  • Hi Thin, not sure about further east, but I don’t think we have this retailer in S.A. When I get Changs noodles from Coles they are about $2.60 normal price or $1.80-$2.00 when discounted. They are on sale approx every 4-6 weeks, so I just stock up when they are discounted. It’s quite rare for me to pay the normal price.

    Good afternoon everyone,

I have been busy today so did not get to read the posts until now.

My Friday weight in did not result in any weight loss, but I am sure things are rearranging themselves on my body at the moment! I noticed over the last few days that my walking pants have started to feel looser on me. I thought it was my imagination due to the no weight loss on the scales but today I feel convinced that there is looseness in the waist but more noticeable looseness in the top of the legs to the point that they are no longer fitting tightly.

I was going to have a FD today but decided that I would just keep the calories to under 1000 for the day.

Thin, I can not change the dates on my April tickets to Japan with Jetstar, but I would not want to in any case because I have plans for the Narita Taiko Festival during those dates and dont want to miss it. It would mean that I will be going in November, February and then April.

CalifD hope your flight was not too exhausting especially since you were doing a FD as well.

LJoyce, thanks for the heads up on the legume flour. I had not thought to use this but have been finding all these interesting things in the health food section of the supermarket.

Cinque, I was interested in your post about Adzuki sprouts. How did you do this? I love sprouts but have never been into growing my own. We used to buy sunflower sprouts from a lady at the markets years ago and loved their peppery/nutty flavour. I should try to make them myself. Can you advise me on the process?
So so glad that your results were favourable and they did not demand surgery.

Gday, everything seems to be rosy in your neck of the woods. Anniversary dinner sounded great and such lovely touches from Oh’s family. And the joy of new clothes!!! You must be feeling on top of the moon!!!

Thin, Have not heard of Spudshed at all. But in Cairns we have very little competition. We dont have Aldi either. Coles and Woolworths have the monopoly, IGA has about two shops and then there are the Friendly Grocers and Nightowl wtores which are only used by me in emergencies when the others are closed as they are so expensive. I like these as a change from the ribbons but I have stocked up on them when they were on sale.

    have a great evening everyone.

Yes I remembered you said that they go on sale regularly. Spudshed is a huge warehouse green grocers. You have to pick your way through the produce (not to mention the people) to get decent quality but it’s so much cheaper than the major stores and they have a huge variety of fruit and veg. There’s also a large selection of frozen fish, very cheap dairy products and lots of meats. Then they have scoop purchase items, sort of like Aldi. I also found some Great Northern beans that I’d been asking CalifD about. The trouble is, being a family of three, we have to be careful not to get carried away. As you know, I don’t like food waste. I might have overdone it today!

Hi JJulie. Your post wan’t there when I started. I’m so disappointed for you re: the scales. But I’m very happy that you are keeping a positive attitude and that you feel your pants are looser. That’s good news indeed. Do you count every single item that you eat on a FD (except the flat white coffee at the drumming lesson which you had no way to estimate)? Or do you wing it?

*wasn’t, sorry! Not enough time to edit. What’s the search function that you speak of LJ?

I too was interested in the search button.

Thin, I am feeling discouraged each morning when I get on the scales. That is why I decided to only weigh in once a week. I am hoping that the no weight loss is due to the walking and drumming I am doing and maybe the weight is muscle that I may be now building up. I am now not treating myself to the wine and it may take some time for my body to flush that fully out of my system. Two weeks before Japan trip and I really would like to get down to 75kg. But I dont think this will happen.
I do count everything I eat on the Myfitnesspal site each day and am usually really strict with myself in putting everything in. I could not wing it as that would not work for me.

JJulie – I’m hoping that when you typed “Nightowl wtores” it was the “w” that was wrong and not the “t”. It was one of those sentences where my brain tried to quickly make sense of what I was reading as I skimmed along the text, and had to go back and read it again carefully just to make sure I wasn’t heading down entirely the wrong path.

