and then wrapped up the rest of the cake for her to take home at the end of her visit with a ‘it was kind of you to bring this but we dont really eat cake any more so it would be a shame to waste it.’ Sometimes courtesy can make quite a statement! I hope that by standing your ground, staying cool, she has now resorted to bringing non-calorific gifts like a plant or bunch of flowers!!

Sorry about your tummy-bug Annette and hope that you are feeling better. That’s one way of accomplishing a fast day but not to be recommended!!

Yes, Lindyw, I agree that there are not really any consistent sizes out there among retailers. I find the online reviews on websites (such as Fatface, Boden, M&S etc) very useful because people often alert others if there is a need to size up or down for a particular garment which isnt true to size for some reason.

Well after weeks of being on a plateau, weight-wise, I’ve had a sudden dip again, which seems to be the pattern for me (although the plateau stretched out over many weeks this time). First thing this morning, after a fast day, I had actually achieved my target weight for one giddy moment at least!! I know that after a few days of normal eating I will be heavier so it will take some time and more fast days before that weight becomes the norm and something I can sustain. But I’d just like to encourage anyone who has hit a plateau to keep going with the 5:2 routine. Sometimes progress is unpredictable and not to schedule!! But be patient, keep going and you will see improvements.

I might be the same weight as I was in my twenties, , but Im still carrying more of it round the waist and tummy than I did then – my waistline is a couple of inches larger. Perhaps that is just a result of being middle aged ?!! Or perhaps, like with all of this, I just need to persevere and be patient. Any suggestions anyone? Has anything worked for you? I do exercise a fair amount – gym, a bit of running and regular long dog walks.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

    Hello Ladies!

@annette 20 years WOW! There is something to celebrate! Must feel awesome!

@lindyw I work for a big brithish clothes retailer (250 shops in UK) and i can tell you they are messing around with us but the opposite way. Clothes are going bigger, stretchier and they on purpose choosing ‘flowing’ designs to accommodate different shapes instead eg fitted non stretchy top, will only fit as many people… What i can think of M&S either made them too big (too loose) last year, and adjusted to fashion and demand. Or like Annette suggested the chinos were made by different manufacturer and one of them mess out measurements. Whichever way, its good news for you! 2 pairs of chinos to wear!!! ( i love chinos myself, have about 5 different colors!:)

i had ‘interesting day yesterday’ I got proper sugar munchies, and tried everything to push the craving away. 2 pints of water, peanut butter and banana sandwich, half a bag of almonds, and instant tomato soup just made me full but i was still looking for a fit. So i gave in- had 6 pieces of fudge (im not even fun of fudge! had it seating in the cabinet since christmas!) but it was the only sweet thing i had in the house 🙂 It was first time since i started fasting, so i wonder if my body needed something or it was just psychological thing? the fact i love about this diet is, you just pick yourself and carry on next day. No guilty feelings of failing

fast day today, and so far so good. I’m going to see if i can see my weight going down after changes i done, pushing it I know, but I’m fed up now with luck of results. Only 10 pound to go reach my sisters weight which would be greatest achievement so far!!! (she was always much slimmer then me)

happy fasting to members on the fast day 😀

Hi issu, I sometimes get craving for sweet things yet I don’t usually have a sweet tooth so I think it must be our bodies saying gimme gimme!
Well my big problem now is – should I keep 2 pairs of chinos that are the same? I can’t take the size 16 back as I have had them for a year, but I want the size 14 label!
Not thought about a different colour though so maybe I should look at that option. 😀

@lindyw different colour sounds like a great option to me 😀

    Hello Fast Friends,
I am feeling much better today.Just eaten pasta followed by ice cream, which was lovely.
Different colour chinos sound like a great idea to me too.
I have a sweet tooth and often get a craving for sweet things, but I usually find that as the weeks tick by that becomes less and less. Then when I do have something sweet, I find a much smaller amount is enough. So that is a great result for me.
I had been wondering for some time whether there was vanity sizing going on. I have found it difficult to find clothes that are more fitted as I have got smaller, so thanks issu, I am not going mad after all.
Be patient.I am sure that you will notice changes. Try on your clothes and get the tape measure out.
I will weigh and measure tomorrow, hopefully there will be less of my hips.

