  • Just decided to give this a go after a week on another diet that has left my stomach feeling like a hot air balloon, followed it to the letter and only lost .5lb. My friends lost 5 and 4 lbs so not feeling good about it. Really looking forward to this as after seeing the programme and being able to choose when to do it really appeals. Looking forward to reading more on here and picking up so great tips. X

Thanks isman. Ideally I’d like to lose around 30lbs and sounds very encouraging that you’ve almost lost 10lbs since Dec. I aim to start on Monday but want to do as much reading and homework as possible so I don’t get caught short and give in to temptation. Your blog will help me I’m sure along with the many threads on here. Will update on progress. Thanks for the support- it’s much appreciated.

I’ve been on 5:2 for just over a year, I started it for the health benefits alone the weight loss is just a free added bonus.

Advice….. Follow the 5;2 pattern. Recalculate your TDEE every time you see a weight change. Stay within your TDEE on all non fasting days. Never consume more than 25% (1/4) of your TDEE on fast days. Less is better, Make the last meal before a Fast Day a high protein extreme low carb meal. Drink LOTS of water on Fast Day 2.5 to 3 litres at least. You can drink sugar free tea, preferably green tea but any will do, or coffee no sugar no cream or milk but by far water is the best.

I suggest keeping a tight food journal for at least a month of everything you put in your mouth. This can show you clearly where your energy (calories) are coming from.

Get rid of all use of sugar in your household. None! Added sugar in the foods you purchase can’t be avoided but read the labels make good choices.

5:2 isn’t rocket science it’s a pattern of eating that will improve your live, make you healthier, and live longer and as an added bonus you will loss weight.

I won’t say it is easy. At first it can be a little tough and you will hit rough patches. Use the forums there is a lot of great information to be gleaned in here. Adhere to the 5:2 pattern of eating and you will find out a lot about your body and yourself. A year down the road you be amazed at the new you.

Congratulations on starting and good luck in your efforts.

Thanks QuietOne fantastic post and lots of useful information.