Thin – seriously, you’ve been on this site for years and never used the search function. It used to live at the top of the page on the main toolbar, and was the easy way to find old posts on topics of interest. Also useful when searching for recipes that had been posted as you could search on a specific ingredient. Although it would also link to text elsewhere on this site, it mostly searched the forum as that’s where most of the content is.

Well, I’ve eaten way too much today so I think the FD tomorrow is no longer a maybe. I’ve had a headache and fatigue all day from yesterday’s treatment, but I don’t understand why that led to me wanting to overeat. I wonder if sometimes I’m looking for a convenient excuse to behave badly around food.

    Hi All,

Still here and still not able to keep up with reading posts. ‘Here’ means still practicing 5:2 and enjoying being back in the 57 kg range.

For the first time ever I feel I’ve kind of influenced someone in a positive 5:2 way, which is one of the ladies at work had practiced it successfully some time back and had let it go by the wayside. Since seeing me practice it, this co-worker has resumed 5:2 and after overcoming a few initial hurdles that some of us experiencing when starting out, she says it is now getting easier and that she’s enjoying the benefits. I’m chuffed.

PS …Sitting here enjoying my FD dinner of cottage cheese mixed with frozen raspberries! Got to go now though! So much to do and so little time.

LJoyce, hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! The word should have been “stores”

JJulie – thanks for clarifying that, it stopped me wondering about just what sort of emergencies might require you to use that sort of business. 😀
My mind has a bit of a habit of reading or listening to just a few words and trying to make sense of it – and sometimes coming up with some pretty weird conclusions. I was listening to a news broadcast the other day and what I “heard” was that the campervans had taken to the streets. After a few moments of wondering why everyone with a campervan as protesting, I realised it was actually the Catalans that had taken to the streets!

I hadn’t noticed it was gone LJ. I mustn’t have used it much lately, if at all.

Thin – I found it useful for tracking down things I knew I’d read but couldn’t seem to find again.

This has probably already been seen or mentioned, though just read about the search function, which I’ve never seen and couldn’t find, though did click the ‘Twitter’ icon and came upon Dr M’s latest tweet about Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) who apparently shed 3 stone in 3 months and has kept it off for 4 years practicing 6:1. If only I could keep it off practicing 6:1 too!

    Morning all,

I have been up and walked, showered and now getting ready to go to Kuranda (a village in the mountains that are in front of my house)
I am wearing my jeans again today. Even though my scales are not telling me of any weight loss, my jeans are a good indication that all is well.
We will have lunch in Kuranda and that is where I am concerned. Not too many places offer the healthy side of foods there as it is a big tourist attraction place selling Aussie meat pie varieties, home made icecreams, pizzas, hamburgers, etc. I know of one place that sells Japanese food so I will check it out.

Minka, after your post I did a little research on Martin Clunes. Here is an article I found. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4958592/HEALTH-NOTES-MARTIN-CLUNES-5-2-weight-loss-plan.html
I had to calculate how many Kg is in 3 stone and it is about 20Kg. Wow that much in 3 months is amazing.

I will look in again later.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi everyone, I am in Townsville and just starting today. Looking at Mon and Thu being fasting days… I need to lose alot of weight, so hopefully this will be the start of getting back in control of my health. My cholesterol is bad and Doctor is getting cranky 🙂 Im 58 and would love to be in great shape for 60. Long term challenge.

    Welcome Jenlil,

I’m in Cairns and you would be the closest one on this forum to me!!!

This group will definitely help you along your journey of 5:2

Ask questions, as many as you like. Dont worry if you think they may be silly.

I am relatively new to 5:2 as well but have so far lost 7kg. Many on this forum have reached their goal weigh and are maintaining but they have a wealth of information to share with us.

Glad you decided to join us!!

    Good morning,
I have had a couple of busy days and that manifests by making me feel like a grasshopper that has just hit a windshield. Luckily I have a coffee and a slow day ahead. Better than the poor old grasshopper.

    Thanks people, for the comments.

LJoyce I hope you feel better over the day. Enjoy your fast day.