My trousers that were too tight and I couldn’t pull over my bottom…..do up!I am beyond thrilled.

    So happy for you, Annette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you Carla.
I have to admit that I am quite baffled this morning, the scales claim that I have lost 4lb, an inch off the bust and the hips….all in a week.I have been ill with a tummy bug and didn’t eat much for a couple of days, so there may well be an increase over the week when I get back to eating normally.I have had a clothes try on and whatever the scales say, there is definitely less rear!

My son and I have started an 8 week 10k Plan last week. This includes x2 gym sessions and a long run at the weekend. We did a rather tough gym session on the treadmill and a few weights afterwards. I was thrilled that I could lift the weight up from the baby one on one of the machines. So that was one gym session for me. How much has all this had an impact on my weight/inch loss?
It will be interesting to see what happens next week.

Weekend plans are to get out in the garden, in the sun(that has been promised but yet to materialize). I am in the process of digging up most of my lawn and turning that into a vegetable plot.I have planted fruit bushes and strawberries, some herbs.Last summer I discovered the complete joy of growing my own peas and beans, and want to repeat that this year with some new crops too.

Love the gardening…went out midweek and tidied my beds and plotting and planning this year’s garden. Have a fairly well established patch of strawberries and a new Bullet Personal Blender, so I am seeeing a lot of smoothies in my summer-plans! I adore “smoothies”

Keep us posted on your progress!

    ((((hugs)))

Hello, fast friends!!! I’ve been MIA this week because my kids have been horribly sick. Stomach virus, relapse of the virus, & then strep again for my 4 y/o. (She gets strep every month & it is brutal!!) Wednesday should’ve been a fast day for me but I’d been up for over 36 hours. I chose sanity over fasting.

On top of not fasting, I also missed the gym for a week. I hate not working out!!! But Friday I was back at it.

Yesterday I experimented a little with fasting. A friend does the 12-8 plan with great success. (She eats only between 12-8, fasting the rest.) While I prefer the 5:2, I needed a change after being cooped up in my house for over a week & only managing one fast day. So yesterday I did barre for an hour & then a tennis clinic for 1.5 hours (intense cardio!!). I fasted all through that, as I had overindulged the night before for a friend’s birthday. About 3 pm I had a Coke (shameful I know) & a protein bar. That night my husband & I had a rare date night (yay!!!) at our favorite restaurant (even bigger YAY!!!). I could only eat half of my food & brought the rest home. I made sure I was finished eating before 8 pm. This morning I weighed & I’m a pound less than yesterday. I usually weigh a few times a week & average my weight. I don’t think I lost a pound just from the 12-8 plan, but think all my exercise yesterday helped me after a yucky week. But I might try the 12-8 plan in addition to my 5:2 regimen.

I desperately need to work in my garden as well! But it’s a rainy day here today. My parents have a HUGE garden & we all help & benefit from it. Ha!! But I also keep a smaller garden of herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, all kinds of peppers (I’m in the Southern US & we love our peppers!!!!), etc. Spring & summer are my favorite seasons. I’m never indoors once it warms up!!

On the clothing topic (sorry this post is so long), I have been told that many clothing companies stack cut their items. Which means although the same size, the items are smaller or bigger depending on where they were in the stack. I really don’t care what size I wear as long as my inches are smaller!!! But last night on my hot date night (ha!) I noticed my size 8 denim leggings were a bit loose. That’s unbelievable news because the scales still have me way higher than my pre-Christmas weight. I haven’t been brave enough to measure!!

