  • Hi guys,

Lovely to be a part of the community. I recently came across the documentary that launched 5:2, then read the book and am now fasting once a week.

I penned a guest article for a blog that shares my experience and results so far and I would LOVE for any of you so inclined to add your own tips to the comments section at the end of the article.

I would love to spread the word about the benefits of fasting as I’m sure you would too!

    Cheers!

I have to chuckle because I tell a lot of people about 5:2 and many have commented about how much better I look, though not one person has been interested enough to give it a ‘go’ themselves! Only one person admitted to me that they were too afraid of being hungry. I’m not sure what goes through the others’ heads?! I remember knowing I wanted to try it as soon as I saw the documentary. Maybe that documentary needs to be aired every year to help improve the general health of the population!

    Lael,

I’ve had the same experience with telling others about 5:2. As they say, you can lead a horse to water…

    Soyakid,

Are you fasting to lose weight or for other health benefits? Is one fast a week working well for you?

Thanks for the responses guys! We have such complex relationships with food don’t we??

I work out a lot, high intensity, 6 times a week, and I also eat really clean. So I’m not looking for weight loss, but rather a reset/detox and of course all the other benefits that we don’t see. The 1-per-week is perfect for me. 🙂

Hi everyone! I have been following the 5:2 for just over 3 months now. I also find that people have noticed changes in me and asked what I have been doing, but it goes no further. I have tried so many diet plans that I wasn’t intimidated by the fast days, but many people are. I am doing 4:3 right now because my goal is to lose weight – so far, 20 lbs in 3 months!

I take full advantage of my 500 calories on the fast days, mostly fruit & veg, and a bit of lean protein. I find that if I keep my workouts to NFDs, I don’t get as hungry, but to be honest, I haven’t been exercising much lately.

I find a strange mental clarity on my fast days – I used to get light headed when I didn’t eat enough, but that doesn’t seem to be the case doing this. I feel great. On my NFDs now, my appetite is less – I just can’t eat the quantities I used to, and I am finding myself less and less drawn to empty carbs. Don’t get me wrong, bread and sweets are still my favorite things, but becoming easier to resist knowing how much better I feel on the days I don’t have them.

Thanks for the opportunity to share…good luck to all!

    Hiya Soyakid,
I found the biggest thing for me with the 5:2 is that I was determined to lose weight to make myself feel & look better. Well I had a better appetite. I had better skin. I had an amazing figure. Then all of a sudden a big thing in my life happened & my clinical depression took over & I put all my 19kgs back on. Now here I am again determined as ever to lose the weight all over again & hopefully some more too.
This diet is the best thing I have ever done & I am willing to tell the world about it. My partner has just started doing it with me too & my Mum did it with me the first time around & looks amazing!
Please let me know if I can help with anything.
    Michaela