Gday, what a lovely celebratory evening!
btw I’d better have the oldest brother, I haven’t enough energy to be cougar. 😉

Minka hello! So lovely that you have had a minute to post! So glad you are in your 57 range, and lovely to hear about your co-worker… and Martin Clunes!
    Sending good wishes!

We are posting so much here and I am sad for the people who feel like they are trying to join a skipping game but the rope is going around too fast (that’s why I dropped out of another Aussie 5:2 thread here, too hard to keep up). But on the other hand (since I do have time to read) I love the friendly chat and news and ideas and am always glad when I see another few posts have come in.

SpudShed sounds wonderful Thin. I’ve never heard of it before, but my two favourite places to buy veggies are quite similar: big warehouses of vegetables and fruits with some other products too.

JJulie, hooray for your attitude. 5:2 is doing its wonderful longterm sorting out of your health and its pace is not too glacial if it has made that lovely room at the top of your walking pants. No matter what you weigh when you you take off to Japan, you will be feeling lighter and healthier.

    Sprouting Adzuki beans
It is a long time since I have done this. I’d sprout them til the sprouts were about 1cm long (takes about 3 days) and then add them to salads or stirfries. Cooked: they cook really quickly, and are lovely and sweet. Raw: they are crunchy and nutty with a bit of that raw pea taste, if I remember correctly.
    Info: http://markitonutrition.com/adzuki-bean-sprouts/
    How to sprout them: https://sproutpeople.org/growing-adzuki-sprouts/
What mine looked like sprouted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JTfOu-54zM

Nowadays I mostly sprout whole lentils. Once they have just started sprouting: just a peep of the white bit starting, they can be used in recipes and only take a few minutes to cook. Very handy.

    Hi Jenlil,
    Welcome!
Your post came through while I was writing.

I turned 60 a few months ago, and yes! you do want to be in good shape for that milestone!
I do hope 5:2 suits you! If you can fit it into your life so it is sustainable it can make the most wonderful difference to your longterm health.

I’ll be fasting with you on Thursdays! (usually 😉 ) My other regular day is Sunday.
    I hope today goes well!

And PS Hi Cali! I hope all your flying around and meetings are going well!

Welcome jenlil, I was 58 when I discovered 5:2 and reached my goal a year later. I’m now 61 and have maintained my 23 kgs loss for over two years. I went from sz 18 to sz 10 and now weigh 60kgs. Congratulations on deciding to take back control of your health. Have you read Dr M’s ‘Eat, Fast & Live Longer’ book? It’s my top recommendation because there’s a lot of chat on these pages surrounding aspects that aren’t necessarily anything to do with 5:2. The book will provide you with the background science and the foundation from which you can work out how 5:2 can best fit your personal circumstance. As JJulie said above, ask us anything.

JJulie, I have fond memories of Kuranda! Over 30 years ago, I broke my foot river rafting on the Tully River & was ‘forced’ to spend several weeks at the Kuranda youth hostel. What a beautiful setting with lush gardens and a swimming pool. I made lots of friends and visited those hippie markets often. I remember a pretty little train station too.

Cinque, I’ve been missing your regular morning post. I know that Intesha and Merry couldn’t keep up and they’re also missed. I shall endeavour to keep my posts to no more than one per day so that more losers can have a turn at jumping on the skipping rope rather than running through it to avoid the rope.

Good morning all SHs, hope you have nice plans for the weekend.

Welcome Jenlil, there are a few of us here that have found 5:2 not only helped to get the weight off but is a useful maintenance tool too. I hope this works for you too.

Happily I awoke without the headache and fatigue so hopefully it’ll be a good day. I need to head out to the hardware store later and try to find a paint colour that will work for most rooms. Trying to find something “current” that matchee my polished pine floor boards and means I don’t need to change the wood trim colour is proving challenging. Dulux have their colour consultants in various hardware stores this weekend offering free advice, so I figured I’d get some help.