Happy fasting all!! Tomorrow is a fast day for me but today I’m trying the 12-8 again. Hoping to get back down to my pre-Christmas weight soon. Plus I’m still trying to lose it all by my May birthday!!!

Annette, forgot to ask, how old is your son who runs with you? How long have y’all run together? My boys are 9 & 7 & extremely active. I used to run but broke my ankle 5 years ago. I still struggle with it most days, but can still play tennis, do yoga, barre, etc. But running always bothered it. Anyway, have considered trying again to see how it goes. Would love to enter some races with my super competitive sons!!!

Phyllis, how is your aunt? So sorry she’s ill. It’s so hard watching our loved ones age!!

Hello from a rainy Denmark. Totally enjoying reading this thread reminding me of realism and what’s important.
I have been a little frightened of weighing myself incase I get demoralised if I don’t lose weight. I am entering my 4th week and have had the experience many of you others have described. Better defined face, baggy trousers, thighs that no longer rub together! I have Also started yoga this week- totally wonderful. I Will watch out for posts from you lovely inspirational 5:2 ers. Good luck!

A bit more grass dug up. I shall be laying down some plastic sheets today to create some paths and hopefully some borders that will be full of flowers and make a new home for the toad that wanders through the garden….well, that’s the plan up until and including Easter.
I ate 3 meals yesterday and stood on the scales just to see if there was a difference. I have gained 2 lb which is great, a 4 lb loss in a week was worrying me.
mommabear what a time you have had with ill children.I hope they are all much better now. It sounds like the youngest might need a different antibiotic to get on top of the strep.Loose size 8 leggings???? Be brave and get the tape measure out.
My chaps are 24,22,19 and 17.My eldest runs with me and started only because I was worried about running on my own in the dark. I have no sense of direction or will power, so it was only going to be possible if I ran with someone else. Many of the races here have an age limit of 16, but there are also family runs for all ages.If your boys are super competitive then perhaps they could join a club for youngsters doing a range of sports.Maybe you need to do some exercises to strengthen your ankle first? I have certainly noticed that my ankles have got much stronger as a result of running,or perhaps it is all the other leg muscles that are much stronger?
Hi susywo and welcome.Just think about the fat that you can’t see which must be going if your trousers are baggy, face is more defined and thighs no longer rub together. The reading on the scales is just part of the overall picture, along with how you look and how your clothes hang.
I needed to see that there was a difference, that fasting was having an impact on how my body looked, which is why I chose to measure myself from the start. Sadly I forgot to measure my upper arms, which have gone from podgy to toned-my sleeves on my jumpers are loose.
The sun is shining in Somerset and we are off shortly for a run in the sun.Have a great weekend Fast Friends.

Annette, I should’ve clarified…my loose size 8s are the brand NYDJ & they run a size smaller. Which means I’m probably a size 10…If I were brave enough to actually try on pants. Ha!! I’m a dress size 8 I know, because I recently splurged & bought a new polka dot dress! But jeans?? Oh my…that’s another story for this curvy girl.

And until I know I’m closer to my pre-Christmas weight, I’m not going near the tape measure. I can just tell I’m not where I was…but I’m close.

My boys are soccer & baseball players, so both love running. They’ve run with me before, when my ankle was feeling strong enough. Around here, we have lots of 5k & 10k races. They’re often open to young kids or they’ll offer a fun mile run for kids. Anyway, my brother & nephew are triathletes & my kids love to watch them compete. So that’s why I’m considering running with them. My husband used to be a runner too, but after repeated hamstring injuries he sticks to his bike.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice day! Yesterday it was 70F here. Today it’s raining & snowing. Welcome to Arkansas!! Tomorrow the temps will be warm again. Yay because my garden needs attention!!

    Hello!!!!!!