If anyone needs to search this site while its search function is missing you can make google search do it for you.
    Go to google advanced search:
    https://www.google.com/advanced_search
Enter your search parameters, then where it asks for “site or domain” copy the link from the homepage of the site you want to search. In this case it would be https://thefastdiet.co.uk/

You can use this to search any website which either doesn’t have its own search function a doesn’t have one that works well. Useful when you are looking for something quite specific but want it from certain specific sources.

Good Morning everyone and welcome jenlil,

Just read down from the top of the page – Cinque, hope you are OK, nothing too serious, will read back on your posts to find out.

JJ – The pants don’t lie – it’s not just about the weight.

Whoever asked – sprouting is easy! Haven’t do done it for decades but it did it for some time and certainly cuts costs on buying them.

Minka – well done ! So pleased for you. I’ll be up in your territory in December and maybe this time we’ll be able to meet up. That would be lovely.

Jenlil – I started 5:2 3 yrs ago and lost 21kgs to reach my goal weight of 62kgs. It took 2 yrs for me in my particular set of circumstances. LOL and Martin Clunes did it in 3 months. Ce la Vie! My OH does 5:2 on and off and has been supportive overall. He’s lost about 7kgs and kept it off. He’d like to lose more but hasn’t been motivated to do that yet.

OH and I are doing well. Our annus horribulus is progressing but we’re coming through our latest challenge with flying colours. It’s been stressful and exhausting for both of us but the results are better than we expected, and recovery is going very well. We’ve had good support from family and friends and this past week I’ve done 1 successful FD on Monday and Thursdays got bent out of shape after 4pm. Yesterday, to compensate I did a mini fast till 4pm. As some of you know 2017 has been a year where everything has been thrown at us in quick succession, sometimes several things all at once. We all have a time like that and it’s been our turn this year. My success with 5:2 through this continual onslaught had been varied and I thank you for your continued support and advice through the year. It’s really helped me a lot. Thank you my online friends💐

Confession time – I’ve now put on 3.5kgs during the year. I was hoping to keep it at no more than 2, but it’s crept up to 3.5 after this last couple of horror months. Now we’re past the worst and I’m reasonably confident I can get back to 2 successful FD’s from now on. The good bit is this – without 5:2 heaven knows what weight I’d be, or what condition my health would be in without it. I am so grateful that I started this “annus horribulus” at my goal weight. It gave me a flying start on getting through this year relatively unscathed with my health status being maintained. I hate the extra 3.5kgs, but realistically, what would that gain have been without 5:2? I haven’t been able to do 5:2 perfectly throughout the year, but I’ve never given up trying 2 /week, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. The strategies I’ve learnt around food and how I react to them have been enormously helpfulas well, in keeping my weight from ballooning. Without 5:2 being in my life I think I would have been sitting on 95kgs by now. Instead I’m 30kgs less than that. I refuse to be blind -sided by this year. I refuse to give up just because life has been continuously challenging all year. I’ve had to give up wearing 1 pear of trousers, and my favourite ones would be tight if I went up another kg, but I’m now in a position to go down again. Such relief. Life is still super-busy and will continue so for the next 6-12 months as flow- on effects of this year, but hopefully without all of the stress.

    Bye for now,
    Onwards and downwards,
If you fall off the horse get back on,
    Merry and OH

    pear=pair.
Well I am a tiny bit more pear shaped but not many would notice

Hello from Perth! Day 1 for me. Probably not the best day as I have a double shift at work. But I figure I’m out of the house and away from the kids!

Hi oldLisa, welcome. I hope your first fast day goes well. We have some others from Perth on our forum and I’m sure they’ll be saying hi shortly.

Merry, I think a 3.5kg gain over the busy year you’ve had is pretty modest really. I agree that without 5:2 it could have been a whole lot worse. I suspect that once life calms down it will also help you get your weight back to a level you are happier with.

So much has happened while I was up the mountain!!!

Cinque, thanks for the information on sprouting. I am going to look at it more closely next week as this weekend is quite busy for us. I will let you know how I go.

Thin, sorry to hear you broke your foot rafting on the Tully. You would think that would spoil anyones time up here, but you seem to have found a great place to rest and recover, I could see myself enjoying that type of recovery. Kuranda has the wonderful train station still and of course now Skyrail. Was that there when you were in Kuranda? The Hippie markets are not what they used to be. Back in 1987-88 we would go up often on a weekend just for the markets. I loved getting all the fresh vegies and tropical fruit that was for sale. I also found great homemade breads which I could eat in those days. The walnut rye bread was my favourite. There is still lovely green gardens all down the main street which is still very beautiful to see. There is a snake sanctuary, butterfly farm and bird house. All tourist attractions though. I have my favourite dress shop in Kuranda and always pop in to see if the ladies have anything new and exciting. That will be my next story for you!!!!! The Kuranda homemade icecream man is still there in his little caravan. And one of the shops still make their 30 different flavours of Aussie pies. (homestay girl tried the steak and mushroom one, I drank water!!) The plane that crashed is still there too!! There is a lovely little shop that sells homemade lollies called No Worry Lollies, I usually buy these as gifts when I go to Japan.

Meryme, I wore my jeans to Kuranda today. I have only been able to get back into them in the last few weeks, although they were a bit firm fitting, but they were able to be done up at least. I felt good wearing something other than the easyfit black ones that I have been wearing for over a year now. And it was me who asked about sprouting……I love sprouts as an alternative to lettuce in salads. That is why I have been growing Mizuna and spinach so I can use them instead of lettuce which I got so bored of.

Welcome to oldLisa, another newby from Perth. Yes there seems to be a few from Perth on here. Only been to Perth once about 7 years ago but loved every minute of it. Pity it is such a long way away from me. On the flight over I said to OH, I could almost be in Japan by now!!! It took us 7 hours 20 minutes in flying time to get there and that did not include the time spent in Brisbane airport waiting for the connection. A flight for me from Cairns to Japan only takes about 6 and a half hours if all runs smooth.
Hope you enjoy your 5:2 journey with us all helping when we can.

Well, I have to go and get ready for the next event on for us today. One of our friend’s in the shipping industry is having her 50th birthday party and has hired one of the tourist boats to cruise the evening in the inlet.
I am ordering pizza for 18YO and homestay girls and then off we go for drinks and nibbles. OH wanted to take a taxi there and back but I told him I was not drinking so I will drive, that way I have no excuse to break down and have a wine.

So the thing I wanted to tell you all about and mentioned it in the section to Thin was about the new top I bought from the lovely shop in Kuranda. I found a top that I liked that was of course a size 10. I asked the owner if she had this same top in a bigger size, but no she did not. But she said that this brand is always quite generous in their sizes and I know she is right as I had purchased the same brand from her which was a size 12 that fits me fine. Anyhow she said try it on. I was concerned as I wanted to have the top to go over a long sleeve top for when I am in Japan with the cooler weather. Anyhow she said try it on over the top you have on now, which just happened to be a black 3/4 length sleeve top………..It fitted perfectly. I was so surprised there is no tightness at all and it sits on my hips lovely. Of course I bought it!!! A size 10!!!!!

This got me thinking on the drive home……..am I loosing weight up top quicker than I am loosing off the hip area? I have definitely lost it around the middle and in the behind, but maybe not as much as I have lost in the top half of me. Could this really happen?

So OH loves the top. I picked him up from the airport after I came down from the mountain and showed him my new top. He loved the colours of it. I just havent told him the price yet!!!

Will catch up with everyone tomorrow morning, so hope you all have a great night!!

I had a productive afternoon. With the help of the Dulux colour consultant I found a colour that I think might work – apparition https://www.dulux.com.au/specifier/colour/apparition
I bought 3 A3 sheets of cartridge paper and now have large colour samples of the colour in full 1/2 and 1/4 strength. I need to look at the colours in the different rooms at different times of day to work out if the colour will work and what depth of colour I need in each area.
Thin – I washed rather than froze my brush.