@annette I’m glad you are much better now, and HUGE well done on your trousers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know that happy feeling, and gosh it feels great! 😀
well done on your achievement in the gym too, how is your garden looking now? We have 2 raised beds in our garden, and plant peas, spinach (grows very fast i recommend and tastes so much better!) carrots and whatever mu hubby puts in. I’m not gardener at all, but he plans is I harvest:D it’s a good deal as I know many people who grow veg but don’t ever eat them! we had glass house there too (we had so many toms last year it was unreal) but it’s gone after those strong winds we had this winter 🙁

I need to tell you: yoe must be a wonderful mum if your son started running to protect and support you! Look at you both now! competing like mad 🙂

sizes wise… i hate UK sizes, they are so large that i sometimes really believe I’m slim wearing size 8, and then go else where in europe just to find out I’m actually size 38-40 (10-12) and leaving shops feeling depressed. I wish size would be a standard thing so we know whats going on 🙂

@carla strawberries is what my garden is missing! Love strawberries!!!!!!!!!

@mommabear always chose sanity over fasting!!!!!!!! 🙂 how is your 12-8 going, I’m doing it on my ‘normal days’ as I’m not too big on breakfast anyway, and starting to look for food around midday. It was always that way, but at least now with the new evidence on fasting I’m not feeling guilty for not eating in the morning 😀

hello @sussywoo hahah you not the only one not liking the scales, I’m a bit obsessed at the moment- trying to overcome the plateau. it’s not helping me at all but every morning with the great hope there I am 😀 today it has showed me i lost 2 lbs but i dont trust it now, as it told me that before just to change its mind the next day and add it back up 😀

    I’m sticking to my changes…
not having milk in my caffeinated drinks, drinking (forcing myself!) 2 l of water, and having fish oil all in one go in the evening so i don’t forget (plus i read a study it helps women to loose weight if they having they fat in the evening :D)I’m on the day three, and I dont pull faces anymore when I drink my coffee 😀 give it another week/ month I may actually enjoy it heheh speaking of water… I have to go ladies (need a wee again!!!) good night! 🙂 xxx

    Hi,
Really hitting a plateau, three weeks no weight loss should of measured this week but we forgot….will do it next week. Hubby lost 1 pound so he is pleased. Am I getting to the weight my body wants to be? I would like another 7 lbs off!

Had a heavy weekend away but very nice, we were so ill overnight with heartburn, on what we had drunk and eaten, we just can’t take it and both said we deserved it! ….no more!

Hopefully for us, a good week ahead, swimming, walking and good Fasting.

Lovely to hear from everybody, it was quiet on here last week.
Good Luck this week to all…x

@symba dear! Hold on there your body may want to stay in one place but you can fight it ! 🙂 my weight stayed in one place for 3 weeks despite fasting every other day, I and places I measured stayed same too but my clothes definitely are loosened. I realized that 2 things changed since I started fasting. For last 2 weeks I didn’t eat nearly as much oily fish as before and I got bored of my herbal teas. Since I started drinking lots of water again and had daily supplement of fish oil things started moving again. Maybe give it a go ? Xxxx

    Hi Issu,

Yes I am still focused but disappointed. Really I think the weekends maybe letting me down, a cake to many, a few more wines too much. We always have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. I must be just tipping it too much, Hubby is doing the same but is still loosing. Not Fair! I am getting close to my goal weight but would like another 7 lbs off. Hubby has a bit more to loose than me he is saying 7 lbs but I really think 14 lbs off is more to the mark!
We have just discussed the menu of the week to Friday, so all very thoughtfully chosen! We have been swimming today, our Fast day, and have also had 30mins walk around our village.
So hopefully some movement on Friday….Er. .Water yes…I am not drinking as I did…I will go and get a glass, sometimes it’s nice to be reminded
    Jean x

Jean 🙂 what day is your weighing day? I noticed that I always ” put on weight” after drinking wine and it stays higher for a day or two. I think is a water related thing like my body is holding on to it or something. Does it make sense to you? 🙂 also remember that men lose weight easier then women especially if they got more to lose ( please don’t tell your hubby I said that- they always deniling it :)) xxx