My FD ended fairly well. I’ve just had an egg white omelette with spinach, asparagus, mushrooms & parmesan. I was thinking about why FDs are easier when I’ve overeaten the day before. I think they are physically easier as my body doesn’t seem to send its usual hunger signals. Mentally it’s easier as I feel contrite so it helps me behave well.

Hope you are all having a good Saturday – fasting or otherwise.

    Welcome (old) Lisa!
I hope you managed your fast day. You chose a tricky beginning! Cheers for the end of your day! If it was terribly hard hopefully you can plan the next one to be easier.

Merry! So good to see you here! Here is a bunch of flowers for you: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/9f/c1/21/9fc12190c3aaa00589f9fee0d0f1aa6a–pink-bouquet-floral-bouquets.jpg
Hooray for the flying colours you are coming through with! That is such good news.
What wonderful work you have done to keep fasting and steadily doing the best you can for your health, inspite of hell raining down around you. Congratulations on keeping the damage to 3.5kg. You are right, that is a triumph.

JJulie, the top, and the story of the top, is wonderful! Congratulations you skinny thing you!
Yes we do lose weight from different parts of the body at different times. I find that I lose weight last where I put it on first (tummy, upper arms) still dealing with the remnants.

LJoyce that looks a cool colour. Good luck sorting out the details.

Thin, the more posts from you, the better!

    Nigh night everyone!

Good morning everyone & evening to some.
Just did a very long post & somehow managed to lose it.
So all enjoy whatever you are getting up to today. Warm welcome to all those new to this way of eating.
Must go & get ready for my day – bye for now.

    Good Morning all,

Well i wish I could show you all a photo of me in my new size 10 top!!!!
We are taking our homestay student to Hartleys Creek Zoo and Crocodile farm today and I decided to wear this new top. I am so pleased with the new looking me!! I even like myself in the mirror!!!!

The birthday bash last night of the cruise boat was such a wonderful time. Did I forget to tell you it was an ABBA themed party? The Birthday Girl was dressed in Bright Pink Jumpsuit with flared pants and lots of sparkly things attached to it. She also wore a princess crown on the top of her head. All the music was ABBA themed and she danced for most of the night. Many of her high school friends were there and they had all dressed up too and danced the night with her. Her husband who is bald wore a blonde wig and a safari suit. We just did not get the time to source out costumes and in fact my husband was not at all interested in the fancy dress idea.

There were only nibbles on the boat so we had been advised to eat dinner first but as we had a very busy day we did not get much before we left home to go. Therefore I only got to eat some silken tofu with soy sauce for the whole day. OH ate leftovers that were in the fridge. On the boat they had sushi and other nibbles but most people must have been hungry and everything went really quickly. I got two pieces of sushi and that was that. OH drank a lot of wine and talked to a lot of our business associates for most of the night. I spent my evening talking as many photos as I could and drinking the glasses of soda water that OH got me every time he got a wine. I was very pleased with drinking the soda water and I think I will buy some for home as it was nice with a little lime in it and I have a lime tree in my back yard.

LJoyce, I love the colour you picked. Apparition – this colour looks very much like a colour we picked when we first built our house and I wanted every room to be the same colour, except the kitchen, that was a blue colour. I think you have chosen wisely as the reason I picked this colour was because I thought it would go with whatever decor I put in each room.

Cinque, How lovely of you to send a bunch of flowers over the forum.
When I first read your post about my top and your calling me skinny I laughed because I am definitely not skinny, but this morning after I got dressed and looked at my outfit for today I decided that there is a big difference there and although I am not anywhere near my goal weight as yet, I am definitely showing changes that are pointing me in that direction.

Arelkade, We often loose posts on the forum, so some have gotten into the habit of saving them just in case.

Have a great day everyone. And a wonderful fast day for those who are FDing.

    Hi again everyone
Am very pleased to read the posts giving age & how much you have lost in weight over a given time period – so many of you are where I’d like to be eventually – time & motivation will hopefully see results.
I’ve recently turned a young 65, currently 81.6kg, ideal weight 65kg, though happy to get to 75kg for starters; weigh on Sunday’s; FD’s (sort of) on Monday’s & Thursday’s. I’ve lost 10kg over the last 3 years just being more sensible, & feel happy to have found the 5:2 way of eating – the health benefits are amazing! I do need to be more diligent on FD’s though!!!
Enjoy whatever you are all getting up to today. Bye for now

Hi SHs, hope you are all having a nice Sunday.

I went out to brunch with family this morning. As I did my FD yesterday I could have eaten, but didn’t have an appetite so settle for just a pot of tea.

JJulie that Abba party sounds like a whole lot of fun. Size 10 sounds rather impressive too.

Arelkade I agree, I think looking at 5:2 as a long term strategy for slowly getting weight to where it’s healthier is the way to go.

Cinque – I think I’ll be dealing with my upper arm remnants forever!

So now there may be two posts from me today! My original post wouldn’t appear when I pressed ‘submit’ and then I tried it again and got an error message saying ‘duplicate message – looks like you’ve already said that’! I have reported the glitch. Anyone else having trouble?

Cinque, I was tempted to post again about 5 minutes after declaring that I would try to stick to no more than one post per day. But I decided my next two paras could wait until today. So here they are:

Welcome oldLisa. I’m in Perth. Are you NoR or SoR? There are several other losers from Perth, I’ve met seven of them. But I seem to be the only one posting. How did your first FD work out?

Good to hear from you Merry. I hope life gets better for you and OH. Good for him losing 7kgs. I think we all do better when we keep posting, staying connected with like-minded people. Well, except maybe Minka who’s maintained that amazing 57kgs without us.

Arelkade, you can contact JJ at the address below and ask for that post to be re-published by giving the approx. date & time you posted. They seem to disappear during the editing stage. Frustrating. Happy belated 65th birthday. Get the FDs sorted out, make them a part of your life and they’ll soon seem like any other day. I really believe that strict adherence to two FDs is key to success in this WOL.

JJulie, thanks for the Kuranda update. No skytrain in the 80s. Yes, it was just a hairline fracture in one bone but I was NWB on crutches so a bit difficult to hitch-hike. I loved my time there. Hurray for size 10 tops! For Michael McIntyre fans, there’s a “Live At The Apollo” on iView right now with a hilarious account of his wife buying clothes in different sizes. I had such a laugh last night.

I examined the Chang’s konjac packet last night and realised that it’s also two serves. For some reason, I thought it was a single serve which was what attracted me to it. But at least that makes it half the price I’d thought it was!

LJ, have you painted the A3 paper? How come you don’t paint it directly on to the walls? Your colour looks like a darker version of one I chose called Seed Pearl. It came out differently in every room but they all look great. We have 11′ ceilings so I use 50% strength above the picture rails.

FD for me. I’m having another hearty root and barley soup that I found in the freezer. Made a fresh batch of cauliflower soup yesterday. Hoping to drop to 60.2kgs tomorrow as we’ve been invited for a set lunch of seafood with wine and I suspect there will be a significant amount of fried fare. I’ll skip breakfast and OH can have my wine.

    Good morning,

Arelkade, isn’t it annoying when you lose a good chatty post!
So glad you wrote again with some news on how you are going.

I just had the least diligent fastday start in history as my sister took me to breakfast and we had croissant and coffees. Perfect both.
So it is a compromised fast day, but at least I can go from now til miso soup time without eating so hopefully that is enough to give my body a bit of a digestive break and those beneficial little gut biota that like an empty gut can have a nibble on my mucous lining and start replicating themselves!

Aiming to get back to some good Fasty McFast Days after this!

I just updated my profile (had to change ‘in my 50’s’ among other things. Sigh )

JJulie so nice to think of you enjoying a party in your gorgeous new top and sipping on soda water and lime!
I bet you are having a lovely day today at the zoo too.

I’ve just watered the garden (trudging back and forward with the watering can 9 times) (But I did make it a nice meditative task). I’ve got some peas coming up 🙂

Off to do some ironing!!!! (That really does deserve four exclamation marks)

Well, now there may be two posts from me today! My original post wouldn’t appear when I pressed ‘submit’ and then I tried it again and got an error message saying ‘duplicate message – you’ve already said that’! Fortunately, I followed my own advice and copy/pasted my original post. Which doesn’t really help if I can’t re-post it. I have reported the glitch. Anyone else having trouble?

My turn to lose a post! Watch out people!

You inspired me to update my profile Arelkade (had to change that I was ‘in my 50’s’ among other things).

Good idea to have smaller goals on the way to your longterm goal!
Isn’t it nice that 5:2 is a work in progress and we can just keep getting more diligent on fast… and non fast days.

JJulie, what a lovely party with you looking gorgeous in your new top and sipping on lovely soda water and lime!

My Sunday fast has been as far away from diligent as possible as my sister and I went to the Two Fat Monks Cafe and had delicious croissants and coffees.
I will give my digestion a rest now until I have my miso soup this evening, and diligent fast days will happen from now on!

So much for limiting my entries to one post per day! Sorry folks, I have reported myself and hope to get all those duplicates removed! Ha Cinque, it happened to you too! Two Fat Monks sounds fun. We have Two Fat Indians in Perth. JJulie, you can show us your new top here: http://imgur.com/upload

And I thought I had lost both of them! Lucky I didn’t repeat it all for a third time!
    Hi Thin!
I made fava bean soup yesterday. I just love having a good soup in the fridge!

    Cheers all!

    Thin,
I sometimes have the whole packet of Changs for a single meal – depends how much else I put with it. I usually ignore serving sizes on packets as the deciding factor for most food manufacturers is based on marketing decisions and has little to do with health and nutrition. I figure serving size is my decision not theirs. (On FDs I also need the extra fibre that a whole packet of Changs gives me, for very few extra calories.)

I used a combination of painted test sheets as well as paint directly on the walls in some rooms. I painted the sheets of paper because I didn’t want to end up with lots of painted strips in all the rooms – especially where it might make extra work for me later. I did paint directly onto the walls in the main bedroom and the back (darkest) bedroom. I was going to just refresh the white paint in the wet areas, but I have put the lightest sheet in there to see whether the 1/4 strength grey would work there too. If I decide against this then all I’ll need to do is a single coat of white to refresh the existing white paint – If I had grey stripes on the wall it would show through under one coat of white. I learned this lesson the hard way last time I painted, by testing paint colours directly onto hallway walls and even after 2 coats of my chosen colour I can still see that the test areas look different – it’s bugged me for the last decade.
I am noticing how different the colours look depending on how much natural light a room gets. In the lounge I have almost a whole wall of north facing windows so pale colours look washed out – I’ll need full strength in there. Just looking at the colours for a day it’s looking like the rooms at the back of the house that face south will need to be 1/4 strength, but I like 1/2 strength better in the front bedrooms. I was hoping to get away with just 2 strengths, but I think I’ll end up with 3.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
My first Fast Day went really well. I stayed under 400 Cal. Its easy for me when I’m at work because being in customer service I cant eat at my desk. It will be tricky during the week when the kids are at school and I’m at home. That’s when I eat.
I’m NOR Perth. I’m a SAHM of 3/ I work part time usually nights and weekends. I’m turning 50 next year.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all.

Congratulations on your first day youngLisa!
You’ll have to plan a bit differently to fast at home, but you can do it!

I’m at the end of my (so called) fast day. Amazing how my tummy was grumbling just like a normal fast day all afternoon.

Hope JJulie can use imgur to show us that top!

It was 29c today, but just seeing the huge cold front heading toward us from you WAians. A cool week ahead!

    Cinque, what is imgur?

Hi JJulie, it is a way to share your photo, if you have one of your top. That was the link Thin put for you: http://imgur.com/upload It is easy and free!

OK so that was a trial…..a photo I took last night out on the boat. Cairns at sunset.
    Did it work?

    It did! 🙂

JJulie – I was looking at your photo thinking it was a nice photo of the skyline from the water, then I read your next post. So yes it worked.
